We love Josephine!

Josephine did an absolutely amazing job on my bridal hair and airbrush makeup. I did a trial with her in January. She answered all of my questions throughout the process, helped me to find extensions, worked within my budget, and advised on hair and makeup styles. I could not have asked for a better artist. She brought along Ruby who was another gift to us all! I had 2 moms and 3 bridesmaids that got hair and makeup done as well. They came to the venue early, fully prepared, made any changes we needed to fit our looks/schedule, and finished just in time for pre-ceremony pictures. Josephine and Ruby made the day better! We all felt so beautiful

You won’t regret it

Oh my god, I can’t begin to tell you how lovely Josephine is. Personality-wise, she’s the sweetest person and lovely to be around. She’s funny and quirky and I just loved working with her. She’s absolutely professional and the makeup and hair she does is beyond all expectations! I will forever recommend Josephine for hair and/or makeup, girl knows what she’s doing!

Josephine was wonderful to work with! She did my bridal hair & airbrush makeup, two bridesmaids hair/makeup, and mother of the bride hair and makeup. She was able to just glance at an inspiration photo and do everyone’s hair just how they wanted! Our makeup was beautiful! She is so easy to work with and very talented. She even helped pull my corset back of my dress together, as my bridesmaids were struggling! I wish I had a reason to have her do my makeup all the time, she’s is that wonderful! I highly recommend her!

Josephine literally saved me for my wedding. I had had two previous makeup trials that did not go well at all and was still looking for a makeup artist two weeks before the wedding. I found Josephine on Wedding Wire, contacted her, and we talked on the phone. She listened to all of my concerns and immediately helped me plan a trial, and we worked everything out during that time. She took pictures to remember the makeup and used them day of as a reference. Also, on the day of the wedding she was responsive to some slight changes that I requested. She spent plenty of time on my makeup and made sure it was perfect. She even helped cover up a noticeable bruise that I had on my arm from having blood drawn. Also, she did makeup for the other bridesmaids, and everyone loved it. Throughout the day people told me that everything looked great. I definitely recommend hiring Josephine. She is totally worth it.

Love love love this girl! She is so lovely and incredibly talented. I had so many questions and she was able to answer them all thoroughly and give me and my girls really great beauty tips. From initial phone consultation to her welcoming trial down to the Day of, Josephine was warm, friendly, and VERY talented. She made beauty recommendations to ensure my look was flawless and she was SPOT ON in my requested look and final touches. I wish I could show a before and after here but my guests were floored and my groom could not take his eyes off of me - it was exactly what I asked for, tweaked to fit my personality and the needs of the day. The hair lasted till the next day (and my hair is resistant to style) and the makeup didnt need a single touchup ALL NIGHT. When I posted the makeup trial here on wedding wire's forum, I got feedback like "flawless", "best makeup trial posted in a while", "dead on".
I wanted a vintage, classic vibe and Josephine delivered with talented grace
My bridal party too was floored and the one girl who was going to do her own hair, saw the work Josephine was doing and sat down in the chair for an updo as soon as it was vacant. no regrets.

I really enjoyed working with Josephine. Throughout the process she was always very friendly and easy to talk to. She responded to emails and returned phone calls in a timely manner. Josephine provided services for my hair and makeup trial, she did hair and makeup for rehearsal and hair for the big day. She also did hair on the day of for 2 moms, 6 bridesmaids and 2 flower girls! On each occasion she was on time, completed her work in a timely fashion, remained calm and collected and did a great job! I was very happy with all of her work! I highly recommend! Josephine was awesome! Very professional, responsive, on time and organized. I loved that she took time during the trial to make sure my hair and makeup was just the way I liked it and didn't make me feel rushed. She was able to get everyone's hair and makeup done with time to spare the day of my wedding. I loved that everyone's hair looked different in its own way. Its always bugged me when you can tell a bridal party's hair was done by the same person because they all have the same style. The way she did our airbrush makeup was perfect and not over done. All of our hair and makeup lasted for 12+ hours. She is your girl for classy, vintage style makeup. I absolutely would recommend her for onsite services for hair and makeup!

Josephine was absolutely amazing! She did myself, 'y mother and my bridal party and everyone looked beautiful! My matron of honor mentioned that she felt more beautiful than she did st her own wedding! Josephine was easy to work with, accommodating and very friendly. I truly felt that she cared for me and wanted my day to be perfect! When we decided I'd need extensions, she went above and beyond to go with me to help make my selections. If I had to do it all over again, I would choose to do it the exact same way and would use Josephine every time!!

Josephine an absolutely amazing talent and I recommend her and her services to all future brides out there. I recently got married at The Linwood Estate in Carlisle PA. First off, I had a large wedding party and Josephine's handled everything amazingly. She was very cool and collected the whole day but also totally organized, aware of time and totally on it. I can't tell you how helpful this was to me during the day!! Further, she did an amazing job on hair and makeup on all of my bridesmaids, and, of course, me! I got so many compliments, I can't tell you how much I loved my hair and makeup. It was just perfect. And it was so easy for her. I just told her what I was thinking and she totally ran with it and it was spot on. In terms of the trial and flexibility, she was also amazing. In fact, she saw me for 2 trials (one hair and makeup and then a second time to do hair again) and didn't charge me for the second. I did my first trial a little too early (a little eager, haha) and I decided after it that I wanted to change the hair piece that I originally bought. When I told her this, she told me to come back for a second trial to do just the hair again with the new head piece. Just amazing customer service. She is totally the coolest person but also organized and so professional. And, not to mention, she is unbelievably talented. My husband and I recently married at the Peter Allen House and I worked with Josephine who performed all the hair and makeup services for the bridal party and a few family members. She was hands down amazing and such a pleasure to work with! Currently living on the west coast, she was able to fit me in for a hair and makeup trial just a few days before the wedding and really listened to everything I wanted in my look. On the day of the wedding, she got there early in the morning to accommodate all of the people I had included for hair and makeup. She was extremely professional and worked non-stop throughout the day. Every person looked amazing! For my own hair and makeup, she worked with me on a few last-minute changes and made sure I looked flawless. I cried throughout the entire ceremony, certain that my makeup was ruined, but it looked great throughout the night! I am so thankful to Josephine and highly recommend her!

Josephine was amazing! I cannot say enough good things about her! From the very initial conversation she was attentive and really wanted to give me what I wanted and also help me decide what hair/makeup looks work with my face, style and overall wedding theme. My hair is stick straight and does not hold a curl at all, so I was a little nervous about the hair, but after the trial I was completely at ease with both the hair and the makeup. Josephine did a fantastic job on the wedding day as well! She recreated the look from the trial but elevated it and really gave me the hair and makeup I imagined. She was also on time and very accommodating. She brought everything she needed with her and pretty much planned for anything! She was very professional and also very warm and welcoming. I felt so comfortable with her and she was really able to help me complete my bridal look. Josephine also did my mother's makeup and my sister's (MOH) makeup, and they both were in love with how it turned out. I couldn't be more pleased with Josephine. I highly recommend her to anyone, but especially if you're looking for a professional who is easy to work with and who will give you the look that you're envisioning (but better!).

Josephine was awesome to work with for my wedding! There were 6 of us that received services that day and her and her assistant arrived to our house with plenty of time to get us done with time to spare. She was very flexible with our timing as I had 2 bridesmaids with small children and we were able to adjust based on their schedules. Due to schedules I wasn't able to schedule a trail for hair or makeup but I couldn't have been happier for the way everything turned out! We just talked through what I wanted my makeup to look like and showed a few pictures of updos that I liked and she was able to offer suggestions. I felt beautiful and both hair and makeup lasted through the night. She even gave me a "to go" pack with touch up materials, she had an extra of one of the lip colors she used and gave it to me to keep. I would highly recommend Josephine for your wedding services!

Josephine is such an amazing talent! She did they hair and makeup for me, my bridesmaids and moms. It was so nice to have her on site on my wedding day; she is the perfect one stop shop! Josephine was Awesome!! She was a total Rock Star , she paid attention to every little detail!! I booked Josephine for both my hair and makeup for my wedding. She was fantastic to work with! She was very professional, and always available if I needed to get in contact with her for any questions. At the trial, I came to her with some photos of hair and makeup I liked, and she really helped me gather all those ideas and focus them into a look that was perfect for my wedding style. The day of, she met me at our venue right on time and, in addition to making me look absolutely gorgeous with a crease cut and red lips, she was a very calming presence amid all the wedding prep chaos! She even was able to help us out last minute with an unscheduled hair styling for the mother of the groom. She does absolutely beautiful work and I would highly recommend her to anyone, especially to brides that want a bit of glam on their wedding day!

My whole family loved Josephine, she could do no wrong!! I had booked Josephine to do my hair and makeup for my wedding knowing that I had a good idea of how I wanted to look but no idea how to execute it. She took the time to understand the vibe and theme of the wedding and really worked with me to translate that into the hair/makeup and she did it flawlessly!! I don't tend to do too much with my hair or make-up so it was such a treat to be in the hands of a true professional. Josephine is hands down amazing. She did hair and makeup for me, my sister and my mom for my welcome dinner at Eden Resort and my outdoor wedding + reception in the Japanese Garden at Lauxmont Farms. Josephine applied my makeup so perfectly - her choice of colors were perfect, the way she does your eye makeup is astounding, and she was able to maintain the natural look I wanted but also add in just the right amount of pop! Plus, it was super hot on my wedding day. My makeup stayed flawless throughout!! Also, my hair was amazing. We did 3 different styles (one for my welcome dinner, one for ceremony and one for reception) and each one was just breathtakingly beautiful and exactly what I had envisioned.

On top of her amazing makeup and hair skills, Josephine was extremely supportive throughout the whole process. Because I live in California, I visited home in Philadelphia only a couple of times before my wedding. She not only accommodated a second hair and makeup trial for me, she squeezed it in just 1 week before my wedding. After she finished a wedding in Maryland, she drove up to Philadelphia to my parent's house for the trial. She had such a long day and I'm sure she was exhausted from her wedding but she was so amazing to be there and make sure we were 100% sure about all our hair and makeup choices before leaving. Also, on the day of the wedding, she was not only there at 4:30am to prep me for my morning ceremony, she was there by my side all morning. When my bridesmaids went to go welcome my the groom and his family at the beginning of our traditional Indian ceremony, Josephine stuck by me, even brought me food, as I waited to join the celebration. I can't thank Josephine enough. Anyone would be lucky to have her as a part of their wedding day, just as I was!!

I have never looked nor felt more beautiful thank on my wedding day and it was all thanks to Josephine!! Honestly and truly - I know that all brides are beautiful - Josephine went above and beyond any expectation I ever had and people could not stop complimenting my hair and make-up (if only I could have Josephine for every day!!!). Aside from her incredible skills with hair and make-up (she is truly an artist - let her do her thing to enhance your natural beauty according to your style preferences - she is a wizard), she was such a warm and fun person!! She was incredibly flexible with the array of changes for mother, maid of honor, etc. hair and make-up (who wanted what done) as well as with my trial date/time. She'll split the invoices so it's easy for different folks to pay -and she'll come to your hotel so you don't have to fret about timelines in getting to/from a salon. I absolutely loved working with Josephine, and she did a phenomenal job. My wedding hair and makeup were perfect. Because I wanted a very specific vintage look, I asked a friend and well known pin-up photographer for a recommendation; I didn’t want someone who would just do a nice job and had a vague understanding of “retro hair”…I wanted someone who understood the era and style I was going for and could replicate it expertly. Her response was immediate and empathic : You want Josephine! In addition to her talents, she has is professional, confident, and has sparkly and fun personality. She really got my big day off to the best possible start. My skin looked like porcelain, my eye makeup was impeccable, and my gorgeous 1930s waves and curls lasted all day and photographed beautifully. She doesn’t just do vintage styles either, her modern looks are just as lovely. The compliments continue to roll in, so many “wow”s. All the stars for Josephine!

Josephine is amazing. She was great to communicate with from start to finish. I was looking for a vintage feel for my wedding and Josephine delivered. Each bridesmaid had hair from different eras, the twenties through the sixties, with make-up to match. I cannot tell you how incredible everyone looked and how many compliments we got on her work. Personally, I felt and looked like an old hollywood movie star, all thanks to Josephine. She was on time, professional, super sweet, and enthusiastic. I could not have asked for a better experience. Josephine is an absolutely amazing makeup artist and an asset! She did a stunning job on my bridal makeup and on my bridesmaids, and even on my mother who is so picky about her makeup! Josephine drove over 2 hours to come to my wedding in VA! She made me look AMAZING. She did my hair and makeup, the bridesmaids hair and makeup and the flower girls and everyone said they felt so beautiful - and we were!

I was having a 1950s inspired wedding and when I saw how skilled Josephine was with retro looks I knew I had to have her do my wedding!

I hired her pretty last minute and she was so great and flexible with adding on people to the service and ...poor thing...I had a morning wedding!! She was at my hotel at 4am!! After a 2 hour drive...and was ready to celebrate as if she had a 15 hour sleep and it was 1pm :)

I just can't say enough about her, she's truly amazing and her work is unlike anyone elses plus you'll just enjoy having her around!

I loved Josephine! She did my hair and makeup as well as my bridesmaids, mother and mother-in-law's hair. Everyone loved her work and she worked so quickly, so we ran perfectly on time all day! She was very professional and we did a practice run prior to the wedding, during which she took her time and made sure I loved the style. After finishing everyone's hair she went back through each style to make sure everything was in place. I'd highly recommend her for hair or makeup for any occasion!

Like another reviewer, I also planned to do my own makeup for my wedding day. As someone who wears very little makeup on a daily basis, I realized late in the game that I was not up to the task. I contacted Josephine on a whim and we set up an appointment for the morning of my wedding, which was ONE WEEK away! She was extremely flexible and helpful. I showed her some pictures from Pinterest, and she completely nailed the soft look I wanted. I went with airbrush, and it didn't feel like I was wearing much at all, which is great for someone who wears very little normally. Highly recommend her!

Josephine was so great to work with! She is very flexible, sweet, listens to your style and gives input only where needed. She made me feel so beautiful on my wedding day, even styling my daughter's hair at the last minute because this bride didn't plan ahead like she should have! I had the airbrushed makeup and the false eyelashes done. Loved the makeup, the light feel of it, how it didn't transfer onto my clothes or guests' clothes who I hugged at my wedding. The eyelashes looked real and gave an extra "Oomf!" to my dark eyes; I just loved them. I would use Josephine's services again and again!

Josephine was amazing! Originally i picked her out of a crowd because I found her style to be way more exciting than the cookie cutter pictures I have seen EVERYWHERE for wedding hair and make up.
Upon "shopping around" turns out her pricing was the most reasonable, a win win! I'm really happy i picked Josephine Love for my wedding day. I know all the ladies in my wedding party enjoyed her company in addition to loving their hair and make up. She was super professional, obviously talented, punctual and most importantly, really a pleasure to work with. she even trimmed my little sisters bangs last minute and helped my maids get me into my dress!

I found Josephine Love through a Google search. The moment I viewed her portfolio online I knew I had to have her for my wedding, her style was perfect for my vision. Not only is her work amazing, but she was the most affordable hair and makeup artist I found for the area I live in. Josephine responded to my email immediately and we arranged a trial well in advance to my BIG DAY. The location of the trial was conveniently located, there was no time limit and we didn't stop until I felt like we had the right look for my big day. We remained in contact through email until MY DAY. Josephine arrived EARLY and brought along a trusted co worker to assist. They both were WONDERFUL. We finished early which allowed me to squeeze in an unexpected first look with my hubby. We all looked BEAUTIFUL! Josephine is such a kind person, I loved having her apart of my wedding team.

16 years and counting ....

I met Josephine at a photo shoot 16 years ago. I loved her so much she did my retro 1950s wedding a few years later. Since then she is the only hair and make up pro I will use. She recently did hair and makeup for myself and a friend for a retro glam wedding for a friend. She is always kind, informative, full of suggestions but also listens to what you want. She is flexible, affordable and most importantly makes you feel gorgeous every time. I always get so many compliments. If you are looking for someone to do your hair and make up for an event...book her now! You will not be disappointed. And let me suggest have her do your wedding party and your mom because everyone deserves the Josephine treatment. Love love love her!

Josephine was great- came to my hotel to do hair and makeup for me and my bridal party. We all loved our hair and the makeup looked great. I kind of figured none of it would last all day (we started getting ready at 8am and the reception ended at 11pm) but everyone's hair stayed curled and the makeup lasted all day too. Josephine was easy to work with and contact. My mom and I did a trial but she was great with working with the other girls w/o seeing them before the wedding day.

After looking at many MUAs online, when I saw Josephine's website... I knew that she was the one! Her work made models look naturally beautiful and not too overdone. And I was overjoyed when I found out that she would be available for my wedding date! I hired her immediately without actually meeting her because I didn't want to risk losing her. I was nervous before meeting her before my engagement shoot, but she made me feel relaxed instantly. Josephine listened to every question and concerned, explaining each step and offered alternatives to meet my needs. After working with her on my engagement photo shoot, I was sooooo excited to have her make me and my bridesmaids beautiful on my wedding day. Not only is Josephine a talented artist, she was a Saint on my wedding day... patiently taking her time with my hair and makeup (in between calming me down from my anxiety attacks). She showed up early, finished on time and even extended her day (working from 9am until 6pm without a break) to do impromptu hair and makeup for two of my aunts who were so impressed they hired her on the spot! I took a chance hiring an amazing artist online and I could not have asked for a more patient, flexible and completely awesome artist for my wedding. Josephine is beyond amazing... she played such a vital role in my wedding (hair stylist, makeup artist, and therapist!) that I truly consider her a friend.

I am so happy that I found Josephine for my wedding! The hair and makeup services she provided for my bridesmaids and I were excellent. She came to the inn where we were holding the wedding on the morning of, which was really convenient and made for a relaxed environment for all of us. I know I was nervous and I'm sure my bridesmaids were, too, but she put us at ease during the whole process and was so much fun to talk to. She was so professional and creative, and her skill and the quality of her products was excellent. Each of my bridesmaids ended up with a look that was flattering and reflected their personal style. Josephine was recommended to me by my wedding photographer. I am so thankful for this recommendation! My first encounter with Josephine was for my engagement photo shoot. She came to my home to style my hair and do my makeup. Immediately I felt comfortable with her. She is very easy to talk to, a great listener and a master of her craft. After that photo session I knew I needed her for my wedding day. She kept a great line of communication through the entire process. She would check in with emails every so often to be sure things were still on track. We scheduled a wedding trial several weeks prior to the big day. This time I came to her home, she made me feel comfortable. After we looked at photos of my ideas together, we talked out the options and she did a fabulous job! I only booked Josephine for makeup on my wedding day. This is simply because I have a hair stylist who I have been very loyal to for several years. On the wedding day, Josephine arrived early to set up and even provided music to set the mood. She is the kind of person that when you are around her, you feel like you've known her forever. She did a beautiful job on several of my bridesmaids and I could not have been happier with my final look. What I liked a lot about this experience is that at any point I felt completely comfortable saying if I did or did not like a certain thing or if I wanted a little more or less of any particular product. Joesphine was even a lifesaver when it came to putting on my veil. I wore a birdcage veil that wound up being a little too big. Joesphine came to the rescue and proceeded to cut and sew my veil until it was perfect. She really is a jack of all trades and I wouldn't recommend anyone but her! Every woman dreams of looking a certain way on the day she should feel her most beautiful. Josephine provided me with my dream wedding look!

There was no specific reason why I chose Josephine but I am glad I did so. I am new to the area and randomly bumped into Josephone's website and found it interseting and so I just gave her a call to discuss my expectations and fears. She is an amazingly sweet person to talk to. I knew my search was over as soon as I spoke to her. We discussed for about 2 hours about the look that I was looking for and she understood it right away!

She was at the venue right on time..even before me..lol!
She was as sweet at as she sounded over the phone. She could manage so easily under pressure and kept my expectations in mind. She kept showing me and asking me if I was comfortable with what she was doing. She kept adding more or stopped right there according to my feedback. My hairdo was perfect, which was my biggest fear. The makeup was just what I wanted. She purchased a couple of things to help me out, which I am reallly grateful to Josephine for! But the bottom line is..my makeup was loved by everyone in the party as much as I loved it. everyone praised the look and I proudly gave Josephine's name to everyone. Thank you Josephine for being such a great part of my special event. I so look forward to get my makeup done by you all over again..I hope that happens real soon!!

I am so, so, so happy I chose Josephine to do hair and makeup for me, my bridesmaids, and my mom. Everything turned out PERFECT, no exaggeration.

It was extremely important to me to choose a makeup artist that had a personal aesthetic that meshed well with my own but who also had a broad range of talent and product knowledge. When I found Josephine's portfolio I knew she was exactly who I was looking for.

She was personable, professional, and catered to each individual style graciously. Even under pressure when I had given her the wrong end time (cutting things an hour short!) she worked quickly but left no tress uncurled or eyelash unglued!

I have a very...intense family and she worked diligently through every interruption, laughing and talking with us the whole time. We were all extremely comfortable with her and it was just overall a very fun experience. I was so pleased with how my hair and makeup turned out and I know my mom and bridesmaids were happy as well. Of course my skin (and one of my bridesmaids, too) broke out right before the wedding but no one would ever know, it looked perfect on the day of. She even covered the keritosis polaris on my arm that I'm extremely self conscious about - I didn't worry about it all night! The airbrush makeup is definitely worth the extra money and Josephine uses great, quality products that I loved, and a lot of them if I wasn't using already, I am now!

Honestly, I think using a freelance professional makeup artist is a much more personal and valuable experience than going somewhere that turns out the same ~bridal look over an over. With Josephine you can really achieve a look that is exactly what YOU want, which is the most important part of all. Additionally, her prices are very reasonable, she comes to your location, and she is incredibly skilled; I cannot recommend her enough and look forward to working with her again!!

Josephine was fantastic! I could not say enough good things about her work and how lovely and easy to work with she was. She came to the house where bridesmaids were getting ready the morning of the wedding, which was super easy. Our updos were really great - each of the three bridesmaids got a different style, which Josephine came up with based on a few ideas we each had about how we'd like to look and details about the dresses and venues. We really looked unique and great and got lots of compliments through the night. The bride got her hair done at a salon, but seemed like she wished she'd had Josephine do it. As an additional note, my updo was so secure (but not shellacked with hairspray) that I went to sleep with it up and it STILL looked great for the brunch the next morning.

Josephine did a fantastic job on the day of our wedding. Everyone's hair looked absolutely amazing. The fact that everyone just showed her a picture of what they wanted the day of and she could just execute it perfectly, is incredible. While everyone wanted a different look, she made the whole bridal party look seamless. I loved working with Josephine, she is a true professional. For my hair trial, she came all the way to my house. We played around with a few different styles. I thought I loved my hair then and on the day of my wedding she made it a thousand times better which I didn't even know was possible. I would definitely recommend her for hair and I hear she is even better at makeup, but I just didn't need that service from her. :)

Josephine was a pleasure to work with, and really listened to my requests when it came to my hair and makeup. As an out-of-state bride, I was a bit worried about scheduling everything and fitting in a trial prior to my wedding day. She was able to work with my schedule, which I so appreciated. I really enjoyed working with Josephine from the beginning! She is super easy going and open to feedback, which made finding the right hair/makeup and look easy. It was also wonderful having a fun and low stress person helping everyone get ready on the big day. She did a great job with me, my bridesmaids, and family - everyone looked great and felt comfortable! The bridal party came from pretty diverse backgrounds (age, ethnic background, personal style), but she and Nicole were able to style everyone in a way that really brought out their natural beauty. They built in extra time so nothing ever felt rushed, and they were even able to accommodate a few girls who decided at the last minute that they wanted professional makeup. I would highly recommend Josephine for on site hair and makeup!

Josphine was a wonderful hair and makeup artist for my wedding. She arrived at my house on time and finished with everyone's hair and make-up early. After receiving little or no guidance from me, she was able to make everyone in the wedding look absolutely beautiful. I don't typically get all dressed up or fancified, and Josephine was able to give me a natural, yet still stunning look that completely fit my personality. She made me look better than I would have imagined on my own. I was grateful. She was very laid back, easy to talk to while she was working on me, and came prepared with bonus items for me to use throughout the day. Josephine was also took the time to go over all of the "touch-up" items since I have little experience with make-up. I highly recommend her for any hair and make-up needs.

Josephine was absolutely a pleasure to work with. I knew that I wanted to do airbrush makeup since I was getting married outside in the middle of the summer, but it was very difficult to find someone in York who did it. I am so happy that I found Josephine. She did an amazing job and I could not have been happier with the final result. I was worried about whether one person would be able to do hair and makeup for 6 people, but Josephine was a total professional and we actually finished ahead of schedule.

I am so pleased I found Josephine when I was looking for someone who was able to do hair and make-up for my wedding. I knew I wanted airbrush makeup, so I was trying to find someone who was equally proficient doing that, traditional make-up, and hair. On my wedding day, Josephine did make-up for me, my mother, my aunt, and my maid-of-honor, and also did hair for the maid-of-honor and flower girl. Every one of us felt amazingly beautiful, and both the traditional and airbrush makeup lasted all night - and the 2-year-old flower girl's hair lasted nearly as long! Josephine was so great to work with, and I was thrilled with the quality of her work and her ideas for hair and make-up. I planned to do my own hair and makeup for my wedding, but a month before the big day, I realized this was way out of my skill set. I was looking for something different, young, editorial, and Josephine's website instantly drew me in. This review may seem overly positive, but I'm a real bride.

When we spoke on the phone she told me that she had moved to Pennsylvania and rarely did DC weddings, and that her Mom would be visiting the week of my wedding. I was pretty upset because she was the only person I had found who did both makeup and hair and had the style I was looking for. She was so excited about the look I was going for, she went out of her way to adjust her schedule, and after a few weeks of trading photos and ideas, she made the 4 hour drive to do hair and makeup for me and my bridal party.

Josephine used the highest quality makeup and hair equipment. She was fun to work with and extremely patient with everyone, making sure they were happy with their looks before moving on to someone else.

I wanted high drama, and she was totally willing to go there with me. She used airbrush makeup, which also looked perfect. Everyone was blown away by the look. The hair—my sky high beehive—was a huge hit. I need to emphasize that it was 100 degrees on July 6, and my wedding was outdoors. We were patting sweat off of each other during the ceremony! But the makeup help up through sweat and tears. And the hair…well, let's just say I was too lazy to take it out so I slept in it and it STILL looked good the next morning! It was unbelievable how well the style held.

Josephine's pricing is higher than some others I looked at, and I did pay a reasonable travel fee, but Josephine was worth every penny! You can spend all your money on the beautiful venue, dress, flowers, food, but everyone will be looking at you because you are the bride and that's what people do at weddings. So do yourself a favor—book Josephine and wow them (and yourself!).

I was referred to Josephine from a friend. I was a tad nervous because I didn't see a lot of her work with women of color but her work was beautiful so I made a consultation. We did a trail and I was so revealed how well she did my makeup (what was I thinking to be nervous! Have you seen her work?!) The day of my wedding my makeup looked better than the trial! That day I looked the best I ever did and I am so grateful because I know my pictures are going to be flawless. I can't say enough how awesome she was. She also gave great feedback to everyday makeup wear. Book her you won't regret it!

Josephine provided the perfect hair and makeup advice and service for my big day. Being one of those women who NEVER wear makeup, it was really important to me to have someone who actually knew what she was doing! Josephine was definately that person. She had great advice to fit the look of my dress and made me feel at ease with the whole process. I felt beautiful and like myself! What a great makeup artist!

WOW! Josephine made my wedding day! She sculpted my hair into the perfect up-do to compliment my dress and then created a flawless make-up look that both popped with sparkle, but was still ME.Josephine is easy-going, flexible and calm.
