If you are looking for the most talented, kind, helpful, and attentive photographer in Puerto Rico, look no further than Joseph LaMotta. Planning a destination wedding in Rio Grande, PR from West Palm Beach, Florida was no easy task. I felt very worried about picking a photographer from so far away because, to me, this is one of the most important vendors you must pick for your wedding. I was trying to decide between two photographers and then I spoke to Joseph on the phone. He was so friendly, kind, helpful, and willing to work with my every request. I felt as though I clicked with him immediately. I couldn't be happier with my choice. Throughout the entire process, he made me feel so comfortable with planning a wedding from afar and was very flexible. Joseph even offered to meet us the day before our wedding at the airport! Not only was he talented and professional, but he made me feel relaxed and confident in front of the camera... that to me is a very difficult task and Joseph did it with ease. I am so thankful for Joseph because we have our wedding day memories captured beautifully and perfectly. He is a very talented artist and I would have him take our pictures again any day!! Joseph LaMotta was GREAT!!!!! We just came back from our destination wedding in San Juan, Puerto Rico and if anyone is planning a destination wedding, believe me….. it can be complicated. I live in Chicago and since the wedding was in Puerto Rico, all the planning and details had to occur through research, emails and phone calls. I contacted several photographers with our budget and specifics of what we were looking for. Joseph LaMotta was the only photographer who responded immediately, listened to what we wanted and never tried to “up sale” us. He requested conference calls prior to our arrival to Puerto Rico and maintained constant communication up to the moment he arrived to the ceremony. He provided us ease and was professional during the entire ceremony and reception. It has been only been 12 days since our wedding and I just received all the photos from him. They are wonderful! He captured everything we were hoping for and did any touch ups on the photos that were needed. We are so very impressed. Since my husband is originally from Puerto Rico, we will be returning and I will definitely be using Joseph LaMotta Photography for any future events we may be having. I would strongly suggest his services; you will be thrilled with the results….from beginning to end.

On 9/20/2009, my wife and I could not be anymore happier than having chosen Joseph LaMotta as our wedding photographer on our special day! He was wonderful! Joseph takes his time to really get to know the couple he is working for to the point where I consider him more than a photographer, but a good friend. Joseph was very flexible and took some shots of us in San Juan's magnificent 16th century fortress "El Morro" 3 days before the wedding day as part of our engagement shoot. On Sunday 9/20/09, Joseph drove out to the other side of the island (NW tip) Isabela, Puerto Rico and took some amazing shots. We booked Joseph without meeting him, choosing only based on his online portfolio. We loved the candidness of his photos and felt that style suited us best. He was quick to respond to our questions and emails, and the quality of his pictures was amazing! We had a bit of a hurricane scare the day of our wedding, and he was kind enough to change our arranged schedule last minute, so we could get married before the hurricane came in.

We were very pleased with Joseph Lamotta Photography. He was so helpful, and answered all of my questions before our wedding by phone/email, and communicated greatly after the wedding, letting us know when to expect our photos.

Our pictures turned out beautiful, and we couldn't be happier with his services. If we were to get married all over again, we would hire Joseph Lamotta in a heartbeat!

We were looking for a local photographer to shoot our wedding in Vieques, PR. I spoke with Joseph by phone and felt comfortable with his responses to questions I asked. He flew to Vieques for us and we felt he did an excellent job. He got the shots we wanted, showed a high level of skill as a photographer, returned them to us in a timely fashion, and responded to my requests to further edit a few shots even after delivery. The only reasons I didn't rate him a 5/5 for quality of service and professionalism were because I think he could do more with his website, and because during the ceremony there were some shots we requested that he might have been able to approach in ways that didn't get in the way of guests viewing. My husband and i are absolutely besides ourselves at the horrendous pictures that were taken. There are no pictures done exclusively of me and my husband, none of our rings (like I asked for), the family photo has a table in it, all the pics of my guests are only dancing, and you can’t make out half of them because it’s of their backs. Not to mention the fact that he completely disappeared all during cocktail hour (when photo’s are traditionally taken), and I spent over 30 minutes looking for him and when we found him, he stated he was taking pictures of the reception area, but only two pics were taken of my cake. There are no outside photo’s other then the ceremony, and there are MANY photo’s that shouldn’t have made the cut all together!! He stated he worked at the hotel before and knew the good spots to take photos but no direction by him was given, and he didn’t take anything of me, my husband and children. There is not one picture I can hang on my wall!! We looked at the photos once and do not wish to revist them again. The photos on the website is absolutely not what we got! We are extremely heartbroken and have to spend double the money to have pictures redone.

We had a similar experience with Mr. Lamotta. DO NOT HIRE HIM. He photographed our wedding in June 2007. It took him 2 YEARS to get us our albums. He never gave us the albums for our parents that we paid for in advanced. My wife was unhappy with the large framed picture, as it was way too airbrushed....my face looked fake.
He refuses to answer phone calls, emails, and basically blocks your number. DO NOT PAY THE LAST DEPOSIT UNTIL YOU GET EVERYTHING. We have hired a lawyer to deal with him. We still havent recieved our complete package, going on 4 years.

He should not be allowed to continue his scam as a photographer. He missed crucial events in the wedding ceremony and is by far the biggest regret of our entire experience. We hired Joseph Lamotta to complete our engagement photos and our wedding photos. In June, he shot our engagement session. When we saw the photos - we hated all of them. Literally there was not one photograph that we liked. The lighting was severe which distorted our faces, there were numerous shots which were fuzzy, he shot from bad angles (literally shooting up my skirt numerous times), super bad body positioning - yet he kept saying that they were photo journalistic. It was not photo journalistic - it was completely unplanned in every way and unprofessional. In addition, he was a bit creepy
When we informed him that we decided to go with another photographer for the wedding - he refused to give us our money back. Stupidly we had paid him in full for his services instead of simply providing a deposit. We lost over $3,000. Essentially he stole that money from us. It is completely unprofessional and unacceptable. Now he will not even respond to any of our e-mails or calls.
I would NEVER recommend him. It is only decent business practice to return someones money if they do not like the product - especially when he did not even complete his services a little bit. The lighting was severe which distorted our faces, there were numerous shots which were fuzzy, he shot from bad angles (literally shooting up my skirt numerous times), super bad body positioning - yet he kept saying that they were photo journalistic. It was not photo journalistic - it was completely unplanned in every way and unprofessional. In addition, he was a bit creepy
When we informed him that we decided to go with another photographer for the wedding - he refused to give us our money back. Stupidly we had paid him in full for his services instead of simply providing a deposit. We lost over $3,000. Essentially he stole that money from us. It is completely unprofessional and unacceptable. Now he will not even respond to any of our e-mails or calls.
I would NEVER recommend him. It is only decent business practice to return someones money if they do not like the product - especially when he did not even complete his services a little bit. You should not trust him with your wedding photos or your money. -

I can't even say that he provided an service for me. We hired him (by making a deposit through paypal) to take honeymoon pictures on our honeymoon in Puerto Rico. When we got there I only had his email address and had very limited email access, 3 days before the shoot he told me he had not received the deposit and would need full payment in cash to do the job. We did not have that much cash and were unable to make any options due to the limited email access and his poor response to the emails. We had to scamper and find a different photographer. When I returned home I found the receipt of depost and asked for a refund. It took 3 months and I had to make a dispute through my credit card to even get the refund! He had one excuse after another... started off very kind, ended up being very rude! STAY AWAYI can't even say that he provided an service for me.
