Rain or Shine, the Perfect Photographer!
We had the absolute pleasure of working with Jose for our wedding at Coco Beach Resort on Ambergris Caye, Belize in November 2023. From the beginning, he was professional, responsive, and easy to communicate with - even from afar.
Our wedding day turned out to be unexpectedly rainy, which delayed his arrival and required last-minute changes to our ceremony and reception. Despite the weather challenges, he and his wife Perle went above and beyond to capture the spirit and emotion of the day. They were calm, kind, and adaptable, which helped us stay relaxed and focused on what mattered most.
The photos are stunning - we couldn’t be happier with the way he documented both the big moments and the small, candid details. He truly has an eye for storytelling, and we’re so grateful to have these memories preserved so beautifully.

Our wedding was originally scheduled in April 2020. After an exhaustive search for the best photographer in Ambergris Caye, I chose Jose Luis Zapata, only to learn he was already booked! Covid happened and our wedding was postponed. 4 years later, it felt like it had been fate when I was able to book with Jose for our wedding at Victoria House.
I am not a picture taker. In fact, I hate taking pictures, so I was very nervous about wedding photos. I really only had one request; sunset shots! We planned the wedding around those. Jose took care of everything. He has such a creative eye and knew exactly what to take pictures of. He captured all of the important moments throughout the day and created several different sunset shots with a variety of different lighting. Just gorgeous!
Jose is very friendly and easygoing. He made us feel comfortable and at ease. Jose was extremely responsive via email, easy to talk with in person, and very accommodating. We received our photos within the time promised and were thrilled with the end product. I highly recommend Jose Luis Zapata Photography. You will not be disappointed! -

Once we decided to get married in Belize, I knew we had to have Jose as our photographer and he and his wife did an AMAZING job! They were responsive, and captured our small wedding so beautifully, going above and beyond by creating a highlight video for us and making sure to get all the shots I had wanted. It did take awhile to get our photos back, but they were so worth the wait! I found Jose’s profile on Facebook and instantly fell in love with his vision, art and attention to capture the most beautiful images. I knew I wanted him to capture my husband and I’s 20th wedding anniversary with our kids on the beautiful island of San Pedro, Belize. He was so helpful to help me navigate this day from the US in every way, such as transportation to the ‘sandbar’ and timing out photos perfectly with weather and sunset. A Cool Head in the Face of Chaos!
Working with Jose was wonderful. The weather kind of threw our day for a bit of a loop and changed a lot of our plans and time tables and Jose just rolled with it, helping us as the couple stay on task throughout the day and still getting amazing shots despite the chaos of changing a lot of our timeline about as last minute as possible. I had been a bit nervous about the whole thing since I was planning our wedding from countries away, but I really couldn't have asked for a better photographer to help guide us through the day and to get us the wedding portraits of my dreams. Jose clearly knew his way around the resort and was able to utilize the setting in amazing ways for us. If you are getting married in Belize, especially San Pedro, Jose is your guy. -

We hired Jose Luis to photograph our small wedding at our villas. He offered affordable and flexible packages and his skill and professionalism did not disappoint. He was kind, friendly and could have easily been mistaken as an invited guest because of how well he got along with everyone without being the least bit intrusive. Our wedding photos are beautiful. His candid shots captured the joy and laughter so impeccably that we are still able to relive that day each time we look at his photos. His attention to detail by photographing the table setting, the perfect full moon, his keen eye for composition, the location…together with photos of our guests, our couple portraits and the candid shots allowed me to create our wedding video. If i had to mention one regret it would be not hiring him for the whole day. (i took the 3 hour package). While setting a budget for your wedding can be overwhelming, don’t cut the photography budget. You’ll want to remember and relive every aspect of your special day and photos are the way to accomplish that. Our epic plans for our oceanfront Belize wedding got derailed quite a bit from the outskirts of a hurricane. Our wedding planner at Signature Belize Weddings and Events pulled off a miracle and helped salvage the day. But our photographer team, Jose Luis and his wife Perlita were truly amazing. They arrived in the storms and got some great "getting ready pictures for us"... and went back and forth in the rain between the 2 condos to get pics of the Guys getting ready/ hanging out too. They managed to capture a couple cool shots of the ceremony and reception set up so we at least know how beautiful everything would've looked. And they were SO sweet, accommodating, and flexible with the schedule. They even stayed longer because of the storms to make sure we got all the photos we wanted once the rain stopped. I can't wait to see the finished photos... I know they'll be stunning! Thank you again Jose Luis and Perlita! 💜

The quality, vibrant colors and impeccable touch-ups Jose did for our wedding photos were absolutely stunning! He was punctual, kind and directive, ensuring to help us pose so we got the perfect shots. Planning an elopement destination wedding at the end of 2020 had its challenges, but finding a photographer was not one of them. We were fortunate to have found Jose at the beginning of the year and booked him immediately. Despite multiple location and date changes Jose was nothing but easy going and accommodating through all of it. Neither my husband nor I are very comfortable in front of the camera and we let Jose know we preferred a more organic relaxed vibe. Couldn’t ask for better
We couldn’t have asked for a better photographer for our small destination wedding in Belize. We opted for a sand bar ceremony off of San Pedro. Jose Luis was great. All communication prior to the event was prompt and helpful. The day of the wedding was so smooth. We got all of the shots we hoped for and more! He made posing for pictures so easy and fun, and got candids that were our favorites! The turn around time was about 3 weeks, and the edited images were so good! We elected to have many printed on acrylic from an online (and a local) vendor and the colors were brilliant and perfect! -

Terrific vow renewal ceremony
We wanted a very small, intimate, casual beach vow renewal ceremony. Just us and the kids and some great photos. He delivered! We did a sandbar renewal after a beautiful boat ride.it was perfect. And the photos were unbelievable! We had them mounted in acrylic and they are gorgeous. -

Our dream wedding
