Amazing musician!

Johnny was so great for our ceremony music! I didn’t want to use a DJ for our ceremony so I was searching for a musician. I had a specific song in mind to walk down the aisle to, and Johnny took the request and it was perfect. Guests loved the ukulele and piano, also commenting on his beautiful singing.

The best ever!

John did an amazing job as the pianist for our wedding ceremony. He was able to customize two of our favorite songs and it all came out so beautifully! John is the perfect musical addition to our day and we would highly recommend working with him!

Beautiful music and very responsive!

Johnny provided the music for our wedding ceremony at St. Thomas More in Morristown, NJ. It was a pleasure working with him as we planned out our big day, and he had a lot of valuable advice as we sorted out our song selections. On the day of the wedding, the music was beautiful! Johnny made every part of the process easy with his friendly demeanor and knowledge of his craft. We’re very grateful for his help in making our wedding such a special day!

It was just perfect and exactly what we wanted!

From the moment we received our first email back from Johnny, we knew we were booking him! Not only was he responsive, friendly and professional, but he also included 2 sound clips of him playing the ukulele/singing our requested ceremony songs immediately! His renditions were so unique and beautiful. Hearing him play what we specifically asked for, before even booking him, made our choice that much easier. Both my mother (walking me down the aisle) and my now husband cried tears of joy, as soon as he started "Just Breathe". I couldn't help but sing along both times walking up and down the aisle too! He also played the piano during our cocktail hour and included all of our favorite songs and artists, which ranged from Eddie Vedder to Elton John to Boyz II Men! Everyone complimented how great he was and loved our music choices. I wish we could have another wedding, just to hire him again! Thanks, Johnny for sharing your talent with us!

Consummate musical professional

Johnny learned more than a few songs for our wedding. We are soooooooo glad we hired him! He made our vision of surprising lounge music (rap, metal, rock) come true for our cocktail hour. And he absolutely enchanted our guests from minute 1 with his amazing ukelele, piano and singing skills. We also wound up hiring his friend for violin accompaniment. He also learned our recessional song, from a lesser known band Cloud Cult. His entire repertoire for our wedding was the perfect blend of everything we love musically and we will never forget how special he made our day.

Wonderful!

Johnny was very professional and accommodating from the start of the process and throughout- playing our favorite songs. His vocals and instruments were perfect for our ceremony, cocktail hour and first dance. Beautiful music and a very unique and fun touch to our wedding. Incredible musician and wonderful to work with

We had the pleasure of working with Johnny for our intimate wedding ceremony in Oct. 2020 (ukulele/vocal) as well as for our larger postponed wedding ceremony (ukulele/vocal with violinist) and cocktail hour (piano/vocal) in Oct. 2021. Throughout the planning and rescheduling process, Johnny was incredibly responsive, thoughtful, and creative in sending us samples and helping us select music that would be meaningful for the ceremony and fun for the cocktail hour. For our second ceremony, Johnny even coordinated with a separate vendor of ours (violinist) to ensure that they would be in sync for the day. I can't recommend Johnny Herbert highly enough for your live music needs!

Awesome musician!

Johnny made my daughters Wedding Ceremony one that will not be forgotten. The music was beautiful and his voice gave everyone chills. He was very professional in organizing the music, very easy to reach out to for recommendations. I highly recommend his services and look forward to using him again for other events!

Absolutely fantastic

We hired Johnny for our wedding at the Water Witch June 5, 2021. Originally it was set for 2020 but... covid. He was amazing not only as a performer (seriously - he's great) but also a pleasure to work with professionally through the entire process. Don't hesitate - book him now before someone else does.

Johnny is a must have on your wedding day!

We hired Johnny to play during our Ceremony and for cocktail hour. It was one of the best decisions we made for the day. His music (ukulele and vocals) during the ceremony was absolutely beautiful. He was on the keys for cocktail hour and entertained with some classics and big-band music (e.g. Frank Sinatra). Hearing that my wife was a big Disney fan during our vows, Johnny switched to a Disney playlist halfway through cocktail hour and it was a HIT! The true sign of an top-notch musician is someone who can read the audience and adapt on the fly. Weeks later, our guests still rave about Johnny and tell us we should have hired him to play longer. (We agree!)

Johnny was the ultimate professional throughout the entire process, from planning to the day of. He had a meeting with us to go over our music preferences and work through the flow of the ceremony. I HIGHLY recommend Johnny for your special day - you'll be glad you do.

Amazing! Perfection!

Amazing musician!

Perfect Soundtrack for our day

Johny was truly amazing from start to finish. He was super easy to work with, was fantastic at responding to emails and requests from us. The soundtrack he provided for our day was absolutely amazing, he even learnt new songs for us which weren't in his already impressive repertoire. I cannot recommend him highly enough. Hire him whilst you can, you wont regret it!!!!!

The Shiff Wedding

Johnny’s performance during our ceremony was absolutely amazing. He was ready and willing to learn special songs for us which meant the world to me. Our guests could not stop talking about how unique our ukulele player was and they have never seen one at a wedding before. My only wish is that we could have had more time to watch him play as we were busy getting married ha!

Absolutely Made the Day

Johnny was WONDERFUL to work with. He not only worked with us to for the playlist for the evening (ceremony and cocktail hour) but he emailed back and forth with us about our first dance, and send us samples of it so we could practice. He was thorough, communicative, and just so so easy to work with. Not to mention he is a stellar ukulele player! We had him play all uke, but his piano skills are just as impressive. We received so many compliments on the music during both the ceremony and cocktail hour. Everyone we talked to said his playing "set the mood" and complimented his voice. My only regret is we didn't get to hear more of his fabulous playing!!!! If you're looking for live music, whether you need something to set a tropical mood, or someone to play some jazzy pop tunes, I promise you will not be disappointed with Johnny. Payment was easy and he sent clear and concise contracts over. Highly highly recommend him!!

Crowd Pleaser

Johnny Herbert was such a pleasure to work with. He went above and beyond to make our day special. He is a great, friendly communicator and followed up with us throughout the planning process. He was willing to let us control as much as we wanted, but we gave him carte blanche to make decisions about what to play. It’s one of the best decisions we made! In my husband’s vows he referenced “I Want to Grow Old with You” from The Wedding Singer, and Johnny was so attentive that he decided on the spot to play that song as we walked out. So many of our guests said how sweet they thought that was and were so surprised when we told them we had not planned it. We did not want to do the traditional loud DJ music so we hired him for our ceremony and reception to make it more “us.” So many of our guests went out of their way to contact us after the wedding to say how much they enjoyed his music and the vibe he was able to create in the room. He is so talented and so personable. We would highly recommend him to anyone!

We couldn’t be happier with our decision to have Johnny play for our ceremony and cocktail hour at our wedding. When we heard his sample music on his website, we knew right away he would be the perfect addition to our wedding. Johnny was so accommodating and easy to work with. He was very flexible with song requests and even learned the song that I wanted to walk down the aisle to just for us. It was absolutely perfect. He met with us before the big day to play some samples and was so friendly and professional. I would highly recommend Johnny to play for your wedding or any occasion!

Johnny went above and beyond for our wedding! We hired him to play ukulele for our ceremony and piano for our cocktail hour and could not have been happier. We had a ton of compliments from our guests mentioning how great he was. Johnny nailed all of our requests, including twinkle twinkle little star from our flower girl at the cocktail hour, which made her so happy. He was excellent to work with leading up to the wedding and so quick to send sample recordings of our ceremony special requests. Could not have asked for a better experience. Thanks Johnny!!

Johnny was a pleasure to work with from the first time I reached out to him. He responded promptly and provided an amazing sample of a favorite song of ours within hours - we were blown away. Johnny worked with us on finding the right blend of music for cocktail hour and learned different songs we wanted to hear. The ukulele added the perfect touch to our outdoor wedding ceremony. On top of being an incredible musician and having an amazing voice, Johnny has an incredibly professional demeanor. We really liked Johnny's samples so we reached out to him about playing at our wedding in May. His responses were always almost instantaneous. He sent over a sample of an additional song we requested which was great (we ended up choosing it for one of our prelude songs). We had him play a mixture of songs on ukulele and piano for our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. Our guests and us loved his music, it really added such a nice touch and I'm so happy with our decision to hire him. His rates are very reasonable. Would definitely recommend him. We can't say enough about Johnny and what his music added to our wedding day. We were blown away by his talent and professionalism. His communication was excellent before, during, and after the ceremony. Our guests all commented on how much they enjoyed his performance and said " how did you find him, he's AMAZING!"

Johnny did our ceremony as well as the cocktail hour, and everyone loved it. He was very flexible with my musical choices, as they evolved over a couple of months, and even threw in a couple last minute requests, which were performed flawlessly. He was also kind enough to allow me into his home to hear a few of the songs prior to the wedding. We’re so glad we found him!

Johnny was wonderful. His website has great samples so you can see his range of music. It was really easy to do the contract with him, and most importantly for me, he takes payments before the event, including Venmo - so no need to worry about cash or checks on the day. He asked us our favorite music and offered to play things that weren't on his website. When our priest told us he would bring his own microphone or speakers for the ceremony (frustrating and unprofessional), Johnny was able to add microphone hire to our contract with no problems at all. He played the ukulele for the ceremony and then the grand piano for the cocktail party. I also run events for work and I would hire him again if I need a musician.

We hired Johnny to play at my grandmother's memorial service. "Over the Rainbow" is one of my grandfather's favorite songs and we just fell in love with Johnny's rendition on his ukulele. During such a stressful and sad time, Johnny made working with him effortless. Like a true professional, he found out where he needed to be and arrived early to set up and make sure all of his equipment worked as it should in the church. His performance was moving and had the assembled mourners in tears. It struck just the right reflective note as we remembered this amazing woman we had lost. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Johnny to anyone else considering his services. He is truly talented, very warm and personable and a consummate professional. My family and I look forward to working with him again in the future.

Johnny was absolutely the best choice that we could have made for our wedding music! Johnny was a pleasure to work with, generously taking the time to send us samples of songs we love, talk to us on the phone, and willing to make a last minute change for us without a second thought. We even asked him to play a specific song during a flower ceremony and the creative license he took, quietly starting to play while our efficient was still speaking and then beginning to sing as family members added flowers to a wreath, was so seamless and breathtaking. My only regret is that we didn't pay Johnny to stay at our wedding longer! Hire him- you won't regret it!

Johnny was fantastic at our September wedding. He played ukulele and sand for our outdoor ceremony and played keyboard and sang for our indoor cocktail hour. We were so pleased with Johnny and his music. We had hired a DJ for the reception but still wanted our wedding to have a touch of live music. We only had to listen to one of his songs for about 30 secs before we said we had to have him. Johnny was professional and he is extremely talented. All of guest talked non-stop about how great he was. Some of our guest even took his information to save for their future weddings. We were very pleased with our whole experience with Johnny and would highly recommend him to anyone for any event.

My parent's 50th wedding anniversary party. Johnny learned songs specifically to fit their taste - many from the 50s, 60s and 70s with Motown and R&B included. He is a truly talented musician! Johnny played for 4 hours - with the last hour just as lively as the first ! He had people on their feet dancing and singing along! I couldn't ask for more perfect entertainment - he made the party . My mom's exact words "Johnny was the best!" As far as professionalism, Johnny was quick to respond to emails; early to set up for the event; fun, courteous and accommodating during the event. A joy to work with - I would definitely hire again.

Johnny was amazing! He was apart of a wedding day surprise and accommodated to all our requested. Even on first contact, i knew Johnny was a very professional and gifted musician. Johnny Herbert was exactly what we were looking for, a musician who plays the piano and ukulele and also knows how to play in a church wedding. When we heard his sample music on his website, we knew right away that he's the one so we booked him almost a year away from our wedding. As our wedding came closer, we asked Johnny if we could meet him in person and he was very accommodating to invite him to his home. He played the piano and sang for us in his house and we discussed the music he was going to play in church and during the cocktail hour.

Johnny was fantastic! Our ceremony and reception location was a 25-minute drive but despite that, Johnny was punctual and prepared. Many of our guests made comments that the man who sang during the cocktail hour had a wonderful voice.

We would highly recommend Johnny Herbert to anyone who is looking for a musician. His voice, talent, and professionalism is worth the memories to your wedding!

Johnny brought amazing talent and good vibes to our wedding! There are no words to express how happy and grateful we are that Johnny was part of our wedding day. IF YOU READ NO OTHER REVIEW - PLEASE READ THIS ONE!!!! The ending is the most important part!

From the beginning, Johnny was unbelievably accommodating and friendly, and we knew off the bat we could trust him. We weren't necessarily looking for a ukuleleist, but Johnny's rendition of "Book of Love" had us hooked and we knew he was the right fit. From our first call, he made us extremely comfortable, and went above and beyond - he learned songs that were special to us, set us up with a violinist for the prelude and ceremony, and sent us an entire set list so we could put them on our DJ's "Do Not Play" list for the reception.

On the wedding day, he arrived early and was professional and friendly to all. Needless to say, his performance was flawless. Having live music made a huge impact on the ceremony, and he played the songs that were special to us perfectly. He is a VERY talented musician!

All of that would have been sufficient to warrant a glowing review - but what really matters is that Johnny single-handedly SAVED OUR WEDDING.

One of the waitstaff at our venue (which itself is top-notch and also handled this situation well) was trying to steal gifts that our guests had left in our card box. Johnny saw the man in the act of stealing when Johnny was loading his car after the cocktail hour, and the man immediately ran to hide -- Johnny didn't just let the man go, but chased and confronted him, demanded he return the cards, and immediately reported him to the venue.

Johnny is a true gentleman, with a strong character and integrity. Beyond the money he saved us, the emotional impact was huge - Johnny turned what could have been a terrible situation into a positive one: instead of feeling violated by the waiter's theft, we feel immense gratitude towards Johnny and are reminded the good people do exist.

No need to keep looking - HIRE JOHNNY TODAY!!!!!!!

Johnny was brilliant playing the ukulele poolside at my daughter's graduation party! My daughter is a huge Disney fan, and Johnny played many of her favorite Disney songs with his own unique style. From beginning to end, perfect. Johnny arrived early and was ready to go once our guests arrived. Johnny began with some background music for our cocktail hour and dinner. Once dinner was over, although a solo performance, he had people on the dance floor the entire time. All our guests had a great time. He made our special day even more special and we highly recommend this talented musician!

We hired Johnny to play at our wedding on October 9, 2016. Johnny was awesome! Everyone at our wedding loved him. He played ukelele for our ceremony and did a beautiful job, and he also played piano for our cocktail hour. Super professional, super accommodating! Can't say enough great things about him. He really knows what he's doing. He also provided us with mics for our ceremony and he even learned some new songs to play for our ceremony on the ukelele. When we heard Johnny’s clips + saw his videos, we instantly fell in love with his laid-back, authentic style of performing + connecting with the guests. Johnny has a beautiful voice + an amazing range of styles. His passion for performing shines through + we feel grateful he was able to share his positive energy with us.

From the moment we reached out, Johnny was super responsive + easy to work with from the moment we connected through our ceremony. Russ + I met Johnny at a studio in Manhattan so he could play through options for us to choose from. It was super helpful to hear the songs live – piano + uke! Johnny also asked us for new song recommendations --- and learned them. At Johnny’s suggestion, we invite 4 guests to join in a “jam session” right before the processional. Johnny had extra hand drums + tambourines on-site for them to use. It livened up the moment + gave us the chance to incorporate our friends / family into our celebration. Johnny was awesome! We can't even put into words how amazing he was! He performed our ceremony, cocktail and first dance song. We follow his work and knew he was going to be amazing. Johnny is such a talented musician. Most important, he communicates very well and his professionalism just makes everything very easy. My special request with him is to play a song together and also lead the last song! I play piano, my friend sings and he accompanies on Ukulele. He sent me a perfect practice track and did a rehearsal with us before the party. He is on time, takes his own device and has flawless performance. When my guest's children want to sing songs, he has no issue to give a great introduction. His patience, passion, super friendly attitude are all I need. Johnny was awesome!! He made our intimate wedding vibrant and personalized with his musical talent! My husband and I had some special requests and he turned an 80's rock ballad (one of our more dramatic favorites) into a perfectly romantic first dance song. Johnny was simply amazing. He responded quickly to e-mails, and made the entire process stress free. Johnny was excellent! From the initial contact to the day of the wedding he was fantastic. He sent me recorded samples of the song we wanted for our ceremony the day I asked if he would sing it and even let us choose specific songs for our cocktail hour. Johnny provided us with terrific uke music during and before our ceremony! He was very courteous and responsive, and especially helpful getting us started in thinking about the specific songs we wanted. He also setup a keyboard and played during our cocktail hour after the ceremony. The ceremony and cocktail hour were not in the same place (maybe a 100 yards apart), but Johnny had no problem getting everything setup beforehand and was already in a groove by the time we finally made it over to the reception. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend him!

John was absolutely amazing to work with for our wedding ceremony at St. Mary's in Pompton Lakes, NJ. He met with us months before our event to help in choosing our ceremony songs. He played sample pieces for us to help in our selection. He gave us several choices and allowed us to even use our own music. John was an amazing musician who was extremely delightful and easy to work with. He took his time to meet with us and was very open to helping us select the music we wanted. He performed for us privately so we could get a feel for each song and was very patient with us.

Johnny Herbert gave my wife and I exactly what we were looking for for our wedding. We didn't want to have the traditional, sometimes thought to be boring, songs play at our wedding. He allowed us to pick some pop culture songs to be played in the wedding. A few he even had to take the time to learn before he could be able to play them at the wedding. At the end of the ceremony many of our guest comment on how impressed they were by the music selection and execution. My wife and I could not have been happier with the performance we were given. Our ceremony music was BEAUTIFUL! John has quite a talent on the piano and brought me to tears of joy during our first meeting when he played the song I chose for the bridal processional (Marry Me, by Train). Just stunning.

John is also professional, helpful and responsive - he met with with us several times to help us choose the most perfect songs for our wedding. He was quick to reply to emails and also spent time going over the details of the ceremony, which helped put our minds at ease before attending the rehearsal.

I initially contacted John through email about our wedding ceremony music, he was quick to respond and accommodating when setting up an appointment. When we met he was friendly and helpful; he played sample music on the piano to help make the decision process easier. The music on the day of our wedding sounded beautiful and I was extremely happy with John as our musician and the song choices we made. I would highly recommend John he did a great job.

John did an amazing job providing music for our wedding ceremony! He worked with us beforehand to make sure we were happy with the music, offering suggestions and allowing us to suggest ours. When he thought a choice was not quite right, he very tactfully steered us in the right direction. (We don't know a lot about music, so we really appreciated his guidance!) We had a Catholic ceremony, but my husband and his family are Jewish, and John helped us pick inclusive songs. He was very communicative in the months, weeks, and days before our wedding, often responding in fewer than 24 hours. He even offered to proofread my program to make sure all the music was written correctly. It was really nice to be confident in our selection and knowing that he would have everything taken care of. Very well recommended!!!

Beautiful voice and great talent

Johnny was amazing at our wedding! We were lucky enough for our church to choose him to fill in for when the usual church singer was on vacation for the summer. From the moment he reached out to us, he was organized and very easy to work with. He gave us a sheet with exactly what songs we would need and also had a list of recommendations in case we had trouble choosing. We met with him once so he could play us samples to see his talent and to hear some of the selections we could choose from. I chose some nontraditional church songs as well as traditional ones, and he did amazing with each song. Our guests enjoyed his music, and he sang Amazing Grace beautifully. He didn't even mess up or miss a beat when our flower MEN entered the building and starting spreading flowers everywhere. Our whole church was laughing, but Johnny did not let that affect the way that he was playing the piano. I highly recommend him. His piano skills are awesome as is his voice! Thank you so much!

Johnny was great! He arrived early despite traveling pretty far on a snowy day. He was very professional and so kind to all of the children who were "helping" him play the piano. Everyone at our party raved about the music. I would definitely recommend hiring Johnny for your event!

Johnny is the reason why you hear music live and not through a DJ or an Ipod.

I found Johnny by chance. We needed an organist for our Catholic wedding ceremony. We then decided that he should do both our wedding dinner .

Our priest loved him at Church. I don't say this often but this man can play an organ!

Johnny was superb at our dinner. He played a medley of Beatles, love songs, some current pop songs.

What makes Johnny great is that his voice is infectious (and not in The Voice kinda of way). He is and sounds like a classically trained musician. He adds his own "voice" to each and every song. We asked him to play Yael Naim's New Soul (from the Apple Mac Air commercials). He reinvented the song with his own cover. I cannot describe his voice but for a few moments, everyone stopped paying attention to the bride & groom.

We had a playlist of about 20 songs we wanted him to play. When he told us, he could only play 3. I was disappointed but now I understand. He won't play a song just for the sake of playing it. He wants to master it and recreate it.
