  Skip is Amazing!

  Skip brought an incredible combination of professionalism, humor, and care to our wedding process. He met with us several times to create our ceremony and gave us helpful advice along the way. He made us feel comfortable speaking in front of so many people and was very flexible when we asked to change something. We highly recommend Skip!

  Personalized Ceremony by Skip

  Skip married me and my husband on 9/30/23 and I would recommend him for any wedding services. Our wedding ceremony was non-traditional, we didn't have a lot of religious or spiritual readings. Instead we wanted Skip to focus more on our story and he did just that. Skip met with us over Zoom to talk about who we are as a couple to tailor his script to us. He met with us again to go over his whole speech and allowed us to make edits. At our wedding, Skip not only knew what to say, but also helped with our ceremony timing, helping me, my husband, and our wedding party know what cues they needed to be in the right place. Skip's speech was truly tailored to who we are. Our friends and family thought we knew Skip for years because of how personal his words were. Thank you so much Skip for making our wedding so special.

  Beautiful Ceremony

  Skip was an absolute professional. He wrote a gorgeous ceremony for us, that brought us to tears just upon draft review. He gave us both friendly guidance and practical resources to help manage the necessary bits of getting married. He was the best decision we made throughout our planning process.

  The best officiant around, hands down.

  Skip is easily the best officiant around and a no brainer decision for your wedding. For us, the ceremony was the most important part of the wedding, it’s kind of the whole point right?? So we wanted to find the right person who could make it that intimate, romantic, unique ceremony that defined our relationship. We wanted to do that without burdening a family member/friend with that challenge and forcing them to do some public speaking as well.
  
  So we began interviewing a few officiants and everything felt too cookie cutter or the connection was not there. Then we met Skip. We hit it off immediately and felt very comfortable sharing our lives and relationship with him. After our conversation, Skip drafted up a custom made ceremony just for us. When he read it back to us, my fiancé started crying and I knew that was a wrap. He has the ability to really see your love for what it is, capture it, then put it into words, no easy task. Everything was customizable but we made very few changes because of how well Skip had already done. He is very accommodating of guest speakers as well as we had multiple.
  
  During the rehearsal and on the day of, Skip is the king of cool. He makes everything run seamlessly and keeps everyone calm and poised throughout. Skip has such an enchanting demeanor that, during the ceremony it felt like it was just him, my fiancé, and I at the alter, meanwhile there was not a dry eye in the audience of our one hundred plus guests.
  
  Skip is very responsive to all correspondence and was very helpful in taking care of all the logistics in handling our marriage license. We are so thankful to have had him aboard during this journey, and you will be too.

  My husband and I had the incredible honor of having John 'Skip' Sweeney officiate our wedding ceremony, and it was one of the best decisions we could have ever made!
  
  Throughout our entire (and delayed) wedding process, Skip was with us every step of the way, offering excellent guidance and advice to make sure our wedding day was perfect. He truly listened to our wants and needs, and customized our ceremony to ensure nothing went overlooked. At the rehearsal, Skip was charming and witty, and kept our wedding party organized and on track for the big day.
  
  On the day of, Skip's presentation of our ceremony was nothing short of perfect. He was the quintessential professional – he coordinated well with our DJ for ceremony entrances/exits, and his natural cadence and speaking manner met the moment in the best way possible.   I couldn't imagine anyone else officiating our ceremony.

  Skip was absolutely amazing to work with the past year while planning the wedding. He came on recommendation from my matron of honor who had him officiate her wedding to her wife a few years ago. He was super flexible last year before we even sent him a deposit when we first met to see what he had for a ceremony for us while we went away for my birthday. He then accommodated my request to change a reading 2 weeks before the wedding, 10/10 would recommend.

  The best officiant

  Skip was so great to work with! We could not have a better experience from the beginning. He met with us a few times to get a sense of who we are as a couple and individuals to craft our ceremony. He worked with us on minor tweaks or changes we wanted to make, kept us on track to make sure we got our marriage license in time and his delivery during the ceremony was perfect!!

  Just shy of five years ago, Reverend Skip officiated the wedding of my sister and brother-in-law. After witnessing first hand Skip's friendly and warm personality, and sense of humor, I knew he would be someone I would remember for my big day. I was thrilled when I reached out to Skip and he told me he was available for our June 30th wedding. Leading up to the big day, he was wonderful to work with. So responsive, and so helpful with our questions about the marriage license process. After a phone call and a meeting in person, he took what he learned about us as a couple and weaved it through the ceremony he wrote to make it uniquely ours. He also helped us select readings for our two young ceremony readers. On our wedding day he made our ceremony so special with his sentiments and storytelling, and he reminded us to really stop and absorb the moment that we are pronounced husband and wife. Surrounded by our loved ones, it truly was a magical time and Skip made sure we would remember it always.

  Skip was the best! My husband and I weren’t sure what we really wanted for our ceremony. We wanted a little bit of everything- not too much of this, not too little of that. Skip had all the answers. He is so knowledgeable and helpful and was so fun to work with. We sat down with him at the start of our planning process and it was so easy to talk to him. He made us feel so comfortable and he really took the time to get to know us. After our first meeting with him we knew that he was the one for us!   Skip officiated our wedding this summer and did an amazing job. We spoke with a fair number of officiants from the Newport area, and we immediately felt most comfortable working with Skip. When we first started our wedding planning, we did not have a clear picture for how the ceremony would unfold, but we had some ideas. Skip was very patient, and generous with his time, and helped us come to an agreement on a great plan for a ceremony.
  
  As we got closer to the wedding date, Skip made sure we got our marriage license on time and he reviewed each of our vows and gave us feedback. On wedding weekend, it was great to have Skip by our side - he knew us well and made us and our families comfortable. I highly recommend Skip.

From the moment he responded to our first inquiry even to after the wedding, Skip has shown us true compassion and love. Skip is a true professional and helped us through every step of the way in ensuring everything went smoothly with the wedding license, wedding certificate, rehearsal, and the ceremony. From the moment he responded to our first inquiry even to after the wedding, Skip has shown us true compassion and love. Skip is a true professional and helped us through every step of the way in ensuring everything went smoothly with the wedding license, wedding certificate, rehearsal, and the ceremony.   We loved John Skip Sweeney! Communication was always really great which is really important in planning a wedding. Hes super friendly/ sweet/ and laid back. Our ceremony was just perfect. He took the time to get to know us and really got our vibe very quickly. We couldn't have asked for anyone better!

  Skip was absolutely fantastic! We met with several officiants and we loved him the moment we first met him! Our ceremony was perfect, which he wrote for us. It was an inter faith ceremony which he wrote so beautifully. He is very timely, and very professional. He was amazing the day of the wedding and made everyone feel so comfortable.

  We were so thrilled to have Skip as our officiant for our ceremony this past July. He scheduled a convenient time for us to talk on the phone one evening to get to know us as a couple. He took that information and put together a beautiful ceremony that was truly customized and exactly what we wanted. We then had a second in person meeting to review the plan, but had little to change because he was so on point! He kept it the length we wanted, selected amazing readings, and I loved the touches of humor he incorporated. Skip was responsive, professional, and I highly recommend him!

We changed our readings two days before the wedding, and he was more than happy to change the ceremony schedule to fit those in. He also brought copies of the readings to the wedding, we I really appreciated because I forgot to print them.   Skip was great from our very first meeting. He truly loves what he does and personalizes each of his ceremonies. We had an unruly bunch and he wrangled them all up during the rehearsal and ceremony. He was on time for every meeting and event. I was worried as i'd been to a few weddings where the JP was running late but he never was.

And many others said it was one of the best ceremonies they had been to. We spoke over the phone and then both met with him for an hour or so, and he crafted a perfect ceremony for us- one that had just the right amount of sentiment and humor.
