Loved working with John!

John is so easy to work with, and he can make even the most camera-shy (or camera-averse) family members look good! We really enjoyed working with him for both of our weddings (small backyard COVID-safe legal ceremony in 2020 and bigger celebration two years later). He was incredibly accommodating both times we postponed, and we are so grateful he was up for capturing our legal ceremony. We also really liked working with his second photographer, James, at our 2022 wedding. Both worked in tandem to capture some fabulous candid moments and portraits of a day we waited so long to have. Thank you for everything, John!

John is so talented!!

John is an amazing photographer. He took beautiful pictures for our wedding and made us all feel comfortable with his confidence in process & humor along the way. He brought along a great secondary photographer, and both of their pictures turned out amazing. I would definitely recommend his services to anyone looking for an event photographer in VA.

Captured precious moments 10/12/18

Very pleased with John's down to earth vibe and amazing eye for capturing the most natural, precious moments. He made us all feel at ease and comfortable, my husband and I were beyond happy with his work. Pricing was reasonable and he worked with us to accommodate for the day. Good guy and very friendly/helpful assistant.

John was such a pleasure to work with from the time we booked him over a year ago until the end of our reception! He was responsive and flexible to our requests, and made our special day run smoothly. My now husband and I could not be any happier with our decision to work with John Heredia for our wedding on 8/4/2018. Going into the wedding, we didn’t have specific shots or requirements. Instead, we gave John a few key people we wanted photos with and left the rest up to him. John and his assistant made us feel comfortable in front of the camera from the moment they started photographing the wedding party at the hotel up until the moment our reception ended. We both received numerous compliments from family, friends, and the wedding party on how great John and his assistant were. JOHN HEREDIA IS AMAZING! From the moment we met him, we knew that he would be the perfect fit for our big day. We not only did an engagement shoot but we also had John as part of our wedding day for 9 hours. We both loved how John really captures the beauty of the scenery while making us laugh and capturing our natural smiles. We can't overstate how amazing John's work is! We used him for our engagement photo session, and for our wedding and reception. First, we appreciated the easy-to-read contract and simple fee structure that spelled out all the details, and included no hidden fees. We got exactly what we asked for before the deadlines. We had a very small wedding, which comes with its own challenges. John ensured that he perfectly captured every moment, so by looking at the album, our wedding has the look and feel of a much larger affair. He took the time before the wedding day to get to know us, and he was always available for questions. All of the guests commented on how great John was! The bottom line is that if you're looking for a fairly priced, attentive and absolutely amazing photographer for any special occasion...you don't have to look any further that John! Thanks, John!

My husband and I LOVED working with John for our June 2016 wedding. John and his team were so professional and a breeze to work with. I cannot begin to say enough good things about John Heredia. We used him as our photographer for both our engagement shoot and our wedding and we were just so blown away with his artistry, passion and overall ease to work with.
When we were first researching wedding photogs we met with John to just get a feel for him and talk about options. He immediately put us at ease and it felt like talking to a friend rather than a salesperson pushing us into things we didn’t want. When we did our engagement shoot he was equally helpful in making us feel comfortable – this was especially huge since my husband isn’t typically very comfortable with posing for pictures. John helped us laugh and enjoy ourselves. I wasn’t really sure what I wanted or expected from engagement photos, but John guided us through them all (even working to have our beloved dog in a few shots!) and they turned out amazing!
The day of the wedding was exactly the same. He helped to make sure all of the bride and groom’s party and our many family members were comfortable in the photos. What was even more amazing is that he was so willing to work with me to create the desired photos. Beforehand he asked specifics about what I wanted from wedding photos, including timing. I have to admit, when it came to our wedding shots I had VERY specific ideas. John made sure that I got exactly what I wanted, and it was so nice to just relax on the day of the wedding and have him make my dreams a reality. The photos turned out amazing, and are such a great reflection of my husband and I, and our friends and families. John is so incredibly adaptable to whatever situation arises or whatever the bride and groom want! He knew how to incorporate the things that are important to us as a couple into our photos, and could totally read us (including when my husband was tired of taking photos at the reception and just wanted to go for a cocktail instead!). I would recommend John to anyone and everyone!

We met John Heredia about 1.5 years before our wedding and, after reviewing his incredible portfolio, we knew there was no one else we wanted to work with on our big day. Although we hadn't opted for an engagement shoot or anything else prior to the wedding day, John put us completely at ease and made our photographs feel effortless. He responded to all my emails quickly and was so thoughtful and insightful with his responses to my questions. His day-of skills managing my large, multi-faceted, and often unwieldy family members made the post-ceremony photoshoot flow easily and quickly. We now have our edited photos on a beautifully personalized wooden zip drive and each one is excellent. Everyone I've shown them to raves over how incredible they look. John and his team were amazing to work with. We chose one of the photo and video packages and are so happy we did! Both the photos and video we received afterwards were phenomenal. Fortunately my husband and I did a first look, because by the time the ceremony started, we had torrential downpours and had to quickly move everyone inside. John and the videographers moved seamlessly and were inside, set up, and ready to capture the ceremony. There was a quick break in the storm and John and the team got everything setup within about 30 minutes in two separate locations outside to make sure we got all of our remaining formal photos. Then, just to add more fun and keep John on his toes, there was a tornado warning! What's amazing is when you look at all the photos, you wouldn't have any idea there were any weather issues, everything looks stunning. We received a USB of our photos, and even the USB is a keepsake! It's wrapped in one of the photos from our first look - love it! We're beyond happy with everything we received. and would definitely recommend you get both photo and video!!

John worked with my new fiancé to capture the special moment of our proposal. A destination proposal can be a difficult moment to capture professionally on camera because of the planning that goes into it ahead of time [I live in NC, my fiancé lives in WA, and we got engaged in DC], but John was the perfect photographer for the job! The communication, responsiveness, and professionalism that John displayed from my fiancé’s initial contact with him all the way through the quick delivery of his amazing photos following the proposal, was impeccable. We chose an hour long session with 10 photos and were very pleased with the quality and quantity of time we spent with John and his wife, as well as the quality of the photos that John produced. I am so glad that we went with John Heredia as our photographer. We decided to do an engagement shoot before the wedding as well. To be honest, my fiance was a bit unsure about the whole idea of engagement shots since he's a bit more reserved, but John made everything so easy. He helped us relax during the shoot and we ended up having a lot of fun - and with several gorgeous photos that really captured us as a couple. John makes sure to get to know you beforehand, and that comes through in the final product. Afterward my fiance kept saying how glad he was that John was our photographer and that he was looking forward to the wedding shots because of how great our engagement shoot was. I can't say enough good things about John!

I used John Heredia this past June, and I later received 1300 edited photos in a custom photo wooden Zip drive. I would reccomend booking him early, but he is oh so worth the wait. He was incredibly professional and was always right where he needed to be to capture every special moment. He used the natural light to create beautiful romantic photos of me and my husband. All of my guests were so impressed with him. He was the only one there other than my husband that actually reduced the stress and busy feel of the day. His photos tell an incredible story, and he is an astonishingly talented photographer. Just go with whatever he reccomend, but gave me plenty of opportunities for my random spur of the moment ideas. FIVE STARS!!!

Like most brides, I was very nervous about finding a great photographer for my wedding. John really exceeded all of our expectations. He's truly a pleasure to work with because not only is he extremely talented but he is so organized and responsive! I really appreciated the fact that John was so accessible to talk on the phone or email about details before and after the wedding. John did an amazing job with our engagement and wedding photos. We spoke with many photographers before deciding to go with John Heredia Photography. When we first spoke to John, we immediately felt that he would be a great photographer to work with, and we were right. John is professional, accommodating, and easy and FUN to work with. On our wedding day, John came to the hotel to take pictures, then accompanied us to Ft McHenry and Federal Hill for additional photos. He and his staff knew exactly what they were doing and they were very efficient without compromising quality. John's photographs on his Web site speak for themselves. While we were at the ceremony and reception, we barely knew John and his team were there, yet when we wanted a group photo, we knew exactly where to find him. We highly recommend John and his team for your wedding photographs (or any event)! We couldn't have asked for a more professional and delightful experience. A friend once told me that if there's one part of the wedding where you shouldn't cut costs, it should be the photographer. She was right; the photos will remain forever. Making a ~$2,000 investment on photographs that will last forever and that will trigger memories of a perfect day is entirely worth it. John has many price packages from which to choose, and each package can be tailored to suit your needs. Sidenote: our wedding was a same-sex marriage, so we wanted to be extra scrutinous when it came to our vendors as SSM, at the time, was still relatively new and we were aware that some vendors might be put off by this. Working with John and his team in this regard was a breeze. If any other same-sex couples are looking for a photographer, be sure to talk to John!

John did our engagement photos and the photos for our wedding and we could NOT have been happier with the final product. He got every shot we wanted on our big day and then some! My husband and I wanted to make it a tradition to take "nice photos" around our anniversary every year, so of course we thought of John. For the past two years, John has met us in places around Baltimore for a quick (one hour) session. We use these photos for our Christmas cards and then to have them (in some cheesy way, to look back at when we are older!). We have been so happy with these small sessions with John and he always takes photos that we love. He is super flexible and easy to work with and we definitely look forward to continuing this in the future!

John Heredia and his team were amazing for the wedding. He worked with us early on to figure out what kind of mood we wanted for that day as well as types of pictures and number of family pictures. He worked with us to get the best deal in terms of when to utilize a second photographer to save money and still get all the pictures that we wanted in. The number and quality of pictures that were captured were great all the while I never felt like any of the photographers were in our face or taking over a moment. It was all done very professionally and smoothly. Highly recommend.

After a charming spring-time engagement shoot in a park, and a timeless wedding shoot at a botanical garden, my husband and I asked John Heredia to work with us to capture our very first pregnancy. Having had two prior extremely positive experiences with John, we had every confidence that our maternity photo shoot would be a tremendous success! In scheduling the appointment, John was responsive, attentive, and detail-oriented. In conducting the photo shoot, John's artistry and creativity was very much apparent! He took lovely photos of my husband and I, finding elegant ways to feature my growing belly. John even incorporated a pretty little yellow and white lace dress into the photo session (a gift for Baby Girl from my Great Aunt). We cannot say enough positive things about John and his work. He is an artist and a professional - you can't ask for more. We fully anticipate inviting him back to capture images of our growing family!

John Heredia and his team has helped make sure we never forget our wedding day. We have some amazing pictures to remind us of the most amazing days of our lives! Unbeknownst to us, he managed to capture some of the most memorable moments of our wedding celebrations without making us feel like fish in an aquarium.
The most amazing thing about John was his willingness to work within our budget (which was not a whole lot), be flexible with us on time, bring an additional photographer to the event and not charge us an arm and a leg to attend two events on two different days in two different cities.
We were blessed to have him attend our wedding functions. The pictures are simply stunning and 9 months later we still feel like we are reliving our wedding day every time we look at our over 1000 pictures. His eye for detail was amazing! He noticed the unique cuff links and detail in the jewelry and even managed to photograph the inscriptions on our wedding rings. He was non-intrusive during all the wedding ceremonies and he beautifully captured every detail of our Indian wedding ceremony.
He was wonderful to work with and we recommend him to everyone that asks.

John Heredia and his team are talented people. Simply top-notch. The level of professionalism, courtesy, artistry, and skill is unparalleled. Reader beware: this is about to be a glowing review of one of the most gifted photo professionals we've ever had the pleasure to work with!

After getting rained out no fewer than 3 times, our springtime engagement photo shoot took place on the Friday before Memorial Day (May 23, 2014). John Heredia was incredibly patient with us, understanding that a rainy/gray morning was not an ideal backdrop for our engagement photos. He was also super responsive to our emails, and worked hard to accommodate our busy work schedule. John helped us come up with a photo package that worked within our budget, which was incredibly important for a new couple that was bearing the cost of the wedding.

John arrived at our home a few minutes ahead of schedule and took the time to familiarize himself with our vision for the photos (at our home and at Great Falls park). His attention to detail, foresight, and planning made for an incredibly effective (and efficient) photo shoot! We were able to get a lot of beautiful photos without a lot of delay and time lost in the transition between poses.

John is an artist. That becomes apparent immediately. It’s fair to say that there is a certain formula for engagement photography. John mastered this formula and then took it to another level. He thinks about light, posture, location, color, and chemistry all while directing us and managing to take numerous photos using various photo equipment. His ability to multi-task to elevate his artistry is a tell-tale sign of an experienced professional. John put us at ease, made good suggestions. The results were absolutely wonderful images!

Hiring John Heredia was one of the best decisions we made in the chaotic months before our wedding. We also hired John for our wedding photography (and videography) and hope to work with him again on future photo projects (i.e., new baby, family reunions, other happy occasions). We can't recommend him highly enough!

John is an amazing photographer. He has done several weddings in my family alone and I would recommend him to anyone who would ask. He listened to everything my husband and I asked for and wanted. His vision is uncomparable and it's just a wonderful experience. He was unobtrusive and understanding and gave my wedding the exact feel that I wanted. John was hands down the most reliable, helpful, fantastic photographer I could imagine. From his reminder emails when payments were due, to helpful tips to make my husband (and even myself) relax in front of the camera...to the stellar, artistic, unique shots John captured of not only my husband and I but our guests as well...we are SO thankful we went with John Heredia Photography. John and his team were the photographers for my daughters small wedding in June. They were wonderful. Both were professional, timely, creative and the photos couldn't be better. My daughter (the bride) does not like having her picture taken, so John had his hands full. He was able to get beautiful pictures while keeping my daughter comfortable throughout the entire event.

My husband and I could not be more pleased with John Heredia Photography. His pictures are amazing and capture every moment of our wedding, from the typical "in-the-church" shots to fabulous candid photos of us, our family, and our friends. We had a wonderful time working with John and his professional team. John made the planning process very easy with his timely manner and expertise. John was open to our ideas and was excited to take the photos that we had imagined. The day of he made us all feel very relaxed. He was very efficient so we didn't feel like we spent the whole day taking photographs. Unfortunately, it began raining during cocktail hour so we had to take a lot of shots inside. John quickly adjusted to the change and it all ran smoothly. After formal shots were finished, John and his team continued to take photos longer than had expected. We didn't even notice that they were taking photos, which really made us feel at ease.
John was fun, quick, responsive, and fantastic to work with. We can't wait to get our photos!

I cannot even begin to describe how amazing it was to work with John and his team for our wedding. From our first interaction with John, it was clear that our photography was going to be about us and the story of our life. We chose to work with John for our engagement photos first and that gave us a glimpse into the kind of work that John did. He captured exactly what we wanted in all of our favorite places in Baltimore and the photos turned out AMAZING! And best of all- they were totally us and not what you would find everyone else having. John's charisma and personality is awesome to work with and he just made us excited about our photos! That can be helpful when you might feel a little shy!

As for our wedding day, John and his team was so accommodating and met us at different locations and captured different moments I thought were super important- first look, first look with my dad, traditional wedding photos. BUT, John also worked in our dog (who is like our furry child!) and did so without any hesitation. I mean to find a photographer who will willingly work with a dog AND a 2 year old flower girl on the same day is truly amazing! And John did it all knowing that it was a part of our "story".

Throughout our wedding day, I never felt posed or fake for the sake of pictures. We were able to capture those traditional moments and also those with our own flare. It was amazing to work with John and I hope that this will not be the last time!

My husband and I were so grateful to have John Heredia photograph our recent wedding! After seeing his work for my brothers engagement session and wedding we couldn't not have John be a part of big day as well! From booking John, to the details of the engagement and wedding arrangements, everything was smooth and stress free, I never had a doubt that we would be happy with the end result. We have been VERY happy with John's services. The albums were beautiful and high quality, we would have enjoyed looking at them even if we didnt know any of the people in it... John was awesome and had a great personality. We are not the easiest to take good pictures of, but John was awesome. He got the traditional shots as well as several other precious moments we weren't aware of until our pictures came back (such as the flower girl sleeping). He was non-obtrusive and also very helpful and professional. We had interviewed someone else prior to John and I'm positive between John's personality and quality of work, we couldn't have asked for better for our wedding!

John was amazing from the beginning. I'm from PA and he's in MD, but he came up to PA for our engagement photos and he did an amazing job at those. My fiance is a bit apprehensive about PDA's, but John made him feel so comfortable and we got great photos. We just had our wedding and John worked over time, he was always flashing photos and got everyone I asked for. His artistic point of view creates beautiful photos!

John Heredia is incredibly talented!
John Heredia is an amazing photographer. We wanted a mix of some posed shots and candid shots which would capture the emotion of our wedding day. The pictures turned out amazingly and did exactly that. John managed to truly capture the varied emotions of the many parts of our day without us even realizing he was there. I really felt like I was reliving the emotion of the day looking at the pictures. John and his wife, Jen, work so well together working to get the perfect shot. By the end of our wedding day, it felt like John and Jen were part of the family with how easily they got along with everyone and how comfortable they made everyone feel! I loved the quality of the pictures John took of our wedding. He knows how to capture the perfect angle, light and moment. He was very professional, but not stuffy and had a lot of input which was great. We also received the digital and hard copies of our pictures quite fast. During the two years I planned my wedding, I spent at least 6 months researching photographers. Once I stumbled upon John, I stopped. I immediately fell in love with the quiet, unobtrusive way he captured emotion in his photography. I am incredibly picky when it comes to art in all its forms, photography being prized amongst the mediums. John's unique style brought to mind one of my favorite artists, Edward Hopper. Although the mediums are different, the two share the uncanny ability to capture and explore exact human emotion in a single moment. I got married in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in 2011 and John was my wedding photographer. He traveled to Mexico with us for the weekend and was so flexible when it came to all of the arrangements. He went above and beyond to capture photographs at all of our weekend wedding events but without being intrusive. He is very professional yet makes you feel comfortable and at ease when taking the formal shots. His wife accompanied him as his assistant and by the end of the weekend they were really a part of the family. Everyone absolutely loved them and the pictures from our wedding are truly amazing. He captured everything so beautifully and there wasn't a moment that was missed. I highly recommend him and will be using him for all of our future photography needs!

John did the photography at a friend's wedding and when they referred him to us, the first thing we realized was that we never even noticed him at her wedding, which I liked. I saw his sample books and was impressed. And I was so happy when my album turned out to be just as impressive as the samples he showed me. He was prompt, professional, fun, and the pictures he took were absolutely beautiful! Even more so was the creative way he put them together in the album. I LOVE it! I have NO complaints about him or his services and would recommend him to my best friend.

Great value, gorgeous photos!

We're really glad we decided to work with John. He covered our wedding with an associate, and they were both very professional, flexible and kind. It rained all day on our wedding, and John took it in stride and helped us shoot some amazing outdoor photos with the clear umbrellas we had bought. All of the photos really captured the look and feel of our wedding, and there were so many good shots. He delivered almost 600 photos and I hit "favorite" on almost 400 of them! I seriously couldn't stop looking at them for days after receiving them. Thank you, John, for capturing our beautiful day (and making me look pretty beautiful in the process!).
