John is an amazing photographer. He took our engagement and wedding photos. We had a fairly large wedding with about 180 people. Our ceremony was at a Catholic church and the reception at a golf course. John got so many wonderful photos. The best photos are non-posed moments that only a great photographer can capture- John was able to capture those moments. He took so many great photos. The cost was extremely reasonable and worth every penny. Having a great photographer at your wedding is so important. You cannot go wrong with John Decker!!!

John Decker's 's a friend and former coworker, and we were elated when he agreed to be the photographer for our April 2011 wedding. He’s worked as a photojournalist, most recently with the Sacramento Bee, was Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s official photographer, and now is out on his own. We had a preference for a documentary-style photographer for our wedding, and that’s exactly what we got. But he also pushed us into a couple of more artsy photos. We trusted him, and he was right. Our photos are fabulous. We couldn't have asked for a more responsible, responsive or amazing photographer. As with our other vendors, he wasn't the cheapest, but he provided great value for his skills and photos.

Nothing short of brilliant, John provided a perfect combination of creativity, passion, skill, and professionalism for our wedding. A true artist, John captured all of our most important moments with a deft touch. John was able to improvise and be flexible with the evolution of our day. He's a great communicator, and we would recommend him to the highest degree. Thanks, again, John.

My husband and I absolutely love the photos of our wedding (and so did our friends- many have ended up using him after seeing our photos). We wanted a photographer who would work with our requests for pictures of guests enjoying the day and providing a photojournalistic flare to our photos, while also giving us a few traditional wedding shots. Boy did we hit the jackpot! John caught countless special moments during the wedding and reception with his natural eye for candid shots, and truly captured the spirit and feeling of the event. He was also able to take many beautiful bridal party photos that incorporated the natural beauty and light of our outdoor venue. It was obvious that years of experience with various styles of photography gave him the tools to take photos that were far above and beyond our expectations. John is extremely talented in his craft, but also has a great sense of humor and is one of the easiest people to get along with. He was professional yet personable, provided helpful direction without ever staging photos, and was always quick to respond to us when we had questions. It is quite apparent that he enjoys what he does, which is reflected in both his photography and how he approaches working with clients. I would recommend John to anyone, hands down. He is a photographer with artful talent, good communication, attention to detail, and the ability to cater his style to your requests. I will tell you now that with John Decker, your friends will envy your photos!

John did an excellent job shooting our engagement, save the date, rehersal, and wedding photos. He's a true professional and we really enjoyed working with him. His photo-journalism background really comes out in our pictures. I highly recommend him.

My (now) husband and I were so fortunate to have John as our wedding photographer this past September. I originally fell in love with his style of photography while browsing through photos of weddings throughout the Sac/SF area and beyond, and I can now say that he was my favorite wedding vendor throughout the entire process.

John was highly professional to work with, and was very friendly and engaging with our wedding party and guests. I was so happy when he showed up while I was getting ready on our wedding day, and that is always a good sign! He made me laugh through what could have been a stressful time. He provided JUST the right amount of direction to get the shots that he wanted, while allowing everything to play out naturally. Looking through our wedding photos now, I can relive that day through the story they tell because of how well he captured everything... such a gift to us!

He provided more than I had expected in terms of our prints as well, and he sent them to us in the most beautiful photo box that we will have forever (total surprise)! I have had so many compliments on our wedding photos, and I know John's work speaks for itself. John was such a great person to work with! We initially reached out to him because we has seen photos he had taken at another wedding that was at the venue we had chosen. The images were beautiful and we couldn't wait to meet with him. During our first meeting, we discussed things we were looking for in both a photographer and in our final images. John was very receptive to our ideas and desires and offered plenty of great suggestions of his own. It was very apparent, right from the start, that he was very knowledgeable and had many years of experience, which gave me peace of mind. We scheduled an engagement session with him and it was a great way to get to know each other and establish a nice working relationship. We were VERY pleased with how our engagement photos turned out and loved sharing them with our friends and family. John was always very prompt when responding to e-mails or phone calls and I always walked away from our conversations feeling like we were on the same page. When the day of our wedding arrived, John and our second shooter Ann were on time and ready to shoot! They spent more than 12 hours shooting that day and were there to capture every little moment. Our photos (over 1600 of them) turned out so lovely and we consider ourselves so lucky to have our wedding documented so beautifully! I highly recommend John to anyone who is looking for a hands-on, experienced and friendly photographer. You won't be disappointed!

John did a wonderful job as your wedding photographer. He was very professional, hardworking, and had a great eye for creative and beautiful shots. We couldn't be happier with the final product - he delivered gorgeous, amazing photos that captured our entire wedding day. He's also got a great personality and he's easy to work with. The day of our wedding, the photo taking was very easy and smooth, and he gave good direction. Our photos were delivered on time and according to contract and his prices were very reasonable. We interviewed 8 photographers and John outshined them all and we're so happy we chose him! Hire him and you won't be dissapointed.

John was fabulous. Not only were the pictures absolutely gorgeous (and I wasn't the only one who thought so - my entire family thinks that every photo he took is their favorite!), but John was so easy to work with. He captured some of the most gorgeous shots of me and my new husband where the shadow created by the two of us forms a little heart on the ground. He placed us exactly in the light of the setting sun and we were just illuminated against the dark background. He does wonders with lighting whether its low lighting like in a night club or at sunset. When we went around town to take pictures with the bridal party, he took charge and made the experience unforgettable! I would recommend him to everybody and anybody who wants a stellar photographer for their special day. And he was quick to get us our pictures back!

John was a fantastic photographer. He took beautiful pictures that really captured the feel of our wedding. He was great before, during and after the wedding, communicating with us the entire time. He blended in with our guests the day of and took all of our suggestions right away. We had a fantastic time with him! He has been great since the wedding too. He got our pictures to us really quickly and they turned out fantastic. He also gave us a DVD and released the rights to our pictures right away so we could make our own prints and picture books.

We sprung for the photo booth and it was more than worth it. We have fantastic pictures of all of our guests that are funny and original. I highly recommend the photo booth, it was one of the best parts of our picture collection.

I cannot adequately express how wonderful it was to have John as our wedding photographer.

He is kind, smart, thorough, talented and funny. Oh, and he takes amazing photographs! Everyone at the wedding raved about John's work.

At our venue, there was a back porch, and unbeknownst to us, John had set up a self-portait section on the back porch, where our friends and family could click themselves and each other in addition to the professional photographs.

An experienced photojournalist, John didn't just capture the standard wedding shaps. He captured truly intimate moments that we cherish.

What are you waiting for? Hire him!

We were extremely pleased with the photos that John took! Our package was a great deal as well, albeit a tad on the expensive side. The second photographer was not as good as John. It's easy to decipher who took which photos. Highly recommend John, not so much on the second shooter.

We did our ceremony on the beautiful hills of a Sonoma Winery. The way the winery coordinated it, there was limited time on the hill where the event was to be – so John had to be able to scout the location on the fly, set up his equipment, coordinate with his second shooter – all while still documenting the bride (my soon-to-be) in the limo, and the overall event.

What John captured was the day as I remember it, and he captured it beautifully. John is also a modern digital photographer, which means he isn't stingy on taking shots (as many who are trained on film seem to be). He also did a spectacular job with the group shots and the candids.

We could not have been more pleased with the quality of work, responsiveness (we had 5 key shots to look at that evening, and all digital files within 2 weeks, tho the contract said it may be 2 months). The package of physical photos that arrived shortly after was one of the most beautiful keepsakes I've ever seen for a wedding.

Sorry if this is over-gushing, but we were quite pleased with John's talent, work ethic, and overall service.
