Topnotch makeup artist and person

There are not enough superlatives to describe our experience working with Joanna. Not only did she do incredibly beautiful makeup for my daughter, myself, and the bridesmaids, she went way above and beyond during the pre-ceremony photo session. It was outside on a hot day and Joanna made sure the bride stayed cool and that her makeup remained flawless. She was quick to provide touch-ups all the way up until the bride walked down the aisle. Absolutely phenomenal service and a truly lovely person as well.

Loved Joanna!

I need to find more excuses to get my makeup done so I can work with Joanna again. She did mine/my mom/bridesmaids makeup for my wedding and made everyone look and feel amazing without anyone feeling overdone. Aside from her amazing work, she brings the best energy to an otherwise overwhelming day. It's been a few days and I just keep thinking back on how great I felt in my makeup- definitely use Joanna!!

The absolute best

There are almost no words to describe how unbelievably talented Joanna is!! After getting engaged I started following Chicago based makeup artists on Instagram and once I found Joanna I knew I needed to have her do the makeup for my big day. My fiancé and I had a two year engagement and I still wasted no time booking Joanna as my makeup artist because I just couldn’t risk losing her availability for our day! Joanna makes you feel absolutely stunning and does it all so effortlessly. On my wedding day I felt so beautiful and more importantly felt like myself! She knows how to make you look and feel like an elevated version of yourself. Along with this, I had 9 bridesmaids and the MOB also getting their makeup done and all of them were blown away by their makeup! I’ve never been a part of a wedding where every single person loved their makeup until now. She's the BEST!

Hands down, Joanna is the best person you could have on your wedding team. Not only is she super talented but she is so patient and simply the nicest human. She helped me decide between several different makeup looks leading up to the wedding and turned what little I was able to articulate into my perfect wedding look vision. I also had some bridal party members who were very particular about their makeup day-of but she handled them like the pro that she is. My whole bridal party raved about their looks all day.

During what can be a stressful morning, Joanna instantly puts you at ease with her calm presence and amazing talent. I left for my ceremony feeling the most beautiful I had ever felt and my makeup looked flawless all night long. I cannot recommend her enough! Could not have been happier!

If I could, I would give Joanna 10 stars. She was my first and only call when booking a make up artist for my wedding. I absolutely loved my make up, and Joanna is the best when it comes to pulling together a cohesive "look" with your make up, dress, and hair. All of my bridesmaids and both moms commented on how much time she spent on everyone and how personal and attentive she was. Everyone felt special that day getting ready with her :) She is also such a positive and calming presence, definitely someone you want to be around on such a busy and big day. I could not recommend her more!

Can’t recommend Joanna enough!

From my first email with Joanna I knew I made the right choice in hiring her to do my make up on my wedding day. She is unbelievably kind, patient, and easy going. She’s extremely timely in her email responses and reliable, which you need with your wedding vendors!

She helped me with tips for skin prep leading up to the wedding in person during trials, then went above and beyond emailing me a summary of those tips with links. She’s so knowledgeable about all things skin prep. She’ll give you honest feedback on anything you ask her advice about. She’s just incredible.

I had her do my make up for my engagement photos, wedding trial, rehearsal dinner, and wedding day. Each time I saw her you could tell she listened to what I previously said and her attention to detail is impeccable. I was indecisive about what I wanted for my make up and she helped me figure it out being patient and kind the entire time. She followed up after each appointment to check how the make up lasted and for feedback. I’ve never loved how my make up looked when I have had it done professionally before, but I truly have never loved my make up more than when Joanna did it. I am thinking of any excuse to have her do my make up again. The make up she did for me on my wedding day was honestly absolutely perfect. It’s exactly what I wanted but better. She also gave a make up kit for touch ups and runs your MOH through what’s included in it so you don’t have to worry at all. But I didn’t even need touch ups because it was so perfect.

Not only is she incredibly detail oriented in her communication, skin prep tips, and make up, but she’s the kind of person you want to have around on your wedding day. Her easy going, go with the flow, and fun personality make the day much more relaxing and enjoyable. Everyone who got their make up done looked amazing and had nothing but good things to say about Joanna.

I truly cannot recommend her enough and absolutely loved my experience working with Joanna.

Best makeup artist!

Joanna did makeup for my bridal party for our wedding on the 25th of June. From the very beginning of my trial to our big day she was amazing. She’s so kind and not to mention insanely talented. I feel SO lucky to have had Joanna do my makeup for my wedding day. She is incredibly talented and organized.

From the moment I met Joanna B at my makeup trial, I knew that I was in the best hands. I immediately felt relieved knowing that my makeup artist truly cared about me and what I wanted on my wedding day.

She has a gift of making you feel super comfortable in your own skin. She does this by carefully listening to your requests, needs and every detail that you care about. She remembers everything.

I had 17 bridesmaids and Joanna helped me create a “getting ready” schedule that allowed us to not only be on time but be early.

On top of that, Joanna provided me with a makeup kit to take on my wedding day and even checked in with me the day after my wedding. She is the most thoughtful person.

The best wedding glam in Chicago!!!

I hope this review will do our experience with Joanna justice - there are truly not enough good words to describe her and her business!! Joanna is the MOST TALENTED makeup artist - she did my makeup four times throughout my wedding events and every time she had the best recommendations with totally separate looks! My entire wedding party was blown away by her expertise - she has an incredible ability to give anyone an elevated glam look, but also still looking uniquely you!!! She is also the kindest, most warm person - you just want to be her friend the minute you meet her! Joanna came highly recommended to me by a friend in the wedding industry, and it’s no surprise she’s so loved in the Chicago wedding world. She is truly the best in the business. When I got engaged, I knew right away I had to have Joanna do my makeup! And she did not disappoint. She was very responsive to my emails and listened to what I wanted on my wedding day! True Talent!

Joanna is SO talented! She was able to re-create my vision from only a picture and did so without making me look too 'done up.' First Vendor I Booked! Joanna is the BEST!

When I got engaged in June 2019 the first message I sent was to Joanna to coordinate when she was available with the wedding dates we were considering, I had followed her for a while on Instragram leading up to getting engaged and I absolutely loved her work and knew I had to have her for my wedding day. She was incredible to work with through it all- makeup for my engagement photos and multiple reschedulings due to Covid, but boy was it worth the wait! Joanna is a true professional and incredibly talented, I never felt so beautiful as I did on my wedding day! Not only was my makeup perfection, but it stayed all day & night through many cries, and I was well equipped to touch up throughout the day thanks to Joanna's touch up kit. My entire bridal party and mom/MIL loved their makeup and looked so beautiful, and I cannot recommend Joanna enough! Wow, where to start... Joanna was referred to me by my photographer who had nothing but good things to say about her. After our first phone call, I truly trusted Joanna with my wedding day look and vision - she was the best combination of personable and professional, and I just knew I would be in good hands. From there, she helped me source my hairstylist - she even went above and beyond to do outreach on her own and check on avails (!!) From start to finish, she was incredibly organized and responsive, which was KEY to making sure the wedding weekend ran smoothly (especially with 10 bridesmaids and 2 moms). Even when unforeseen circumstances pushed our wedding day timeline back, Joanna stayed calm, cool, and collected under pressure - which helped me more than I can put into words! On top of all this, she is incredibly kind AND talented! She did my makeup for my engagement pictures, rehearsal dinner, and wedding day - and I've never felt more beautiful. Even my now-husband made a point to say he liked my makeup, and he's a "no makeup" kind of guy. The Absolute Best

We had to split up our ceremony from our reception due to COVID restrictions and after making sure we had the venue rebooked for a later date, Joanna was the next thing I booked. She is incredible. I have nothing but respect and good things to say about Joanna, both as a skilled makeup artist and the way she runs her business. She was the first person recommended to me by my venue from previously doing some work there and stuck out as an absolute favorite. Initially she wasn't available on my date, but was super helpful in trying to provide referrals. Lucky for me, she ended up having a cancellation on the date I was looking for and appreciated her getting in touch right away. Joanna was my makeup artist for my wedding in July. She was extremely talented, timely, and professional. I cannot give her higher remarks! She made me feel so beautiful without me feeling like I had too much makeup on. My bridesmaids also raved about their makeup! I booked Joanna for my wedding two weeks ago and I am so glad I did! She was amazing to work with and is super talented. Joanna is great at understanding/listening to your preferences and vision. She is down to earth and flexible all while being professional. My trail was super helpful, she was open to any feedback (didn't have too much feedback since my makeup was awesome on the first go around!) which made the wedding day go smoothly and perfect! Cream of the Crop!

I am so thankful that I found Joanna! I searched for a long time for a makeup artist that would listen, customize my look, and truly make me feel like myself by enhancing my natural features on my wedding day, vs. the cookie-cutter look I see on a lot of people. Not only was this important to me personally, but I knew it would be important to my Mom and Bridesmaids. Joanna OVER-delivered! Not only is she incredibly talented, professional, detailed, and thorough, but she is sweet, a great listener, and so patient. We even did a 1:1 consultation in between the trial and Big Day because I realized there are so many bridal events and I hadn't touched my makeup much over the last year, so she walked me through some tips and tricks and sent a shopping list of fresh products to replenish my makeup inventory. Finally, the icing on the cake was how beautiful she made my Mom feel and look. My Mom never wears makeup, so seeing her all done-up was so special. I would recommend Joanna in a heartbeat to anyone - and if you are considering her, I would say book FAST before you miss out!

Joanna B Artistry emphasis on ARTISTRY!

Our wedding was almost 1 month ago, and I’ve been trying for weeks to find the appropriate words that convey the gratitude I have for Joanna (Joanna B. Artistry). Joanna is one of a kind, extremely personable and a true professional in the industry. Our original wedding date was set for 8/15/20 and getting engaged less than a year before, I was in a rush to lock in my team of vendors. I reached out to a friend who sent me multiple MUA suggestions, one being Joanna, as my friend was a bridesmaid in a recent wedding of hers. Joanna was available for my date and after chatting on the phone I quickly locked her in for myself plus 8 bridesmaids, my mom and future mother in law. We did my initial makeup trial in December 2020 and I was the bride that brought a few inspiration photos but didn’t really give much direction to the look I was going for. Joanna was patient, confident and so skilled that she knew what look would complement my features/skin tone and went to work. She delivered A+ bridal glam while still having me look like my natural self, false lashes and all. She even updated my look right then after the trial by adding a red lip for my engagement shoot that afternoon, which was such a sweet and unexpected gesture.

Fast forward to spring 2020, pandemic in full swing and a new wedding date of 6/26/21. Joanna stuck with me through all the many changes, didn’t take advantage of the situation by adding contract addendum fees and even offered a Black Friday deal for rehearsal dinner glam for her brides. She stayed in touch, checked in and made me feel confident and excited for our new wedding date. Joanna also stayed on top of beauty and makeup trends while events were all cancelled or postponed during the spring. Her Instagram is my favorite as she shares honest opinions/reviews about both skin and makeup products.

I also booked another make up session for round 2 engagement photos with Joanna that October and it’s true talent when you can create multiple looks on the same person for different occasions. On the wedding day, Joanna brought an assistant with her (as planned) for our wedding day as we had 11 people total and her assistant was top of the line talent as well. My whole bridal party felt beautiful and our makeup lasted the entire night without even needing to touch up (although Joanna provides her brides with a generous touch up kit, just in case). It’s also important to note that it was raining sideways and extremely humid, but looking at the bridal party, you’d never know judging by our long lasting glam.

I highly recommend getting your makeup done for the rehearsal as well as I wish there was a recording of my reaction when Joanna showed me the “finished product” in the mirror. I was SO excited and after already having 2 trials, having one the day before the wedding made me confident that I would feel like my best self on the biggest day of my life and let me tell you, I did. I have never felt so beautiful in my entire life. I have also never seen my mom look so gorgeous and it made me happy that she was so happy! I call Joanna a wizard because she’s casually chatting with you, so calm, focused and voila! hands you the mirror and it’s truly a natural work of art. Amazing makeup artist!

I couldn't have been happier with Joanna as the makeup artist on my wedding day. She's a true artist and was so great at tailoring her work to exactly what everyone wanted and felt comfortable with. She's a perfectionist and made sure everyone looked as glamorous as possible, while still looking like themselves. My mom had never gotten professional makeup done before and she nearly cried at how great she looked! Plus, Joanna was so lovely and fun to boot - we all had a blast hanging out with her. Joanna is a pro through and through! Not only is she a talented makeup artist, but her customer service is top-notch too. She's incredibly organized and responsive, which is a MUST when you're looking for someone to do your makeup for an important life event. I was so happy with her work for my engagement photo shoot and wedding, that I'm searching for another reason to hire her again! On top of everything I've already mentioned, Joanna went out of her way to recommend a few hair stylists, and even contacted them in advance to make sure they were available the day of my wedding. Cannot Stop Raving About Joanna!

Joanna was the makeup artist for my wedding in April 2021 and I cannot say enough good things about her! From her positive attitude, timeliness, understanding of skincare/make up she really knocked it out of the park! She was accommodating and understanding during the pandemic which I think every bride can appreciate. My bridesmaids and I cannot stop raving about how much they loved Joanna's makeup style and how they looked that day! A lot of them were worried about looking unnatural or like they had too much makeup on (due to previous experiences with other artists) and Joanna really listened and helped make sure everyone felt beautiful! So many shout outs to her for making the day so special for me and my girlfriends!

Incredible work

Joanna is professional, warm, and an incredible artist! I worked with her during my microwedding in early 2021, and she was SO easy to work with. She's super responsive and flexible, which when downsizing from a 150 person wedding to a 10 person dinner party is an absolute must. Her work is also gorgeous; my friend and I had totally different makeup ideas, and Joanna ran with both of them and created beautiful looks. They held up all day through dinner, dancing, and quite a few happy tears. I can't wait to work with her again!

Wonderful!

I contacted Joanna super last minute (hard to plan a wedding in a pandemic) and she responded within minutes eager to help. My make-up looked absolutely flawless for my wedding. I don't typically wear a lot of make-up, but I felt completely natural and beautiful on my wedding day. Joanna is also amazing when it comes to sanitizing and cleaning, which eased my worries. I felt the most beautiful i've ever looked!

After extensive research, I decided to go with Joanna. She was very easy to work with and very flexible and beyond willing to work with your style preference. Bride in the era of COVID-19

I was supposed to have my wedding on May 9, but am unable to because of our global pandemic. There are not enough words to describe how wonderful Joanna is! From the very beginning of the wedding planning process, she was super responsive, kind, helpful, and easy to talk to. As an out of town bride, I had little availability to come in for a makeup trial, but she was so flexible and accommodating with scheduling - I so appreciated this! Prior to the wedding and the makeup trial, she also did my makeup for our engagement photos and I knew immediately I couldn’t have made a better choice. Joanna is an incredibly talented makeup artist – she really makes an effort to get to know you as a person, your makeup preferences, and the style of your wedding, and then uses her expertise to create a look that truly makes you feel like your best self!

I was actually really nervous about my wedding makeup because my skin is so unpredictable when it comes to breakouts/redness, but Joanna helped me feel more confident than ever on my wedding day. We (including my mom, MIL, sisters, and bridesmaids) all LOVED our makeup, and also loved that it literally lasted all night long. BEST makeup!!

I LOVED the makeup Joanna did for my wedding. She did my makeup for a friend's wedding in 2016 and she is even more talented than I remembered! I love her calm and kind personality. Joanna is a dream. Not only is she so, so very talented, but she has the warmest presence. She did my makeup for both my rehearsal dinner and my wedding day. She did two different looks on me - a more dramatic, smoky eye for my rehearsal, and then a more natural, glowy look for the wedding day. I got so many compliments on my makeup both nights, and I truly felt so beautiful.

Hire Joanna!

Joanna was the most responsive and patient out of everyone I hired during the wedding process. She was flexible with timing, location and style preference. Joanna is the best in the game! From our very first emails, Joanna was super responsive, patient, and kind. She also gave me the best skincare recommendations leading up to the big day. I was told my skin was glowing a few times because of everything she recommended I do! Who doesn't love that?! Best Make Up Artist in Chicago!

I cannot recommend Joanna enough!!! I initially got her name from my wedding planner and I'm so grateful I did. I had Joanna do my make up for my engagement pictures twice (first time got rained out!), a trial, and my wedding and every time it looked great. I wear almost no make up on a daily basis so it was important to me that I still look myself and Joanna was able to do that perfectly. Our wedding was on a HOT and humid day and my make up lasted all night long through some sweat, tears, and a brief rain shower! Most importantly, Joanna has such a sweet and calming presence that makes her so enjoyable to work with. On your wedding day you will be surrounding by many of your vendors for a large portion of the day, and I can't stress how important it is to pick vendors who you actually like as people. I could rave about Joanna for days! She’s timely, professional & wonderful at taking feedback. What more could you want in a makeup artist? I had 3 or 4 makeup artists that were referred to me by friends, but were unresponsive when I reached out so I guess you could say it was fate how we met. I was headed into a hair trial and saw Joanna doing makeup for another bride that looked fabulous and I quickly went over to get her card in desperation. We hit it off from the beginning. Joanna is one of those bright lights in the world. I emailed her and got an instantaneous response and booked my trial. After my trial, we talked about a few things we were going to tweak on the day of the wedding and it could not have been more PERFECT. I don’t wear much makeup on a daily basis so my husband was worried about me looking like a clown the day of the wedding. Joanna took every bit of feedback and turned it into perfection. I woke up the morning of my wedding with huge bags under my eyes and blemishes that hadn’t been there the day before, but you would have never known it. Saint Joanna!

There are not enough words to describe how wonderful Joanna is! From our first phone call to last minute touch ups, Joanna was filled with enthusiasm and kindness. She is a true professional that you also wanted to be your best friend. She made me and my bridal party look and feel our very best. One of my favorite moments from that morning was when she showed me my final look and I became overwhelmed with emotion and started to cry. This caused her to tear up as well and I can't thank her enough for that gift. She is incredibly talented and has a calming presence that is the perfect combination for a wedding makeup artist. I can't recommend her enough! Joanna is a true gem.

Highly Recommend Joanna!

I absolutely recommend Joanna for wedding makeup. She did my makeup trial for my engagement photos and it looked amazing. On the day of the wedding we changed up my look a bit to soften some colors and I felt absolutely confident that she would nail it and she did. My bridesmaids looked amazing and our makeup lasted all day and all night (12+ hours). Joanna is so professional and amazing at what she does, but she just feels like one of your gals on the wedding day. She's so sweet and answered all my pre-wedding skincare and makeup questions like what lipstick I should be buying for the reception. She's the best, absolutely recommend.

Joanna the Hero

When I think back to my wedding day, I really think of Joanna as being one of the integral heroes of the day. On a day that you have been planning for so long, and worrying about if everything will turn out as planned, I knew my makeup was not something I would have to worry about in Joanna's hands. I was so thankful to have the makeup trial complete with lashes to help give me that peace of mind, and she really listens to what you want. On wedding day, we scheduled our first look around 1 pm but the ceremony was not until 5:30 - I asked her (somewhat last minute) if she would mind coming to the venue before the ceremony to do touch ups. She graciously said it would be no problem and her price was so reasonable. It was amazing to have that peace of mind for me and my bridesmaids that we didn't have to worry about whether Chicago wind/potential rain would ruin our faces before the ceremony! Joanna was punctual for everything and waiting there with the glamour station before the ceremony for touch ups was, as I said, like seeing a hero there. So responsive and just like hanging out with a friend when you are with her. Exactly the calming presence you want on your big day. Can't forget the most important thing of course - my lashes and makeup stayed flawless and gorgeous all night - and we were out till 2:30 in the morning!! Although Joanna gives a complimentary touch up kit, I did not have to break into it a single time. She is amazing!!! Thank you for everything, Joanna!!!

Beautiful makeup looks, applied efficiently!

You can tell that Joanna knows what she is doing when it comes to bridal makeup. She moves along quickly, putting us ahead of schedule, but without sacrificing the look in any way. We all felt so beautiful the day of my wedding and it lasted through the hours. I have some problem areas so after my trial I gave feedback to Joanna on how I was feeling about certain decisions we had made, which she asks for! She then gave me some pointers on how to prepare my skin in advance of the wedding and I appreciated that she was open to my thoughts and found ways to adjust so that I could be most comfortable in my makeup. I couldn't have been happier that day!

Joanna is the best!

Joanna did my makeup for my bridal party and me back in September. Let me just say she is so talented, kind, and made all of us feel so beautiful that day. She literally brought me to tears when she handed me the mirror to show me the final look. I have never felt more beautiful and I have her to thank!!

I highly recommend booking her early for engagement photos (if you plan on doing those) so you can feel comfortable with her style, work flow, and process! She comes directly to you and it was so easy! I don’t usually wear a ton of makeup, but I was so impressed with her that I made sure to book her for my wedding the next day! I was in love!

For the bridal makeup trial I was having a hard time deciding what look I was trying to go for. She was SO sweet, went above and beyond, and didn’t stop working with me until I left feeling 100% comfortable with the look. It is clear that all she wants is for her brides to feel beautiful, comfortable, and stress free on their wedding day – and that is exactly how I felt.

I also must mention that it was so refreshing because Joanna is so knowledgeable about skin care and truly loves the products she uses. You must follow her on instagram! She is a natural beauty—beautiful inside and out! Thank you Joanna, you’re the best!

Love Joanna B! She is amazing at what she does - and so, so lovely and easy-going. I booked her after a referral from my hair stylist which is always a great place to start. Joanna is literally the best. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I needed to book a new makeup artist for my wedding at the last minute. I contacted Joanna based on a recommendation from my photographer, and she totally came to the rescue. She was kind, patient, professional and talented. SO easy to work with. First and foremost, Joanna is amazing! I first met her in September 2017, when my sister hired her to be her make-up artist for her wedding. I knew right then that I wanted her for my wedding as well. I love Joanna's style and technique, especially for my bridesmaids and family (bride + 9) who tend to wear more or less make-up. Joanna was so patient and helped me construct the perfect timeline to coordinate with my hair stylist, Erin Graham (who is also amazing!). Joanna is so sweet, so personable, and so talented!

Joanna is quite possibly one of the kindest, most talented humans I've ever met. Joanna had done my make up at two other weddings before my own, and when I started planning my day of beauty vendors, I was sold on having Joanna do my make up (and my maids). I live in Milwaukee, and she was incredibly flexible and accommodating to make the drive, and arrived by 7AM for 10 ladies make up. Joanna has the ability to make brides (and maids) look like themselves, all the while making them look STUNNING. She does this magical work while being a calm, peaceful and zen presence. She is such a treasure of an artist and human. Everyone deserves to feel as beautiful as she makes you feel :)

Joanna is an amazing makeup artist! I felt absolutely beautiful on my wedding day and wish she could do my makeup everyday! Joanna was very sweet, professional and a joy to be around even at 5am in the morning. Everyone’s makeup looked absolutely gorgeous! My makeup as well as my bridesmaids and my mom's makeup lasted from 5am until we took it off at night. She made everyone feel beautiful and glamorous. Totally brilliant makeup artist. She has the best calming presence a nervous bride could ask for her on her big day. Butt she also works quickly and efficiently. She covered my engagement pictures, rehearsal dinner, and wedding look. The best thing was that each of my 'looks' was totally different and unique. Working with Joanna was a true pleasure. As a former wedding planner, I had worked with her several times for clients as well as on photo shoots, and there was no one else I wanted to work with on my wedding day. She is incredibly responsive, very flexible, and such a calming presence on the wedding day. Each of my bridesmaids and my mom looked gorgeous and like the best versions of themselves. Everyone complimented how great she was to work with, and how happy they were with how their makeup turned out. Even through the rain on my wedding day, my makeup was still in tip-top shape. I would highly recommend Joanna. Your face is not something you want to skimp with on your wedding day!

Joanna was absolutely amazing. Even from my first encounter with her at my makeup trial she was very professional and nice. On my wedding day she made me look and feel beautiful, along with my bridesmaids and my mother. I know my bridesmaids and my mother were just as satisfied with her work as I was. Everyones makeup was flawless and never needed a touchup despite it being an outdoor wedding and it being 90+ degrees outside. Joanna arrived early and was even ahead of schedule. She was extremely accommodating and it's obvious she has a true passion for her work. I highly recommend Joanna, she is worth every penny!

Joanna is absolutely amazing!! She did my make up for both my bridal shower and wedding and I could not have been happier. Everyone complimented my make up and she kept me looking natural and like myself. I loved the airbrush. My make up stayed looking fresh and put together the entire wedding day/night (and that includes an 88 degree day in Chicago)!
I loved that she came to my house for both my trial and the wedding day. Joanna is a joy to be around and made me feel relaxed. Her presence contributed to the wedding day fun and happiness! My bridesmaids all looked stunning. She also did a fabulous job on my mother and mother in law. Everyone looked beautiful. One of my bridesmaids has already booked Joanna for her own wedding next year. I highly recommend Joanna for any event, especially your wedding day, for beautiful make up services!

Joanna is an absolute dream to work with! She did my makeup for 3 different events over my wedding weekend, and killed every look!! Joanna was the PERFECT choice for our makeup artist. She was kind enough to come to my apartment for my bridal trial and I knew after that day that I was in such capable hands. Joanna is absolutely amazing!!! Going into my makeup trial I really had no idea what I wanted my wedding makeup look to be (I'm honestly a mascara and chapstick kind of girl) and I was scared to death of looking/feeling like a clown but the moment Joanna walked in she put me at ease and had all sorts of great ideas for a subtle but more "enhanced version" of me. I ended up wearing my wedding trial makeup all evening and went out on a date night with my then fiancé and I honestly felt like I was barely wearing any makeup at all!!!
My wedding day was exactly the same as my trial look and everything was absolutely perfect! I can't recommend Joanna enough and I still hope to use her makeup services every now and again when I feel like getting dolled up!!! :-)

I hired Joanna based on a recommendation from my photographer for a branding shoot to promote my new business. She helped to bring out my best features and instinctively knew how to highlight who I am while keeping my makeup and hair style feeling natural. Joanna is simply the best! Her talent and experience speak for themselves on her website and instagram. She has a wonderful eye or color, my bridal party had an array of different skin tones and she masterfully created custom colors for each skin tone and facial features. Above all Joanna respectfully listened to all of the requests to make sure that everyone felt beautiful. She worked very quickly on my wedding day and we were well ahead of schedule. She has such a calming and assuring attitude that made my day much more stress free. I can't say enough positive things about Joanna, her talent as a makeup artist, and her professionalism.

Joanna was simply a pleasure to have as makeup artist for our wedding day. She perfectly captured the simple elegance I was looking for - and took the plunge with me to do a pop of color on the lip which worked out beautifully! Going into the wedding prep, I didn’t have the time to do a trial-run but after seeing her photos and talking with her, I knew I wouldn’t need one. It was very clear I could trust she’d do a great job, and she certainly did!

What I most enjoyed about Joanna was her incredible energy leading up to and on the wedding day. She’s thoughtful, kind and patient - all of which made the whole process of getting ready, while you’re a bundle of nerves, much easier and a lot of more fun! We had some last minute changes/craziness in our day-of schedule, and she was accommodating and understanding, which is exactly what you need on that day.

Finally, she’s highly professional, responsive and organized. When planning a wedding, you get flustered so easily, and having someone who will manage their own work for you is invaluable. For example, she gently laid out all of the things she would need to know for the day (parking, how to get into the house where I was getting ready, schedule/timing, etc). It may sound silly but having that little bit of help was awesome when juggling so many things at one time.

I cannot recommend her highly enough and am happy to be a reference via email or phone. Please just ask her!

I hired Joanna and an additional makeup artist for my November wedding. Book well in advance (as I did in January) to secure Joanna's services! I found Joanna as I was searching for makeup artists for my wedding. From the beginning I felt very comfortable with her. Prior to booking her, she scheduled a call with me to get a better idea of what I had in mind for that day, my bridal party, and to answer any questions or concerns I had. I really appreciated that she made this a more personal experience. Of course during this process I had reached out to a few people for recommendations. My photographer, along with a few others, had highly recommended her. We did my trial for the rehearsal and I was in awe of her work. During the planning process, Joanna was very professional, patient and an absolute pleasure to work with. The day of, my entire bridal party looked gorgeous and loved their makeup (including my mother who went back and forth a few times on getting it done. Once she saw everyone else's she was excited!). I even had a few people ask for her contact information that day. I hope to have a chance/reason to work with Joanna again!

In deciding vendors, I knew I wanted to secure a great make-up artist right away. I saw all the pictures on Joanna's website and knew I wanted to reach out and get more information. In communicating with Joanna prior to booking her services, she went out of her way to get to know me, my style, what I envisioned for my wedding day and how I typically wear my makeup.
In securing Joanna, my trial was great! She was on time, and spent the time with me to make sure the "look" was the best. She did reach out the next day to find out how everything held up, what changes I wanted, etc.

I could not have made a better choice for wedding makeup than choosing Joanna! She is very professional and warm hearted, and was just a sweet person to have join my bridesmaids and I while getting ready. She is extremely talented and made each of my bridesmaids and mom look stunning! We were all glowing and gushing over each other's makeup throughout the day! I completely changed my vision and decided I wanted a pinker lip and light blush eyeshadow instead with bold lashes, and Joanna did exactly that for my wedding day and I couldn't have been happier with the result! She was so flexible and has the talent to create just about any look! The airbrush makeup lasted all day - through heat, crying, etc! I would definitely recommend Joanna to work with you to create the perfect look that is uniquely you for your wedding day!

Joanna was WONDERFUL! The entire time we worked together it felt like I was working with a friend -- which is exactly who you want around you on your big day. Joanna was really helpful from the get go. I was most worried about hair and make up -- it was the last vendor I chose for the wedding. I stumbled upon Joanna and was so lucky to do so. She put all my fears aside and really worked with what I envisioned -- a natural make up style so that I still looked like myself. She was even gracious enough to do two trials with me. She was flexible with trial times and really responsive, which meant a lot leading up to the big day. The day of brought a great assistant for my party of 10 and everyone was really happy with their make up!

I'm so glad I used Joanna for my wedding makeup. She did an incredible job, and it ended up looking exactly how I wanted. I was able to look like me (which was important), but just a more glammed up version. I loved how she had me pick from a selection of pictures before we did the trial to nail down the look I wanted. Not only is she incredibly talented, but she's super fun to work with and brought a great energy to our getting ready vibes. Joanna also gives you a little makeup bag for the day with extra face wipes, lip gloss, and other items so that you can refresh the look throughout the evening. It was awesome, and such a nice thing to have. I have been recommending Joanna to everyone I know that is getting married - she's awesome!

If you are looking for a makeup artist in the Chicagoland and surrounding area - look no further! Joanna is your girl! She recently did makeup for my wedding along with my Mom and several friends. She did exactly what I was wanting. She also agreed to travel from Chicago to the venue in NE WI for a small fee. My skin looked flawless and my eyes popped. Not to mention she was a joy to be around - so sweet and easy to talk to. Everyone loved their makeup and felt beautiful. I would definitely use Joanna again!

Joanna did makeup for myself, both moms, and my two maids of honor just 2 weeks ago for my wedding. She did such an amazing job making us all look beautiful and glamorous, but not too overly made up, and everything lasted well into the night, even after 12+ hours of wear and a whole lot of sobbing.

I had a trial with Joanna back in January the same day as we were taking engagement pictures. She took a look at my inspiration pictures and quickly replicated a look that worked even better for me. After the pictures I sent her two rounds of notes, immediately following the day we took pictures and after we actually got our pictures back, and Joanna was wonderful about noting the adjustments I requested.

On my wedding day, she showed up right on time and executed perfection on all 5 of us. She worked so quickly that we actually ended up being a bit ahead of schedule. Everyone told me later how sweet and comfortable Joanna made them feel while they were getting their makeup done, and how much they all loved what she did for them.

If you’re looking for a makeup artist in the Chicago area for your wedding, I really cannot recommend Joanna enough.

Joanna is AMAZING! She did my makeup for my wedding as well as all of my bridesmaids. Everyone loved her and how they looked. She is professional but personable and helps calm any nerves you have. Couldn't recommend her enough and can't wait to use her again when I have an event!

Joanna was one of the best choices I made on my wedding day! She was super responsive throughout the entire planning process, was totally flexible the day of with switching up our schedule as needed, and did a fantastic job doing 10 people's make up. It was really important to me that myself and the bridal party didn't feel stressed out or time crunched the day of and Joanna made sure that we all felt super comfortable. She took my feedback based on the trial and my make up ended up being perfect the day of. Couldn't have asked for a better person to take care of me on the big day!

Joanna was recommended by my hair stylist. Oh boy was this a wonderful recommendation! Not only did Joanna make this experience a wonderful one by making me look beautiful, but she made it seem so natural for me. She was so easy to talk to and made me feel so at ease even with the weather (it was snow storming on my wedding day) and wedding things in my mind. She was so informative and professional. I had some major skin problems caused by stress and my natural bad skin problem look like they weren't there as much as possible. She was so flexible and great at spontaneity of my groups' decisions. If I were to have another event I would definitely ask her again and I would recommend her. Thank you so so so much Joanna! It was a pleasure having you do my makeup and my people's.
