You Know When You Know!

JoAnn is an absolute gem, not solely for her skills in her profession as a makeup artist, but also as a spirit in itself. She was very accommodating and flexible leading up to the wedding date, and I am still in awe of the look that came together and the journey it was to get there. It felt fated.

I reached out to JoAnn initially in search of a hair stylist for my wedding day, for I thought that I had already settled on a makeup artist. My best friend thankfully was able to join for the hair trial with JoAnn (post makeup trial elsewhere; trials scheduled same day). While sitting under the dryer, my best friend and I chatted, ultimately recognizing that we thought I could do slightly more “wow” makeup for a wedding day. We agreed that the makeup done elsewhere was good, but a bit too everyday of a look.

It became a no brainer to tie in a makeup trial with JoAnn. When she returned to check on me under the dryer, I expressed my thoughts on the makeup. She was able to candidly opine and give a sample taste of a pivoted vision right then and there about enhancing a look for more pop yet still remaining natural. I knew I was in good hands and based upon our general conversation during the hair trial, I trusted what would be the outcome.

We set up a separate full on makeup trial with a fresh face to get the full vision and all I will say is that, it is one thing to know in the room together (you with the stylist), and another when the votes randomly come in off the street. I had further conviction that JoAnn was the one for the wedding day!

Her patience with me, and her consultancy were greatly appreciated during the process, and I look forward to having another chance to work with JoAnn again for other occasions!

Absolutely incredible

JoAnn and her team was absolutely incredible. I had a huge group of girls and we were on a time crunch and her team locked in and made sure we all looked spectacular. I even had someone on the day of ask if they could get their hair done by her team. Whenever JoAnn could sense I was starting to get stressed, she calmed me down. Very Glad I Went With JoAnn Solomon

I'm glad I went with JoAnn Solomon, they were always responsive and communicative.
JoAnn did my hair and makeup herself and was flexible with a later starting time.
As a black woman I was worried about how my hair would come out, but JoAnn assured me that she had a similar hair texture and recommended multiple options.
I wasn't able to do a trial beforehand, so I was nervous about the finished result, but JoAnn did an amazing job. I went in with an idea of how I wanted my hair to look and when I wasn't happy with the initial result JoAnn was able to change it into a beautiful style that suited me perfectly! I loved both my hair and makeup and got so many compliments.

So Fantastic!

If you're looking for someone who will make you look and feel fantastic it's got to be JoAnn and her team. As a biracial woman picking the right hair/makeup artist was something I put a lot of consideration into and I'm so glad I went with JoAnn and her team.

I booked both a hair and makeup trial with JoAnn initially which I'm very glad I did. Not only was it a great opportunity to get to know JoAnn I also appreciated her professionalism and guidance as I hadn't realized how indecisive I was about my wedding look until I sat down in the chair and we talked through it. JoAnn made me feel comfortable and confident the entire time and I truly think that shows through her work.

My makeup and hair lasted through August Summer heat, two fully choreographed dances and a lot of happy tears. There's no one else I'd recommend if its not JoAnn!

Could not be happier!

I am so happy that I went with JoAnn and her team for both my engagement shoot and wedding hair and makeup. From start to finish I really did feel as though I was just as important to JoAnn as all of her other clients. JoAnn was completely flexible with my requests for when I was going to be able to do a trial for my engagement photo shoot and I could not have been happier with how those photos turned out. The entire experience was completely relaxing and reassuring and I knew I had made the right choice for booking her for my wedding on 11/16/24. On the day of my wedding, JoAnn and Ashley were perfectly perfect for working with me and my mom. They both truly knew how to keep us both relaxed and calm, knowing when to bring the energy and when to let us be with our own thoughts. I truly believe that they were both a HUGE factor with setting me up for calm energy for the rest of the day. I could write a novel with how wonderful the entire experience was from start to finish. The first phone call to the last hug before sending me on my way on my big day.

Absolute Excellence!!!

Where do I begin!!!! If I could give more stars I absolutely would. JoAnn Solomon and her team exceeded my expectations and I am very particular.

Not only did I look beautiful but I felt beautiful. I don't typically wear makeup so I was clueless as to the look I wanted. I entrusted JoAnn to work her magic and she transformed me. Her hairstylist was amazing!!! Everything was top tier! My friends and family gave me so many compliments.

Enough about me... My daughter, the bride, was absolutely gorgeous. She was clear about how she wanted to look and JoAnn did not disappoint! The entire bridal party was gorgeous thanks to JoAnn and her glam squad. Everyone said how beautiful we all looked. No one left the bridal suite until they were blessed by the talents of the glam team.

They were punctual, knowledgeable and oh so personable. What impressed me the most is that they listened. It's obvious that they take pride in their work and it shows. I highly recommend them for all of your glam needs. I chose the Mother of the Bride Platinum Hair and Makeup Package and it was worth every penny. They are the best at what they do. I cannot recommend JoAnn enough for any bride seeking a truly exceptional hair and makeup experience. As a Black woman, it was incredibly important for me to find a stylist who understood and embraced my natural hair texture. JoAnn's portfolio immediately stood out to me, showcasing her expertise in styling diverse hair types.

From the initial consultation to the wedding day itself, JoAnn was an absolute joy to work with. She was incredibly professional, attentive, and made me feel completely at ease. She took the time to understand my vision and preferences, offering valuable tips and product recommendations along the way.

Hire Joann for your wedding day

Joanne and her team were so lovely to have on the morning of our wedding. She is fun and vibrant and really catered to my bridesmaids specific looks and needs. Her and her team work so well with various different skin tones and hair types which left all of my bridesmaids and myself feeling beautiful! Truly the best

Oh my goodness - you absolutely need to book JoAnn for your wedding glam! As a mixed race woman with curly hair, I was feeling very nervous about potentially hiring someone who wouldn’t know how to do my hair (or makeup for that matter). I knew she was going to be great, but seeing her work after our trial session, my expectations were exceeded. She listened to my requests, but wasn’t afraid to express when something seemed a little too “trendy”, which I appreciated since I wanted a more timeless look. I was so happy with my makeup glam on the day of my wedding, and it lasted all day (on an unreasonably rainy and humid day in May) and night! I look amazing in my photos. JoAnn even graciously helped my friend with her eyeliner at the last minute before we left for the venue, even though I only booked her for my mother and I. I was so happy with her work and I felt so beautiful. Not to mention she has the best energy and smile. Thanks JoAnn!

Comfort, confidence, and beauty!

JoAnn and her team made my wedding so special! Leading up to the wedding, her team was highly communicative. They helped me put together a realistic schedule for the wedding day so that my wedding party and I could get our hair and makeup done at a comfortable pace, before the photographer arrived. On the day of, they were professional, timely, and felt like a part of the wedding party! They fit right in with our group's energy and helped keep the mood relaxed, fun, and light. We are a group with all different skin tones and hair types, and we all looked absolutely beautiful. JoAnn's team took care to listen to our feedback, making sure we all felt comfortable and confident! JoAnn really went above and beyond for me, taking my simple reference photo and turning it into a masterpiece! I could not recommend JoAnn Solomon Beauty more!

The Absolute Best

JoAnn and her entire team (Lori, Colette and Ashley) were truly amazing! I hired JoAnn Solomon Beauty for hair and makeup for myself, my bridal party, my mother, my mother in law and my sister in law. Their work was absolutely flawless and the energy they all brought made the morning of my wedding feel so special and fun. I also think it’s really important to note that I (biracial woman) had a very diverse bridal party and family, with all different complexions, hair lengths and hair textures. JoAnn and her team made each and every woman look absolutely stunning! I could not get over how amazing they each looked and how their natural beauty was accentuated through their hair and makeup by the artistry of JoAnn and her team. My wedding day was also unseasonably warm in NYC and despite me sweating for much of the day in my wedding dress, my hair and makeup held up really well and looks fantastic in pictures. Joann did my makeup for 3 of my wedding events, and did a beautiful job for each of the events. Each look was unique, but still made me feel like myself. Her assistant, Del, is super responsive and organized. I highly recommend Joann and her company!

JoAnn Set The Tone For My Perfect Wedding Day!!

JoAnn and her team were beyond perfect on my wedding day. They were professional, super fun, and did an outstanding and, most importantly, personal job on everyone's hair and makeup. I have very fair skin with freckles, and JoAnn made me look and feel naturally glamorous in my own skin. JoAnn actually took the time to talk to me about my exact vision months in advance! JoAnn and her team provided hair and makeup services for my wedding party. I highly recommend this talented team. The makeup artist produced beautiful results for the bridal party and the hairstylist achieved each bridesmaid's desired style with ease. Both the makeup artist and hairstylist took their time with each individual. JoAnn did my bridal hair and airbrush makeup; I am extremely satisfied with the result - there is nothing I would change! Amazing Experience!

I cannot rave enough about how amazing Joanne and her team did when they did hair/make-up for my wedding day in early December. To start, Joanne was so lovely and answered all of my (very long!) lost of questions during our consultation in a way that made me so comfortable with her without having met her previously. Then, in the months leading up to my big day, her assistant was so gracious and quick to respond whenever I had follow-up questions or added (more than a couple!) of services. The day of, Joanne and her assistants were incredible! I had make-up services for myself, three bridal party members, and four family members of diverse skin tones and hair types and Joanne and her team made sure everyone looked absolutely amazing. They kept the atmosphere fun while being so professional and easygoing! For example, they were able to actually trim my 3 year old niece's hair without a fuss when she had previously gotten a bad haircut. Additionally, they were able to actually entirely re-do my MOH's makeup when she changed her mind about the style of it. Most importantly, Joanne helped me to feel so comfortable and beautiful - as someone who rarely does make-up myself, she made sure that I really felt like a star inside and out. Plus, after 8+ hours of running around in the cold, dancing, and mingling, my make-up and hair looked as fresh as when Joanne had just finished it. The whole experience was wonderful and if you're looking for the best for one of your special occasions, you should RUN, not walk, to book Joanne! Thank y'all so much for making my big day even more amazing!

Loved JoAnn!

I absolutely loved working with JoAnn! She helped me figure out what look was best for the big day. I wanted to look fun and glam but still feel like myself. The outcome was perfect! And not only that, she was SO MUCH FUN to hang out with the morning of. My girlfriends and I loved having her there and are still laughing at some of the convos we all had together! Talented hmu!

Joann is a true talent! We worked together earlier this year (I was the wedding coordinator). From my perspective, she was easy to communicate with, on top of her portion of the day, and the glam she did for our bride was absolutely gorgeous! She provided our bride with a soft glam old hollywood style and it was stunning! I was blown away at how effortless she made it look that I've started to refer clients to her! Book her- now!!

A team that will cater to your style and needs!

JoAnn and her team helped make my wedding so special! It was really important that I selected someone who had experience working with people of different skin tones and hair types, but JoAnn and her team really took it to another level. Not only were they accommodating to everyone's needs, but every hair and makeup look was catered to each bridesmaid's unique style. It felt like "us." My entire bridal party and I LOVED JoAnn and her team - the conversation, the jokes, the music, the energy. It all helped calm the nerves before the big day. Professional beauty expert!

JoAnn is an amazing makeup and hair artist. JoAnn and her team are professional. I was hesitant about the makeup trial but definitely book one because it helps shape the look you want for your big day! She truly worked with me to shape my hair and makeup look for my wedding day.

JoAnn is my go-to make-up artist of choice. I was lucky enough to have come across her website when I was looking for a team to tackle my wedding day and she and her team delivered. Since then (5 years ago), she's been the person I call on when I want to look my best. I've used her hair and make-up services several times and she never disappoints. Amazing to work with!

JoAnn and her associates were amazing on our wedding day! We had an excellent experience with them from the hair/makeup trial to the wedding day itself. As soon as I had my trial, I booked JoAnn for our wedding day. We had 10 people getting their hair/makeup done. Everything was done in a timely fashion and everyone loved the way their hair and makeup turned out. They were professional and also a lot of fun to work with. I would definitely recommend them!

Talent Unmatched!

When it came time for my partner and I to book our makeup and hairstylist for our wedding, it was important to us to choose someone who was versatile and comfortable enough to work with women of different ethnicities and hair types. We also wanted someone who would enhance our natural beauty without completely changing the way we look. JoAnn did just that. She took our vision and created a look for us that was flawless! It was a great feeling to sit back on our wedding day and have complete confidence in our decision to choose JoAnn. Her assistant also slayed our mothers and entourage and they all loved their makeup. JoAnn was also very accommodating as we originally booked our wedding before the pandemic and needed to reschedule. She was very understanding, professional, and made the process simple.

True artist

I recently had my trial with JoAnn and I'm even more excited for my wedding day hair and make up now! JoAnn really invests the time to make you feel comfortable and confident that you'll be happy with your look. I'm often discouraged by my fine hair and lack of volume, and JoAnn whipped together a beautiful updo that made me feel like I had a luxuriously thick head of hair (wish she could do that every day!). Lovely, "Me, but Elevated" Natural Style!

JoAnn stepped in at the last minute when the hair/makeup artist I originally booked had a family emergency. I felt safe in JoAnn's care despite the late switch! She was very open to all of the feedback I provided from my trial and she did a lovely job creating a natural, "me, but elevated" look for my photos/Zoom wedding. Great Experience

Joann was a joy to work with. Sweet and kind as well as so talented! She did makeup & hair for myself (the bride) my 3 bridesmaids and my mother. My mom (who rarely wears makeup) was in awe of her transformation and how natural everything looked! In the age of covid with so many things up in the air Joann did everything she could to make sure I was taken care of on my special day, despite my date having to change. I would recommend her services to anyone!

Amazing, Extraordinary

If you’re thinking about booking JoAnn for your wedding - DO IT!! I can’t say enough good things about her. I have been dealing with pimples and pin straight hair and she literally transformed me for my wedding day. All my pimples were invisible and my usual “un-curlable” hair was perfect ALL NIGHT. Not only is she an amazing hair/make up artist, but she’s someone that makes you feel comfortable. I met with Joann for my engagement pictures, trial and wedding - and each time I felt like I was meeting with an old friend. My bridal party was also SO pleased and really enjoyed her company. Joann is also so accommodating, as when our venue location changed, she didn’t hesitate to drive to the new location, which was literally in the middle of nowhere. This woman is phenomenal ! ! !

The Kindest

We booked JoAnn before the pandemic began. I had spent months searching for a makeup artist, and finally decided to stretch my budget to work with JoAnn because her portfolio was the only one I came across where I loved every look. (I was looking for someone to help me look glamorous but still very natural and like myself.) Since I am in a high-risk category as are many family members, we made the difficult decision to cancel our wedding and have a microwedding of less than 20 people instead. JoAnn was very gracious and flexible and agreed to provide virtual hair and makeup tutorials since I did not feel comfortable anymore having my hair and makeup done in-person. JoAnn was so supportive, kind, and built up my confidence during the tutorials. She is such a talented, giving, and good human, whose services I cannot recommend enough! Thank you, JoAnn.

Amazing person and work

JoAnn was the very best. After planning our elopement in two weeks I needed someone to do my hair and makeup. I found JoAnn through The wedding wire and immediately contacted her. She was very nice and professional. We did a trial run and got to know each other through the process. JoAnn has a great energy and ease about her. I felt beyond comfortable with her and trusted her to make me look my very best for a very important day. The day of the wedding was even better. She was punctual and excited for the day. Her photos don’t do her justice of her work bc it’s 1,000 times better in person. I would highly recommend her and higher her again in a heartbeat. The woman knows here stuff and I’m forever grateful for her help on one of the biggest days of my life.

JoAnn Solomon is truly amazing! I love her, not just how she makes me & my other bridal party beautiful on our wedding day but what we love more is her positive personality... I was just looking for hair and make up for our engagement photoshoot but I still choose her among other few artists I tried in NY for our wedding.. She is the BEST!!! JoAnn and her team were wonderful. They were punctual, efficient, and professional. JoAnn has a calming, reassuring demeanor, and I instantly felt that I was in good hands with her. I chose JoAnn because it was important to me to have a stylist who works with a diversity of clients and knows how to do hair and makeup for women of color. My bridesmaids and I have wide range of hair textures and skin tones, and JoAnn did an incredible job styling everyone's hair and making sure everyone's makeup was suitable for them. Overall, I was very happy with how my hair and makeup turned out and just as importantly, my mom and all of my bridesmaids were thrilled with their looks. Elopement in Central Park with '20s dress and hairstyle

I hired JoAnn to do my hair without a trial, because I come from Italy and I arrived to Nyc two days before my elopement.
She came to my hotel room, I just showed her a photo of what I meant to be and she did a better job than I could even image in only thirty minutes! She is awesome. I would recommend her to my very best friend! I wish she was in Italy, she'd definitely be my hair stylist!

JoAnn is the best!!

I hired JoAnn for my wedding this past June and she was wonderful!! I booked her back in November after I got engaged based on all of the great reviews that I read. We had a very nice and informative phone conversation where she was able to answer all of my many many questions. I got such a great vibe from her while speaking that I knew I had to book right away. Best decision that I made.

I finally met JoAnn a week before my wedding for the hair and make up trial and she did not disappoint! She was so friendly, funny, and fabulous! She had my mother in tears with all of her jokes.

On the day of my wedding, she and her team kept me calm and thoroughly entertained. She executed my vision perfectly! I was so happy with how both my hair and make up came out! I'm not one to wear make up, so the natural wedding look that she gave me was phenomenal!

JoAnn and her team were able to make all 11(!) of my bridesmaids and my mother extremely happy with their varying requests and wishes. She allotted enough time so that no one was rushed and it was such a relaxed and fun morning. I would recommend JoAnn to anyone, hands down!!

Absolutely fabulous!

Joann and her team were absolutely fabulous! We highly recommend them for any NYC bride looking for a talented and organized hair and makeup team. We had a tall order the day of our wedding (2 brides, 7 bridesmaids, and 2 moms) and Joanne and her 2 assistants knocked it out of the park. Everyone got the hair and makeup that they wanted, felt listened to, and nothing was rushed - not to mention they all had great personalities which added to the fun "bridal suite vibe." Special shout-out to Tannis who stayed on with us for touch-ups until after the ceremony - she had such great energy and took excellent care of our minor touch-up needs throughout the evening. We highly recommend Joann and her team!

Amazing could not have chosen better!

I started my list of makeup/hair with 20 vendors and quickly narrowed it down to a handful. During the nastiest day ever i got my wedding trial and fell in love. Makeup look great during the blizzard so I knew then it was worth every penny. Even so I got another trial elsewhere and decided to go with Joann. Joann listened to my needs particularly my desire to look natural. On the day of my wedding she was more than amazing. She was prompt, professional but not stuck up and she was able to deal with me, who was an enormous bag of nerves. Even more amazing was when she came to my mothers rescue since she had been stood up by her hairsylist. I appreciated that my hair remained soft even though i had an updo and that my makeup stayed on all night through the sweat. Both the person and the work is amazing!

Amazing Service & Caring Person

I can’t speak enough praise of Joann and her team! First off, to find a person so multi-talented, kind and sincere is hard. Joann is all of that and more!
I was all over the place during the booking process. Not once did Joann or her assistant make me feel bad about it. They were patient and understanding. Being of mixed race with natural hair, I struggled with what I wanted (as the bride). Joann took the time to explain my options considering my concerns about damaging my hair with too much heat. When it came to ensuring my bridesmaids (of all colors and ethnicities) were properly done up, she knew her stuff and made sure I was comfortable with the plan.
As my big day approached, Joann made sure that I was happy and stress free. Joann and her team were fast, efficient but also on point. They delivered! The hair styles and makeup survived a crazy night of partying. Our pictures are proof that they really know what they are doing!
Joann made my bridesmaids and me feel special. She really cares not just about her work but how you FEEL. She wants you to feel beautiful and reminds you of that throughout the entire process. And, we all ended up not just looking amazing but feeling gorgeous.

JoAnn made my day PERFECT

Where do I even begin... JoAnn is a true artist.

Not only is she a kind, and beautiful human being, but she is a master of her craft.

I NEVER get my makeup or hair done for events because I’m afraid of the makeup feeling and looking caked on (which I hate) and no one ever does my hair right. So I wasn’t sure if I was going to hire someone to do my hair and makeup for my wedding.

But I did A LOT of research and kept coming back to JoAnn’s website. The photos of the brides and other women she had done just drew me in.

One thing stood out the most— all the makeup looks NATURAL! And that’s what I wanted.

After contacting her and having such an easy and flawless reservation process, I knew I was in good hands for my big day.

Her assistant, Crystal, was nice, professional, and responsive. And when I met JoAnn for my trial (don’t skimp by not doing a trial— it’s so important!), I was SO HAPPY.

JoAnn was patient and attentive. She really wanted me and my mom to look and feel the way WE wanted. She encouraged constructive critique of my hair and makeup so we could make sure it all looked perfect— it was collaborative and I LOVED that.

Highly Recommend!

JoAnn did a fantastic job for me and my bridal party last month. When looking for an artist, I wanted to find someone who had experience with all different hair types and different skin complexions (my friends and family come in all shades). I'd had a bad experience of getting makeup services from a wedding makeup artist hired for the bridal party, who used the same palette on each person even though it didn't match our skin tones. I wanted to make sure we were all comfortable in our look all day. And boy, did she deliver! Hair and makeup was on point. She started and ended on time, and was a joy to get ready with that morning. Everyone looked beautiful. We all highly recommend her!

I am so happy that I found JoAnn and her team for my wedding in November. She made me feel so comfortable, from the trial to wedding day and is such a joy to be around.

I completely trusted her to find the right balance of natural and a bit glam for my wedding day and she pulled it off amazingly. She also worked with both of our moms plus styled my husband's sister and we all had a blast being pampered, chatting and spending time together. We were scheduled with more than enough time to get ready and the vibe was really relaxed, fun and warm - JoAnn was a big part in making this happen. We were having a 2nd reception here on the East Coast, more specifically, a Jersey reception for my son and his wife who had gotten married in Seattle where her family is from. During the course of shopping around for vendors - DJ, photographer, photobooth, planner and decorator I decided to find someone to do my hair and makeup for the event. I dont know how I was lucky enough to come across JoAnn's website but i knew immediately she was the one. Its's the BEST decision ever!! Not only was my makeup very natural looking with a few added lashes and special touches but my hair was nothing short of spectacular! She also gave me some lipstick and hairspray to maintain my look....which I never really needed to use. I dont think there was a person at the reception who didn't comment on how beautiful my hair was and how they'd never seen anything like it before. It was so stunning I hated to take it down. Next time I need hair and/or makeup there's no question where I'll be going. If you choose JoAnn, I promise you will be thrilled with the results!!!

JoAnn and her team were fantastic. My wedding party was a very diverse group of girls , but they were able to make everyone look their best. My make up and hair was flawless and very natural looking. I felt like an Indian queen. And the look stayed through the evening despite being in the sun, dancing, and crying.

I really enjoyed my time with JoAnn both on the wedding day and during my makeup trial at her studio. She is funny and personable. It really helped keeping my nerves in check the morning of the wedding. She is also extremely meticulous down to every strand of hair so I was super confident through our special day.

JoAnn was AMAZING. I was so stressed about finding a hair and makeup artist who could do a great job with me (a Black bride with very thick, natural hair), while also working with my diverse bridal party (one Black girl with a weave, one Black girl with a perm, a Korean girl, an Italian girl, and an Indian girl with thick curly hair). On top of that, we are all very picky about wanting a "natural" makeup look. I thought it would NEVER happen, but then I found JoAnn. She immediately got me and the look I was going for, and she didn't shame me for wanting a soft, natural look. Everyone in the bridal party, including the moms, looked amazing! For a group who hardly ever wears makeup, she made all of us feel comfortable and confident.

I was the most anxious about booking a makeup/hair person since 95% of the time I wear no makeup and my hair is a bun. JoAnn made me feel comfortable and made me and my bridal party look amazing. JoAnn listened to what I wanted but also tbh I did not know what I wanted, so was able to guide me into my best bridal look. My girls are all also now JoAnn believers- don't think twice about booking her!

I booked JoAnn to do makeup and hair for me and my mom on my wedding day. I was extremely happy with Joann's work and her work ethics. Both on the day of trial and the wedding she arrived few minutes before time and got to work right away. Since I am someone with minimal knowledge or experience with makeup I was quite apprehensive about who I hire for my big day. Joann was really good with understanding my vision and translating it into the look I wanted. She knew exactly how to work with my mom's thin hair and completely transformed her look. She also accommodated my mother in law at the last minute since we had enough time left before the ceremony. She is very nice to talk to and loves what she does. I contacted JoAnn to do my hair & makeup for my wedding, after I was unhappy with my initial trial with another vendor. I was nervous and feeling anxious that I wouldn't feel great on my big day. Enter JoAnn, who really listened to what I wanted (natural, soft, classic makeup with a low, flattering and sophisticated updo) and my concerns, and executed beautifully. You can tell that JoAnn is highly attentive and detail oriented, and she makes sure that she genuinely considers your personality and preferences, and doesn't just give her clients all the same "generic bride", overdone look. Thanks to JoAnn, I felt fabulous on my wedding day, and am still receiving compliments. Even my photographer (who sees professional makeup every day) said JoAnn's work was really impressive. Let me start by saying - JoAnn is an absolute dream. Being an Aussie booking a wedding in NYC, I had no idea where to start finding a hair stylist and make-up artist. I had booked someone else on recommendation but loved JoAnn so much (based on her website) that I begged her to take me on last minute, and miraculously, she did (I've no idea how I was so lucky, as her celebrity clientele and editorial bookings must keep her busy!). As soon as I spoke with her, she understood EXACTLY the look I was going for, which was less of an overdone "bridey" look, and more of a natural, editorial feel. She immediately emailed me pics of her clients (celebrity and brides) that she had done in a similar style, which straight away confirmed to me that she got it - she totally got it. On the day, she was truly the best. She is an absolute pro- using the best possible products, working with all hair types, and happy to accomodate anything. She even kindly "did" the flower girls make-up (i.e., powder and lip gloss to avoid a flower girl meltdown about being left out) - free of charge, as she could see how much it was going to mean to the little girl. On top of how wonderful she was at her job, she is also a legend to have around you on your wedding day. She keeps things light, breezy, funny, energetic, and most importantly - real! Honestly, if I lived in NY, I would do everything I could to make it on to her book of regulars. Do yourself a favour and book this wonderful woman!! I'm not much of a reviewer, but I wanted to do this because she was just-that-good.

I booked JoAnn for my bridal shower and wedding for both hair & make up. She did a wonderful job for both events. She is really good at knowing what to do just based off your personality and look. I don't wear a lot of makeup so I wasn't sure what I wanted but I was always more than pleased with the results she gave. I had such a great experience with JoAnn. I was left without a makeup and hair artist with only a few weeks till my wedding, and JoAnn helped ease my nerves immediately! She was super responsive, understanding, and was able to fit me in for a trial quickly too (since time was of the essence in my case). As an artist, JoAnn uses high end products and doesn't skimp on quality. You can tell how scrupulously clean she is and takes great pride in her work. As a person, she was lovely to talk to, she can seriously chat about anything to anyone. I was super pleased with both my trial and wedding, and all my guests kept commenting on how beautiful I looked. My skin was flawless and although you could see I had makeup on, it still looked like me (but better) which made me feel more comfortable (my style is minimalist). My hair and makeup stayed ALL day - not an easy task to keep curls in place with heavy, Asian hair. Definitely recommend!

JoAnn is seriously a bride whisperer. Or family of the bride whisperer I should say. Amidst the chaos that is the wedding day, she not only delivered amazing hairstyles for myself and my mom/sisters/flower girls (not an easy task) but she blends in so seamlessly you'd hardly know she was there! JoAnn is INCREDIBLE. We had already hired her for our engagement photos and for a wedding trial, so I had a good idea of what to expect (to feel like my most glamorous self and feel confident). Even so, I was blown away by the way she styled my hair and did my makeup for the wedding. She made me feel like a star on our wedding day, and took her time to make each bridesmaid and my mother look and feel glamorous too. It was very important to me to have someone who could work on a variety of different skin tones and hair types and make everyone’s individual beauty shine without everyone having the same look. She delivered! My mom has never had her hair and makeup professionally done for an event and couldn’t stop staring! She was amazed that she could look like herself in a way she hadn’t looked or felt since her twenties!

JoAnn brought a calm energy and worked quickly without rushing. She was on time (early even), despite having to travel a decent distance to get to our location, and never once got flustered with special requests for changes or anything.

My entire look came together just like i had imagined, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend JoAnn to others or to hire her for future special occasions.

I had only 6 months to plan my wedding and somehow JoAnn was still available for our super popular October wedding date. We had a trial back in May 2017 and I knew from the moment she walked into my apartment, I was going to book her. She wasn't the typical wedding makeup/hair stylist who wanted to charge a ton for not-so-wonderful results. JoAnn was knowledgeable, impressive, and used only top of the line products. I am the pickiest person when it comes to my makeup, and she was more than patient with me when I wanted things changed during the trial. In the end I was so beyond happy with how I looked, I ended my search and booked JoAnn immediately.

Leading up to the wedding day, JoAnn was there for me whenever I needed to bother her with questions or concerns. On the big day, she was right on time, and we had an absolute blast getting ready. It was just my sister and my best friend (not a huge wedding party), and they absolutely loved how she transformed them for the wedding day. I myself felt flawless and got a million compliments. My hair and makeup literally did not budge for the whole 16 hour day, through all the pictures and dancing.

Besides her amazing talent, words cannot describe how kind, sweet, and generous JoAnn is. She truly cares about all her clients and her passion for her work shines through. THANK YOU JoAnn!! You were the greatest addition to my wedding day and I am so happy we got to work together!!

JoAnn, I cannot thank you enough!

In my journey to find the perfect hair stylist for my wedding I was determined to find someone that was comfortable working with any texture of hair and in comes JoAnn! All of the women in my wedding party including mothers of both bride and groom are women of color with a huge variety of textures and lengths (straight and thin to kinky curly & full)! JoAnn had no fears or hesitations about any of it. She even got my mothers hair into a beautiful side up-do that lasted through the night ...her hair typically doesn’t hold a curl at all! All of the women felt beautiful and confident. Me perhaps most of all. After a night of dancing my life away and a day full of NYC humidity, my hair was still beautiful at the end of the night.

I was so lucky to find JoAnn and have my wedding makeup and hair done by her! Our whole wedding and all the preparations were made in a very short period of time, and I was looking for a stylist just a week or two before the wedding. After hearing from everyone "Are you crazy! It is such a short notice" and being already extremely stressed, I called JoAnn, who didn't even mention that my wedding is so soon! We talked and briefly discussed the makeup and hair, and I was already so calm after the conversation.

I didn't know what I wanted to do with my hair and didn't have a clear idea of the makeup (I just knew I didn't want anything extremely bright), so I fully trusted JoAnn's judgment here. I decided not to have a trial makeup -- just sent a picture of my dress.

The night before the wedding, we had a quick call, and JoAnn explained me how to prepare the skin before the big day! Our preparations started really early, and sharp at 6 AM JoAnn was already at my place. If I say that I was nervous, it won't say anything! I was shaking! :) Again, JoAnn, somehow really calmed me down just by the way of talking. She created very tender makeup and hair that looked perfect with the dress! I was very happy with the result!!! JoAnn even helped my mom with her hair!

Finding a hair and makeup artist in New York can be super overwhelming and stressful. I put my trust in JoAnn and I am so glad I did. I really am! She was super quick to respond to my calls and emails and answer any questions I had. I sent her a few pictures of hair and makeup ideas/inspiration. She arrived on time and perfectly achieved the look that I had imagined. She is so personable and a perfectionist. I was glowing, I felt amazing. It really showed in the photos. I highly recommend JoAnn and will use her again.

I had the pleasure of meeting JoAnn through my initial makeup artist/hairstylist who had a last minute emergency the day before our appointment and could not meet me. Thankfully JoAnn was available and saved me from stress! To say she is AMAZING is an understatement. She was incredibly responsive to my questions through email and was punctual, organized and extremely professional. She is a perfectionist and is obviously passionate about her work. She is engaging and is an excellent communicator. I felt completely safe in her hands based on her knowledge and expertise and the outcome was fantastic. Could not have felt more beautiful on my wedding day!

JoAnn took care of my wedding party which consisted of my mother, mother-in-law, and my two sisters. She did hair and make up for me, in addition to supervising everyone else, and did it beautifully without breaking a sweat! While she did have an assistant she made sure that the work was done to her standards.

I was initially concerned that hair and make-up could not be done by the same person assuming that the person could not be strong in both skills but she is. Her work is superior and her attention to detail is impeccable. She was punctual and did a great job at managing time.

JoAnn is great to work with! I first worked with JoAnn at my friend's wedding and really liked how JoAnn did my makeup and hair. A year later, JoAnn did my hair and makeup for my wedding and I felt beautiful the whole day. Her work is outstanding!

WHERE DO I BEGIN??? JoAnn has been my personal glamsquad for the last year and she is WONDERFUL! Since having my trial with JoAnn last year, she has done my hair and makeup for my engagement photos, my bridal shower and of course, my wedding. JoAnn is a true gem. I found her using Weddingwire and from the start, she was so sweet, timely and professional. I was so nervous but she put my mind at ease. I never did a trial so we communicated via email. I sent her pictures of the look I was going for and a picture of what I look like. On my wedding day, she arrived early to set up. She did her magic and was able to replicated what she saw in the picture. Everything was done in fact earlier than I anticipated. She did such a great job that I think her work looked better than the pictures I showed her. Guests couldn't stop complementing on my makeup all night. I couldn't get over how glamorous but still managed to look like myself. My makeup was flawless and withstood the 90F temp of my hot August wedding. I would highly recommend her. She's the best! You can trust that her work is top-notch! Also tip, get the lipstick so you can reapply throughout the night. :)

JoAnn did an amazing job with my hair and makeup for my wedding. I was so happy with my trial, but to my surprise, I looked EVEN BETTER for the day of my wedding day. I gave JoAnn a seemingly impossible task; I wanted my hair to be secure but loose, and my makeup to be natural but glamorous. JoAnn did exactly that. My wedding was on a boat and I stood on the windy windy dock of that boat IN THE RAIN to take photos and my hair and makeup stayed PERFECTLY. I got more compliments on my makeup than I did my dress. I definitely recommend JoAnn.

I was referred to JoAnn while calling around to find a makeup artist for my wedding via TheKnot’s vendor list. While JoAnn does more TV and runway makeup nowadays, I was put in the unfortunate position of finding a new make-up artist just two weeks before my wedding. Once I got on the phone with JoAnn, she was extremely empathic to my situation and wanted to make things right immediately. She came over the next day for a trial! JoAnn spent two hours detailing my makeup based on photos of different looks, my dress, venue and hair. (Side note: JoAnn is also a professional hairdresser but being it was two weeks before, I had already secured a hairdresser.) JoAnn doesn’t just apply makeup, she goes through your typical beauty routine to get to know you and hydrates & massages your skin with top of the line oils & lotions from her many product sponsors. She is of course a certified skin care professional! Then comes makeup. JoAnn brought an entire suitcase of different brands, colors, textures – and that doesn’t even scratch the surface of her collection! She was able to recreate a look I found online, make helpful suggestions and tailor changes until I felt like a beautiful bride. She has a professional booking, contract and payment process to make you feel secure. On the big day, she arrived on-time and ready to go! She was speedy and recreated exactly what we agreed on. Not only did she do a phenomenal job on my makeup; she was also kind enough to touch up some of my bridesmaids pro bono who were struggling with applying their own makeup. Not only that, but JoAnn actually rescheduled another appointment that afternoon to make sure I was perfectly happy with the finished product – the product being me, in my dress, floral crown pinned down and hair touch-ups finalized. What an angel!!! I would absolutely recommend JoAnn to anyone looking for a hair/makeup artist for just about any occasion!

JoAnn Solomon is absolutely one of the best make up artists I've had the pleasure of working with. Due to the fact that I tend to have lots of evenings out, I have my make up done a lot. I haven't been able to find anyone that has quite the special touch JoAnn has and actually, I don't even try to find anyone else anymore. If JoAnn is available, she is my "go-to".

She has that extra sense of what "your" face needs, what will give you that special glow with the most amazing head turning look with out being gawdy, or overdone, like some artists tend to do when they cross that invisible line...

JoAnn is a true artist, with great energy and a joy to be around. I feel honored to know her!

I highly recommend JoAnn. Not only how reasonable is her price but how wonderful are her personalities!!! She loves her job. She loves her clients beautiful. She is passionate about what she is doing and which it makes her a great artist. I had an awesome experience with her on my wedding reception. She did my makeup and hair and which I won the appreciation from people walking on the New York City when my husband and I photo shooting on the road.. Joann is great at what she does, She makes sure you look flawless when she's finished and my make up and hair lasted through the day with obvious lip touch ups.
We began at 6ish and my wedding wasn't till 3pm but I had to take pictures beforehand, it was windy and drizzling and I looked amazing at 3pm walking down the aisle.

Joann makes you feel comfortable and if you have any concerns she is very quick to help.

Joanne did my hair and makeup for 2 events. She is a true artist. What I loved about her is that she made me look like me. She really listens and understands what you want. My makeup was flawless and my hair was exactly what I wanted. She has amazing energy and is extremely calming. She also knows a lot of about healthy skin which goes hand in hand with makeup. I highly recommend Joanne for any occasion. I can't wait to use her again. It was hands down the best hair and makeup job I've ever had done!

JoAnn was amazing to say the least! She made me look and feel so beautiful on my wedding day. Her makeup work is flawless. She is so professional! Showed up to the hotel room with a little kit that opened up to this majestic display of makeup and anything you can think of for the face. She asked questions about the look I wanted and did exactly that on our trial and even more amazing on the big day. Not only is she friendly, punctual and professional but she took away all anxiety I had. From being freaked out about eyeliner getting inside my contacts (her eyeliner didn't do that which was amazing) to making sure I had just the right amount of make up where i would still look like myself (some makeup artists make the bride look like a porcelain doll) I just can't stress enough how amazing she is.

If you want to look flawless in all your photos and feel like a beauty queen, you need JoAnn to do your makeup. Trust me!! She's the best!!

P.S the minute you see her and her big warm smile when she walks into the room, all your nerves just melt right off and you just relax and get ready to get pampered and glamafied! :)

JoAnn was lovely and personable right from the first time I emailed her with my enquiry. As a bride from England getting married in New York, I was nervous about booking hair and make up with no prospect of a trial beforehand but I could tell from the off that JoAnn had a wealth of knowledge and experience. I was in safe hands! I was thrilled with both my hair and make up and so were my two friends. JoAnn did such an amazing job on my hair and make-up for my NYC Central Park elopement! I sent her an email with a hairstyle I would like and she did a fabulous job at making it come to life. When discussing make-up, I told her that I'd like to have a natural look and she did not disappoint at all. JoAnn gave me exactly what I wanted. The airbrush she used was great! It lasted all day and I would recommend this technique to anyone. The day I was married was extremely windy so I feared that my hair would not hold up for pictures throughout the park. However, JoAnn reassured me that she would secure everything and it wouldn't go anywhere... and it didn't! What an amazing person to work with! She is very easy to talk to and a breath of fresh air in such a busy industry. I recommend her to anyone!

I can't say enough amazing things about working with JoAnn for my wedding. From our first conversation, to our trial, to when I was running out to head to the church, I was so happy to be working with her. Not only was she professional, quick to respond, a great listener, and fun to be around, she most importantly was an AMAZING hair stylist/make up artist. JoAnn did my hair and makeup on my wedding day and I could not have asked for a better artist. I didn’t have a trial since I don’t live in New york and I was a bit nervous about that. But she really did a perfect job both with hair and makeup. It looked better than I had ever imagined. JoAnn is extremely talented and has an eye for beauty. She was very punctual and calm. As soon as I saw her my stress faded away. JoAnn even included makeup for my mom at no additional charge. We both got many compliments that day and ever since. JoAnn did my make-up for my wedding, and I can't say enough positive things about her. She was more than just a make-up artist, she became a huge part of my support system on the day of the event. We asked her to be there very early in the morning because it was a mid-morning wedding, and she was so punctual that she even arrived at the venue before we did. She was helpful, prepared, thoughtful and did an amazing job. Beyond the make-up, she jumped in without hesitation to help me and my family with any number of other minor things that popped up (including reminding me to eat!). I still can't believe how far above and beyond she went to make sure that my day started out and continued to go perfectly.

Most of all, she was incredibly warm and encouraging. A self-conscious person by nature, I was really nervous about the pressure to look great on the big day and JoAnn made me feel beautiful and empowered from the trial until I walked down the aisle. She emphasized my best features without using too much heavy make-up and as a result, I felt as though I still looked like myself, just better! She also gave me great advice about skincare on an ongoing basis, and took some of the fear and intimidation out of make-up for me.

I would recommend JoAnn without reservation, and would work with her again in a heartbeat. She helped me look and feel my best, and thanks in large part to her, everyone told me I was a beautiful bride.
