Music is VERY important to me!! Having music at my wedding needed to be perfect! I didn't even consider hiring anyone else but Jim! I have seen him play and he is the best of the best. I didn't worry about anything when I hired him, I knew my wedding would be perfect! He is a DREAM to work with! He went above and beyond my expectations. I didn't worry for a second about his music, I knew it would be fantastic. He made my ceremony so incredibly special! Everyone still talks about how amazing he was! I couldn't imagine anyone else playing and being a part of our special day! Thank you Jim for making our day so special!!! -

Jim was incredible at our wedding! He played as guests were arriving at the venue, during the processional, and during the recessional. He was enthusiastic to play at the wedding and the music was beautiful! It added such a special touch to the day, especially as I was walking down the aisle. Guests were raving about the music, even weeks later! Jim was also extremely easy to communicate with and promptly answered any questions we had. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for some live music at their wedding! -

Jim was the best! He performed the ceremony and cocktail hour music at our wedding a few months ago and was fantastic. The ceremony was so special and beautiful, thanks in large part to his music. Jim has a large repertoire of songs, was incredibly kind and easy to work with, and was flexible on the day of the wedding when we had to adjust plans due to poor weather. Having Jim perform during our ceremony was one of the best decisions my husband and I made for our wedding day! There is nothing like having live music play as you’re walking down the aisle— I truly felt like I was in a movie (which is exactly how every Bride should feel on her wedding day)! In addition to his musical expertise, Jim was a pleasure to work with. He was one of the few vendors we looked forward to meeting with throughout the wedding planning process. He was informative and professional when going over the details of booking his services and left us feeling very confident in our decision to have him perform after every meeting. He was also kind and thoughtful in his approach to brainstorming song selections and provided us with video demos of the few special songs we requested before selecting them as our picks. His kindness also extended into the day of, assisting us with providing an extra microphone for our officiant to use and being friendly to our guests upon their arrival to the ceremony. Everyone raved about his performance afterward! If I could do it all again, I would have booked Jim for the cocktail hour following our ceremony as well—we couldn’t get enough of his performance during our ceremony and are still in awe of his talent. Take it from this 2024 Bride—you want Jim to perform at your wedding! -

My now-husband and I found ourselves having to plan a wedding within two weeks due to the somber news that his father, soon to be my father-in-law, had only a few months to live following a cancer diagnosis. Originally, we had planned a small yet luxurious wedding at the Four Seasons on the Big Island in Hawaii. However, upon realizing our desire to have my husband's father present, we made the decision to cancel. Unfortunately, the Four Seasons proved to be less understanding; despite sharing pictures and notes from doctors, they refused a refund and even charged us an additional $4,500 for food and beverages.
After sharing our story within the Naperville area, we received a recommendation to contact the Naper Settlement to inquire about availability. Not only did they have an opening on our original wedding date, but Guest Services Representative Nicole Szczurek went above and beyond, providing us with a list of her top vendors to help execute our wedding within the tight 2-week timeline. At the top of the list was Jim Perona, whom we had researched on social media and listened to his music beforehand, confirming that he would be our ideal choice.
Upon sharing our situation, Jim responded promptly, committing to being our guitarist for the ceremony despite having another engagement in a different town earlier that morning. He assured us that he would make it to our ceremony on time. Jim collaborated with us on each song selection, alleviating our concerns by keeping the songs true to those initially chosen for our Hawaiian wedding. Not only was he accommodating, but he also had prior experience working with the other vendors, the officiant Nicole, and our photographer, ensuring a seamless wedding ceremony.
Words cannot express our gratitude to Jim. His involvement in our ceremony transformed a challenging emotional day into a beautiful memory. -

We hired Jim to play solo acoustic guitar for our wedding ceremony after being so impressed with his performance at a nearby venue. He is as easy to work with as he is amazingly gifted. He provided lots of options for songs he already knew to get us started, and he learned new songs just for us because that's what we wanted played. He even sent us informal recordings to ask us about the tempo and approach to the song so it was just right! It really was above and beyond anything we expected, and for an incredibly reasonable price. What's more, we also asked him to accompany our teenage daughter on a performance during the ceremony, and he was super awesome about working with her -- encouraging and accommodating and made everything super easy and fun. His music really contributed a lot to the vibe of our wedding, and we are forever grateful to him for his hard work and support and talent. -

Jim Perona is a class act! I am so fortunate that our paths crossed several years ago when he was playing at Adelle's restaurant in Wheaton, IL. We were quickly captivated by his music and his charming personality and love listening to Jim any time he is playing locally. Each time he plays is a treat (not to mention that he always plays our favorite songs)!
We love Jim's music so much, we booked Jim to play at both our engagement party dinner and our wedding. As always, he was HIT! He took the time to learn and play songs that meant so much to my husband and I, and I will forever remember how he played as my husband and I danced our first dance. Jim's music touches my heart. I cannot say enough good things. -

We hired Jim to be our music wizard during the ceremony and cocktail hour of our wedding. My wife and I were blown away by his professionalism, flexibility, and range before our wedding day. Then the day came and Jim absolutely crushed it. We had multiple people come up during cocktail hour and dinner to say how beautiful the ceremony music was. Cocktail hour was my favorite part of the evening because as we spoke to friends and family, Jim shredded classical renditions of our favorite songs. People were legitimately blown away. If I could give more then 5 stars I would because Jim is worth every penny. -

Jim was a perfect addition to our special day. He played beautiful music before, during and after our wedding ceremony and during dinner. His play list is extensive from classical to rock. Jim was incredible - he was so kind and patient with us, and willing to tailor everything to our specifications. We asked him for some particular things (announcements, music requests, etc) and he was so flexible and accommodating. He was perfectly communicative in the process and he offered us transparency by updating us on the progress of the songs he learned specifically for our wedding. His performance was outstanding, and our guests loved him too. We left the venue before our guests did, and he continued to play until the very last minute we were booked for, and even a little bit longer as our families were cleaning up at the end of the night! We were all blown away by his kindness and professionalism. By the end of the wedding process, he felt like a friend to us. We wanted our music to be personal and unique, not just another DJ - Jim went above and beyond our expectations. Can't recommend him highly enough. -

Jim was so great to work with. He responded quickly to our questions and I had a lot. He help and walked us through every step of the way. He also worked with us and learned to play some songs from our favorite video games that we wanted at our wedding. He played music from Pokémon, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts and more. Jim made our wedding day so special! He plays guitar beautifully and provided music for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner. Our guests commented on what a nice touch it was! Jim learned two custom songs for our wedding day. One was a rendition of a song that was special to my husband’s father - a man who does not typically cry was brought to tears when he heard it. Simply said, Jim Perona is a heck of a guy. We chose him to perform for our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour and he blew everyone away. We had seemingly endless guests coming to tell us how much they enjoyed his style and song selections. Not only that, Jim really had our backs through the entire process. When we couldn't decide on our cocktail songs, Jim put together a demo with snippets from a bunch of songs we were considering in a matter of days. And when it came to learning new and intricate songs from scratch, he was always excited and quick to share with us the beautiful results. Now whenever I remember our wedding day I will hear Jim's enchanting rendition of Iron and Wine. -

Jim was fantastic! My only complaint is that I didn't get to enjoy his music as long as my family and the other guests did, something you don't think about as a bride. His timing, professionalism, and talent were perfect. He worked with our officiant and ceremony coordinator the day of and everything went just as we had imagined. Jim learned three new songs for us free of extra charge and they turned out beautifully. He even played a demo for us over zoom to make sure it was sounding how we had imagined. I am definitely going to seek out his next local gig so I can hear more of his music because my friends and family couldn't stop talking about how wonderful he was. -

Jim was the easiest and most talented/experienced vendor we had at our wedding in the city of Chicago (late summer 2021). Jim is extremely organized and knows every step of his process and the wedding process applicable to his role like the back of his hand. The way in which he does business is clear, concise, and is backed up by a laundry list of awards and accolades. It is months later and we still have people asking us about him/his performance. We went with a more modern take of songs and Jim even learned how to play “Shallow” by Lady Gaga/Bradley Cooper per our request. There seemed to be no request which he could not manage or had seen before. We had a DJ for the rest of our event so we really loved incorporating some live music into our ceremony and cocktail hour. We cannot recommend Jim enough, you will not be disappointed with booking him for any intimate event. -

Made our small covid-friendly ceremony so special
Due to Covid, my husband and I went from a 200+ person wedding to a small intimate ceremony for 12. We chose to have our ceremony at The Morton Arboretum’s Fragrance Garden, and they highly suggested Jim for our music. I can say hands down, hiring Jim was the best decision we made. His music elevated our small short-notice wedding into something that felt like it could be truly treasured. Jim learned some of our favorite songs, including our first dance song that I also chose to walk down the aisle to. Hearing an acoustic Ho Hey by The Lumineers as I walked down the aisle towards my husband brought us both to tears. The timing worked out perfectly as well. Jim started playing while our guests set up the decorations and got seated, through our ceremony, and his set lasted through our family photos as well. There wasn’t a guest with us that didn’t say the music is what really brought it all together. I would highly recommend Jim for a small or large gathering. We were originally set to have a DJ play music for our ceremony (back when it was at a large venue) and I now know the experience we would have missed out on and we are glad it worked out this way. -

We had Jim perform at our wedding this past September for our cocktail hour, and he knocked it out of the park! He is extremely talented, professional, and super easy to work with. If you want any array of guitar rendering of any music, Jim can do it. We had him do his signature Spanish style guitar and covers of songs for our cocktail hour and all of our guests raved about it! Turns an average thing like cocktail hour into something that feels elegant and welcoming! Look no further, Jim is amazing! I couldn't recommend a better soloist, guitarist, musician, etc., for any occasion even aside from weddings! -

I can't recommend Jim enough. It was a treat to have him at our wedding. At first we were just going to have him for our cocktail hour, but due to covid had to change our wedding up and we had Jim play all evening for us. You should seriously look no further. Jim Perona played during our cocktail hour and dinner and was absolutely amazing. I have seen Jim perform live many times, and he never disappoints. We knew we HAD to have him play at our wedding. Jim was extra accommodating to the changes in our wedding plans due to Covid, responded quickly when we had questions, and played our special request songs.
I can't even describe how the vibe of cocktail hour and dinner changed when Jim started playing, and there was a moment where we looked around, while he played the song we requested, and couldn't believe this was OUR day. Many of our guests asked for his contact information as well. I can't say enough good things about Jim! I HIGHLY recommend him for your wedding or special event! -

Jim helped make my ceremony. It was nice to not have the "A" typical DJ doing the ceremony music. To have a this touch was notated by all guests of my day. It made it feel top notch and special. It was nice we got to pick all the music which made it important to us. He performed during our pre ceremony, ceremony and cocktail hour. I wish I would have booked him for dinner service as well. I wish I could have spent more time listing to him that day. Its these little things that really make it worth while and our wedding memorable. -

Jim was great to work with! He was very easy to communicate with, and worked with us to make sure the music at our ceremony was exactly what we wanted. We had a song request not on his usual list, so he sent us a video of him playing to make sure it was what we wanted. On our wedding day our ceremony got interrupted halfway through by a rainstorm (!!), but Jim was very flexible while we went to plan b. Would highly recommend! -

I could cry tears of joy just writing this review, Jim was so incredible and the best decision we made when choosing a musician for our wedding! Jim performed from prelude through dinner and set the tone perfectly for our rooftop city wedding, our guests couldn't get over how awesome he was! Not only is he a great guitarist but is willing to learn and special songs you request. I was deciding between a couple of different songs for the processional and recessional for the ceremony and Jim, without hesitation, recorded a couple examples of how these songs would sound and sent them to me that same day. He was an absolute pleasure to work with, and he seemlessly worked with all our vendors and our officiant. Talented and so easy to work with! We can't wait to go see him when he performs in town too! -

My husband and I chose to have Jim play at our wedding, cocktail hour and dinner after my parents heard him on New Year’s Eve and raved about his performance. We contacted Jim and he provided us with song lists and suggestions for the various parts of the ceremony. He was extremely professional in every correspondence. On the day of the wedding, our outdoor ceremony was moved indoors at the last minute due to rain. He quickly adapted to the change without any direction – he moved all of his gear and equipment inside and was ready to go without missing a beat. He was willing and ready to do whatever was needed. His guitar playing was beyond beautiful and he blended into the ceremony/cocktail hour/dinner perfectly. During the dinner hour, we realized he was taking requests from our guests and played everything they asked. Not only did we get a guitar player, we got a true performer. At the end of Jim’s playing time, our guests gave him a spontaneous standing ovation. To this day when our guests discuss our wedding, they always mention the amazingly talented Jim Perona. If we were getting married 100 times (or planning a future occasion), we would hire Jim again in a heartbeat. -

We knew we wanted live music for our ceremony and we found Jim through my wife’s mother out east. She plays weddings and company events as well. Jim invited us out to see him play live at a beautiful steakhouse in the suburbs of Chicago. He played requests and made picking out songs fun and relaxing. The day of our wedding couldn’t have gone better. The sound was perfect and Jim was early and ready to go when the time came to play. Highly recommend Jim for your next event. -

Jim played our wedding at the end of June this past summer. He was absolutely fantastic! From planning to playing, everything ran smoothly. The day of he showed up and set up and it was almost as if he was behind the scenes. He played all of the music that we requested and he even learned a few songs for us! The transitions in between songs were flawless and everything was beyond perfect. Our guests had great feedback and we would absolutely recommend him! -

Alanna Sent on 10/10/2018Jim did such a great job for our wedding. He is quick to respond, quite affordable for the amazing quality of his work, and great to work with. His has a large repertoire but can also learn new songs (he knew all of our requests already!). You can also “trial run” and listen to him at his many live performances. My only regret is that we didn’t keep him on to play through our cocktail hour, too!
