It was great to have Jim photographing our special day! He is so professional, knowledgable, and easy to work with. Jim got some truly amazing shots from our ceremony and reception, while remaining almost entirely out of the way and invisible. Our guests loved him too!

I was very picky when searching for our photographer. I wanted to find someone who would make sure we got the basics covered but most importantly find someone who would capture the special moments throughout the day. Jim was able to do just that! We had some great family formals and staged photos together (which turns out I'm really glad we did) and tons of great moments. Jim was very flexible. He would throw out suggestions along the way or be on board as we thought of things we wanted to do on the spot. Jim even got creative with some of our guests in some photos which was awesome to see since we couldn't be there for every moment with them. At no point did we feel like he was intrusive and super easy to work with. You can tell Jim truly loves what he does. I would without a doubt recommend working with Jim.

Jim is so great!! My guests loved him. He was no where and everywhere according to my pictures. I never felt like he was hovering. He has this talent with his candids to catch the pure emotion or heart of his subject. They were my favorite ones. The day flies by and looking back at the pictures I feel like he was able to freeze a small moment in time that I missed in the hustle and bustle. If you love candids more then formals, you will not be sorry if you book him.

Jim had been the photographer at my sister's wedding, so we knew we didn't have to go far to find the best photographer to capture our day. Jim has the ability of capturing those small and big moments during the day that are so important. We received our photos very quickly and going through them was so much fun. His art is high quality and allows you to be brought back to your special day and remember all of the fun (and also discover moments you may have forgotten or did not see). I highly recommend Jim for your special day, he is professional during the pre-wedding planning and the day of, being prompt, friendly, and focusing entirely on your day.

Jim and I have known each other a while. He has done my senior pictures and now my wedding. He is very flexible and makes sure the day of the wedding goes smoothly and makes sure you get all the pictures you're hoping for. The pictures came out absolutely amazing. Jim was awesome. He took really great photos of my husband and me and of everyone who attended. We have some amazing candid shots in addition to our wonderful formal shots. He worked really well with the kids in the wedding party and got them all have fun taking pictures. He delivered our gallery of pictures so quickly which we really appreciated. We really loved the whole experience. I would definitely recommend Jim.

Jim was fantastic! We were recommended Jim by a family friend and we are so glad we chose him! The initial consult was over the phone. About a month or so before our wedding we met in person to go over all the details. Jim took a lot of time to go over the timeline of the day, and he had a lot of helpful suggestions regarding things we had never considered, such as lighting and the timing of the the moving parts of the day. When our big day came Jim was on time and ready to go! We got married in December in VT and I wanted pictures outside since we had such a beautiful location to work with, Jim moved quickly (so none of us had to stand in the cold for long) and the shots came out STUNNING! We are thrilled! Not only do we have some gorgeous formals, but Jim has a great talent for capturing all the special candid moments that happen throughout the day. We have had so much fun looking at all the shots of our friends and family having the time of their lives! We have so many great shots we still can't pick our favorite, we love them all! Not only does Jim do great work, but he got our digitals to us in only a couple weeks! We would highly recommend Jim! Lea & Steve

Jim Canole is such a nice guy. He took beautiful photos and was completely easy and a joy to work with. Jim was interested in the wedding, in our guest and us, the bride and groom. Jim also quickly did the engagement photo shoot for us in a matter of a few weeks to schedule. We were very impressed and so were our guests. I would highly recommend Jim.
Our wedding was a rainy day but the pictures were still beautiful. Rain or Shine Jim made it seem sunny!!

Jim was great! He was flexible and accommodating — very careful to listen to what we wanted and envisioned for the day — and extremely professional, always very responsive by phone/email, and always on time! We loved that he was able to get creative with us on the day with our bride/groom shots, and really take advantage of our slightly unusual setting (Mount Auburn Cemetery). We were definitely very happy with the end results!

His rates are definitely very reasonable, too. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

As the bride of the wedding, the day FLIES by in ways you can't even describe. Looking back there are moments that I don't even remember. Because of this, you want someone who will not only capture the moments of the day but also the FEELINGS of the day. Jim Canole did just that! Many of the photos friends took on their phones show the events and are beautiful, Jim however captured the emotions of the day as they were happening in such an authentic way. As a result of his PHENOMENAL skill capturing those emotions, we can truly relive the best day of our lives.

Jim out did himself. You can see in each of our photos that Jim cared as much about our wedding day as we did. If we ever got the chance to do the day all over again, Jim would be the first person I called to hire.

Jim was just excellent. We booked with him a year before our wedding based on other reviews, and we were not disappointed. Jim was a consummate professional, on top of scheduling pre-wedding calls and took the time to understand what we were looking for. Day of, he easily managed our 16 person wedding party, was patient when I was uncomfortable having my photo taken and hit every special photo request we had (plus some others we didn't know we'd want). Lastly and most importantly, when we got our photos back they were amazing! I don't know how Jim managed to remain in the background during our ceremony and reception yet not miss a single moment. We couldn't be happier, and we'd book with Jim again.

There is only one chance for your wedding photos to be what you dreamed and hoped they would be. With Jim Canole, they exceeded every expectation. Every important moment was captured with the most authentic facial reactions, in a photojournalistic, but also artistic way. The beauty of so many photos has taken our breath away. Every person that has seen all the photos has been in awe of how well the day's emotions have been captured. With every photo, we re-live that exact moment of the day. It was a very long day from getting ready in the hotel, to the church wedding, to formal photos in a park, to the cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing. Jim was constantly working and stayed so all the right shots and memories could be taken. He was easy to work with, a great listener, knowledgeable, and a true professional. Jim is such a terrific photographer. We were so happy with how all of our pictures came out! His candid shots are amazing and he's like a photographic ninja in the sense that you don't even notice he's there taking the pictures, yet somehow manages to capture the best shots! Some people may hire multiple photographers to ensure that no shot is missed, but I guarantee you that Jim will not miss a single shot. Jim is more than an excellent photographer. He is also a patient, kind, and considerate friend. We felt so lucky to have met Jim just one month before our wedding day. He offered us attractive price compared with other 5 star photographers. Jim also shot our engagement pictures in downtown Boston two weeks before our wedding. He is very comfortable to work with. He is able to make us relaxed and be ourselves in front of his camera. That's why his photos are always natural and candid even with some posed ones. Since Jim had never shot photos at the venue we held our wedding, he checked out the place and planned ahead where to capture the best moments. He was very detail oriented and well prepared that he took a lot of time communicating with us who and what we want to be in the photos to remind us our most special day. On our wedding day, Jim worked very hard and was great capturing the candid and special moments. Our parents really enjoyed working with Jim as well, since he's so unobtrusive as a photographer, but nice and caring as a friend. We are very happy with our photos and very glad we had him to be the one who remind us all the precious memories of the day!

My experience working with Jim was stellar from start to finish. I would recommend him again and again. Jim was our first choice from the moment we saw his portfolio. Jim's pure talent at capturing emotion in a candid moment really stuck out to us over other work we reviewed. Since my husband and I both believed that making a decision to hire a photographer was one of the most important decisions of the wedding planning process, our expectations of Jim were high. He knocked it out of the park in every way!

Jim was responsive and flexible throughout the process of planning our wedding, from helping us put together the best package to spending plenty of time on the phone going over wedding day details. On our wedding day itself, we anticipated that timing would be tight--yet Jim managed to adhere comfortably to schedule. Because our wedding took place at an old mansion it was logistically complicated--but Jim didn't miss a single beat. We have SO many good pictures from our wedding that we still can't seem to narrow down our favorites. We are so thankful that we hired Jim and absolutely recommend him to other couples!

Choosing Jim as our wedding photographer was one of the best decisions we made throughout the wedding planning process. We were drawn to Jim's focus on capturing candid moments, and he truly has a great eye for finding and catching the most meaningful and unique parts of the day. The photos turned out absolutely amazing - everything we had hoped they would be and more. We’ve received so many compliments on them, and we’re so grateful to have memories of our special day in such great photographs. We had also decided to do engagement photos with Jim (also turned out great!) which we were really happy we did because it gave us a chance to get used to being photographed and to get to know Jim. Throughout the entire process, he focused on what we wanted and provided helpful suggestions and ideas. Jim was great to work with! He responded to my emails right away. We were able to set up a time to meet with him promptly and he took his time answering our questions and showing us his work. He set up a second meeting before our wedding to make sure he had a list of all the photos we wanted that day. On our wedding, he arrived promptly and was professional and fun to work with. His love of his work showed through as he would show us some of the photos he took right after taking them. He has amazing energy and covered a lot of ground that day. He had a list of our requested photos to make sure he got everything we wanted and was flexible when we decided not to do certain shots that day. We couldn't be happier with our pictures! Jim has a gift for catching people's expressions and emotions so the photos reflect all the feelings of our wedding day. He made a beautiful slide show, posted photos on his Facebook page and wrote some lovely blogs about our day on his website. We now have the slideshow and CDs of 1,000 pictures to use as we like. I can't recommend Jim highly enough. You won't be disappointed if you hire him for your wedding!

I first met Jim five years ago when he photographed my brother's wedding. After working with him that day and seeing the photos, I knew I wanted him to shoot my wedding some day.
Jim photographed my Boston wedding on 8/7/15 and I cannot say enough great things!
So many couples have their pictures taken in the public garden and I truly feel mine are like no other - they're gorgeous, unique, and captivating. Candid shots are his specialty and they do not disappoint! I have so many great photos of little moments that would have gone forgotten if it weren't for Jim.
Jim was so easy to work with, we felt comfortable and natural, and it shows in the photos - no fake smiles!
I believe that the photographer is the most important vendor, they capture lasting memories, and Jim Canole does this with the highest level of expertise and professionalism.
I highly recommend Jim, he is simply the best!

Jim photographed our wedding on August 1st, 2015, and we were blown away with the photos. To say we are happy with them would be an understatement. Jim is creative, unique, and manages to somehow be everywhere at once! He captured so many moments during our wedding, you would think there was more than one of him. His creativity took our photos to the next level, and our guests couldn’t stop complimenting how wonderful he was throughout the night. Jim took beautiful pictures! In fact, one of my regrets on the wedding day was not looking at/enjoying all of the small details I had researched and thought so much about (centerpieces, candy bar, the flowers at the ceremony, the mailbox I decorated, etc.), but Jim got pictures of all of these things and it just made my day! Now I don't feel like I missed out on them! Going through his photos was like reliving the wedding day, which put a smile on my face because the wedding just felt like a blur.

Jim Canole was the photographer for our wedding and I would highly recommend hiring him for yours. Jim was always extremely prompt with emails. His website is easy to navigate and he recently started a facebook page for his business. He was easy to work with and very accommodating. He was very flexible on the wedding day when we wanted to hire him for extra time.

Our photos are wonderful. He captured a lot of candid moments of us and our guests. We are very happy with how they came out. Within 3 days of the wedding he gave us about 10 finished photos as a teaser. Within 3 weeks we had access to all of our photos.

Planning a wedding on the East coast while living on the West coast had its challenges. Erik and I were able to go back East to have our engagement shoot. Some of the poses felt awkward or not "us", but really who is use to standing in front of the lens. Then we got to see the pictures and Jim did an amazing job of capturing us. I was confident in the work Jim could do. He remained in contact throughout the whole engagement, figuring out the plans and our wants in shots for the day. Erik and I were more interested in joining the celebration instead of getting pictures taken, plus it was a very hot evening. Jim encouraged us to get outside alone before the sun went down and get some more shots. I wasn't excited about that but when the wedding day was over I was worried that I was going to regret not getting enough shots of the two of us. Three weeks later the pictures were ready for us to view and I was blown away. Then a few more days go by and I receive another email from Jim. This email included a slideshow of the photos. He was able to pick out the best of the best, because let's be honest looking through 1000 pictures gets overwhelming. Both Erik and I had a long few weeks back at work since the wedding and coming home to the slideshow one night was amazing. Jim is very talented and the best part is I don't even remember him being there that day. He was so sneaky but still able to be everywhere.

Erik and I were fortunate to not have to pay for our wedding, although I did my research. Jim's price is reasonable for the quality of his work and what he offers. Yes I would definitely recommend Jim. I feel his work speaks for itself.

Jim was a pleasure to work with for our June 2013 wedding. He was very good at giving us direction to come up with some fabulous, creative couple shots that we never would have thought of on our own. He made great use of the space at our chapel and the reception grounds. He was also great at balancing when to give ideas and when to just let everybody be in order to capture the candid emotion of the day. Many of the best shots came from times we didn’t even realize he was there. I was very impressed that he sent sample photos within a few days so that we could view them with my family before they left town. The Facebook album is also a nice touch that allows for easy sharing with friends and family. Overall, I would highly recommend Jim for your wedding.

Our wedding took place on April 13, 2013 at the Crane Estate in Ipswich, MA. Jim was our photographer-- and he was great! He was very flexible when it came to meeting before the actual event, especially because my husband and I have two very different schedules. Jim was also great about getting back to us in a timely manner. On the day of the wedding, things went very smoothly. Jim was very professional- and managed to capture the entire event! After the wedding, people asked me for both my photographers names-- and they were shocked to find out we only had one photographer. That's because Jim somehow managed to be in 3 places at once!!
Our pictures came out beautifully, and I can't wait to put our album together!! Future couples would be very lucky to have Jim shoot their wedding!

Jim was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. The photos he took at the wedding are gorgeous. It's been great reviewing them and seeing a million little details and moments that we were to busy to notice the day of. He truly captured our wedding perfectly and we will treasure these photos for years to come. We really appreciated that he was always completely up front with us, what he advertised is exactly what we received. If anything Jim went above and beyond. Our guests loved him and everyone we've spoken to from the wedding has commented on both how great the pictures came out and how hard Jim was working the entire night. Fabulous! Jim truly does incredible work!! He does a mixture of formal & candid shots that just come out beautiful. He is super accommodating, goes above and beyond to really capture every important moment. He has great ideas that capture the joy and magic from the day and his photos really reflect that. He provides you with a CD of all your pictures and even makes a neat slideshow of a selective few that truly bring you back to your special day.

He is very friendly, professional, and truly an amazing photographer. We highly recommend Jim. He took so many wonderful pictures, making it difficult for us to pick out our favorites :) One other aspect we enjoyed was that he is very timely, we didn't have to wait months to receive our pictures. Within just a few days we had a selective few and by the end of the month we had the rest of them. Our wedding pictures turned out beautifully and will truly hold its value for years to come. Jim provided us with a wonderful mix of formal and candid pictures, many of which are breathtaking. Our wedding was challenging to capture, with the ceremony taking place in a large dark church, some pictures taken outside with varying weather, and party pictures in a ballroom. Through and through, he not only recorded the day, he captured the personalities of the wedding party and guests. His easygoing yet professional manner kept the wedding party and guests at ease, and he never stopped looking for opportunities for good shots without being the least bit intrusive. He was especially good at capturing photographs of the many children at the wedding, both formal and candid. He worked very well with both shy and extroverted kids. Before the wedding, he met with us twice and on the day of the wedding made sure to take all the pictures we - and the guests - wanted. He also showed excellent flexibility when some things did not go exactly as planned. All in all, Jim was the absolute ideal photographer.

My husband and I hired Jim to be our wedding photographer after he photographed two of my friends weddings last fall. We had an engagement shoot in the spring as an add-on to our package, which I highly recommend. I was very comfortable with Jim, and I LOVE his work. On top of that, he traveled all the way from MA to our wedding location in western CT without a question! I would recommend Jim because he is extremely punctual, responded to all of my emails quickly, and our wedding photographs are incredible. He captured so many things that I was too busy to notice, which I didn't realize was such a big deal until I saw the pictures. He gets out on the dance floor and gets amazing shots of people dancing, every guest at the wedding (we had about 120, and I think he got a shot of every single guest). I am very happy with my photos and I'm sure you will be too!

My wedding was planned in a matter of weeks, so I had to find a photographer ASAP. But not just any photographer, I wanted the best! I contacted several photographers after reviewing their style and was just let down. We came across Jim's profile on the Knot and Weddingwire. His reviews were amazing and for all the right reasons. We loved his photo albums. He contacted me right away and was always available to talk to me even for several hours at the oddest hours since my work schedule is chaotic.

Our wedding was in the Boston area, but we lived out of state and despite the distance, Jim was very accommodating. We met with him and he showed us albums, photos, etc and listened to our suggestions and thoughts. He wrote everything down to make sure he didnt forget anything and suggested some great ideas. We were so comfortable with him! On the wedding day, we had a city photo shoot and despite the limited time due to traffic and the groom being late (shaking head now), He was so accommodating and came up with amazing ideas and snap shots. His energy and excitement were great! He made it fun and playful and took the most beautiful shots you can imagine. All the stress I had were completely gone thanks to him!

The wedding itself was an even greater experience. He now had to accommodate us and our guests. He blended in well and managed to get photos that not only surprised us but created beautiful memories. Since we ran late to begin with, he insisted on staying several hours longer just to capture more memories. Again, his energy and excitement was great! He made everything fall into place and went above and beyond.

Bottom line, Jim is a great photographer and exhibits great professional attitude but also a fun and loving that makes your special day even more special and leaves you with well taken memories of such a happy day.

I recommend him 200%, do not hesitate to contact him! When you see his work, you wont! :) Happy wedding!

Jim was great and easy to work with. He has an eye for great shots and his photos tell a story about the day. Not only did he get great shots of the wedding and ceremony, but he also took great pictures of other guests and couples at the wedding. People were thrilled. Lastly, his turn around time with the photos is incredibly quick. We didn't have to wait months to get the pictures, they were available right when we got back from our honeymoon.

We had Jim take both our engagement pictures and our wedding pictures and words cannot describe how happy we are with their quality! We still have guests telling us (now three months after our wedding) that they love our pictures. Each shot really captured the joy and magic of our day and told the story of our wedding. Jim went out of his way to not only take pictures of my husband and I as the bride and groom but also of our 170 guests talking, laughing, dancing, and having a terrific time. We have great shots of all of our family and friends now! And, since Jim lets his clients be the "owners" of the pictures, I have been able to share all of these pictures with our loved ones at no cost to them. Jim was very easy to work with and was always very professional. Whenever we had questions or concerns, he was quick to respond and offer explanations. He met with us a few times immediately prior to our wedding to go through our "must have" shots to make sure that we got all the photos we wanted on our big day. On the day of the wedding he arrived on time with index cards of our "must have" shots so that they were not forgotten during our hectic day! Overall, we were thrilled with our choice of Jim Canole for our wedding photography. Besides deciding to get married, it was one of the best decisions my husband and I made!

It is obvious from the very beginning Jim takes great pride in his work. He wants to make sure you love your photos and he will sit with you in advance to go over pictures you want and talk to you on the phone so that you don't need to do this on your wedding day and you can just enjoy the day. His style is the photo journalism style which is great because he doesn't interrupt special moments just to get a picture. He captures those natural looks and when you see the pictures you love them and you think "I didn't even know he was taking pictures". Jim is also friendly and very professional and I am so happy we chose him as our photographer.

My husband and I were so happy that we went with Jim Canole for our wedding photographer. As we were not having a videographer, the photos alone would tell the story of the day. In short, Jim DELIVERED!! The photos were just unbelievable. He captured all of the important moments with an artistic eye. He truly captured the spirit of the day. Even the formals were gorgeous! They were lively and not "stiff". Jim is top notch. He is truly a professional who knows what he is doing. There is so much I could say about Jim's photography. They art work in his photos, the emotions he captures, and the beauty he sees through the lens of a camera. But I am sure you will find all of that true and more just by looking at his work. What you can't see directly in his photos is the man behind the camera. He is kind, sweet, passionate, intelligent, and an amazing presence to have on what can be a very hectic day. I truly appreciate having Jim there for me on my wedding day. He was so much fun to go exploring with on the grounds, finding amazing places to take photos, encapsulating the tenderness and magic of the day. The second happiest day of 2011, was when Jim emailed me to say the pictures were up and ready to be seen. I still sit and flip through my wedding album, showing friends and family and remembering all that took place on August 6th, 2011.

I didn't think I would ever be able to have the kind of wedding photos that I would truly love to look at for years to come. Jim fulfilled just that dream.

We met for an initial no-commitment meeting, and he was very good about explaining the entire process to me, and showing me lots of his previous work. Not being an expert, I didn't really know how to articulate what I wanted, but Jim asked all the right questions, and looking at examples really helped. I didn't know that I like sepia pictures as well as black and white, and they are now some of my favorites from the whole wedding.

Jim is a very kind and calming person, and I knew that the wedding photos would be in safe hands with him. I'm not used to having my photo taken, and there were a few camera shy people among the guests, but he made us all feel very comfortable.

Jim checked in with me well before the wedding to make sure everything was going to plan, and he asked for some info about specific shots that I wanted to include (college friends group, high school friends group etc). On the night, this meant that he was able to be the task master, and I didn't have to worry at all about remembering anything. He gently pulled people aside at convenient moments to make sure that he got all the shots I asked for.

The end results are beautiful - a mixture of formal photos and brilliant candids. Judging by the pictures, he seemed to be everywhere at once, although during the evening I feel as though I hardly saw him. Jim was truly a stealth photographer, which is quite a feat considering the fact that there were only 34 people at the wedding! Jim captured some really touching moments, and some hilarious ones, and I feel that the evening is truly represented fully in the photographic record. He also took lots of pictures of the details of the venue, the cake, the decorations etc which are really nice to have - I wouldn't remember anything if I didn't have these!

I wholeheartedly recommend Jim to anyone planning a wedding, big or small. He just has a way of capturing the moment really naturally. My wedding was very small, in a small room, at night in the middle of winter in Boston (ie no opportunities to go outside, no natural light, not too much variety of setting) and still Jim managed to produce a really dynamic and interesting set of photographs. Amazing! Apart from the groom and my dress, Jim was the best wedding decision I made.

Jim was a wonderful photographer and his photojournalistic style captured all those special moments at the wedding. The ceremony and cocktails were outdoors on Boston harbor and the reception was indoors. Jim was able to create gorgeous photos in any light and spent time prior to the wedding figuring out how to get the best results. He was courteous and pleasant to work with, and "faded into the background' the entire evening, just as he said he would. We are so pleased with the photos and can't think of any way they could have been better!

Don't pass up the opportunity to have Jim be your wedding photographer. We interviewed many photographers and once we met Jim we knew he is going to be the best. He is professional and accommodating. His work is by far the best we saw. He has a real talent to bring the photographs alive. He captures people's expressions and creates very memorable photographs. He has an easy going attitude. Jim's photography was fantastic. We went with him because he was able to exactly match our desire for wedding photos that had just a bit of art to them beyond your typical wedding photos. Every single photo came out beautiful and would be well suited to blowing up and hanging on the wall as an art print. He is definitely a premium photographer (in fact, after seeing how good his photos looked, we skipped on the videographer), and while his prices were very competitive for such, they are still a similar cost to other premium wedding photographers.

We decided to book Jim very quickly after meeting him and it ended up being one of the best decisions we made for our wedding on the afternoon of June 14. Not only was he very professional and accommadating, he was also easy going and accessible. My husband and I wanted the photo-journalism style, and that was one of the reasons we selected Jim, but my family ( evidently....I had no idea) loves the group shots... Thankfully, Jim was able to do everything, and we couldnt be happier.... and he was very reasonably priced too.... which is always nice! We feel like we got great 'bang for the buck' for our photos! You wont be disappointed if you book him!!!

Jim was WONDERFUL and he was very professional. He was great with our guests and the children in the wedding party and the wedding. He wasn't pushy when taking pictures of anyone and lwt us (the bride and groom) set the tone for how we wanted the flow of the day go. And he wasn't in our faces the whole day which is what we really loved. I highly reccomend him!

Jim was extremely thorough and engaged throughout the entire process. He got all of the key pictures but also a lot of creative ones - these are the ones we keep going back to to admire! He's great with candids, and really has a photojournalistic eye; we really felt like we relived the event through the photos.
