A magical ceremony

Jennifer was so wonderful. She added to our wedding with her genuineness and professionalism. Our guests loved her as well. We highly recommend her!

Couldn’t ask for a better ceremony!

My husband and I were in a bind and needed an officiant about a month before the wedding, and we absolutely lucked out when Jennifer messaged us back and said she was available. She did the ceremony with such heart and warmth, that everyone asked if she had known us for years prior! Her ceremony speech nailed it too, she was able to get our relationship just with the few conversations we had.

Can’t thank her enough for such a beautiful ceremony!

Enthusiastic and experienced officiant

We hired Jennifer as our officiant for our ceremony. She was responsive and provided our script promptly. She was flexible and willingly made a change we needed closer to our wedding date. She attended our rehearsal and was quite helpful directing the run through. She projected her voice well which helped a lot since our ceremony was outdoors and she was able to adapt quickly when we had some wind during the ceremony too. Overall we would definitely recommend Jennifer.

Perfection!

We couldn’t be happier with the wedding Jennifer put together for us. We wanted something just for us in this time of COVID 19, and she definitely delivered. The location she selected was beautiful. She provided witnesses and they were great. They even took some really nice pictures for us. We whole heartedly recommend Jennifer and her team.

The best we could hope for!

We found Jennifer on WeddingWire and reached out for our COVID wedding this year. She was super friendly and helpful from the start, we spoke on the phone and then emailed back and forth. She had sample ceremony vows that we worked from which made it very easy. On the day of, she showed up promptly and spoke loudly for all to hear (we were a bit spread out cause COVID). After the ceremony, we realized we had forgotten to Zoom / stream it for family to watch from afar! She laughed and said let’s do it again! So we had two ceremonies back to back. It was hilarious and I’m SO thankful to have worked with Jennifer who rolled with the punches and was so ever patient and flexible. She’s the best, and was also really affordable. Thanks so much Jennifer!

Jennifer was an amazing officiant! She was really able to capture our personalities as a couple and make a wonderfully unique ceremony script. We got lots of comments afterwards from guests that it was one of the best wedding ceremonies they'd been to. Jennifer made the entire process easy for us and was very timely with all the little updates and changes we had before the day. We highly recommend her!!!

Jennifer Nies was such a great decision in our wedding vendor selection. I will describe some of the highlights of her work below.

My now husband and I were in a panic to find a complete stranger to say some of the most important words spoken in ones lifetime. We met with a handful of officiants, yet no one compared to Jennifer. Most vendors will put up a mask and tell you what you want to hear. We didn’t get that vibe from her. She was not only extremely professional, but such a sweet person. After our meeting with her, my husband and I both instantly agreed she was the perfect fit for us.

One of the many things we appreciated about Jennifer was her flexibility. She could accommodate any request for a wedding. If we practiced a mysterious religion and wanted everyone to take a shot of hot sauce then chant something crazy during the wedding.. she could make it happen and do it wonderfully. (This never happened but it sounds like it would be a fun wedding).

The whole process of getting the vows prepared was such a daunting task for me. Only having to answer 10 questions and have her create 30 min of ceremony from it was LIFE SAVING. She took our stories separately and made something that sounded like it came from a PG romance novel.

Another thing my husband and I appreciated about Jennifer was her background in law. This may not seem to correlate, but the way she translated our thoughts was articulated so beautifully. We had multiple people come up to us after the ceremony and express their admiration for her work. The whole night was a big blur, but I do remember the words she spoke to us as we tied the knot. She spoke so clearly and slowly that it grasped all the guests attention.

I could go on and on about why I chose this vendor. If you are reading this, I encourage you to simply have a meeting with her. I have no doubt you will instantly fall in love with her just like we did.

Jennifer is amazing! We loved working with her. We did a hand washing unity ceremony and she worded the ceremony elegantly. She wrote us a personalized ceremony based off of our personalities and needs. She is very kind and helpful. She had insightful advice and made our ceremony dream into a perfect reality. Jennifer was wonderful to work with, we were planning our wedding from out of town and she was so accommodating about speaking with us over the phone and gathering our details to make the ceremony unique and personal, and exactly what we both hoped for.

If you're looking for someone who is warm, kind, efficient, that can help you craft a well thought out personal ceremony, definitely give her a call. Whether you want to be involved in every detail of the ceremony, or you want to give her the basics and go with the flow- she's so easy to work with, and will definitely be an asset to you on your big day as she'll be the one making sure all the legal details are filed away so your marriage is legit... :)

Jennifer was absolutely incredible! My husband and I had met with officiants prior to meeting with Jennifer and were not exactly thrilled with our options. We met with Jennifer and almost instantly we could both tell she was our perfect fit! She was so warm and inviting. She was very communicative throughout the whole process. She asked questions to get to know more about our story so she could weave these details into our ceremony. Jennifer was fantastic and professional and I couldn't be more pleased with how everything went!

What can I say about Jennifer... she was absolutely amazing. Ben and I are so glad we chose her to marry us as she was nothing but kind, non-judgemental, creative and (let's be honest) the backbone of our wedding. From start to finish she was responsive, sensitive and was sure to walk us through everything. She was also flexible when we decided that we untimely didn't want to write our own vows.

She arrived right on time... and came into pure chaos. No one in my wedding party was sure what to do or where to go (we decided to skip a rehearsal in hindsight I would not recommend that!) and I was a complete wreck. She managed to take control of the situation and tell everyone what to do while also calming me and being so kind. She was amazing. When it was all said and done we had so many people coming up to Ben and I telling us that was the best ceremony they had ever seen and it reflected us as a couple so well. If you're still searching look no further, Jennifer is all you need!

Finding a wedding officiant in Portland was difficult for us. Finding someone who could perfectly balance the emotion, joy, nerves, and ritual aspects of a wedding ceremony can be a challenge. We found that there were officiants who were syrupy, others who were very set in their ways, and a few who wanted to charge an arm and a leg. For those of you looking for an officiant who can pull of that balance, at a reasonable price point, with a bright smile and very open & positive outlook on marriage (and life) -- Jennifer Nies is perfect for you.

Jennifer is outgoing, well-spoken, accommodating, and really easy to work with. Her process for building a wedding ceremony was simple and it led to a spectacular script to which we made 1 very minor modification. To be able to generate a script that describes you, your soon-to-be-spouse, and you as a couple is hard work and Jennifer far exceeded our expectations and hopes for our ceremony. Any and all feedback that we shared with Jennifer about how we wanted our ceremony to go, flow, or work she was open to and willing to work with. On top of building our bespoke ceremony, Jennifer helped us craft our vows that complimented one another but still respected our individual differences. Out of all of our vendors, Jennifer was very organized, planned ahead, professional, and even worked directly with our wedding planner to ensure our ceremony was perfect. When it came time for our ceremony, she executed it flawlessly! I cannot say enough positive things about Jennifer -- she was, hands down, one of our favorite vendors and we will be recommending her to all our family and friends! If you choose to work with Jennifer, you will not regret it - in fact, you will walk away from your wedding knowing you made the best decision selecting her as your officiant (definitely reinforced by all the positive feedback you will get from your guests!).

She was so easy to work with and very friendly! I heard from people attending my wedding that they thought she did a wonderful job officiating the wedding. She speaks clearly and slowly and did an amazing job writing the ceremony! Would definitely recommend her!

Jennifer created an amazing ceremony for my now husband and I. It was personalized and really shared our story and who we are! She met with us and went over the information we provided which made us really comfortable and excited for the wedding. Jennifer did an incredible job as our officiant! We love love loved our ceremony by Jennifer. We found her on WW, reached out, and her responsiveness was top-notch. She discussed all our options with us, sent us sample ceremonies, and was super clear about all the details. She was very friendly and professional through the whole process, but the highlight was the ceremony. Her energy is so beautiful, as are her words. We went with one of the shorter, pre-written ceremonies, and it sounded incredibly fresh and new (though she's probably done it a thousand times). I simply cannot recommend Jennifer highly enough. She's a star.

Jennifer did our elopement at Wahclella Falls. We had never met her and flew across the country to elope, so naturally we were a little nervous about everything. She was excellent! Not only did she work with us on the time of the event (super flexible!), but her words were just so kind and meaningful. Our ceremony was perfect. We are so glad that we chose her to do our little ceremony. It will forever be the most magical day of my life.

Wow, Jennifer Nies gave us the best wedding ceremony, ever! And that is not just my opinion, it is the opinion of the 150 guests and I believe every one of them commented to us about the "vows" she did for us. I think the guests were all in tears starting with the opening prayer until the very end. They could understand every word she said and knew she was speaking to them about us, not just any couple. She let us choose every part of the ceremony from the choices she gave us. As we are 73 and 89 years old, we aren't going to raise a family or celebrate that many anniversaries nor do we have parents to thank, so our choices may be somewhat different from other's choices. Of course a couple could write their own vows but what she offers is so perfect, and it takes away all of that pressure. She is so professional, yet so friendly and helpful. I can't say enough good things in this small space.

My husband and I are from Kansas City, but we decided to get married in Portland. It seemed like a daunting task to have to find an officiant online. We consider ourselves lucky because Jennifer was an absolute pleasure to work with. She was always very responsive to our emails and had a wonderful process to get to know us better. Our ceremony was customized to fit us perfectly! Jennifer was even willing to hike to a waterfall to marry us! She is also VERY flexible. We were originally supposed to get married in March, however due to my husband developing a collapsed lung we could not make it to Portland. Jennifer was completely fine with rescheduling and worked with us to set up a new date. I cannot thank her enough for everything that she did! I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for an officiant for their wedding!

Jennifer was awesome throughout our entire elopement process and I would highly recommend her to anyone!

We started our process with a phone call (I was planning an out-of-state elopement) and right away I knew Jennifer was the right choice. She provided detailed information about the county and marriage license process. We also discussed the ceremony. My husband and I wanted to write our own vows. Jennifer explained her process is to collect review the vows from each of us about a month prior to the ceremony. This we would have them somewhat uniform and didn't run the risk of having one of us right a novel and the other just a paragraph - a brilliant process in my opinion.

Leading up to the wedding, Jennifer was always available and responsive and even helped us with some tips for writing vows and sent several sample readings and poetry for us to choose from. She sent a ceremony draft promptly and we requested a small change. The change was made quickly and she encouraged feedback. We absolutely LOVED the ceremony she delivered! Since we married outdoors at Wahclella Falls, she even researched the trail status and contacted the National Forest Service when some questions arose. She covered all the details!

The day of the wedding, the awesomeness continued. She went so far as to help my husband and I change into our wedding clothes once we hiked to the falls. Even our photographer kept commenting on how impressed she was with Jennifer and her willingness to help with everything.

Both my husband and I were so happy with our wedding day and Jennifer was a big part of that. Our day simply wouldn't have been the same without her!

Jennifer officiated our wedding with only a few months notice and did a wonderful job! Her voice projected well and was clearly heard. She was able to effectively step in and give good direction to our ceremony's procession. In one word, I would describe Jennifer as "professional".

My husband and I had troubles picking an officiant because neither of us are very religious and we wanted someone who was flexible enough to fit our style and vibe we wanted for our wedding ceremony. Jennifer was amazing. From our first meeting, to several back and forth emails drafting our ceremony, and to the day of the wedding, she was kind, professional, easy to work with, listened to us, and was a pleasure to work with.

Our ceremony was focused on us as a couple, our hopes for future, our love, and the love and appreciation we had for those that attended our wedding. We had about 40 guests, so it was an intimate and personal ceremony. Jennifer was great with giving suggestions and opinions and happy to add in personalized touches. My mom wanted to say some words welcoming my husband as part of our family and Jennifer reorganized the ceremony to add that in.

We had several guests ask us after the ceremony if Jennifer knew us personally before the wedding because her ceremony was as if she knew us for years. I thought that was the biggest compliment. She really was invested in who we were as a couple and the actual ceremony was flawless, loving, with some laughs in our vows, and sweet touches. It was really the perfect ceremony and there is not one thing I would change.

If you are looking for a kind, flexible, fun to work with officiant who will invest time in getting to you know as a couple and work with you to make your ceremony perfect, Jennifer is the officiant for you! Thank you Jennifer!

I knew after our first phone call that Jennifer was a perfect fit for our wedding. I had no idea what a wedding ceremony should include, but after talking with her and reading some of her writing, I knew that she would put together the perfect ceremony that reflected my groom and I.
Not only did she absolutely deliver the most beautiful and meaningful ceremony, she also checked in with us throughout the wedding planning process and made sure that we had what we needed to be ready for the big day!
All of our guests complimented us on Jennifer's writing and her warmth, and there isn't anyone that we would have rather had share that moment with us.

If you are looking for an Officiant, stop looking. Don't think about it. Email Jennifer. This review will still be here after you email here. I'll wait........OK done? Jennifer wrote an amazing ceremony that had our small wedding in tears. She is an amazing person to work with, Very well spoken and written. Very knowledgeable about different types of ceremonies and religions(or in our case, the lack there of). She was always incredibly responsive and had all the answers we needed as we wandered into the strange world of wedding planning, and made all the the boring "legal" stuff a snap. She was incredibly professional but very personable and fun to talk to while figuring out what we wanted in a ceremony. If I could give her more stars I would. For real, just email her and hope she is available on your date!

Jennifer was everything that we could have asked for and more when looking for an officiant on our wedding day. She took the time to individualize the ceremony so that it rang true to us and shared the story of our lives. Not only did she take the time to get to know us, she also helped us with multiple edits of our personal vows, and she was able to incorporate many different cultural traditions in the ceremony. I really recommend Jennifer Nies!

Jennifer was very easy to work with! She asked us questions about our relationship and preferences, wrote the ceremony, and let us review and edit it as we wished. Jennifer was amazing! She created a warm and welcoming ambiance for our ceremony. Jennifer Nies went above and beyond our high expectations for an officiant for our outdoor Portland Wedding. Jennifer was very professional and personable when meeting with her and emailing through all of the details. On the wedding day, she arrived and met with everyone involved ensuring that the process went very smoothly. She was able to conduct the entire ceremony personalized for us and included a special wine box ceremony. Many of our guests expressed how impressed they had been with our officiant. After the ceremony, Jennifer has been very helpful with all of the paperwork and processes necessary.

Jennifer was God sent to us! We had a bad experience with a previous person that scammed us out of $100. We found this out just a few weeks before our wedding. We found Jenifer and from the minute she called us we knew she was the one we wanted. She helped us even though we were last minute. She allowed us to customize our wedding. She was flexible during the entire event and always engaged in keeping close contact. Jennifer is very professional, down to earth, and intelligent. I met Jennifer at the Committed Portland bridal event and we talked as vendors and hit it off right away. I own a wedding venue, Bella Via, and we talked about working together professionally. I enjoyed talking with her so much that I later asked her to be the officiant for our wedding. I really enjoyed working with her. She had lots of great ideas, gave us direction when we needed it and gave us freedom to create our own vows as well. She asked us to write about Our Story and she took our words and wrote a beautiful story to include in our ceremony. She also allowed us to write our own vows but read them to us so we could repeat after her and recite them rather than having to memorize them ourselves. I appreciated her guidance and her ability to make our ceremony unique to us. I would highly recommend Jennifer at Officiant PDX!

Jennifer was the most wonderful officiant I can imagine! She responded very quickly to our inquiries in regards to an improptu wedding (for the guests). With helpful input from Jennifer, my husband and I were able to create our own ceremony that communicated the tone and thoughts that were special to us. Jennifer was terrific! She was professional yet fun and easy to work with. We liked her ready-made scripts and had no problem choosing one that fit us. Working with Jennifer was a pleasant experience. I waited until the last few weeks before the wedding to start my search for an officiant. My husband and I consulted with Jennifer for advice about our own ceremony. We were writing our own vows but has no idea where to start or what to include! Jennifer is not just an excellent officiant, she is extraordinary. She takes the time to really understand the couple that she is marrying so that she can make the ceremony highly customized and very personal. I had a very broad sense of what I wanted but no idea of the components. Jennifer explained a number of options in terms of structure, components of the ceremony and themes / messages. But the most amazing part is that Jennifer took our broad direction, our thoughts on marriage and wedding, our personal stories and thoughts about each other and wove those together into a bespoke ceremony that was a perfect reflection us. Jennifer was the single best part of our wedding -- everyone said the ceremony was the very best they'd ever attended.

Jennifer was amazing and very attentive to our needs the whole time we planned our wedding, even with the short notice we gave her (6-7 months). She provided constant feedback and was very receptive to what we wanted, needed, and more. When we didn't know where to start, she pushed us in the right direction. I wish we could get married every year and have her as our officiant (LOL). But in all seriousness, Jennifer is a kind, caring, professional who loves what she does and that shines through in her personality and in her work. Jennifer was amazing. My husband and I were not really sure what ceremony layout and features we wanted. We wanted something non religious and personal, but other then that we were pretty clueless. She provided us with so many resources so we could customize our ceremony exactly like we wanted. She gave us all these choices for readings and unity ceremonies and phrasing of our food, but also let us know we could cut out or include any thing we wanted. She then wrote a ceremony based on our choices. We elected to answer some questions and have her create a personalized section for us and decided not to hear it till the actual wedding ceremony. The ceremony was absolutely beautiful. Jennifer was professional and extremely timely and very eloquent. She also helped run the rehearsal and made sure everyone knew what they were doing. Overall, I would highly recommend Jennifer if you want a beautiful ceremony and someone who is professional and able to handle any stresses that arise on your special day.

My partner and I got married in NY on February 7th 2014. We were traveling from Miami to NY. Jennifer was amazing. She was always available to assist us with any questions or concerns regarding the ceremony. She provided us different options and ideas. She made herself available all day in case there were weather issues that can delay the ceremony. And the ceremony was spectacular. The way she articulated made it seem like she knew us for years. My wife Skylar and I got married earlier this year in NYC. Our circumstances were unique in that Skylar was living in London and I was living in New York. Skylar was coming to NY for about 10 days and during this time we would have the ceremony. Although we didn't want something big, we did want the day to be memorable. Through a recommendation, one of the first calls I made was to Jennifer. We had a Skype initial consultation which was great as we had a chance to see who would be performing the ceremony in person - well virtually anyway. From the start I felt at ease as Jennifer was very comfortable with all aspects of the ceremony and calmly guided me through all that required steps and details. I was grateful to connect with such a wonderfully knowledgeable and professional person during a time that surely could have been stressful. Jennifer was invaluable in providing clear ceremony options, recommending a top quality florist and suggesting great locations. We actually followed her recommendation and got married in Grand Central Station! Something that neither Skylar nor myself had even considered. The process of assembling our bespoke ceremony was very straightforward and she even accommodated late changes and made it a point to articulate details properly - (i.e. pronouncing the names of locations in the UK and people who participated in the ceremony acurately). The attention to detail was very impressive and the result was a wonderfully performed ceremony. It was certainly storybook as Jennifer's delivered the ceremony in a very warm, heartfelt and knowing way - so much so that many of the guests thought she was a personal friend of ours. We wholeheartedly recommend Jennifer for couples who are seeking an officiant. We can honestly say that the planning would have not been nearly as seamless and stress-free if it weren't for her professional services. You can feel assured that she will provide a top-notch service and make your special day even better.

Jennifer was the most professional and helpful officiant. We really could not have asked for a better person to officiate our small, last-minute ceremony. We decided to get married in New York City on a whim a month before a planned trip there. Jennifer helped walk us through all the details including thing we didn't even consider. She was easy to communicate with and kept us up to date on everything; she even took pictures of various sites in Central Park so we could "see" them beforehand.

I helped to plan a semi-surprise ceremony for two of my best friends. Jennifer was recommended to us and we could not have made a better choice. She was amazing! She helped us so much before, during and after the ceremony. Jennifer was fast to respond to our questions with very thorough answers. She helped us with all of the license details, directions, and even tips on what to do in Manhattan. She made planning the ceremony a delight.
