Jay is the best!

We feel so lucky to have found such a cool, down to earth DJ. He worked with us closely to understand our vibe and stayed true to what we wanted. He knows how to read the room / change up the pace to keep the dance floor going strong. He also helped us with the music/mic for our ceremony in the forest. He can really do it all. 10/10!!!

Dj jay is the best!

We loved DJ Jay and had the best music at our wedding! He is a joy to work with and brings the dance party! A true professional in the time leading up to the wedding and then a total blast day-of! Not cheesy emcee-ish-- just the right vibes. We loved him and 10/10 would recommend!!

Best DJ for sure

We found Jay through our venue and from the beginning we loved his communication, how through he was with questions and suggestions and he made our wedding day so wonderful. He was flexible with our mix of Brazilian and Romanian music requests, our starwars incorporation and most of all his flexibility when rain started pouring. Our guests absolutely loved his dj skills during cocktail and especially during dancing. He is DEF NOT those cheesy awkward djs and recommend him to whoever wants an amazing dj for their wedding or event.

The best dj we could have ever asked for

I can't say enough wonderful things about Jay and his team. We were initially supposed to work with JD Gluckstern from Jay's team who is a dream - extremely communicative, got our vision perfectly, and was ready to play the best dance DJ set of all time for our wedding. JD was so easy to talk to and work with we knew we were in good hands. Unfortunately, JD had an issue arise the week of our wedding preventing him from being able to make it and handled it in the most professional way ever - he sent us an extremely heartfelt message apologizing profusely about not being able to play for us, and had a solution already - Jay would be our DJ instead. We were upset to not work with JD who saw our vision so clearly, but it was apparent after 1 call with Jay that he would be exactly the same and deliver for us on our wedding day.

He did not only deliver, Jay went above and beyond - he had everyone on the dance floor the entire night DRENCHED in sweat. We were told by everyone we spoke to that it was the most they ever danced at a wedding. He arrived early to set up and get everything together and truly made it feel like a night out partying as opposed to the same old wedding music you hear at every wedding.

For our after-party, we wanted to keep the dancing going, but with the switch of locations our people needed to be eased back into it. Jay found the perfect song selection to get everyone back in the mood, one by one getting everyone back on the dance floor without having to say a thing over the microphone, and in no time the dance floor was packed again.

I cannot say enough good things about this team. Not only did they make us feel calm and heard for our wedding, the songs Jay played (and we know JD would have too!!!) had everyone from our grandparents to our friends to our young cousins on the dance floor the entire night. You will be so happy you booked them!!!!

Best DJ ever

Jay is hands down the best DJ! He was very pleasant to collaborate with leading up to the wedding––he was organized, took the time to understand our music preferences, and shared his expertise along the way. Most importantly, he kept the dance floor going all night and our guests are still talking about how stellar he was. Our European guests were especially impressed by how he got everyone on the dance floor from the get-go (as dancing typically starts later in Europe) until the very end. We also received compliments from our older guests on how he smoothly mixed older songs with newer ones––even our 90-year old grandma from Ecuador was dancing. We even saw family and friends who typically never put a foot on the dance floor dance. Jay did a stellar job of mixing our favorite songs with other songs that pleased the crowd, and handled (unexpected) incoming requests from guests with such ease. (He would not play any songs that did not fit within our guidelines without having the guest obtain our approval first, which we highly appreciated.)

We had a sparkler moment leading up to a bonfire and were worried that people would not make it back to the dance floor after grabbing a s’more. Jay is so talented that some people never made it to the bonfire and others (including me) ran (yes, we ran!) back to the dance floor because the music was so good.

We HIGHLY, STRONGLY, FULLY recommend Jay for any wedding or party, and hope that our paths will cross again in the future.

The Absolute Best!

There are not enough words to describe how awesome Jay McElfresh is. He is simply the best. The music was the most important part of the wedding to me, and working with Jay melted my worries away. Every discussion we had with Jay felt like catching up with a friend who was equally excited about the wedding. He read the room beautifully and was able to seamlessly weave together a playlist of our favorite songs, some oldie but goodies, and some more modern hits - the dancefloor was packed all night. Also, little did I know, Jay was in on a surprise my (now) husband had planned - a musical cue timed *perfectly* near the end of his vows. It stole the show!

Best Wedding DJ!

I attended my brother's wedding a few years ago and Jay was the DJ. He kept guests on the dancefloor the entire night and kept MCing to a minimum which I really enjoyed. When I got engaged and started planning my own wedding I knew exactly who to hire for the job. Jay was responsive, professional, and fun to work with. The music worksheet was extremely helpful in our planning process as well as the final call before the big day. Just as Jay kept the party going years ago at my brother's wedding, he did the same at ours. Look no further if you want a quality DJ to host your big day! Jay crushed wedding weekend!

Could not recommend Jay enough! Our guests could NOT stop raving about the music. Jay kept a NON-STOP dance party going and it seriously flew by so quickly. All night long, everyone from our college friends and the older aunties kept coming up to me, commenting on how great the music was. It truly appealed to guests of all ages.

Jay came through our wedding with an awesome set up and great tunes that really set the vibe for the whole night. Best dj ever

Jay really brought the jams on our wedding day. I cannot express how many people came up to us to say that this was the best music ever at a wedding and people danced all night long. Perfect music for every part of our day

We reached out to Jay McElfresh Events on the recommendation of our venue coordinator, and I’m so glad we did. We ended up working with Cousin Cole, who was able to translate our personal music tastes (more eclectic/alternative, aka music you can’t dance to) into something that would suit a wedding and a broad range of guests. The questionnaire he had us put together really helped us articulate both the general vibe of the different parts of the night, and allowed us to pick songs for specific moments. So many people came up to us during the reception to say that the music was amazing, and I saw people dancing who I didn’t expect to see on the floor at all. He definitely was able to read the crowd and adjust the music according to what was getting people moving. I’m so glad we were able to rely on him to put together amazing music for all parts of the event (prelude, ceremony, dinner, reception, etc.) - we honestly had to do very little, for which I was super grateful.

Made Our Whole Night!

Hiring Jay as our wedding DJ was by far the best decision we made! He was so responsive and thorough about understanding our taste in music and the vibe we were going for. He had 2 separate calls with us and sent us a comprehensive music worksheet so he could be as aligned with us as possible. We wanted everyone to be on the dancefloor all night and Jay. Did. Not. Disappoint! The amount of people that have reached out to us specifically praising Jay is crazy! Except that it's not because he did that good of a job - I even noticed one or two times where he seamlessly transitioned out of a song that he could tell people weren't feeling as much into a new song that pumped everyone up! We didn't want any of the typical "cheesy" songs to be played and Jay was on the same page as us - he even perfectly delivered on a perhaps odd request that we had a few pop-punk rock songs of his choosing played at our after party. When he played those songs, the whole dancefloor went wild. It's something I'll never forget! Thank you again so much, Jay, for making our night truly perfect and unforgettable!

Loved working with Cousin Cole

We had an awesome experience working with DJ Cousin Cole (referred to us by Jay McElfresh). Our initial plan was to set up a few Spotify playlists ourselves, and we were so glad we changed our minds and decided to hire Cole. He was super professional throughout the planning process, and totally got our music taste and the vibe we were going for. We had a rooftop brunch wedding in the rain, and Cole totally rolled with the punches and made sure we had a great party. Highly recommend!

DJ Jay was phenomenal, and we'd highly recommend him to anyone looking for an awesome wedding DJ/MC. Epic Dance Party!

We had a fantastic experience with Jay as our DJ and would highly recommend booking him. From our initial intro call to our final planning call, Jay was friendly, professional, easygoing, and completely focused on understanding the vibe we wanted for each part of our wedding day. He seamlessly transitioned from ceremony to cocktail hour to dinner to dancing, and was a fantastic low-key MC for speeches and other announcements. Amazing Night!

We initially started working with Jay for our wedding back in 2020, which was postponed due to covid-19. You owe it to yourself to work with Jay

We interviewed a lot of DJs for our wedding and Jay really stood out from the rest. He was so accommodating, is incredibly talented, and not the least bit cheesy like some other wedding DJs can be. We ended up having to cancel our wedding due to COVID, but know for sure we will be calling Jay in the future.

Best Wedding DJ EVER!

DJ McElfresh did an amazing job at our wedding in late October 2019 at the Flander’s Hotel in Ocean City, New Jersey. Jay was efficient and excellent in his organization and communication leading up to the big day, as well as providing so many helpful suggestions throughout the planning of our reception. Not to mention, he was willing to travel over 100 miles just to host our wedding reception. DJ McElfresh did an incredible job on the night of our wedding! Jay had everyone up on the dance floor and managed to accommodate for our preferred traditions. The best day ever!

Our wedding was the best day of our lives and the music was a huge part of it. I started planning our wedding while living on the other side of the world, but Jay was super flexible with his time to make sure we could chat ahead of time, which I greatly appreciated. As the wedding neared, we filled out a music questionnaire and had a call to go over requests, do not plays, the timeline of the day and how to pronounce everyone’s names. He asked what artists my now husband and I like to get a feel for our day. The direction I gave him was anything we can dance too, top 40 and top 40 when I was in college - so, pretty vague. Jay absolutely crushed it all night! The dance floor was packed for hours, each song being better than the next. My one friend said she couldn’t even eat dinner because even the music during the dinner session was too good. People commented all throughout the night that they were having the best time on the dance floor and were still getting texts from people saying how much fun they had. The best man gave a toast that referenced a song and after our last song was played, the usual one more song chant started. Jay played the song mentioned and the crowd went wild. We did not plan that at all and it was absolutely the perfect way to end the night. Long review short, you need Jay at your wedding - his ability to get and keep the party going has to be unmatched and he’s extremely easy to work with and be around. We cannot thank Jay enough for making our night the best ever!

Still thinking about how good the music was!

DJ Jay McElfresh made our wedding party a non-stop party! We hired him after hearing him at a friend’s wedding, even though our tastes differ greatly. We were blown away by his ability to keep the energy of the wedding so high and read the crowd so well. He was able to MC the event perfectly without being too overbearing.I also really appreciated Jay taking the time to speak to us before the wedding to make sure he knew how to pronounce the names of everyone in the wedding party. Everyone told me they loved the music and asked if we gave him a playlist. The truth was, we met with Jay 1 time and he seemed to just “get” us. He gave us a worksheet to fill out and we gave a few favorite artists, but from that he crafted an incredible playlist. One guest also told us “I could really hear everything, the sound equipment was incredible.” I cannot express enough how amazing and talented he is!! Everyone who has Jay DJ their event is extremely lucky and hiring the best.

The most flawless part of the wedding

Jay was unavailable the day of our wedding so he set us up with another of his DJs, Cousin Cole, and we had a perfect experience with Cole. Super easy to work with leading up to the day of, despite me knowing next to nothing about music. He incorporated our suggestions when we had them, but was happy to pitch ideas when we didn't. We were too busy before the wedding to check in at all, and yet everything about the music was completely flawless, and we were getting compliments on the music selection all night.

Our Guests Can't Stop Talking about the Music

Music was an important aspect of our wedding for us and Jay truly made it a perfect night of music, dancing, and fun! Everyone kept talking about how awesome our DJ was and we could not have agreed more!

Jay met with us and got an understanding of what we wanted and then was also so attentive to what our guests were feeling that night. Guests of all ages were up on the dance floor! There were so may sing-a-longs on the dance floor and some crowd surfing to the Cranberries sprinkled in haha!!! My husband and I didn't leave the dance floor once! If you don't want your average cheesy MC type wedding and just want to have fun with your friends and family, Jay is the way to go!

Smartest decision of our wedding

Wow. WHERE TO BEGIN. I worked two weddings with Jay in Brooklyn (I'm a wedding photographer) and knew he was going to be my DJ before I was even engaged. I even asked him DURING the first wedding (again, before I was engaged) if he would travel to Philadelphia to DJ my future wedding.

Trust me when I say this-Jay is the best. Stop reading reviews and just book him!!! I've only ever worked with one DJ that even comes close to being as good as Jay.

Leading up to the wedding he was hilarious, professional, honest and just made the experience so easy. Throughout the wedding, I kept saying "how did he do that?! he's so good!!!" when he would transition from one song to another that in my mind wouldn't necessarily make sense but, when he did it, it was perfect. There wasn't a single weird transition or awkward silence, and there was definitely no corny MC-ing. All our guests loved him. I'm without a doubt going to continue to recommend him to my couples whenever I get the chance.

Super Cool DJ Great Experience

We worked with DJ Mikey Palms specifically and it was a wonderful experience. We really wanted to make sure that people had a good time and just enjoyed themselves. That definitely happened. He made sure the dance floor stayed packed and that the vibe stayed upbeat and lively.

He also worked with us really closely in making the playlist and made sure that every aspect of the wedding, not just the reception, was handled perfectly. It was amazing. It was great working with Mikey and I highly recommend him and DJ McElfresh's services/

Best DJ Ever!

We hired Jay for our recent wedding in Brooklyn and it was the best decision ever! From our very first consultation, Jay totally got our vibe and we knew we were in good hands. He provided us with a really helpful wedding worksheet and went over it with us in detail prior to the wedding to make sure we were on the same page.

Fast forward to the night of our wedding and OMG it was just a non-stop dance party!! Jay completely knocked it out of the park! I couldn’t feel my feet for the next 2 days I was dancing so much! Jay was also an awesome emcee - getting everyone’s attention when necessary and making sure we stuck to our timeline without being cheesy or over the top. All our guests raved about how awesome he was as well!

If you want your wedding to be a non stop dance party like we did, you’ve found your guy!

Simply The Best. Look No Further!

Stop looking for a DJ for your wedding. You found him. It's Jay McElfresh. And with a dope name like that, who could compete?!

My husband and I can't say enough good things about Jay. Long story short - he #SLAYED! He is everything you want in a DJ - he listens to your "do not play list", he pulls from the playlist/list of songs that he asks that you curate for him during the planning phase, and he takes the time to get to know you and your spouse. BONUS -He is super stylish and sounds smooth as hell on the mic (the opposite of many DJ who are over-the-top, corny and literally sound like auctioneers on the mic).

From the very beginning we knew Jay was our guy. He took the time to chat with my husband and I about our expectations, taste in music, and overall vision. He also had us complete a Music Worksheet which was super helpful to iron out all the details like wedding party announcements, couple's first dance, parent dances, toasts, and most importantly to detail the songs we would love to hear/genres we love, and to document the songs that would make us run from the dance floor for the "do not play list".

On top of everything, he made sure he had our timeline handy and even arrived a couple hours early to help our Violinist set up for our ceremony and performed a sound check with both her and our Officiant. He truly went above and beyond!

Jay is truly an expert in what he does, a real professional and overall cool dude. You will love working with him and your guests will be out on the dance floor all night! Book him :)

Jay is the best!

Jay DJ'd our wedding last weekend in CT and was the BEST.
From our first communication, he was SO easy and helpful to work with. We had an in-person meeting many months before the wedding and, filled out a questionnaire a few weeks before the wedding to finalize our music selection, and then did a final call with Jay to go over the details. He is super organized and professional - a big relief to a busy bride!
My main concern in the weeks leading up to the wedding was the order of the reception (when to do speeches, when to cut cake, when to do dances?!) and Jay really, really helped me finalize the timeline. He is a real pro with tons of experience.
On the day of, he was fun, professional, and flexible. His emceeing skills are also excellent and everything went according to schedule! Most importantly, everyone had so much fun and the dance floor was crowded all night long.
I just have to think up another event to be able to book Jay again...

Best DJ ever

As soon as we started wedding planning we knew who we wanted to be our DJ. Jay had done my sister’s wedding and the dance floor was on fire all night without any cheesiness. We couldn’t have been happier with our choice! Although we love music we were unsure of what we wanted played to keep everyone engaged but Jay was able to help us through it and calm down any nerves we had about it. All night Jay read the crowd and kept the party going. Many of our guest could not stop telling us how much of a blast our dance floor was. I would highly recommend Jay to anyone looking for an awesome music experience at their wedding without the cheesy “wedding dj”.

A pleasure to work with and an excellent DJ

We couldn't be happier with our choice of Jay as our wedding DJ. We spent a lot of time researching and interviewing DJs over several months. It was super important to us to find someone who had good taste, was flexible with our needs, who cared about making our experience personal, and who wasn't over-the-top with their style. When we got off our first phone call with Jay, we felt immediately comfortable and confident we found the right person. And our actual experience with Jay fulfilled all of those initial impressions. Jay was very responsive, was very accommodating our many requests (even when they changed last minute), and provided great feedback throughout our planning process. My biggest desire was to have a DJ set that kept everyone on the dance floor the whole night and, with a mixed culture and multi-generational wedding, that wasn't necessarily an easy task. But through a lot of collaborative planning, Jay expertly executed the setlist to where the dance floor was absolutely packed and energized the entire night. So many people told us afterwards how much they enjoyed the music and how it was one of the best dance floors they'd ever experienced. My completely soaked-through shirt was the ultimate testament to how much fun we had. Would definitely recommend and use Jay again.

Best. Dj. Ever.

My husband and I decided early on that music was one of the most important things to us about our wedding day and because we're both very particular about the kind of music we like (and hate), we assumed that finding the right DJ would be an arduous process. Jay was the first person we met with when beginning our search and we liked him and trusted him so much that we hired him immediately before even meeting with anyone else. He came into the first meeting with an air of competence that he carried throughout the entire planning process up until the last song. He listened to and genuinely cared about our song requests and asked all of the right questions to extrapolate our list into hours of music that we and our guests loved and danced to all night. Maybe even more importantly, he really, truly paid attention to the music we didn't want played and then created a list of similar artists to ask about ahead of time to see whether they would also be off limits, some which we hadn't even thought of but definitely would not have liked. He showed up prepared and professional but ready for a party and kept the entire ceremony and reception on perfect pace. His ability to feel out the crowd and make the necessary adjustments to keep people dancing allowed us to relax and enjoy the party without having to worry whether people were having a good time. One of our guests even came up to us during the reception and told us that ours was the best wedding playlist he had ever heard. Another person was so impressed with him that they asked us if we thought he'd consider flying to North Carolina for their wedding. My husband and I woke up the next morning with blisters on our feet and my wedding dress broken from dancing so hard. To be short, Jay was amazing. He was everything we were looking for and then some. If you're looking for the kind of party that leaves your guests telling you their muscles are sore the next day from so much dancing, HIRE HIM.

Want a great party? Jay's your guy

Our biggest wish for our wedding was having an amazing party, and Jay was so key in bringing that to life. He rocked it big time!

Not only did he get and keep the dance floor jamming into the wee hours, Jay worked directly with the venue for both preparation and on the day set up to ensure everything was in place for all the audio needs, which were many and varied: an outside ceremony, a different outdoor spot for the cocktails, indoor upstairs for dinner and then indoor downstairs for the partying!

Jay also worked with the venue contacts on the night to keep the timeline flowing, and make sure everything was rolling as it should. He was super thorough in his prep and briefing with us to ensure we had everything we wanted and didn’t have to worry about anything on the day.

Our venue thought Jay was such a great DJ — and so professional and pleasant to work with — that they added him to their list of preferred vendors.

Could not recommend Jay more!!!

The best dj

Amazing DJ!

Jay was an absolutely incredible DJ! He was extremely professional and knew exactly what was needed to get the party started and keep it going. He helped us coordinate live music for our ceremony and did live mixing during our reception. He brought microphones for a musical tribute and our speeches and kept everything working smoothly. And his music was SO FUN. It catered to every age group and we got so many compliments. 10/10 would recommend!!!

Just kept dancing!

Jay was busy on our wedding day, so he recommended one of his other DJs Marcus for our day. Marcus was great to work with! He was very responsive and flexible—we had hired separate musicians for the ceremony and didn't need him until later in the evening, but Marcus still offered to show up early day of the wedding to set up and to meet the other vendors. He was very attentive to our song requests during the planning process and made sure that every detail and timeline was accounted for. The night of, he was able to adjust the playlist depending on which groups were on the dance floor, which kept the party going and people dancing! Would definitely recommend Marcus and Jay for others looking to hire professional DJs!

Our Best Wedding Vendor

Jay was by far our best vendor decision. Truly. He completely understood what we were looking for in a DJ even though WE didn't even know what we were looking for. He was so easy to work with, so prompt and professional while being light-hearted and so fun - he's a highlight of our wedding planning experience and wedding day memories. He laid things out for us so clearly and simply - and improvised effortlessly when my mom came through with an unexpected bouquet to toss at the wedding. My maid of honor and husbands best man both commented on how at ease they felt when he explained to them how the announcing and timing of the speeches would go, mic, etc. He played an amazing mix of music and was able to accommodate a huge range of genres - we had requests from the Postal Service, to Stevie Wonder, to the Spice Girls.

To start, I had naively submitted my e-mail at a wedding show and was bombarded by various large-scale entertainment companies. To me, those big companies came off more like used car salesman and sports announcers. With every phone call and e-mail we "won" a new part of a package. I was drained and discouraged I would find a DJ that felt like "us" so a DJ had quickly fell to the bottom of our priority list.

That was until we contacted our photographer (another phenomenal vendor!) for a recommendation to which she raved about Jay. He was super flexible in setting up a phone meeting. After my initial worries with those big companies, I rattled off a list of questions about introductions and announcements to which he said, "No worries, it won't be like sports announcing or anything like that." My husband and I were sold. He completely understood what we were looking for. With every phone call and e-mail, it felt like we were working with a friend. We never felt pressured or pushed. Such a pleasant, easy-to-work with guy. He just gets it.

Our friends and family still rave about the music. They were so happy to hear their song recommendations played. They've commented Jay is exactly who they want to DJ their weddings so we hope we get to dance to his DJ'ing in the future! My favorite part of our wedding video is seeing our friends and family in pure bliss on the dance floor - even my Dad was dancing all night - who was fresh off a knee replacement surgery!

Jay, we cannot thank you enough for giving us and our wedding guests such fun memories to look back on. We truly cherish the laughs and embarrassing moves we shared on the dance floor with our loved ones - they are our favorite memories of our day.

Jay is the absolute best, HIRE HIM!

When we got engaged, one of the first things we did was book Jay for our wedding. He DJ'd my brothers wedding in 2013 and he was absolutely amazing. There was no question, no searching for anyone else - it was Jay or no one! And naturally, Jay did not disappoint for our wedding. Jay is a class act. He's not a hype man and doesn't put on a show distracting from the actual event (like many Long Island DJ's we have experienced in the past). He is passionate about making your wedding the best dance party ever. We gave Jay an extensive do-not-play list which he navigated around and avoided beautifully. He also deviated from our playlist, playing songs that we LOVE that we never thought to put on our list! Jay was also so kind and respectful to our guests and family members. He does an incredible job of managing expectations of family members while still respecting the couples wishes. My brother and his wife also had a large do-not-play list for their wedding and I remember as a spry 23-year-old, I requested that Jay play Teach Me How to Dougie...Jay politely and gently declined my request knowing that my brother and sister-in-law would probably be mortified to hear that song. One of my favorite memories from our wedding was singing at the top of our lungs to Mr. Brightside - at the perfect moment, Jay dropped the music so we just heard the dance floor sing out "PRICE I PAY". It was so powerful and so so cool. It truly felt like we had the most epic dance party when we turned around and noticed Jay rocking out along with us. The night of our wedding, we last minute decided to extend the evening by an hour because our speeches ran very long. Unlike some of our other vendors who money-grubbed us about extending, demanding the balance up front (which is actually the LAST thing you want to deal with on your wedding day), Jay was totally cool with it. He said he didn't want to bring up cost now, that its something that could be settled after the fact but that there would be an additional charge for extending. CLASS. ACT. That's all we needed to know and we went on to enjoy the rest of the evening. We appreciated that so much. Also, in his contract, he had a note about how much it would be to extend so we knew what we were getting into ahead of time. Jay was able to send us a set list of all the songs played at our wedding which is the COOLEST. We can relive the night song by song. Also, did the math, I danced for 41 songs straight!! One of my other brothers got married three months after us and he also booked Jay for his wedding. Jay is 3 FOR 3! My brothers wedding was such a blast. And it was so interesting to see how Jay adapted to another couples' playlist and do not playlist while still creating an amazing dance party. Don't look elsewhere. Jay is the man. Hire him for your wedding/event. You will not regret it!!

The very best

Jay is hands down the best DJ and we are so lucky he was at our wedding. From the first introductory phone call to our meeting in person in NYC, and to the wedding day itself in Vermont, he listened closely to our wishes and absolutely delivered. V+G at Blue Hill at Stone Barns

Jay was the perfect DJ to work with from start to finish. From the moment we first met with him to review our wedding timeline and review our music choices, he made us and those involved in the ceremony feel confident and excited for the big day. He totally understood our music choices and was able to play everything from classic Billie Holiday to David Bowie to The Cranberries and everything in between. He was very aware of timing and did an excellent job pacing the reception from the toasts to the first dance to party time. He kept our crowd dancing until midnight and they ranged in age from 26 to 86-- no one left early!

Jay did an amazing job and had everyone dancing at our wedding, from kids to grandparents, and most especially our friends. Music is very important to us and we got compliments on the music from many of our guests. He was effective and professional as an emcee, he kept the event to schedule and people knew what to expect. There was a minor timing issue with our dessert and he quckly adapted the schedule, everything flowed perfectly and our guests were none the wiser. He was friendly and easy to work with from our first call to our last song. He easily figured out our musical taste with little effort from us, and he did a great job reading the room. We were so glad we had Marcus Ho (one of the DJs on Jay’s roster) at our wedding! The music was on-point for the whole event. Marcus just seemed to have an instinct for what people would want to hear, and even though it was a smaller wedding, the dance floor was packed the entire night. We got a ton of compliments about how much _fun_ our wedding was, and I give Marcus all the credit for that. He was a great MC as well, he got the crowd’s attention without overdoing it. It was also incredibly easy to work with Marcus before the event - he kept up with a barrage of last-minute changes and additions (including the night before) and flawlessly pronounced a bunch of unusual names.

My husband and I knew finding a DJ to fit our eclectic tastes was going to be a task. (And so help me if you even mention “Shout” or “YMCA”) But as soon as I received Jay’s intro email, I knew we had found our guy. He immediately put me at ease and assured me that he would work closely with us to craft a list that reflected our personalities, and that the Village People would stay far away from his playlist.
At our first meeting, Jay couldn’t have been nicer; we were immediately comfortable with him. As soon as we left, my husband looked at me and said, “Well, he’s hired.”
Leading up to the wedding, Jay worked with us to create exactly what we wanted for our day. He was readily available if we had any questions, always quick to respond, and had great suggestions if we were unsure about anything.
On the day of our wedding, Jay was punctual, prepared, and professional. Not to mention, he’s a really snazzy dresser!
The ceremony was flawless. Cocktail hour was a fun mélange of all our favorites that had me running to find my husband and going “OMG do you hear that?!” But Jay’s talents were best exemplified on the dance floor.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and our wedding photos from the dancing portion of the evening really say it all. Somehow, Jay managed to touch on all of our favorite songs, yet the flow never felt disjointed or jarring. Each song transitioned so smoothly into the next; as soon as I was ready to sit one out, the next song would come on and I would yell out “I LOVE THIS SONG” and get right back up. People came up to me all evening to compliment me on the music alone.
Throughout the evening, Jay kept us on time with the order of events without every feeling pushy. He was never showman-y and never once felt like a typical “wedding DJ.”
You really can’t have a great wedding without a great DJ. And not only is Jay a fantastic DJ, but he’s a really good human being. Our wedding day wouldn’t have been the same without him!

Jay was a blast! He expertly combined our favorite songs with a good helping of classics, which kept the party going and the dance floor full nearly the entire night. He was super professional and answered all our questions, made every accommodation one could ask for, and had great advice when it came to selecting music for our reception. And even though we kept dancing all night, I heard absolutely zero complaints (ZERO!) from the older folks at the wedding about the music being too loud or crazy. Music was of the utmost importance to my husband and I for our wedding day. We wanted to ensure that our guests would be dancing the night away. Jay helped us achieve just that! His pricing was reasonable and accommodating to services required. He was so attentive to our needs, from the initial consultation, to a detailed phone discussion planning all the special elements and reviewing the music worksheet he had us fill out, to the day of execution. The "DJ had us falling in love!" All our special songs were played and he truly included music that honored and us as a couple and our families, as my husband is from Ghana and Jay was able to seamlessly blend our favorite African jams with our requested pop and hip hop favorites. Jay has the utmost professional and comfortable demeanor, there was no cheesy or over the top announcements, it was classy and sophisticated yet fun! DJ Mikey Palms was fantastic! He is an all around class act and a very good listener. We met with him and spoke on the phone several times prior to the wedding; Mikey was prompt, professional and extremely knowledgable. My husband and I wanted a DJ that would focus on the music, our guests and us. Our wedding ceremony was at the venue and DJ Mikey was there to provide music for our guests arriving as well as our ceremony music. Mikey played all the songs we requested and built a strong playlist around all of them. The reception was incredible....everyone was dancing up until the last moments of the last song!
We have had several family and friends ask about Mikey and we strongly recommend him for any event.

From our first call with Jay, we knew he was going to be our DJ. My wife and I hung up the phone, looked at each other, and both said “I’m good!”. Jay has an ease about what he does and a love for what he does that transcended right through our phone conversations. He was there every step of the way for us, even obliged our request to mash up some songs for a special first dance. He did not hesitate and was happy to listen to our feedback and edits.

On the day of, the only time we were off the dance floor was when we broke for buffet service, the rest of the day we were dancing our faces off and having the time of our lives.

Jay was careful to listen to our requests on how friends and family were to be introduced and how we invisioned an MC for our big day. He was spot on in every way, never missing a cue.

Lastly, the music. We completed our homework assignment and we were buzzing with excitement after our final call with Jay. He felt exactly what our vision was and was ready to deliver, all while ready to get a sense for the room on the day of. By the end, our faces were nearly melted off and our feet were sore. We had so much fun and this sentiment continues to be echoed by guests at our wedding.

We had an absolute blast and the process of working together was easy. We owe so much of this to Jay.

We initially met with Jay because we liked the mixes he has on his website - the late 80's, early 90's are our jam. We did not want a cheesy MC with flashing lights, disco balls, or any gimmicks – we wanted good music and we wanted people to dance. From the moment Jay walked into our first meeting and said "You don't even have to tell me not to play the Chicken dance, that's already understood," we knew he got our vibe.

Jay is very organized and professional. It is clear he does weddings, not just as a side gig, but for a living. We had one initial meeting, filled out his simple (but extensive) form, and had a follow up call right before our wedding – and we were left with full confidence that he would deliver what we wanted on wedding day.

We had a good idea of the type of music we wanted during the wedding and Jay took our song list and built on it perfectly. From guest arrival, thru ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and then dancing – everything was exactly what we wanted.

Jay played a key role in making sure the event went smoothly and everything happened on schedule, without making any stereotypical annoying MC announcements. His MC'ing was tasteful and helpful and very low key, which is what we were looking for. Most importantly, the dance floor was full all night long. Our friends and family loved dancing and have been raving about how much fun they had for the last few weeks. At our first meeting, Jay stressed the importance of his job to our wedding day by saying, "you can recover from bad chicken, you can't recover from bad music."

Jay is an amazing wedding DJ! From the first conversation we had over the phone, Jay was friendly, professional, and confident. He assured us that our dance floor would be packed the whole night, and he definitely delivered that and more.

My wife and I both have really strong opinions when it comes to wedding music, and very different tastes. Jay was super helpful and accommodating when it came to handling our different musical preferences.

On the day of the event, Jay was able to provide audio equipment for our ceremony and he partnered with a live musician we hired to play our cocktail hour.

When it came to the party, Jay crushed it! He knew exactly what to play to keep both older and younger crowds dancing all night! We had friends come up to us saying, "Your DJ is scratching records! That's awesome!" It was. It was awesome.

Where do I even begin? My husband and I met Jay and everything just made sense. He was interested in what we had to say and gave us plenty of great ideas to get us to see what our wedding day would look like. Jay responded quickly and was extremely flexible the entire time. I bombarded him with emails and he answered wah one of them. I changed our meet up destination maybe a million and one times and he didn’t bat an eye. Most importantly, he gave us one helluva night we’ll never forget. I barely ate dinner or spoke to friends or family because I danced all night. My family and friends said they had a blast. I can’t begin to even thank Jay for the amazing time. The one thing my husband and I regret is not taking a photo with him! Have Jay be part of your big day, your biggest regret would be not having him there!!

Jay was AMAZING to work with, from the very first time I reached out via email to the very last note of the final song at our wedding. My now-husband and I had the best time and Jay's music and DJ style was a huge part of the joy we felt all night long. Our friends and family are still talking about the music and what a fun vibe the whole night had (and a few have asked for his contact info for their own events)!

Jay was such a pleasure to work with and he really listened to what we said when it came to music and tone, and absolutely crushed it. We had a couple of phone calls with him throughout the process to talk through specifics and what we were looking for, and then completed a worksheet he sent with requests, things not to play, etc. He was even open to us putting together a Spotify playlist for him with examples of the kind of music we liked, and he really took everything we included into consideration.

We weren't interested in a typical wedding—we really wanted a giant, awesome dance party with our friends and family, and Jay 100000% delivered. We could not have asked for a cooler, more thoughtful person to handle the music.

Jay was recommended to us by our photographer for our October 2017 wedding, and we are very thankful for that recommendation! As requested, Jay did none of the "dj voice" kind of stuff. His introductions and addressing guests when needed, for things like speeches, was totally chill and appropriate. And then when it came time for dancing it just seemed like the dance floor itself lit up with awesome music, and we never heard him again - literally just amazing track after track. There was no goading people onto the dance floor, and it wasn’t needed as the dance floor was packed! The night started with fun older music, such as “Twisting the Night Away”, transitioning to higher energy songs over the course of the night until the end had my father, a 6’4” financial adviser, almost moshing to “My Own Worst Enemy”. Seriously. Also, not ONE of the tired group dances were played, proving that you can have an amazing wedding without the YMCA or Electric Slide. We had SO much fun at our wedding, my toes were bruised for days with how much we were dancing! Jay really made the night one to remember.

We booked Jay to DJ at our Wedding at Bacchus on Atlantic Avenue in August. From our first contact Jay was extremely responsive and helpful making us feel immediately that we were in safe hands. Being a DJ/Producer the music was such an important part of the event for me and getting a balance that would cater to everyones tastes seemed liked an impossible task! Jay took my extremely eclectic and some what chaotic musical map and worked it into a seamless 4 hour DJ performance that had everyone young and old dancing from beginning to end. People were enjoying the music so much that we ended up extending the party for an additional hour and practically had to eject our party from the venue! Many of our guests commented saying that Jay had delivered the best wedding DJ performance they had ever experienced and we can honestly say that we whole heartedly agree. Jay was extremely friendly and professional throughout and we will be recommending him to him everyone we know looking for a DJ in NYC.

Jay was the best! He got every single person at my wedding on the dance floor breaking it down and I was constantly told by everyone in the crowd how great the music was. Fantastic. Jay was utterly fantastic. At our wedding, he covered the ceremony, assisted with the performer at our cocktail hour, led introductions and covered the dinner & reception. He was one of the best parts of our wedding and a true hit with our guests. Jay asked all the right questions, and we found his questionnaire extremely helpful in trying to figure out the artists and genres we wanted to hear at our wedding. He was great on the spot with any alterations in scheduling and in taking requests. He is perhaps best at reading the room and ensuring the dance floor was packed & active all night. My only regret is that the reception wasn’t longer. I would wholeheartedly recommend him for anyone looking to hire a DJ in any scenario, and look forward to working with him again in the near future. Jay was the best wedding DJ! We always thought we would have a band at our wedding, but ultimately our venue and space just couldn't fit a band comfortably, so we started the hunt for a DJ. We wanted someone that wasn't your typical, cheesy wedding DJ - someone that fit in with our Brooklyn vibe. Jay was the perfect choice. He was so easy to work with, listened to everything we wanted, and delivered exactly the evening we dreamed of. He's a true professional, MCing the night flawlessly, and you could tell he really loves what he does. I can't rave enough about Jay. We had a smaller-sized wedding (about 60 people) and we weren't sure if we even wanted to invest in a DJ. However, from the very first phone call we had with him, we knew he would be the best decision we ever made for this wedding. He was so warm, easy to work with, attentive, and he just GOT us. And on the day of our wedding, he kept us all on the dance floor nonstop. Seriously, people keep telling me (the bride), "You never stopped dancing!" and I could only respond that I was waiting for a song that I wouldn't mind stepping away from - but it NEVER HAPPENED. Everything he played was so fun that I and the majority of our guests couldn't pull ourselves away from the dance floor. People are still raving about how good our music was. I wish we could get married again just to have Jay DJ another party for us.
Seriously. Best decision we made.

Jay was one of the first vendors we booked for the wedding and we could not have been happier with our decision. Music was super important to us so we knew that we needed to find a DJ who was going to get the vibe we were going for, and someone who would keep the energy up without being cheesy. We also had the added component of needing to please family with spanish-language music. Before booking Jay, we reached out to a few couples who had worked with him in the past and we understood right away that Jay was going to be the best. There's a reason why he only gets 5 star reviews here! Jay goes above and beyond. He is a skillful DJ who kept everyone on the dance floor all night - like literally, everyone (ages 2 - 91); he masterfully played music from different periods and genres; and he is extremely organized and thoughtful in a way you wouldn't necessarily assume your wedding DJ would be. We particularly appreciated that Jay wanted to meet with us in person ahead of the wedding to go through our music worksheet and the run of the day. We happened to have a band for our ceremony, but Jay made sure to let us know that he would be there ready with our ceremony music to serve as a back up in case something happened with the band. Jay also brought up points that we hadn't thought of, and that our coordinator hadn't even brought up with us, so we were especially thankful for his knowledge and experience. We would give Jay the highest recommendation possible and can only hope to have the opportunity to work with him again. From the moment we met Jay over Skype, we knew we had found our DJ. Our biggest fear was hiring a wedding DJ who got "mic happy" making the reception feel more "produced" rather than warm and welcoming - it took one phone call to know we were in perfect hands. Jay is awesomely laid back, unbelievably helpful, and has impeccable taste in music. He took a look at our must plays and overall musical preferences and helped us create a wedding soundtrack that our guests are still talking about! Jay is amazing. First and foremost, he is the perfect DJ. He will make sure the dance floor is full from beginning to end, all the while keeping your tastes in mind. Songs are not obnoxiously cut off just when people are getting into and they don't run on too long when the hype dies down. Several people came up to me and told me what an amazing dance party the wedding was. Jay's MC services were also professional and kept the night moving along.

And on top of that, Jay is an all-star good guy. He is responsive, easy going and professional. From the moment we met and chatted 18 months ago, he was always available and provided us great context and advice throughout the whole process.

With the bar set high for our DJ, we spent months searching. We didn’t want a typical wedding DJ hogging the mic and playing top 40. When we met Jay we could tell he had a true love of music, a passion for what he does and a high level of professionalism. Jay McElfresh was by far our favorite vendor! He exceeded our expectations and made our 4th of July wedding the celebration of a lifetime! Jay did a particularly fantastic job of keeping people on the dance floor. It was a beautiful thing to see our guests of all ages dancing together all night. If you're looking for an incredible, cool DJ who keeps your guests dancing all night - look no further - Jay is your guy. First- he's super nice and not a typical wedding DJ personality. He's not there to be hype man or throw in a bunch of strobe lights...he's there to curate music that your guests will want to dance to and he pays attention to the crowd. We got married on a Sunday, and it felt like a Saturday night party with everyone dancing all night.
I also was beyond impressed by how much he wants to get to know all of his couples - he goes the extra mile to meet you, do conference calls and more. He gives you a wedding spreadsheet that keeps everything organized and he'll make recommendations on things that you probably didn't even think of - from the bridal party entrances to cutting out potentially awkward moments like the bouquet toss and more. He helps cut your dance songs so that there's no long awkward moments. He's got style, comes well dressed and is just super fun!

Hiring Jay is the best decision you can make for your wedding. He went above and beyond in every way, much more than other DJs do: conference calls, detailed emails, attentiveness to our desires and requests, clear and speedy follow ups, kindness and genuine thoughtfulness on the day of the wedding, and of course, fantastic music :) The dance floor was more packed than at any wedding I've ever attended, and Jay made our wedding the best night of our lives.

My fiance' and I are huge music lovers, have a large and eclectic record collection that we have amassed while being together and go to a ton of shows and festivals each year. To say that the music at our wedding reception meant a lot to us is a massive understatement. We were extremely particular as to what we wanted in a DJ, someone who either played vinyl or looked liked they were with a true set up and mixing skills, not just a computer. Someone who was not a showman with lights, dancers or crazy announcements and props. After an exhaustive amount of research and contacting numerous DJ's we felt confident after our first conversation with Jay McElfresh. We had listened to several of his sample mixes on his website to satisfy our curiosity and his pricing is very reasonable. Jay understood our love of music and how important it was to us and we were able to converse about all the various artists we wanted to include in our playlist for the evening. Jay was courteous and professional throughout all our interactions and handled every curve ball we threw at him. From adding a live singer for our first dance, a special mix for the mother/son dance, soundtracking Mr. Met's surprise appearance, and etc., he fulfilled each and every request we asked of him. He provided the perfect soundtrack for our evening, covering ever era and musician we specifically wanted and had everyone up on the dance floor from beginning to end with the perfect minimal amount of announcements. We received so many compliments on how great of an evening it was and how the music was the best they had ever heard at a wedding and even wanted a cd take home! Jay provided so much fun and entertainment, he was attentive all evening, and made adjustments on the fly.

Everything was well-managed and really took the stress out of it. I mean, my husband stressed out filling out the worksheet, but that's just because we cared SO MUCH about the vibe of our wedding. Making sure that we had meaningful music, threw a good party, and that our guests had fun was super important to us. We were so glad that we booked Jay. Everyone had a blast dancing! We're not a "dancing" kind of group, and yet everyone was out on the floor. The vibe was really fun, but also the right amount of chill. He kept the flow of the evening moving along, and announced everything in a friendly, fun, but NOT CHEESY kind of way. I had a great time dancing and I really appreciated his and Gary's advice thru out the process. For example, I didn't care that much about what the wedding party walked to down the aisle and had picked a super traditional song that didn't really fit in with the rest of our carefully selected music and they sent great advice and helped me pick out the perfect song that fit the vibe better. I really appreciated that they cared enough to point out that I should pick something else, and then help me find the right song. We left our wedding knowing that our guests had a great time (and we had the best time, too!) Seriously, book Jay now!!!

Hire him! No request was too much for Jay. When I forgot that I needed a song for my wedding recessional ( almost 200 guests, hotel room blocks, I was a busy bride, lol) he jumped right in with a perfect choice! And this was 10 minutes before I walked down the aisle. Can I say it again, HIRE him!

From the first time I spoke we Jay, I had 100% confidence in him and his ability to provide the type of music and atmosphere my fiancee and I wanted. We were able to give Jay a playlist of our favorites, which he perfectly understood, and then translated that into an experience that not only indulged our more unique tastes but also expanded on them to include all of our guests.

At every step of the way he was completely prepared and I never had one doubt that everything wasn't perfectly planned for or setup. Given his experience, he was even able to make several non-music suggestions about our overall wedding timeline so that we could achieve what was most important to us!

His approach was professional, yet felt very relaxed. His style was unique, yet accessible to a wide and varied audience. His recommendations were experienced and insightful, yet considerate of our specific situation. Jay was an integral part to our special night and a big reason why everything happened without a single problem. I completely and confidently recommend Jay.

Jay was everything we wanted in a DJ - laid-back, flexible, and talented. Initially, I wasn't planning to book a DJ but I realized quickly that it would be far too stressful to worry about playlists on the night before the wedding. Jay is all about reading the crowd and playing music according to what people are dancing to and he's really, really good at it. My guests were a mixed bunch, some that love to dance and others who despise it. Despite this, Jay managed to have everyone on the dance floor for nearly the entire night. I cannot thank you enough for making our wedding such a success!

Jay was organized and detail oriented during preparation phases and really took the time to get to know us and what we wanted for our wedding. His MC style made sure that the focus of our reception was us and not our DJ; there were no “bad DJ clichés” in his presentation and communication with our guests. He kept the dance floor packed with music and without having to convince guests to get on the dance floor. Jay was willing to take as much or little input as we wanted to give while also making us feel assured that we were in good hands either way. He reads the room well and responses appropriately. Jay also really helped work with our venue and us to help schedule a very smooth flowing timeline of entrances, speeches, dances, etc. We couldn’t recommend him enough!

I found Jay on this site and visited his website which had mixes of basically everything and instantly new that I wanted him to be our DJ for our Wedding. He was everything I wanted. We loved that he wasn't a typical DJ yelling on the mic trying to get people on the dance floor. All he needed to do was use his talent and it got everyone going! Their was one thing that I desperately wanted him to do and it was using a song from the Gilmore Girl's and I only had a sample of it but he made it happen and every time I hear it, I think of our wedding! Thank you Jay for keeping us on the dance floor all night!!

DJ McElfresh is a fantastic Dj! Jay is a true artist and the quality of his work cannot be overstated. He got the party started and kept it rocking all night long. He listened to our suggestions and really gave our ideas wings. He is not a professional wedding DJ, he is a professional DJ that just happens to play weddings. When meeting with Jay he said "If everyone is not a sweaty mess at the end of the night, i've failed you." He did not disappoint! He got every one up on the dance floor early and stayed there for practically the whole night. He listened to all our likes and dislikes and delivered exactly the kind of music we wanted. He was very easy to work with and accommodating, like suppling microphones for the ceremony as our venue didn't have them. We would highly recommend hiring Jay!

Jay honestly helped us have the single best day of our lives. He was by our side through the entire planning process helping us shape the vibe we were looking for. His heartfelt professionalism had us feeling at ease. Our friends and family danced all night long and both my wife and I haven't been able to stop talking about how great our wedding turned out, and Jay McElfresh is one of the main reasons we feel that way. Jay was hands-down THE BEST. He played awesome music and really took our interests/loves/dislikes to heart. He needed very little direction from us and was super easy to work with from our initial meeting to the wedding day itself. He even came all the way out to Queens to meet with us a few times. We think Jay is AWESOME. Such a great dude to work with :) We were doing long-distance planning from London and he was totally cool with conference calling over Skype, emails, and even better in person when we met in NY the week before. He's super organised, super chilled, super friendly - killer combo, and was totally in sync with our mass of music ideas. We genuinely enjoyed the whole process with him. And boy, he really got that dance floor going on the night. We've been hearing how great people thought the music was from arrival to last song. We had a great experience working with Jay from start to finish. Couldn’t have asked for a more friendly, professional, and easy-going vendor to work with.

I was initially a little bit worried about our wedding music because either my husband or myself are not quite up to date on the dance music. But Jay set an expectation early on based upon the worksheet that he provided us and was able to discuss with him multiple times before our wedding to ensure he had a very good idea of our personalities and music tastes.

We also loved his MC as it was warm and perfect for our intimate wedding of 70 guests. We were not looking for an overwhelming intro or dramatic show but, a great dinner party with a good taste and he just delivered that!

Jay is an outstanding wedding DJ. We had him DJ our wedding in Brooklyn in May 2016. Our friends all talked about how great the music was and how it was such a great dance party. Jay was professional, reliable, very easy to work with and has great taste in music and even more importantly, he understands YOUR taste in music and plays what YOU and your guests want to hear. Plus, all those fears you have about cheesy DJs with lame songs and lame sports announcer voices? You don't have to worry about that with Jay. He would never do that to you! I definitely recommend him.
