We loved Javier! He is so genuine and made us feel so at ease and comfortable the entire time. Sometimes he would just ask us questions and take pictures of us telling him a story, and those pictures turned out to be some of my favorites. He makes a real effort to get to know the couples that he shoots so that he can truly capture their love and story in his photos. I’m obsessed with all of our wedding pictures! I would highly recommend Javier for your wedding! -

Javier was such a joy during our rainforest elopement. We chose a very remote location that requires a drive cross-country, an overnight stay in a small town and is only accessible via boat. Javier did not bat an eye at the inconvenience and arrived on time and with such an amazing attitude. The whole day he was devoted to getting the best shots even through the high humidity and after it started pouring with rain! You would never be able to tell how challenging the weather was on the day because the photos came out amazing. Communications before the day were super easy as well.
He has such a talent for capturing light and colour and an amazing eye for details. We were thrilled at not only the photos that you would "expect" from an elopement, but at all the extra details that Javier captured - the plants, the water, our accessories. We also loved the film photographs. Looking at the photos brought us right back to the day and all the little moments we weren't even aware Javier was capturing. We wanted something very intimate for our elopement and we were hesitant to get a photographer at first but Javier and his wonderful assistant were so unobtrusive and patient. He gave exactly the right amount of direction to help us pose for portraits and was wonderful at capturing candids. He indulged all of our ideas about the day (having a slow coffee and breakfast, handwriting our vows, hiking through mud and rain to our ceremony spot). But he also gave great suggestions for where to shoot and what actions would get the best shots. We're so grateful to have had him! -

Javier and his team were absolutely amazing—it was unreal! They guided our every move, made us feel comfortable, and captured incredible shots. My husband and I are usually awkward in front of the camera, but they made us feel so at ease and confident. We’ve already received the preview photos, and they’re even more beautiful than we imagined. We can’t wait to see the rest! Thank you again for capturing our special day :-)

My husband and I loved Javier. He’s so sweet and professional. We’ve worked with a few photographers and Javier is 100% my favorite! He made us feel so comfortable and natural, which is my preference. I don’t like too posed if photos. I would definitely hire him if your style is candid and trendy. -

Javier is a true artist- he takes the task of wedding photographer very seriously but also managed to make me laugh and enjoy the whole process.
From our very first meeting to the last photo snapped at the wedding, Javier made me feel comfortable, beautiful and at ease, knowing we had put the most important job at our wedding into expert hands.
Javier was professional, open, flexible and kind throughout and helped me and my partner feel at ease and happy. Javier’s work is incredible! I cannot stop looking through our wedding album! He captured every detail from start to finish. I was emotional all over again when looking through our wedding album because he really told the story of our day through photos. Javier even walked our venue prior to make sure lighting was in place to get the best quality shots. He truly cares and takes pride in her work which shows in her photographs. Great Vision!
Javier did an amazing job on our photos! Some of which especially brought me happy tears. Getting married in Costa Rica was the best idea. We got to meet the nicest people and it helped us relax, really immerse and enjoy ourselves. Javier was great at helping direct us in what to do while taking picts, but without making it feel stiff. I am so happy with the work he did for us. He also stayed in communication with us before and after the wedding regarding anything we did or didn't want. That's a huge thing for me and he did a great job. He and the videographers did a great job working around each other as well which can't be easy. I didn't even think about that when booking them both.
Thank you for your creative vision Javier! I definitely recommend him to anyone getting married there. 😊

Great Experience, Awesome Photos
Javier shot our wedding at the Riu Guanacaste, Costa Rica, in December 2018. He was very professional and flexible throughout the entire process and we are very happy with the pictures he took from our special day. Javier was also very quick and delivered the photos within 3 weeks of the wedding (for us that was just before Christmas and allowed us to share some photos with our friends and family). The photos were given to us via DropBox link which makes them easy to view, share and download with your loved ones. We would definitely recommend Javier for your photo sessions!

Wedding photos that surpassed my dreams & high expectations
Prior to booking my photo appointment with Javier Mendez, I had spent months looking for the right photographer.
I am a Hispanic American woman married to a Korean American man and I wanted a photographer that would capture both our traditional (Hanbok) dress as well as the wedding dress/tuxedo we were married in. I had a very specific look in mind and hadn’t found the right photographer until a family friend recommended Javier Mendez. As soon as I viewed his portfolio, I fell in love.
He traveled to the New Jersey/New York area to take my photos, I am normally very camera shy and I expressed this concern to him ahead of time. I felt like a completely different person in front of his camera! He made both my groom and myself feel at ease, knew how to direct our poses and capture us smiling at each other naturally.
He was very professional but at the same time, the session was relaxed enough that we all had a wonderful time.
While the experience was beyond my expectations (which are already very high), the photos absolutely blew me away!
I am so grateful I came across this photographer & was able to schedule a session with him. I got the photos I had only dreamed of and created memories I won’t soon forget.
I can not recommend Javier Mendez enough!
