  Jared was absolutely incredible. He made our entire wedding party look -- and feel -- beautiful on our special day. He was quick to respond to any questions we had, and made our day so special. And of course, the photos he took were incredible. We're still cycling through them all, trying to find a favorite. (It's impossible -- they're all amazing.) Jared, thank you so much for capturing moments from the best day of our lives.

  The experience that my wife, Brooke, and I had with Jared far exceeded our already high expectations of him (in all regards). To be honest, our initial meeting with Jared was so influential that when we changed the date of our wedding, the only important limiting factor was Jared's availability. Matt, his second shooter, was equally outstanding. The job they did was so phenomenal that guests are still telling us how much fun they had with our photographers. Oh, and the photos are absolutely perfect.

  In choosing a photographer for our wedding, we are not only looking for somebody with great skills and artistic taste, but also a pleasant person to work with, and Jared is a perfect fit for both. It is easy to see that Jared is passionate about what he does and it shows in the photographs he takes.
  
  It also impresses us how Jared actually listened to our specific needs. We have a large family who enjoy photos of a candid nature. Jared and his assistant Matt were nonintrusive during the ceremony and reception, and yet they didn't miss a thing! The candid shots perfectly captured the moments of the night as well as the personality of everybody. My family is already talking about how they would like to hire Jared for the future family weddings. Overall, we'll highly recommend Jared, he does an outstanding job. On a side note, the wedding package he offers is a great value as well.

  We met Jared through another photographer due to his specialty in portraits. Our wedding was small and simple, and therefore did not have many complicated requests. All we really wanted was some family portraits and ceremony/reception pictures. Jared worked with us incorporating an idea of what we were looking for and our budget. He was quick to accommodate given our short notice wedding, along with providing fantastic ideas and creativity for shooting locations before the ceremony (since we did a first look). He and his assistant were incredibly prompt, professional and patient during the shoots allowing us to soak in the moments. We cannot thank him enough!
  
  We also wanted Jared to capture the reception and he stayed well beyond requested time because he liked the shots he was getting. His eye for candid shots was phenomenal, being able to frame moments with style and humor. We received our 500+ photos approximately 2 weeks after our wedding, with the “best” portraits edited. Having only 18 people at our wedding, it was more than enough photos. We did not request to receive a book, or prints. He set up a password protected website that we could send to our friends and family.
  
  Overall, he went beyond what we requested, made it fun and creative, and produced exactly what we had dreamed for our “New England Winter Wedding”. Thank you Jared! How lucky we were to meet you!

  I met Jared 5 years ago when he photographed my best friends wedding and was so excited to be able to hire him for my own wedding!
  Not only is he friendly and personable he took the time to find out what the vision for our day was, found a way to work with our budget, and made suggestions when we were trying to figure out the timeline for our formal shots.
  We had a very "DIY" wedding and chose not to hire a day-of point person...and Jared rolled with the punches! From showing up at 8 am for "getting ready" photos to the late night drunken sing-along! We got everything from beautiful family portraits to fun candids of our friends.
  We could not be happier with Jared's work and will recommend him to everyone we can!!!

  Jared shot our engagement photos, rehearsal at the church, family portraits at the rehearsal clambake, and covered the entire wedding day from the bridesmaids getting ready, to the ceremony, through the evening party. The breadth of work is a wonderful record of a special period of time for our new and growing family. The photos are wonderful; part documentary and part artistic, which is the style we were after. The photographer is a pro; part technician, part mad magician. It was not only easy and comfortable working with Jared but it was a fun experience as well. My wife and I highly recommend hiring him for your big event.

  After inadvertently planning our wedding for Memorial Day weekend (so early this year!) we worried we'd have trouble booking vendors. Jared was recommended by a friend (he'd done her wedding 6 years earlier) and from the start was incredibly responsive and easy to work with. He ended up taking photos for nearly 12 hours on the day of our wedding - we have absolutely everything documented - and he was smiling and cracking jokes throughout (even our guests commented on how nice and funny he was!). Together with his second photographer Matt, we ended up with nearly a thousand amazing shots, all delivered in just about a month including physical and digital copies. We can't thank them enough for such a wonderful experience - especially coming from two people who hate being photographed!

  Jared was our photographer for our wedding in Marblehead this past November. Throughout the process Jared was extremely processional and very thorough in his detailing of the events of the day. We would often provide thoughts or ideas on how day to go, and Jared would do anything necessary to make our dream day come true. He has a deep knowledge of the Greater Boston area, which allows him to recommend some of the best places for photographs.
  Jared is extremely easy to work with. He is always available to discuss ideas, and provide insights based on his prior experience. Jared is very quick when replying to any questions that could come up through the wedding planning process. As we were planning our wedding from NJ, this provided us comfort knowing that we could always rely on him.
  Most importantly, Jared photography is second to none. After our wedding he provided us a sneak peek at some of our pictures the very next day. As you could imagine it was fantastic to see some photos so quickly after the event ended. Jared was also very fast in providing us both hard and soft copies of our photographs. This gave us hundreds of wedding pictures, which I have not stopped looking back through! His pictures are not watermarked, and he truly means it when he says “the photos are yours”, unlike other photography companies who use a watermark on their pictures.
  We could not recommend Jared highly enough. For a stressed bride his easy going nature and the way he makes himself readily available are essential leading up to the big event. Our families and guest could also not stop raving about how wonderful he was and how he fit in perfectly. On the day of the wedding he took pictures better than we could have imagined, and after the event he provided all of the pictures back to us very quickly. From start to finish Jared’s service was truly excellent and we are beyond thrilled with our decision to work with him.

  I could go on and on about how great Jared was but let me sum it up with a few bullet points
  1) He seems to be able to shoot three places at the same time. There's a chance that he's a super hero.
  2) He gets the shot! (and lots of them)
  3) He loves doing events. Lots of photographers are doing weddings just to pay the bills and it shows. Not Jared. He genuinely seems to love doing weddings.

  I found Jared through my work, we used him for our Officers head shots for our website, which is often the first impression for our clients. Seeing how he put people at ease and produced pictures that picky people were pleased with got me interested in his service. Seeing his portfolio and sitting down with him to discuss what we wanted put my nervous "un photogenic" (his words) husband at ease. We asked for some formal shots but mostly candid/photojournalist style pictures. We also had a second photographer, Dave who was excellent as well. They went above and beyond to get the perfect shot and were very flexible in taking mini shoots when the light was perfect. And even a complete location change since we would have been squinting into the sun. The final product spoke for itself- we had hundreds of pictures that we (and our family!) were thrilled with and made you feel like you were there, they tell the story of the day.

  It was like having a friend at the wedding. In fact I can attribute more fun to him than many other guests! He had several ideas but also took our ideas and made them real. Highly recommended. It really shows that he enjoys what he is doing.

  My husband and I were lucky enough to experience Jared’s work a few years back when he photographed our brother & sister-in-law’s wedding in New York City. We knew he took amazing photos but what surprised us even more was the way he seamlessly fit in with the wedding party! Never once did we feel as if we had a photographer, but a friend helping to capture the unique and beautiful moments of the day. We sprang for an engagement shoot as well and were blown away by Jared’s willingness to shoot multiple venues stretched across a full, crazy day in New York City. He never ran out of ideas, enthusiasm or shots and we could not be happier with both our engagement and wedding photos.

  We were looking for a wedding photographer in the Salem, MA area and happened upon Jared's website. His style of photography was exactly what I was looking for. He uses a photo-journalistic approach, and still maintains beauty and artistry in his compositions. Jared surpassed my expectations, my wedding photos are breathtaking!

  We hired Jared Charney as our wedding photographer, which included engagement photos. The wedding took place December 2011 in Salem, MA. We got 294 engagement photos and 904 wedding photos - all beautiful and artistic. He was professional, warm, attentive, funny, relaxed, on top of being an excellent photographer. He won us over with his enthusiasm for being our wedding photographer, and was very considerate about working within our budget. We had a chance to get to know him when we did the engagement pics a couple of months before the wedding - without the pressure of the wedding day - and had a blast taking pictures around Salem. On the wedding day, he was a gem! He was exactly what we asked for: relaxed, appropriately directive when we needed him to be, and blended in with our wedding guests with ease. Even his assistant Matt was wonderful! Family members and guests who interacted with him came up to us after to compliment him to us, so it was clear he charmed more than just me and my husband. We have been thrilled as well with the results/photos, and have gotten many compliments on our photos from others. We recommend Jared very highly for weddings, or any other event where you may need to have a photographer! Check him out! :) We love Jared and highly recommend him! :D

  Jared shot our wedding in May 2009. He was extremely professional and very talented. He also knows how to put everyone at ease with his great sense of humor. I would highly recommend him!

From the time we first met with him through to our wedding day, Jared was so easy to work with and went miles beyond what we would have expected at the price we paid for the photography. His photography is true to the event he is capturing with virtually no direction and intrusion. The skill he brought as a photojournalist, interweaved with a wonderful eye for portrait photography elicits a powerful sense of memory and emotion every time we look at our wedding photographs he captured. We also love and appreciate how he has kept intouch with us over the years since our wedding day. We would highly recommend Jared to anyone of our friends and family, and have done so.   Jared (and his associate Coke) not only took amazing pictures, but were reliable, professional, good humored, prompt and creative. They really managed to capture the spirit of the day, and we loved all their shots from organized to candid, and especially the personal portraits Jared specializes in. The price was also right for NY prices, and Jared printed out copies of a lot of the pictures, and the rest we were given on a DVD. We loved using Jared so much that we stayed in touch and recently called him back to photograph another family event! We would definitely recommend Jared Charney Photography!

  Jared Charney will always be in my heart as he captured our wedding beautifully. I still tear up when I look through the images as they bring me back to that beautiful September day.
  
  We met before the wedding and spoke at a coffee shop on Newbury Street. Jared was very personable and we instantly connected. I can't stress enough how important it is to really like your photographer as a person- they capture your best moments! We were on the same wavelength.
  
  I still am not sure how he did it, but Jared was able to get a candid shot of nearly every guest. ( Our wedding had 85 guests) The photographs captured the feelings of the day and the personality of each person. I look back on them fondly, especially as we have experienced some losses of family members in the past few years. It is comforting to have happy photos of those who have passed on.
  
  We chose to do very few posed shots. Much of our images are candids.
  
  We loved working with Jared so much we asked him to come and photograph our first born on his 1st birthday in our home. We took photos in my son's room with myself and my husband. It was relaxed and spontaneous.

  I happened upon one of Jared Charneys photos in a NYC coffee shop in 2005. It was a lovely black and white wedding photo that captured the raw emotion and unique love that was shared between the couple. His information was on the bottom of the picture. Sure enough, when I got engaged, I quickly contracted him to photograph our wedding. Jared was able to beautifully and candidly photograph us along with our families and friends. He has given us some of the loveliest photos that I never tire of looking at, even after all these years! We also happily recommended him to five couples who were equally pleased.
