Janet from Sugar Art Cakery is OUTSTANDING! Not only was the cake beautiful it was absolutely delicious! As a matter of fact, the security guard who worked our venue said "I have tried 100s of wedding cakes and this is by far the best I have ever had." We will most certainly be using her for future events and would recommend her for your wedding or event. -

My husband & I had our wedding out of state due to him being in the service. We stumbled across Janet while looking up bakers in the Metro Richmond Area. I am so glad we found her! Her communication skills are A+ and her work is amazing. Janet always reached out to us with updates and any questions she had. She definitely brought my vision to life - she sure has an eye for detail! Our guest couldn’t stop talking about cake, regarding look and taste haha I’ll let the pictures speak for themself. Exactly what we wanted and perfectly delicious
Janet was such a help and she made it really easy to pick flavors and colors for our cake. Her cake also tastes Amazing and looks so beautiful. We didn’t even get a piece of our wedding cake it was gone so fast! -

Beautiful cakes!
Wow wow wow! I can't rave enough about the work Janet did for our wedding cake. It was absolutely beautiful. Not only did it look amazing, it tasted sooooo good! Everyone, I mean everyone loved it to the point there wasn't any left over. When planning a wedding, things go wrong, there are bumps along the way, and sometimes visions do not work out as planned. This was not the case at all. From the beginning of planning to the final finishing touches it was a breeze. I think what sold us (besides how delicious the cake was) was the fact that you can tell how much Janet loves what she does and the amount of work she puts in to make sure your day is special. We wanted something slightly different by incorporating sugar paste succulents in the floral arrangement on the cake and Janet made it happen. Again, so thankful for her and we look forward to using her services in the future! -

Cindy Sent on 08/14/2018The experience with Janet was amazing. From the cake testing to the actual event. Choosing the cake flavor was the hardest part because they all were wonderful! She knew what I was envisioning for the cake and went over the top to make our cake so beautiful and special. She gave me everything I wanted with a very special touch and the cake tasted amazing! Every guest fell in love. I will definitely be ordering another cake for the next special event soon.

My husband and I are huge Capitols hockey fans and she made my vision into reality! She even went out of her way to find an edible Capitols logo, had amazing communication, prompt, and delivered the grooms cake on site the day of our wedding. Thank you Janet! -

She made sure she asked all the right questions and got as much description as possible so she could understand exactly what I wanted. Even though most vendors exclusively work on larger weddings Janet didn't mind working with me to accomplish the best cakes for our small wedding. We settled on getting a bride's cake and a groom's cake so we could have a few flavors for our guests. We had 27 guests attend and both of our cakes were one tier but they were absolutely amazing. Her artistry was spot on and the flavors of her cakes had all my guests talking. My guests made sure to try both cakes and most even went for seconds. We had a very simple but elegant wedding and her cakes were perfect! -

Olivia Sent on 05/29/2018I could not have asked for a more beautiful cake. Janet created exactly what I was looking for by combining several ideas that I presented. All of my guests are still talking about how great my cake was! Some wedding cakes I've had have been dry and flavorless but not ours. Janet was the best price of several vendors we had tastings with and was extremely prompt and thorough in responding to my sporadic emails. Her communication was the best of any of my wedding vendors. I will definitely use Janet for any other special occasion cakes that I have!

Deja Sent on 10/31/2017Janet was amazing, she took my vision and made it reality. As a bride we all know how stressful it can be, but Janet made the process simple and stress-free. She stayed in contact with me throughout the entire process and even added last minute cupcakes to my order (upon request of course). The cake was delicious and everyone raved about it! Would recommend her to anyone and everyone! Thanks a lot Janet!!!!

Kari Sent on 08/06/2018Janet was easy to work with and offered very competitive pricing. I loved that she let us select two types of cake/fillings to use in our three-tier wedding cake. We received MANY complements on the cake's flavor/ texture, especially for the white almond sour cream cake with raspberry buttercream. Many of our guests helped themselves to second helpings, so that certainly is a good sign.
In terms of designing the cake, Janet took our suggestions (birch tree cake with our initials) and incorporated flowers from our wedding florist. She was easy to go back and forth with over email and was able to surprise us with a wooden cake stand that her husband made.
Truly a great local business! We look forward to eating our wedding cake again on our first anniversary! -

Although I did no order my cake here, I attended a tasting. The cakes were outstanding. The cakes are pricey, but delicious. If you want your dream cake, this is the place to go. -

Janet did a great job on our wedding cake (8/31/18). We loved her variety of flavors for cake and frosting. Her pricing is very reasonable. -
