Upon our daughter’s engagement, my husband and I searched for a wedding venue that would provide her with a beautiful, special moment that didn’t cost an arm and a leg. We visited several venues in our area, but could not beat the amenities provided by JHR. From start to finish, Rainwater Conference Center, Ms. Kristi Trostle, and the staff were exceptionally accommodating.
Our first meeting was so very easy, and Ms. Trostle was well-prepared to answer all of our questions, even when we quickly switched from indoors to outdoors. Even after we decided to use the services of JHR Conference Center, communication remained open and very responsive to our curiosities and needs. This was quite refreshing in the middle of a pandemic! Wonderfully, the extension of hospitality was not limited to Ms. Trostle, as all of the staff— servers, set crew, custodians, and receptionists— were so very helpful during our two days of celebration.
The accommodations were outstanding! Aforementioned, we quickly decided we wanted to utilize the veranda, which was truly a hidden gem!! We had no idea of the lake and beautiful scenery that awaited us outside, or that Valdosta could produce something so lovely within city limits. Paired with our florist’s arrangements, as well as seating from Rainwater, it provided an absolutely gorgeous backdrop to the ceremony. The reception hall was just as inviting. The ceiling drapery and lighting was perfect against our chosen up-lighting and table linens. Truly the easiest planning and clean-up ever, all needs from electrical to food and drink were supplied, and we were only responsible for what we brought in to the building.
Guests seemed equally pleased in the accommodations. Our out-of-state guests appear to genuinely love the size, comfortability, decor of JHR in itself (it was decorated for Christmas- surprise bonus), as well as the setting for the rehearsal dinner. In speaking of which, it was delicious! Chef outdid himself with both the rehearsal and reception menus, and the serving staff was spot on. Offering a broad selection of items truly allowed both meals to cater to both dietary and religious restrictions, while the serving staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive to our wishes.
Truly, I would recommend James H. Rainwater Conference Center over and over again. From planning to execution, it provided our families a wonderful moment that will be cherished always. -

Words cannot begin to express the gratitude and appreciation we have for everyone at the Rainwater Conference Center.
When the South Georgia District of Al-Anon was selected to host the 48th Georgia Al-Anon/Alateen Convention with AA Participation, we were both honored and humbled. Plus it was the 75th Anniversary of Al-Anon. As the smallest district in the state of Georgia, we wondered how we could provide a meaningful, welcoming experience while staying within our budget. We prayed for the right place—and Rainwater Conference Center was truly an answer to those prayers.
From our very first meeting, the staff embraced our vision as if it were their own. They didn't just provide a venue; they became partners in helping us create a weekend filled with hope, healing, fellowship, and recovery for families and friends whose lives have been affected by alcoholism & addiction.
Over 300 people joined us from across Georgia, along with attendees from Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama, and even California. Many were visiting Valdosta for the first time, and because of Rainwater and Valdosta Tourism, they left with a wonderful impression of our community and the genuine Southern hospitality it offers.
Every person we encountered made us feel valued. Aldea, our sales representative, was there for every question, every detail, and every change with kindness and professionalism. Truly hands on deck throughout the weekend. Willie, the Operations Manager, was present throughout the weekend, ensuring everything ran seamlessly. Ray in operations worked alongside us with such dedication that he felt more like part of our convention family than a member of the staff. Carla and her catering team poured so much care into every meal. The banquet was exceptional, the lunches were delicious, and our opening-night ice cream social brought smiles to faces of every age. More than one guest said it was the best ice cream they had ever tasted! The dinner was elegant Michelle the Chef and her Sous Nathan pulled out all the stops.
What touched us most wasn't just the beautiful facility or the outstanding food—it was the heart behind everything they did. Every interaction reminded us that we mattered, that our mission mattered, and that they genuinely wanted our weekend to be successful.
There are moments you'll remember long after an event ends, and this weekend is one of those moments for so many of us. Rainwater Conference Center helped create an atmosphere where people could reconnect, find hope, strengthen their recovery, and build lasting friendships. That is a gift we will never forget.
To everyone at Rainwater Conference Center, thank you for caring so deeply, serving so graciously, and helping make our convention far more beautiful than we ever imagined it could be. Your kindness, professionalism, and generosity touched every person who walked through your doors.
If you're looking for a place to host a conference, meeting, banquet, wedding, or any special event, look no further. Valdosta is blessed to have Rainwater Conference Center right here in our backyard, and we wholeheartedly recommend it. We arrived as clients, but we left feeling like family. -

From day one to the Day of the wedding, I could not have asked for a better experience !! Kristi was the most amazing person to work with. She made the whole process smooth and went above and beyond to make my wedding special !! The decorations were gorgeous !! Rainwater’s food is amazing and the staff are perfect !! Everyone was so nice !! I would recommend them 100% and we will for sure use them again for other events !! The level of professionalism is amazing and they treat you like family !! -

Amazing and Exceptional
We had to reschedule to our wedding twice. But ended up being able to do a vow renewal and reception at the rainwater conference center. It was the most beautiful and amazing day. All of our family and friends kept complimenting on the venue. The staff was exceptional as well. -

Kristi was on top of things and always available when I needed her! She even added some touches like the stream lighting behind the Bride & Grooms table and the Mr. & Mrs. sign! Looked great in photos!
I would/will definitely recommend Rain Water!!
Haven’t received photos yet from the photographer because the wedding was just a couple of days ago, so I’m uploading some that I have.
We had the ceremony outside and reception inside, I will have to post more once I receive them from our photographer :) -

Kristi was so helpful. She responded every time I emailed or called her. Even on her day off. She helped bring our vision to reality. She also made sure we were taking care of a long the way.
The only issue we had was the party being held beside us. They were very loud and disruptive during our ceremony. But other than that it was amazing. -

Rainwater did an amazing job with organizing our event! I was very nervous and probably forgot things that I needed to have, but that’s when the staff at Rainwater stepped in and saved the day! It felt like I didn’t even have to lift a finger the entire day! Very professional and efficient establishment to have your wedding in.! Darnella also did a great job in communicating with my fiancé and I to make sure that everything was amazing! Thank you very much! -

Wedding Venue Experience
We were 3 weeks away from saying I do and we consulted with 2 sale reps. They answered all my questions and Sylina catered to a my needs and my budget. Our day was PERFECT and I'm so happy we chose the Rainwater Center for our venue. Thank you all so much!!! -

We have been using this venue for years off and on and we have noticed that the quality of service has gone down. They aren't as helpful and the prices have tripled! We paid $3+ for a 3 day event this year which now costs $14k! That's preposterous!
