Wow wow wow! This about sums up our experience with James at James Brindley’s Camera. From our engagement shoot to our wedding day James created a comfortable environment and we loved our time with him!
James is so easy to work with and really took the time to get all different kinds of shots of the wedding, including so many I wouldn’t have thought to get. Our reception pictures are some of our absolute favorites! So many family members and wedding guests have commented how personable James is, and he was never too in your face with the camera. Sometimes we didn’t even know he was there!
We chose to include a wedding video with our photos and James knocked it out of the park! It was exactly what we were looking for.
Our photos and video are something we will cherish forever! You cannot go wrong with James! He is a gem!

James was absolutely amazing from beginning to end! During our initial call James was so friendly and professional! He answered any/all questions I had and explained his different available packages. James arrived at the venue on time, worked around all the craziness of the day and somehow captured every single important moment so beautifully! He and my photography team worked great together throughout the entire day. I am so happy that we will have these videos to look back on for years to come! -

James was simply the BEST photographer for our engagement and wedding photos. We cannot recommend him enough!!! From the very beginning of our planning process and on, James was attentive to all of our many questions, timeline details, and location requests. He was professional, patient, adaptable and so fun to work with!
Not only does James have a great eye for gorgeous photo composition and cool lighting, he also exudes a chill yet on-top-of-things vibe which is the ideal mix on your wedding day. We never felt rushed or stressed, the photos just flowed seamlessly throughout the day. He caught so many sweet authentic moments on camera and struck the perfect balance of staged portraits with genuine candids.
Also, we got married on October 1st in Charleston, the day after Hurricane Ian came through. We really had no idea what to expect with our photos, but James totally rolled with it and figured out the perfect places for us to take our photos without having to deal with mud from flooding the previous day. We are SO happy with how our photos turned out and the whole process. Book James for your wedding ASAP!! You will be so glad. -

James was an amazing addition to our wedding day. He was organized and helped shepherd all the various parties to the right place. He had the shot list and made sure we got everything we talked about. We have only gotten the sneak peak so far, but I am amazing and so impressed with everything we have seen. A perfect day and perfect to capture your wedding. I couldn't recommend him more. -

Fresh and Fun
Wow, the pictures that James and his crew took are amazing! I really wanted cool candids instead of contrived formal photos and feel that he did just that. We took the classic formal wedding photos but honestly, any decent photographer can do that. James' talent comes into play when he takes beautiful candid photos that capture the emotion of the day. He also has a cool perspective on scenery. Lastly, he and his crew were never awkward or in the way which sometimes photographers can be! I would definitely recommend James Brindley! -

James photographed our wedding at Mingo Point in Kiawah Island, SC this spring - he was AMAZING! From the moment he arrived to start taking the "before" pictures to the very last with capturing our getaway, James was professional, fun, and a calming presence throughout a chaotic day. Our wedding photos are truly incredible - he did a perfect job at capturing the love, happiness, & excitement of our day. He really did make the photography all about the wedding and captured our formal family portraits efficiently while still making it an enjoyable experience. I highly recommend James - he is very flexible & easy to work with, fun, & an extremely talented photographer! We are SO thankful that he was able to photograph our wedding! -

Absolutely perfect!
We found James online and after interviewing him and a few other photographers, it was a no-brainer. Our package included an engagement session. Our engagement photos turned out beautifully. And the wedding photos, oh my goodness!!! I don’t think there was a single guest that James didn’t capture. The highlight video was also wonderful! We can’t stop looking at our photos and the video!
We could not be happier with James, and I don’t believe anyone else could’ve captured the day any better. Thank you James!! -

James was amazing for our wedding in October!! He made us feel so comfortable, and he blended so well with our wedding party & families. James did an excellent job for our micro wedding in Charleston. We are blown away by how well he captured our day and the emotions in us and our guests. My friends thought we were an advertising ad on Instagram when I posted a few pictures of us! I wish we lived closer so we could use him for other special moments in our lives that need capturing in the future! Highly recommend James for Photos and Videos! -

We would recommend James over and over again! He is so easy to work with and such a great guy! From the minute that we booked with him we knew we were going to have a great experience. He was great with communication leading up to our engagement session and wedding and made us feel so comfortable and relaxed throughout the day! James captured getting ready photos for the entire bridal party, first look and family photos, and INCREDIBLE pictures throughout the evening at the ceremony and reception - capturing all of the smiles, joy, love, and dancing! He has an amazing eye for the smallest details and was able to capture special candid moments throughout the day with all of our family and friends that we didn't even know he was photographing! He also sent us a few edited photos the morning after the wedding before we left for our honeymoon which was perfect so we got to relive parts of the evening! We also still can't stop smiling after receiving the full portfolio of all of the pictures - truly amazing!! James was awesome to work with. Neither my wife or I are especially photogenic but James made it easy and helped us feel more relaxed taking pictures on our special day. Part of that was him taking time out of his schedule to meet with us a few weeks before so we could get to know each other better. Aside from that we were especially appreciative of the handful of photos he provided the day after the wedding to share with friends and family. Highly recommended! -

James was wonderful to work with from Day 1. We got everything we asked for and more. His pricing is fair and provides different tiers based on your budget. I highly recommend his package that includes a 4 minute video. It is the perfect amount of time to reminisce and hear the important parts, but not too long. Would definitely recommend him if you are looking for a photographer in the Charleston area!! -

James was fantastic! Seriously one of the nicest guys you will ever meet! He photographed and videoed our small family wedding in my aunts backyard and did PERFECT! Our wedding was all a bit unorthodox due to circumstances but he went with the flow and fit into our craziness with ease! My husband and I could not give enough 5 star’s. We are just sad we do not live in Charleston for him to take all of our pictures ❤️❤️❤️ -

Best Photographer EVER
Some couples thrive in front of the camera, naturally feeling confident to share affections with one another. Others are more reserved and a bit shy - we were definitely the latter! James let us be US and captured our excitement during our engagement photo shoot, and our big love on our wedding day. He made us feel so comfortable and everything felt so natural with him. On our wedding day, he was so patient with our (loud, crazy, obnoxious) families (lol) and friends - EVERYONE LOVED him! We received so many positive comments from our guests on how great James was. With little direction, James captured the energy and emotion of our wedding. And with Hurricane Dorian moving through Charleston the week of our wedding, James helped keep us calm.
We asked for James to focus on the people we love so much, and not on setting up the perfectly staged shot. He instinctively knew who to follow with his lens (the 3-year-olds dancing, the crazy friend from college, the mothers!) but blended into the party.
Before the wedding, James led us to his favorite Charleston backdrops that were classic yet not cliche - making us feel like the wedding we celebrated was truly unique.

Hiring James to photograph our wedding day is one of the best decisions we made during the planning process! With so many details and decisions involved in planning a wedding, James was an invaluable asset from start to finish. He is incredibly professional, communicative, and extremely knowledgable about the Charleston area.
James listened to us early on, and actively helped in developing a clear vision for the day, unique to our personal preferences. His photography speaks for itself, but what you can't see is the amount of work behind those photos. James made it a priority to get to know us as a couple, which made us feel comfortable and less awkward in front of the camera (we’re really awkward). James exceeded our expectations dealing with the many challenges of the day, including working with a large wedding party, shooting multiple locations on a tight timeline, ceremony and reception at a more challenging aquarium venue, and even getting in a few pics with our pup!
We highly recommend James to anyone planning a wedding in Charleston, especially if it’s at the South Carolina Aquarium or a destination wedding. We’re so thankful for the joyous memories James captured that we’ll be able to look back on for years to come. -

James is lovely!
James is lovely! He made two humans who hate being in front of the camera feel comfortable throughout the entire day. The pictures turned out beautifully and he was able to capture the vibe of our day in the photos and the video without taking us away from the party/guests for too long!
James made appoint to take a photo of every guest - whether during cocktail hour or the reception. Tip for future brides and grooms...definitely get the video add on. James did an amazing job!

James definitely has an eye for detail. He knew the type of photography my husband and I were looking for and how to keep everyone from squinting in the setting sun on the beach. We mentioned to him in our over-the-phone consultation that we were planning on doing a “trash the dress” in the ocean after the ceremony. He was more than happy to work with us and even got fully in the ocean to get the most amazing shots! We couldn’t be happier with the way the pictures came out in the end! Thanks, James! -

Excellent experience!
James is an incredible photographer. He is personable, professional, and extremely talented. He has a unique vision and captures beautiful angles with perfect lighting. We were lucky to have him for our engagement photos and wedding. He is calm and composed making photography sessions simple, fun, and lighthearted! Not only did he capture every special moment for us, he was able to capture moments we didn’t even see! He photographed our guests and I was able to relive the entire wedding from beginning to end through our album. He perfectly captured our wedding vision and listened to our preferences. James was easy to communicate with, timely in his communication whether it was email or text. He delivered photography by his timeline due date as promised (timely and quick!) and his websites to view the albums were easy to view and instructions were clear! James shot our wedding and it was absolutely perfect! We just got our photos back and we’ve been looking at them every day for the past week! My husband hates getting his picture taken and James was perfect at reading the room and taking all the pictures we wanted while also being cognizant of how he was doing! James was so awesome! From the first message sent, he was professional and super helpful. He made my husband and I feel so comfortable and special. He is very laid back and super friendly. He also made great recommendations for locations of our engagement photos. He finished editing the photos within a couple days and when we got them, we were blown away. It was really reassuring to know he would be our photographer for our wedding. Our wedding was just a couple days ago but he has already sent us a few beautiful photos. We had a slightly non-traditional wedding party (our best man and maid of honor were our dogs) and he was very accommodating and had no issue working with them. He was always prompt to answer any questions or concerns, his price was the best of everyone we talked to during our hunt for a photographer, and our pictures turned out beautifully! We would 100% recommend him to anyone looking for a great wedding photographer. :)
