Jay was an amazing DJ/MC!!

Jay was an absolute pleasure to work with—fun, professional, and easy to communicate with from start to finish. From signing the contract to the big day, everything was seamless. Incredible DJ

We were not planning on having a DJ for our wedding so when we decided last minute that we were going to spend the money on one, we did our research and landed on Island DJ. His prices are very reasonable, so we honestly we’re not sure what the quality was going to be like, but not only did he meet our expectations, but exceeded them in professionalism and all around an amazing time. As a same-sex couple, you tend to worry about certain things when it comes to your wedding, and our DJ made us feel incredibly comfortable and accommodating for all our request. But we can honestly say that the music made our wedding. We were a couple that have a very specific taste in music, and he was more than accommodating in meeting those needs. It’s been almost two months since our wedding and our friends and family have not stop talking about the amazing music and awesome time that they had and I can honestly say that it’s because of our DJ.

Best DJ Ever!!!

I hired Jay for my wedding and could not be more happy with our experience! He got all of the guests up and dancing and was super responsive. He helped walk me through everything and I could not be more pleased with him!! Hire him for your wedding, you won’t be disappointed!!

Really cool dj

Dj Floyd was really cool! He fit our family perfect. Laid back, chill, but a whole lot of fun! He helped me with a timeline and everything worked out even when we got behind! He also got the guests involved in dancing so that was a lot of fun too!

Amazing, awesome and fun!

DJ Floyd was awesome! Not only did he play all the songs us and our guests wanted to hear but he tuned into our vibe and played other songs that weren't requested that everyone loved! Also he ended up helping the wedding party out with a ride when we were in dire need. He is awesome and I totally recommend him to everyone. Plus he is a super cool dude and an awesome human.

I loved this DJ.

Jay was the first DJ to respond to me very quickly and his prices are fair. He made our day very special. He was very energetic, super friendly and helpful. He will make you day wonderful and fun!! I highly recommend his!!

Very professional and organized

DJ J Floyd was on top of things from the moment we called him . He sent us planners and was there for us for all of our questions and concerns. Planning a wedding can be a stressful time but Mr. Floyd helped alleviate any concerns we had for probably to most important part of the party. He brought his own state of the art equipment and handled all the set up. He was on time and reliable when the wedding started. He was knowledgeable about our Jewish traditions and worked well with all of our other vendors we hired. Great value. Would recommend for anyone.

I can not say enough nice things about DJ Floyd. we were in a crunch 4 days from my daughters wedding and we had to find a new DJ fast and I was very lucky we found DJ Floyd. He saved my sanity and on very short notice.

He was very professional, had top notch up to date equipment and he was set up and ready to do when the wedding party got to location. He had every song my daughter wanted for each part of the wedding set to go, he knew all the members of the wedding party and I have to say he loves his job.

His professionalism started the day we met up to discuss the wedding. he sent paperwork to us that went over every detail of the wedding and reception, with suggestions and write in for music that my daughter wanted. I honestly couldnt have asked for a better dj for my daughters wedding.

I would recommend Jay to anyone for any event. He was/is the best that we could have gotten. Thank you Jay for saving my sanity and my pocketbook. You were amazing and awesome.

Also great with making the announcements, and getting people on the dance floor. He has everything you need from extra lighting, to mic's for the ceremony! He was one of the easiest people to work with! A week or two before the wedding he called and double checked on how to pronounce the wedding party, confirmed songs, etc. He was awesome, I didn't hear him complain at all! Our wedding was super windy and required a lot of last minute quick thinking, re-organizing, and setting up in a completely different area. Jay was on top of it. He didn't sweat, came off cool as a cucumber and adjusted as needed. The music was great, he played the songs we wanted and made everything work fabulously---especially given the weather and windy conditions I could not have expected anything better. Everyone agreed, he worked his ass off to make our wedding a memorable celebration.

Jay was the the DJ for our wedding reception at Faro Blanco. He did an amazing job with the music and keeping the flow of the reception going. Jay was professional and responsive to our emails with any questions that we may have had. Our guests had a wonderful time and danced the night away. Jay was great!!! He was very informative and always available to answer any questions. For our wedding we had our family members give song suggestions to get them on the dance floor. I was able to submit the list to Jay and he took care of the rest. I had no worries through out the entire time we worked together. Absolutely perfect.

Working with Island DJ Services was a great experience! Jay was a great guy and easy to work with. He handled everything start to finish with little direction from us. With just a few selections from us he was able to choose all the music for our wedding and it was a PERFECT fit. Everyone had a blast and danced the night away. I highly recommend working with Jay!

Jay was amazing. He was easy to talk to, easy to work with, and knew exactly what to do. He played a great mix of music. We requested certain genres to play and he did a great job varying the mix and gave a great flow to the evening. I would recommend him for any kind of DJ need. For the record, our wedding was small, only 28 people, and he made it seem like we had hundreds since the dance floor was always full. He was great at MCing as well. Not too much, and not too little. He really was GREAT!!!!

Jay made our wedding that much more special. He gave us the freedom to choose which songs we would like for special moments throughout the night, and was well aware of what types of songs to play to keep everyone dancing all night long. He even went above and beyond by coordinating with the restaurant in regards to the toast and cutting of the cake. My husband and I were just able to sit back and relax and dance the night away! I very highly recommend Jay for any special occasion and will be sure to use him for our next event in Key West!!

Jay did an outstanding job for us providing a customized DJ experience that was, as requested, appropriate for our guests. Jay and islands DJ service were all we could have hoped for and more! He called us a few days before to confirm all of our song choices and names. Jay was a great DJ for our wedding at the Hyatt Marquesa Room in Key West. He was able to keep our guests up and dancing all night. Everyone had a great time. He was able to change up the music and keep it flowing. I received compliments on how good the DJ was. My husband and I were able to dance and party with our guests. We had a good mix of pop, dance and country so that everyone felt included. Jay makes a great emcee and keeps the party flowing according to schedule. We had a great time! Thanks Jay!

DJ Jay did a phenomenal job at our wedding at Little Conch Key! There wasn't a moment that our friends and family where not on the dance floor having an incredible time. Islands DJ did a fantastic job at our wedding. He kept the party going and went by the playlist I sent him. And he was very friendly and so much fun! Our guests had blast. Jay was amazing. He was very friendly and easy to work with. He knew how to keep everyone on the dance floor and having fun, which can be hard to do with a smaller wedding. If he noticed people weren't dancing he was quick to change the music to get you out there again.

We had a great time working with Jay. He did an awesome job in communicating with us several times before hand. He was able to coordinate music that we had requested while also feeling the crowd. The latin music was a hit, so Jay did a great job of playing more to keep the people dancing. He also accomodated my daughter who surprised us by singing a song. Everthing went off without a hitch. It was a magical event and turned out just the way we had hoped. Thank you Jay for helping create our memories.

Jay Floyd aka DJ Whiz was awesome. Very organized and responsive, everything went very smoothly. We highly recommend Islands DJ! Islands DJ service is absolutely the best! My family and I loved Jay Floyd! I had a destination wedding and planned from afar, which he was great about keeping contact with me! The dance floor was full the entire night and he did a great job keeping everything organized and well planned! I would definitely recommend this service 100%!

We recently got married at Roof Top Cafe in Key West. We hired DJ Jay Floyd and he did a fantastic job. We did not get a chance to visit Key West or meet Jay before the wedding. However, we had several discussions on the phone and it was obvious that he had extensive experience. With the music form that we filled out prior to the wedding, we gave him an idea of the type of music that we wanted and he did a great job of playing the right music at the right time. Everyone had a great time and the music selection was excellent.

Jay was an amazing DJ and an awesome guy. Felt like an old friend from home! He'll play any music you request and can also keep the party jumping on his own. If people weren't moving, he'd quickly switch up the song. The best part is my sister-in-law wrote and performed a song for us, bringing in some of her own equipment, and was able to discreetly set that up with Jay without us knowing. My wedding reception was a blast thanks to him.

We recently got married at Hawks Cay Resort in Duck key Florida and Jay Floyd was our DJ. He was very professional and easy to deal with. He called before the wedding to make sure everything was how we wanted it to be. I was worried since we has a small wedding that there would not be many people dancing afterwards and I could not have been more wrong. Jay knew how to get our party started and everyone was dancing and having a blast. He played a great song selection. I would recommend Islands DJ to anyone looking for a great DJ for their reception.

Jay and the Island DJ service were incredible! Music was especially important to my fiancée and I and we knew that it could make or break the party for the evening. Jay was a wonderful communicator and listened to the type of vibe we wanted and took time to get all of the long list of songs that we wanted! At the wedding, he was very friendly and fun, getting involved and making jokes with my family members. He made everyone feel comfortable. He took requests from my friends and checked in with us on the flow of the evening. He kept the party going and even offered to stay for an additional hour, if we wanted to add that, because he saw that the party wasn't over yet! That was so nice of him, but we couldn't take him up on it because the resort had a noise restriction time. I would definitely book him again. After being a guest at a lot of weddings with not so great DJs, I'm so glad I chose Islands DJ for ours!

Jay was recommended to us by the planner at our venue, The Rum Barrel. Planning things from a distance are not easy but Jay made it so. The wedding went off without a hitch and our guests had an amazing time. Highly recommended!!!

Jay was the most fantastic DJ! Planning a destination wedding in Key West from Virginia was a challenging experience and Jay provided a great service. He acted as the MC of my wedding ceremony & reception which was necessary since I did not have a wedding planner. He really set the timing for the reception. After we signed our contract, he sent us ceremony/reception planners that made choosing our music SO EASY. He gave listed suggestions for every song, which was great. He was able to find an obscure record that I wanted played at my ceremony as well. He was very flexible as we had some music changes just a few days before our wedding. He even got on the dance floor and did the Electric Slide with us! When some of our guests wanted to surprise us with a special dance, he ran it by us first (without ruining the surprise). He provided great music within our requests while also feeling what the crowd wanted. He communicated with the crowd by letting them know about the guestbook, sparklers, etc. I am so very pleased that we chose Jay to DJ our wedding, his services left a lasting impression on our guests. He is absolutely great and his price was perfect. He even signed our guestbook, just an all around great guy. Cheers!

I got married last week at the Westin Resort in Key West, Fl. We came in on a cruise ship and were very limited on time. Jay made sure he was there and ready for us when we needed him. All of my guests keep telling me my wedding was the best wedding they have ever been to..and that my DJ was fantastic.

Jay was absolutely amazing! He took songs from my playlist, added a few of his own and took all of my guests requests. (I didn't have any restrictions to what people could play). We had the most amazing time!

DJ Floyd was absolutely awesome!!! He played every song we asked him to, made the reception a blast and his lights made us all feel like celebrities. He was so friendly and everyone enjoyed him. There was never a dull moment without music.

Jay was extremely easy to work with while planning our destination wedding. He did a great job with last minute changes to the schedule, which showed his experience in the industry. He was able to travel from Key West to Islamorada in order to be there for our special day.
He did an amazing job with selecting the music that got the crowd dancing right away. We would highly recommend his work!

Jay Floyd was amazing! He really goes out of his way to make sure your reception is a great time. We basically chose 90% of the songs we wanted for the reception and he had it all together. He is very interactive and has a great voice that people listen to!
I highly recommend Islands DJ Service for anyone looking for a great DJ for your wedding or special event!

We had a blast! At one point every single guest was up and dancing. The music was awesome and kept everyone moving. Jay even offered to give us tips on where to go around Key West because we weren't that familiar with the area.

you must use Jay! He was very thorough in the planning of the ceremony and reception and made to to completely cater to the style we wanted. He played literally every song we wanted, and even found special music requested for my ceremony. I needed 2 music areas set for my venue and he pulled everything off without a hitch! another thing I loved? He didn't have one of those overly exaggerated fake DJ voices (a biggie for me). Jay rocks, I'd use him again in a heartbeat.

EXCELLENT DJ!!! We had gotten a reference from our reception venue and couldn't have been more pleased with the services. Jay was SO helpful and made sure everything was perfect for our reception. He worked with us to make sure that we had the perfect ceremony and played music that we liked. His song choices couldn't have been better...EVERYONE was on the dance floor from start to finish. Our guests all commented on how our wedding was the most fun wedding they had ever been to, and I think a lot of that had to do with our awesome DJ.

I would HIGHLY recommend Islands DJ to anyone looking for a fun reception!

DJ Jay Floyd was AWESOME. I did all of my planning from Pittsburgh and did not get to meet or talk to him very much in person before the wedding. However, when I did contact him about song, etc., his recommendation were very helpful in picking the wedding music. We did not want the tradition "march" music and wanted something more contemporary, and his input was key in deciding our wedding music. He rocked at the reception. I don't think anyone stopped dancing all night long! He made our reception a huge success!

Jay was our wedding DJ in December and is SO MUCH FUN! Not only does he get the party going, he keeps it going and even joins in and lead some dances, he really knows what he's doing.

He's very easy to work with too, he will get back to you right away and will take all of your music preferences into account to make the evening perfect. He is much more than a dj, he is also a host and emcee and will make sure the only thing you have to do is enjoy the evening.

Jay was the best DJ I could have ever asked for. Many of my guests said he was the best wedding DJ they had ever seen. He kept our party going the entire reception and played a variety of music that kept all ages dancing all night. On top of playing great music, he had awesome energy and our guests loved him!

Jay Floyd was an AWESOME DJ. He was timely, his equipment was awesome and he played exactly what I wanted. My ceremony music was not traditional and I somewhat worried about the timing of some of the songs being played, but Jay executed it perfectly.

Additionally, he kept an eye on the crowd and on me so if I wanted to skip to the next song, he would do so, or if the crowd was not feeling a particular song, he'd mix into the next quickly.

Last, but not least, Jay helped to shuffle along the somewhat slow venue coordinator to get us dancing sooner.

I would highly recommend him to any bride, including those who are doing destination weddings. You can trust that Jay will show up and will do a great job.

Jay made the night fit out personalitys. He was great to work with. He was very organazied and followed our agenda how we wanted the night to flow. He always checked with me if any changes came up. My wife and I recently got married in Key West and we were fortunate enough to find Jay through some online research and reviews. Booking any vendor for a wedding and not being able to meet face to face can be a nervy experience but Jay made my wife feel comfortable from the beginning and his professionalism did not stop once the contract was signed. I deal with DJ's on a regular basis with company parties in South Florida and Jay was the most professional and thorough DJ that I have dealt with. Everything and more was covered and he did an awesome job of not only playing music but getting our entire reception out on the dance floor! You can see that he really has a passion for what he is doing and he wanted everyone to have a great time, which they did! I would absolutely recommend him for anyone who is looking for a DJ at their next wedding or event!

Jay was our DJ for our wedding reception! He was great! He has a great planner that is used to fill out before the wedding so you are sure to get exactly what you want. He's quick to answer questions and very professional! Very laid back guy and a lot of fun. We only had 21 people at our reception so we went back and forth about whether or not we were going to have a DJ. So glad we did! Jay had everyone dancing and having a great time the whole night. People are still talking about how much fun the night was!

Jay DJ'ed our wedding reception at Fort Zachary Taylor on 5/21/16. Leading up to the wedding Jay was extremely professional and was very easy to work with. We had a meeting prior to the big day and discussed music requirements. He also supplied out friend speakers to use so that we could play our own music during the wedding ceremony.

When it came to the reception, Jay pretty much played exactly the kind of music we wanted. What was great about working with him was that we really didn't need to provide all that much guidance. We said we wanted "island-style music" during the cocktail hour and provided him with a song or two as an example. He then pretty much played all of our favorite tunes during the reception. I remember actually looking at my wife at one point and making a comment about how perfect the music is for the setting.

He also didn't screw up anyones name during the dances and reception. I've been to a few weddings where the DJ has screwed up the names of individuals in the wedding party and it ends up making things a bit awkward - so I just wanted to comment that this was much appreciated!

Once the cocktail hour and dinner wrapped up, DJ played a bunch of dancing tunes. He was really good at reading the crowd and determining what to play. Like most beach weddings, Key West was hot! So the dance floor wasn't constantly packed - things ebbed and flowed. However, Jay was able to keep things going perfectly.

At the end of the night there was a slight mix up about one of our closing songs. Jay was in the middle of needing to tear down (there is a strict curfew at Ft. Zachary Taylor) - but he still stayed and played the right song at the end. I only call this out because it meant a lot to us. I know some DJ's may have just said no and left given the time requirement, but Jay stayed and played our final song. It meant a lot.

I'd highly suggest using Jay for your wedding in Key West. He's the man!

Jay was great! He found some obscure songs that we wanted played during the ceremony and reception and really got people moving around and having a good time. We had some very hard to pronounce names in our large wedding party so I know that was a bit difficult for him, but he still tried very hard and the main thing was that everyone was dancing and having a good time. It was unseasonably hot and humid and most of my family is reserved, and yet everyone was dancing. I can only attribute that to his positive skills!

Jay from Island DJ services was really great! He gave me a music planning packet that was detailed and I filled it to the max with song requests written all over the thing! I thought he would write back and be like "really?", but he called about a week before the wedding and was super cool, wanting to make sure that he understood everything we wanted. We had a few New Orleans wedding traditions that required certain music and announcements and he nailed it! Thanks for the good time Jay!

Great DJ! He played everything we requested and picked great songs that got everyone dancing. He was not cheesy at all which was very important to my husband and I. He has a great voice for announcing bridal party, cake cutting, etc. He also has a great reception planner so you can pick songs for each portion, plus a do not play section, a must play section, and listing your bridal for introductions. It was very helpful to us because it included things we hadn't thought about and may have forgotten. Great DJ, great service, GREAT value. Everyone had a blast and made comments all throughout the night about how great the music was.

DJ Floyd did a great job at our wedding. Everyone of all ages had a blast and was dancing. I was afraid that some of the music was a little too cheesy, but my guests didn't seem to think so at all. His planner was very helpful, especially in identifying the "do not play" list which is crucially important...trust me.

My husband and I live in Seattle, so after a quick visit to the FL Keys to pick a venue, we headed back home to research/choose all our vendors via online and phone conversations. We decided to go with Jay as he responded right away to our inquiry, had good reviews online and he was just a delight to talk to. After we were under contract he sent us ceremony and reception planners which were very helpful, but being huge music people ourselves, my husband and I ended up creating a very detailed planner of our own. I was a little nervous to send it to Jay because we basically gave him no wiggle room since we had picked out songs to play for the entire duration of the wedding, but he gladly took our music list, downloaded every song on it and played everything we wanted to hear at the ceremony and reception. Jay is definitely a very professional/fun/energetic person and he kept our dance floor rocking all night. The party was so great that we paid for an additional hour to keep it going. Thank you Jay for making our reception loads of fun, everyone had a blast and Kyle and I will never forget it!!!

DJ Jay Floyd was great!! He was able to get almost everyone out on the dance floor! He was professional and flexible to what we wanted. He also provided the officiant with a microphone, and played all of the ceremony music and music for the cocktail hour. We would definitely recommend him!

Jay! What can I say about Jay... just wow. He did a fantastic job! He had the right balance between professional and fun. He kept the party going and the guests entertained! Jay did a great job for our wedding, getting people out on the dance floor and catering to the mix our of guests (young adults to baby boomers and beyond). We had a lot of fun, and he brought his light kit even when I forgot to ask him to.

Really nice guy, very accommodating. And all I had to do was give him a look if I didn't like a song, and he changed it up. He played all the songs we asked him to and his planner beforehand is very helpful!

Jay did a great job getting and keeping the party going at our wedding. He has a ceremony and reception template to fill out that helps with specific songs to play at what times (with suggestions, which are very helpful!). He's very good at gauging the crowd and figuring out what they like to dance to. We did not give him a playlist of songs he had to stick to and he was great at finding the right sound for the night. Not only does he play the music, he gets out there and dances with the crowd too! I sang my father/daughter song while I danced with my dad and he went out and bought a headset microphone just so I could do that. Now that's a DJ looking out for you!

We loved working with DJ Jay. He has obviously been in the business for a long time and has a lot of experience. He provided a Reception Planner which he helps you complete and he helps to coordinate the flow of the reception and announcements. He plays what you like and really knows how to read the crowd to play music that fits the moment at the right time. We had a great time and DJ Jay did a fantastic job!

This DJ did an amazing job with selecting music that made everyone relaxed and even got my non-dancing family members up and shaking their groove. He was easy to direct and relaxed with moving things around, backwards and forwards to fit the time and atmosphere of the reception. He even got on the floor at one point and danced with us - it was so much fun. His emails can be a bit short and come off a bit standoffish, however, speaking to him on the phone and meeting him face to face was a completely different person. He conforms to your wedding and not making you conform to him.

Jay Floyd of Islands DJ Service kept the party going all night long. This was no small feat since our wedding had a wide range of guest ages (10 to 88). There were a number of people requesting a song from my no play list and he hunted me down and asked for my approval prior to playing. He was by far the most affordable DJ in the Key West area. My only complaint was that he played my must play songs during dinner hour when I couldn't enjoy them since I was out taking pictures. Near the end of the night, my bridesmaids let him know that I had missed the songs so he played them again. A definite crowd pleaser.

The DJ was very nice. He played all of the music we asked for plus a few other great songs. We only needed him for 3 1/2 hours yet the price still seemed pretty high. We asked how much it would cost for him to play for 20 more minutes and he wanted to charge us another $75 on top of the $750 I had already paid.

Overall, I was very happy with Jay and his assistant. They really kept us organized despite our constant procrastination to choose all our songs for the wedding and the ceremony and reception planners that they sent us were an especially nice touch. The music Jay played during the reception kept all of our guests dancing and he was happy to take requests. We even paid for him to stay longer than the originally planned contract time since everyone was having such a great time. Jay also helped us through a few frustrating issues throughout the wedding and reception. Thank you!

Did not set up in the area we asked. Spent time during the wedding reception to move his equipment. Hard to find during the event. Mispronounced the wedding party names. Starting playing wrong song for first dance. Dropped his cell phone by his DJ stand and announced that over his speakers and insinuated my son took his phone. Did not announce events as expected. Sound quality good.

The processional started with one of the songs from our Do Not Play List. To make matters worse, we requested that the recessional song start at a specific time - we put this in writing, discussed it during a call, and the wedding coordinator even included it in the itinerary. We asked that our parents not walk out to the same song as the bridal party and...they walked out to the same song. Things happen, so not a big deal. Then despite having been provided with names and information, our parents were introduced incorrectly - which made for an embarrassing situation for those involved. We had to switch the 2 bridesmaids around and Jay was extremely rude when we requested this change. I was told that I was “killing" him with this stuff - he asked if he could just introduce her the way he had it written down - which would have meant that he would have introduced her as the wrong person. We discussed creating a mashup with our college songs. We were told that it wouldn’t be a problem and asked that he not do it if he didn’t think it would work. The outcome was horrible. Each song was played independently of the other - separated with a random song in between. Things happen, but the thing we find the most disappointing is the complete lack of professionalism throughout the evening. He announced that he was accepting requests and then was rude to our guests when they attempted to request songs. Overall, we are extremely disappointed with the service provided and would have asked for the tip envelope back, but didn’t want to cause a scene.

REPLY: One thing I didn't include in my initial review is that we reached out to this vendor prior to posting the review and were told he had an emergency. Meanwhile reviews were posted during the time he was supposedly unable to respond, which leads me to believe they are either fake or he lied (once again). I'm not going to play he said/she said, but I can assure you that all details were provided to the DJ, despite his reply.
