The Island Kings were phenomenal, I'm so glad they were available to play at our Maui wedding. Our guests all commented about how good the band was, but I didn't need to hear it from them because I could tell: the dance floor was full all night!
In the months leading up to the wedding, Tahiti helped us navigate some logistical issues with the venue. On the day of the event, the band arrived and setup and performed without needing any help from us. Everything was so seamless and professional.
Evan and the other musicians were all exceptionally good. So glad we splurged for a five-piece band — the saxophone really adds to the energy of the evening.
I had only one regret, which is that we were so busy taking pictures and mingling with guests that I didn't get to hear the cocktail hour music. Hopefully our videographer captured it — I'm sure it was amazing!Island Kings Band's reply:

Island Kings Band was one of the absolute highlights of our wedding. They brought incredible energy from the very first song to the last, and truly made our party what it was. We loved how collaborative they were throughout the entire process—they let us help shape the full set list, incorporated every request, and made sure the music felt personal and perfectly us.
Chrissy, our main point of contact, was amazing to work with. She was responsive, organized, and so genuinely invested in making sure everything went smoothly.
If you’re considering Island Kings Band for your event, I genuinely can’t recommend them more. They will bring the talent, the energy, and the professionalism to make your celebration unforgettable. -

I just wanted to take a moment and Thank you and the Band for an absolutely wonderful night at the Mauna Kea 9/25/21 for our daughter, Megan Berry and her husband Daniel Fleek.
Ashley (Swept Away Events) knew my obsession with getting a live band at the last minute.... You not only responded quickly but made the entire process seem so easy (at least to me!) I can only tell you and please share with your band mates....the moment my daughter heard the sounds of a live bank outside at the cocktail area.... our eyes locked and her expression of surprise and excitement will be the moment I knew Ashley hit it out of the park and one I will never forget!!!!!!
With lots of Covid "No can Do's" and restrictions coming every other day, the band was the piece of the puzzle that put our event over the top. Although we had to play nice and creatively figure out how to dance in our chairs..... the evening will forever be a wonderful memory for our family and friends.
Thank you again for facilitating along with Ashley to make our daughters #1 request ... a Great band, come to reality.
I can only hope in the future of No covid we can do it again and really really DANCE!!!!

Island Kings was the PERFECT band to play at our wedding, not only are they very reasonably pried, they are super professional, talented and fun! They knocked every song out of the park and they even learned our cake cutting song for us last minute :) We were in awe with their range of vocals and their skilled instrumentalists! My only regret was that I couldn't spend enough time enjoying them as we were off taking photographs for a bit.
They really know how to get the crowd involved, they had us laughing many times! The band really connected with the guests and were so fun and entertaining. We had a card board cut out of our friend Reggie who couldn't make it all the way to Hawaii for the wedding, and at one point they had Reggie up on stage with them "singing" with a guitar around his neck! :D If you can book these guys for your event, you will not be disappointed!Island Kings Band's reply:

My husband and I are sending all our gratitude and aloha for making our wedding amazing!
We were so lucky to have the Island Kings at our wedding, bringing the party, providing a fun ambiance, and playing excellent music.. We and our guest had a blast and wish we could be dancing together now.
I was tired of every song from the top 100 wedding playlist and wanted to have fun classical covers of pop songs during the ceremony, an island-y vibe during our cocktail hour, and party music for our reception. Boy did they bring it.
The band made our special day so memorable and we cannot say enough great things about the great music and ambiance they brought throughout our wedding from ceremony, to the ukulele cocktail hour, to dancing the night away.
We did have some communication issues with our original contact but Tahiti stepped in and cleared up everything.
My husband and I were so lucky to have worked with them and hope for a future excuse to hire the Island Kings.Island Kings Band's reply:

The Island Kings are most definitely the best musicians I've heard in a long time. They are talented and versatile. They are quirky and add the extra pep your party needs. But more importantly, they pick the right musician combo to jive with your group - and they can "get" your needs from minimal interaction. We live in Vancouver, Canada. We chose the Island Kings for our small wedding in Hawaii based on reviews we read. We were appropriately blown away! Everyone still talks about how good the band was and we can't wait to catch them play in Oahu again. I never thought I'd be so lucky to have a band play at my wedding and the Island Kings made it magical.Island Kings Band's reply:

We hired Island Kings Band to play at our wedding at Moli'i Garden on Oct.
5th, 2019. We hired the 5 piece band and were very excited about having
them after all the reviews we read online. On the day of our wedding we had
a few rain showers (very common for Hawaii at this time of year) but we had
hired a tent, and provided a backup location under a large pavilion
(required as part of their contract) for the Band to perform under - to the
exact specifications recommended to us by the bands manager. The band
played one song while we were having photos taken after the ceremony, then
unfortunately during a heavier rain shower some of their equipment got wet
and it was decided by them that because of the wet equipment they could no
longer perform. So they left. They played one song, ate their meals, took
their tip and left. They left us with no music and no MC services (which
we had paid extra for). After the wedding we contacted their management
requesting a refund which they initially refused and only refunded us $1000
of the total $3020 we paid them *(not including tip or the cost of their
meals or the tent and equipment cost that we had to hire for them)* after
we took them to court!
There is a clause in their contract which covers them to cancel at
anytime, for any reason. I am sure their music is amazing, but sadly for us
we never got to experience it. If you are interested in hiring this band,
please ensure you have a HUGE covered or tented area for them to play, as
we would never want this horrible experience to happen to another couple on
their one and only

Pip,
Thank you for your feedback. I'm so sorry that we were not able to finish our performance. We would have been more than happy to set up inside given the impending forecast that day; and, given the frequent showers at your venue, encouraged you to consider setting up indoors in the months leading up to your wedding. We also have the cover clause in our contract in hopes of avoiding this type of situation. Shortly after the start of the reception, it began pouring. All the guests ran inside and the call was finally made to move everything inside. Unfortunately, with the strong winds blowing rain into the tent, our equipment, including the sound board, was soaked and damaged. The band tried to dry off the electrical equipment and find a solution to continue playing but they could not safely turn on the wet equipment without creating a hazardous situation for the band, you, and your guests. They also realized they wouldn't be able to get new sound equipment to the venue before the end of the event. I would like to clarify that we are not able to cancel for just any reason. This particular situation created a safety hazard which we did not feel comfortable subjecting the musicians or you and your guests to. We did offer a partial refund which covered the MC Service, tip, and other services. The band did complete part of their contracted work and much planning went into the night, which is why we didn't feel a full refund was merited given that the unfortunate circumstances were outside of the band's control and recommendations. Again, I'm terribly sorry that this affected your evening and we wish you all the best.
