Cantor Neil Berris and the Interfaith Clergy Network exceeded every expectation we had for our Jewish-Catholic interfaith wedding ceremony at Juniper at the Vanderbilt on August 16, 2025.
From our initial inquiry in September 2024 through our wedding day, Cantor Neil consistently demonstrated exceptional professionalism and a deep understanding of both Jewish and Catholic traditions. He seamlessly coordinated with his network of Catholic priests, creating a truly collaborative approach that beautifully honored both our faiths.
What truly set Cantor Neil apart was his commitment to ensuring our marriage was recognized by the Catholic Church. He helped guide us through the FOCUS Pre-Cana program requirements and worked directly with the Diocese of Rockville Centre, coordinating with Fr. Vincent Sullivan and ultimately arranging for Msgr. Richard Rusconi to co-officiate. This level of dedication to our specific needs was remarkable.
Throughout multiple Zoom meetings spanning nearly a year, Cantor Neil took time to understand our vision and incorporate meaningful personal touches. He helped us select appropriate readings (including the Song of Songs), accommodated special requests for our ceremony text, and even worked with us on Hebrew name spellings for our Ketubah. Every detail was carefully considered and beautifully executed.
Cantor Neil was consistently responsive, professional, and warm in all our communications. He provided clear timelines, detailed ceremony outlines, and was always available to answer questions or provide guidance throughout our planning process. The ceremony itself was perfect. Both Cantor Neil and Msgr. Rusconi arrived early, was fully prepared, and created an atmosphere that was both sacred and joyful. The beautiful blend of traditions moved our families and guests, and the ceremony felt authentically meaningful to both our faiths.
Even after our wedding, Cantor Neil handled the administrative details, including completing and filing our marriage license with the state and notifying the Diocese. His attention to these essential details allowed us to focus on celebrating.
Interfaith Clergy Network’s all-inclusive investment covered everything - multiple planning sessions, both officiants, travel, materials, and extensive consultation. The contract was transparent and fair, with reasonable cancellation policies.
Choosing the Interfaith Clergy Network was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. Cantor Neil's expertise, warmth, and genuine care for our interfaith journey made our ceremony everything we dreamed it would be and more. I would highly recommend the Interfaith Clergy Network. Cantor Neil had several zoom calls with us as a couple to parse out the best choice for officiants that met our interfaith needs. Cantor Neil was very responsive to all of my emails and answered every question enthusiastically. I feel he really got to know us as a couple so that made the ceremony extra special. Cantor Neil and Fr. John Michael were also hilarious and made the ceremony entertaining, yet meaningful. People came up to us after the ceremony and commented how wonderful it was to combine two faiths and how much they loved the ceremony. I highly recommend their services to anyone! -

We then reached out to Cantor Neil and were met with a sense of warmth that we did not get from any other officiants we spoke with. ICN are pros - cool, calm and collected with years of experience.

A Beautiful, Inclusive Ceremony with Exceptional Guidance
We had an absolutely wonderful experience with the Interfaith Clergy Network. Cantor Neil Berris and Father Richard Gross officiated our wedding and guided us through all of the premarital preparations with care, wisdom, and professionalism.
Cantor Neil has worked with my family for years and has always been incredible. His colleague, Father Richard, who sadly and suddenly passed away, was also terrific—his kindness and dedication will not be forgotten.
Their guidance throughout the process was exceptional—they communicated quickly and thoroughly and were always available when we needed them. The ceremony itself was perfect; they worked closely with us to ensure both religions were honored in a meaningful way. Would Highly Recommend Cantor Neil Berris and Father Richard Gross. We had an interfaith ceremony (Russian Jewish groom and Irish Catholic Bride). Cantor Berris was instrumental in helping us celebrate both of our upbringings in the ceremony. He was extremely helpful and very responsive throughout the wedding planning process. Our guests were all blown away with how beautiful the ceremony was, and we received "exceeded expectations" feedback from our family and friends. Cantor Neil Berris is not only one of the best officiants, but is truly one of the kindest and most thoughtful people I have ever met. Cantor Berris' father had married my parents back in 1987, and it was clear he holds the same values and traditions as his father. He takes great care and thought into each and every ceremony he performs, with the goal to make it as personal and unique to the couple as possible. He is incredibly easy to work with, and takes the time to get to know you and your partner, so it feels more like being married by a friend than an officiant. I honestly can't say enough about how wonderful Cantor Neil is. I mentioned at my bridal salon that I was struggling to find an officiant for our Jewish/Catholic wedding ceremony and the wonderful owner gave a glowing recommendation for Cantor Neil and ICN. From the first contact with Cantor Neil I knew we were going to be in good hands, and every single step of the way (which can be complicated and stressful at times when trying to ensure you have satisfied all the requirements for the Catholic church) he was kind, supportive and quick to respond whenever we had a question or concern. He worked with us to create a beautiful ceremony that reflected both of our faiths, and truly represented us as a couple. My fiancé wanted a cousin who is a Deacon to perform the Catholic portion of our ceremony and though they didn't know each other, Cantor Neil reached out to him and they worked together to coordinate everything for our ceremony.. I was such a relief to have the support and guidance of someone who is so knowledgeable of all the requirements for interfaith marriages, it truly was a blessing to both of us to have his support and guidance. Since our wedding we have gotten nothing but glowing compliments on our ceremony, and since that is what a wedding is really about we are so thrilled that it was a highlight for all. -

Cantor Neil and Reverend Anthony put together a beautiful interfaith ceremony for us. Not only did they blend the traditions well, but they each recited pieces from both religions making the whole thing feel like one united ceremony and not a little of this and then a little of that. We also originally only booked Cantor Neil to do our ceremony and decided later that we wanted a Catholic officiant as well, and there was no issue making that addition later on. The Best Cantor Ever!
My daughter told me about the Interfaith Clergy Network in 2020 which was in the midst of COVID. We met with Cantor Berris who made us feel beyond comfortable and we felt that we met him years ago! Perfect Ceremony
Being that my wife is Jewish, and I am Filipino Catholic, we needed a "solution" to get both our cultures and religion involved with our wedding. Although we weren't getting married in a temple or church, we still wanted that religious/spiritual aspect in our wedding ceremony. We did not know where to start, but one of my wife's friends recommended we get an interfaith officiant, specifically Interfaith Clergy. She was married by them many years back, but they were still quite active from what we saw. We contacted them and as they say, the rest is history...
We filled out the contact form on their site and we were immediately greeted by Cantor Neil Berris. Mind you, this was going on during peak Covid. We first spoke February 2020 and did not physically meet with Cantor Berris until October later that year. Between Zoom, Facetime and emailing, communication with Cantor Berris was excellent. Cantor Berris was always very jovial and warm each time. He is such a kind and gentle person, and we knew right away we wanted to be married by him.
Since we weren't getting married until October 2021, we had a lot of time in between. Cantor Berris always stayed in contact and guided us through what we needed to do. He came up with a personalized ceremony that would include both backgrounds of my wife and I. We went over every detail of the ceremony and everything was checked and double checked. Not only did he personalize our ceremony, but he also helped us in making sure our text was correct in our Ketubah and helping with getting our marriage license.
As for the ceremony itself, we could not be any happier. The night of the wedding, Cantor Berris and his colleague Reverend Anthony Gambuzza performed the ceremony. The two of them flowed and worked beautifully with each other (just like Kobe and Shaq in their early days). Everyone at wedding loved the fact they incorporated our cultures, and it was a beautiful ceremony. Our wedding will always be a day we’ll remember fondly. Having Cantor Berris and Reverend Gambuzza as our officiants made it that much more special and we cannot thank them enough.

Exceptional and Personalized Experience
Cantor Berris and Fr. Richard were the perfect duo. From the moment we met them, they showed kindness and compassion. They truly took the time to get to know us, spend time with us, and learn about our relationship and our family. Each step of the way they shared their guidance and were very flexible on any edits to the ceremony to ensure we felt connected. It was so important to us that both sides felt equally represented. They work effortlessly as a team playing off one another so it feels as one.
I have to say when people asked me what I was most exited for about my wedding, it was the ceremony and being able to say I DO to my husband at my dram venue. I’m so thankful to Cantor Berris and Fr. Richard for making that dream come to life. -

My wife and I got to know Cantor Berris through the last couple months. We asked him to be the officiant of our children's baby naming ceremony. I don’t even know where to begin with my experience with Cantor Neil Berris. He is one of the kindest and most patient people my husband and I have ever had the pleasure of getting to know. Getting married by a cantor was something I didn’t know if my husband would be comfortable with at first as he comes from a catholic background but Cantor Neil made my husband feel comfortable from day one. He was so respectful of both of our religions/cultures and made the most beautiful ceremony for us that incorporated the most special parts of our religions. I am Catholic and my now husband is Jewish. It was really important for us to incorporate both of our faiths into our wedding ceremony, as neither of us is converting. Through the Interfaith Clergy Network, we were paired with Rabbi Tobin and Fr. Gross to preform our ceremony TOGETHER. Words can't express how beautiful the ceremony was, with both traditions and practices being combined and shared. Our guests have genuinely not stopped talking about how beautiful and wonderful it was. For example, we had the chuppah, broke glass, and drank from the Kiddish up, while also saying the Lord's prayer, lighting the candles, and reading from the New Testament. Prior to the actual ceremony, both Rabbi Tobin and Fr. Gross worked with us to tailor it to meet our needs and wants. They spent time getting to know us. Fr. Gross came all the way to NYC from Boston to have dinner with us. We shared countless facetimes and phone calls working with Rabbi Tobin and getting to know him. They made our day so perfect. Best. Day. Ever.
Cantor Neil performed our wedding service July 18, 2020. We were fortunate enough to have several FaceTime meetings so that even though we couldn't meet in person beforehand, we knew exactly how our service was going to go. While I am Jewish, my husband is Catholic and Cantor Neil blended our faiths perfectly so that all of our guests felt included and every faith was acknowledged in its entirety. With Covid and quarantine, we especially did not know if our wedding would actually occur and what it would look like but Cantor Neil never wavered and he gave us the most amazing day. We have never felt more special. Cantor Neil made us feel like family and every detail was perfect. We can't thank you enough! -

Beautiful Interfaith Ceremony
I knew we were going to use Cantor Berris for our wedding even before we got engaged. Having an interfaith (Catholic-Jewish) ceremony was so important to us and our families. I knew that with Interfaith Clergy Network our ceremony would be a beautiful blend of our religions. Upon our first meeting, Cantor Berris informed me that our wedding could be recognized by the Catholic Church, and over the next year and a half he helped facilitate that by speaking to my local parish and telling me the requirements of the Catholic Church. He helped us with choosing our ketubah as well. Our numerous emails with so many questions were always met with kind and helpful responses within a few hours. On the day of our wedding he was prompt, he officiated a beautiful ketubah signing ceremony, and along with Rev. Anthony Gambuzza, gave us a perfect ceremony that all of our guests raved about. We are so glad we chose to work with Cantor Berris and Interfaith Clergy Network. -

He did an absolutely wonderful job collaborating with the priest, and my husband and I, leading up to the event. We all met in person and discussed the order of events, the Jewish customs that we would be including, and everyone's role in the ceremony. He is extremely timely with his response and answered any questions that we had. He is a kind and sincere man who helped lead a beautiful ceremony the day of our wedding. Our guests are RAVING about our interfaith ceremony and how beautifully done it was. He helped us combine both the Jewish and Catholic faiths in a fluid and coherent manner. He is extremely well spoken & did a wonderful job officiating our special day. Highly recommend, you will feel so at ease during your ceremony with him!! -
User943469 Sent on 09/22/2012We had Rabbi Paul Swerdlow and Father John Malone co-officiate our wedding ceremony. They work together full-time during the week at the VA Hospital on Long Island, and often perfom weddings together on weekends. When we met them we immediately knew that we wanted them to officiate at our ceremony. The priest even said he would throw in an Irish Blessing knowing that my husband's grandmother was Irish. The cermomy flowed so nicely, with Rabbi Swerdlow and Father Malone taking turns leading the ceremony. It was just as we had expected. Many of our guests said that they had never seen an interfaith ceremony before and they were so impressed. -

Christi Sent on 10/27/2011After all the time I spent worrying about our interfaith ceremony, it was actually the easiest thing to plan thanks to ICN. We had Cantor Berris and Father Maione, and they seemlessly worked together to make our wedding beautiful, traditonal, and unique. Everyone cried!
