SUMMARY: If you're looking for natural make up and hair, Carly is incredible. Do not hesitate in booking her wonderful soul. It was completely worth splurging for her extra services as well (basically your support system + stand in MOH) if you're eloping!
**Extra perk for you Asian ladies--she's FANTASTIC at delicate natural make up on our features. I have one mono-lid and one double-eyelid, and she somehow made me look like the most symmetrical person in the world! No tape, nothing. She's just that good. She won't be heavy on your eyes or skin (no caking!!!) regardless of your race, but she's a diamond in the rough for us Asian ladies looking for natural make-up!
DETAILS: I eloped at the end of April 2021 with three months of planning. After multiple attempts at planning a large destination wedding during this pandemic, my husband and I decided to elope just the two of us. Finding a MUA and hair stylist was surprisingly hard since I was looking for natural makeup, within my time frame, and unbeknownst me--someone responsive. I had spoken to so many MUAs that really turned me off, acted like they were too busy for my needs which was unfortunate, or just never responded. Carly was always prompt, responsive, and eager to answer my questions prior to the elopement so I decided to commit without a trial run to meet me at my location several states away based on a previous friend's wonderful recommendation.
She is diligent and professional--gave me multiple quotes depending on what I would need. I had a two day affair, and I was eloping, so I had no bridesmaids or family around to help with random tasks that I hadn't thought of. As part of her quote, she offered services where she would touch up my make up, hair, carry any accessories/bags, fix my train, carry the bouquet, you name it! I did it for my last day, and gosh I wish I had added these extra services for my previous day. My only regret!!
THE MAKE UP: One word--STUNNING. It photographed wonderfully. I don't wear a lot of make up day to day--just eyeliner (sometimes) with mascara and sunscreen if I'm leaving the house, and I never do my hair. I wanted natural, light, and dewy. She used individual lashes to not overwhelm my eyes. Perfectly enhanced my best features. She didn't use any high coverage foundation, and she somehow made me GLOW with flawless skin. There was no caking since she didn't use heavy foundation or coverage so it was easy, breathable coverage I could wear multiple days running around outside with minimal touch ups. She also uses high quality products, gave me recommendations when I was curious, and I went out and bought half the products she had used the following week, ha! Still using them too! They're so great and easy to use.
HAIR: I did two different up-dos. One was a sleekly pulled back low chignon, and the other was a high "ballet bun" inspired up-do with a bit of a romantic touch (loose curls coming out, more texture, etc.). They were both fantastic. She was super open to feedback when my ballet bun didn't feel high enough, more than happy to correct it, and both hair styles turned out better than I had expected. The day with the sleek chignon was so incredibly windy (whipping our clothes back and forth--making it hard to take great photos), and the hair still stayed put. The pictures have our clothes dramatically flying around but the hair? Not a single strand out of place! Both hairstyles looked fantastic in photos with the wind picking up my dress!!!
HER PERSONALITY: Carly's personality is super laid-back and warm, which is great given you end up spending hours and hours with your MUA prior to the actual ceremony. It was so so easy to talk to her. She was very professional as well, never arriving late, never left me feeling rushed, and she was highly meticulous and clean with her brushes and products. She genuinely puts in a lot for her clients. She felt like a long-lost sister. I added her extra services during my elopement, so she was present with me the entire day in the background, and she even cried during our ceremony and vows, and I honestly still text her to this day since she was that great to have around. It felt like having a good friend at my elopement instead of just a vendor following me around providing services. Helped make our moments even more special sharing with her.
Overall, long review, but I felt like it didn't do her services justice without writing it all out on why I absolutely loved her, and I would use her again for my "happily ever after" reception. I highly recommend her to all, and especially to those brides looking for someone to enhance their natural beauty on their special day! -

Carly was my hair and makeup artist on my wedding and, honestly, my bridal fairy godmother. :) She was an absolute ANGEL to me for the entire day of my wedding - my hair and makeup was perfect (I felt SO beautiful), she did touch-ups on me throughout the day (made a big difference in how the photos turned out), she helped with my bustle when it was time for the dancing, and she even helped me with some tapping/EFT when I felt super nervous/excited right before walking down the aisle. She went ABOVE AND BEYOND. She’s the best hair and makeup artist around. I recommend working with her if you want the best hair and makeup experience that you could ever dream of on your wedding day!!! -

Carly is absolutely amazing - she is a talented hair and makeup artist and also just a kind and caring person. I very rarely wear makeup and was nervous that it would be too much. During the trial, Carly made me feel and look great while also allowing me to give input about the direction. I honestly didn't give much input though because it seemed like she knew exactly what I wanted and what would look good.
On my wedding day, she was such a calming presence. It was a very relaxing and nice vibe just chatting with her and getting ready for the long day ahead. When she was done, I felt totally comfortable and like myself, just a little more beautiful. :) My mom also got her hair and makeup done and she looked great and had a wonderful experience. We both got lots of compliments and were overall so happy with the whole thing. Carly also sent me a text after the wedding asking how it went, which was really sweet. Would absolutely recommend Carly without hesitation! -

Carly's services extend beyond makeup & hair
My wife and I chose to work with Carly to do our hair and makeup for our elopement in Big Sur, CA. We're two brides who don't often do our makeup and hair, so we were a little nervous about not feeling like ourselves on our wedding day. But, the moment Carly stepped in the door, she set an atmosphere of comfort, ease, and dependability. She smoothly navigated our hair and makeup while listening to what we envisioned and asking questions every step of the way. The morning was honestly so relaxing and set the tone for the entire day.
Carly ended up helping us with sooo much more than just hair and makeup. She even helped us edit my wife's boutonnière because it didn't work with her delicate, silk wedding suit. She helped us steam our outfits, touch up our hair and makeup, and checked in throughout the process to be sure we absolutely loved how we looked. Carly even provided a safety pin when we had none! Honestly, it was even amazing just having conversations with her throughout the morning. Her energy really put us at ease.
We decided to have Carly stay through the ceremony and that ended up being the best decision we could make. We got married in the redwoods and had some tearful moments, so having the assurance that she was prepped to touch up anything gave us so much confidence. Even beyond the touchups, she was there to make sure my veil looked nice and that my train looked beautiful. She even stayed for a bit after the ceremony to help style us during portraits.
I cannot recommend Carly enough—especially for those anxious brides who need someone who just knows everything there is to know about making your day go flawlessly. -

Carly is the best!! She is just absolutely amazing at what she does, period! Communication was a breeze, extremely punctual and the nicest, friendliest person ever! She even made me talk (I am not much of a talker at all)! Words can't really do justice to her workmanship. She is awesome. If you are looking for someone to do your makeup and hair, please just hire her!!
She did my makeup for a small engagement sort of photoshoot and kept the makeup simple and totally appropriate for the situation. I told her that I detest heavy makeup and what she did was just perfect. Then she also did my makeup for my reception. Since I was going to wear quite a gorgeous Indian attire, she added touches of bling, which were soo complimentary to my dress. She added just the right touch of gorgeousness without going overboard. She just understood what I wanted without me having to say too much!! -

I love Carly's work on her instagram and website, she instantly drew me in with her photos of people that weren't heavily filtered. Her work is the epitome of natural glam! I have never been more happy with my hair & make-up, she easily captured the look I was going for on the wedding day. On the daily I do concealer and brows so I was a little nervous thinking the wedding make-up could feel heavy, but not true with Carly! I felt like myself and felt comfortable all day. Not only is Carly super talented, but I really appreciated her presence on the morning of our wedding. She was calming and so much fun to talk to. Not only is Carly amazing at her craft, professional, and a total pleasure to work with, she also offers a service to stay through the ceremony, do touch-ups and be your over all glam squad. I was hesitant to add on the extra service, but I'm so glad I did. She kept my hair in place during pictures, touched up my make-up, did a second hair style for the reception and basically was my shadow offering me items before I knew I needed them and making sure everything was situated with my look so the photographer could focus on the photos and I could walk around literally just focusing on myself and my husband. This was the additional stress reliever I didn't know I needed for my wedding day. Thank you Carly!! -

Carly is hands down the best professional makeup and hairstylist I have ever worked with. Before Carly, I've never been happy with professional makeup, but with her I felt beautiful AND myslef. Before I met Carly I had had multiple "failed" makeup trials and was planning on just doing my wedding makeup myself. But then I met the dream that is Carly!!! She is HUGELY talented on both the makeup and hair side of things - she absolutely nailed my desired updo and down look better than I could have imagined. I decided to have her stay through my 2nd outfit change at my wedding reception and I am SOOOO glad I did. She made sure my makeup and hair stayed perfect for all photos and then revamped my vibe when I changed into my second outfit. It was worth every penny to have her stay longer. You know that feeling where you are constantly thinking….do I still look okay? Did my hair get messed up? Well, with Carly you don’t have to worry about that one bit. Overall, she was truly a magical presence to have with me for my wedding day. Before the festivities started she is such a calm and peaceful presence and put me at ease (she told me one of her brides called her the "Wedding Doula" and I couldn't agree more), then as we were taking photos and getting ready for the actual ceremony SHE was the one who was by my side in such a peaceful but helpful way. Then for the reception, she intercepted me at the perfect time to make my 2nd outfit change so I didn't have to worry about logistics. Simply could NOT recommend her more highly. As a proof point of this, for my sister in law and friends who are getting married in the coming year, they already are asking me for Carly’s contact info :) -

Carly is one of the sweetest, kindest people you will ever meet and I feel so lucky that she was my hair and makeup artist for my wedding day. I spent hours looking through different portfolios and instagram accounts of different artists, and when I came across Carly’s I fell in love with her work. All of her brides look natural, glowy, radiant and not too “over done.” Her style was exactly what I was looking for!
When we spoke on the phone for our consultation, I loved how she asked me about my skincare regimen and how I typically like to wear my makeup. She also has a calming, chill presence which I so appreciated!
For my makeup trial, I sent her a few photos of what I was thinking for hair, beauty and what my dress looked like. When I met her at my house, it felt like I was hanging out with one of my girlfriends! She put me at ease and it was so much creating my wedding day look. After the trial, I loved the look so much that I immediately purchased most of the products she used on me (thanks for introducing me to Ilia!!). I could tell she really cared about making me feel beautiful, but also looking like myself which was so important to me! I really appreciate her approach to wedding makeup, and she really listens to any questions/concerns/changes you may have! Even my partner commented that I looked radiant after my trial and he never says anything about my makeup!
In the morning of our wedding, Carly and her other artist blended in seamlessly with my bridesmaids and it felt like we had all been friends for years (they did my bridesmaids' hair and makeup too). Carly and I agreed that we were going to put baby’s breath flowers in my hair, and that morning, we decided last minute to also add them into my bridesmaids’ hair. I absolutely fell in love with how the flowers looked in my girlfriends’ hairstyles and it was one of the unexpected surprises on my wedding day that made it so special!
I originally booked Carly for only hair/makeup prior to the ceremony... but after having the trial and then worrying about how I’m going to sustain my look throughout the long day (in summer!), I decided to splurge and have her stay through the ceremony and cocktail hour. THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST DECISIONS I MADE FOR MY WEDDING. Not only did she make sure I looked flawless every second of the day, but she also kept me calm, kept me hydrated, made sure my long train looked great and was by my side when I was feeling really anxious and nervous. She even had a small fan that she used when I was feeling sweaty in the hot sun! Carly was more than just a hair makeup artist that day, she was magical beauty fairy making sure I felt secure, beautiful and calm. I truly believe if Carly didn’t stay through the ceremony, I would have probably had a panic attack because it felt so overwhelming to be the center of attention for so many hours. She even went above and beyond during the photo sessions making sure the flower girl crown was straight, fixing smudges on people’s faces and even putting sunscreen on my very pale husband at the last minute! I didn’t even ask her and she just simply jumped in to help, which I so appreciated. I feel extremely grateful that she went above and beyond to make sure everybody looked great!
Carly is absolutely wonderful and extremely talented at her craft, but she’s also kind, considerate, funny and has amazing calm energy that every bride needs on her wedding day. If you're thinking about hiring her, ABSOLUTELY DO IT! You will not regret it!! I also highly highly recommend booking her for the longer stay - it was worth every single penny and more, especially if you feel like you will be very nervous on the big day. I can’t imagine having anyone else as my HMUA on my big day! THANK YOU CARLY!! -

I’ve had the wonderful pleasure of working with Carly 3 times over the past 2 years for two bridal trials before engagement photos and on my wedding day. She is hands down the BEST hair & makeup artist I could have asked for!
If you prefer natural makeup and want to embrace your inner goddess, I HIGHLY recommend hiring Carly and the I See Wise team!
I opted to have Carly stay with me throughout the wedding day through all of the main photos - this was the BEST decision of my entire wedding planning! Carly was truly my rock that day. She was a much-needed calming and grounding presence. She went above and beyond to help me, my mom, and anyone else in the bridal party who needed something, whether that was a makeup or hair touch up, a extra hand to hold a water bottle, or a calming spritz of a relaxing essential oil spray.
Also, if you’re planning a second look, having Carly stay throughout the day would be a huge benefit! You could change your hairstyle as well as your outfit :)
I could rave about Carly and her team for hours. They were the best vendors I hired! My bridesmaids, mom, MIL, and I all felt extremely beautiful and confident - and it shows in our photos!! -

Finding a makeup and hair artist was by far the most daunting task- every girl dreams of looking beautiful for their big day but for someone who rarely ever did her makeup (and like everyone else had virtually no reason to even try in the last 16 months) I had very little experience in the matter. I knew that I wanted to have a sun kissed glowy look (not one that had been hiding under a mask), natural, and ... just me but more elevated. I found Carly and immediately knew I had to reach out to her. All of her brides looked flawlessly natural with glowy skin and radiant makeup that accentuated their natural features.
Carly was quick to respond and her communication was always impeccable. I was initially nervous since we were planning an elopement and I would not have the time to fly out for a trial run but Carly reassured me.
The second I met Carly was like seeing a long time friend. She immediately made me feel comfortable. She let me know what she had in mind- we built the makeup look together and she was very clear in letting me know what she was doing during each step of the process. She would stop regularly to reassess and was meticulous with her work. It is clear that she is incredibly passionate about her job and cares immensely for her clients.
I’ve left more than a few makeup chairs (prom, bridesmaid,etc.) feeling uncomfortable- primarily due to the fact that I would look at the finished product and not recognizing the face I saw (cue Mulan ‘Who is this girl I see...’). But I have to say... when Carly did my makeup I saw the most beautiful version of myself. I had flawless sun kissed skin, my makeup felt comfortable and light- nothing sticky, heavy, she added more neutral colors that accentuated my eye shape. I didn’t just look beautiful- I FELT beautiful. And that stuck with me the entire day.
If you are looking for a MUA for your big day- look no further. Carly is the best! -

Perfection!
Carly and her team were the best asset to a beautiful day!! On time, professional and so so kind. The best decision I made was having Carly stay through the ceremony for touch ups and help with photos afterwards. If there was fly away hair, she got it! Any smudges from tears or kisses, she was there to fix it for the photos. She stayed until the moment before we got introduced as husband and wife into the reception and I cannot recommend that enough! She made me feel calm, beautiful, and taken care of the entire day. She is the support that you didn’t know you needed until you have her there. In a sea of emotions from family and friends, it really helped to have Carly there to remain calm and collected and help me gather myself in the small moments. I had a micro wedding/elopment and I am SO glad I chose a makeup and hair stylist.
I chose Carly based on other reviews describing how sweet and caring she was and WOW y'all, everyone is 100% correct. From our initial call where Carly explained how this whole process works and then tells you why she loves doing wedding styles, I felt so at ease and confident.
Scheduling the makeup trial was easy and Carly was soon in my apartment. It's super helpful that she has you watch the process in the mirror so you know what she's doing and you're not worried about what you're gonna end up looking like. It was great to have 2 hair styles to choose from and think about - you just never know what you will like!
Leading up to the ceremony (which was 20 people, due to Covid), my mom decided she DID want her hair done, and it was super easy to communicate with Carly and arrange that for my mom. I sent her photos and my mom was very happy with her final result!
On the wedding day, Carly arrived right on time and got us right on schedule. It was just me and my mom (again, covid), so it was so nice to have Carly there as a friendly face to help with nerves and setting the fun mood. Mom's hair went first, so I relaxed (read: sat around nervously!). Then it was my turn. I mean, really people, Carly is a wizard. My hair, with the same style, looked even BETTER than the trial, since she knew exactly what she was doing and didn't have to undo any curls or anything. SO beautiful! I pranced around the hotel afterwards like a freakin' adorable princess.
Let me also just say that having Carly, a professional wedding-worry-helper, was amazing. I was scared about a little makeup stain on my dress (from one of the million times I tried it on) and Carly was very happy to help calm nerves and give opinions. She even helped me pick which leopard coat I would wear.
One of the best decisions I made for myself was paying extra to have Carly stay through the ceremony. I thought about it at first like, why would I do that? The ceremony will be 5 minutes, how much more help could I need?
The answer is a LOT. Yeah, even for an elopement / micro wedding. Carly was there before the ceremony, for assistance getting some beautiful pre-ceremony shots. She held my things during the ceremony. She stood by afterwards while our photographer moved us around, making sure my hair was good (it was very windy!!!) and touching up my undereyes and lips. Did I need this service?
Yes, 100%. My photos are AMAZING. I would hate for a bride to spend money on her hair and makeup and then cry it off and not get those smokin' photos after the ceremony with her new spouse!
And this makeup and hair lasted all day, too. We had a private cake-cutting back in our hotel and the photos are truly beautiful.
I highly, highly recommend Carly to everyone and have already referred her to a friend! XOXO -

So happy to have found Carly
Planning an elopement or micro wedding during a global pandemic is tough, but Carly made the whole experience so enjoyable and easy. My family and I joke that if any of us gets married again (gah I hope not me), we would hire Carly again to do our hair and make up.
There were three initial things that made me choose Carly over other artists. 1) You can tell from her pictures that she really focuses on natural beauty. As someone who normally doesn’t wear a lot of make up, this was important to me. But just because she focused on natural beauty, she still made you feel like WOW (more on that later). 2) She was one of the few artists I contacted who could do both hair and make up equally well. Given we were eloping in the middle of a pandemic, we wanted to keep the vendor list as small as possible. 3) Of all the artists I contacted, Carly also had the most reasonable cancellation policy. I know this may seem like a silly thing to consider, but we were planning day-by-day not knowing if there was going to be a mandatory shelter-in-place that would’ve cancelled our elopement. I felt relieved that this was one fee I didn’t have to stress about in case there was a cancellation.
I booked Carly for a hair trial, bridal hair and make up on the day of the wedding, stay through ceremony services. Our elopement was in Big Sur. Communication with her (whether it be text, email, or phone) was always very easy.
For the hair trial, Carly came over and was able to set up everything in our garage. She kept her mask on the whole time and it felt very COVID safe. I knew I wanted to have hair accessories, and Carly recommended some inexpensive hair accessories for me to get in advance. We played with a couple different hair styles and kept in touch after to nail down exactly what I wanted on the wedding day. I opted not to have a make up trial, only because I was not as particular about my make up.
On the wedding day, Carly showed up on time. She did my make up flawlessly and I never felt more beautiful in my skin. As an Asian monolidder, I’m always a little nervous about how people do Asian eye make up… but Carly pretty much nailed it on her first try. I also loved the way she did my eyelashes. It was the first time after getting glammed up that I didn’t want to take off my make up at the end of the night. Usually I’m itching to take it all off because it feels so heavy, unnatural, and runny after a full day. But nope, not Carly’s make up.
One of the things that make elopements easier than bigger weddings is that you don’t have to deal with a lot of the planning (and potential drama) that involves your family and friends and their well being. But one of the downsides I did not realize is that you really don’t have anyone to help you out with basic things. Your best friend who would normally be your maid of honor and could carry your bouqet for you? Nope, doesn’t exist. Your cousin driving down that morning who could pick up something you forgot to bring from home? Good luck with that.
So that’s why I think the stay through service from Carly is essential, especially for elopements. Carly not only was my hair and make up artist, she helped me with so many random tasks throughout the day. From dealing with my flowers to fanning out my dress to carrying my husband’s phone to taking getting ready photos (which I didn’t my photographer for) to picking up our wedding cake in Monterey (seriously), I cannot thank her enough. Carly being there actually calmed so many nerves. And that was all on top of the make up touch ups, which she was able to do so quickly in between photos. Best of all, Carly did two two hair styles on me that day, so I had a different hair style for the beach photos after the redwood ceremony. Thank you, Carly! -

Incredible Hair and Makeup Artist! Get the extended service you'll love it!
I feel so lucky that I found Carly and she was available to do my wedding hair and makeup. There is no one better than her! Carly took her time and had extreme detail to every strand of hair every eyelash every contour. Wish I could have her do my hair and make up daily.
We did a hair and makeup trial and I loved everything so much that I was practically taking selfies before she was even finished. She did the perfect soft glam and glowy look I wanted flawlessly. For my hair, I was blown away by her ability to do a very specific and very different updo on the spot to perfection. On my wedding day, Carly did my hair and makeup to absolute perfection and it was just like the trial of not better.
And then the real game changer —- get the full day service!!! I was on the fence about this myself as I wasn’t sure it would be necessary since I saw how perfect the trial was and the look stayed all day. But let me tell you, it’s worth it to get the extended service!!! Carly is so helpful not just at fixing hair and makeup but also with fluffing the dress, making sure everything is in place, etc. She touched up lips, concealer, everything as needed. The touch ups were quick so it did not slow down taking photos or anything. It also added SO much peace of mind to know she was there for touch ups. Cannot recommend her enough! -

Carly was beyond amazing for my mini-wedding! From the hair trial, where she helped guide me through different hairstyles I was thinking, to gorgeous, natural makeup that left me feeling like the best version of myself - she was incredible! She addressed all of my little concerns - working with me with patience when I had a last minute change of mind the night before the wedding on my updo - and left me feeling so confident and ready for the big day. Carly was one of the best parts of our wedding experience!
I feel SO lucky to have found Carly and to have booked her for my wedding day (and I quickly discovered she provides so much more than beautiful hair and makeup). This is a long review, so the short version is that you need to hire Carly IMMEDIATELY, and keep her with you as long as you can (AKA through the ceremony - I 1000% recommend this). It’ll be some of the best money you’ll spend on yourself, oh my god.
My first draw when I found Carly in my search was that she emphasizes keeping you natural. My face doesn’t hold a ton of makeup super well and I just look weird (to me haha). I LOVED that Carly emphasizes natural glam and is all about highlighting and enhancing your natural features. I don’t love my face but when Carly did my hair and makeup, I felt BEAUTIFUL.
It must also be noted that she has a wonderful spirit & energy.
She came to my apartment for the trial where she spent 3 hours with me trying out a couple of different looks for hair and makeup. It made me feel so excited and confident for how I’d look on the wedding day. Also, I got it done earlier in the day and it lasted all day, which was awesome.
At first, I only opted for the trial + day-of pre-ceremony services. I was caught up with so many different wedding expenses, that I didn’t feel like it made sense to spend even more money “just” to have Carly stay through the ceremony.
BUT. PLEASE read this if you’re wondering WHY you should absolutely spend the extra money to have Carly stay through the ceremony. IDK if I was just really distracted by all the wedding planning or what, but I don’t think I initially understood what Carly was telling me about her services to stay through the ceremony.
What I thought: She’d stay through the ceremony, and in case I cry my eyes out and sweat a lot, she’d touch me up one-time and make sure I still look fresh, and then leave. Even with this, I was considering the service because I knew I was going to cry and sweat lol. But I still felt slightly guilty about spending so much just on myself for something seemingly small, especially since our overall wedding budget was on the lower side.
NO. Stop right there if you are thinking this too. IT IS SO WORTH IT. Carly was like my beauty fairy floating alongside me the entire time through the First Look, right before I walked down the aisle, and throughout all the following family photos. AND she stayed SO LONG and even gave me a second hair look before she left. WHAT!!
During all of the above, she carried my water, pretty sure she also carried my inhaler, she helped with my bouquet and adjusting my dress, she helped put my shoes on as well as my veil, she told me the time whenever I asked for it, she took amazing pictures throughout the morning and shared them with me, she kept me calm when I was getting really nervous, and so much more. You're not just paying for the extra makeup/hair services through/after the ceremony - you're also paying for something so priceless that Carly is uniquely able to provide: someone to put you at ease and bring calm to a whirlwind of a day.
And again, she has such amazing energy - she’s calming and energizing at the same time. I cannot imagine my day without Carly by my side. She was in the room with my sisters and best friend, and she didn’t feel out of place in the least. I got so incredibly lucky with my ‘vendor’ team, and I absolutely feel like hiring Carly was one of the best decisions I made for our wedding day (my husband fully agrees with this!!!)

I worked with Carly for my elopement in Big Sur last week and can’t recommend her strongly enough! I spoke to several hair and makeup artists in the Carmel / Bay Area, but Carly stood out as the most responsive, warm, and attentive to detail. When I had an initial call with her to discuss my wedding plans, it felt like talking to a friend, and I knew I could trust her with something as important as my wedding day! But she also was incredibly professional and asked me dozens of detailed questions about my style, skincare routine, makeup routine, product preferences, and likes/dislikes. It was obvious that she really puts thought and care into every one of her brides and listens to their vision and style for their weddings.
On the day of my wedding, Carly arrived early and set up. She is a really sweet and laid back person, which is completely the energy you want to be around on your wedding day. Because of COVID, my husband and I eloped, so Carly was really the only person besides our photographer who I had with me on my wedding day. I didn’t anticipate how hard it would be not to have loved ones around, or how stressed I would be (even though it was just an elopement and I didn’t have a hundred guests to impress). Carly really helped calm my nerves and knew just what to say to make me feel less anxious when I panicked. She even went above and beyond her job description and helped save me from a last minute dress malfunction, when I didn’t have anyone else there to help! I was so grateful to have her there with me.
And my makeup and hair were beautiful! I love love love how natural Carly’s makeup looked - it was a perfect dewy, natural look and exactly what I wanted. So beautiful and not at all overdone. Everything lasted until the end of the night and it hurt my heart to have to wash it off!
I 100% recommend Carly. She’s the best! -

You need to hire Carly NOW!
I honestly do not have enough kind words to say about Carly. I feel like 5/5 stars is not good enough, and she deserves more like 10/5 stars for going above and beyond.
In my search for a makeup artist, I found a lot of people, but my goal was to find someone who can do my makeup glowy and natural but still glam since it was my wedding day in all. I found Carly, and decided to go forward with the makeup trial because I loved her image and style. I had already hired another hairstylist (the one I see on a regular basis does weddings too) so Carly was only doing my makeup. I could tell I made the right choice at the trial, and she gladly listened and took note when I wanted to make a couple changes to my wedding day look.
On wedding day, Carly was doing my makeup + my mom and 1 bridesmaid. That morning my hairstylist never showed up to my airbnb (She was doing everyones hair - bride, 4 bridesmaids, and my mom). Of course a little freaked out, I contacted my coordinator and she quickly called Carly to help. My coordinator ended up getting a hairstylist to our airbnb in about an hour after that (I know, crazy), and Carly gladly came early so she had extra time to do my hair, while the other hairstylist was going to do everyone elses hair. Carly was so flexible with her schedule to accommodate the craziness of wedding day.
For the actual style - it was so perfect and I felt like a beautiful goddess the whole day. Obviously we never had a hair trial, but she still knocked it out of the park anyways. It was hard to go back to normal life lol. I got the package where she stays with you until after the ceremony (really she stayed until after pictures, so much longer), and having her stay was the best decision EVER. If you can afford it I highly recommend doing it. Im not a cryer but I cried a lot for our vows and during the ceremony so Carly was a life saver to fix my makeup and touch me up whenever I needed it. The bridesmaids and I, along with Carly had so much fun just hanging out in the bridal suite waiting for ceremony time. She also snapped the cutest photos and sent them to me after, so it was like having an extra photographer!
All in all, I can't recommend her enough, she is so professional and good at what she does, but also just a fun person to be around, especially on wedding day :) -

I feel so incredibly lucky to have found Carly. My husband (eeek! that's fun to say, we just got married a few weeks ago!) and I originally planned for our wedding to be in Sonoma County pre-pandemic. We made the decision to keep our original wedding date of 6.20.2020 but marry in my sister's backyard, in the city we live in (1.5 hours south from Sonoma County) in front of immediate family. Switching locations meant switching vendors!
When I came across Carly, I instantly knew that I wanted her to make me feel like the most beautiful version of myself on my big day. I was so happy when she let me know that she was available on my wedding date.
Due to me reaching out last minute and during a global pandemic, I did not have a trial run with Carly and it didn't worry me even the slightest bit. My husband and I invested a lot of money in our photographer and videographer, and I felt very comfortable moving forward without a trial because of all the photos I saw of Carly's work. I wanted to look like a glowy, dewy, summery, NATURAL goddess with some glam on the eyes. She completely exceeded my expectations. My makeup looked absolutely INCREDIBLE! I have never felt so beautiful in my life!
Carly texted me the morning of to let me know that she was excited for my big day and also to give her ETA. Unfortunately, when she arrived, there was quite a bit of family drama and negativity happening. I was sad and in tears for quite a bit but Carly was so supportive and ultimately put me in a better mood. It honestly felt like I had another best friend there, someone I've known for a long time and yet, this was my first time meeting her!
Carly has the most incredible energy and bent over backwards to make sure I felt loved, supported, beautiful, and that I had everything I needed. I have told my husband several times that having her there (aside from her doing my makeup so beautifully) was truly a highlight of my big day.
I honestly considered sleeping in my makeup that night because I did not want to take it off. Again, I have never felt so beautiful in my life! Carly made me look like ME and enhanced all of my features.
It's important to mention that Carly did mine and my MOH's makeup during a global pandemic. She wore a medical-grade mask, was constantly cleaning/sanitizing her hands and the makeup brushes, etc. and truly made us feel safe and comfortable.
ALSO, Carly took photos and videos and sent them all to me the night of our wedding. She captured a video of the back view of my dad and I walking down the aisle. It is such a beautiful video!
I can't recommend Carly enough! She is the absolute best of the best, wildly talented, kind, down to earth, fun, friendly, and so professional. You will not regret booking her! -

I was once where you are now, o reader of reviews. Looking across a vast internet of bridal ideas, a million tabs open on my browser (half of them Etsy), Instagram somehow knowing that I was getting married and volunteering images of aspirational brides (aka models) for my already overwhelmed and intimidated self... and having no idea how to evaluate and distinguish between wedding vendors I found online. If this sounds familiar, I'm glad you are reading this. I can help. Let me tell you about Carly.
In short, booking Carly will be one of the best decisions you make about your wedding (besides your spouse). I'll explain.
Carly has the polish, technical skill and professionalism of an artist you'd find on a Hollywood movie set, magazine shoot, catwalk, or red carpet event, but -- this is key -- she translates her considerable skillset into the challenges, quirks, and creative rewards of real-person, real-world circumstances. She spends a lot of time getting to know your style, your attributes (hair texture, skin tone, frame, bone structure, features you want to highlight or work around), and your personal style. Natural, classic, glam, edgy or classic -- I could see Carly being equally adept in all of it.
After an initial phone consult, Carly will arrive at your trial prepared with several ideas and an open mind, and she will work with you to experiment, consider, problem-solve, and rule out ideas. And if you change your mind after the trial about the look you want, Carly can roll with it! She will not make you feel pressured or locked into any look. I totally changed my desired hairstyle and color palette after my trial, and Carly listened to my rationale, considered the photos I texted her, examined photos she took of me at my trial, did a little product research, and came to my wedding day with a modified (and absolutely perfect) game plan. She also did my mom's hair and makeup, and made her look so elegant, fresh, and naturally stunning that my mom's friends took photos to try to copy Carly's techniques later on.
I never told Carly this, but before I met her, I was pretty nervous about my bridal hair and makeup. It is such a personalized thing, and I knew it would be a defining aspect of how I was going to feel that day. A wedding is a lot of things, but in many ways it's like a one-act play where you are onstage the whole time. Oh... and no pressure or anything, but hair and especially makeup can make (or break) your photos.
And let's be honest... you know you want to feel like a goddess in those photos.
I think that hair and makeup artistry is an exercise in trust, communication, and shared vision. I imagine it's one of the hardest jobs of the wedding because people have so much invested in how they look and feel that day. Carly offers an option to stay through the ceremony to touch up makeup and hair before the reception, and I strongly recommend this, as have other reviewers. It is a wise option since you will have been in that makeup chair starting hours before the ceremony start time.
Finally, at the trial and the wedding day, you will have an opportunity to get to know Carly and discover what an interesting, smart and wonderful person she is -- and this matters. It matters because wonderful people are worth knowing, but also because you need someone grounded, funny, and peaceful at your side on this day in particular. Carly will make your time in her chair feel like a meditation and an effortless talk with an old friend. She will be kind and genuine with your mom or grandma, and if you have a bridal party, they will all want to book her for their next event the minute they see her handiwork.

Hands down, Carly is the coolest, baddest, freshest HAMU I've ever met as a wedding coordinator. I cross paths with a lot of artists but this gal, I gravitated to her immediately. Not only was her equipment and selection so impressive once I walked in to execute the big day, but her vibe was just so cool. Before I even shook hands with Carly, what blew my mind was HER PROPOSAL (yes, sounds strange but wait til you even see it). Carly came to the wedding venue at 8:30am to help my daughter, the bride, and me look our absolute best. She did both make-up and hair for each of us. I love the way my hair my turned out. I initially found Carly on Wedding Wire and loved her natural approach to makeup, and liked that she had worked with women of all different skin tones. Her work did not disappoint! I reached out to Carly about 10 months before my wedding in late summer 2018, since I was eager to lock down my day-of team for my destination wedding. She was incredibly responsive and straightforward about her rates, availability and her style. She answered all of my questions patiently, even after multiple back and forth emails. I also wanted her to take care of hair/makeup for my bridesmaids and mom/mother-in-law, and she built us a very detailed and organized schedule based on the day's timeline.
After deciding on Carly, I sent my (very reasonably priced) deposit to her and we agreed to plan a trial in the spring 2019. I finally met Carly in April. She was a calming presence from the moment we met. I loved how relatable she was, and she immediately put on some low key tunes and got to work. I had a fairly clear vision of my look, and we tried a few different hairstyles before settling on my day-of hair. Makeup wise, we just went with a natural look that still made me feel like me. Overall, I was extremely happy with my trial and felt confident about my look for my wedding day. Carly took notes for herself and snapped a bunch of pictures of me for my records.
Fast forward to day-of, Carly and team arrived a touch early to set up (which is perfect, so we can get started right on time). Her team brought all of their own equipment and had every product under the sun with them, not to mention extension cords, mirrors, etc. We got through the morning with everyone done with hair/makeup on time, and the schedule didn't feel rushed at all. I especially appreciated how patient and thoughtful Carly was with my mom's hair and makeup, since she wasn't used to getting it done regularly and can be particular. I personally felt that my makeup looked even better on the day of than it did during my trial. And bonus, I was able to get my makeup done outside which was a very relaxing experience.
I also decided later on, after my trial, to have Carly stick around until after my ceremony for touch ups. This was critical, as there were many tears during and after my first look, and Carly really made sure I always looked flawless. Carly was AMAZING throughout the whole day, but I especially appreciated her thoroughness during this time. She wasn't just there for a single touch up - instead, she followed us and our photographers around and took some beautiful pictures on the side for me, and she was always around helping me stay cool if I was heating up, or touching up my hair in photos or adjusting my makeup / handing me tissues after an emotional moment. This was some of the best money I spent on my wedding day, and I was truly sad to say goodbye to Carly.
I would not hesitate for even a second to book Carly, her work is amazing, she's a beautiful, calming and warm person, she will listen to what you want, and she will make you feel supported and beautiful. I truly enjoyed every moment with her! THANK YOU CARLY -

Carly is incredible and I am so happy I had her as my wedding makeup artist. She is incredibly talented, everyone looked so amazing after she worked on them. I wanted a more natural look and she was able to deliver that stunningly-- I was so happy to still be able to see my freckles!
Having her stay through the ceremony was so nice, especially since I forgot to pick up the flowers for my hair at the venue, so she was able to put them in once we got there on the day. It was really nice to just have her there to help me out and do touch-ups before photos, but her ability to make sure the day went smoothly and keep me calm before the ceremony was especially amazing. She even lent me her jacket when I was cold! She is such a nice person and she really did a phenomenal job, I couldn't have asked for a better makeup/hair artist! -

I feel so blessed to have found Carly for my wedding. I can genuinely say that she was everything I had hoped for and so much more. From the moment we connected on the phone, I knew that Carly and I were meant to work together. At the time, I had reached out to a couple of other makeup artists but none of them showed the professionalism, warmth, and positivity that Carly did. Not only did I love her work but I loved her supportive outlook on the bridal experience that she aims to provide for each of her brides. I knew that I would have a stressfree experience and Carly really went above and beyond to deliver.
I chose the option to have Carly stay with me for a 2nd look and it was one of THE BEST decisions I made during my wedding planning. We had a pretty packed day with a Chinese tea ceremony before our official wedding ceremony and Carly was able to quickly change up my hair and makeup with ease. Not only that, she stayed with me past our wedding ceremony for touch-ups during the 1000s of pictures that we took. She worked so well with our photographers and videographers. She really rounded out our wedding day dream team! We felt so lucky to be surrounded by people that we vibed with so well on such an intense day.
My wedding party and I agreed that it was so fun getting ready with Carly and her other makeup artist. It really felt like I had one of my good friends with me throughout the day. I was a little anxious right before walking down the aisle since I was walking myself down the aisle but Carly was not only there to help me feel and look flawless beforehand, she really helped calm my nerves. I was so grateful to have her there with me.
All in all, Carly helped me feel and look like the best version of myself on my wedding day! My hair was perfect and my makeup was flawless without looking overdone. Everything lasted until the end of the night even though it was a pretty hot day (pretty sure I still looked amazing at 1 am). I highly recommend Carly and her team for any and all events! -

Carly was amazing from the beginning. I first did a hair trial with her and she came out to my apartment with everything she needed and spent about 3 hours with me. Not only did she make sure I was going to get what I wanted for my wedding but it also made me feel comfortable and confident that the morning of the wedding would go smoothly.
For the wedding we had myself, 2 bridesmaids and 2 mothers getting hair and makeup done. She came to us in our hotel room. She brought in another stylist and had a schedule so we never felt rushed. It was so nice to feel as relaxed as possible hike getting ready.
I also opted for her to stay until after the ceremony and that was the best decision. She stayed with us during the first set of pictures and fixed up my hair right before I walked down the aisle. She stayed during the ceremony and also through us going off site for pictures at the beach. She did touch ups throughout so I never had to worry about my hair or makeup. In total she was with us from 8:45am till about 6:30pm. It made the whole process of taking all of the pictures (which isn’t my favorite thing) easy and stress free.
I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a hair and makeup artist. She is so friendly and you can feel how much she loves what she does. She made all of us feel so comfortable and taken care of. Each of us felt beautiful and still like ourselves which for me was very important. For someone who doesn’t usually wear makeup I was looking for a natural look and she delivered. I could not have asked for more -

Carly was so warm and professional throughout the entire process. When I first reached out to her, I mentioned that don't wear any makeup other than mascara most days, and I had some concerns about how heavy some wedding makeup looks. She completely understood! She made it clear that she wanted me to feel like myself on my wedding day.
Well, I was married this April, and mission accomplished! The makeup was beautiful, if felt light, comfortable, and natural the entire night.
A true testament to Carly's skill though comes from my mom. She wears makeup even less frequently than I do. She had previously decided not to have her makeup done for the day. However, as she saw Carly's work on my bridal party members, she changed her mind. Luckily, Carly was able to squeeze her in. She even made sure to give her a few tips for the future!

Working with Carly was a truly fantastic decision! The one thing I really wanted out of hair and makeup was to look and feel like myself, and Carly made sure that was the case. I usually don't wear makeup or dress up, and Carly helped me look and feel amazing while taking my numerous skin issues/allergies into account.
She requires that you do a hair and makeup trial for bridal styling and that was extremely valuable for me. I made sure I was comfortable with my wedding look and also that none of the products caused a reaction.
Carly hired two other artists to assist with bridesmaids hair on the day of, and that was a great experience - everyone loved their hairstyles. My mom hadn't wanted to get her hair done but once she saw everyone else's hair she wanted to join, and Carly even made extra time to do my mom's hair, This was made possible by the effort she puts into the scheduling process and because she stayed through the ceremony. I didn't know what this service was when I first spoke to Carly but I'm SO GLAD that I learned this was an option and chose it. This is an add-on service where Carly stays and does small bridal hair and makeup adjustments throughout the first look and family/group photos. During this process Carly worked with our photographer to re-position my hair or touch up my makeup during the photo shoot, something I never would have been able to touch up myself. In addition, Carly was just so generally helpful and great to have around for the whole time. She made sure I was looking and feeling great through the whole day!!
When you have many people getting their hair/makeup done you really get to spend the whole day with your hair and makeup team, so it's important to like them! Carly is so easy and fun to spend time with, and so good at what she does, I would definitely recommend that anyone hire her for weddings or any other events. Thanks Carly!! -

Carly was incredible! From the beginning I knew that she was a great fit for what I wanted. Carly’s style and skills focus on accentuating your natural beauty, simply put. We’ve all seen brides that look gorgeous but nothing like themselves, and I knew that wasn’t what I wanted.
Carly was so helpful and patient, so open to my ideas and offered up great ones of her own when I had none. Running up to my wedding day, she was super responsive and honest.
On the day, Carly made me feel like a better version of myself. She not only did my hair and makeup, but the makeup for my mother-in-law and sister, and ended earlier than scheduled!
One thing to note, Carly’s fantastic at doing makeup for Asian eyes too. I know that was a concern of my sister, who’s Chinese, since not all makeup artists know how to apply makeup well to monolids.
You won’t regret hiring Carly for your wedding day. I can’t recommend her enough!

Planning and coordinating with her could not have been easier even though I was planning fro out of town.
She was so friendly and easy to work with. She was a calming presence on my wedding morning even as everything around us starting getting hectic. She did an amazing job on me, my sister and my mom. My hair and makeup was exactly what I wanted and it looked great through the whole day and night.
Again, I couldn't be happier and I would recommend her for everyone! -

Carly could not have been a better fit for our wedding. She was not only incredible at her job in every aspect (and I mean it, she was WONDERFUL), but the other artists that she recruited for her team matched her level - which was highly important to me with 11 bridesmaids, 2 moms, and 1 bride getting hair and makeup done. The entire team made everyone look fabulous, was incredibly kind and fun, and we even finished our appointments a little early!
In Carly's package, she offers a "second look" for an additional price. At first, I wondered if I needed this, and I'm SO GLAD I went through with it. It wasn't necessarily just for changing my look, which I also ended up doing and loved. I highly recommend it because she stayed with me after the ceremony (which was probably about 3 hours after my hair and make up was done). She helped me through ALL of our family and couples' photos and fixed me in between photos with touch ups after tears, wind, you name it.
After working with Carly, I now consider her a friend. She is great at her job, but better yet, a really sweet and supportive person to have around on such an important day. Highly recommend!! -

Timbrey Sent on 04/08/2018I’m not even sure where to start with how happy and elated I was with Carly. Let me just tell you a few things that really stood out to me:
1. She listened. She listened to what I wanted and the look i was going for, yet adding her amazing talent and ideas to make it MORE than what I imagined.
2. She did a mock up on me and wouldn’t stop with her ideas until we found what I was happy with. You can tell she does this work because she is passionate about it and wants you to be happy.
3. She’s a natural. She’s SO naturally talented at her work, it’s easy to love EVERYTHING she presents.
4. She made my “special day” the wedding of my dreams. For so many reasons! Her make up was amazing, her support was even better. I love her!!
5. Oh and I forgot to mention that the vail I’m wearing… she made it. Yup… hand stitched people! TALENT!!!!
