    Amazing photographer and videographer!! GREAT team, really creative and fun pictures. Worth EVERY penny and more!!

    They took pictures from 11am til 11pm. They made sure to get every shot I wanted and more. They did fun shots, creative shots, portraits, and lots of other amazing things. Very very creative and wonderful to work with.

    Also really nice that they are photography/videography team, therefor they work together and know what they're doing rather than bumping into each other and getting into each other's way.

    If you are in the MD/DC/VA area, you should hands down go with Hyon and his team. Really easy and fun to work with and a really quality product. I couldn't be happier!

    I cannot sing enough praise for Hyon Smith Photography. Hyon and his whole team are truely artists. Hyon took my engagement photos in Georgetown, he made an amazing engagement movie of me and my now hubby! I played it at my rehearsal dinner. Everyone cried, they also said it looked like a hollywood film!
    From the beginning Hyon would always accomodate me and my schedule, even THOUGH, he is so busy himself. He was flexible and really got my vision. On the wedding day he and his team was amazing, they were documenting like crazy but didn't EVER make you feel like they were in your face. They gave me sneak peak of some photos before editing and oh my God, so breathtaking, I can't wait to see the final product with editing! Hyon has the perfect mix of humor and professional. He has beautiful ideas but puts a smile on your face while he does it. Hyon is a celebrity, I am telling you... I am so picky... Unexpected bonus, I work in a non profit setting and do a lot of volunteer work. I met him on a volunteer job I did... I love working with someone who donates his already limited time for a good cause!

    I can not say enough... Hyon and his crew are awesome! They are professional... the best! at the same time, very laid back and cool, calm and collected... they coordinated everything very well despite any mishaps or craziness on our part or our friends and family....they could handle whatever comes their way (from sudden chances of rain on an outdoor ceremony, a bride in tears because she doesn't like her hair, an angry groom because the bride is late, to a foreign speaking family that can not follow any instructions)... they just kept on smiling and made everyone else smile also... Love you Hyon!

    Hyon and his team were such a joy to work with! He makes it easy to take beautiful pictures and has such a unique eye for great shots. My bridal party all had a great time shooting and filming with his team and my wedding day was perfect! Thank you Hyon!!

    Hands down....AMAZING! Hyon Smith and his team are true professionals. He was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. The weather on our event day was not the best...so the nerves began to set in about where we could take photos. There was no need to worry....because he made the very best out of the venue. When I received the first email of proofs....they took my breathe away. It was like being back in the moment they were so magical. My family still can not stop talking about how wonderful the pictures turned out!

    Hyon and his team are the BEST! They were wonderful to work with. Very professional and fun too. His work is of the highest quality. You get what you pay for so he is well worth the money. Would hire him again in a second.

    We used Hyon for our destination wedding, he provided us with 5 days of amazing photos!! Would definitely recommend, and will re-use for other events whenever possible.

    We did not work with Hyon but with Adam. Adam was great throughout the day. Very efficient, funny, and professional. We can not wait to see the pictures. He let me see the back of the camera for a few pictures and they looked great. We are excited. Definitely glad we went through Hyon's studio.

    We did our research and met with other photographers in the area however, when we first met Hyon at his studio, we knew right away that we wanted him to be our photographer. His photographs are AMAZING as well as his personality!!! He is sooo funny and great to work with!! Everyone commented on how patient he was during our wedding day trying to take all the group pictures with such a big family and a huge wedding party. You don't have to look any further HYON is the way to go...he is HIGH RECOMMENDED!!! On our wedding day he came on time and started taking pictures right away. Our ceremony and reception was pretty long and he was able to stay the entire night to capture everything!! We can't wait to see the pictures!! Hyon THANKS SOOOOOO MUCH for everything!!!! :D

    Hyon and his team have given me so many wedding memories to look back on. My wedding was a three-part event and finding the perfect photographer was my number one priority. Although Hyon is not the cheapest around, everytime I look at the pictures I am taken back to the day of the wedding and feel all dreamy again. He along with his staff, are very personable and easy to work with. I would recommend them to anyone.

    Hyon is AWESOME! He and his staff are very professional and work very hard to accomodate you on the big day. They were fun and made us feel like we were their only customers. Hyon's work is amazing and cannot be beat!

    The best of the best! This vendor wasn't a draw of the hat for us. Hyon and his team did my sister's wedding in 2006 and photography was the first thing my fiance' (now husband) and I booked in our to-be-wed journey. By far, this is the best decision we made ~ besides getting married of course!

    We knew from going through this tideous research with my sister's wedding that Hyon's and his team's quality of work is a sure thing! So we were happy that we were not taking a chance with our photography. Hyon ended up doing our wedding photography, engagement session (location shoot), and videography. We really wished we also used Hyon for our wedding day slide show, because we ended up asking a friend to do it for us and while it was sweet ~ it really wasn't professional quality. I truly believe that photography is not something that any bride (or groom) would want to take a chance on...or base it on price or ask your friends to do.

    We are amazed with the images Hyon were able to create and document for us on this very special and important day of our lives. I mean, I thought I would receive as great quality of work as my sister did, but I got soooo much more. I got blown away at how AMAZING the images came out. For once in my life I am speechless. Hyon has his own signature style, but he is definitely not someone that will simply "recreate" beautiful images from other people's wedding for you. He creates a style of your own for your event. And for us that was priceless!

    Hyon is as talented as it gets in this field. Not only does he make you feel comfortable taking pictures, he is personable and knows exactly what makes a good picture. Just look at his website and you will see how beautiful and creative his pictures are. He even was willing to change our package without additional costs to meet our needs. If I ever have anything that needs picture taking, he is handsdown the person I would want. His creativity is unbelievable and he will make you look gorgeous.

    Hyon Smith and his Team take exquisite pictures and the results speak for themselves. Their team works really hard on your wedding day to deliver results that will last for a life time. I highly recommend Hyon Smith and will be extremely happy with the results.

    Every penny well spent. We Certainly put a good chunk of change into photography. Once we found Hyon we raised our budget b/c his services were worth it. WE first did an engagement session with hyon and no one could believe how incredible the pictures came out. Not to mention how comfortable he made us feel with him behind the camera. After the engagement photos we knew we had nothing to worry about for the wedding. We sat back and relaxed and had fun!
    The pictures for the weddding were unique and like nothing we had ever seen. Friends have actually cried after looking thru our album b/c it is so breathtaking. I have been in the wedding business for a while and Hyon Smith Photography is the BEST!
    He is a 20 on a scale of 10!

    We found Hyon by attending the Northern Virginia Bridal Show. The Bridal show featured hundreds of wedding vendors along with perhaps 40-50 photography companies and Hyon's work was the one that stood out. The Bridal show took place in the Patriot Center on the George Mason University campus. After walking through the arena and seeing millions of brochurs, albums on everything related to wedding we were most impressed with Hyon's work. He turned out to be the only vendor we chose and used from attending the Bridal Show and it was worth it! Our wedding took place in Blacksburg, VA so Hyon's staffed had to travel quite a bit of distance to cover our wedding. Unfortunately, being as good as he is, he is very popular and we were unable to book him himself for our wedding. I was nervous if his staff shared his eye for great photography. It turns out they were great, and we couldn't be happier with our photos. We have already recommended one of our friends to him and I will make sure that my sister uses him as well for her wedding. His photos are professionally done and other photographer's photos cannot even come close. I have friends that used other photographers to save money and I can't imagine if I had done the same. It is something that lasts forever and everytime we look at the photo it bring us right back to our wedding day. In all honesty, he's not the cheapest out there, we spent the same amount of $ for photography/videography as our reception for 85 people, but it was totally worth it. We shopped around and visited many videographers and found that the best deal was to hire Hyon's company for both photography and videography. Hyon has been great to work with. One thing to note, it took awhile after the wedding for us to receive our wedding album and video DVD but I'd rather ensure quality deliverables than quick but sloppy work. If you are a person that cannot wait, and "must" have your photos/albums/videoDVD's immediately after your wedding date then you will want to have a conversation with your photography vendor. It took us 8 months to get everything but we didn't care because all we cared was that what we got was top quality. Our album layout took creativity, time and thought and we wouldn't compromise quality for time. Hyon truly captured the most beautiful day of our lives...and that's worth every penny.

    Hyon and Adam did an amazing job with our wedding. They set up a slide show near the end of the reception and our guests literally gasped at some of the shots they captured. They scouted the area in the days before our ceremony and found some wonderful locations to take "fun" photos before the wedding, which were some of the most amazing photos - artistic and a few editorial in style. I am *in love* with our photographs and could not be any happier.

    We wanted to have great pictures and a memorable video for our wedding day. Because we wanted the best, we were willing to pay a little bit more than what we budgeted. Hyon is so friendly, professional and he just takes amazing pictures. We can't wait to see the album and are so happy we decided to go with Hyon.

    The videographer did a good job capturing all the embarassing and funny moments that we weren't able to see during the event. However, it took them a bit longer than expected to send us the dvd.

    I hate providing such a negative review, but I hope that this will be helpful for future brides and grooms who would like to avoid the headaches that we went through.

    We were dissatisfied with the service from Hyon Photography because: Adam's team was 45 minutes late without calling and left two hours early saying they had their "story", not one single picture of the cocktail hour, or the decoration and theme, guests complained about their unprofessionalism, and their pictures were unfortunate for a professional photography company - blurry, mostly portraits and the same background with trash cans, fire hydrants and poles in the back which make some of those pictures unusable. I understand Adam was training someone that day, which could explain a lot and we understand people can have bad days. However, on top of things, the pictures were delivered raw without seemingly any touch-ups or "story" and the contract was never fulfilled as they did not provide prints as per signed agreement.

    We met with Hyon last year and he admitted that we had a case. He offered to make up for this by promising a shoot with him, a wedding album and the prints per the contract. He delivered on the photo shoot in May 2012. It was actually a fun session and we appreciate Hyon's artistry and positive disposition. However, we have not heard back from him since the Fall 2012 regarding the remaining items.

    Much to Hyon's surprise, we have waited over two years to provide a review as we wanted to be fair and give them a chance to right the wrong and give balanced feedback. We are not out to ruin his reputation, which is stellar for the moment but just wanted what was agreed upon in the contract and in the follow-up with Hyon. Not sure what happened...

    I hope this review is helpful. Please beware. There is enough to worry about on your special day. Your photographer and consequently pictures should not be one of them.
