This venue is amazing. Everyone is kind, friendly, flexible, and makes you feel very much at ease with that you're putting together. Their team is exceptional and helped my now husband and I turn our ideas into a reality in the most spectacular way. We could not have had a more incredible day and we cannot thank Eric and his team at the Hyatt for helping us get there.

    beautiful venue

We loved working with Eric and his team! From the start, Eric was so helpful in navigating the different offerings the Hyatt had for our special day, and they were very flexible when I changed my wedding date and which ballroom we wanted for the reception. The food was ABSOLUTELY delicious and the staff was nothing short of professional. The venue itself is also beautiful and always covered in flowers

We chose Hyatt Westlake to host our guests for our wedding in Malibu this May. While the property was gorgeous and the hotel amenities were great for the value, there were definitely some bumps in the planning process. We mainly dealt with Danielle who was very sweet and responsive but failed to mention she was going on maternity. After figuring it out on our own, we were then passed between 2-3 of her colleagues during the last few months leading up to the wedding. We were also not made aware that the hotel was completely booked out on double beds that weekend (luckily the king rooms have a pullout) and they kept on going back and forth with how many rooms we had in our block - one day it was 20, the next 30, the next 23..not the most consistent. They also have a really strict policy on noise after 10pm and scolded some of our guests (including my husband's aunt) for even laughing too loud in the lobby which I thought was bizarre.

What we can say is that all of our guests had a great stay and everything went smoothly over the progression of the weekend. The room prices are a really great deal and we were able to work out a shuttle service (at a nominal fee) to take guests back and forth all night from the venue. We would definitely stay at this property again as a guest, just be prepared that there is some disconnect if you are planning to use them to host larger amounts of guests.

It has been over 3 weeks since we contacted Hyatt in response to our poor experience. Although the hotel has confirmed receipt of our correspondence we have yet to hear back from anyone. This reinforces the dismissive attitude management has of its guests and the attention to detail that is lacking. We take to reviews to warn others of this gross misrepresentation that the Hyatt Regency Westlake affords the luxuries, attention and comfort expected from a world resort chain. We chose the Hyatt Regency Westlake to host 20+ rooms for our wedding and the entire stay was riddled with disappointment. From the horrible communication that resulted in guests not getting their welcome bags at check-in and overbooking of rooms that infringed on our guests privacy to terrible ant problem and issues with our catering, we encourage all to think long and hard before spending large sums of money here. The saving grace were the front desk and bell staff that made the experience bearable. Still waiting...

    Wedding Disaster

Dear To Be Grooms, Brides, and Event Planners:

Ever since I was a child I had planned and imagined my wedding day. Luckily I have my spectacular wife
by my side to plan things with me, a great start was as our wedding day; May 6, 2018.
My wife and I had been planning our wedding for over 6 months; the most grueling task was selecting a clean, well-maintained, well-managed, and elegant venue for our special day and our guests from all over the world. After selecting the HYATT hotel ballroom and services for our special day, we went through the gruesome task of putting the rest of the wedding together: inviting astute guests from all over the world, selecting a cordial dancefloor, collaborating over $72,000 of flowers and decorations, assembling a DJ with an Orchestra, reserving photo and video services; all in hopes of having an eventful night.

Unfortunately the night of our wedding was not as eventful as we had imagined.
Subpar alcohol and beverages served, bathroom flooding with guest injuries, A/C vent leaking directly over dancefloor bringing event to a conclusion, maintenance workers crowding dance Floor during event.

For starters the subpar alcohol issue; I had paid for and was contractually obligated to top shelf or
premium alcohol and beverages for my guests. At my own wedding it was brought to my attention that HYATT was serving low-end drinks and not the agreed to premium drinks; HYATT acknowledged their misstep and replaced the bar with beverages detailed in contract.

Our dancing and joyous time on the dancefloor was brought to an immediate end caused by the A/C spilling over and leaking a liquid substance on myself and guests on dancefloor. Maintenance staffs' response to the leaking over the dancefloor was over delayed and embarrassing as the hotel displayed ladders, wet towels, and maintenance workers in the middle of our dancefloor while guests were getting ready to have dinner and instead preparing evacuate. In conversation between an invitees and HYATT hotel manager, Tony, it was acknowledged by Tony the display is a shameful tragedy and realized that no one deserves this unplanned disaster; many wedding guests had left right after A/C event.

The next day it was brought to our attention that the bathroom was flooding sewage from the drains.
Two of our guests had personally called us and apologized for leaving early since they had slipped and injured themselves due to bathroom flood; this was not what we had anticipated for the day after our special day.

The plans of our special day were completely ruined due to negligence from the lack of maintenance and service, exposing guests and other patrons to hazards; our special day was brought to shame. We wish these issues did not occur on our wedding day for us to remember forever.

"A couple is suing the Hyatt Regency Westlake, alleging their wedding and reception plans that cost them nearly $30,000 at the establishment in 2018 were marred by flooded restrooms and floors so slippery that it was unsafe to dance. Ian Iman Amirian and Ingrid Amirian filed the lawsuit Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging breach of contract, negligence and premises liability. The suit seeks unspecified damages.

"Hyatt ... failed to warn (the groom) of the dangerous and defective conditions that existed at the subject premises," the suit states. A Hyatt representative did not immediately reply to a request for comment.

The groom signed an agreement with the hotel on Jan. 17, 2018, in which he stated that more than 300 guests were anticipated to attend the event later at the Westlake Village hotel on Westlake Boulevard, the suit states. The hotel was to provide numerous amenities, including the ceremony, the reception, food, drinks and a dance floor on May 6, 2018, according to the lawsuit, all at a total cost of $27,840.

"Hyatt had an implied contractual obligation to provide a secure, safe and well-maintained venue for (the couple's) wedding day," the suit states. Instead, the restrooms were flooded and the ceiling leaked due to a malfunction in the air conditioner, causing guests to slip on the dance floor, according to the complaint.
The entire day's events were delayed while Hyatt crews made repairs, the suit states.

In violation of a written agreement, Hyatt did not provide the high quality drinks the groom requested, the suit states. Many guests frustrated by all the mishaps left early, the suit states.

On what should have been the happiest day of the groom's life, he instead was embarrassed by the developments and suffered mental distress, the suit states."
