Found my dream dress here!

I had a great experience at House of Brides. The ladies were extremely kind and easy to work with! I found the perfect dress here for a very reasonable price. I also got my bridesmaids dresses here. Everything was in on time. And, the alterations department did an incredible job. I'd highly recommend!

Nancy was the best! She made me feel so comfortable and had the best interest for me. Didn’t make me feel like she was trying to get a sale. Very personable! Thanks Nancy for a great experience!!

I had such a great experience at House of Brides in Glen Ellyn. I came in from Rochester, NY five months before my wedding to shop with my family, and they were very accommodating of my distance and short time frame. Mary Ann was very helpful and encouraged me to try on beautiful dresses I wouldn't normally have picked. She made sure I found a dress I could take home that day, so I wouldn't have to stress about picking up the dress from a distance. In all, she was incredibly sweet and helpful!

While planning my wedding, I avoided going dress shopping as long as possible because I knew how picky I was and I figured it would take me an impossibly long time to find the right dress. Boy was I wrong but it was all thanks to house of brides. I called in the morning and had no problem making an appointment later that day. I came in and my consultant asked me what I would like in my dress. When I showed her picture examples and explained, she told me to go look around and find some dresses I'd like to try on and she'll be right back with one that she immediately thought of that would be the perfect fit to what I'm looking for. She came back with the most stunning dress. I tried it on first and it was perfect. I fell in love with the dress and I chose that one. I did try on a few more after to make sure it wasn't just the excitement of putting on a dress and it definitely wasn't. I'm in love with my wedding dress and it was so perfect, and it was all thanks to the consultant at House of Brides. I probably would have never found the dress of my dreams if it wasn't for her.

After trying on many, many, many dresses... that I thought I liked the first time I went to try on, Nancy Zych pulled one on her own she thought I would look good in. At first I told her no, that it wasn't what I was looking for. She insisted I try it on. As soon as she got me in the dress I knew it was the one. It was everything I wanted, I just didn't know it. I felt amazing. Nancy Zych is amazing. If you go there request her- she knows what she is talking about and is so fun to work with. Alterations were AMAZING as well. Toni did a tremendous job. The dress I ended up buying was difficult to alter, because it had so many layers. I also, like lots of brides, was working out and loosing weight up until the week before my wedding. She made the dress fit SO perfectly. I couldn't imagine having dealt with anyone other than her or walking down the isle in any other dress.

I give House of Brides a 5-star review based off my own experience there.

The second dress that I tried on was the one I chose for my wedding day. I told my consultant what kind of dress I wanted, and she brought me to the right place to start looking. Within minutes, she was helping me get into the ones I liked, and giving advice. I wish I could remember her name, because she was so perfectly wonderful and sweet! She made me feel like a queen in that beautiful dress, and encouraged me to call my mom up to come and look at it.
She also gave me a great deal on both the dress and the veil that I went with. I also learned that the dress was a fairly new one in the store, and I was one of the first to try it on.

The rest of the staff was helpful in keeping the dress for me, getting me appointments, and then of course my consultant getting all the details settled for me. I walked out with the dress a couple weeks later, and couldn't have been happier! Great quality, great fabric, beautiful design. I got so many compliments. I can't comment on alterations, however, because I took it somewhere else since it needed to be done speedily. Everything else was great, though!

Despite all reviews I read and friends personal experience I got very lucky with my consultant Julie at Glen Ellyn location. She was very helpful and worked with us on prices for the bridemaids dresses. Found dresses on sale and then found out about a special sale event after hours the following week so we waited to order and got even more of a savings. Julie also knew of my apprehensions about ordering from HOB and put my mind at ease and following up on my order in a very timely manner. Dresses came in about 3 weeks earlier than Julie expected them to come in. Each dress was perfect!! No flaws, all zippers perfect and color was perfect!! Cant wait to see my beautiful bridemaids in their graphite grey sweartheart neckline short dresses in 2 months!!!

Amazing dresses, they do have rush order on some dresses, seamtress who did the alterations was fabulous! I could not be happier with my dress, customer service, or the seamstress...they were all wonderful!

I had a great experience both with my wedding dress as well as my bridesmaid dresses from House of Brides. I worked with Annette and she was wonderful!! I purchased my dress during an event the store was hosting and received a credit I was able to use for both my shoes and hair piece. My alterations were exactly what I wanted and I couldn't have been happier with the experience.

House of Brides has 6 locations throughout the US, but have an entire online store which is what I used. They offer brand-name dresses (bridal, flower girl, bridesmaid etc) at prices well-below any bridal shop. My bridesmaids were right out of college and I didn't want them to spend a fortune on a dress they are likely never to wear again. House of Brides allowed me to choose a dress I loved while giving them a decent price that they could afford. They are professional, honest, and quick! I ordered all of the bridesmaids dresses online at the same time for everyone to ensure that they would be from the same dye-lot and had the girls pay be back later. I chose Bari Jay dress #818 which was $129 at HOB while in a bridal store it averaged at $200!! Great deal and is a legit business. Don't be scared to use an online vendor in this case!

I have nothing but the highest praise for House of Brides. I bought my wedding dress, bridesmaids' dresses and flowergirl dress from here. All were delivered earlier than the estimates at unbelievable prices.

When one of my bridesmaids dropped out with only a month to go, I had to think fast! I chose someone else to take her place who was considerably taller and larger. House of Brides contacted Eden Bridals (where all the dresses had come from) and arranged for them to express ship some extra material and lining so that we could have the original dress extended. Thanks to their quick thinking and fantastic support (along with my wonderful tailor) nobody at the wedding knew that one dress had been remodeled!

The initial ordering process worked fine, the delivery was above average, the pricing is excellent and the staff are helpful and know what they're talking about. I recommend them unreservedly.

We went to the store and it only took 45 minutes for me to find the dress of my dreams! It was absolutely beautiful and we spend less than 1200 for the dress and veil, which several people told me were 'breathtaking' :) We got the bridesmaid dresses through here as well and had no problems whatsoever. I would definitely recommend this again!

I got my dress from House of Brides with a matching wrap for $300 and no shipping cost. I also got all of my bridesmaids dresses from there as well and they came with a free wrap too. They have every dress imaginable for a cheaper price. To make sure I liked my dress, I went to a local vendor and tried it on first before buying.

LOVED the sales gal here - at first i went to the one in schaumberg where they were ALL very snooty - then i came in to this one with my mohter on a whim and fell in love with this grandmotherly old woman who knew exactly what i might look good in - i purchased my dress from her the very same day - i LOVED it, and all i had to tell her was that it was an out door wedding where i wouln't want anything to prissy OR to tom-boyish...THANKS

I searched 1000s, literally 1000s of dresses online. Upon finding several dresses that I liked, I went to House of Brides and found my dress for almost $300 less. It was a great deal. I was slightly hesitant about buying my dress online, but after reading the reviews online, I felt more reassured. The dress came on-time, actually early, and it was just what I wanted. I highly recommend them.

Found a beautiful dress!

I found the most beautiful wedding dress here! I ordered it with plenty of time before my wedding and got it within 6 months. I did hear that it came in sooner but I didn’t get a call and didn’t follow up on it until then. The women I worked with were amazing and made me feel beautiful! I ordered extra lace to build cap sleeves onto my dress but it was missing when I picked up the dress. Jennifer put extra effort into ordering it and making sure I received it in a timely manner. Overall, I had a positive experience and would recommend this location to others!

I am originally from Illinois and now I currently live in Las Vegas. I went back to Illinois to buy my wedding dress. I chose House of Brides because of their selection. The lady who helped me throughout the selection process was really great. She is very knowledgeable and was able to provide me lots of options that best suits my figure. I was very apprehensive from reading reviews, but I was drawn to the plus size Diva shop attached to this store. Every experience I had from start to finish was WONDERFUL. Tracey helped me pick the perfect dress, got me an extra discount, and ordered everything perfectly.
I called a month after purchasing the dress to see if they could tell me an anticipated arrival date and they couldn't- but the woman at the front desk could tell me the dress had been ordered. I was so so so nervous, but lo and behold, 5 months after it was ordered, it arrived. I had my first fitting with no problem. They even opened the shop early for me to come in at 11am to fit my schedule.
For the second fitting, I missed a phone call at 7:30am saying that the seamstress was sick and had to cancel my 12noon appointment. I noticed the voicemail around 10am and called to reschedule.
The alterations department told me that since they noticed I was an out-of-town bride, the seamstress would make a special trip in, despite her illness, to accommodate me! So nice! Who does that? A great shop.
I realize a lot can go wrong in the process, but for me, everything went right.

The House of Brides in Glen Ellyn is very professional, clean, and friendly. It is so much better than the location in Schamburg. I got my dress and my bridesmaids dresses here. The staff was friendly and always helpful. I got the person's email address which was so nice when questions came up. And the staff members, especially Jen, was always cheerful and helpful. They helped me put my entire look together which I'm still getting compliments on.

However I took off a 1/2 star on professional because on 2 occasions I waited at the front counter for 5 - 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged me. Also, I took off 1/2 star on value because the flat rate for alterations was way too high for the little amount of work I had done to my dress.

Overall, I enjoyed House of Brides in Glen Ellyn and would recommend it to others.

Honestly best place to order is online or ask the store to match onlien deal. Bought dress online and received 4 bridesmaids dresses fromt he designer I wanted for FREE!!! Number of free dresses depends on the price of your gown. The lady who does alterations is amazing. She worked late to get my gown to me and was sooo amazingly nice. Made adjustments to my two wedding gowns and they looked fantastic!

I loved my dress and the bridesmaids dresses that were purchased here! For the most part we had a very good experience. The dresses were purchased here, but only mine was altered there because of the price. My dress had a pretty good fit and didn't need many alterations, but the bustle was super complicated. Donna did a wonderful job with it! The girls that work there are friendly and informative. There was only one who we didn't really care for, but only had to deal with her once. I'm not sure if it was just the way they were sized or if it was the girl doing the measuring, but 4 of my 6 bridemaids needed quite a bit of altering because the dresses were sooo big in certain areas or all over. That was really our only issue. I would really recommend them!

Tip: When we were getting my dress, one of the girls mentioned something about getting a dress for less.... so I'm pretty sure that they can discount the wedding dresses to a certain degree. I would do a bit of.. "well.. I really only wanted to spend this much.." before you buy and you may save a bit of money!

Not the best dress place I went to, but they did have the dress I wanted at the best price. If you have found the dress you want and are looking for the best deal, check them out. I took my alterations somewhere else, so I cannot comment on that.

Although I did not end up buying my dress from here, I wish I did just because my consultant was so great! I don't know about the rest of you bride-to-be's out there but shopping for my dress was not a fun experience. Most of these consultants are rude and insensitive. Jennifer was amazing!! I'm still trying to justify buying my accessories from there even though I'm certain I could get a better deal elsewhere. She has great personality and was really warm and welcoming. If they are in your budget - go see Jennifer, you won't regret it!!

I purchased a wedding dress here for my destination wedding. The manager was very helpful in helping me select a gown, and also in suggesting what alterations could be done to it. The dress and alterations were very affordable. My only complaint is that the company as a whole (not the fault of the store) sends too much text message spam. I suggest that you request that your phone number and email not be used for purposes of advertising. I've already gotten married and I'm still getting multiple spam text messages with advertisements for House of Brides.

House of Brides in NAPERVILLE was great to work with. I got my bridal gown there and my consultant, Mikayla, was amazing to work with! She truly dedicated her time to just helping me find my dress. She was very honest but not pushy with me at all. I found the dress of my dreams and paid just what I had budgeted for. The manager at this location was also very helpful and kind.

I had a great time at HOB on Franklin. A friend and I went in just for my dress right after I got engaged, and Vanessa helped me narrow it down to three very different styles. She told me to come back when I had a venue and was sure of my wedding's style. When I came back I tried on all three again, even though I pretty much knew which one I wanted. My friend took tons of pics and Vanessa actually gave her advice on where to stand to get better shots. The three dresses were a wide range of prices and I did not feel pressured to buy the most expensive one at all. (I ended up getting a dress for around $600, which was the midrange of these three).
The alterations seem overpriced - $350 flat rate, regardless of how many times you come in - since I only need it taken in about an inch on each side and bustled. Dana, the seamstress, is wonderful however. She clucks over you like a mother hen and is constantly making jokes in her deadpan, heavily accented voice. When I brought my mother to my second fitting (the first time she'd seen me in a wedding dress), Dana kept her laughing so she wouldn't cry. I had to change the dates for my final fitting several times because of various personal events, but I had no problems making a new appointment.

I got my dress of the website and paid almost $200 less then I would have in the store. It was a knock off but it looked pretty much the same... just the swirls were a little different. My bride's maids all got their dress from the same website. Sizes were the same except for the neck of the bride's maid's dresses were all way too big so they had to be altered but that wasn't too big of a deal. Awesome quality and shipping was all free!!!

I used House of Brides Couture downtown for my wedding gown, bridesmaids gowns, and my alterations. I had a wonderful experience. Chyrel was my consultant and she was great. She was extremely patient and she encouraged me to try on multiple types of dresses on my visit so I could determine what would look best on my body type. If you are going to go, I would request an appointment with her since the feedback overall with the vendor seems to be mixed.

I can't remember the alterations lady's name, but she is really really good.

There are many different things that I can comment on here!

First, my bridal consultant, Jennifer S. was truly amazing. She took me off to a private area and I felt like it was just me in the store and I was her number one priority! I felt like a princess. She also made sure that she got me into every dress and that it looked amazing, even if it wasn't the dress that I chose. When I did find my dress and I was crying like a baby, she made sure that she didn't clip me into the dress and we laughed about that, but she was not pushy and I didn't seem like a nuisance to her, no matter how long it took.

The overall store I have mixed reviews on. They told me my dress would be in on 5/31 and it wasn't in until 6/14 for a 7/19 wedding. I never got a call saying that it was in or not, I had to call. The receptionist was kind of mean. Knowing that she is working with brides who may be getting nervous, she was very exasperated on the phone and even in the store when she would get off the phone, she would complain about the brides. The receptionist also didn't know much, because she gave me false information about my dress (that it wasn't in and it was, because I never got a call). I saw a lack of communication between the different departments within.

The seamstress, Toni was great. She made changes up until 3 days before the wedding for me to make sure the dress would not fall down.

I didn't think I was going to buy my dress as HOB, but I am very glad that I did, because I think I looked like a princess!

I was on a short time line to get a dress because I was out of town. Sarah helped me narrow down my choices and track the dresses. She kept us up to date on sales and ordering procedures. In two trips I had my dress picked out and placed the order. Unfortunately, by the time my dress was in, Sarah no longer worked for the company. No explanation. My mother went to pick up the dress and there was a small issue. They were expecting me and did not receive the notation that I lived out of town. Overall, I found a great dress for under $500 and was able to get it in under 6 months.

Nancy was great to work with. My budget was on the low end, and she made sure not to give me dresses to try on that I would "fall in love with and then realize are out of my budget". She gave me honest opinions as to what styles flattered me more than others. When I found "the dress" and realized it was more than I really wanted to spend, she let me know there would be a huge sale in 3 weeks and that the dress would be about $200 cheaper.

The week of the sale, she called me to confirm our appointment and let me know the sale reduced the price of the dress even more. By now, I had done some online research and realized I can buy the dress online for an additional $300 less. During our appointment, I told her I appreciated all her work and that I wanted to give her the sale, but as a bride, any sort of savings adds up. She walked away to see what she can do. When she came back, she told me she would price match for me. I was thrilled!!!

The dress took longer than expected to arrive, but that is because the designer puts dresses in the queue according to wedding date, NOT date the order was received. I called HOB a couple times asking for an update, but they were not very responsive. I still had enough time to take it to my seamstress (I didn't use their alterations dept) to bustle and alter it.

I did hear horrible things about this shop so I told them my wedding date was 2 months earlier than it really was. We were very pleased with the service we received at House of Brides. We had read a lot of negative reviews about this establishment, and were not sure how we would be treated. My daughter found her "perfect dress" right away, but needed to shop around to make sure that was the one. Each time we entered House of Brides, we were treated with respect and courtesy. By the time we went back for the final fittings, we felt like old friends with many of the employees. The woman who did the alterations was especially wonderful. The only negative was that the dress took a lot longer to come in than we were comfortable with, there were a couple of frantic phone calls when they couldn't find the dress, and the alterations had to be rushed. Other than that, it was a very good experience.

House of Brides was the FIRST place I looked for a dress and definitely did not think I'd find one on the first trip, but I did and it ended up working out perfectly for me. The pros for HoB were that it was super convenient for me, living in the city of Chicago. I could book alteration appointments easily and the woman in the alterations department, Donna, was so great to work with. She was flexible and accessible when I changed my day I wanted to pick up my dress. It was also a huge "pro" that I paid one flat rate for alterations, and had three fittings - but didn't pay any more. The con is that a few weeks after I bought my dress, I found my it at Gigi's of Mequon in Wisconsin for a few hundred dollars cheaper - but I don't know what their prices are for alterations, so being able to zip downtown for a fitting quickly in the morning and the flat rate for alterations probably outweighed the fact that the dress itself was cheaper at Gigi's. I would definitely recommend HoB in Chicago - I was very happy with it from start to finish.

I actually found my dress at a different store, and then found it online on the House of Brides website. They honored the online price, and gave me an accessory credit that helped me purchase my veil. Their selections are wonderful. The alterations department is exceptional.

I bought my dress online at www.houseofbrides.com. I got a DaVinci wedding gown for $449.00 (no tax, no shipping!) that was $699.00 in a bridal shop. The dress came in perfect condition! I ordered it in Oct. and it came in Jan. 08 so you MUST allow plenty of time for shipping however. I'm so glad I ordered it online and saved the money though!

I went here for a wedding dress at the last minute because the one I had wouldn't work. I worked with a nice salesperson, and we found a dress wiin the hour. I loved the dress, and it looked perfect.

Here is my only word of advice...they make you sign in on a computer. Do not put in your real phone number. This place spam texts every day. It's been months, and the texts won't stop. I asked them to stop, and they have not. Awful marketing scheme.

loved my bridesmaid dresses had sooooooooooooo many dresses to pick from, I found the perfect dresses that fit my wedding! they were unique and different and so many people were so impressed with them. They were awesome. It's a big company so you have to stay on top of everything. I had Marianne for my dress consultant and she made me feel beautiful and special the entire time. She was fantastic.
I had Toni for my alterations and she is a sweetheart.

There were a few things though (after months of watching say yes to the dress :)) that I had to bring up, when it should have been them, as they're the experts. For example... The bustle. There are sites you can go to to figure out how it should be done...but my mom and I had to be the ones to tell them how we wanted it done. And it broke during the night anyway. Why can't dress designers get their act together and create a way for the dress not to be suspended by two tiny threads around delicate buttons?!? ANYWAY...
And the length of the dress. She should have realized it was going to be too long. My walking 10 feet around the store was fine but she should have realized the crinoline wasn't going to be poofy all day and that it needed alterations for length.

The entire experience was great overall and I felt beautiful. A lot of people bash house of brides but I've had really good experiences there. They're worth a shot and their prices cannot be beat. Plus, it's a one stop shop with mother of bride gowns and tuxedos!

We had an all in all good experience with House of Brides. My bridesmaids and mom all got their dresses from them. They were a bit expensive in my opinion and after traveling to different stores I found that depending on what town you were in, the price on the SAME dress could be more than $50 at one location than another. We were able to negotiate with them and get them to match the online prices of the dresses, they say they cannot do this, but I am here to tell you that they can....

I got my wedding dress from here. I picked a bridesmaid's dress, and had it made in ivory. The value was unbelievable. The best part was the very affordable seamstress associated with HOB. Her name is Dana. I had some parts of the dress tweaked big time - e.g., i removed the back wing-like fabric, had beads added, etc., and she did a great job, on time, and for a whopping $90 TOTAL. Unbeatable if you're not a label freak. The only reason for the less-than 5 stars is, the selection is not quite Vogue-material, but it's good enough, and the sales people are kind of stuck-up. But who cares, I got my dress, which looked beautiful, for under $300.

There was a very large selection of dresses at House of Brides. They were great about helping me try on different dresses and giving me opinions. The price was definitely reasonable, and I was able to get my favorite dress for under $1,000. The woman who helped me was very knowledgeable and gave me one-on-one attention the entire time. The only struggle I had was getting alterations there. They apparently only have one woman who alters the dress, and she was out of town for quite a while once my dress came in. I got nervous that I wouldn't have an altered dress by the time of my wedding, but it all worked out in the long run. I would definitely go there again, but maybe give myself a couple of extra months. I only bought the dress 6 months before the wedding.

I absolutely loved my dress, and the price I paid! The only issues I had, was I purchased my dress in Sept '12, 11 months before my wedding. I was told it would arrive sometime in mid-late March. I called the end of March and was told it would not arrive until the end of April. I was traveling back to Chicagoland for my bridal shower and wanted to make arrangements to have my dress altered there. First, they did not do Saturday alterations, which I thought was odd, but they could make a special appointment, but not until after 1pm which would not work for me. I ended up having my dress shipped to Colorado, which was fine. Everything worked and it looked even better once it was tailored and fit perfectly!

I absolutely adored my dress and I thought I got it for a good price. The reason that the rating is low is for the service that I received during my appointment. I am a plus size woman and this location has an entire plus size boutique. However, I was hurried inside and told to select dresses for myself. Nothing was selected for my by the consultant. It was as if, since I was a cookie cutter size 4, she had no clue what dresses to pull for me. Then, she wouldn't come into the dressing room and help me put on the dresses. She told me she would stand outside while I put it on. She never really gave me the feeling like she wanted to be helping me. After my appointment, on the phone, she was great and couldn't have been more helpful.

I did not use the store itself but the online portion. I looked around for dresses. Picked one out and then ordered them online. I had all my girls fitted and sent their measurments online. I placed the order the day after Thanksgiving and recieved them less than a month later. It was a fast turnaround. I had no problems with the order. All the dresses fit and it was a good deal. I didn't have to pay the people in the store which is why most of the dresses cost so much. And since I shipped them to my house I recieved free shipping. It was a great experience.

I had an overall okay experience with House of Brides. I absolutely LOVED my dress. But some experiences could have been better. I have to rate the general House of Brides lower due to my poor experience at the Schaumburg location - I have to warn you ladies DO NOT go to the Schaumburg location - as they will treat you like crap. Also - do not attempt to go to any of these stores without an appointment.

I had a pleasant experience at Glen Ellyn location - I would rank about 4.2 Tracy my consultant was amazing and very honest about what looked good and what didn't. Very informative about bustles and showing me what accessories worked with the dress. Furthermore, she was very VERY honest about pricing and where/what I could do to help bring my costs down in other areas since my dress was a little more than I wanted to spend but I was in love with it.

I had a wonderful experience with their alterations department. THey were very patient with me, listened to all my concerns, and literally took me through the process one step at a time and made sure they had me ready to go for my wedding with time to spare. The dress I got was beautiful, but the service was less so. Very, very pushy. I felt like I was shopping for a used car instead of a wedding dress. I felt rushed when I wanted to take my time - also, I was able to talk the price of the dress down significantly ($500!) leading me to believe they were charging too much in the first place. I would have preferred something more laid back, customer service that lets you go at your own pace, and a fair price to begin with. But the selection can't be beat - just don't let them talk you in to something you don't want, or more than you want - you can find your accessories at better prices elsewhere.

Took forever to hem and take in the dress. When the dress was picked up it still wasn't done one week before the wedding. However, the dress was gorgeous and inexspensive.

My dress was absolutely beautiful (Satin and it had pockets!) and the price was expected compared to other stores. I thought it was a good value once I got a discount from a holiday sale. Note that it seems that they have ‘sales’ all the time. I do feel that they were lucky I found the right dress at this store though, since the experience of trying on dresses was wanting. I did not think that they helped me at all to determine what type of dress I was looking for and I was not treated like the special bride like I was at Jasmine, another large store in my area. Also I had to remind them of the discounts I had been promised multiple times throughout the process. The seamstress works very hard and I liked that I could get all alterations for one price. This way I could make sure it was perfect, granted you need to have enough time for more fittings.

While this definitely wasn't a Kleinfeld's sort of experience, it was also pretty relaxed. I knew I would have a hard time making a decision and the lady helping me wasn't pushy, which wouldn't have been helpful. They were able to get my dress in time for my wedding even though I ordered in January, and they were flexible about adding sleeves and taking off embellishments.

The service was great with my first time dress hunting. I ordered my dress 4-5 months ahead but the dresss barely got here in time. Very frustrating and stressful having to wrorry about if the dress is coming in on time.

Pros: The manager, Methia, kept it professional and was very helpful even though I was pounding on them to get teh dress in on time.

Cons: The dress took longer to come in than expected.

My bridal consultant was Nidia, who was an absolute pleasure to work with. She helped me pick an incredibly beautiful dress that was unique and perfect for my body type. I do recommend giving a fake phone number when ordering your dress or you will forever receive their promo stalker calls reminding you of their bridal dress sales

My dress did turn out wonderful and I was very happy with the results. However, the alterations were VERY expensive. My dress did not need very many alterations so I was disappointed with the flat alteration fee. My alteration appointments were rescheduled several times, but the end product was great.

I purchased a sample gown from the downtown store. I loved my dress, but after finally tracking down the designer and name, I think they inflated the original price of the dress quite a bit. They told me it was originally on sale for $2,500.00, it was probably closer to $1,200.00 new. I did pay less than that and loved the dress, so OK.
The alterations department was very no-nonsense and they took the three fittings necessary to make the dress fit properly. They were flexible with appointments, which was good.
I had a good experience overall.

I was very happy with the choice of my dress, however I was not very happy with the service they provided. He sales people were not very professional. It would take them a while to get back to me if I had a question. Also, there were not a lot of choices to choose from, but I found what I liked for a good value.

They were very nice and helpful when I was there. The only down side is that they do not provide undergarments like most other places do. When I asked is they had a slip for me to try on with my mermaid style dress, it took them a half hour to find one.

Like many of the reviews on here, I would recommend either getting your bridesmaid dresses here a year in advance or lying about your wedding date. My bridesmaid dresses came so close to the wedding date it left little room for alterations. Luckily everything worked out really when and they were super helpful when they realized how stressed it was making me. But I recommend to play it safe if you’re getting anything from here.

House of Brides has a great selection of dresses. My bridal party and I ordered my dress as well as their dresses. The biggest problem however was timeliness. When we called to get an update on approximate arrival dates, each of us received a different date. My gown did not arrive until a week before my wedding and still needed to be altered. All was well in the end but the time crunch was a little stressful!

the only bad thing i have to say for house of brides is that im not a small person and i went there saw the dress that i wanted and ordered it in my size the beginning of July 2006 yet over 2 months later i got a call from them that they cant make my dress in the size i needed - i wanted this dress and after all the going back and forth with them they said they would make the dress, if it hadnt been 2 months after the initial order i would have chosen a different dress but i loved this dress. everything after that was great - but the day of the wedding when i put the dress on it slid down, we had to pin it up so it wouldnt fall of me

They know how to flatter! Pretty much whatever dress you try on, they will tell you is the one for you! Be careful and take their advice with a grain of salt.
The prices are decent.
Expect to wait for service! They are horribly understaffed, and not that eager to help the random walk-in.

It took almost 5 months for my dresses to come. By the time my dress arrived, the wedding was only 3 weeks away, and the top of my dress was constructed really poorly. Even with 2 rounds of alterations, we couldn't get the top to fit right, and I spent the whole reception trying to make sure my tatas didn't pop out.

I purchased my dress,and bridesmaids dresses from this store.I fell in love with both my dress,and the girls’ dress!And mine was even on clearance so I got a $2000 dress for $900!The BM dresses were a little pricey,but they were very intricate and elegant,and the girls can wear them again if they choose,so the cost of those wasn't the end of the world.However,we ordered the dresses in June,and did not get them until the 2nd week in Nov.,with only about 3 or so weeks left to get alterations done before the wedding!On top of that,I had some out of state girls who had to wait for the dresses even longer because I had to pick up the dresses from the local location and ship them out of state,delaying their alterations even further.I understand that it can take a while for them to come in,and we were told initially that they'd come in at the beginning of Nov.,but the frustrating part is that all of us were calling at the end of Oct. to find out when they'd be in exactly so we could get them picked up and get them altered,and no one could tell us a thing about it because the manager was out,and they'd leave a message for her to call back.Except that she doesn't return phone calls...I had the same issue with the alterations department when trying to make my first appointment to get my dress altered.Several voicemails went un-returned,and several calls where the employee said the manager would call the next day,were never returned either.I was very pleased with my dress,and the alterations,and price of the alterations that they did on my dress,but to not return a call from a pretty freaked out bride who doesn't know,and can't find out because no one at your store knows either,when her bridesmaids dresses are going to arrive,and its 4-5 weeks before the wedding...that's not good service,and added a whole lot of unnecessary stress on my plate!Overall,good prices,nice dresses,pretty decent sized selection,just hope you don't have many questions you need answered after the fact!

The good news is that I got my dress in time for the wedding, and had a really good experience trying on dresses. Jenifer G helped me try stuff on and was really helpful. I wanted something super simple and she made some great suggestions and eventually ended up showing me a bridesmaid's dress that I ended up buying in white. I love it!
The negative part is that when you buy your dress the store sells your information to a bunch of different vendors who call, text, and flood your inbox with spam. It was really frustrating and really hard to make stop. Plus, when I called to check when my dress would be in I left three messages, all of which went unanswered, and when I finally went into the store to ask about it they said that it "should be in by the wedding." Not quite the answer I was looking for. Fortunately it came in a week later and they promptly let me know I could pick it up.

Maryanne was a sweet salesperson and the only redeeming factor of HOB other than the value. The only reason I ignored the bad reviews was because I had a personal recommendation from a friend. I feel VERY LUCKY that nothing major went wrong with my order, but, given the choice, I would not repeat my business here.

I won't go into the whole story, but HOB ordered one of my bridesmaid dresses separately (1 week later) than the rest, so the one came from a different dye lot, and they tried to blame their mistake on me! My dress came in a timely manner for my wedding, but only because Maryanne put a wedding date 3 MONTHS EARLIER than my actual wedding. The dress came 2 weeks before the wedding date that Maryanne chose. NOT COOL!

Be very, very wary and know what you're getting into. They deals are good, but I'm not sure it's worth the risk, even though my stuff came out okay!

Let me start off by saying I loved my wedding dress. It was beautiful, and Fran was amazing...she was very helpful and so nice.

Trying to get ahold of anyone at this store is like pulling teeth. No one ever calls you back when they say they would. My dress was late and I would call to find out a status and no one in the store could find tracking information. One of the times I called to speak to someone, they said they'd call the Vendor for me and call me back...3 days later, I still hadn't heard anything. I called them back and they said they still had no tracking information so that must have meant it didn't ship yet. The next day (two weeks before the wedding) the dress magically appears....weird how they couldn't find tracking information though, right?? This was/is a bride's worst nightmare.

If you are purchasing a wedding dress or bridesmaids dresses make sure you give them a fake wedding date of at least 2 months prior to the real date!

I found an amazing dress and that in the only positive thing about my experience. I bought it off the rack, but my bridesmaids dresses needed to be ordered, which didn't happen when it was supposed to, they got the dresses just in time to get altered the week before the wedding. I had complications with everything from them not giving me the right slip that I bought, not doing what they were supposed to for my alterations, the dress was never already pulled for my appointment, they said they were giving me a discount when they charged me what they had originally quoted me for things like cleaning and alterations. Many times when I asked someone a question, they acted like I was inconveniencing them. Thank GOD everything came out okay and in tie for my wedding! If I had to do it all again I don't know if I would go there again.
