    Wedding of my dreams!

Wow wow wow, is all I can say. I had my wedding here last month and it was the best night of my life. Not only is the venue STUNNING, but the crew was so professional and organized. Special shout out the our catering manager Marla and our day of wedding coordinator, Cristen. We still cannot believe how amazing and hands on these two were especially since they were "included" in our package. They were so thoughtful and detail oriented and answered every little question we had. The food was amazing, the rooms were great- everything just exceeded our expectations.

Amazing Venue with a Beautiful View

We found this gem of a location as we were supposed to get married at Wayfarers Chapel and needed a reception venue. Unfortunately, Wayfarers had to close as it was deemed unsafe due to the ground shifting; however, Tania was able to accommodate our ceremony as well. The ceremony and reception were so beautiful and words cannot describe how amazing the day and venue were. Everyone gushed about our location and the food. We did the stations package, and there was a lot of variety for everyone (highly recommend.) We got our cake from Butter and Cream as it is our local bakery, so we were very familiar with how delicious the cakes are! We loved how much the venue had included, and we loved the we were not nicked and dimed for everything like other venues we saw. We got married in the Jardin de Palmeras, and our reception was in the Miramar Ballroom.

Beautiful Venue - Beautiful Day except for one thing

The banquet staff were absolutely amazing and definitely helped make my daughter's wedding like a fairytale for sure. The food was great and the bartender was great. The venue location is beautiful inside and out. We were in the Lagunita Pavilion location. Can't speak highly enough about everything. The only downside is there is not even one bridal suite for the day of the wedding for the bridesmaids to get ready in. My daughter paid quite a bit of money to get a loft suite which we all thought would have been big enough but it wasn't and the lighting was not good either. The hotel needs at least 2 bridal suites since they can easily have 2 to 3 weddings going on in the same day. Highly recommend they take at least 2 hotel rooms and make into one bridal suite for future brides. Again the wedding itself couldn't have gone better and would do it there in a heart beat if they get bridal suites added.

    Spend your money elsewhere!

As a bride reading this, I do not have to tell you how expense hosting your wedding at a hotel venue such as Hotel Maya is. You will not be treating like a valued customer from this hotel but rather you will feel like they expect you to thank them for taking your money and allowing you host your wedding here.
Not a single interaction with this hotel staff was a positive one. Some of the issues encountered included: 1 - multiple calls where I was always told “no guarantee” and “we will see” and “call back to check later” on topics such as early check in to booked rooms and ability to pay for a comparable room the night before the wedding and not needing to move rooms when the “included room” kicked in; 2 – having to chase staff to lock in a rehearsal that couldn’t be guaranteed to held in our space, at any time until less than 2-weeks before wedding; 3 – filthy, over-priced rooms; 4 – a staff that really could care less about you as customer (multiple communications with catering manager assigned to me AND the operations director as it pertained to my stay feedback went 7-12 days without response, even when I followed up), and 5 – the response from the staff AND the operations director around the filthy rooms.
The top three things my guests liked was the officiant – no connection to Maya, our DJ – no connection to Maya, and the view – you can get basically this same view if you book The Reef across the street from the Maya (we considered The Reef, too, so I can speak to this).
Here is the detail of what occurred with the Hotel Maya the wedding weekend. After multiple calls to the hotel and speaking with people in the check in desk there, I finally was able to confirm an early check-in on Friday at 10:30 am for check-in Friday for my Saturday wedding. I booked three rooms – one that we for one night, that was to transition to the wedding suite as part of the wedding package, and two for two nights. Upon arrival at 1:45 pm, I was told only some of the rooms were ready – specifically, the one that was to transition to the wedding suite was not & wouldn’t be until normal check in time. I indicated the front desk said at 10:30 am they were ready, I waited while they checked a few things. After 15 minutes, I was told “OK, ready” making us rush to unload car and meet with notary before our 3:30 rehearsal. After rehearsal, then dinner off-site, we settled into our room where we immediately had bathroom drain issues. We just dealt with it. First mistake. The slow drain would only get worse.
Saturday, wedding morning, my room hosted the brides-maids hair and make-up. I put on my dress for a moment, then took off to change undergarments & where my dress touched the floor & had a HUGE BLACK SOOT mark. My girls went to work with Tide sticks and water as I tried to breathe through this. When they got it as good as could, we then pulled a blanket out of the closet & laid it on the floor to avoid further stress. During this, my photographer also spilled water & used a washcloth to wipe up – which also became blackened with soot/dirt! I got ready on top of the blanket & barely moved in fear of further dirt. When my hotel provided wedding planner came to gather me, I stated this room is filthy, look at the bottom of the blanket & the washcloth and my ladies had to clean my dress here (pointing to spot), they said “well your dress is going to get dirty today…” My opinion, yes, but It should NOT get dirty from the bridal suite! When returning to room, the sink stopped draining all together. My face wash, teeth brushing, and hand washing water stayed in the sink all night. No draining.
Sunday morning, I got up & walked from the bed to the bathtub. When I stepped on the bath matt, left soot/dirty feet marks on the bathmat! Just from the walk from the bed. How do I know? My feet were in socks all day in the suite and from the time I kicked off my wedding shoes until I climbed into bed on Saturday night. Frustrated, I took pictures of all these things – wash cloth, blanket, bathmat, sink. When checking out, I informed the desk of the issues and showed them the pictures and was asked “this is the comped room, right?” That was a clear statement it was OK because I didn’t pay for it. But I DID FRIDAY NIGHT!
I sent a note to the hotel Maya Sunday 9/4 evening asking for management to contact me. This email was returned Saturday 9/10. When I returned from my honeymoon I called & left a message Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday before the operations director called me back. I went over all the issues with the staff responses to multiple calls to the room filth and the front desk response to the filth, as well as the information I had collected from the two other rooms I rented and how they, as well were very dirty. Operations Director Mark Kessler’s response was “we train our staff better” and “what do you want me to do?” OMG! I said I wasn’t sure but knew I would never stay there again. He stated he was going to check into some things and call me back, though it may take a few hours. That was 9/14 and today is 9/22. Nothing! I also filed a complaint with Hilton Corp on Saturday 9/17 and they responded on Sunday 9/18 stating they were going to forward my complaint to the hotel & to give the hotel 3 days to respond. Nothing yet!
If I had to do it over again, I would have my wedding at The Reef and I and my guests stay at the Residence Inn next to the Maya. Which, by the way, I had 20 guests stay at the Residence Inn and I myself paid for three rooms there and had nothing but great interactions with their staff!

    Amazing responsiveness + helpfulness

We had an amazing experience with the event staff at Hotel Maya when we were considering them for our wedding venue. We ultimately had to go with a venue a little closer to home but Hotel Maya is 100% a beautiful hidden gem. Amazing waterfront views and amenities and wonderful value to boot. We had needed to do ethnic catering for our event and they were able to accommodate that and put together packages for us. Would recommend this venue to anyone who has a bigger wedding, has specific catering requirements, and/or wants water views! We really appreciate the time Ariel took to answer all questions, put together estimates, and show us the property (multiple times). It's truly amazing value and we're sad we couldn't make it work distance wise.

The Most Beautiful Setting for our Wedding Day

When COVID destroyed our original wedding plans, we thought our big day was never going to happen. With a lot of love and support, we were able to re-imagine our day and The Hotel Maya helped make it all possible. In a very short amount of time, we were able to re-plan our ceremony at their property. The Hotel Maya provided the most beautiful waterfront backdrop for our wedding ceremony. This was something we thought we could only dream of and it became a reality. The Hotel Maya delivered everything on our agreement with zero issues whatsoever. Thank you so much to everyone who helped create a beautiful and amazing wedding day for my husband and I. We are so grateful.

    Perfect Venue

Hotel Maya was the perfect place for our wedding. We got so many compliments on the view and location. It was like having a destination wedding without having to leave Southern California. We were surprised how reasonable everything was. The biggest highlight was our wedding coordinator Carmen. She came with our package and she was out of this world! She was incredibly professional and there was nothing that she could not handle. She elevated our experience and we cannot thank her enough.

Beautiful Location with a Great Staff!

It was a tough decision to not choose the Hotel Maya. The only reason we didn't go with Hotel Maya is because I wanted a venue hosted where I grew up, since I'll be moving to another state after my wedding. Cristen, the Catering Sales Manager and her assistant, Anna, were kind, energetic, helpful and willing to work with us on creating our dream wedding. Hotel Maya has many ceremony and reception options to choose from and the waterfront view of the ocean and the Long Beach skyline is breathtaking! Even if you think you know what you are looking for in a venue, go and check out the Hotel Maya!

    Hotel Maya's reply:

    Hi Sophia,
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review about your experience with Cristen and Anna! I've shared this with our hotel team :)
Best wishes to you and hope to welcome you to the Maya in the future!

Amazing! Had our rehearsal, wedding and reception here. Our family and friends loved it. Great location, rooms, pool and hotel area are all updated. Ashley D. and numerous others helped with planning our events and the actual day of staff were so professional. Our events were perfect! The food for the events were all from the hotel restaurant Fuego don't think there was one thing that wasn't 'worth the calories' from the breakfast buffet to Taco Tuesday to drinks and hookah everything was delicious and can't forget the endless double tree cookies!!

The hubby took me to breakfast here one day, and I absolutely fell in love with the view and knew I wanted to get married here. We had our ceremony in the Jardin (where the waterfall is), cocktail hour right next to it in Solstice, and the reception in Miramar. My main point of contact was Lisa Duncan, and I can't say anything but nice things about her. She was so incredibly patient and PROFESSIONAL. She answered all of my stupid questions and walked me through everything. It did cost a pretty penny, but the view of the Miramar at night was breathless. The food was above average (B-/C+), but, again, you are paying for the view!

Can I just say Hotel Maya blew our minds from Day 1 to our Wedding Day and beyond? Wow! Best venue ever!! We contacted Hotel Maya and spoke to Patricia who gave us a tour of the Lagunita Pavilion back in 2015 when it was still new and upcoming. The hotel is beautiful and venue was perfect for the amount of guest we were expecting. We changed our date from April 16th, 2016 to December 3rd, 2016 and they changed it with no additional cost. This made us even happier with them us we feared they would charge us for the change. The catering department is amazing an let me tell you..everyone raved about the food. Permesan artichoke balls beyond? So delicious! My now husband was in charge or room blocks and Lisa Duncan was super flexible and easy to work with. Seriously, we did not have one issue and they went above and beyond to accomadate us. Thanks to Hotel Maya, we were able to have the In n Out truck for late night snack which was a hit with our guest and has a very special meaning to us. We never got the boot out when 11pm came around, we hung out a bit and ended our night by the fire pit. Our guest had an amazing time and they continue to comment how beautiful and great the venue and services were. You simply cannot go wrong with having your wedding or next even here. 100% and more content and satisfied with their service.

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at the Hotel Maya toward the end of December 2015. It was a lovely venue with views of the Long Beach skyline and Queen Mary.

The staff were totally professional and helpful. Our on site coordinator was Ashley and she went above and beyond to provide us with great service and help out with everything we needed. She was always available when we had a question and always got back to us promptly. We felt very lucky to have her on our side and she always instilled in us a sense that everything would be handled and taken care of.

We chose to use the Jardin area for our ceremony and cocktail hour, with our reception in the Luna Solstice area. The Jardin provided a beautiful scenic backdrop for our ceremony and there was ample space for our 80 guests to sit and for our musical accompaniment to set up and play. The Luna Solstice area easily accommodated everyone and the indoor part of the space was easily used for the dance floor and a 3rd party photo booth. We also set up a coffee bar and dessert table and there was still plenty of space. It was a chillier night getting into the high 40's but it never felt overly cold thanks to plenty of space heaters. However we did tell our guests to dress warmly.

The food was amazing. We decided to have the taco bar and added the wedge salad and ceviche as sides. Everyone was raving about the food saying it was the most delicious food they have ever had at a wedding and we definitely agree!

Overall the process was extremely positive. The hotel was very gracious about securing rooms for our guests at the discounted rate even when plans had changed at the last minute. The hotel was completely booked at the time of our wedding but the booking staff worked hard to make sure we were taken care of. Without hesitation I would recommend the Hotel Maya to anyone looking for a unique and beautiful venue in Long Beach.

Hotel Maya was an excellent choice for our wedding. With a beautiful view of the Long Beach sky line, multiple area for ceremony and reception, this is a great location for a wedding. Also, very convenient having hotel rooms a few feet away for out of town guests and pre-wedding preparations.

From our first visit I fell in love. This is a one stop place. I wanted a beach wedding and they have a private beach here overlooking the marina. Patricia is our coordinator and she has been awesome really quick to reply to my ever changing questions and has an overall enjoyable personality. I can not wait to be married here!
*Update*05/16/16 Our original coordinator left and we got Ashley to replace her which I was not to excited about throughout the planning process. Overall our wedding was amazing the staff were great and accommodating. Food was amazing we did a buffet.

Wow this place is amazing!!! We selected the Maya because of the location. It's in Long Beach but feels like you're in a whole other place all together. Crystal and the staff were beyond professional. She saw to our every need. The wedding packages are fantastic. They include a lot of things that would have otherwise required us to find on our own. Don't scoff at the price minimums, if you're looking for a venue that will provide the absolute best experience for you and your guests The Hotel Maya is it!

My husband and I had our wedding in June 2014. We held our ceremony on the sand and the reception under the Esplanade. Both were outside and gorgeous! It was on the expensive side by the time everything was said and done, but so well worth it. It was nice not to have to worry about set up or clean up, which is the hard part since we were getting ready and having fun! It was definitely difficulty AFTER signing the contract to get a hold of many people, including our "appointed" coordinator. Even though it seems more expensive, it's actually worked out to be the best deal to go for the Amore package because it includes things like parking, three appetizers, and stuff. We worked out our deal to even have no open bar for an hour but instead a beer/wine/sangria bar open for TWO hours which was much appreciated by guests! And the worst experience by far was seeing that they had another REHEARSAL wedding at the same time in the beach area while we "reserved" it for our entire wedding time :/
Positives: by the beach, perfect weather, amazing food, hotel rooms included so no driving, Hilton Honors points for all cash spent
Cons: difficult for guests to find (but manageable with strict directions), $$$, hard to communicate with hotel in general
I think the main reason why this worked for our reasonably small budget is because I knew to bargain with what I needed and what I didn't...so other brides out there, it never hurts to ask for something you need/want in trade for something you don't!

Hotel Maya is such a beautiful location. I always wanted to get married on the water, but most waterfront locations were way out of my budget. I was even a little hesitant with Hotel Maya at first being a little over my budget, but it was honestly SO worth it! They took care of so much for me that made the whole planning process so much easier. My coordinator that they assigned to me was amazing. Their food was some of the best my guests have ever had at a wedding. And the day of I really didn't have much to worry about because they handled everything. I can't tell you how many compliments I received about this venue. I am SO glad I made the decision to have my wedding here. It really was awesome.

Our experience with the Hotel Maya was fantastic! Staff were helpful and attentive throughout the planning process and things went smoothly for the day of our wedding. Our guests RAVED about the views and the food. We were very satisfied. The hotel package included day of coordinator Stephanie and her assistant Holly. They were fantastic! So was our Banqueting person, Crystal.

Ceremony only - Our wedding was very simple and basic, we just wanted a beautiful, comfortable setting and that's exactly what we got. The price was much cheaper than I thought it would be, considering it is a Double tree Hotel. I liaised with Lisa Duncan for planning purposes and she was always quick to return emails and phone calls. The setup was just as we discussed and everything went beautifully. Our photographer said the hotel was a photographers dream because of all the different settings, textures, and designs that he could utilize in our pictures.
