The most amazing wedding reception venue!
We absolutely loved having our wedding reception at the Lightwell at North by Hotel Covington. The staff from start to finish made the whole entire planning process very easy! Shelby helped us book the perfect package for our needs, Riley helped us plan our details so well from menu to napkins and everything in between, Jarrett helped with day of set up and execution perfectly, and Tracy and the banquet staff were incredible!
We would highly recommend Hotel Covington - the all inclusive package makes the wedding planning process so much easier, and everyone we worked with was incredibly professional, responsive, and helpful. The food was delicious and some of our guests said it’s the best wedding food they have had! Not to mention that the Lightwell itself is such a beautiful venue - the lights above the dance floor alone are a showstopper! The Lightwell is perfect for many different sized weddings - we had 225 guests and it didn’t feel too crowded or too empty - it was ideal! Since we had many out of town guests, it worked out so well that our room block at Hotel Covington allowed them to just head upstairs at the end of the night.
My husband and I both had beautiful suites in the North by Hotel Covington side for getting ready in the morning, and the rooms were absolutely perfect for getting ready with our bridal party/bigger groupss! The Hotel Staff were all so helpful and accommodating and we couldn’t be happier that we chose the Lightwell at North Hotel Covington for our wedding reception.
Thank you to Shelby, Riley, Jarrett, Tracy and everyone else who helped us have the most perfect night!Hotel Covington's reply:

Highly recommended Hotel Covington
Hotel Covington was phenomenal! We were so happy with our wedding experience. They were so responsive, flexible, and helpful, especially Cheyenne who took care of everything for our wedding. I can express how easy they made everything leading up to the wedding and even more so on the wedding day. The staff was incredible specifically Patty and Jason who went over and above to help make our day perfect. Hotel Covington is perfect for outdoor weddings because it’s already beautiful so minimal extra decor is need! My husband and I highly recommend Hotel Covington!Hotel Covington's reply:

June Wedding at The Lightwell
We had our wedding reception in the Lightwell by Hotel Covington North and absolutely loved it. The room itself is stunning with the beautiful bar, the glass ceiling above the large dance floor, and the pool details throughout. We had 250 guests and everyone fit comfortably in the room with enough space for a live band and the buffet. The buffet dinner was fantastic and all of our guests raved about the food saying that it was some of the best “wedding food” they ever had! The bartenders and staff were great all night and they even helped clean up our decorations at the end of the night. Our guests enjoyed the discounted rate rooms and jumped on the opportunity to stay the night at Hotel Covington! We worked with Riley on all of our wedding details and she was amazing to work with! She answered our millions of questions and was accommodating to our requests to ensure that our day was super special. We would definitely recommend Hotel Covington for your wedding venue!Hotel Covington's reply:

Highly recommend The Madison & Hotel Covington!
The Madison Event Center was the perfect venue for our Wedding Day! From start to finish, The Madison team took such great care of all our needs and made us feel so special. The planning process was very easy and stress free because they offer an all-inclusive package and handle everything on site, so we didn’t have to do much. We enjoyed working with the Details Specialist, Riley. She made sure no detail was missed while offering great advice too! It was nice having Hotel Covington next door, we took advantage of the Wedding Room Block offerings, Suites to get ready in on the day of, and we even hosted our Rehearsal Dinner and Welcome Reception at the Hotel! Our family and friends loved the convenience of it all! When it came to the night of our Wedding, everything was truly perfect! The Madison provides a Banquet Captain to take care of everything throughout the night, our Captain went above and beyond our expectations. We have such beautiful memories to carry with us and are beyond thankful for The Madison & Hotel Covington bringing our dream Wedding to life! -

Perfect Rehearsal Dinner Spot
We had our rehearsal dinner in June in the Scheper Dining Room. Throughout the entire process, the communication and timeliness of your responses were impeccable. We always felt informed, supported, and valued, which significantly contributed to the smooth and stress-free planning of our rehearsal dinner. Your team's professionalism shone through in every interaction, creating a sense of confidence and trust that was incredibly reassuring during the lead-up to our special day.
On the night of our rehearsal dinner, the exceptional service and genuine joy your team displayed made the evening truly memorable. The attention to detail, the seamless execution, and the warm smiles of your staff added a special touch that did not go unnoticed. We felt taken care of and could genuinely sense the passion your team has for creating memorable experiences.
A special note of gratitude goes to Cheyenne, our main planner, who played a pivotal role in ensuring every detail was thoughtfully considered and flawlessly executed. Cheyenne's professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine enthusiasm for her work made a significant impact on the success of our rehearsal dinner. We are truly grateful for her dedication and the personal touch she brought to the planning process. -

The Most Magical Wedding Day we could have ever hoped for!
Everything from, planning meetings, tastings, set up, staffing, and breakdown was absolute perfection. I truly couldn't be more grateful for the team at Hotel Covington. Our wedding day was pure magic and it was in large part due to the seamlessness of our reception and the attentiveness of the staff. Wish I could relive this day over and over again! -

Beautiful venue with amazing staff! Highly recommend!!
We just had our wedding last week and I can not recommend HC enough! We had so many of our guests come up and say how convenient it was to have hotel, ceremony and reception at the same spot. Riley is fantastic to work with and super helpful during stressful days. Everyone from bartenders, staff, managment to front desk- top notch. Highly recommend!! Venue is beautiful and so many awesome spots to walk to!Hotel Covington's reply:

Perfect Night
We got married on the lawn/courtyard at Hotel Covington and everything was incredible. Riley and Dezaray were great to work with leading up to the event and as our day-of coordinator, respectively. The venue's beauty speaks for itself, so we barely had to decorate, but due to getting married in November, we opted for tents. The tents were clear, which made you still feel connected to the elevated design of the hotel, and we were given until the week of the wedding to decide tents or no tents, which was so helpful. We had our ceremony on the lawn, cocktail hour in the lobby while the staff flipped the lawn to become the reception and dance floor area, and then proceeded with our reception in the full courtyard. For all the logistics involved, everything went extremely smooth, and on top of that, the entire staff was truly amazing. They took time to make sure we, as well as our guests, were really taken care of--one staff member even brought out her personal jacket when my grandma mentioned she was chilly. Thank you to Hotel Covington staff for making this night unforgettable in the best way!Hotel Covington's reply:
Jillian, we appreciate your praises! Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review! Cheers to you both!

The perfect day
I cannot say how wonderful our experience was a hotel Covington enough! From start to finish Ashley and Riley were consistently there answering every question, giving me guidance in this crazy world of wedding planning. They had no issues with the many changes I made as I learned more and changed my mind. They made sure all the staff for the night of were prepared and so helpful. Everything went off perfectly for our wedding and we could not be any happier with our choice of venue. -

An Absolute Dream
I wish I could put into words how immensely thankful/grateful I am for the Hotel Covington/Madison staff. Our wedding day was better than anything I could’ve ever dreamed of. The room, the food, the staff, the experience… it was all perfect. It was a fairytale and a day that will play over and over again in my head. If you are thinking about holding your wedding at Hotel Covington/The Madison—BOOK NOW. You won’t regret it. If I could give HC more than 5 stars, I would. We help our rehearsal dinner and our ceremony at Hotel Covington and we received nothing but rave reviews. It was truly everything I ever imagined. Zoe helped turn my wedding vision into a reality. She was with us throughout the entire process, answering every little question I had and ensuring my wedding day was everything I wished for. She is truly one of the sweetest souls and it really was a joy working with her. I don’t know if I could’ve made it through COVID wedding planning without Zoe. Zoe and all of The Madison staff were so helpful in dealing with COVID protocols. I also would like to shout out Patty Cunningham, our night-of coordinator. She was absolutely amazing. She not only made sure my husband and I were taken care of all night, but also our parents. She made sure to box up each flavor of cake/cake pops and she is the only reason we got to try our wedding cake. She was our wedding night fairy godmother. Her attentiveness did not go unnoticed and she deserves all of the accolades in the worldHotel Covington's reply:
Katie, thank you so very much for taking the time to leave such a detailed and thorough review. We are so happy you had such an amazing experience - despite planning through COVID! We are so glad we played a role in such a special day. Cheers! -

Perfect Hotel and Rehearsal Dinner
If you’re looking for a hotel for your rehearsal dinner/wedding needs in the Downtown Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area, I would highly recommend considering Hotel Covington. My husband and I ended up choosing Hotel Covington for both our rehearsal dinner and our rooms/hotel block for our wedding in February 2020. Once we did a tour of the rooms at Hotel Covington, I had my heart set on staying there. The rooms are just so beautiful and create the perfect atmosphere to prepare for your wedding. The staff at Hotel Covington were so great to work with and everyone who stayed there thoroughly enjoyed their experience.
With respect to the Rehearsal Dinner, we loved the menu options available, and from a pricing perspective felt that it was a great value for the quality of food compared to some other local options. We were also so happy that the Chef and staff at Hotel Covington were able to work with us to customize the menu to meet our dietary needs. Being vegan and having about half of our rehearsal party vegan/vegetarian, it was really important to my husband and I that there were great-tasting vegan options for each of the courses. I think many places we looked at would have treated our dietary needs as an after thought and provided us with a salad, simple entrée, and no dessert. However, Hotel Covington did such a great job of working with us to pick multiple vegetarian/vegan options that anyone would be thrilled to have. The food was exceptional, the room was gorgeous (they make it so easy for you to decorate to your tastes ahead of time), and the staff was all so friendly and provided amazing service. We loved our experience with Hotel Covington and believe anyone else who would choose to stay there would have an amazing time as well.
Hotel Covington's reply:
We are so happy to hear about your experience for your rehearsal dinner, Dana! Thank you for the wonderful review! -

Dream Venue
The first and most important aspect for our wedding was to find the perfect venue. We wanted a modern, beautiful setting; but more importantly, since we were planning this from California, we wanted a venue that included everything, and Hotel Covington provided it all. We held our ceremony on the lawn and our intimate reception in Schepers' dining room, and the night was absolutely magical.
In the early stages of planning, I believe Hotel Covington was acquired by Madison Events, so there was a bit of shuffling with employees including our point of contact a few times. However, they were always completely transparent and prompt to let us know when these changes were occurring, and eventually we ended up working with Zoe Mendenhall, who was absolutely amazing to work with. No matter how many ridiculous questions I could come up with, she always cheerfully answered them and responses to emails came within a day. She truly helped to keep me sane while planning a wedding from the other side of the country. The day of the wedding, we also worked with Patty and a few others that kept the day moving along perfectly.
On top of incredible staff, the food was absolutely phenomenal. Several people told me that it was the best wedding food they had ever had, and it really was delicious. I wish I could have those chicken meatballs every day of my life! They were even able to make a few adjustments to specific items to fit our menu.
Finally, the hotel amenities were beyond perfect for accommodating our guests. We easily set up a block, so many guests stayed for the weekend. The convenience of having the wedding, a restaurant, and guest rooms all in one building can't be beat for an eventful weekend (plus you can just delete the whole "transportation" portion of your wedding budget, lol).
I could say so much more about Hotel Covington, but the main thing I want anyone reading this to know is that if you go with Hotel Covington for your wedding venue, you won't regret it. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect wedding weekend!Hotel Covington's reply:
We're glad we could help make your special day less stressful. Congratulations! Thanks for the great review, Rachel. -

November Wedding
Heather and her team at hotel Covington were nothing short of excellent. They were easy to communicate with, they were accommodating to special needs and last minute changes. Most importantly they truly listened to the vision Steve and I shared for our wedding day and then brought it to life. The day was perfect even with rainy weather. The convenience of having our ceremony and reception all at one place with easy access to guest rooms was a top priority or us. The venue at Hotel Covington allowed this to take place without any major fuss. The servers and our banquet coordinator were kind, polite and always checking on us throughout the night to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and had everything we needed. This hotel is so unique in design that our decorations were very minimal for the reception, the ballroom downstairs was cozy and really came to life when it was lit up and full of our family and friends. The photo booth at Hotel Covington was a hit with our guests, a simple iPad that had a light on it and sent images directly to guest as well as collected a gallery for all to view. Last minute we wanted to add a farewell brunch due to so many out of town guests and Heather made it happen without blinking an eye. Her experience and knowledge of the industry was so helpful as we navigated planning our wedding. The food at Hotel Covington was a big draw to us as we were choosing venues. The menu is seasonal at times - we were able to customize sides, entrees, appetizers and even custom bottles of alcohol for the father of the bride as a gift. Our guests couldn’t stop talking about how amazing the food was after the wedding. Heather exceeded all expectation in helping coordinate our day and was such a joy to work with. We highly recommend working with Hotel Covington and Heather. We look forward to many anniversary dinners and visits to Coppins Restaurant in the future.Hotel Covington's reply:

Anniversary Dinner
The planning staff were great at helping to plan our event. Riley and Zoe went above my needs to ensure everything was planned to every minor detail. The friendliness of the event staff was very pleasing. The event was setup and prepared right on time, there was no issues. The staff was so welcoming and took care of us and our guests. The space itself is gorgeous and they allowed for my decorating to be included. Overall our evening was just how we envisioned.Hotel Covington's reply:

True wedding professionals! If you’re looking for low stress planning, this is your venue!
Hotel Covington and The Madison were wonderful to work with! We hit a few small hiccups along the way, but nothing that couldn’t be overcome, and on our big day everything was perfect! We initially booked with Shelby Evans and then spent most of the planning process working with Cheyenne Upton. This is a hot ticket venue so we did have to book in January 2022 for our September 2023 wedding - just something to keep in mind!
Cheyenne was on top of all the details and made me feel secure throughout the planning process about the status of our event. Although there were still a lot of pieces we had to coordinate ourselves, Cheyenne was regularly checking in, staying up to date on our plans, and giving helpful recommendations as we went along. She seemed so genuinely excited for us throughout and I had full confidence in having her coordinating along the way!
Our only two bumps we hit were with the timeline for our day and the ballroom itself. When booking the event our ceremony was booked for 5pm-6pm and our reception was booked for 7pm-12am. When booking I had asked what would happen with the hour in between and was told it would be a cocktail hour so I thought nothing of it. When we were about a month out from the event Cheyenne reached out to let us know that it was a mistake and asked if we wanted to bump our reception up. Since we had already printed and sent invitation showing the end time as midnight we were not wanting to do this. Thankfully, Cheyenne and the event team were willing to work with us to make it right and extended our reception to be 6pm-12am at no additional cost to us.
The other bump was that in the year and a half between booking the venue and our event, renovations were done to The Crystal that we were not notified of. I discovered them when we went for our food tasting and we saw the room for the first time since booking. The room is almost fully mirrored and they had applied an antique/mercury glass effect to them that I really disliked. Unfortunately, there wasn’t anything we could do about this with the event being less than 2 months out and the other reception spaces being booked. This was disappointing, but ultimately on the day of just didn’t matter at all. I only wish we had been given a heads up at the time of renovations so that we maybe could have pivoted plans to a space that was more our aesthetic and vibe. Of all the issues to have, it was pretty minor.
Our ceremony was held on The Lawn at Hotel Covington and our reception was in The Crystal Ballroom at The Madison. We did our rehearsal on The Lawn the night prior to our wedding as well. I can’t say for certain, but I think there were at least two other weddings happening at the venue on our date. Initially this made me nervous, but you honestly could hardly tell. Our party wasn’t interrupted at all!
The Lawn is absolutely stunning and was the perfect backdrop for our ceremony! It was also a fun bonus that my room in the hotel overlooked The Lawn. This meant that as I was getting ready throughout the day I could look out and see the florists progress in setting up, I could see our guests arrive, and I could watch my husband process down the aisle with his parents (we didn’t do a first look so I was being careful to stay out of his view). I don’t know if this is always the room offered to couples marrying at the hotel, but it was called the Roebling Suite and I would recommend requesting it for this unique experience. I’ll also note that the hotel is pet friendly which was amazing! We had our dog in our wedding and she was able to stay overnight with me the night prior and with my husband and I the night of as well as hang out throughout the day getting ready. It was super convenient to have her participate in our ceremony, and then to be able to have a groomsmen drop her off up in our hotel room before heading over to the reception!
As mentioned above, our reception was in The Crystal Ballroom. It was nice to be right on the first floor and the space comfortably held our ~150 guest wedding with room to spare! I only wish the tables had been more spread out and spread further back towards the entrance of the room. They felt very cramped/close together which seemed unnecessary given all the space that was open at the end of the room towards the doorway.
We didn’t bring too many things with us to the venue as we utilized their decor, so we only had the guest book items, gift table items, seating chart, and dessert to worry about. Even so the end of the night was an absolute breeze! Our event captain helped gather everything up onto a rolling cart and walked with us over to the hotel and all the way up to our hotel room to get it put away! It truly couldn’t have been easier and we were wrapped up right on time. They even gave us a cute little gift bag with a bottle of champagne as well as some wrapped pieces of our cake for us to enjoy later!
Lastly, we did our hotel block through HC which was also a breeze! Once we had the contract set up it was quick and easy to reach out and check on the status of our block, as well as add rooms when needed for our guests. It seems like all of our guests who stayed at the hotel really enjoyed it - as did we!
Although the price tag looks steep at first glance, it ended up being on par with other more DIY venues we looked at once you factored in an outside caterer, bar services, decor rentals, tables/chairs, and linens. It was amazing to work with a venue that handled food and beverage as well as provided decor, linens, and all necessary tables and chairs. I highly recommend for couples looking to have a smoother planning experience with less moving parts from outside vendors.
Overall, we would highly recommend Hotel Covington/The Madison and would absolutely book there all over again if we could! They are true wedding professionals and were such a lovely part of our day. -

A beautiful location, but the beauty is also in the details.
Overall, our day was magical. We chose to have our Ceremony, Cocktail Hour and Reception all at Hotel Covington. We had room blocks with out-of-town guests staying, as well.
Overall:
- We had 3 different coordinators in a year. Please note that the coordinator only stays for the first 20 minutes of your reception. If you want them there the whole time, make sure you ask. Also ensure you're very detailed with the Contract.
- Be prepared for sticker shock. I went to the most expensive venue in all of Cincinnati and this place was STILL more expensive. They did reduce prices once I told them this. Loved the transparency and flexibility here.
Rehearsal:
- People were 'hanging out' in the Lawn space where we were supposed to be rehearsing. We eventually had to be the bad guy when they asked if we needed them to leave. (They had children running around, otherwise we wouldn't have cared.)
Ceremony:
- Other wedding parties were taking photos everywhere in Hotel Covington right before our wedding started. They were even taking pictures in front of our floral displays at the altar. This was our day and our display that we paid a lot of money for. The altar had personal, sentimental meaning to us. We also paid a lot of money to rent out the entire venue to ensure we were the only wedding party there that day. I understand that it's a public hotel, but I would hope for future weddings, there would be some sort of 'exclusivity' to the venue if I've rented out all the spaces. Maybe just a few hours before start time.
- The Hotel Covington social media team posted photos of our altar before our florist was done. If I were her, this is not something she likely would've wanted to put her name on as it was not complete.
- Because of all the other wedding parties, our guests had a hard time finding out where to go for the ceremony when they first arrived. My guests said it was so loud in the lobby from all of the other wedding parties, they had no idea where to go and when they asked staff members, they didn't really know either. Hotel Covington is addressing this.
- Hire a day-of coordinator! The Hotel Covington coordinator is there as your hotel point-of-contact only.
Cocktail Hour:
- Two days before the wedding, I checked to ensure wine and beer were set to be served at the Cocktail Hour. In all of the transitions, it was one other thing my new coordinator and I hadn't covered off on. Ensure you're going through every detail.
- They did ask us if we wanted to reserve lobby seating for the Cocktail Hour, but we said no. We probably should've said yes in hindsight. My pregnant friend and a friend with a surgical boot on her ankle went to sit down and said they were shooed away by a Hotel Covington staff member. It was our miss on taking the hotel's suggestion for reserving the spot.
Reception:
- Lighting/Temperature: Ensure you work with your coordinator to decide on a lighting color. We would've chosen white, but pink was automatically chosen for us. We should've asked, but were trying to celebrate our moment. We also had to track down a waiter to get him to turn the lighting down once dancing started. Hotel Covington is going to ensure they address this with future couples so they know they can adjust lighting/temperature themselves.
- Ran out of Tito's Vodka - I knew we were heavy vodka drinkers, but I guess way more than I thought. :) They ended up switching to Absolut, but I was confused why they couldn't go get more Tito's. I didn't ask because there was only 1 hour left. I'm gluten intolerant as well as a few of my guests, so Tito's was important to me. Absolut is not gluten free.
- Area wasn't ready in time - My florist requested the reception room to be ready by 7:30 am, but it wasn't ready until after 12:00 pm. Apparently there was some sort of miscommunication on the hotel's part and it ended up working out, but probably caused a lot of stress for my florist.
- Missing components of Chicken dish. Probably only something only we noticed, though. We got wonderful compliments on the food!
The Good:
- Accommodations were awesome and we so appreciated the champagne gift in our suite afterwards.
- Drinks & food overall were good - again, we got so many compliments and the bartenders were awesome!
- Staff hospitality - overall, everyone was really friendly and the dinner service went off without a hitch!
- I kept having to switch the amount of people in attendance, but they were very flexible and accommodating!
This venue is BEAUTIFUL and they have such an opportunity. Most of the details my guests didn't notice. I really want this place to be successful!

Luxurious!
I am so happy that we chose Hotel Covington to have our wedding reception at. I have been obssesed with the look and feel of this venue since I moved to the area and knew that no where else would express our style better than this place. It was goegeous and we had mostly out of town guests who stayed at the hotel and had such a special experience. I was so proud to have our friends and family stay at such a top notch hotel. The food was delicious ( people kept telling me it was the best food they every had at a wedding!) and the drinks were wonderful. Our wedding was everything I envisioned and more!!
The only reason I could not give a 5 star rating is due to communication issues. I had a very difficult time getting responses from my final contact person so I finally reached out to a supervisor and still had the same issue. However, I hired an outside event coordinator who assisted and everything turned out perfectly which is the most important thing. I would still recommend this venue for your wedding! It's one of a kind and I am overjoyed with how our wedding turned out.-

Beautiful Venue, Disappointing Quality & Service
Hotel Covington promised to set up our ceremony space yet did not have it done for our wedding. Our ceremony was delayed by over 30 minutes while guests waited in the lobby for hotel staff to hurry and decorate the courtyard. We were promised an easel for the reception to display our seating chart. No easel was provided and the seating chart was spread across our guest book table instead. We had 20 less guests than we planned and paid for, but the staff still ran out of napkins and plates during the cocktail hour. During photos, the bartender was asked to watch our bouquets and then our 5 vases and bridesmaid bouquets turned up missing, and still have not been recovered. Meanwhile, the bartender failed to cut off guests who abused the open bar. At the end of the reception, my family was tasked alone with cleaning up and removing all decorations from the ballroom.
When we stayed at the hotel, there was a Spectrum cable outage and could not access any television for the entire night.
While the venue is beautiful, it was not worth the unprofessional service and was not near what we discussed with Hotel Covington.Hotel Covington's reply:
