I had a GREAT experience with Horst. From the website and reviews, I was a bit unclear about what actually Horst was, so let me make it a bit clearer here- this is a wholesale flower shop. At Horst, you buy your flowers, vases, etc here, then you arrange them yourself for your wedding day. I went into the shop and spoke with a woman there- she made it sound SUPER easy. I bought a few flowers to play with beforehand, and after I decided that we could handle it, I purchased all of the flowers for my wedding here (with the exception of my bridal bouquet- I didn't feel brave enough- haha!). For my bridesmaid bouquets, we used hydrangeas as a base and mixed in carnations, caspia, thistle, and silver dollar eucalyptus. We then just used roses, eucalyptus, and caspia for boutennieres and hydrangeas as a base with whatever was leftover for centerpieces.
The flowers themselves were BEAUTIFUL. Unfortunately, due to poor planning on my part, most of my flowers ended up getting trashed after the wedding, but what I had leftover still looks great TEN DAYS LATER. I definitely would recommend Horst and arranging your own flowers for your wedding day- it saved me a LOT of money, and I was SO happy with the result! -

After seeing the amazing work at a friend's wedding, I used Horst to help me create some of my personal decorating touches. As a local, I was thrilled to find such a lovely company that was reasonably priced, offered a variety of services, and were very knowledgeable/helpful! -

Super easy to work with! We ordered hydrangeas and baby's breath for my wedding centerpieces and other decorations. Initially I was nervous as to what quality we would end up with, but I have to say that the flowers turned out absolutely beautiful! Everyone raved about how gorgeous the hydrangeas looked! Horst was incredible to work with for my wedding. I didn't really know what I was looking for and they were great about answering all of my questions and anticipating what I needed. They were by far the easiest to work with of all of my vendors, and the flowers were absolutely gorgeous. I would definitely recommend them for any future events! -

SUCH INCREDIBLE VALUE! I can't say enough about how beautiful our wedding flowers were! I am completely blown away by the selection Horst had for us. Lee from Horst Florist prepared the flower arrangements for our outdoor May wedding, and I cannot say enough about how BEAUTIFUL the flowers were. When she brought the bouquets into the house where I was getting ready, tears came to my eyes. She perfectly captured the color scheme of our wedding! The flowers were more beautiful than I could ever have imagined. Lee was so easy to work with through the planning process, and really understood our vision for the day. I HIGHLY recommend Lee from Horst Florist if you're looking for a knowledgeable and talented wedding florist. -

I originally was thinking that I would try to make the bouquets for my wedding myself to try to save some money. I started stressing out over all the things I was going to be DIYing and started looking for florists. I found Horst Flowers and requested a quote for my bouquet and bridesmaids' bouquets to see if I could afford to let someone else do it for me. Lee's prices are extremely affordable and my bouquets were gorgeous! They were packed up perfectly for me and they even put them in my car for me. I would definitely use them again! -

Lee Horst surpassed all our expectations with the most beautiful arrangements imaginable. Her floral designs were made to perfection and exactly what our vision was.....even more. She truly was a pleasure to work with. Lee is professional, polite and extremely talented. The arrangements she crafted matched the wedding theme precisely. She listened to our wishes intently, then went to work and built a display of flowers that you would see in a magazine. The beauty of her work surrounded us - everywhere we looked. Lee was so easy to work with! She sent us one proposal and I realized my flower dreams were bigger than our budget. I gave Lee a new budget and she adjusted our flowers to perfectly match what I wanted to see at our wedding, and what we wanted to spend. She delivered the flowers on time and all of them were fresh and beautifully arranged! Highly recommend buying your flowers from Horst and doing the arrangements yourself, if you have it in you, or using the staff to make your day beautiful! -

My grandmother wanted to make the floral arrangements for our recent November wedding. The staff at Horst were wonderful and so easy to work with! At our first visit, they allowed us to spend time looking at what they had to offer and gave us a detailed list of all flowers available, as well as told us prices for any we were remotely interested in. We put in our order just a few weeks before the wedding. When we picked up the flowers, they were so laid back and helped us to get any extras we needed. Doing the floral arrangements ourselves saved us over $1200. Highly recommended!! -

I ordered my table arrangement flowers from Horst and it was great. They have a huge selection and it was such a great deal! This was definitely the way to go for me as I had very simple table settings with just white hydrangeas. I saved a ton of money and they looked fabulous! Highly recommend! -

We were beyond thrilled with our wedding flowers! I contacted several florists but Lee just made it so easy and I am so glad we went with her as our florist. Clellen worked with me (and my budget) to get the look I wanted for my wedding day. She was professional and very good with communications. My wedding coordinator picked up the flowers the morning of the wedding and they were BREATH TAKING! We got lots of compliments and we were very pleased! -

Working with Horst Wholesale Florist and Lee Horst Puckhaber was so easy! Lee designed the bouquets, boutonnieres, and corsages for my wedding. Lee helped us save money by helping me select the appropriate flowers needed for my DIY projects (centerpieces, aisle runner, and arbor decoration). We kept our floral arrangement very simple (big tufts of gypsophila in mason jars and French buckets). Horst was great to work with! I had a few random questions (sent via email) about their flowers prior to placing my order, and they were very quick to respond. The prices were great. Everything was ready for pick up on our scheduled day. The employees were both helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend Horst for your floral needs. -

I was looking up different flower vendors, and Lee was the absolute best. Her prices are so reasonable that I could not have one complaint. She was easy to work with, and the bouquets were absolutely stunning! She did an amazing job, and my flowers were great. My cost was much lower than the other vendors I contacted. Lee made 7 bouquets and 5 corsages while I had baby's breath as my centerpieces. I would recommend Horst for anyone working with a limited budget. This place is great! -

I worked with Lee at this florist and I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. She was so great to worked with. She knew we were on a budget and gave me several options for what would work. And when you sit down and compare Horst prices to other florists…there is absolutely NO comparison. I made my own arrangements using flowers from Horst. The flowers were absolutely beautiful and lasted for about a week after my wedding - some longer than that! I will use Horst for all my future flower purchases. Their website makes ordering so easy but you can also go in and order there. Very friendly and helpful staff! -

My mom knows flowers, so I put her in charge of florals for our wedding. After talking to several other florists around Charleston, she reported being disappointed in how little they knew about flowers and the florist trade. That all changed when she spoke with Lee at Horst. Horst knows flowers like no other. While their website isn't flashy like certain downtown florists, it is an information goldmine. They not only list all of their available florals by color, they also have great videos and guides to making bouquets, boutonnieres, and corsages so you could do them yourself if you wanted to, but their prices are so good you don't need to. They are also happy to incorporate your own textiles and details into your arrangements--my mom took them bits of my old prom dress to wrap my bouquet and create pompoms for our centerpieces. All of our phone calls and emails were returned promptly and everything arrived on time and in perfect condition. I can't tell you how sad I was to leave my beautiful bouquet behind as we headed to the airport for our honeymoon-it was still in perfect condition! Great company, gorgeous flowers. Try Horst! -

I am so glad that I went to Horst for flowers and put together my own arrangements. They were extremely easy to work with over the phone, via email and in person. I spent $200 on flowers that could have easily cost $3000 from a florist. Horst advised me on the quantity that I needed and pointed out the additional accessories that would be required. I changed the order slightly two weeks prior to the wedding and they were very flexible. -

In order to save money, we ordered over 100 green hydrangeas from Horst to arrange ourselves. When we went to pick up the flowers, I was elated. The quality of the stems exceeded my expectations, and with the helpful tips the staff at Horst gave us, the flowers lasted from Wednesday through Saturday night without wilting (and hydrangeas can be prone to wilt!). No one could believe that my mom had done all the arrangements (we placed them in mint julep cups) and my bridesmaids carried the hydrangeas as well. We also bought high quality long-burning tea lights and candles from Horst and were not disappointed. Choosing Horst was one of the best, most cost-effective decisions I made during our planning process. -

I worked with Lee at Horst flowers and she was terrific! I gave her very little help with the type of flowers or what i wanted and she went above and beyond what i could have asked for! Letting her take control of the design was the best thing i could have done, i have had so many compliments on the flowers and was soooo happy! -

Lee and her team ruled! I can honestly say from the moment we met 6 months before the wedding I know she was the florist for me. She really got my vision and worked with my budget. She also suggested beautiful, cost efficient alternatives to some of the more expensive flowers I was interested in.
I showed her a sample bouquet that I loved and she made mine even better! Everything was perfect from the fiddleheads in the boutineers to the mason jars holding little window bouquets. It was amazing. We used all the flowers the next day for our brunch as well. If you are looking for someone who will truly create your vision Lee and Horst Florist is the way to go! -

We contacted Horst to provide flower arrangements for our wedding Welcome Dinner. My mother-in-law had crafted beautiful mason jar vases for each table, but since we were all traveling from other states for our Charleston wedding, she needed someone to provide and arrange the flowers into the jars day-of. Horst was recommended to us, and Lee was able to quickly provide us options and affordable pricing. She made the process very easy, accepted the jars a few days before the wedding and we were blown away when we got to the event – the flowers were gorgeous and added the perfect touch to the whole decor. They lasted well beyond that night, and made for perfect decorations in guests hotel rooms and our Farewell Brunch at the end of the weekend. Thank you Lee! -

As a DIY bride, I used Horst for the flowers for our at-home reception. They were very easy to work with and always answered my questions. We used gerber daisies and orchids that we purchased ahead of time on their internet site (which made it VERY easy). My only complaint is that one of our orchids looked a little rough which is why I deducted half of a star. I would definitely recommend them, and I'm sure that I'll use their services for flowers for other events in the future. -

Flowers turned out great!
Overall, I'm very happy with the flowers and how it turned out. Horst was responsive before the wedding and throughout the order process. My vision included lots of greenery, pink mink protea stems, roses, and one king protea stem in my bouquet. Thursday before the wedding Horst called to let me know the king protea stem didn't make it with my order. They refunded the cost of that stem, but I was bummed as it was the focal flower for my bouquet. The bouquets turned out great, and almost all of the flowers were in perfect condition. The ranunculus stems were wilted and didn't open before they were basically not usable. They're a delicate flower, so we made do. I rented the buckets to store the flowers and our hotel placed the flowers in the walk in from Thursday evening to Saturday morning. On Saturday morning, my brother went to return the buckets before they closed and he hit a little bit of traffic. I called and they were not willing to stay an extra 5 min for him to drop the buckets ($58 refunded back when the buckets were returned). They did offer the option of throwing the buckets over the fence and they'd refund my card when they opened Monday. It worked out, but was an added stress the morning of the wedding. Overall, I recommend Horst if you're looking to DIY flowers. It was relatively easy to assemble bouquets, centerpieces, boutonnières, and corsages. They carry all the supplies you'll need!-

When our flowers came in they were not quite the colors we were expecting. Horst Florist was so accommodating and switched out flowers that were not right with what they had at no additional cost. It was wonderful! -

Great wholesale florist selling some amazing beautiful flowers and other bits such as vases, flower making things etc etc. The flowers were beautiful. Judy was so sweet and very helpful! The flowers were gorgeous and reasonably priced! The only problem I had was that some of the flowers I ordered didn't come in and I wasn't notified. When I arrived they gave me some similar ones at a discounted price but they never opened. :( Regardless, I would definitely recommend them for their service and reasonable prices! Wonderful folks! -

We arranged the flowers ourselves, but ordered all our flowers through Horst. It can be difficult to decide what flowers to order without seeing them all together. They order the flowers per your request, they don't keep them on hand. We originally went in to talk to them and check out the place and the lady (maybe an owner?) was extremely helpful. When I called to order the flowers a guy answered (I think a delivery driver) and was not nearly as helpful. No big deal, I asked him be patient with all my questions and was able to place my order, but I wasn't that confident about it. Then a couple weeks before the wedding my fiance called to add onto the order and had a similar experience. Two days before the scheduled pick up I called to confirm and everything was order, except they were still trying to locate one of the flowers in a particular color. No big deal, I told them to just pick another color. Overall, we were flexible and found this company to be a great value and the flowers looked wonderful. We actually ended up ordering too many flowers and I still thought we got a great deal. -

I decided early on I wanted to do my own floral arrangements and bouquets and was directed to Horst Wholesale. Wow, what an amazing deal you can get with Horst when you create your own designs! Their website was easy to use - all I had to do was pick out which flowers I wanted, how many dozens I needed and provide a pick up date. When I arrived on my chosen day, everything was ready and waiting! Wonderful experience and would recommend to any DIY bride! -

Overall Horst was a fantastic choice as a vendor. They were very helpful when it came to how many flowers we should order for the center pieces and bouquets. The only reason I did not give them five stars is because one bunch of flowers we specifically ordered to go into my wife's bouquet looked horrible. They all looked dead. They were mixed in with the others in the buckets so we did not see them onsite or I feel certain they would have replaced them immediately. The rest of the flowers were BEAUTIFUL! I also ordered some extra flowers for an outside reception but a tropical storm came up and we had the reception indoors. Even though their policy says you pay for what you ordered they worked with me and kept some of the flowers to help us out with cost. I absolutely recommend using them!! -

I got all the flower for my centerpieces at Horst and the price was right! Their online ordering system is great and everything was ready for me to pick up. Lee Horst made my bouquets and they were exactly how I wanted them and looked wonderful. When i went to pick up my order, some of the flowers did not look as I expected and Lee came out and helped me exchange some of the one I ordered for other flowers they had available. She was very sweet, knowledgeable and helpful! -

I just used Horst Wholesale Florist for my June wedding. I had visited Horst exactly one year to the day prior to my wedding, so that we could see exactly what flower selection they might have in at the time. Although it is seasonal business and obviously subject to weather, the flowers were mostly the same.Those that we purchased were healthy and made it for three days in our home fridge.
They're selection isn't very wide, but the quality is good. If you like a very specific type of flower or arrangement, than you'd be better off going to a florist. Otherwise, we purchased many of the flower types I wanted (Peonies, roses) and arranged our bouquets and centerpieces ourselves. The prices were fabulous, and I saved over $600.00 by doing it myself, with the help of Horst. They also gave us advice on how to store and care for the flowers in the three-day interim, and had flower food on hand at a very reasonable price.
The one downside which could have been avoided: I called them a few months prior to the wedding to figure out the best day to come purchase the flowers. They told me Tuesday was the best day based on our wedding date. When we got there, the woman (not the same person I spoke to on the phone) said "It's a shame you didn't plan on coming tomorrow (Wednesday), that's when we get our deliveries in." Had we known this in advance, we would have planned accordingly.
I would use Horst again for any flower need, but I would definitely make a phone call or two to ensure the best selection based on they're freshest delivery. -

Overall, I had a good experience with Lee and enjoyed working with her before my wedding and discussing the floral arrangements. However, I was not pleased with the end result and did not particularly like the flower arrangements that were delivered. My specific requests that were made during our pre-wedding appointments were not met, and I ended up with a completely different color scheme than we had discussed. Despite this, I was still happy with the professionalism and timely delivery of the flowers. -

I ordered a large amount of flowers from Horst a few months ago to do the bouquets for a friend's wedding in Charleston. I heard lots of great reviews so I decided to get the flowers there. When I went to pick up the flowers on Thursday, the lady that was helping me said, "Did someone call and let you know that the dahlias didn't come in?" Seriously?? No one ever called me to let me know that and I was very upset - the dahlias were a huge part of the bouquets. She offered some awful peach stock flowers to replace the peach dahlias, which I took without looking at (huge mistake because they were all dead and horrible looking.) The pink peonies were completely open and on their last leg, and both the pink and cream roses were awful looking and already turning brown. I am from out of town and was on a major time crunch, so I had no other options but to use the flowers. I was extremely disappointed in the quality of the flowers and also upset that no one contacted me about the dahlias. Sadly, I would not recommend using Horst to anyone. -

Called me the week before the wedding to tell me they couldn't get my flowers, left me a voicemail asking me if I wanted the same flower in a different color. I tried calling back 4 times, no answer. Finally on the day I was supposed to pick up the flowers (day before the wedding) I called them again as a courtesy, and they demanded that I pay for them anyway. Went through the hassle of getting a mgr on the phone, who admitted there was no way they could make me pay for flowers I didn't order.
No voicemail, business hours end at 4pm everyday, only open M-F as far as I can tell. -
