A dream come true!
having my venue at the Highland Park community house was everything I could’ve ever wanted from my wedding. From the very beginning, the communication was very clear and prompt. Any questions we had were answered quickly and clearly. The venue was stunning. Had plenty of space for us to decorate and make memories. They had so much available for us to utilize in our ceremony and our reception. This was the very first venue that we ended up looking at and we were sold immediately. The vaulted ceilings beautiful French doors very well maintained lawn and flowers were all so perfect. This venue is affordable and elegant and I highly recommend having your wedding or a special occasion here.

Gorgeous Venue!!
We had our daughter’s Bat Mitzvah at HPCH last weekend. The venue was the perfect fit for our Harry Potter themed party. The arched ceilings and overall charm added to the experience. Wendy was extremely helpful and a pleasure to work with from start to finish. We highly recommend!!

The Perfect Venue
The Highland, Park, Community, House was the perfect venue for our television production. We used the ballroom space. It was very spacious with tons of charm. Wendy Horwitch was an absolute pleasure to work with. She was extremely accommodating and made our experience that much better. A unicorn venue: flexible, beautiful, and so easy to work with
We had the absolute best experience having our wedding reception at Highland Park Community House. Truly, it was perfect. We attribute that to the fact that Wendy, HPCH's Executive Director, is such a gem of a person, so easy to work with, very communicative, doesn't nickel and dime you, allows for flexibility, is accountable, and makes you feel at ease every step of the way. It's very clear that the operation at HPCH is smooth and positive because you feel it as a client. Wendy and HPCH made our vision and dream to have a 70s disco themed wedding reception a reality, and we wouldn't have been able to pull it off without Wendy and the HPCH team. We recently had our daughter's Bat Mitzvah celebration at the Highland Park Community House. It was AMAZING! The rental fee was very reasonable, which we loved. The staff was flexible and super easy to work with and the ballroom was gorgeous! Our guests were raving about the venue. Our adult guests also enjoyed a separate cocktail area which was in the living room, as they call it. It was perfect! We also had desserts in there as well. We didn't use the outdoor space but love that it's available if you would like to use it. I would highly recommend this venue for any event, large or small!

A Dream DIY Venue
I booked with HPCH in early 2019 for a September 2020 wedding that was moved to September 2021 due to COVID. Many of the original wedding plans ultimately changed with the changing situation, but never once did I regret my choice of venue. If you are a DIY couple who want to build the wedding of their dreams from the ground up, you simply could not pick a better place to do it. The venue is ultra affordable compared to other places in the area, but you would never know it looking at it! It’s a beautiful space in a beautiful area that you have full run of for the entirety of your event; no sharing with other couples! The space is large enough to accommodate a sizeable guest list, and with no required vendors, you can decide where you want to spend some money and where you want to save. The natural beauty of the venue means you don’t need to go all-out with decor to give people the “wow” factor. The extras available at no charge (different sized tables, furniture for decor, bars, easels, etc.) give you the opportunity to customize your floor plan and decor to meet your needs and the needs of your guests. Throughout the planning process, Wendy will be super responsive and helpful. On the day of, Efren will help make all your dreams come true!
We held our wedding, cocktail hour, and reception all at the venue and it was all lovely! The guests complimented the space, the DJ complimented the acoustics, the photographer complimented the many beautiful photo locations, and the caterers complimented the kitchen, so it is not an exaggeration to say that literally everyone loved this venue! For a fraction of the price of other venues in the area, HPCH is a natural choice for a budget-friendly wedding that no one will ever believe is a budget-friendly wedding!

The Highland Park Community House
I would like to start off by saying if we could give more than 5 stars for rating/review, we absolutely would.
From the first conversation we had with Wendy in obtaining more information on the venue, we knew this would be where we HAD to get married. Wendy was always responsive, eager to help, and very organized with planning. Efren was on staff the day of our reception and he was a true blessing. Very kind, accommodating and didn't hesitate to help when needed.
The venue itself is absolutely beautiful. It required minimal decoration because it already has its own unique set up from the yellow curtain on stage, to the green drapes and to the amazing chandeliers all around.
With that being said, we could not be happier with choosing the Highland Park Community House for our wedding ceremony and reception.

Great Acoustic for Musicians!
What a great space to record in! Highland Park Community House Review
My fiancé and I just booked our wedding reception with the Highland Park Community House and we could not be happier! The House is truly a hidden gem. The rental is very affordable for being located on Chicago's North Shore. And, Wendy from the House has been wonderful to work with. She has been very responsive and informative and has made the contract process seamless. She was quick to schedule a time for us to view the venue; we actually were able to go see the venue the very day we contacted her! The head of maintenance, Lorenzo, showed us around the property. He was very knowledgeable and helped us create a vision for the space. The building also has a rich history and a strong representation of community. We are very much looking forward to our wedding day and continuing to work with Wendy and staff!

One of the Best Decisions I Made
Choosing the Highland Park Community House was one of the best decisions I made during wedding planning. Not only did the large ballroom have plenty of space for our 200 person wedding, plus buffet tables and a dance floor, but the living room outside provided plenty of area in between the ceremony and reception for people to mingle and relax while the room was switched over. Wendy and Lorenzo made me feel so at ease, and I knew I could totally relax and trust them the day of the wedding. Wendy was incredible prompt in answering my emails, all my many questions, and sometimes answered back in just 10 minutes! When we arrived two days before the wedding to pre-set some decor (another rare thing to be able to do in the wedding world!), Lorenzo already had the entire floor plan laid out and was so incredibly kind and helpful. I received so many compliments on the beauty of the venue, and the location near to downtown Highland Park and Lake Michigan make for some beautiful photos, as do the beautiful windows on the venue and trees outside. Not only were HPCH’s rental prices some of the most affordable I found, but I also had the flexibility to bring in any vendor I wished, allowing me a truly customizable, unique, and dream wedding. This place is great for DIY brides. Two notes: you do have to create your own floor plan, and you do need to purchase event insurance, but both of those things were quite easy to do and Wendy can help provide recommendations and a list of preferred vendors. The venue also has an extensive list of furniture, chairs, tables, and sound equipment available to use at no extra cost. We didn’t have to rent a single piece of furniture, which was amazing.
HCPC was affordable, absolutely beautiful, wonderful location, and has an absolutely amazing staff team—I cannot say enough good things. Thank you Wendy and Lorenzo for an amazing wonderful day!

My wedding reception will take place here in a few weeks, so even though I cannot yet comment on the event itself, I just have to leave a review with how happy I have been with Highland Park Community House during the planning process. They have been very responsive in answering my questions and more than accommodating to every little request I have. They have eliminated a lot of stress I probably would have otherwise felt by being so kind throughout the whole planning process. I can't wait for my reception there! I think this is an absolutely gorgeous venue at an amazing price, and I really love that I have the ability to bring in my own decorations/vendors/etc. to make the space my own.

Perfect venue for our wedding reception!!!
We LOVED the beautiful HPCH! Everything about it was perfect: great kitchen for our caterer, a beautiful, historical venue, and a large, blank canvas that allowed us to create exactly what we envisioned. Far exceeded our expectations!

This venue was beyond amazing!!!
My husband and I are so glad we went with the HPCH for our wedding venue! The staff was beyond amazing (I don't think Wendy ever took longer than half a day to respond to any of my emails), the venue was BEAUTIFUL and exactly what we needed for our winter wedding, and it was 1/2 the price of any other venues we looked at in the city (that's with tables, chairs, AND setup included!!). If you want a beautiful venue with excellent customer service that doesn't break the bank, The Highland Park Community House is a no brainer :)

Best Day Ever! Wedding 10/20/18
We are on an absolute “high” following our daughter’s and son-in-law’s wedding this past weekend at the House! The care, cooperation and professionalism we received from Wendy and her staff were exceptional!
The Highland Park Community House is like a gem hidden away but so accessible. Architecturally beautiful but not forbidding- it was as if we were at home. Our caterer says they have the best kitchen! It was spotlessly clean as was the entire facility!
We cannot thank everyone at the HPCH for everything they did to make our celebration amazing!❤️

We used HPCH for our wedding on 7/23/17 and this review is long overdue. We couldn’t have been happier with our choice for a wedding venue. Our wedding was absolutely perfect. It is definitely the best hidden gem of the north shore of Chicago. With HPCH you get the gorgeous indoor space and the lovely large outdoor lawn, a beautiful ballroom, a stage for music with a lovely grand piano.. and the list goes on!. It’s so nice to have the foyer and living room also (we put the bar in the living room and a second on the porch). We also were able to use the multipurpose room downstairs for children with a babysitter, which our guests very much appreciated. Wendy, our main contact was amazing. She is extremely friendly, responsive, knowledgeable, reassuring, clear with pricing, makes things easy, flexible, accommodating with dropping items off early, delivery times, etc. She is more than happy to help in any way including sharing her useful vendor list. The onsite manager Lorenzo is very helpful, thoughtful, hardworking, patient and really no fuss. Our wedding was all set up outside, and it started to rain 30 min before so they had to move it all inside! Everyone worked as a team and it still ended up perfect. We absolutely loved HPCH!

This is the most perfect wedding venue in the area. The staff is easy to communicate with and they work hard to make your event perfect. Numerous rentals are included when you rent this space and it was the absolute perfect venue for us. We were able to have a beautiful garden ceremony outside and then a wonderful reception inside. Highly recommend.

This venue is incredible!! My now husband and I looked at many locations for our wedding in the Chicagoland area, but this one topped them all! They not only allowed us to rent a beautiful space, but they provided chairs, tables, sound systems, and more to make our day stress free! Not to mention, Wendy is a dream to work with! She made it easy to book a rehearsal for my wedding party last minute, allowed in the vendors we wanted, and let us have our wedding during an afternoon time slot that better fit our schedule. They set up the ceremony chairs and the rehearsal dinner layout, worked well with our wedding planner, and just made the day amazing!
I would recommend this location to everyone! Thank you thank you thank you thank you Highland Park Community House!!!

Choosing this venue and being in touch with Wendy was one of the best parts about planning our wedding. Wendy made it such an amazing experience. The venue is absolutely perfect. We loved working with Highland Park Community House for our wedding! Wendy was very helpful and always prompt with her responses to any questions, and Lorenzo the building manager was extremely professional, reliable, and helpful in receiving and safely storing our liquor, cake, and other items for the day in advance, coordinating the set-up exactly how we wanted it, and staying on-site to make sure that everything went smoothly for the duration of the event. The price is also very reasonable for a well-sized space with lovely character and charm.

Words cant describe how helpful Wendy at Highland Park community house was and how beautiful the venue was. The price was reasonable and the place was spotless. I had a garden wedding and everything was perfect! I rented this venue with no idea of exactly how I wanted things to be coordinated and Wendy helped me every step of the way. She was polite, helpful, creative and pleasant every single time. Even in a state of panic as a bride, she was amazing! The place its self was beyond what I expected and my day was beautiful. The manager Lorenzo was always very helpful and encouraging when assistance was needed. Wendy and Lorenzo was very coordinated and in tune with every detail as I described it. I would definitely have more events at this location and I have already suggested this place to four other couples that I know that is getting married as well. Thank you so very much Wendy! You truly are a wonderful woman and Im so honored with the opportunity to have met you and your staff. More events for me at this location in the near future!

This venue was perfect for our event. We actually held two different events but by utilizing two different rooms, the flow was exactly what we wanted. Wendy was a dream to work with, so easy and helpful. She made some great suggestions to help us plan which made everything even better! Lorenzo was our site Mgr for the evening and he went above and beyond to accommodate us and even helped set up! We will definitely use this venue again and again.

We hosted a shower for our son at the Community House. We rented the ballroom which is beautiful. Wendy was our contact and she was extremely helpful, courteous and quick to respond to my many questions. Lorenzo was on site for set up and help. He was very helpful and available when we needed help with additional set up and changes immediately. He also had great suggestions for how to lay everything out so the event flowed perfectly between food, beverages and guests. I would definitely rent this venue again.

We had a corporate bbq at the Highland Park Community House and could not have chosen a more perfect location! The outdoor area was so perfect and beautiful! The staff were so kind and helpful. We had space for food and tables in the yard - bar & band on the porch and yard games in the other yard area - so amazingly perfect! We had a lovely event at HP Community House -- the room has a wonderful atmosphere, more elegant than a typical hotel venue room. The staff were professional and easy to work with. And the price was very affordable -- considerably lower than many other special event venues on the North Shore. I would definitely recommend HP Community House as a special place for special events

We had our wedding here, and it was great. After viewing a number of venues in the city and getting quotes, we found Highland Park Community House. The HPCH quote included all the chairs and tables needed, as well as set up of the chairs/tables. And it was roughly half the price of city venues, which all said we were responsible for getting tables and chairs (even if it was renting directly from the venue...).
The HPCH is a lovely little spot, and it's easy to get to by car or Metra. Our wedding was DIY, and we were able to plan/decorate ourselves. We had access to the location the day before and the day of for drop off and set up. The side garden was a perfect location for an outdoor ceremony and for photos. Lorenzo, the building manager, was available on site to help before and after the event. And the venue's professional kitchen was more than what the caterers needed. Lastly, the ladies room/powder room on the first floor made for a perfect 'getting ready' room.

This was the perfect place for the wedding my daughter dreamed of. The space is beautiful and you can decorate to make it feel and look the way you dreamed of. Or not decorate at all due to the beauty of the building and grounds. You get the whole place to your self and an on-site maintenance man, Lorenzo, who is awesome to work with.

The Highland Park Strings have been offering chamber music concerts at the Community House for many years. We have found the House to be a perfect venue for these intimate concerts--with audiences approximating 200 persons. The staff is always responsive to our needs and the location can't be beat. We hope to continue for many years to come.

It was a nice, intimate setting for our Accepted Student Reception. I would definitely recommend the space to others.
The one downside is lack of projector or sound equipment in the "Living Room" space. The projector screen was provided, but projector and speakers were not. We made it work, though!

I am planning from a distance, which makes things difficult. Wendy and the HP House have been so responsive, so informative. I have no worries about my venue on my big day. It's such a relief!! I highly reccommend them to anyone.

My husband and I got engaged in January of 2015 and we were on a tight schedule when it came to planning our wedding because we were aiming to get married in the spring (when my favorite flowers, peonies, would be in season). We compared different banquet halls and venues but nothing seemed to have everything we were looking for in a reception venue. Finally we came across the community house. It is like a hidden gem! Once I went to check it out i fell in love with the house! From the location, to the layout, to the overall 'feel' of the house I knew this was the perfect place to have our reception. We had our wedding here in June of 2015. I could go on to describe the beautiful and spacious ballroom. Or the perfect industrialized kitchen, big enough to give your caterer the space needed to set everything up. Or the fact that there are enough bathrooms downstairs for your guests, plus an elevator for ones who are not able to take the stairs (or a way for your bridal party to transport upstairs for your grand entrance). These were all things we considered when looking for a venue, the functionality of it was perfect! If you're still not sure if you want to check out the house, just take 5 mins to either talk to Wendy or Lisa and you will be convinced that it is worth your time to take a look at it in person. Wendy, Lisa, and Lorenzo are not only professional but they truly care about every client, guest, and detail. Remember, the end result is only as successful as the people who help you make it happen! The Highland Park community house was PERFECT! Its a beautiful venue with lots of character and charm.
The staff there is also great. Lorenzo did an awesome job setting up the venue exactly how we asked. They also allow you to select your own vendors which was a requirement for us because we wanted a specific caterer.

The Highland Park Community House was a wonderful location for our son's wedding. It was lovely. The building has a lot of Character. THe room is filled with light during the day. We had 150 guests. Their was ample seating room and space for a large dance area. The space is affordable and provides tables and chairs inthe price. Their maintenance staff was outstanding during the planning process and during the wedding itself.
The ceremony was outside and that area was lovely as well.

I have one recommendation for you, go see the venue set up for a wedding! I was sold the moment I saw it! I checked out a second time when it was not set up and the people I was with were not sold. However, after attending our wedding, they raved about the venue and stressed they were wrong!!!

A large ballroom with high ceilings, a stage and lots of windows, the space is perfect for a DJ/dance party setup. With food in the outer rooms we were able to host 250 people. More people should know about this place!

I fell in love with HP Community House after I moved into the area and attended a meeting there. When we were looking for wedding venues, the Community House topped our list. We arranged our wedding ceremony with reception immediately following. The Community House has a grand ballroom that is stately and elegant with a stage, a lovely foyer/entry, and a side quieter living room where we stationed the bar. We were easily able to bring in our own caterer (there's a full kitchen), lighting specialist, and florist for the event. HPCH has its own sound system which allowed us to do our own iPod DJ setup. There is also a beautiful grand piano available, which added a beautiful touch to the ceremony. Executive Director, Wendy Horwitch, was efficient, responsive, and a pleasure to work with in coordinating the occasion. Lorenzo was our facilities contact and he was on hand throughout the evening. We loved how everything came together.

The Highland Park Community House is a beautiful house that dates back to the 1920s at the edge of downtown Highland Park, IL. The small staff (Lisa, Wendy and Lorenzo) are extremely easy to work with, and they are very flexible in making your even exactly what you want it to be. They have no preferred vendors that they work with, so they're perfect for a couple that wants to really customize their wedding. The venue is also very reasonably priced for such a gorgeous space. The ballroom has large windows that line two walls, so during the day, the room is filled with a glorious natural light that our photographers (and we) loved. My maid of honor was so impressed with the venue that she decided to have her wedding there next year! Highly recommended.

Wendy was extremely helpful with coordinating the event.
Lisa was very gracious and also extremely helpful.
Both accommodated special requests whenever possible. Nothing seemed too odd or difficult.
Set-up person-Lorenzo-was very willing, and able, to assist with any special needs.
If the need were to arise again, I'd definitely consider Highland Park Community House for an event.

We booked the venue 3 months out for our perfect DIY wedding. I was so happy to find a beautiful place that was within our budget. We had just under 200 but was happy that there was room for more so we were able to invite a liberal list. There was plenty of room for us. We had simple catering, nice plastic dishes, hired bar tender serving the drinks we ordered thru binnys, a great dj/band combo on the stage, we used chair covers to dress up the place a bit, but it was just so nice. There is an outside area for ceremony but since I wanted a longer catholic-like ceremony and I didn't want to make my guest hot and sweaty in July we did ceremony inside the great hall. Then we said hellos to guests in the hall and they then went to the living room for cocktails. The great hall room was turned over to the reception configuration. The booking/viewing/planning was easy. No inflated prices and hard sell here. The only thing I would recommend is that it might be beneficial to hire a good day of wedding planner/coordinator. We had a hired team of friends of friends and they were a bit overwhelmed. But overall this place was a great option for a larger DIY venue. Wendy and Lorenzo were great!!

We hosted a evening couples shower with a catered dinner, bar and sweet table. We also had a live music and dancing. The room looked fabulous--- round tables for 70 with flowers and lots of candles.. The staff could not have been more accommodating. We were able to get early access for set up. Lorenzo was present at the event to assist with lighting, set up, and host of minor things that made everything run smoothly. Lisa and Wendy handled initial contract and provided a ton of support for us. I highly recommend this beautiful venue!!!

I did little in order for the place to look beautiful; and eventhough everything was paper and plastic, it looked like a fancy celebration : )

Highland Park Community house was a wonderful space to have our wedding and reception in. We had initially planned on having our wedding ceremony outside on the lawn, but the rains forced us in. Lorenzo, the delightful and efficient custodian of the house, arranged to have it indoors and made it look like it was supposed to be indoors the whole time. A lot of the guests commented upon the elegance of the House and everybody had a great time.

"What a wonderful venue for a wedding!" That's what we felt planning this event and what we heard from quite a few of our guests. From the first contact we had with Highland Park Community House until the last, we experienced wonderful customer service, great responsiveness and a sincere desire to make this event as perfect for us as they could. The Highland Park Community House was an amazing place to have our wedding reception. My fiance and I knew that it was going to be the perfect place for our reception as soon as we walked into the ballroom. With its arched windows and arched ceiling, the clean, simple space was the perfect combination for the vintage romantic feel we wanted.
Wendy and Lisa, the coordinators for the venue, were great at scheduling a tour for us, being there so we could make our payment, and being very responsive via email and phone with any of our questions. Lorenzo, the site manager was extremely flexible with the setup configuration that we wanted and worked with our caterer so that everyone was on the same page after the venue walk-through.
We were a little nervous since there was a wedding earlier that day ending at 4pm and our cocktail hour started at 6pm, but Wendy and Lisa assured us that they were familiar with this scenario and that both weddings would not be affected by each other. They were completely right! Lorenzo made sure that the venue was immaculate and in perfect order by the time we arrived. It didn't even look like another event had taken place earlier in the day.
The value for the price was unbelievable. The entire facility belongs to you during the time you are renting it. The ballroom was perfect for dinner and dancing, while the living room and outdoor garden was ideal for our cocktail hour.
We would recommend the Highland Park Community House to anyone looking to get married in the Chicagoland/North Shore area. They made the planning process stress free and enjoyable and made sure everything ran smoothly. We couldn't have imagined a more perfect setting for one of the most important days of our lives.

Working with Wendy was wonderful, she allowed our dj/event services company (Boom Entertainment) to set up the day before our event. Wendy was incredibly flexible, professional and accommodating to our every request. I would highly recommend holding any event here at the HP Community House!

I had a great experience with the Highland Park Community House. It is a truly lovely venue. The fact that I was able to bring in any caterer, rental agency and have a local chain provide all alcoholic beverages allowed me to really strech my dollars and have a much more enhanced reception experience than I could have at a venue with "preferred" vendors. It was a wonderful event and I enjoyed the service that the team provided.

My sister's wedding reception was held here in 2000 and I thought it was the most elegant location, so in 2012, I decided to hold my wedding reception here, too, even though it was a bit further north from our ceremony which was in Evanston. The first two things that drew me to the hall are the hardwood floors & natural light. Huge, open windows made this feel like a palace, rather than a banquet hall. And since my husband & I met dancing, we needed hard wood floors. But it gets better! The entire house is rented out, so we had outside grounds for the kids to play on, and for lovely photos. The ballroom has a full stage which was great for our band. There's a living room area off the main ballroom, which is carpeted & has a home-parlor sort of feel, which is very warm & inviting. We put our bar there with some bar tables for people to get away from the band, if they wanted to talk. For all this, the price is more than reasonable. It was really easy to work with Wendy. I had so many questions & panic attacks & she was always kind & professional throughout. The day before the wedding I discovered a small difference from what had been true 12 years earlier at my sister's wedding & panicked. Wendy called me and helped me find a solution. The guests all commented about how wonderful the location was and I have already recommended it to several friends looking for sites.

We had an amazing experience using the Highland Park Community House as our reception venue. We had about 150 guests and there was so much space. We had a very spacious dancing area (important to us!) and lots of room for people to sit, eat, and drink! I keep reliving this day and I wouldn't change a thing. The House was gorgeous and it allowed us to have our dream wedding. It was very reasonably priced, we paid $2,500 for the entire day and the entire campus was included. Some other venues it cost additional to include the living room or a bridal suite. Highly recommend!

Well, my husband and I were married on August 25, 1979!!! I couldn't pull that date or enter that date above as requested because it doesn't go back 34 years!! So I fibbed.
But, just so you all know we had a fabulous reception at the Community House formerly known as The Highland Park Women's Club. The service was outstanding and the venue speaks for itself! Our band was on the Stage, we were filled to capacity and people are still talking about it. The best part was it felt like we were gathered at a home not a hall. Comfortable, Classy and the children present had a ball outside in the yard (supervised of course :0) ). How wonderful to have such an establishment in our wonderful City!

My wife and I absolutely loved this venue. We were more than satisfied that we could bring our own food and drinks, that we could decorate this was the only venue we found that was this flexible with the rules. Wendy and Lorenzo was always helpful and compromising. Overall this venue was the best I would recommend their service to for any events.

This is the second year we have used Highland Park Community House for our Annual Charity Trivia Night. They are so wonderful and helpful. Between Wendy( the coordinator) and Lorenzo ( the on-site staff) everything was taken care of quickly and professionally. It made the whole night run swiftly and smoothly. This venue is exactly what I was looking for. It is older but absolutely beautiful, and needs hardly any decorations. Plus it comes with all the tables, chairs, and furniture you would ever need with no extra cost. Plus Lorenzo was amazing and was always able to meet us and accommodate our needs.
