We contacted Liz a bit last-minute for our elopement in New York. As working grad students from Montreal, it was important to us that everything was taken care of, and we could enjoy our well-earned vacation and trust that at the end of it there would be a deeply-considered, down-to-earthly honest, but also monumental marriage ceremony worthy of a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We were looking for someone flexible, relaxed, and somewhat adventurous in their working process. Liz was a dream to work with, explaining the process thoroughly and outlining the steps involved including all relevant timelines. While she was clear and concise, she also listened to what it was we were looking for, and ended up suggesting something even better than we could have ever imagined! Thank you so much, Liz, for starting this year and this marriage off with us so wonderfully. It was epic, together in the thick of the outdoor elements! The joy and love that your words instilled in us will continue to reverberate every day of our union. -

We worked with Liz at Have Lover, Will Travel for our November 2024 wedding ceremony and honeymoon planning and WOW were we impressed!
We knew we didn't want a religious ceremony or a friend to officiate our wedding, and knew we needed lots of help to create a meaniful ceremony and officiate well to our guests. We took a chance booking Liz and her ceremony ended up being the most complimented part of our entire wedding!!
For months leading up to the wedding, Liz asked us incredibly meaningful questions about our love story and about how we wanted to share it with our friends and family. What resulted was an incredibly personal, sentimental, but ultimately light-hearted ceremony script that totally nailed who we are as a couple. Liz was able to perfectly straddle the line between having the whole room in tears one minute and laughing and cheering the next. It was the most moving ceremony I've ever been privy to.
Liz is a complete professional who guided us through everything we needed to get our marriage license, dealt well with all of our other vendors, and was dressed impeccably.
She also planned our honeymoon with the type of detailed dedication that we could've never had while also planning our wedding. She brought us amazing options, helped us narrow down our decisions, and handled all of the travel logistics so that we could basically just pack and show up to the airport.
Liz is a complete professional and frankly should/could be charging more for the tone she set for our entire night. I will 100% be recommending Have Lover, Will Travel to friends and would book her again in a heartbeat!

We worked with Liz to draft our ceremony, which our friend would be delivering during our wedding. Liz also acted as our official officiant behind the scenes. From the first emails and meetings with Liz to post-wedding day she was super responsive and easy to work with. Her process was very clear - she provided a survey we both filled out to start the first draft of our ceremony and provided templates for things like readings and ring exchange that were helpful and took the research out of the process for us, she also reviewed the vows each of us wrote on our own and gave helpful feedback. Her writing is so beautiful - she took our words and our story and wrote it into something that felt so professional and cinematic. She was also very positive and patient with us as we partnered on many many edits and comments together, including helping our unofficial officiant ensure it sounded like his voice and for me making sure it all sounded authentic to us. The final product was incredible - all our wedding guests raved about our ceremony and said it was the best they'd ever heard and for us it was the highlight of both of our days. Day-of Liz was super efficient and clear with us with the paperwork we needed to sign and with keeping us updated on the filing of our license. Thank you liz!! -

Liz made the whole ceremony planning process so enjoyable and fun to navigate. Be prepared to have many guests question you about your "friend" who officiated your wedding, and how great she was about narrating your marriage story with stories that they've never heard about.
All in all, Liz makes great effort to ensure that you feel good about whats to come. We wish she could be around for all life events! -

I cannot speak highly enough of Liz with Have Lover Will Travel. We knew that we wanted a meaningful ceremony that highlighted the importance of the marriage and our love…that the wedding wasn’t just about a party but about the incredible connection between two people that leads to a moment like that. To say that Liz accomplished this is an understatement. From the first moment we first spoke with her, it was clear that she was a storyteller, a romantic, and an artist at heart who would bring our story to life. She did just that. She crafted a ceremony that made our guests ask us how we knew her, because she so intimately encapsulated our story and love. She told our story in a way that brought us back to the beautiful moments that led us to that day and that took our guests there with us. We got neverending compliments about how beautiful, personalized, and touching our ceremony was. On top of that, working with Liz was seamless. She has such a professional and calm presence, she created a timeline and never wavered from it, and she allowed us to be as involved as we wanted in the process. As if this wasn’t enough, she went above and beyond on the actual wedding day. When our morning was turning into chaos, and I as the bride was feeling all of the stress, she arrived like a calm breath of fresh air. Her peaceful presence immediately made me feel more at ease and confident that the ceremony was going to proceed just fine. She handled the marriage license within the chaos to keep our ceremony on time, reassured us, and then presented a flawless ceremony. Liz made the actual getting married part of the wedding completely seamless and stress-free, and I am forever grateful. We had such a wonderful experience with her that we then hired her to plan our honeymoon. We are in the midst of this now and she is again exceeding expectations (will post a full review of this once done!). If you’re looking for an officiant or honeymoon planner, you are missing out if you don’t work with Liz. Seriously, this is your sign to book her now! -

Liz was our answer. Her level of care for each of her clients is unparalleled. She took the time to get to know us, what we were hoping to achieve in the ceremony, and worked fastidiously with me to perfect our wedding. She came to our rehearsal and saved the day with her calm awareness, attention to detail, and presence. The peace of mind as she also handled the paperwork is not to be discounted, but her talent with language and presentation are awe-inspiring.
Our guests commented that they wanted to know how she knew us so well. What friend was she. I like to think that while she wasn't our friend before becoming our officiant, she is now.
Something worth noting. Members of our families were skeptical that we weren't doing a church ceremony. Would it really feel like a wedding? Our two biggest critics were in tears and left saying that it was an incredibly personal, connected, and a deep blending of my husband and me, our families, and our beliefs.
We can not recommend Liz and HLWT enough. She even reached out a year later and offered to make a book with our journey and use some of our wedding photos which made us have this special and beautiful memory. -

Just as her website describes her vision and style, Liz is all of that plus more! Hiring Liz as our officiant was one of the best decisions we made in wedding planning! The process of working with Liz is so easy, fun, and seamless - she created something so beyond special that we will never forget in our lifetime. Our ceremony was the highlight of our wedding and set the tone for the rest of the night! All of our guests were so engaged throughout our ceremony and captivated by her portrayal of our love story! Liz did such a fantastic job collecting and integrating all of our memories and stories to create the most meaningful ceremony! She took the time to make sure it thoroughly represented both of us, our families, and any traditions or readings wanted throughout.

Liz was our dream wedding celebrant/officiant. We were blown away. She went over and above for us, is exceptionally talented at bringing together personal quotes about your partner and turning it into a heart-warming story, and is an incredible storyteller, writer and speaker. She put so much effort into our ceremony outline (which was a live document that we all fed into) and was receptive to any changes we had. Above all, Liz is so kind and thoughtful. My husband and I are New Zealanders and decided to elope in New York in August 2023. Given our international location, Liz offered to help us with small things we hadn't considered - printing important documents, meeting our witnesses in advance, letting us know when/how to book an appointment at the City Clerk, helping us with key moments during the day such as setting up the confetti tray/cones, and completely managing the marriage certificate process and getting this sent to NZ. We had multiple Zoom meetings and Liz even met up with us in person a couple of days out from the wedding! She understood our very relaxed "Kiwi" way of doing things which we appreciated. Our guests also commented on how lovely and talented Liz is. It really was a 10/10 experience. We are so glad we stumbled upon Liz and her business online. We would recommend Have Lover, Will Travel to ANYONE getting married (or eloping) in New York. -

Liz was the most incredible officiant we could have wished for. We found her by chance online, but as soon as we'd had our first conversation with her, we knew she was perfect for us. We were travelling from the UK for an elopement in NYC. Liz had lots of great advice for us and information on what we needed to do. She put a ton of work into our ceremony, getting to know us and our story, filling the ceremony with personal details. On the day, Liz delivered the ceremony with emotion and sincerity, making the entire thing feel entirely personal and unique to us. She communicated brilliantly, made sure we were part of the process from start to finish. and was keen to emphasise we could contact her as often as we needed to. We would not hesitate to recommend Liz to any couple. -

If you're looking for a passionate, kind and attentive officiant- look no further, Liz is the right person for the job. My fiance and I probably interviewed about 5 officiants and knew within the first 5 minutes Liz would be the one we had to hire. From our first consultation, she was so engaged to learning about who we were, how we met and what kind of wedding we wanted to have. As we approached closer to our wedding day, she sent over a questionnaire for both my fiance and I to fill out about how we met, what we loved about each other, our family and other personal information for her to put together the ceremony. About a month or so before our wedding, we did a ceremony walk through and my fiance and I immediately cried. Liz did such a beautiful job in capturing our love and story. We worked on slight edits and then she also helped us edit our vows.
On the wedding day, she was prompt and arrived for our quick walk through and helped everyone know what to expect for the actual ceremony. She made sure our marriage license was signed and mailed it out while we were on our honeymoon. She was super organized and professional. Highly recommended!! She executed flawlessly and guests couldn't stop raving about her ceremony ! -

Liz created the ceremony of our dreams! From the moment we first spoke with her, we were thrilled to know she would play an integral part in our elopement. Liz helped us with our small wedding. It was just me and my wife with 4 friends under a tree in a park in Brooklyn. I live in Sweden and my wife in Brooklyn. Liz had a zoom meeting with us to plan how we wanted our wedding and she was very flexible and heard us. She was fast at responding to emails and texts.
On the day of our wedding she had a family emergency but she still did our wedding. I told her how we met and she was blown away from our story and she got nervous like we were, she felt the love. It was the smallest ceremony ever and it was just how we wanted it. She fixed the rest with papers and just like that. We got married. If we decide to have a bigger ceremony in the future with family and friends we will definitely ask Liz if she wants to do it. She was invested in our ideas and our ceremony, and was generous in accommodating our budget and time. We absolutely recommend her to everyone that wants to get married.

We were excited to work with Liz from the moment we met with her. We loved her creative energy immediately. Her words are incredible; we laughed and teared up from the very first draft she sent us. She captured our story beautifully and the collaborative editing process was wonderful. Not only did she give us ideas for readings and options for different parts of the ceremony, but she also honored our families and backgrounds so meaningfully. Liz is so receptive to feedback and really made us feel heard and special. That carried through the entire wedding. She was thoroughly prepared, running through a checklist with us as soon as she arrived. My MIL commented, “Wow. She’s on top of it.” Even that was an understatement. People told us how incredible the ceremony was and how much of a deeper understanding and appreciation they had of our story. We found Liz via a google search for officiants in our neighbourhood. From the get-go, we were super impressed with how she positioned herself, how she thinks of her role of being an officiant and what it means to the couple. As creatives ourselves, her overall presentation was a vote of trust for us.
More importantly, she agreed to be our officiant even though we had exactly all of two days to the wedding date (yes, last-minute prep). Even with that crazy deadline, she made us extremely comfortable, put in a great deal of work in knowing our story, understanding it deeply and piecing it together so beautifully.
She's a storyteller at heart and that comes through naturally. She also ensured all our guests, including the ones on zoom from around the world were present, acknowledged and had participated in the ceremony.
We couldn't have been luckier in finding her and the fact that she was available during the holiday season.

Liz is absolutely amazing and it was such a pleasure to have her officiant our wedding. She is a poet and moved EVERYONE with her words. We received so many compliments from our guests on how unique and beautiful our ceremony was. From the first phone call I had with Liz, I knew she was the right fit for officiating our wedding. In our talks, she really listened to our vision for what we wanted for the ceremony, and she more than delivered. We decided to have a small civil ceremony in my parent’s backyard in City Island, with just 20 people total. Liz’s opening remarks were really tailored to the intimacy of the ceremony. First things first: Liz is a caring, attentive, thoughtful officiant and if you are looking for someone to tell your love story in a moving and deeply significant ceremony, I highly recommend working with her!
My husband and I are a bit of an unconventional couple: we didn't have a proposal, we'd both been wearing engagement rings on our right hands, and we chose to have an intimate elopement with only the two of us and a witness present. In searching for an officiant, we wanted to choose someone who would respect our non-traditional decisions and help turn the ceremony into something meaningful despite its simplicity. Liz was the perfect person for this task - from the first call she seemed really intrigued by our story and eager to hear more about our relationship via her questionnaire. We both wrote a LOT for our answers, but Liz took all of the best details and wove them into a 25-minute love story that swept us away and made the moment feel so special. It was a wonderful touch that she kept the parts we wrote about each other a surprise until the ceremony!
In terms of logistics, Liz was very helpful in many aspects - choosing a location in Riverside Park, recommending a photographer, editing and finalizing the ceremony, and selecting a poem to read (which she typed out on her typewriter, giving us a lovely keepsake). We were so pleased with Liz's help in making our simple ceremony exactly what we wanted it to be, and recommend her work to other couples looking to elope in NYC. -

If you are considering hiring Liz to officiate your wedding you should do it and you will not regret it. The ceremony was my favorite part of the entire day and it because of who she is. Liz creates the most beautiful words that align with who you are as a couple, gives the most meaningful ceremony that you and your family will remember forever, and does it all with grace and ease. I am a wedding vendor myself (photographer!), and to be honest, I wasn't aware of just how beautiful they can be when you have just the right person leading it who will take the time to get to know you and write the most beautiful ceremony. I heard such lovely things about her, so I didn't think twice when booking! Liz turned what I usually consider a mundane part of the day into our favorite part of our wedding.
