My husband and I looked high and low for the perfect venue in Monmouth/Ocean county and Sunset Ballroom exceeded all our expectations! The staff, maitre’d, bartenders, wedding coordinator were all amazing and very professional. The views cannot be beat!!! All my guests raved about the food, and the bridal suite is spacious. I would book my wedding here a million times over. 10/10!!!

Hands down the best wedding venue EVER! From the service, ambiance, food quality, and price - the sunset ballroom is a no brainer of a venue to host a wedding or a special event. Nancy, Beverley and Darlene are the A-TEAM here and will perfect every moment and vision you have ever thought of having for your special day. I come from a restaurant owning business along with many family members that have attended and all guests are still raving and talking about the Sunset Ballroom. This has been such a hidden gem that needs to be HEARD about because this will NOT disappoint you or anyone! The venue along with everyone has exceeded my expectations - look no further and book them!

Nancy and her team at the Sunset Ballroom helped us have the PERFECT day. They were responsive, helpful, and attentive. Nothing but great things to say.

I would like to say that our wedding was amazing on 07/19/19 @ The Sunset Ballroom in Pt. Pleasant, NJ. Nancy and Jackie were so easy to work with and were always pleasant when I called to ask questions about our wedding preparations. We had our rehearsal dinner the night before at the Wharfside Restaurant right across from the venue. The food and staff there were amazing. The day of the wedding we were so excited and couldn't wait to get married. The ceremony was beautiful. The cocktail hour was phenomenal even though we missed some of it because we were taking pictures but our guests were telling us how delicious everything was. The matre de served us so we didn't miss out on all the food. We chose the buffet style for the entree and let me tell you the food was so fresh and delicious! Every staff member were friendly and asked if we needed anything. They helped in every way especially the matre de she was so patient with me. The view of the sun setting was breathtaking. Everyone enjoyed themselves at our wedding and was raving about how good the food was and how beautiful the place looked even up to now. I definitely recommend this place if your planning a special occasion. You will love it.

From planning, to payment, to prep, to the actual event Nancy and her staff were wonderful! The view of the sunset over the river was beautiful and we were even blessed with fireworks! When I got married 30 years ago I was advised to spend money on the music and the pictures, because that's what makes memories. The food...not so much. Well at the Sunset that does NOT apply. Outstanding ingredients, preparation, and service. We are still getting compliments. (I am the FOB)

Since I was little, I knew I wanted to get married at the Lobster Shanty. The day after I got engaged, I booked our wedding date and did not even consider anywhere else. It's the most amazing place to get married! The location is breathtaking and our guests could not get enough of the view from every angle of the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. Nancy and Jackie make sure that all your questions are answered prior to your big day and also make sure to calm any nerves that you may have regarding the coordination of the event. Then the day of, Theresa is literally a mind reader. She would finish my sentences and have things ready to go before I even realized that I wanted them. She is so patient, caring, and thoughtful! She made our wedding day absolutely perfect from start to finish!

I've heard that most of the time the bride and groom are too busy to eat the food. Let me tell you, we ate a ton! The food is absolutely phenomenal and we were not missing out on that. Definitely make sure you choose the seafood sampler and the prime beef. You won't be disappointed!

One of the best parts (there are too many to count), is that everything is included. They are not going to nickle and dime you like some other places, so the price they list is the price you get. It's all included in the package! We even asked for french fries to be made at the end of the night as our favor and they were able to include that as well.

I can't say enough good things about the Lobster Shanty and, if I had to do it all over again, I would choose them in a heartbeat (again)! If you have your wedding there, you will have the best night of your life!

Everyone at the Sunset Ballroom was wonderful to work with! I emailed Nancy a million questions and she always got back to me quickly without seeming annoyed. Jackie was a great help when we had meetings at the venue and Theresa was the best Maitre d' we could have asked for! Our guest raved about the plentiful cocktail hour and a few guests said that this was the best wedding food they had ever had! The room is spacious, the bar area is huge, and when it rained on our big day it was easy to quickly move the ceremony indoors on a last minute's notice! I would 100% recommend the Sunset Ballroom!

The Sunset Ballroom is just an amazing place to have your wedding. The ballroom has huge windows that overlook the water. The food was amazing my guests where raving for days after the wedding about the food. All questions and concerns I had leading up to the wedding where always answered promptly. I was even able to email pictures to them to show exactly how I wanted a specific decoration set up. I would also like to say how awesome my maitre d Teresa was. She was so on top of things and so attentive to me that day and even helped bustle my dress. I highly recommend booking this venue you will not regret it!!!

I had my wedding on October 15, 2016 at The Sunset Ballroom. I can't say enough about how much of an amazing experience I had from day one until my wedding day. Nancy, the banquet manager was always available to answer all ( and I had a lot ) of my questions. She was kind, patient and very professional. The week prior to my wedding I met with Nancy to go over details of my wedding day. She reviewed every single detail with me which made me feel comfortable and at ease. As a bride this was huge for me. The day of the wedding came and I was blown away by my super attentive, kind, knowledgable maitre d' Theresa. She was so helpful throughout the night assisting me with my dress, bringing my husband and I food and drinks, constantly updating us on the events of the night, packing us food to take home, etc. I can go on and on! She blew away any expectations I could ever have.
All night long I was complimented on how delicious the food was and how attentive the staff was. I would highly reccomend any bride that is looking to find their perfect venue to look no further and be confident when choosing The Sunset Ballroom.

I can't say enough good things about this venue!! Leading up to our wedding day, I probably called Nancy 20 times. Each time, she was super patient with me and answered all of our questions. We met with Jackie for our final meeting and she was great, too. She showed us exactly how the night would go, where everything would be placed, and worked with us when we needed to add an extra display table. On the day of the wedding, everything was absolutely perfect! The venue is absolutely beautiful. The water views, the chandeliers, the centerpieces, everything! The cocktail hour room was great, too! Guests loved going outside in the nice weather. The sunset was also absolutely breathtaking on our wedding day. Theresa, the maitre'd (not sure I spelled that correctly) was AMAZING!!!! I've never met someone so attentive who knew our every request before we even asked. At one point, my husband and I sat down to eat and as I was saying to him "darn, we missed the crab cake appetizer", Theresa was on her way to our table with fresh hot ones for us! She got us drinks all night, tended to our parents, and kept everyone organized. And she set up the room exactly how I pictured it, everything was so beautiful. Theresa really is one-of-a-kind and kept everything super stress-free. Even our photographer said to me "I've been doing weddings for 10 years and she is hands-down the best maitre-d I've ever seen". We are so happy we chose The Sunset Ballroom for our wedding!! We wish we could relive our wedding day over and over again!

My bridal shower and my rehearsal dinner were at the Lobster Shanty, and both were excellent. The food is very good and plentiful -- fresh and NOT pre-packaged. The view is wonderful, probably the best at the Jersey Shore in my humble opinion, and the staff is lovely. I would highly recommend it for any shower or dinner party!

Sunset Ballroom was the last place we checked out after spending a day visiting venues along the Jersey Shore. We knew we wanted something on the water or on the beach. By the time, we got to Sunset Ballroom, we were tired and almost didn't go in but we are so glad we did. The place looks smaller from outside but when we walked in, it was much larger than we expected. We fell in love immediately. The reception room is amazing with windows along two walls and beautiful views. The bar area is so big and also beautiful. The cocktail hour is indoors as well as outdoors where you find a bar in both locations as well as tables. There is a wrap around deck which extends from the cocktail hour all the way around to the reception area. Our guests loved checking out the views from the wrap around deck especially around sunset. After our first visit, we knew Sunset Ballroom was the place and we booked it immediately which was 1 1/2 years before our wedding date. Along the way, Nancy answered all my questions and was so helpful. When we did our taste testing, we were amazed by the portions and the food was so delicious. We ended up picking the lobster bisque, seafood sampler, filet mignon and chicken saltimbocca under the supreme wedding package. The cocktail hour had so much food and the guests raved about everything. They were also raving about the dinner as well. Our maitre'd Theresa was awesome and she kept making me laugh. She was so helpful and made sure everything was OK. She also made sure our drinks were never empty. The wedding cake (as well as a viennese table) was included in the package through Mueller's Bakery. The cake was so beautiful and delicious. Overall, we think Sunset Ballroom was a wonderful place to have a wedding. The views and service were outstanding. It was so easy having everything included in the package price including tax and tips. We never had to worry about unexpected costs. I definitely recommend having a wedding at Sunset Ballroom.

The views from the Sunset Ballroom are amazing enough to rank 5 stars. The staff (Nancy & Jackie) were so wonderful to work with, and really listened to what we wanted and helped us put together the most prefect evening. Our guest raved about the food (which was plentiful!) and the bartender was quick with getting everyone their drinks. I would highly recommend JB's Lobster Shanty to anyone!

The Sunset Ballroom exceeded all of our expectations on our wedding day! Our maitre d', Theresa, was extremely attentive and the staff was helpful the entire night. In the set up of our personal items, there was great attention to detail and the room looked absolutely beautiful! From the cocktail hour to the entrees, the food was AMAZING! We chose the seafood sampler, prime rib, and chicken saltimbocca as entrees and it was some of the best food we've ever eaten. Our guests were not only blown away by the food, but also by the views, atmosphere, and overall service.

I cannot say enough good things about Nancy and her team at the Lobster Shanty. I now recommend them to everyone! I still cannot believe the value and quality of our wedding. I was an even planner for 5 years and this was one of the absolute best venues I've ever worked with. I could not have picked a better place for our wedding reception! Nancy answered every single one of the 100+ emails I sent in a timely fashion. Set up was perfect with little instruction from me. And everyone is still raving about the food! All in all, best wedding venue!

From the moment I stepped into Sunset Ballroom, I knew it would be my wedding venue. The ceilings are high and there are gorgeous chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. There is a ton of light that floods the ballroom during the day and at night, you can watch the boats dock. The most romantic location for a wedding celebration! Nancy helped us prepare everything, and was always available via email or phone to discuss all the details. Theresa was our maitre d' was Theresa and she was fantastic as well. She was very attentive and constantly refilled our drinks without us even knowing. My guests are still talking about how good the food was, like the mound of shrimp at the cocktail hour. Thank You Sunset Ballroom for giving me an evening full of wonderful memories!

I can't say enough goods things about our whole experience! They took care of every detail just as we wanted The food was delicious and plentiful..the help was super friendly and helpful in every way It made for a perfect day! Nancy took the time to ask many questions..all to have a perfect event!

Our wedding at the Lobster Shanty was unbelievable! First of all it is a beautiful venue and the weather and sunset we had were amazing. We were able to take pictures on the balcony outside and got some amazing photos! The staff and our maitre'd were absolutely on point! I didn't even know half of the awesome things Theresa did for us until after the wedding was over, that's how seamless the night went! The bar area being a separate space allowed people to get drinks and stop in our photobooth without crowding the ballroom. We had 160 people there and there was definitely enough space for everyone. We had a Friday night wedding and did the deluxe package and EVERYONE said how great the food was!! I HIGHLY recommend the Lobster Shanty. The price can't be beat!!! Love, love, love!!!

Nancy is absolutely fabulous at what she does! Every question was answered immediately and thoroughly. The meal tasting was incredible, the portions are large and delicious. We were allowed to drop off all of our stuff two days before ensuring that we had everything and nothing was forgotten. We set up a table to see if we would like the way it looked. The tables were set up perfectly!!! Exactly what I wanted. Theresa was awesome on the day of! She warmed our soup for us because it was cold by the time we got to it (without asking)! She had the drinks we wanted handed to us when she saw we didn't have one. She helped make the flow of the whole night flawless and smooth. She even helped the girls bustle my dress! The room itself is breathtaking, the water view and outdoor deck is awesome as well! Could not be happier, I had my dream wedding!

I'll try to keep this review short, but there are so many great reasons why you should book your wedding at the Sunset Ballroom.

The Atmosphere is amazing. The room is absolutely gorgeous! The windows line the room with a great water view of the Pt. Pleasant inlet, which adds to the beauty of the room itself. The actual room and bar area are very well kept and there is a great flow to the room. There is even a nice deck walkway that surrounds the room, for your guests to get some fresh air or just enjoy the great water view a little closer. It also made for great pictures of me and my wife throughout the evening.

The Food is AMAZING! We have only been married 3 days so far, and we have heard so many compliments on the food. Everyone enjoyed the cocktail hour options and stations. They have so many food options to choose from, we actually had a very hard time narrowing down what our cocktail hour and entree options would be for our guests. The Entree portions are HUGE. Your guests definitely wont leave hungry.

The last and most important reason to book Sunset Ballroom, is the STAFF. They were extremely attentive and absolutely amazing. From the time you book, until your wedding reception is over, they make sure every detail goes noticed and every thing you asked for is fulfilled. They go above and beyond to ensure that your wedding reception is absolutely perfect. My wife and I could not be more satisfied with the entire staff! They truly made our day PERFECT!

If you're looking for great food, a gorgeous water-view ballroom, and AMAZING staff, than look no further than The Sunset Ballroom. You won't be disappointed!

The Sunset Ballroom was the most perfect place for our wedding. It has an amazing amount of space and fit our 185 guests, our photo booth, buffet dinner, dance floor, and cake extremely well. Nancy and Jackie were fabulous to work with. They answered all our questions in a timely fashion and allowed us to bring in our props for the reception (centerpieces, accents, signs, etc.) the Tuesday before our wedding and already were setting the tables. We also had our wedding flowers delivered there because we knew they would be in safe hands and we were getting married on the beach. Additionally, the weather was 50/50 for the day of the wedding. Nancy had our back up plan of having the ceremony inside the reception hall on hold, but we ended up not needing it and made that call around 11am before our 5pm ceremony. Nancy was accommodating, and put our minds at ease.

On the day of, our Maitre’ D was wonderful. She made sure that we had everything we needed like water, or our signature drink from the bar. More importantly, she made sure that we ate, brought over plates with every course that we had picked out, and was especially concerned that my lobster tails were fired at exactly the right moment. She did an amazing job.

We had our wedding here on a Sunday evening in May. The staff was incredibly accommodating and made the prep for the day as well as the wedding smooth and enjoyable. The food was amazing and in abundance. I have a picky family that has an appetite and they were not only satisfied but truly blown away. I searched far and wide along the Jersey Shore for the best value in food, location, and elegance of the space, and this was truly the best deal out there. We chose to do fresh flowers but it's not necessary as theirs are really beautiful. I highly recommend this place. You can make the ballroom extremely elegant and formal or tone it down to be more beachy. It is the perfect Jersey wedding location!

From the moment we walked into the ballroom for our initial visit I knew that this venue was going to be our wedding reception site, it's simply beautiful! Jackie and Nancy took care of us from the get go and the maitre d that evening, Trisha, was amazing! She got so many compliments from my friends and family. I couldn't have been happier and highly recommend The Sunset Ballroom not only for its fantastic food but also it's fantastic service!!

Every aspect of our event was outstanding thanks to the wonderful people at the venue! From the moment Nancy showed us around until one year later at our daughter’s wedding reception, everything was handled in the most courteous and professional manner .Our maître d’, Theresa, was amazing with her attention to detail and friendly personality. She made sure the entire wedding ran smoothly. Thanks to her, my daughter’s wedding day felt very special. I am so thankful to everyone at the Lobster Shanty Sunset Ballroom who helped to make the entire wedding experience fun as well as spectacular. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone who is considering having their wedding reception in the Point Pleasant Beach area.

My husband and I had our wedding reception at the Sunset Ballroom and it was truely amazing! First of all the price for what you are getting here and the quality seriously cannot be beat! The food was Amazing! Everyone kept saying how much food we had and how great it was!

Nancy was amazing to deal with as she answered every one of my annoying questions! The Venue is so flexible with letting you decorate as you wish and will do so much to make everything work to your vision. Theresa was so amazing the night of the wedding she went above and beyond for my husband and I. I cannot say enough about how beautiful, amazing and special this place is. You will not go wrong! Nancy was a pleasure to work with. She was prompt and helpful, and got back to me quickly about every single tiny detail question I had throughout the past year. There is no better "bang for your buck" than here. The food was AMAZING, and the portions were huge. Our guests RAVED about the food.

Theresa, our maitre'd, was INCREDIBLE. (Thank you Theresa!!!) She kept our glasses full the entire night, and brought us individual plates of food to make sure we were able to eat. I cannot say enough about the staff and how well they treated everyone.

As soon as my husband and I walked into the Sunset Ballroom, we knew it was the place we wanted to have our wedding. We were actually giddy with delight after we left! The prices are extremely reasonable for the food quality and the place is beautiful!
We worked with Nancy who was very kind and helpful to my family throughout the process. I felt like I was constantly E-mailing Nancy with questions and checking on on things, but she always assured me I was not a bother and answered my questions promptly.
When we went for our food tasting, we were amazed at how good the food was, and our guests also told us after our wedding how delicious everything tasted!
The day before my wedding I dropped off all of my decorations and wrote specific directions for where things needed to be. The Sunset Ballroom staff followed all my notes along with my florist and made everything look perfect and beautiful!
That night my Maiter De was Theresa, and she was amazing! She was intuitive to our needs all night long and was so sweet. She helped bustle my dress for my maid-of-honor and always had glass of water or drink waiting for us throughout the night.
We are so happy we picked the Sunset Ballroom! It was the type of place I always envisioned my wedding to be, and I was so happy with how everything turned out!
I would certainly recommend this venue to someone planning a wedding. I also would recommend spending the extra money to get the chair covers! We barely could budget them, so we asked for them as a gift from our family, and they transformed the room to look even more beautiful that night! My husband and I searched high and low for the venue of our dreams. Our original venue fell through due to renovations not being completed on time. We decided to retrace our steps and go back to the venues that we liked the most. We saw The Sunset Ballroom during a bridal show and fell in love with the location, view, and setup. The price is something you can’t pass up for all of the delicious foods you get and amazing cake! We had many different requests that we were confident would be met!

The day of our wedding was absolutely amazing! The price was one of the best for the type of venue and for the amount of food that was included in the package. The food was amazing! Our guests are still reaching out to us to let us know how good the food was and the dessert. No one left hungry! In fact, a few guests left with doggy bags since they were not able to finish their food. The staff was polite and took care of not only my husband and myself, but also every single guest that was at our wedding! They made sure everyone was enjoying themselves and did everything they could for us. We highly recommend The Sunset Ballroom! You will not be disappointed and you will have the time of your life without being worried about the little things that happen at a wedding!

We looked all over for a beautiful venue that was in our price range. A friend of mine told me about The Sunset Ballroom. I made the appointment and the rest was history. We met with Jackie on a Saturday morning. She was so nice and knowledgeable. The ballroom was gorgeous! Our wedding day it was even more gorgeous! Leading up to our wedding day I would email Nancy questions- Nancy & Jackie were both saints b/c I had ton of questions what seemed like alllll the time! The food was absolutely spectacular!!! My guests couldn't stop talking about the food, the ceremony (we got married at the venue) the room decor and of course the view. I'm still getting comments about how much my guests loved the SunsetBallroom and I got married 3 weeks ago. My maître de was phenomenal!! YOU WILL NOT be disappointed!

Our wedding reception was the first weekend of September 2014. I can't say enough about our wonderful experience with The Lobster Shanty. From the first day we toured The Sunset Ballroom to the end of the reception, the staff at The Lobster Shanty went above and beyond to make sure that everything was perfect.

Nancy, the banquet manager, was so easy to work with. She was extremely professional, always responding quickly to any emails and questions. She was open to all of our ideas, and very flexible in allowing us to bring our own personal touches. She was extremely organized, and made sure that all of our visions were executed flawlessly.

Theresa, the maitre d', was amazing. She made sure that every part of the reception went smoothly, including some last minute changes to the introductions. She was so pleasant and friendly throughout the entire night, and somehow always kept our drinks full without us even noticing.

We got many, many compliments from our guests throughout the night, and even now (over a month later), about the friendliness of the staff at The Lobster Shanty. The servers and bartenders (especially the bartenders) were fun and accommodating. Not one of our guests had a complaint about the night.

Overall, our wedding reception was absolutely perfect, even better than we had hoped. We would absolutely recommend The Sunset Ballroom to anyone. Our only complaint is that we wish we could do it all over again!

I got married this past weekend and I can't say enough about the Sunset Ballroom, the management and everyone that works there. Nancy was very quick to reply to my emails and very flexible on times to meet and my ideas on how to decorate both the cocktail room and reception room. They let me move items from one room to the other and they did it without me or my guests even knowing!

The venue itself is gorgeous, the ballroom is impeccable and the windows facing the Manasquan River sets it apart from all other beach/water venues. The food was absolutely delicious! The bartenders were also wonderful and my guests commented on how they didn't have to wait at all for a cocktail - they also perfected my signature drink!

Theresa, the Maitre D was so incredible. I had a bunch of hiccups with my limo bus and dress and when I got to bridal suite, Theresa immediately got my mother and my mom's friend who is a seamstress! Throughout the night she was by my side and so helpful to both me and my parents. My bustle kept coming undone and she was there multiple times re-doing it and then pinning it up. She coordinated our sparkler exit and most importantly ALWAYS had a cold drink for us waiting on our table. She was so wonderful and they day would not have been as smooth without her! THANK YOU SO MUCH SUNSET BALLROOM for helping me create the wedding of my dreams!

We had a fabulous time at the Sunset Ballroom. Our guests were very happy with the food and service. The venue is a perfect spot on the water for a great price! Highly recommended!

We had our wedding reception here and it was absolutely beautiful. The reception room has big picture windows (from floor to ceiling) that overlooks the Manasquan River. You have your reception there in the evening, while the sun is setting over the water and boats are going by. It's extremely picturesque. Many people commented on it. Both the location for cocktail hour and the reception have outdoor areas; there is even an outdoor bar for cocktail hour which is perfect for the summer.

The packages range from 110 - 140 a head. The food is abundant; everyone felt stuffed by the end. However, the quality of the food is outstanding. People could not stop talking about how amazing the food was. The stand-out dish was the seafood sampler (no extra cost) which includes a lobster tail, shrimp, scallops, and stuffed fish (sole or flounder maybe?) The side dishes are a whipped baked potato and green beans with almonds. The scallops were to-die-for... the seafood sampler was the dish most ordered and most raved about. Also - the lobster bisque!! Also no extra cost. People have said they have never seen wedding food like that.

The rooms are elegant and large but have an intimate feeling. The planner there (Nancy) and the maitre'd (Teresa) were so incredibly helpful and kind. They let us bring in lots of our own things to personalize the space and make the wedding our own. There was room for a photo booth. Never before have I felt so accommodated and pampered! All night, Teresa was getting us water, drinks, food, etc. and taking care of us. When we forgot to eat, she reminded us to, and she gave us time to dance. She was so awesome.

We will be returning here every year for our anniversary. Love love this place!! Strongly recommend!

An absolutely perfect day! From the start when we reached out to Nancy and her team, not one email or phone call went more than a day without a response! They are so professional at the Sunset Ballroom and accommodating. The food is delicious, the view is amazing...you really get your money's worth here! Thank you so much Nancy, for helping us plan a perfect reception! I also have to thank Theresa, our Maitre d that night; She was on the floor, pinning up my dress when I realized I wouldn't be able to do our first dance in it. She told us when the dinner was served so we could eat and we never went without a drink on our table or in our hand; Whatever we needed, she took care of it. Our families enjoyed every minute. THANK YOU, LOBSTER SHANTY!

Our wedding at the sunset ballroom was perfect! The maître'd went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly. Nancy (the banquet manager) answered all my questions through email and meetings prior to the wedding. Everything was set up just the way we asked. They even allowed the reception to run a little late because our limo caused us to be late getting back to the reception. Guests have been telling us non-stop how beautiful our venue was and how delicious the food was. I would definitely recommend this venue to any future brides.

I could not be happier with the service provided by the Sunset Ballroom. When looking for a venue we looked EVERYWHERE, Sunset Ballroom was our first choice but we wanted to see other options. Regarding pricing, quality and appearance there was not 1 venue that compared. Their pricing includes all taxes/fees/tips making it MUCH easier to stick to 'what you want to spend' per person, they offer cheaper rates for out of season weddings and although ours was in June and on the more expensive side, it was 110% worth the money spent.. Skipping to the day of my wedding, what an amazing crew they have working there. I really don't think there was anything they could have done better, EVERYTHING was set up just as I asked, the service from food to the bar was impressive and super friendly. They made my wedding day an amazing experience and I highly recommend them.

It was my dream wedding! A beautiful ceremony and reception! Theresa was amazing, she took care of us all night!

The staff did an excellent job setting up our tables (which included lighting about 200 candles!), the room was beautiful and the matre'd (sorry for the spelling!) was excellent, she made sure we were always taken care of. We decided to have both the reception and cocktail hour in the main ballroom which our guests loved. the room was huge so it was very easy to mingle during the cocktail hour and everyone could take their dinner seat to eat hourderves (again not so good with the french spelling!) which was important because i've been to weddings before where you had a drink and plate of food but no where to sit during cocktail hour. The bar tenders were very nice too! And I heard great things from my guests about the chocolate fountain but I was too busy dancing to see it lol

Nancy and her team at the Sunset Ballroom at Jack Baker's Lobster Shanty went above and beyond our expectations for our wedding this past weekend. Obviously, the food is outstanding. All our guests raved about it from beginning to end. The view speaks for itself. The value is great compared to other waterfront venues we checked out in our wedding planning. But one of the best things was our wonderful Maitre de Sean who went above and beyond to make sure our every need was met. He was the best! I could not ask for more. Book your wedding here and you won't be sorry!

We had our wedding this April at the Sunset ballroom aka Lobster Shanty (only bad thing about the place is that it says Lobster Shanty on the outside).

Sean was our Maitre d and he was attentive and on top of everything. I had about 15 boxes of decorations and customized every detail from using my own 3D place cards, candle holders, unique table numbers and card holder and all sorts of decor. They executed my vision perfectly.

Every single guest told us the food was phenomenal. We did a huge buffet with carving stations. It was incredible. If you love seafood this is an amazing value for your money.

Mueller's bakery in Bay Head handles their wedding cakes and pastries for the desert table. Amazing. Everyone ate the cake which is unusual at weddings. The bakery also let us customize our cake completely and it was all included in the package already.

The view is beautiful. The deck that wraps around the building is nice. Our guests enjoyed hanging out outside during the cocktail hour. The bridal suite is nice and spacious. The room is just gorgeous. We didn't get one complaint or negative comment about our wedding. It was truly the best day of our lives.

We could not be happier with Lobster Shanty's services and professionalism. We had a mater de taking care of us all night. We were unable to eat dinner because we were too busy socializing, so Theresa wrapped everything up for us to take home. She also made sure our parents were taken care of all night. The food, cake, service, and dessert bar were amazing. People, to this day, rave about the Lobster Shanty!

This venue is gorgeous! My guests cannot stop talking about how beautiful it was and how delicious the food was! I highly recommend The Sunset Ballroom!

When we decided to get married down at the shore, we had a vision of what would be the perfect wedding reception venue. The Sunset Ballroom exceeded every expectation we had and gave us our dream wedding. We loved our tasting and had high expectations for the food, and it did not disappoint. We received many compliments on the food - and the vast selection of it - at the cocktail hour. Dinner was also a big hit! Equally impressive was the Viennese table that our guests raved about for days after the wedding! Finally, the staff at the Sunset Ballroom ensured everything went perfect for us. They had wait staff for the bridal party in the bridal suite when we arrived to take drink orders and make sure we had a sampling of the cocktail hour selections before we went out to join the rest of the guests at cocktail hour. Theresa, our maitre de, was amazing! It was like she knew everything we would need or ask. Thanks to her, we never wondered, “Is everything going as planned?”, because we knew with her taking the lead, everything would go smoothly. Every detail was perfect, which was no small task because my fiancé and I had dropped off a lot of ‘extra’ decorations and stationary that we wanted to use to make the venue ‘us.’ As we walked in the doors, we couldn’t believe this was where we would celebrate. Equally helpful was Nancy, during the planning process. She always took the time to answer phone calls and emails, regardless of how little the question was. It was nothing short of a picture perfect wedding for us, and we cannot thank the Sunset Ballroom and their staff enough for turning our dream into reality.

I am very happy with service we received for our wedding reception (and ceremony) at the Sunset Ballroom at Jack Baker's Lobster Shanty in Point Pleasant. Teresa, the matire d', was absolutely amazing. She took care of every request and made sure I, my husband, and our parents did not have to worry about anything the entire evening. Although I did not get a minute to sit down to enjoy the food at the wedding (even though I was made a plate), Teresa made sure I had a full sampling to-go, and all of my guests have been raving about how great it was. The buffet seemed to be unending, and really is a good value considering all you get. They did a great (and very speedy) job of renovating/reconstructing the ballroom after Hurricane Sandy, and I'm so happy that the Lobster Shanty, with its spectacular view, provided the perfect location for our wedding.

Our wedding at Jack Baker's was absolutely beautiful! Sean was our Matre D and he was amazing!!! He held the entire nigth toghether, was beyond accomodating, made sure everyone was happy...and had a blast with our guests! The food is delicious, we are still hearing from family and friends about how wonderful it was. The venue is gorgeous with an amazing view. The wedding packages are a great value, especially for the beach area. Thank you so much!!!

I would highly recommend Jack Baker's for your wedding reception. The maitre'd was so helpful with everything throughout the night. She kept my drinks full, informed on when to do the dances, speeches, cake cutting, etc. The location is great and right on the inlet, and the room itself is nicely decorated. We loved how large the bar area was too. The food was excellent, we got no complaints about it! Jack Baker's is a a great deal for your money, most of the venues down the shore are overpriced and/or look outdated.

We had our wedding reception here and it was absolutely beautiful. We havent stopped getting told how awesome our entire wedding - especially the reception - was! The Sunset Ballroom is a beautiful location to have your wedding as the main room is huge and overlooks the water. There is a separate room, also overlooking the water, for cocktail hour. Just a warning - they do serve a lot of food! It is all delicious and luckily our guests did not go into a food coma:) The staff was fabulous, especially our maitre'd Teresa. My family stopped in several times during the wedding planning process and everyone was always very attentive to our questions and extremely helpful.

The Sunset Ballroom did an amazing job with our wedding. They were so flexible and accommodating and really made our day a huge success!! Food was wonderful, view was fantastic and everyone did a great job!

This venue is absolutely wonderful. We have had many family parties there, so having our wedding there was a no-brainer. Although wedding venues in NJ are pricey, this one is well worth the expense. We received so many compliments from our guests on how lovely our reception was. Trust me, you will not be disappointed with this venue!

Take advantage of their afternoon wedding reception packages for a lower price tag and spectacular views of the water! (Can't see as much of the water at night!)

We recently help our wedding reception at the Lobster Shanty, everything was absolutely amazing and exceeded our expectations. Upon our first visit to the Lobster Shanty we knew that we couldn't imagine our wedding taking place anywhere else. From the beautiful chandeliers to the dark bar and double sided fireplace, not to mention - the views! It was absolutely the perfect compliment to our beach wedding. I have to say Jackie was not all that helpful or friendly but Nancy the banquet manager was always quick to respond and extremely helpful ! She was there the day before to ensure we had everything that we needed and her team would be able to help in creating our vision. Everything went off without a hitch! One thing I wish we did was have food waiting in the bridal suite, even though we made it to cocktail hour our bridal party was a little hungry. The Cocktail Hour room was great! Although it was windy so we couldn't use the outside space it didn't feel crammed, everyone said there was PLENTY of food and everything was delicious, we did the roasted pig during cocktail hour which was also a huge hit! There was a table with our signature drink so everyone got to sample that too. As we entered the ballroom everything was EXACTLY as Justin and I had pictured it, the candles were glowing the lights were low and all of our small details were taken care of perfectly by the team. The matrie'd was AMAZING she made sure we were taken care of the ENTIRE night, she made sure we had time to eat and enjoy ourselves which a lot of brides say they NEVER eat at their wedding. The food was fabulous and there was a ton of it! We did add an extra carving station and pasta station so we had 1 of each in cocktail hour, I am really glad we did that! Also, we added the mashed potato bar which everyone thought was a great idea and it was so yummy! The entire night was like a dream come true and Justin and I couldn't be happier!!!

The main problem I had was trying to talk to their catering manager in the months before the wedding, she could be a really nasty person on the phone. Once I switched to email it was great. I also was disappointed that they did not offer the guests the different flavor choices for the cake, but perhaps I didn't remind them.
All in all, the day was perfect!!! I still have people bringing up in conversation how great our reception was, best ever most of them tell me!

Pros: the space is beautiful and the price is very reasonable for the amount of food you get. Our maître d Teresa was wonderful and kept our drinks full all night and the night went very smoothly. All of the things we did to personalize the space were executed nicely.

Cons: I had to follow up with the banquet manager, Nancy more than I would have liked. A couple of times my emails were not returned unless I followed up or called. Also had to ask for direction cards. Upon our finalization meeting, I was informed that I needed to go to the bakery to pick out the cake from muellers which is included. I live an hour away and was getting down to the wire so they fit me in but there weren't any samples made and thus I ran behind on my other appointments. Also on our original consultation we were told we could do a celebratory shot in lieu of a toast. At the final meeting I was told absolutely no shots. We did a sig drink instead but it was still another last minute thing to do. Also we had asked that NO pigs in a blanket be served and somehow they were...

Overall the venue is beautiful and great value for the money but I really wish the planning had gone a bit smoother. Our pictures are beautiful and we had a great time.

Our parents held our engagement party at The Sunset Ballroom on a Saturday afternoon. There are two women who handle all events there, one was much more friendly and helpful than the other. We absolutely loved the space! The view was fantastic and the food was delicious. We were a little disappointed by the ice cream sundae bar for desert. It was really only a small table with a few topping choices and one server for 120 guests. Servers were supposed to be refilling water glasses, but they rarely did. They started clearing tables and removing them from the room, packing up our decorations, and setting up for the next event before the end of our party and before our guests started leaving. Some guests were still eating their ice cream. This was unacceptable. We were paying customers just like the wedding following our party and deserved to enjoy the space for the amount of time that we booked it for. During the confusion, a decoration that was very important to us went missing. It had been passed down to us, and we were going to use it our wedding. We called on Monday, but it never turned up. They didn't really seem to care that it went missing, and we had to call them a week later to check on the situation. Even with these few bumps in the road, it was still a wonderful event. Thankfully the great food and gorgeous space and views almost make up for the bumps. I would still recommend The Sunset Ballroom to others for those reasons.
