The Halekulani Hau Terrace was the perfect place to get married and their team made the event even better!
We got married at the Halekulani Hotel in Waikiki Beach this July, and from start to finish, our experience with the Halekulani team was exceptional. Our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception were held at the Hau Terrace, a stunning venue with breathtaking views of the ocean and Diamond Head in the background. The food and cocktails were outstanding, and our guests couldn’t stop raving about the malasada station we had at the end of the evening. Honestly, they were some of the best malasadas I’ve ever had—giving Leonard’s a real run for their money! The waitstaff at our wedding were gracious and attentive, ensuring everything went smoothly throughout the night. The Hau Terrace was the perfect size for our group of about 50 guests, creating an intimate and elegant atmosphere. We also used Halekulani’s in-house florist, and I can’t recommend them enough. The florals were absolutely gorgeous, and their pricing was among the most competitive we found. A special shoutout to Lilly, our Halekulani-assigned coordinator, who made planning our wedding from off-island so seamless. She was organized, communicative, and truly a joy to work with. Thank you to the entire Halekulani team for making our special day not only beautiful and memorable but also stress-free to plan. We are so grateful and couldn’t have imagined a better experience -

Took good care of us and professional
Everyone at the hotel treated us like family and took care of us. Our event manager, Lilly, was in constant contact with us and answered every question we threw her way, there was nothing she didn’t know. The staff on the day of the wedding were super attentive and helped us and our guests with everything, from the guest rooms to the drinks. Everything turned out perfectly. We received a lot of compliments with food, drinks, deserts and how gorgeous the hotel is. We did the yakitori stand as late night snacks for our guests and it was a hit! Love the Halekulani hotel. It’d be forever in our memories! -

Highly Recommend Wedding Venue
Joel and Tina, of the catering department at the Halekulani Hotel, are the best! From our intial inquiry, to our site visit, all the way up to our wedding day, they answered all our questions, addressed all our concerns and were extremely flexible at times. We had both our ceremony and reception at their beautiful Hau Terrace lanai. All staff were very friendly, accommodating, and attentive. We truly felt pampered and cared for. We can't say enough about Steven, our banquet captain on the day of. He and his staff went above and beyond for our friends and family! We are blessed to have been cared for so much by this team at the Halekulani! We look forward to spending our anniversaries with them for years to come! -

Thank you to Sayaka the Catering Sales Manager for keeping up correspondence with me in our almost daily e-mails. She really helped make this reception go so smoothly. We selected the garden terrace that holds max 80 guests. We maxed out. The mural of vintage Hawaii in the room and the grassy courtyard outside was a beautiful backdrop. We got 1 free night stay in a beautiful room in addition to the 2 we already booked there with the silver package. We also got a free 3-tiered cake so we literally saved a thousand dollars. Our stay was loved especially by my husband Damien who couldn't stop raving about their top knotch customer service. He even got his shoes shined! The real reason my husband wanted Halekulani was for the 5-star food. The reception food turned out to be phenomenal. We had a the highest priced buffet. My favorite was the pork chop and the desserts. We are still eating our wedding cake in the fridge. ;) Our guests still rave about the food. The staff also served us our food which made us feel more spoiled than we already were. Thank you all so much. We don't regret a thing. We have made memories to last a lifetime. Thank you.-

We came to Hawaii a little over a year before our wedding to find the prefect venue, and our search ended the moment we stepped into the Hau Terrace at Halekulani. We knew we had found the "one". 99% of our guests are from NYC and each one could not get over how beautiful our venue was!
Even a month later, our guests still talk excitedly about how amazing the food was, and impeccable the service was. I've never heard of guests "Thanking" the couple for being invited, but we get thanked every time! The food is so good, it may just spoil you for regular food! Thank you Halekulani, and THANK YOU to Mr Nishimoto, and his people. It was perfect and a night we'll never forget! -

I get the chills when I think of how perfect Halekulani experience was. We had our ceremony and reception on the Hau Terrace. The hotel, service, atmosphere, and food was five star and above. I was so proud to our guests on the service and food that was provided. The atmosphere was beautiful. We could not have imagined it happening any better. Thank you so much for making our day special!!. I highly recommend Halekulani for anyone looking for their special day to be a dream come true. -

I have absolutely no regrets on choosing the Halekulani for my wedding. Starting with the even planning staff, Dayna and Sayaka were amazing and helpful. They answered my emails promptly and made sure everything was ready for my special day. The catering manager on the day of my wedding was awesome. She was helpful, organized and professional. I owe her many thanks for making sure everything ran smoothly. Now lets talk about food. THE FOOD WAS SO FREAKING AMAZING!!! My guests could not stop talking about the food after the wedding. We did the buffet and my guests really appreciated it. The highlights were the watermelon salad, poke, prime rib, bread pudding, and sea bass. Seriously, the food at my wedding will be talked about for years. Everyone said it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding. The venue was also nice enough to pack to go boxes for me and my hubby and have it delivered to our suite. The wedding cake was also provided by the hotel and that was the other thing my guests could not stop raving about. IT WAS SOOOO GOOD. Everything from the staff, service, absolute amazing oceanfront view, food, reception venue, hotel WAS AMAZING!!! You should definitely check this place out. Also, it's conveniently located for all your guests staying in Waikiki. -

We were SO pleased with halekulani!! Joel, the catering director was amazing!! He sat down with us about a mobtbe before the wedding to make sure everything would run smoothly. On the day of john, the banquet captain was pretty much at our beck and call!! He made sure we were being fed and was constantly bringing us ice cold water to sip on during down times . Words cannot express the deep gratitude we feel.
If you're contemplating halekulani, just do ir!! It's so worth it! The staff is incredible!!! You have my word that you won't regret o!! -

There is no other place I could recommend with absolute confidence. Halekulani provided exceptional service to us on all levels. Their wedding menus may be a little higher than other venues, but once you sit down and look at the extra inclusions they provide, it really is worth it. I can't put into words how amazing our whole experience has been. You will not be disappointed! A+++ for a wedding venue. The Hau Terrace was a great choice for us for our ceremony & reception for 100 pax. Perfection on all fronts. Recommend without hesitation. -

Planning a destination wedding is extremely daunting - especially when you have to do everything online and cannot see things (like the venue) for yourself before picking it. I chose the Halekulani based on photos on their website and reviews - and I am so glad I did. We had 60 people at our wedding and had both our ceremony and reception at the Hau Terrace. I wanted an indoor/outdoor venue and the Hau Terrace was perfect for that. Leading up to the wedding, Tom and his team were super helpful and very responsive to emails. On the day of the wedding itself, their banquet captain John, took care of everything.. and I mean EVERYTHING. He went over and beyond our expectations.. he made sure all the guests were okay during cocktail hour, then he would check on us (bride/groom) as we were having our photos taken at the beach. He even brought us food and provided us with towels and slippers so we could clean ourselves off after the beach photos. During the reception, he was constantly checking with us to see if we were okay, had enough food, drinks. Couldn't say enough good things about this venue. You will not regret choosing the Halekulani! -

Wow, that's really all there is to say about the Halekulani. The service is impeccable and the staff just amazing. If you are considering Honolulu for a destination wedding this is the spot especially the Hau Terrace location for any wedding of 80 or less guests you get a great location with Diamond Head and the ocean as your backdrop for your ceremony. The Hau Terrace room is beautiful with large folding glass doors that open up the space. We had a sit down dinner of filet mignon and Maine lobster tail that was simply delicious with a beautiful presentation. My brother is a chef and he could not believe the flavorfulness and tenderness of all of the courses. We also had their signature haupia cake for our wedding cake and again everyone commented on how it was the best cake they had ever had at a wedding. If you spend just $6,000 for your food ( not hard to do) you get the terrace for your ceremony for free ($1,800 otherwise) and a beautiful suite for your wedding night with champagne and delicious chocolate dipped strawberries. -

We had our wedding reception at the Hau Terrace. Gorgeous ocean and diamond head view, delicious food, all staff from the valet to servers went above and beyond! Despite a 5 hour time difference in Iowa, Joel was always available and prompt in answering my questions. Even with the volume limit, music was perfect for dancing! Couldn't have dreamed of a more perfect venue for our reception! Pleasure to work with and highly recommended! -

From the day we heard about Halekulani, till the end, we were absolutely amazed by the hotel itself, the food, and especially staff. We were greeted everywhere and helped in anyway possible. Me and my wife had our wedding at Hau Terrace. Upon our first visit, we met Loren Petrowski and saw the venue, we were taken away from the sights and view they had to offer. Loren was able to answer any questions we had in a timing manner and suggest things that would work within our budget and guest preferences. We can't say enough good things about them. Keep up the great work and we will be sure to come back and visit. Those who are thinking about coming here don't need to worry about a thing when these people are looking after you. Thank you so much!!!! -

Halekulani was hands down the best decision for our wedding day. From the first emails, they made me feel so special and really set my mind at ease with how organized and professional they are. Their level of service is really unmatched. My catering manager, Tom, was amazing. I'e sure he does this for every couple he works with, but I really felt like I was getting star treatment from him. He answered my emails very quickly (I made many) and really went above and beyond to make us happy. I always knew I was in good hands with them. The hotel is just so beautiful, considering it is in Waikiki; it makes from amazing wedding photos. Our ceremony and reception site, the Hau Terrace, was perfect for creating an intimate and picturesque setting. The food was amazing! Our friends and family are still talking about it! They also did our cake, which they customized a little for us and it came out absolutely amazing and delicious. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone getting married. -

Halekulani is by far the most beautiful hotel on the island of Oahu. The bridal party prepared for the wedding in a Diamond Head Suite with a picture perfect view and the men got ready in a Jr. Suite. Both rooms were amazing and perfect for wedding prep picture taking. All of my wedding guest loved the ceremony set up and could not stop talking about how amazing the food tasted to include the cake! I'm so happy we chose to get married there. -

My husband and looked at every wedding location on Oahu and Maui. We fell in love with two spots Halekulani and Lanikuhonua, both on Oahu.
We did our pros/cons and Halekulani came on top for these reasons:
1) There was a chance of rain on our wedding day
2) With older guest, easy access and clean bathrooms was a major priority
3) Transportation to and from wedding site --- most of our guest stayed in Waikiki, so Halekulani
4) The beauty and convenience for us + the free wedding cake, honeymoon suite, and a lot of other goodies Halekulani provided sealed the deal
Also, having an onsite wedding coordinator at Halekulani, Joel Nishimoto, made all the difference. He is absolutely the most patient and understanding man. I made many changes to our reception setup up (last minute), and I aslo forgot many other details, which Joel reminded me and was on top of. Thank you Joel if you are reading this review.
The venue, the service, the SPECTACULAR HONEYMOON SUITE with ocean view was to die for. Classy! classy! classy! I am beyond thrilled we chose Halekulani for our wedding and reception site. -

This hotel did so much for me! The room that we were provided was AMAZING!!! Also, the service provided to our room was outstanding. Almost anything we could ask for, the hotel was able to provide. We even needed a last minute steam on my wife's dress because it had gotten wrinkled in transit and they were able to take care of it no problem. The utmost professionalism was always provided. We felt like we were treated like royalty the entire weekend which was very comforting. Also, coordinating with our contact from this hotel was very pleasant and she was always helpful in providing us with whatever information we needed. I am more than happy that we chose this hotel. -

Many thanks to you and your wonderful staff for making our wedding day so special. All our guests commented on how delicious their meals (even the special requirements!) were. Please pass on a big 'mahalo' to your kitchen staff and wait staff who provided impeccable service. It's the fine attention to detail that made it all so special - the manager for the evening really took care of us to ensure we ate a hot meal and was so helpful in issuing me some slippers towards the end of the night for my poor sore party feet!
We are so glad that we chose the Halekulani for our wedding. It turned out absolutely perfect and exceeded our expectations in every way.
A very special thank you Loren for your guidance and advice along the way, we appreciate your expertise and professionalism. -

What else is there to say about this place?
Everyone in Hawaii knows its the best hotel for a reason. The service is absolutely impeccable, the hotel is beautiful and did I mention the service?
I have been to Halekulani on multiple occasions over the years to eat at the restaurants or for weddings and I knew that when we decided to get married on Oahu that there were only a couple of choices. After looking over the options we easily decided on Halekulani.
Our catering director was Loren Petrowski and she is just insane. She replies to emails so quickly and with such detail and clarity that it instantly puts you at ease. She coordinated our tasting and we met with her a couple of times before the wedding and asked a bunch of silly questions which she answered with a smile on her face.
She was there for our rehearsal and on the day of to make sure everything was running smoothly. Our banquet captain Alan was just awesome. He kept checking on us to make sure everything was going smoothly and sent extra food and cake to our room since we were too busy to eat.
The Hau Terrace as a wedding venue is pretty hard to beat on the island. Especially if you are getting married in a hotel. The problem is that Hawaii weddings are large and it only holds 120 people max, otherwise that room would be booked out for years.
Again the service from the time we stepped foot on the grounds to the time we departed after our stay was just outstanding. People bent over backwards to help us and go the extra mile for us. We left on our honeymoon to Japan and Bali and even though we stayed at hotels w/ personal butlers, they didn't match the Halekulani. If you are from out of town researching wedding venues, just do it. It's soooo worth it. If you have less than 120 people BONUS!.....because you can do the Hau Terrace. Months later people are saying how great the wedding was, how awesome the venue was, and how great the food was. By the way, I used to DJ weddings when I was in college -

While Halekulani may not seem to be the most affordable upfront, may we encourage you to take the time to evaluate their value. You receive exceptional service for you and your guests, excellent FOOD (that was our number one priority), free valet parking for everyone, delicious and beautiful wedding cake, complementary stay(s) at the hotel, champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, your own Halekulani champagne glasses... They constantly strive to go above and beyond for you. If you looked once, look again! -

We got married at the Halekulani in May, 2013. The service, from start to end, was beyond amazing. We actually had two ceremonies on our wedding day. There is absolutely no comparison between the service received between the two - the staff at the Halekulani is amazing. Loren, the catering manager, in particular is responsive, patient and incredibly helpful. Though they recommend a wedding planner, with Loren on board, that almost felt like an extra. She's so incredibly helpful. Unlike many other vendors, she's responsive and timely also. Then of course, the setting (Hau Terrace) is just beautiful. We loved it, and our guests are still raving about it. The food was amazing, the service impeccable. Our wedding day was so perfect and beyond what we'd hoped for. The cherry on top is all the little 'extras' that come with the wedding package. It ends up being a really great value at an amazing venue. I have absolutely no reservations about recommending this venue to future brides and couples. -

I was born and raised in Honolulu and have always wanted to get married in the halekulani since I was a little girl. I actually looked at several other venues prior to halekulani but was not impressed. The catering staff was not knowledgeable, didn't explain the menus or packages. It was only after visiting all other hotels did I decide to visit halekulani. I initially neglected the hotel because I thought it would be out of my price range. But I'm so glad I stopped by.
-the hotel is 5 star. It is classy, elegant and has the open air plantation feel. It is very unlike other hotels in Waikiki. While other hotels plow people thru, you feel at ease in the hotel. It is very quiet.
-their wedding packages are awesome. If you spend over 6k in food, they will hook you up with a free hotel room for your wedding night (champagne and all). Package also includes a wedding cake! They provide cake cutting tools. Valet is free for all your guests. If you add up all the little details, halekulani ends up being cheaper than most of the other venues in Waikiki. Oh forgot to mention, if you spend 6k on food, they waive the ceremony location fee. That's like anywhere from 2500-5000 saved!
-I no longer live in Hawaii ( so this is a destination wedding) so all communication with the banquet manager was done via email. Which I loved because it saved time.
-you cannot beat the service. Everyone, from the reception, to the bell boy, to the wait staff. They all give 5 star service. They will go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. I've never felt like such a queen.
-the food was good. All my guests were pleased with the food and drinks. I had 4 course meals and the average price was about $75/person.
-you cannot beat the view. I got married on the Hau terrace which overlooks the ocean. Absolutely stunning. Our guests , especially the out of town guests ( which were 80%) loved it.
Definitely check it out. It was my best wedding decision.

Quality of Service: They went above and beyond to accommodate our guest. One of our guest brought a toddler that was not yet accommodated to the time change. They brought out the a crib such that she could sleep on the lanai and the parents could stay and enjoy their meal and the reception. They also gave me and my bridesmaids spa slippers after the long day of wearing heals, which was a great relief.
Responsiveness: I planned my wedding from the east coast and corresponded mostly through email. I worked with only one person, such as to ease communication. All emails i sent, i got a response within 24 hrs. The one time i was able to visit the venue, i was able to meet with the one person that handled my wedding. Everything was quick and VERY easy.
Professionalism: The waiters and staff was amazing and very professional. They asked, noted, and accommodated every dietary restriction and qualm my guest had about food (even ones we were not able note) and they made sure they got all the orders correct. Everything tasted amazing according to our guest.
Value: The meal i thought was delicious, and many of my guest thought it was the best meal they had ever at a wedding reception. The Guava juice was amazing, the best I had ever had growing up in Hawaii, because it is made only from Guava, not diluted. It was pricey, but it was worth every penny to have such an amazing meal.
Flexibility: Catering food, they accommodated every noted allergies, as well as those that were not noted. Some guest, although they didn't have an allergy, didn't like some of the courses containing fish. They took their plates and replaced them with delicious substitutes, even though they weren't noted. -

First off, you really get what you pay for here. I couldn't believe the amount of compliments we received after the wedding. All of our guests were so happy with the service and the food. My husband and I would have completely regretted our decision if we had gone with another venue.
We worked with Loren Petrowski the entire time, and she was just so understanding with everything. Very prompted in emails and so very professional. I asked a billion questions, and she was always so patient with me. Everything during the planning process ran so smoothly. Which lead to a very smooth day of (from the brides point of view). I'm not too sure if anything went wrong behind the scenes, but I didn't hear anything of it, which kept the day of..so stress-free.
We had both our ceremony and reception at the Halekulani. We had a dinner buffet for our wedding. I don't know many hotel venues in Hawaii that allow you to do a taste testing free of charge. From my recollection, you need to have a plated dinner in order to have a taste testing. That was a pleasant surprise. We also had our wedding cake done through them. We had a special request so it was considered an upgrade. The pastry chef did an excellent job in replicating the design of our request. Not only did it look AMAZING, but it tasted amazing too!
And lastly, it was it was so important to us that our guests were happy. Being that there was free validated self-parking and free validated valet (plus gratuity) was just the cherry on top. I mean FREE, in the heart of Waikiki. That’s just unheard of! My Dad had been waiting for the car and they offered him bottled water. They really go above and beyond!
We had such a great experience with them, and I'm so glad we chose Halekulani for our special day. We can't thank the staff enough for their amazing efforts to put together everything, just as we imagined.

Perfection cannot be put in words and that is what Halekulani strives for. From the moment we did a venue visit to the time we got married and departed the Halekulani treated us with class. They were very courteous and answered everything without once losing patience.
Lauren at the catering department is simply outstanding. At one point we felt that she was more worried about everything going well than us which made us feel very good about the professional approach of the entire staff this hotel hires.
The food was impeccable. Chef Vikram created some special Hors on my request and my guests could not stop talking about them.
If you want a wedding done right Halekulani is the only way to go. -

Just had both my wedding ceremony and reception at the Hau Terrace of Halekulani and it was one of my most wonderful and memorable experiences! Halekulani offers a really nice and reasonable wedding package which includes a junior ocean suite with unparalleled ocean-front views. The food at our reception was great and the staff was friendly and world-class. Our catering manager Loren was really helpful and fast at responding to our questions (within one day), and our guests raved about how fast their drinks got refilled. In my option Halekulani's location is also superior compared to other hotels-it's not right on or super close to the main shopping street so it's less crowded and not as loud. I'm really glad that I chose Halekulani for my wedding as I wouldn't be nearly as happy with any of the other options around. -

What a dream it is to get married in Hawaii AND to get married at one of the most prestigious hotels on Oahu~! To be honest, I didn't even visit the venue before we booked it - it's so highly regarded and recommended that I felt totally comfortable just going for it :) Planning a wedding from Seattle, I wanted to make sure that I had a team of vendors that I could trust that would make my life easier and THAT was definitely the Halekulani.
Some details - we had 150 guests, opted for the nicer buffet, and had our ceremony in the garden courtyard and the reception in the ballroom. All of our guests were impressed with the 5-star service, and everyone was looking forward to the food. Just an FYI - their buffet is not necessarily the "cheaper" choice...it's actually more expensive than manyof their plated meals, so we were actually upgrading to the nicer of the two offered buffets). For our chafing dishes, we chose the steamed onaga (a signature dish), london broil, and the seafood curry (with scallops and sea bass - THIS was the surprise hit of the evening. I would have never imagined serving curry at a wedding, but it was just so flavorful and delicious that I had to go for it and everyone thanked me for that~!). We also had the prime rib as another main dish. The salads, appetizers, and desserts are to die for....the poke is DELISH, and the bread pudding..WOW...WOW..WOW~! SO GOOD!!
Though the Halekulani is a more expensive venue, if it's important to you to have top-knotch service, excellent communication, and impeccable execution of details - then I would highly recommend Halekulani. It's actually more affordable than I thought, so make sure you at least check it out!! I felt Loren went above and beyond for us, and we were exceptionally pleased every step of the way~! Every detail at Halekulani is just so impressive...my heart was full of appreciation~!!! -

We had our wedding reception dinner at the Halekulani Hotel in the Kalia/Kiawe private rooms. Our experience was seamless from start to finish. Joel the Director of Catering was our contact throughout the process and was such a pleasure to work with. He was very responsive and paid attention to each detail. He even had the chef prepare a special meal for my mom who can't eat many foods. The rooms were set up beautifully and the banquet captain and staff working with us that night were on point. I heard from several of our family and friends that anything they wanted they got. My maid of honor was jokingly talking about her hang nail and how painfuil they are, and within minutes someone was there with a nail clipper. Wow! A little pricey but well worth the money for the kind of imaculate and intimate experience a wedding reception begs for. Excellent! -

What an amazing and classy venue to have your wedding! Service at this hotel is unmatchable. Every single staff member I encountered was professional and courteous. Its not a really huge hotel which is what I liked about it. Pool is secluded from the marriage sites and ballroom. No kids running wild. We went with the buffet for our guests and received tons and tons of great feedback about the food. Even the wedding cake that they provided for me was delicious! Banquet captain was great as well. I would highly recommend the Halekulani! -

The venue was beautiful and the food.... the food. The food was so delicious and ono, we just wanted to take the entire buffet line home for leftovers! The cake came with with our wedding too, and the cake was so light and fluffy, It was balanced just right!

We had our wedding reception at The Halekulaniand if I could give it a higher rating I would. After much research on Orchids and House Without a Key I decided we wanted to have a private reception as opposed to dinner in a restaurant with other people. Tripadvisor reviews raved about all the restaurants at Halekulani and the quality of food is utmost importance to us. I happened to come across their private rooms on their website. For our party of 9, I decided to book the Kiawe Room and we couldn't be happier. There is no site fee just minimum food revenue of $1500 which includes the cake. This is pretty reasonable when compared to other sites like San Souci Room that is farther from the center of Waikiki and the atmosphere there is more down to earth.
Our catering manager, Joel Nishimoto, and admin, Tina Hum, were outstanding to work with from beginning to end. Every question or doubt was answered promptly with the details required. The contract and deposit details were well written and broken down which helped tremendously when planning a wedding without a coordinator. They are professionals and really put my mind at ease as I was a destination bride and have never been to Honolulu before.
Upon arrival to the hotel, for our reception, the lady at the front desk immediately escorted us to our room. There, Steven, who looked after us all evening, was awaiting our arrival and had placed the candles and favors we dropped off the day before. The wedding cake was displayed on a smaller table with green cymbidium orchids just as I requested. Everything was perfect and we felt they we were taken care of by family. Steven and the lady (sorry forgot her name) who looked after us all night were attentive yet unobtrusive. My family felt so comfortable they kicked off their shoes and thoroughly enjoyed themselves!! JUST WHAT WE HAD HOPED FOR!!
I could go on forever about the impeccable service, but I MUST leave room for the food. While we had our pictures taken we had cocktail hour and 4 butler passed hor d'oeuvres which were delicious: Purse of Smoked Duck, Caramelized Peach and Goat Cheese (YUM our fav and was the least expensive!), Beef Crostini, Chicken Satay, Scallop Wrapped in Bacon (light and crispy). The timing was perfect and they always kept a close eye on our drink refills. Oh BTW they let us bring in our own wine/champagne and charged $25 corkage fee so major plus there.
For dinner, we created a 4 course custom menu from their preset menus and it was very reasonably priced. We started with Ceasar Salad with Seared Scallops - the scallops had a layer of cream baked into the top so it was not your standard seared scallops. 2nd course was Ahi Poke with Lump Crab on Top. 3rd course was Filet Mignon with Lobster. The lobster was perfectly cooked and had a really nice sauce. 4th course was Twice Baked Goat Cheese with Fruit. We were stuffed at this point but it was such a nice fluffy and airy pastry that everyone devoured it.
For our wedding cake we had 2 tiers and they let us do 2 flavors! I had to try Haupia and Raspberry and Cream on the bottom tier. Though we were stuffed everyone raved about the cake. We had the bottom tier which had fresh berries baked in and was simply divine. Are you drooling yet? Steven wrapped the top tier for us to take home.
The reception was the very first thing I booked for our wedding as I wanted to ensure we had a wonderful meal on our special day. We are ecstatic with our experience and would highly recommend Halekulani for any special event! Halekulani will take care of you like family. -

Tom at the Halekulani is my hero. He went above and beyond his duties to ensure everything came together beautifully. He worked with the chef to create numerous items not on the menu and a custom design cake, coordinated with the in house florist on the trellis flowers and my bouquet, which was beyond stunning, and briefed security on a possible wedding crasher.
Everyone I dealt with at the Halekulani was friendly, professional, and prompt. Their laundry service department did a wonderful job pressing my dress before the wedding as well. A kind man came to my room to pick up the dress, and when I returned to my room later that evening, I found my dress on a rolling cart all wrapped up in sheets like a present.
My wedding was at Hau Terrace which is the only private ceremony and reception space in Waikiki with an indoor and outdoor space. No gawkers watching your wedding! Gorgeous setting, wonderful food, and strong drinks.
The food station tables come with tropical floral arrangements at no added cost and the small cocktail tables I used came with decorations as well. I did not have to spend money on any floral arrangements except for the trellis, bouquet, and leis. Thats a big budget saver.
The Halekulani wedding package is a great value. Venue fee is waived with a small food minimum. Free suite for honeymoon night which was incredible. I think I got lucky and received a better suite than the package provided. Private entrance, large lanai over looking the ocean, 1.5 bathrooms, living room, massive bathroom with walk in closet, and more square footage than my condo. A bottle of champagne, toasting flutes, and chocolate covered strawberries await you when you return to your suite following your reception.
The only thing I disliked about the venue, was the fact 2 other weddings were going on around the same time as mine in other locations. They're huge bridal parties were occupying the majority of the photo locations, so we were stuck taking photos all in the same spot. Wish better coordination was in place to keep huge parties from hogging prime space for extended periods of time.

Deciding to hold our reception at the Halekulani set the tone for our entire wedding planning process. Tom and his staff in the catering department were a dream to work with. They were so accommodating, responisve, and professional. We could not have asked for anything more. Every single staff member that we came in contact with over the weekend embodied the quality of service that the Halekulani is known for. The bar tenders and servers went out of their way to make sure that our guests had everything they needed at the reception and the food they served was phenomenal. I love the Halekulani!! -

Tom N. was AMAZING! Let me be honest... when we were first deciding on our venue, our top choice was not the Halekulani because we didn't know much about it yet. BUT, once we met up with Tom, got a tour of the place and more specifics of what they offered and how beautiful the place is, we were blown away! After going to other venues (which were all bad experiences because they didn't give the exceptional customer service that Tom gave), we called Tom back and booked them.
Every time we had a question, Tom would immediately get back to us! He has a lot of passion in what he does and it shows! Anything we needed for our wedding (with our unique theme) he was more than happy to accommodate. The service throughout the entire experience from the Concierge, to the Room Service, to the FOOD and everyone who worked on our wedding was by far the best! Everyone was raving about the food! Thank you so much to everyone who helped make our day special! -

What can I not say about the Halekulani? From the beginning, Joel was easy to work with and very helpful and accommodating of (mostly) all of our requests. He was very prompt in answering our e-mails and
The staff provided top notch service throughout, they were very professional and courteous. When it started to rain lightly during our ceremony, the staff was ready with umbrellas and passed them out to all of our guests.
The food is excellent. The cake is awesome.
The packages they offer are a nice bonus too. -

Joel was my catering manager for my wedding. He was so very helpful, and he responses to my emails were lightening fast. My grandmother always said, "You get what you pay for," and Halekulani is no exception. The prices are on the high end, but they cater to your every need, and your guests are treated like royalty. We wanted to serve a very special Hungarian family recipe. Joel was able to work with the chef to ensure this was done correctly and to our specifications. Joel also worked with the pastry chef to create an amazing (and delicious) Groom's cake of a Dodge Viper for my husband. The bartender was polite, and everyone loved his drinks. The guava martinis were the best! Halekulani is THE place to go if you want a wedding that is perfect in every way. -

Besides the excellent service, the hotel is beautiful and you feel like a queen. I can't say enough about this place. The catering staff is wonderful, they get back to you right away and they help you with any concerns or questions. They offer free food tasting (most places don't), you get a complimentary suite on your wedding night, free parking and they throw in the wedding cake too. I believe Halekulani is the best place to have a wedding. They did a terrific job at our wedding. The catering manager, Ai was VERY good at helping us with a lot of the details. We splurged on our guests (100) with a 4-course sit down meal but it was worth every penny. The food was very delicious. You cannot go wrong with Halekulani. Our guests raved about the food and the drinks. The bartenders made very good mojitos and margaritas for our guests. This hotel may be more pricey compared to others but if you want the best, this is the place to go. Also, the service from the wait staff was the best we ever had. Another word of advice: If you plan to have your wedding here, make sure you reserve at least a year in advance. We booked our wedding 1.5 years in advance which was good because another couple actually that same date and time. -

This hotel's service and their staff are outstanding.
They are very courteous and really take care of you.
They even packed us food and delivered it to our room to enjoy after the reception!
All of our guests had a great time.
Yes, they may cost a bit more in terms of the reception but I think the service, quality and staff more than make up for it.

We got married on the Waimanalo beach and it was just the 2 of us. We wanted to make sure that our dinner was going to be a very special evening. Even though it was just the two of us Ku'ulei Lipton from the Halekulani Hotel was very responsive months in advanced by making sure we had a special table. When the limo dropped us off after the ceremony there was a table with an amazing view of the ocean with rose petals all over the table. This was so special and amazing! Thank You Ku'ukei!

Truly a fantastic place and probably the most classy place in Honolulu. We had 186 guests and spent over $ 14,000 on food and over $7,000 on alcohol. If you spend over $ 14,000 on food, you get the ceremony, cake, two night stay in a hotel suite, and a couple of other perks for free. They respond to e-mails fast and were always professional and kind towards us. It is a little expensive, but the food and service are completely worth it. You speak to any of the locals and they will tell you the Halekulani has the best wedding food on the island. -

My husband and I loved Halekulani. Joel (the catering manager) was very easy to work with and prompt with answering phone calls and emails. Although he could not fulfill every request that we had, due to Halekulani policies, he did make an effort to make our wedding experience absolutely wonderful.
The staff at the Halekulani were very attentive and genuinely nice people. They treated us like VIPs! We really felt the aloha spirit from everyone. (Having been born and raised on Oahu, now living in California, I really missed this feeling of aloha.)
The food was ono (delicious) and the cake was very tasty too!
The courtyard was a beautiful location for our ceremony, and the ballroom was a perfect size for our reception (130 guests). We were fortunate to have our wedding just after Thanksgiving, so we had two large, nicely decorated Christmas trees that framed the ballroom stage.
We also appreciated the wedding packages at Halekulani, because they were one of the few who offered them as I was researching venues on Oahu. (It also enabled us to stay within our budget!)
We highly recommend Halekulani for a wedding, big or small. -

I loved having my wedding at Halekulani. Joel and Loren were both extremely helpful. Excellent service and great food. They also had pretty good wedding packages where ceremony, cake, cake cutting, 1 night stay and parking were inclusive with a food minimum. Fair price considering they are a 5 star hotel and their prices are comparable to most other Waikiki hotels. My only complain is the limited access to the beach at Halekulani, there is only a small area to take pictures on the beach and it was filled with people very early in the morning. Otherwise, perfect, no regrets whatsoever with choosing this venue! -

What a magical experience we had at Halekulani!
My husband and I married in March 2016, and we decided to have a destination wedding because our guests would be coming from all over the world. Hawaii was a great central point for everyone, but for us, living in New York, planning required a bit more effort than a local wedding.
We weren't sure how often we'd get to visit Hawaii before the big day, so we looked for venues with great reviews and amazing staff, knowing that we'd be in good hands even if we'd only visit once before.
After looking through Halekulani's website, reviews, and speaking with the staff there, we felt 100% confident that our wedding would be wonderful. We chose to have our ceremony on the Hau Terrace, with the reception in the adjoining room. We did get to visit before the big day, and when we walked into the space, I got teary. We never imagined we'd get married in such a dreamy place!
The staff at Halekulani was incredible helpful, answering all of our many questions via email, and meeting with us in person when we were on the island. In the middle of our planning process, there was a change in personnel and at first we were nervous that some of the planning would be lost, that didn't happen at all. Tom stepped in without a hiccup and made sure every detail was covered. And the staff was so accommodating with all of our DYI plans!
On the day of our wedding, we were walking on clouds. The space looked amazing, the staff was so helpful, our hotel room opened out to overlook the ocean and was the most luxurious room we've ever stayed in. We even booked a second night because we wanted to enjoy it longer! There is so much to say about being at Halekulani, but the most important is "don't hesitate". Every penny is worth it, and your wedding day will be so much more enjoyable in the hands of people that know exactly what they are doing! -

My husband and I got married at the Halekulani, and I would recommend it as a wedding venue in a heartbeat. We got married on the Halekulani's Hau Terrace Lanai. The view is stunning, and it's one of the few Waikiki venues where you can actually have a private ceremony and reception. Unless you want random tourists walking through your ceremony and taking photos of you, this is definitely a must.
The service was impeccable. Loren Petrowski did an amazing job organizing our wedding: she was friendly, well organized, detail oriented, and always quick to reply to my many e-mail questions. We were planning the wedding from the mainland, so we appreciated how she always made us feel like we were in good hands. Service on the night was also excellent: Steven did a fantastic job of running things.
We chose the buffet dinner option, and it was delicious. (Our guests raved about the food.) The Halekulani is definitely not a cheap venue; that said, I'd still give five stars for value, because the quality was worth every penny we paid. The drink prices were steep, but, overall, venues of comparable quality cost a lot more than the Halekulani. If you spend a certain amount on food, the Halekulani waives the ceremony site fee and gives you a bunch of perks--including a free wedding cake and a night's stay in the hotel (which is amazing).
Being from O'ahu, I was hesitant to get married in Waikiki; we did it for logistical reasons, since our guests were travelling from so far away. In hindsight, I can't imagine getting married anywhere else. Next time I'm home, I'm going back to the Halekulani for another piece of that amazing coconut cake! -

Wow, Wow, Wow!
We were very happy with the quick responses we received in the lead up to our wedding. And then we saw the venue for the first time 4 days before the event after arriving from Australia. We were blown away. Great location, amazing set up, everything about the Hau Terrace just felt amazing.
They were very accomodating in regards to handling favours, decorations etc for us prior to the event. On the day, all the staff were incredibly helpful and of the higest standard. They did a fantastic job handling our fresh leis before we arrived. They also created a beautiful wedding cake to our request. All our guests (as we are) are still talking about the quality food served and it helped make a truly memorable night! Whilst it isn't a budget venue, it was still good value as we have never experienced such a beautiful venue and accompanying food. Just make sure your music request is suitable for the venue. It was a brilliant venue for our reception. -

I have absolutely no regrets about having our wedding at the Halekulani. We scoured every available wedding venue in Oahu and could not find anything to top the Halekulani! Everything exceeded our expectations - food, service, ambiance, view... THE LOT! Our guests could not stop raving about the elegant food and service during our wedding, which made our day the more memorable.
We were lucky enough to say at the Diamond Head Suite, which boasts the most jaw dropping view! The Halekulani also houses some of the top restaurants in Honolulu. We were fortunate to visit: Orchids (incredible Sunday brunch); Lewers Lounge (great intimate atmosphere with staff who really know their cocktails); House without a Key (nice outdoor venue with refreshing array of drinks and a crab sandwich, which my wife cannot stop raving about!); and the in room dining option was also very nice.
Our Catering Manger, Loren is a first class professional. She was incredibly efficient to deal with and responded to all our questions via email in lightening efficiency (something we valued as we were planning our wedding half way around the world). Our banquet manager during the wedding, Steven was also a charm to deal with. He was courteous to all our guests & vendors, and also anticipated our needs to make our day stress free and more enjoyable.
All in all, I found it very difficult to fault the Halekulani. I would definitely recommend couples to consider the Halekulani as a wedding destination. We'll be sure to visit this place in the future to celebrate our anniversary! -

Amazing venue with wonderful catering manager...
Sayaka was amazing! She is the catering manager who remembered every detail of my 120+ emails as I planned my special day. I think she is very detailed oriented and flexible.. going above and beyond for our event. We got married at the Hau Terrace which had three sided views of the ocean.. they are very particular about sound so you will not be able to have a dj or band at this venue. You must shut down at 11 pm which is okay but you wish it was longer... and in August, we really wanted them to keep the ac in the venue for the comfort of our guests. The doors were opened constantly which made it hot for our guests who were dressed in black tie formal for my pictures... it was a plated dinner.. which is why they said the doors had to be open. Wish they could figure out a way to open and close right away. It was hot. Service by Sayaka was amazing.. house keeping was a hit and miss at this venue. -

Halekulani was the perfect setting for our wedding. The location is beautiful, the service was wonderful and all our guests really enjoyed the food. The cake was beautiful and we loved staying at the suite in the hotel. They have many weddings here and were able to anticipate all our needs.
A few quirks that may not suit every wedding: no DJ/dancing, limited ceremony seating, and short window for ceremony due to regular nightly music outside. -

When we wanted a Waikiki Hotel wedding, our wedding planner only said one name – Halekulani; Halekulani is known for good service and amazing quality of everything. Since we were planning our wedding from another country, we went for the best. My correspondence with a hotel was spotty. Some days I got really nice emails, some days not so much. However, overall it was a pleasant experience.
We used the Hau terrace (I know they don't allow DJs there anymore, we were still allowed). What a beautiful location, breathtaking view! Food and drinks were a top priority for us and we never regretted picking Halekulani for our Big Day. Our appetizers before dinner, plated dinner and after-dinner snacks were the best I have ever seen at any of the weddings. Drinks were top quality and we were pleased we got to go over the bar menu and pick what will be there. Wine selection was superb; our families really enjoyed the quality of the wines.
It is important to especially acknowledge banquet manager on duty that day Zack (sorry if I misspelled). He made up for all the imperfections and friction that we had with the hotel managers. Zack was the most professional person we dealt with at Halekulani and the person who knew how to make customers happy. Everything we asked for was delivered and done. Cannot say enough how thankful we are to him for making sure our night was special and went without a glitch.
Overall we are very pleased with our $6,000 package. We got to spend a romantic night at the Halekulani suit. The quality of the hotel was superb, when we have money - we will be back!

We had a beautiful reception at the Halekulani after our wedding ceremony which was at the Kahala Manderin Hotel.
We used the upstairs room - it was beautiful and nicely decorated with a huge Christmas tree and white lights because of the holiday season so we didnt have to do much decorating except for the tables. The cake was prefect- had a sea shell theme and the chef put shells all over the cake=- it was perfect! pretty $$$$$$$$$ though- the bar was crazy! -

Although I love the Halekulani, it would be a lie to give it a 5. Honestly, the place is gorgeous...both the Hau Terrace and Ballroom are great venues.
Reasons why the Halekulani does not get a 5:
1) Signature Drink Disaster
My signature drink turned out to look like dirty water. When I had sent images and instructions of the drink, the catering manager said the bartender could do it. The drink was suppose to be a turqouise coloured drink...instead it looked like mirky blue! I expected a 5-star hotel would try its best to match the image sent.
2) Sushi Line
At my rehearsal, my wedding coordinator asked if I wanted to get an extra bartender during cocktail hour to avoid the guests waiting in line. However, I should have been asked about an extra sushi chef! I had some guests wait in line for the entire hour to get sushi! The hotel should know that 1 sushi chef is not enough for a wedding for 150 guests
3) The Sunday Brunch
As part of the platinum wedding, there's a complimentary brunch at House without a Key. When my husband called to make reservations, the restaurant said it was booked. He even told the hostess that we had gotten married at the hotel the day prior. That didn't get us in. She pretty much said to walk-in but couldn't guarantee anything. -
