Hal Prince truly set the tone for our wedding at Tappan Hill Mansion on 10/31/25. Jill was a pleasure to work with in coordinating our unique sonic vision for the event. She helped us put together a beautiful violin and cello duo for the ceremony and cocktail hour, providing a mixture of classical pieces and contemporary rock songs. The combination was absolutely beautiful and our guests loved it. DJ Steve brought the party to the reception with a mixture of traditional wedding songs, contemporary rock songs, and some notable halloween theme music. Hal Prince also provided lighting which added to our aesthetic, creating a truly unique event. We highly recommend Hal Prince for any type of celebration! -

We hired DJ Steve for our wedding at Tappan Hill in Tarrytown June 28th. He handled the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. Communication before the wedding was fantastic. He helped us organize our speeches and activities, and made sure we had a song for every required moment. (a cake-cutting song?) On the day, the sound quality at the outdoor ceremony was impeccable, all of our music was exactly what we asked for, and everything went off without a hitch. At the reception, the DJ Steve kept the dance floor hopping all night long. Guests still come up to us to say how much fun they had dancing at our wedding and how great the DJ was. You can't go wrong with DJ Steve! -

The Jay Prince Band is a must have at your wedding! My husband and father are both musicians, so our expectations for finding a good wedding band were pretty high. Jay and every member of the band absolutely exceeded those expectations! They answered all our questions quickly and thoughtfully, worked collaboratively with us on the key songs for the ceremony and reception, and kept the dance floor packed the entire night! Many of our guests commented on how blown away they were by the band’s talent and energy. My family already asked them to play at my sister's wedding next year! We are so lucky to have found the most phenomenal band!!! -

I hired a DJ & MC Steve for my ceremony, cocktail hour and reception and they were terrific! My only requirement for the wedding reception was to play music across the decades, get people dancing and nothing too ratchet and they exceeded my expectations. People were on the dance floor all night long and I was so happy. I received so many compliments on the music throughout the evening. MC Steve was great on the mic and really helped get the party going. I HIGHLY recommend them for a couple who is looking for a dj to provide music. -

For 17 months Jay and I had been planning my wedding. How many couples are able to walk away from their wedding and truly say the music was beyond incredible and the best music they have ever heared much less at their wedding. Well, we were that couple. There was not one guest at our wedding who was not on the dance floor when the opportunity to dance was presented. Jay created the most spectacular music event for possible the next decade to come. My husband’s main requirement was amazing music and he didn’t get amazing music he got spectacular music that even he was blown away by. Every band member gave us their all and all of their energy and excitement and it radiated in our venue. I cannot recommend Jay and the Hal Prince band more than saying, if you want the wedding of the century then Jay and Hal Prince are your band. I cannot thank them more for giving me everything we wanted plus more. -

The most rockin' wedding
We had THE most rockin' wedding EVER. We cannot say enough positive things about this band. Jay was so easy to work with in the planning stages, and from the beginning we knew he and his team were super professional and qualified musicians - especially when we asked for Poison to be played for our recessional \m/ No exaggeration we were on the dance floor every minute except for when we were eating! "Did we go to a wedding or an awesome concert last night?!" -happy guest. On a sentimental note, Jay's band was able to play my parents wedding song (their own band didn't know it!) for the anniversary dance and it will be a forever memory (in addition to the whole day of course). One thousand percent recommend. -

Ecstatic, overjoyed are just a couple of words to describe how pleased we were with Jay Prince and his band at our wedding. First and foremost, Jay is an absolute pleasure to work with. We shared our playlists with him, met with him, discussed every aspect of what we wanted from ceremony to cocktail hour and party, and he delivered! We had some special songs that we wanted as part of the night that his band didn't have in their normal repertoire. Not only did they play them, Jay created incredible arrangements that rival the originals. Jay's band is a group of total professionals. They put their heart and soul into every song and Jay, as the band leader, is just a seasoned pro at guiding the band and the party. The dance floor at our wedding was packed from start to finish. The band seamlessly transitions from song to song, and people just don't stop dancing. The complements we've received from our guests on the music are still flowing in, almost a month later. Everyone we've met since our wedding says the same thing, "your band was great". I wholeheartedly recommend Jay Prince and his band for any party and more than that, trust him to get it right and deliver. -

Hal Prince is the best out there! We loved having Jay and his band at our wedding in October. Our guests raved about the music! We had quite a mix of people at our reception and almost everyone got out on the dance floor. Jay and his band members pumped everyone up and really helped us create a sense of community at our celebration. We just returned from our honeymoon and we kept talking about how great the wedding was. We've heard from so many guests saying that the music was amazing during all parts of the wedding... how you read the crowd, accommodated by dad's singing requests, and you crushed the guitar solo in Eat It!! Everyone had a blast and it would not have been the same without you! -

Jay & his band played our wedding this past Saturday and they were AMAZING!!! All of our guests told us that they were the best wedding band they had ever heard and the dance floor was packed all night. My husband even sang two songs with them and the band was so cool about it. They were a pleasure to work with and they listened to all of my crazy "don't play" requirements. They also performed our first dance song perfectly. We will be recommending them to all of our friends to use for their weddings in the future. Thank you Jay!!! The Hal Prince Orchestra
When my husband and I were planning our wedding, we knew we wanted to have a live band. We’re both 62 years old, and both lovers of the bands with horn sections from our youth. As we are not young newlyweds, and as my husband was a classical clarinetist, and I a singer in my past, the idea of a DJ just didn’t seem right. We looked on-line at a few different bands through various wedding websites and knew we were looking for an EXTRAORDINARY band for our wedding. I made one phone call to my friend Carolee Goodgold — a fantastic professional singer in her own right who knows a gazillion musicians and singers, and asked her for her personal recommendation: The Hal Prince
Orchestra. Period.
She put me in touch with Jay Prince, who is a colleague and friend. We spoke, we texted, we emailed, spoke some more, and I felt like like he was a long lost friend, or a guy I grew up with because of his openness, accessibility, humor, and chill attitude. We talked about the type of music that resonated with us, ( Motown, of course) and other contemporary artists and/or songs that we also liked. Our list was sent to him after we met, and we were off and running.
In addition, we had another request. I gave my daughter, (a fantastic singer and actor) the option as my maid-of-honor to either give a speech or to sing a song of my choosing. She chose the song. Jay could not have been more accommodating when it came to helping my daughter to rehearse with the band’s piano player. My daughter killed it, the song brought the house down. It was the first of several throughout the night.
Jay helped us figure out how to get the guests inside the barn gathered around the stage to hear Halle sing. Together, we came up with a plan to have the 3 piece horn section come outside and lead everyone in and around the stage á la New Orleans dirge, to Al Green’s Love and Happiness! It was fantabulous!
I cannot say enough about Jay and the incredible singers and musicians in his roster. There was not one guest who did not comment on how incredible the band was. They are the crème de la crème; the best around, and honestly, made the wedding what it was - beyond fun. I love and respect all 9 of them we had the pleasure to hire and now call our friends.

When my fiance and I got engaged we both agreed immediately that we wanted to have a band at our wedding. Hal Prince had actually DJ'd my bat mitzvah 14 years prior, so I knew the Jay Prince band would be the perfect choice. Jay, Jill, and Pat were all so wonderful to work with throughout the wedding planning process. The wedding was on a hot and humid day, but the Jay Prince band kept on rockin throughout the night and kept everyone on the dance floor despite all the sweat! Everyone is still raving about the music! I 10000% recommend the Jay Prince Band to anyone looking for a professional, fun, and extremely talented band for your wedding! -

Jay and his band orchestrated and played the most amazing music for our wedding at our home. What was special about Jay was his enthusiasm and ideas on the flow of the music, the experience, the sounds, the selection of the musicians and songs. We wanted different vibes from the welcome reception to ceremony to dinner and dancing - and he brought it on. The sound was perfect. All the musicians were top notch professionals who played with bands like Chicago and more. They were energetic, friendly and had amazing voices. You won't stop smiling. -

To me, in planning my wedding music was on my top three MOST important things. And Hal Prince and DJ Steve 100% delivered. DJ Steven matched the type of music genres I wanted for my cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing, even incorporating music from my husband's Haitian culture, to the surprise and pleasure of his family members. DJ Steve also was a great MC, facilitating our announcements, speeches and toasts, and dancing segments. I have had so many guests tell me how great the music was and how they danced the night away. I feel so lucky and blessed to have had the Hal Prince band under the leadership of Jay Prince play at our wedding. They were the highlight of the evening, and truly the best vendor I hired.
Music was one of the top, if not the most important element to me and my husband. I am a professional musician as were several of my guests, and even with our very high standards Jay and his band still managed to blow us away!
The entire wedding guest list was up and dancing the whole evening. My guests and I enjoyed the band so much, that Jay actually had to remind everyone several times to eat their meals!
Working together in planning the music selections was a breeze, Jay is extremely knowledgable and accommodating. In fact, he went the extra mile for us in more ways than one - it is very obvious that he loves what he does and each wedding is very special to him. I was VERY specific in my list of do not plays and with what our music palette would be; which the band fulfilled completely. My dad and mom also had special requests, but Jay was patient and available every step of the way.
As a host of the evening and announcing each special event during the night, they were completely classy and elegant.
The number one detail that all my guests complimented us on was our band - they MADE the evening. I cannot thank Jay and his musicians enough for giving us the wedding of our dreams. Thank you!! -

WOW! Amazing entertainment. Absolutely impressed us on every level. Music never stopped. Dancing never stopped. We had many professional musician friends in attendance and it was said that this band was the best they had ever heard. I cannot express enough our gratitude, to you and your colleagues, for enhancing our wedding experience in the way you all did. You over exceed our expectations of 'the band experience'. BLOWN AWAY is putting it mildly. You YouTube videos do not do the experience justice. You are far better, in person, than what we had seen. Your attention to detail was spot on. From set up to the sound guy we were impressed. And your singers??!! OMG what a voice! She rocked it. I was especially impressed how you took modern songs and made them your own. Every genre played, every guest happy, every penny worth it. If I could give a higher rating than a 10+ I absolutely would. Thank you so much for completing our experience. Oh and you all dressed amazingly! Just sayin. LOL -

Hal Prince was amazing to work with! My husband is really into live music, so we both wanted a live band for our wedding, and we wouldn't have had it any other way. Jay and his team were very easy to communicate with and they were very detail oriented. We were able to meet with Jay in person a few times before our wedding to discuss what we wanted and he was very responsive to emails, especially with our requests for additional songs. Hal Prince even learned a new song for us and let my husband and father sing with them at our wedding! They kept our guests dancing all night long and we still have friends and family talking to us about how great Hal Prince was! Hal Prince not only sounds amazing, but they are very personable and make you feel at ease. There are so many factors to consider and review for a wedding, but I really didn't have to worry about the band because Hal Prince really does take care of it all for you and they're the best! -

Heather Sent on 10/29/2017When I asked around for suggestions on a wedding band, I asked a TON of people. Not because I'm indecisive (actually, that's exactly what it was!) but I'm a receptionist and shmoozing is what I do! One thing was consistent--I only got one band's name. ONE! Hal Prince/Jay Prince Band.
Being of the internet generation, I stalked all social media before I committed my time to a meeting. Yet, my stalking wasn't juicy enough and led me wanting more information since they were so highly recommended, and I set up a meeting in their Kisco office late after work on a weekday (very accommodating). Pat was super responsive via email!
Upon meeting Jay we were floored by his energy and passion! He clearly loves music of every kind, loves what he's doing, and knows how to throw a good party. He showed us band videos and took the time to get to know us as a couple, us as music fans, our family's likes, and what WE wanted. He had questionnaires that laid everything out of us, and offered suggestions from a wide array of genres for ceremony music to the cake cutting songs so that the music reflected US and not another copy/paste wedding. He also honored a sentimental request; we had a recording of my husband's late father singing, and he was able to play it during the reception. It was such a beautiful moment, and we were so happy he came up with the idea to fold it in to the night seamlessly.
To sum up the evening, everyone young and old tore up the dance floor--and they weren't just dancing to dance, they were LOVING it, and as a couple we couldn't have asked for more than that! We asked for a good blend of top 40 and classics, and we gave him 5 of our favorite artists to guide him toward our taste. He NAILED it! Thank you so much to Jay and the Band, you all made a magical night rock!
