Because I had SO many women, I hired Shana to do the hair for my bridesmaids and my MIL. (I had a different stylist for me, my mom, and my MOHs) ALL of their hair turned out GORGEOUS!!! Not only was Shana flexible in terms of time of arrival (and she was EXACTLY on time!), but she was also flexible in taking payment day of (everyone could make payment to her directly) and in only doing bridesmaids and not the bride. She worked great with my stylist, and even though I had my own, I would have been TOTALLY confident with Shana doing my hair. She did an AWESOME job on my MIL who has really short and not well conditioned hair and who had no idea how she wanted her hair styled. She gave everyone a different look, but somehow they all went perfectly together and everyone looked GORGEOUS and it really added to the excitement of the day for everyone to feel so beautiful. I couldn't have asked for anything better - she was simply fabulous and I would recommend her to anyone. I knew she was good when my stylist wanted her number!

Julie is hands down the best hair and makeup artist in Utah! Not only did she do 9 completely different, beautiful styles to fit each of my bridal party's distinct tastes, she did all of us in less than 4 hours. My bridal hair and makeup was gorgeous and exactly what I wanted. She truly is an unbelievable artist, and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a bridal stylist. In fact I already did recommend her to my sister in law, who had a great experience with her as well!

We worked with Shana and Shelly on our wedding day and they were fantastic! They did hair for all of the bridesmaids and mothers and everyone looked amazing. Shana listened to what each woman wanted and made them look even better than they could've imagined. Most importantly, I told her that I wanted to be able to dance all night long without messing up my hair...and sure enough after a night on the dance floor, my hair looked flawless and so did all the bridesmaids!!

Abri at Hair by Jewels did a beautiful job on my hair, as well as a couple of my friends and wedding party. When I originally called Julie at Hair by Jewels, I explained to her that I had curly hair and was looking for a stylist that could work with natural curls without making my hair look too styled. Julie recommended Abri who did a wonderful job. She is also so sweet an calm, she helped to make the day of getting ready extremely relaxing. Everybody looked beautiful.

She is the best and I could not have chosen a better hair stylist for my big day. She is a joy to work with and talented, really top notch. Julie knows hair!! Julie did an incredible job on my hair as well as my bridesmaids. Although she is a little pricier than some of the other stylists in the area, you do get exactly what you pay for. She's in high demand so this is expected. Several of my friends had used her previously for their weddings, and all highly recommend her. I knew I wanted her for my wedding so ended up booking her well in advance, even before my trial...NO REGRETS. Absolutely love her work! She's extremely talented, fast, sweet, and such a pleasure to work with. Will be sad when she moves back to Park City.

SO FUN! I absolutely loved working with Julie. She not only does AMAZING hair but is so fun and easy to talk to! She works so efficiently and has such fun doing it. She knows what looks good on people and will kindly give you suggestions and talk it out so she knows exactly what you want. We even had a bridesmaid who last minute needed some help on her hair and Julie took a few minutes to help us out...! She was referred to me by my wedding planner and I LOVED working with her.

Julie does absolutely gorgeous wedding hair! She knew exactly how to do the "soft wave" look for long hair. Everyone kept raving about my hair. She did the style I have always wanted for my wedding. Julie did the hair for me, my 6 bridesmaids, 2 flowers girls, and my mom and mother-in-law for my October 20th wedding. She was amazing, everyone absolutely loved their hair. I could not have been happier with the way my hair looked on my wedding day-it was exactly what I wanted. She listened to me and really wanted to make sure I was 100% happy. Her hairstyles are above and beyond (intricate, unique) what I have seen from many other hair stylists (and I have been to and been in many weddings). Not to mention she is so nice and easy to work with. I would definitely recommend Julie to any bride looking for amazing hairstyles on their wedding day!

AMAZING! Julie is awesome and my hair turned out more amazing than I imagined! She did a beautiful half updo with curls. She amazingly quick and was able to do me and 5 bridesmaids in about 3 1/2 hours! Every one of my bridesmaids looked amazing and Julie was able to give them each an individual look! Julie Jackson is amazing! If you want someone who can pull off the look you want - the look that exactly matches the pictures/idea you have in mind, pick Julie. She does updo's, half ups, and everything else so beautifully! I dislike when hair stylists do up do's that are really tight and not loose and natural. Julie knows how to pull off gorgeous hair and get the right curl to complement the look you want. She is such a sweet person too - you'll immediately feel comfortable working with her!

Julie works very quickly and is very good with what she does. I like the more natural, loose hairstyle and she is perfect with that. I even had my hair highlighted with her before the wedding and it was just the right shade. My bridesmaids and my mum were also very happy with their hairstyles that Julie did for them. And she made getting ready on the wedding day much more fun. So glad that I have found Julie!

Julie did my hair and my sister's. She's wonderful! She's responsive, flexible, creative, and, if you take a quick look at the photos on her blog, you'll see that her talent speaks for itself. I particularly appreciated how flexible she was in scheduling a second trial for me after I had second thoughts about a style I initially loved but later ended up wanting to change; Julie responded immediately after I contacted her, got my on her calendar for another trial, and worked with me until we found the perfect style. I also appreciated her upbeat, sunny personality, and loved every minute I got to spend talking to her during my trials and on my wedding day itself. Highly recommend her!

I loved everything about working with Julie Jackson. She was completely flexible about my trial, and was happy trying a few different variations of the style I wanted until we got it just right. The day of the wedding, she was so much fun to be around, and she was with myself, my bridesmaids, and my mom for a few hours. Everyone's hair looked amazing, and everyone's hair stayed in place without a problem all the way through the reception. I got so many compliments on my hair, as well as my bridesmaids. Whether you wear your hair up or down (she did updos, styled my mom's hair, and did a half updo for me), Julie can do it all! Julie really added to my big day.

You will not be disappointed if you book Julie for your wedding day hair! She is super creative, fun, and extremely talented. I didn't know exactly what I wanted, but had some ideas and at my hair trial we worked together to make it perfect. My hair remained intact the entire night even after removing my veil.
She was also able to accommodate our large wedding party of 10 girls and 2 moms with some help! Everybody was beyond happy with their hairstyles. I truly think that Julie Jackson is your absolute best option for a bridal hairstylist in the DMV.

Julie is awesome!! I can't say enough about her. After having a previous bad experience with another salon, I turned to wedding wire in an attempt to find the perfect stylist. I decided I wanted a more modern/edgy look, something that was unique, but also have options to choose from. When I saw Julie's portfolio I was amazed and knew she would have to do my hair for our wedding. Having had a bad experience previously with another hairdresser, I also liked Julie's willingness to do multiple trials until I was 100% satisfied with the result. She was patient with me and took me again for a second trial until I did get the look I wanted. On our wedding day my hair looked even better than it did during the trials and stayed put all night long despite the massive amount of sweat I had produced from dancing all night long!
My sister looked more beautiful than I've ever seen her, largely in part to the awesome hairstyle Julie gave her. On top of it, she is just such a cheery, fun person to be around. I would hire her again in a second for another event!!

I highly recommend using her for your wedding hair! She is super sweet and fun to work with!

I didn't give Julie much direction aside from saying that I want an updo that is a little bit vintage, a lit bit romantic, and a lot of drama! She delivered an updo better than anything I could have ever imagined!

A thing to note about Julie that will set her apart from the other artists in the area is that she is fast! Super fast! She did my bridal updo, my sister's updo, and my mom's updo before her assistants had finished even one of my bridesmaids!

Julie amazing plus, she has a great personality! My hair has never looked better and the style lasted all night -- I was so happy. A friend commented that my hair looked great even at the end of the reception!

Julie did everything she could to make me and my bridal party happy on my wedding day! She was super adaptable and listened carefully to everyone's wants and needs as well as prepared in advance by coordinating to have two assistance there that day to ensure everyone’s hair would be done on time and with perfection so she was ready and efficient on the big day. Having the assistance was at no additional cost since there was 12 of us getting their hair done that day which is a HUGE task that she did with total ease.

On the wedding day Julie and her two assistance calm presence and easy going personalities kept everyone laughing and totally calm which was a huge asset. Julie and her assistance also worked efficiently with my mom, mother in law, Aunts, grandmother, sister, and bridesmaids to make sure that the important women at the wedding had amazing hair! My mom is still talking about how good her hair looked, and she is so impressed that Julie knew exactly what to do with her thick, wavy hair within seconds of meeting her.

I would recommend Julie to all brides without hesitation she was so fun to work with! Book her while you still can!

Julie is awesome! She can basically re-create any hairstyle you ask her. My maid of honor ended up with the replica of Reese Witherspoon's hairstlye from the Oscars and it looked just like it! I asked for an oversized very full bun, and everybody could not believe it was all my real hair. She is not only amazing with hair but an absolute joy to be around!

Julie was absolutely fabulous! Not only did I enjoy having her spend the day with my family and friends (not just one day, but two since we had a separate ceremony and reception), but also the results are fabulous! She is very talented and really does bring out each person's inner beauty. Both days she did around 5-6 ladies, from bridesmaids to my mom, and each day everyone looked different from each other and from their hair do the day before. No cookie cutter hair styles here! Not too mention Julie stayed completely calm and cheerful both days which I appreciated since I had heard horror stories from friends about their hairstylist's behavior and the last thing a busy bride needs is to worry about hair and EVERYONE getting done 100%. I just wish I had another reason to get an up do!!

If you're wondering about the authenticity of the rave reviews on Julie, believe it. This young lady is truly a star at what she does. I first met Julie at her home for a bridal trial. She was super fun to chat with and did a fabulous job on my hair. She suggested some subtle highlights and I took her advice and came back for that. Very affordable and was a great idea because the pics came out so much better- a lot more dimension. On the wedding day itself she gave me exactly what I asked for- half up, half down, loose waves. It was beautiful and held up perfectly the whole night. The veil also did not budge from the spot she put it in despite the winds carrying it for half the evening. I don't know how she did it! My sis has fairly short curly hair and she can be tough to please. When she decided last minute to get her hair done, I was a bit worried. But Julie knows how to work with every hair type..... she took all the frizz out of the hair and transformed it into a shiny soft curl look. I can't stop raving about her and although a bit pricey its totally worth it for the big day, ladies! Check out her blog.... she has pics of lots of real brides, incuding myself.

Julie is the most amazing hairstylist and I couldn't be happier I chose her to do my wedding hair. Julie did 9 - yes, 9 - hair styles (1 bride, 6 bridesmaids and 2 moms) all by herself on my wedding day, ranging from short to long hair, curly to straight hair, etc - and we all looked wonderful!!! I personally love that Julie stays away from very cliche "wedding hair" (i.e. barrel curls and uptight up-dos) but instead works a lot with texture to make everyone look more natural, age-appropriate, and chic.

Julie was so helpful at my trial and instantly understood what I was looking for. She truly took my idea and made it even more beautiful. She did a classic/vintage updo that sat lower at the base of my head/neck but still framed my face a bit and enhanced my natural curls. Additionally, Julie gave me a stunning broach for my hair - it couldn't have been more perfect if I had shopped for months for it! I just loved how she understood what I wanted and made it happen. She was just as amazing with each bridesmaid/mom in taking their ideas and giving them a perfect look that suited them.

Julie is so wonderful to be around and she was a great addition to my wedding day - all the girls loved having her do their hair and that meant a lot to me. Her prices were quite reasonable and she was very amenable to work with in terms of scheduling and booking. I highly recommend Hair by Jewels to anyone looking to get their hair done for a special occasion!

Julie is simply amazing! I loved my wedding day updo, and my bridesmaids loved theirs. She also has a warm, fun personality that instantly puts you at ease. She is a perfectionist and was relentless in making sure that I was happy with my hairstyle. She took time to listen to what I wanted, looked at my "inspiration pictures," spent hours with me at the trial and redid the hairdo several times until I was perfectly happy, and even gave me a second trial when we ran out of time on the first one. On the wedding day, I was late for my appointment and some my bridesmaids who previously did not want hairstyling decided that they did after all, so we went from 4 people to 6 people. Completely unfazed, Julie was the picture of calm, accommodated all of us, worked efficiently, and everyone had gorgeous, gorgeous hair. My hair was exactly as I envisioned - relaxed waves and a side-bun, whimsical with a touch of elegance. Looking at my wedding photos, I just fell in love all over again with the way my hair looked. I emailed Julie after my original stylist canceled on me less than a week before the wedding. She fit me in before another wedding and after I saw my hair I was so glad the other guy canceled because my hair looked beautiful! I went in without a picture or any idea of what I wanted and I walked out feeling like a princess. Not only that but my hair looked perfect down to the little curls around my face until I took it out 13 hrs later. My hair has never stayed curled for more than 2 hours. I love Julie and I am so glad that she was part of my wedding day!

My hair has never looked better than on my wedding day, and I am so glad that Julie was our stylist. I met with her a couple times before the wedding, I wanted human-hair clip in extensions. She made the process super easy and did a great job selecting extensions and I also had her put in highlights to match.

On the wedding day Julie came to the hotel and did 7 of us in total, including my mom who also wanted extensions and Julie brought them for her that day (and they matched perfectly). All of the girls looked beautiful, and my hair stayed great all night. I would highly recommend Julie to any bride in the area. She knows style and is a hair genius.

Julie Jackson is amazing! I was so fortunate that she was willing to squeeze me in before another wedding that she was already working that day.
Julie was so easy to work wtih. When I went to her house for my trial, we spent alot of time discussing what look I was going for. We tried three different hairstyles before deciding on one.
A week or so later, I called her up because I didnt like the style we had chosen, so we started over again. I told her what was bothering me and what I was hoping for, and we looked through some more photos and tried another style. When I saw myself after she finished, I was in love!! I was so happy she was patient with me and was willing to work through a second trial.

Julie did my hair and my mothers on the morning of the wedding. Mikaela did my 6 bridesmaids and 2 flower girls. Everyone's hair was perfect! I received so many compliments on my hair, it was the first thing many people complimented me on! I still have people asking about it!

In addition to being brilliant working with hair... Julie is just such a treat to be around. She is friendly and outgoing, easy to talk to and work with. You will love having her around on the day of your wedding!

She is extremely easy to work with and so accommodating. She genuinely wanted to make sure I was 100% happy with my hair. Her work speaks for herself. If you are looking for someone who understands the entire spectrum of hair design whether it's something more traditional or more modern and chic, to something that is a hybrid, she definitely is the artist to hire. She's flexible, easy to communicate with, prompt with correspondences and just a delight to work with. She truly helped me accomplish a look that was just perfect and really made my wedding day experience a day to remember for many many years to come. She help me complete the look with finesse. Juile is a hair genious! My hair is long and fine/thin, which usually equates to very little body. Juile was able to work her magic and create a gorgeous hairstyle with great height! I was dancing and dipping and twirling all night, and my hair never once fell out of place!

Julie is a perfectionist when it comes to hair. She works quickly, but she won't stop until every hair is where it's supposed to be. I can't even count how many compliments I got on my hair!!

Julie is also very personable and fun!! I'd recommend her to anyone!

Who wouldn't love Julie!? She was absolutely amazing!! Julie did a trial for both my mom and myself and nailed both of the hairstyles on the first try. I wanted my hair down and sort of natural looking, but I was curious on how to add a little flair. Julie pulled out a box of antique brooches and I immediately fell in love with one of them. She fixed my hair, added the brooch to the side and WOW... I was so excited! On the day of the wedding she was right on time and while I let all of my girls choose their own style, she perfected every single one of them... from the side bun to the front braid up-do. People are STILL telling me how gorgeous my wedding party was. And in all honesty, each of them FELT beautiful too... I could just see it in their eyes all night (and I mean ALL NIGHT). Not only does Julie do a great job on hair, but she has the perfect personality for the job. Bubbly, polite, fun, gracious... she was the perfect addition to our group of girls. I would HIGHLY recommend Julie and I can't say how pleased I am with her! An A++++ job!

Julie and her assistant did a great job on myself and my 4 bridesmaids on the day of my wedding. Even though we were under a bit of a time crunch, I don't feel like we were rushed at all, and they made us feel completely at ease (tough to do the morning of your wedding). At my trial, Julie tried out 2 hairstyles, both of which were great. When I wanted to make some minor changes the day-of, Julie did so flawlessly. I had tons of compliments on my hair. The only issue with any of the hairstyles was one of my bridesmaid's styles started to fall out, but it was easily fixed with a little spray and pinning (and it was a 12 hour day, so I'd be surprised if none of the hairstyles budged). I'd definitely recommend Julie.

Julie is an artist! She did hair for 8 people in our wedding party. She arrived right on time, was flexible, and fit in a few extra people who we added once she arrived! She created beautiful hair styles for everyone! Our hair lasted all night and even withstood the rain that started at the end of the ceremony! What a sweet and talented little thing Julie is! A happy young wife herself, Julie loves doing wedding hair and knows how important it is that a bride is absolutely happy. Julie did hairstyles for me, 5 bridesmaids, and one jr. bridesmaid -- each one different and each one perfectly suiting each girl's personality and style. From sleek chignons and low ponytails to elaborate curled up-do's, Julie did everything so well, and was a professional and encouraging presence during the tumult of my wedding morning. Her prices were competitive and I was able to book her only two months before my June wedding, when my former stylist backed out at the last minute. I found her on wedding wire and I'm so glad I did!

Julie is an amazing stylist. She will match your hair with your look beautifully. For my wedding she did all of my bridesmaids hair as well as mine. Julie and her team were fantastic! From the beginning, when I saw her website I knew she was perfect and then when I did our hair trial I was thrilled. She knew just by my description of our wedding, exactly what I wanted without me having to tell her!!! On the day of Julie and her girls were stellar, they just swooped in and started chatting with each of them to learn more about each of their personalities. The hairstyles each of my girls and myself wore were beyond anything I could have dreamed. My hair looked like something out of a movie, and it stayed put the entire night!!! Abri.Is.Amazing. When given the Hair by Jewels recommendation, I reached out to inquire about my weddng. I had a small list of just two bridesmaids and Moms along with myself for the day...it quickly grew to around 9 when we got closer to the day, and Abri took it in stride. I have very thick, long hair and wanted a retro style updo for the big day (I mean BIG- my hair was huge!) and Abri was so happy to accommodate my request for something different and unique. People couldn't stop complimenting my hair all night; they told me I looked like a 1960's movie star, which is exactly what I was looking for. Abri also did everyone else's hair that day and was patient with late arrivals and some coordination and timing issues with family members...not to mention, she did all of this at more than 8 months pregnant! She is the sweetest, kindest and most talented artist I have ever had.
Something to note is that they do have a fairly high minimum for onsite services ($600) and for small bridal parties, that's tough. The cost for Bride's hair is also higher than other places I got quotes from, but it was well worth it to know what kind of work Abri was capable of. I cannot wait to go back for her for a big event!

Abri did a fabulous job on my wedding hair and on my bridesmaids' as well. She was so easy to work with, was a great listener, and was easy going (even when I asked her to redo some of my curls). She was top notch and I'd definitely recommend her to anyone... I only didnt give 5/5 stars because I felt like it was pretty expensive, especially for my hair which was really just down and curled (but still was very pricey) and considered an "updo"
But overall, Abri made it all worth it because she was great :)

I hired Julie at the last minute (3 weeks before the wedding) as my original hair stylist was not going to work out – which was pure luck as she had just had a cancellation. She was very accommodating and allowed me to do a hair trial the only time I could: 11am the day before the wedding, which I appreciated. She has a really nice approach to updos – she texturizes the hair before putting it up so that if any hair falls out of place, it just looks like part of the original style. So, my hair didn’t look messy even when my updo began to loosen at the reception after hours of dancing. She also has a lot of experience doing all manner of wedding styles, so it was very easy for me and each of my bridesmaids to get a style we liked. If you show her a picture she can replicate it very well, which sounds like it should be easy for a stylist, but I’ve definitely had my hair done by stylists who can NOT do that. Though I had 9 women who needed to have their hair styled, Julie gave each woman an updo and had everyone looking good and happy with their look within 6 hours, without an assistant. Basically Julie performed a beauty miracle and made all of us look better than the stylist I had originally hired could’ve done, in less time than other stylists had estimated

I would recommend this vendor for sure!! She did the hair for me (bride), three bridesmaids, and a mom for my recent wedding. Everybody looked SO GREAT and everybody loved how their hair came out. Julie was SO accomodating of my wedding party, our desires, and our needs the entire time we were working with her. She went above and beyond to keep in touch with me and schedule my trials. I can't give her enough praise about how amazing she was in terms of being determined to work with me on scheduling trials. She listened to exactly what I wanted and really made me feel great. The only minor complaint I have is that my hair was definitely falling out by the end of the evening, but then again, I have horrifically thick hair and it looked great for most of the day, so it was fine. Overall I was immensely happy with the style, with Julie's personality, and with all her work for our bridal party. I would gladly serve as a 100% positive reference for her and really think you should book her for sure!!!!

Julie was fabulous to work with and did an amazing job on everyone's hair. I absolutely LOVED my hair during the wedding day. It matched perfectly with the overall feel that I wanted and it held up all night even when we went out side to take pictures on the windy day! Julie is such a joy to be around and is so enthusiastic about everything she does. You can tell that she really enjoys what she's doing. I actually had about three trials (some were while I was getting other things done to my hair) and Julie was always willing to listen to me and made the minor adjustments which really got us to the final perfect result. All of my bridesmaids were also beyond pleased with their hair. Each of them looked amazing and received compliments all night. Julie also works extremely fast and was great at keeping us on schedule which is very important when you have a hundred other things going on.

Hair by Jewels provided hair and make up services for my wedding day with stylists Shana, Lindsey and make up artist LaToya.

I had a mixed experience. During my second trial, Shana dropped the bomb on me that she had booked two weddings on the day of my wedding, and that the other wedding had been given priority in scheduling her time. I was a bit shocked as if they booked before me I was never informed of the second wedding and if they booked after me I wasn't asked for my preferred time slot. This double wedding proved to be an issue. I had 8 people who needed hair services, and the stylists were clearly rushing to get through us all before they had to be at the second wedding. A few girls had issues with their hair, and while the stylists did fix those issues, it was frustrating because I was last, and felt like I had little to no leeway with make adjustments due to the time crunch.

Additionally, because they were rushing to get out, we had to settle up the bill fast. We had to do some quick math, and in the end, were overcharged by 100 bucks. Also, when we went to tip them, we did the math too quickly and gave them a tip that was too small - and one of the stylists let us know. We were so embarrassed. We tipped them more, but it was definitely unneeded stress on the big day.

LaToya, our make up artist, stepped in and fixed my hair once the stylists left and turned out perfect. LaToya was not double booked that day and stayed until I left for pictures. LaToya was PHENOMENAL. I have never had my make up done so well before, and so many people commented on how great my make up was -- all credit to LaToya. She also broke down all the stress from the stylists departure and made us all feel at ease. She was wonderful. I am planning to go to her for my brows, and for a make up tutorial! Id recommend Hair by Jewels for LaToya alone!

From what I understand, Hair by Jewels is planning to stop doing the double bookings, which I think is very smart!

Shana Dee did the hair for my brother's wedding. My mom does not like putting product in her hair (and looks beautiful without it), and told Shana and her assistant that she did not want product put in. Shana told my mom (the mother of the groom) that she would would look ugly, awful, and that it would ruin the bride's day (the bride would not have cared about this at all). I was truly shocked by how rude and mean she was. There was a back and forth about my mom not wanting product put in for about 10 minutes. It was embarrassing and the opposite of what one expects. A hairdresser for a wedding should be making people feel beautiful, not tearing them down.
