Hacienda Azucena completely blew our expectations away!! It’s such a special venue in a beautiful part of Puerto Rico, and they made our wedding day truly unforgettable.
They followed our visual direction perfectly while adding their own thoughtful touches that elevated everything even more! Working with Carmen and Stephanie was an absolute dream and every step of the process exceeded our expectations. Planning a destination wedding can feel intimidating, but they made it feel effortless!
By the time the day came, all I had to focus on was being present and enjoying every moment. The decor, florals food, DJ, cake and overall experience were incredible.
We received so many compliments from our guests! Not just about how beautiful everything was, but about how intimate and special the entire day felt. Many said it was one of the best weddings they’ve ever been to.
If I could relive our wedding day, I would in a heartbeat. 20 stars if I could. -

I had my wedding at Hacienda Azucena, and I cannot stop singing their praises! The communication with Carmen and Stephanie was always excellent—they were incredibly thorough with the coordination. We didn’t even have the chance to do a rehearsal, but they assured me they would guide me every step of the way, and they truly did. Everything turned out perfect.
I was running a little late because hair and makeup took longer than expected (not HA’s fault at all), and just as I started walking to the ceremony deck, it began to rain. Carmen and her team immediately moved everything inside and somehow made it even more perfect. It was absolutely beautiful.
The food was great, and the staff was so attentive. I requested traditional coquito for my guests, and let me tell you—it was the best I’ve ever had! I highly recommend it for anyone having a Christmas wedding.
The decoration completely blew me away. The venue is already beautiful on its own, but the décor made it feel even more magical. Every single detail we discussed was perfectly executed. I couldn’t have asked for more from the venue.
My only small downside was the DJ. We asked for Cuban and Puerto Rican music—salsa, merengue, and bachata. I didn’t hear much Cuban music (my husband was a little disappointed but too shy to say anything), and at one point I heard music in English. It had great rhythm, but we were hoping to keep things more traditional. Still, it was no big deal—our guests enjoyed the music, and that mattered most to us.
Aside from that, I fully recommend Hacienda Azucena. The prices, the venue, the decoration, the staff, the service—everything was amazing.

I chose to have my wedding at Hacienda Azucena and stay here for 4 days, this was the greatest decision!
Thanks to Carmen she planned the best wedding. She put together a personalized package for my wedding with everything included this made
it so easy for us a stress free process! She knows the best team of people! Everyone had the best time, Carmen’s attention to detail is amazing I am so happy.
The house and location itself is so breathtaking the pictures could never do it justice. We stayed here with 10 people it was so comfortable and peaceful the most beautiful house I have ever stayed in. The sounds of the rainforest and the lush greenery surrounding you, I was in heaven.
Everything was way more beautiful and perfect than I could have imagined. The officiant was friendly and made the ceremony fun, we had a very good violinisit, the makeup/hair artist did an amazing job I was in love with the outcome, dj was great at mixing he did a great job,the food tasted like a homemade meal my mother in law would make it was delicious, the cake was amazing I couldn’t get enough, the servers and bartenders were attentive and friendly,everything was phenomenal!

My wife and I decided to have our wedding here after much discussion and looking at destination weddings, but we made the PERFECT decision coming here. Everything was beautiful and from start to finish, they handled the details from flowers, food cake all the way to seating, music and get ready rooms. We never saw the venue until the day before, but it was well worth it!
The ceremony was beautiful and started during sunset time. The reception on the terrace and food had everyone talking for days after. We were told by multiple people it was the best and most beautiful wedding they've ever attended.
Stephanie and her mom acted as day-of wedding coordinators to make sure everything went as planned. We opted for a tropical themed wedding and colors, and the flowers they arranged for were perfect! Every detail was thought out and taken care of by them. We had two-three video meetings in the months leading up but besides that and sending Venmo payments, that's all we had to worry about.
The get ready room for the girls upstairs was huge and was great for relaxing, getting ready and having views of the surrounding rainforest area.
Our photos were taken by extremely talented travel and adventure photographers pronetowanderphotography (Insta: drinkofwater and Matt Johnson: chatomatto) who I would highly recommend reaching out to if you book this place. They know the venue and area now and took so many awesome shots. -

Amazing!!!!
We loved everything about our experience with Carmen and Stephanie at hacienda azucena! Carmen took care of every detail. It was as simple as sending some photos of your vision and they will make it your reality! Most importantly, I’m extremely grateful for Carmen’s professionalism. She was above and beyond. Words can’t express I it gratitude. Two days before our wedding, our band and dj cancelled on us. I called Carmen and she told me not to worry, she will handle it. Some would say it was a miracle that she was able to pull a band and dj together that very night. But the truth is she’s just really great at her job and deserves all the praise for it. The entire staff here was incredible. All were Extremely friendly and accommodating.
The place itself, is absolutely stunning. Pictures do not do it justice. I had family fly in from all over the country and the venue took everyone’s breathe away. My sister in law is recently engaged and plans to have her wedding her after attending our wedding.
If I could do it all over again I would choose hacienda azucena every time! -

I can’t recommend Hacienda Azucena highly enough. They helped us plan the perfect event and i honestly don’t think it could have gone any better. It started with a detailed planning meeting in which they listened to our wants and needs. They communicate frequently and take care of everything. On the day of the wedding they had everything in place and made our event the party of a lifetime. Not only did they take good care of myself and my husband but also all 26 of our guests. The venue is beautiful and the picture opportunities are endless there. Anyone considering a wedding in PR should contact them immediately! -

Photos don't do this venue justice! As a hospitality publicist and a Puerto Rican woman it was important to have a unique wedding that reflected my culture and supported an independent and locally owned business. I visited many venues that seemed capable and experienced, but they all felt generic and cookie cutter. Hacienda Azucena, Carmen Ortiz and her team of vendors and staff went above and beyond to help me execute the wedding of my dreams. She even took it upon herself to build a chuppah to respect my husband's Jewish faith. As someone who has planned many events, I was impressed by how Carmen meticulously took care of every detail. She was firm yet caring, accommodating yet realistic and made the entire wedding process from NYC as painless as possible. All of our guests and family commented on how stunning the venue was and how seamless the evening was. Our guests absolutely loved the staff and they felt like part of the family by the end of the night. From the bottom of my heart I can't thank Carmen and her team enough. I only wish we could recreate this experience every year...lol! -

There are not words to express the amount of gratitude I have for this place and the owners. Carmen and her husband stepped up to make our wedding day magical, even though we booked last minute. She made it happen. And, they are just genuinely the kindest people. They love this place and they love weddings, and it shows in every detail. The property is paradise. Pictures don’t do it justice. My husband and I just got married at Hacienda Azucena in January 2020, and everything was absolutely perfect. The venue was magical, the flowers were stunning, the food was delicious. Carmen was so easy to work with throughout the whole process, and took so many things off of my plate that I would have had to coordinate from Wisconsin if we had not chosen to use her. The DJ she selected did a great job, and I honestly only exchanged one email with him with our chosen songs. I only sent her pictures of a few cakes and flowers, yet she managed to capture exactly what I had in mind. She even put together a bouquet for my mom at the last minute. I'm sure I could have been more specific about a lot of things and she would have captured those as well, but it was so nice that I was able to leave so much of the coordination to her.
The week of the wedding we were able to stop by to see everything in person, and Carmen was so welcoming and put all of my worries at ease. Most of Puerto Rico was without power due to the earthquakes, but Carmen explained their generators and how she would make sure we wouldn't notice them--and we didn't. I'm I would recommend Hacienda Azucena 100%. -

Hacienda Azucena is the perfect destination wedding location. It was honestly a dream location. We planned our wedding in a couple months and basically sent them a Pinterest board and told them to run with it. They executed everything with perfection. Our wedding was everything we dreamed of and more. Plus it was all within budget. -

I got married here on November 3, 2019. I must say never actually seeing this venue in person was nerve wrecking but when I did it blew my mind. I was speechless and so worth the anxiety lol. On a mountain in a rainforest, just think about that. Carmen was polite, respectful, and amazing! I have no regrets!!! Thank you for a memorable wedding!! -

This place is beautiful! We couldnt have asked for more. All of our wedding guests were very impressed with hacienda acuzena. We sent our decor, food & cake ideas to carmen & she exceeded our expectations. The venue is perfect for about 50 guests or less. The bridal suite is clean & perfect for getting ready. There was an area for my husband to get ready as well. The only vendor i had to find was my photographer. (Mofoto) & he charged under $1k for 5 hrs of drone videography & photography. She made my bouquet as well. (rio grande is 30 mins from san juan) -

Unforgettable and unique wedding experience!!
We got married at Hacienda Azucena a couple weeks ago and still can't stop thinking about how beautiful everything was! We first contacted Carmen in March for our December wedding and she was quick to provide us with a quote for a wedding package. We were planning a small destination wedding (less than 30 people) so it was so helpful to have Carmen organize just about everything for our special day. The only aspects we booked separately were our photographer and a Mariachi band.
We actually hadn’t seen the grounds before the day of our wedding so we were totally amazed when we got to the Hacienda! Honestly, the place is so beautiful it hardly needs any decorations but Carmen and her family were able to create beautiful arrangements and place settings. Everything was so well done, elegant, and tasteful. We requested traditional Puerto Rican food which was excellent, and no one could stop talking about how great our cake was! She saved the top cake for us to freeze for next year but it was so good, we couldn't help ourselves and ate it the next day! haha
We are thankful to Carmen and her family for planning such a perfect day for us, allowing us to enjoy the planning process and the wedding day with minimal stress. I would recommend this venue with no reservations for any couple wishing to have an intimate and unforgettable wedding. I even keep joking with my new husband that we should get married again so we can go back to Hacienda Azucena!

Sara Sent on 08/05/2018I think it is important for people to know how ABSOLUTELY AMAZING the Hacienda Azucena is. The venue, the staff & CARMEN put together the most PERFECT day of my life. My fiancé and I planned this wedding from California. I sent Carmen pictures, we went back and forth in email and phone calls and I was so nervous to actually see how it all turned out. She captured EVERYTHING I asked for. Our guests called it the “best party of the year”. The venue was GORGEOUS, the decorations were PERFECT, the food was delicious and the staff were so kind and helpful. I would give this a million stars if I could. It was absolutely, the best day of my life and I am forever grateful to the Hacienda Azucena, Carmen, Jaime and the entire staff. We are beyond grateful that we found Hacienda Azucena. Carmen and her daughter Stephanie are an amazing team and made our wedding even more special and beautiful than we ever could have imagined! We did not get to see the venue before booking but we had a good feeling based off the glowing reviews they have on WeddingWire. We are so glad we went with them and many of our guests have said it's the most beautiful wedding venue they've ever seen! The view from the ceremony area is incredible and 10x more stunning than you can capture in a photo. The decorations for the reception area far surpased my expectations. They are so so talented! They even accomidated my gluten allergy by making a gluten free cake that was DELICIOUS and we had a few vegetarian/vegan guests that they made special meals for. They all said the food was fantastic!
I cannot say enough good things about Hacienda Azucena. We were so happy to find a locally run venue (vs a big resort) so we could support the people of Puerto Rico and their beautiful island. Hacienda Azucena is an absolute dream venue for a small or medium size wedding or activities. My husband and I didnt like the idea of a 4-wall ballroom. And this place was the most perfect choice as every guest could roam free in the beautiful outdoors.
The food was great, the decoration was absolutely beautiful, just like I wanted and Carmen and the staff were very attentive with our needs and our guests. Everyone talks how much they loved our wedding and it was the best day of our lives! We highly recommend it.
Final thoughts:
Cost- even though the food, decorations and coordination were included i think the cost is a little high for the amount of guests we had (70) when you add all the other costs of a wedding.
Coordination/Decoration/Organization: I had to constantly ask for updates and pictures or how things were gonna go the day of because i didn't feel like it was being planned just 1 month before the wedding, (but maybe that was just me) The day of, we felt lost in terms of timing didn't know the cues of what to do next etc.
Photo booth: our family had a surprise photo booth for us and we had some resistance with the placing since it was said with short notice and couldn't accommodate them, after some negotiation it was placed perfectly in the dance floor.
Again these are our thoughts and opinions!
We can't thank Carmen and the staff enough for making possible such a beautiful wedding and for being so kind to us and our families and treat us like family of their own! -
