DJ Chris was an absolute joy to work with!! From the very first meeting we knew he would bring the best vibes. He was an absolute professional throughout the entire process and we didn't have a single AV concern through the entire process. We loved everything from the soft groove of dinner to the banger of a dance party he threw. He also helped us cut our music for all our dances and every transition was flawless!! We are so glad we got to have DJ Chris as part of our special day :) -

She picked up on things mentioned in toasts and conversation and incorporated them into the music of the evening. She matched the vibe of what we wanted and elevated it. The dance floor was packed all night and guests raved about the music! -

We booked Groove is in the heart & DJ Clare for our wedding. We had a wide range of music tastes and weren’t sure how it would all come together but Clare handled it effortlessly. She read the room, kept the energy going, and made sure every moment had the perfect soundtrack. From the pre-ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, to the dance floor, everything flowed beautifully. We didn’t have to worry about a thing Clare had it all under control and kept the party going. She covered everything from oldies and Suavemente to Blink-182 and somehow made it all feel cohesive and fun.
One moment that really stood out was when we asked to include a specific meaningful slow song that was used as the first dance at my husband’s brother’s wedding. Clare was completely receptive and even offered to call them out before playing it, turning it into a sweet and memorable moment for everyone. Thank you Clare!!!

Groove is in the Heart was very responsive and helped us get set up with the right DJ for our wedding: DJ Clare! DJ Clare was incredibly communicative from the moment we signed our contract. She sent over a thorough worksheet with questions about audio throughout our day, including some we had not yet thought of. Her playlist for the reception was perfectly put together based on an inspiration playlist, and the must-plays were well-spaced throughout the evening. DJ Clare was an immaculate curator of vibes, professional at all times, and discreet when necessary (father/daughter dance song was a surprise for the bride). I would recommend DJ Clare and Groove is in the Heart to anyone looking to hire a DJ for their wedding, especially if you're particular about music! -

Groove Is In The Heart was our wedding DJ at the Firehouse Chicago. We were paired with DJ Clare who made the planning process easy and enjoyable. Music is an important part of my husband and I's relationship so we had a very clear vision for what we wanted for our ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, first dance, and reception music. Clare not only executed our vision but even took some creative liberties that both surprised and delighted us.
Clare made sure the dancefloor was always packed throughout the night and really helped make this the grand, joyful celebration we wanted for our wedding. Our guests raved about the music and are still talking about how much they had 2+ weeks later. If anything, it was hard to leave the dancefloor because Clare kept playing hit after hit haha.
Cannot recommend Groove and DJ Clare enough for your wedding or special event! -

THANKS DJ CHRIS!! Choosing Groove is in the Heart to DJ our wedding was a great choice and we couldn’t have asked for a better night! The dancefloor was always packed and the songs flowed so seamlessly thanks to DJ Chris! We had a lot of "asks" of him pre-wedding / must play songs for the night / and queues to hit during the ceremony, dances, and speeches, and he was so receptive to it all. Thanks again Chris for a spectacular night - 10/10 recommend! -

My husband and I had our wedding at Room 1520 in Chicago, IL. DJ Clare was our DJ for our evening wedding and reception. Don't let Clare's quiet demeanor fool you, she is a power house at keeping the party going! Our guests kept commenting all night "this DJ is SO GOOD!" Our guests danced the night away! We would love to work with her again for any future events! The whole company was easy to work with from start to finish. We highly recommend them! -

DJ Clare, We do not have enough characters in this review to gush over how much we love DJ Clare and Groove in the Heart! From start to finish, Clare handled the crowd and slayed the dance floor music. Mics were set up on time and in place for speeches, requests from the guests were played in the best, most timely manner, and everyone from old to young was DANCING!! At the beginning of our wedding planning journey, we were convinced that we wanted a live band to play all of our favorite songs and stir up the crowd. Once listening to our playlist, we were assured that Clare's music would carry the night, and that it did. We are so lucky to have had the support and love show up on the dance floor. Don't think twice if you're looking for a DJ. Groove in the Heart is the way to go!!! -

My husband and I got married last weekend, and we still have guests telling us that their voices and bodies are recovering after screaming along to hit after hit and breaking it down on the dancefloor at our wedding!! DJ Clare was INCREDIBLE, and had every single guest - from 4-year-olds to 80-year-olds - dancing all night long. We met with DJ Clare numerous times before our wedding date, and she was always quick to respond to our questions and comments. We especially loved that Groove is in the Heart immediately sets you up with the DJ who will be DJing your wedding, because we found that is not always the case with DJ companies, and we felt so secure in knowing Clare was there from the start of our planning to the end. Do yourself a favor and hire DJ Clare for your wedding - you and ALL your guests will have the BEST night of your life! -

Groove is in the Heart did an awesome job for our wedding! Anna and DJ Evan were easy to work with - didn't require too much attention and let us do our own thing. We came with a few ideas and Evan listened and executed flawlessly - He was also super personable and flexible throughout the wedding day, which is a huge plus. Our dancefloor has repeatedly been described as "LIT" as we have recapped with friends and family in attendance. Evan did an amazing job of reading the room and changing up the vibe, when needed/requested (80's Alt really gets the people going). Highly recommend using Evan and team for your upcoming weddings and events! Thanks guys! -

We worked with Anna and DJ Clare and had an absolutely incredible experience. Anna was always helpful and quick to follow up with any billing/admin questions and DJ Clare was the perfect blend of confident and accommodating. She was the most down-to-earth DJ we spoke to. We had several people compliment the music at our events and ask for the playlist... I told them they'd have to hire DJ Clare! -

Highly, HIGHLY, recommend Groove is in the Heart!!! We worked with DJ Jessi and her DJing was nothing short of perfection from start to finish! Dancing was the most important part of the day for us and DJ Jessi went above and beyond to make sure the dance floor was rocking. Our dancefloor was truly packed all evening and DJ Jessi used her extensive DJ knowledge to successfully incorporate our less traditional requests (jam bands music and Monster Mash). Right from our first meeting with her, we felt confident in DJ Jessi because she not only showed us that she understood what we were looking for musically for each part of our day (ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and dancing), but also proactively raised questions/ideas that we had not yet considered or did not know we needed to consider at that early stage in the planning. DJ Jessi was also proactive about getting on the same page with our other vendors and coordinator so that she could make logistical announcements and help us stick to our wedding timeline--and we did! On wedding day and in the weeks that followed I got what felt like 1 million compliments about DJ Jessi from our guests. Could not speak more highly of DJ Jessi. Look no further and book Groove is in the Heart DJs!!! -

Clare was a dream to work with - we gave very general ideas for our songs and she nailed every single song. Before our event and during the reception, she was communicative and made sure we knew exactly what was going on. She worked the mood on the dance floor and every time had a great time!

We had the absolute pleasure of working with Clare for our wedding and she was lovely! We had several meeting to go over what type of music we are looking for and how we wanted the night to flow. She asked a bunch of questions and she always responded to our emails in a very timely manner. We felt like she really listened to us and what we wanted out of our wedding and it showed by how much fun we had! She has a very high music IQ and took time to really understand the vibe we were aiming for our reception which she executed to perfection. We had a wonderful experience with Groove and DJ Jessi was the BEST! Our initial DJ we booked (through a different company) had to cancel. We luckily found Groove/Jessi - they were absolutely fantastic with putting our mind at ease and jumping right in to learn more about us, our music style and what we envision for our wedding. Jessi was great communicating with us up until the event and let's just say Jessi NAILED the assignment. The entire wedding went off without a hitch and no one left the dance floor the entire night (including the brides)! I cannot recommend Groove and Jessi enough - book them for your upcoming wedding!! -

We loved working with DJ Clare with Groove is in the Heart DJs. She and DJ Natalie completely understood our vibe and successfully navigated several generations of dancing from swing, to club, to rap. Clare was so understanding when we had some personal things come up and ended up missing a meeting and was more than willing to reschedule a couple of times. We also appreciated the graceful way they navigated song requests that were on our "do not play" list. :) Would recommend Groove is in the Heart (and Clare and Natalie specifically) to anyone! -

Clare was an incredible DJ and really brought a warm and exciting energy to our wedding. We collaborated on some playlists, but then she really took our direction and went with it, PERFECTLY. She also handled announcements and some other extra things exactly how we wanted, and made everything run so smoothly. Total dream! Highly recommended. -

Tim Quinlan was DJ for our wedding
d to cancel our dream wedding. Celeste Hamilton, the owner and operator of Room 1520 pulled many strings and made our special day happen one year to the day later, this past Sunday. Celeste arranged For Tim to be our DJ, and we could not have been happier. He was in a word- AMAZING! He communicated in advance and set up meetings to discuss the entire format of our wedding. He was organized, and arrived early for set-up. He continued to communicate with other individuals/event staff as needed. I organized a slideshow, which required music played as it began- Tim worked with us to pull this off flawlessly!! We could not have been happier to work with him. Most important- Tim is just an all-around great guy. He is super personable and outgoing, and he is passionate about music. Everyone commented, "the music was awesome at you're wedding. Where did you find that DJ? Can you give
Us his information?" If you are lucky enough to have Tim be your DJ for your next event, you will NOT be disappointed :) -

Wish I could give 6 stars for Tim from Groove, he did such an amazing job. Pre-wedding, he had multiple calls with us to get everything from our music tastes to the flow of the day down. He really made sure that we had thought through everything and had a full plan ready to go. Then the day of....awesome. From incorporating last minute changes to the schedule with ease (something much appreciated as not everyone was so flexible day-of), to making sure that the vibe never died. We had people on the dance floor all night long, and Tim made sure everyone was feeling the music. We had kids, grandparents and all our friends going non-stop until the very end, I'd never seen such a wide group say that late on the floor and it was all due to the music being played. Could not recommend Tim enough for anyone looking for a great DJ for their event. -

After half-heartedly emailing several different DJ companies and being less than thrilled with their responses, my wife somehow ended up emailing with Groove is in the Heart. We were searching for a woman/Queer DJ (all our vendors were LGBTQ and/or woman-owned, on purpose) and while all of Groove is in the Heart's DJs that fit this description were unavailable for our date, Groove is in the Heart Office Manager, Tim (aka DJ Windy Timmy), shared that he occasionally stuck his toe back into DJing weddings, had DJed every pride on the chamber of commerce float, and happened to be available the day of our wedding. Seeing as it was less than two months before our wedding (we saved DJ for last for some reason), and this was the first good feeling we had had about any DJ company, we quickly scheduled a meeting, had a drink together, and gratefully booked him. He helpfully laid out the process, sent us a massive playlist, walked through what we should do on our end, and in general was both fun and easy to talk to throughout the whole process. He somehow managed to be both professional and organized human AND made us believe in the power of DANCE.
We encouraged him to wear a ~party outfit~ but he rightfully dressed conservatively for our ceremony and broke out the party duds for the dancing portion of the evening. He followed our ceremony notes perfectly, remembered all the last minute details we shouted at him, and helped us throw a seriously good dance party. I did not stop dancing for one minute once it was party time and Windy Timmy kept it GOING. The dancing was seriously top 5 most fun experiences of my life- felt like I had a curated dance party just for me that was professionally mixed by none other that Windy Timmy, a delightful, fun, for-real DJing human who represented Groove is in the Heart perfectly.

When I began my search for a DJ company, I was so overwhelmed. The prices seemed ridiculous and they were so gimmicky! I wanted no nonsense, no chicken dance, but I wanted our dance floor to be packed all night. Groove is in the Heart DJs were everything I could have wanted. I met with Carrie and knew right away that she was the perfect match and the price was great! My husband and I created a Google Sheet laying out the songs we wanted for specific parts of the wedding and she was very open to giving us control of the cocktail hour music, but we relied on her to keep the dancefloor packed during the reception. Leading up to the wedding, we met a couple times in person,she but besides that, she was very responsive to emails and assisted me in picking out ceremony songs. For the announcements, she wrangled the bridal party and got us in order before doing the announcing us herself. She also made sure we knew what was coming up and where we should be. I never saw her sit down.
I highly recommend Groove is in the Heart DJs and I am confident that the other DJs are just as wonderful as Carrie was. She couldn't have been more perfect and we loved working with her! -

THE BEST DJ. Our DJ WindyTimmy played AMAZING music throughout our whole wedding on 6/8/19. The dance floor was PACKED the whole night and even his song choices during cocktails and dinner had people coming up to me asking where we found him. Look no further, seriously. Professional, kind and amazing DJ who actually knows good music and doesn't just rely on all the typical jams. He really gathered what our style was and played a bunch of songs by artists we LOVE that we didn't even tell him to play! (They even share their Spotify playlist with you where it makes it easy to pick songs you want to hear, and add ones as well) Would 100% recommend!!! -

We used Dan as our DJ for our wedding. He was easy to work with professional on time and played many of the songs that we requested . Our guest had such a good time we actually had to kick them off the dance floor !! Carrie was exactly what we were looking for in a DJ and more! We were looking for a DJ that would truly read the crowd, skip on “typical” wedding songs like Cupid Shuffle, and facilitate a downright awesome all night dance party. Carrie did more than deliver! Our dance floor was packed the whole night and she did any awesome job of balancing music for our friends and family. I still have friends and family raving about how much fun our dancing & night was, and I credit so much of that to Carrie. She was also just super fun and chill and easy to work with! I would recommend her to absolutely everyone and would love to work with her again! -

When a last minute medical emergency happened the week of the wedding within a few hours she already had someone ready to fill in and had given him all the information about our wedding. We hopped on a phone call with him that night and it became clear instantly we were going to be a great match. Carrie was always available and willing to help where so could in the meantime. Evan ended up DJ-ing our wedding and he was PHENOMENAL. Played our requested songs, did an awesome job announcing the wedding party, etc. What stood him apart from other DJs I've seen at weddings is Evan's ability to read the dance floor. He knew when to play what kind of song. Everyone had a great time and a lot of my guests came up to me afterwards to comment on how awesome Evan was. Would 1000% recommend! I cannot say enough great things about this team. -
Claire Sent on 04/13/2018Everyone commented on the music from our wedding. It was our most consistent compliment, hands down. We got married on a rooftop on a 96 degree day in early June. It could have been a disaster, but I believe Carrie saved it. The music was so good people I had never seen hit the dance floor were drenched in sweat breaking it down. And the best part was, during the preparation Carrie just got us. It was the easiest part of the planning process and yielded the highest reward. We met once over drinks and told her the kind of radio we listen to, the songs that held meaning to us and a few bands we definitely hate. We told her the overall vibe we were going for and that once the bar opened we just wanted everyone to have a good time and let loose. She nailed every. song. And stood there on a 96 degree rooftop the entire time like a total pro. And she brought all her own equipment and didn't up-charge us for anything along the way. I would hire her again in a heartbeat.

We had a great experience with Groove is in the Heart and DJ Dan for our June 2021 wedding! Dan met with us before we hired him and right before the date of our wedding to make sure he had a good picture of what kind of music we wanted. He was great about making sure we heard what we wanted and catering to other interests, like my dad's esoteric taste in East coast beach music. We felt confident in his music selections all night long. The only reason I'm docking a star is because I thought Groove was slightly overpriced for the services provided – though well within range for the Chicago market.
