Incredible Staff and Beautiful Venue
My experience with Griffin Gate was wonderful. From the beginning their staff has always been very responsive and able to answer any of my questions. For the kind of venue that this is, I feel like they are fairly priced and they include a lot of incentives. Originally, we were only holding our reception at Griffin Gate, but about a month and a half out from our wedding we asked if we could have our reception there as well due to our church not being able to host the amount of guests that we had due to Covid. Griffin Gate was under fewer restrictions and allowed us to have our entire wedding at their venue. They made this process seamless.
One of my favorite things about the planning process with Griffin Gate is the tasting event that they hold. Their food is absolutely scrumptious and they have out a lot of examples for various reception items. The tasting was very helpful and reenergized me about our planning process.
Due to Covid there were some slight changes, but overall we were able to have the wedding that we wanted. Jenna and Paige were fantastic, and very helpful. Jenna almost always answered my emails very quickly and responded to everything that I touched upon in the emails. She made the last few weeks of planning very smooth, and always kept me in the loop. I would highly recommend this venue! -

Incredible Experience
The team at the Griffin Gate worked tirelessly to make sure my husband and I's wedding weekend a huge success! From our first visit with Jenna, through every site meeting with Morgan, we could not have asked for better service. They helped us make our rehearsal dinner at the mansion and our classic brunch wedding the perfect time for us, our family and our friends. I could not recommend another venue more! -

Beautiful location
The place was beautiful! And they had serval locations to accommodate guest sizes etc. We couldn't use them because the cost was a little over our budget but I highly recommend! -

We had our ceremony on the Bluegrass Pavilion patio and reception in the Bluegrass Pavilion (tent.) Words can not describe how beautiful it was and what a great job the staff at the Marriott did. We had perfect weather and my event coordinator, Leigh Dalton, helped to make a day/night that we will never forget! Our rooms were top notch and so were the guests and they helped coordinate everything we asked from the day before the ceremony through the weekend. I was worried that the tent would look like a tent - but WOW! - we were blown away at home beautiful they made it. There wasn't a thing that went wrong that day. They paid special attention to ALL the fine details and took away all the worry on our ends. We made a weekend of it with friends and played golf the next day! The golf shop and manager, Colin Gooch, was awesome and went out of their way to accommodate our needs and make us feel very special. The Marriott was well priced, compared to a lot of other venue sites, and really worked to help us with the budget we wanted to stay in. Leigh worked tirelessly from start to finish (time we signed with them to day of wedding and after) to ensure our day was magical - and it WAS!!!!! I am truly grateful to everyone at the Griffin Gate for making our wedding day so darn terrific and we will NEVER forget this day/weekend! AMG-S -

We got married outside on the Mansion lawn and held our reception on the Mansion patio. Everything was beautiful and well executed, the staff could not be better! Shari was our coordinator and took care of absolutely everything. If you want a relaxing and stress free wedding day, this is your place :) -

The staff at the Marriott Griffin Gate were SO great! They were extremely helpful from our first meeting all the way through until after the event was completed. They made every effort to ensure that everything was as we wanted it to be. And there are some GORGEOUS places throughout the property for wedding photos! We couldn't have picked a better venue for our wedding ceremony and reception! -

Our wedding took place on 05/17 and it couldn't have been more perfect. Leigh Dalton was my wedding coordinator and she was such a joy to work with. She made sure ALL my concerns were taken care of, ALL my questions were answered, and made sure everything was in order before the wedding began. The grounds are beautiful and everyone on the staff is so helpful. The food is delicious! My guests are still talking about how good the steak was. We seriously could not have asked for a better wedding. This place is amazing and I recommend tying the knot here!!! Best of luck planning future brides! :) -

I had my ceremony and reception at the Manor, I had a great service. Courtney was the sale manager and Jenna Walker was the organizer. I planned my wedding from Chicago. They made my wedding possible in 4 weeks. They accommodate me and met me on Sunday for planning. All what I heard was yes and possible. They helped me in my wedding in every possible way. The Marriott family took a good are of me. I just relaxed and enjoyed my day. Thank you so much! -

The Griffin Gate is a wonderful place to have a wedding! It was exceptionally clean and put together, very elegant looking without the stuffy attitudes from the staff. Our wedding coordinator, Anthea was so helpful in each and every step of the process. We would not have been able to plan this wedding without her help. She is so knowledgeable and wants each event to be perfect for the couple she is helping. If you are a long distance bride or a bride in the area, request her ! We never felt pressured to up our budget or that we weren't important because we weren't spending enough. I was always able to ask her any questions and felt extremely comfortable with her. The Griffin Gate can be viewed as more expensive, but it was important to us that all of our events were at the same location (no driving!). We tried to make things convenient not only for our guests, but for ourselves. We loved paying a flat fee for all of the linens, serve ware, venue, and clean-up and set-up. All of the staff was very accommodating and helpful, even after the event when talking about the bill. We can't say enough great things about the Griffin Gate ! -

Our wedding and reception was held at the Marriott Griffin Gate. The reception was in the Bluegrass Pavillion and the ceremony was just outside on the patio. Our event coordinator at the Marriott, Leigh Dalton, was incredible. She was always so patient and very responsive. She never said no to any request we had. I could not be more pleased with how seamless Leigh made our wedding and reception. The resort is beautiful, the food is wonderful and the staff so nice. Even the guys setting up the dance floor and chairs were so nice to us even while we were checking out the progress while they were trying to work. The bridal suite was fantastic and was a great place to gather the night before and day of our wedding. The rooms are newly renovated with Tempur-Pedic beds. My husband and I were extremely pleased with everything! -

This was the best possible place to hold a wedding. It made my life so much easier at such a busy time. The planners worked with us to select centerpieces, linens, locations, and food. The food was great as was the service. The rooms turned out beautiful for the ceremony and the reception and the staff was very responsive to all of our needs and helpful in setting up all of the decor. I would recommend them for any event! -

We choose the Mansion at Marriott Griffin Gate for both our wedding ceremony and reception. What a great choice! The coordinator and staff at the Marriott take care of so many things for you that it eases the stress on the bride leading up to the big day. The venue is stunningly beautiful as are the grounds. The food is fantastic! I would choose it again in a heartbeat. My only complaint the whole day was our bartender who was extremely rude and unprofessional towards my husband. One call to the coordinator and he was removed from our venue and a new bartender was in place before the ceremony even started. Overall, well worth the money we spent. Would do it again in a heartbeat! -

The Marriott was perfect for what we needed for our wedding and reception. Most of our guests were coming from out of state so being able to hold both the ceremony and reception at the same place where everyone was staying without requiring a lot of, if any, travel was extremely convenient. Our ceremony was beautiful as well with the white mansion they have on their property being our backdrop while our guests sat on the lawn. The reception site couldn't have been better as well! We were able to decorate everything the way we wanted, and they were more than willing to help where ever needed. Our event coordinator, Leigh Dalton, was incredible also. Her promptness, knowledge, and courtesy to myself and my guests was very much appreciated and needed. Leigh even went so far as to pull a few strings to let us use an event room to assemble our flowers and decorations for no additional charge. I would highly recommend using The Marriott for events, especially if most of your guests are from out of town. -

Jenna Walker is the most amazing wedding planner. From the support in the first phone call to the personalized note and food tray waiting for us after the reception, she handled absolutely everything perfectly. I was so thankful to have her to turn to for all of my needs in planning, and recommend her in the highest regards. While it is more slightly more expensive to do an all inclusive option for a wedding venue - the staff, location, and ease of planning with Griffin Gate is well worth it. -

We had a wonderful experience with Marriott Griffin Gate! We worked with Leigh Dalton and she was great. Very responsive and incredible helpful and professional. The Marriott was the best value we found with what we wanted, but it was still a bit pricey (but that's a wedding for you!). It was a perk that our family and friends from out of town could stay there too. Everything was wonderful on the day of our wedding. Very beautiful! -

The best advice I can give about this location is make sure you know exactly what you want and make sure you tell the event coordinator. We assumed too many things, some of which ended up okay, however, others ended up a disaster. Make sure you keep up with everything that is agreed upon, things don't always get noted in your file. Overall, the venue is spectacular and the convenience of having everything in one location is great for out-of-town guests. We were happy with our decision for the most part, we just would have made a few different choices and would have been more specific with our requests if we'd known that we needed to be. -

The execution of the events of the day went reasonably well although there were some hiccups with AV resources being readily available and the space being cleaned up from the event the night before. Be very specific on times/deadlines and expectations up front and communicate these repeatedly with the wedding/event coordinator. It was helpful to have golf carts available for the wedding party since the hotel campus is quite sizable. We didn’t get a chance to to taste the food before our event (warning it costs $150 if you don’t do it on the singular catering tasting date in the summer), but it was edible. There is a service fee, so ask about that because it could be a budget breaker. The venue is beautiful, and I am happy with the end result that I achieved in the ambience of the event and what was captured in pictures.-

It took a lot of our time to plan the reception with this vendor. Our wedding reception was nice and the staff was accommodating, but the cost was ridiculous! We were "nickel and dimed" for every little thing. If cost is not an issue, then by all means book your reception at the Marriott Griffin Gate. If you are on a tight budget, please look elsewhere or review all of the charges in the agreement very closely prior to signing anything! -

Run as fast as you can away
Whatever you do, DO NOT have your wedding at the Griffin Gate Marriott. This venue is the most unprofessional, disorganized, and downright embarrassing place to ever host an event. From the very beginning, we were passed around from person to person and nobody ever had the same information regarding pricing or what’s included with rentals. We were made promises in order to get us to book with them and it was very obvious it was all lies and manipulation. Our original venue we were supposed to have our wedding in was absolutely disgusting 3 days before we were supposed to have the event. There were ruined carpet tiles from flooding, bugs and cobwebs everywhere, mold and mildew on the walls. It was not fit to eat a meal in. Kelsey was our event coordinator (if you could even call her that) The entire process she was incompetent and unable to comprehend simple emails about headcounts and pricing that we had to tell her over and over and over again we’re incorrect. She was also non existent the day of the event so when they try to convince you you don’t need a coordinator because they have their own do not listen to them. We were supposed to have access to our venue at 8 pm the day before the wedding to set up our decor. They booked it out the day before the wedding and allowed that party to stay until 10 pm when they were supposed to be out by 8. We ended up having to take down the stage that was set up in their ourselves so that we could start setting up for our event. The day we arrived at our bridal suite, the AC was out and it was 90 degrees outside and their resolution was to bring up box fans to the room for an entire bridal party to get ready in. It took them 3 hours to get it fixed. The day of the wedding we were promised 6 golf carts to take the bridal party around in for pictures and that also was a false promise. We finally found one and then a manager came over and ripped the keys out of the golf cart and threw a temper tantrum about how we weren’t allowed to be driving the golf carts. The food was also served ice cold and they didn’t even have enough silverware for all of our guests. The list goes on and on why you should NEVER host your special day here. The best part of it all? They had the audacity to send us a bill for “overages” (that were again incorrect) and charged our card for them without our consent. RUN as fast as you can AWAY from Marriott Griffin Gate. If I could give a rating of -10 I would. -

Unprofessional staff ruined our wedding night
We had our November 2021 wedding at the Griffin Gate Marriott after having to postpone twice due to COVID, so over the course of 2.5 years we worked with four different event coordinators. Throughout the planning process, multiple postponements, and staffing changes (a frustrating experience to have to start the process from scratch over and over), our experience was relatively positive. Unfortunately due to the few negatives we experienced at the event itself, I have to say DO NOT BOOK YOUR WEDDING HERE!!!!! Further explanation of what happened is detailed below, but the actions of a few staff members completely ruined our wedding night and left us in tears. The joy of our wedding day was completely stolen from us, which I never imagined would happen, but I DEFINITELY never imagined the venue would be responsible for it.
Our contract stated our reception was from 7pm-midnight. During our final round of planning, we decided to have the "last song" at 11:30pm to give us some buffer time before the event ended. Our event schedule did list 11:30pm, but it's important to note our contract always stated midnight. At a point during the reception, we asked our DJ/Coordinator team to talk to our event coordinator and see if we could continue the music until midnight since we were running behind schedule and the dance floor opened late. This is a very normal request since almost all wedding schedules run late, so you would think a hotel group that specializes in hospitality and event planning would know how to handle this request. Our event coordinators had already left the event, so the question was directed to the catering lead, who approved us staying until midnight since our request was only involving music and dancing, NOT extending the bar hours or any other hotel services.
Sometime between 11:30-11:40pm, members of the hotel "security" team began to threaten the DJ to turn off the music or he would call the police. My husband was summoned over, and both my husband and the DJ reiterated to security that we were approved to have the music on until midnight. The security team was EXTREMELY rude with ZERO thought that they were starting an argument with a groom on his wedding night that was three years in the making. We decided to have the last song to avoid any further confrontation, so the music was off by 11:45, but the police were still called. The security team was on a power trip, the MOST UNPROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOR I have ever witnessed, and they were yelling and threatening my husband and many guests. Meanwhile, the catering lead (who approved us staying until midnight) did right by us and was defending us to her colleagues. That didn't matter, since they ignored her and continued on their power trip. Even the police announced they should not have been called and eventually left on their own.
The fact that this venue has awful, thoughtless people ruining a couple's wedding night is beyond my comprehension. We went through an extremely emotional time during COVID as many did, and this day was supposed to be the day we imagined finally happening after three years. It ended with staff members screaming in our faces and abruptly ending our own wedding. There were family members and friends we had not seen in years that we didn't even get to say goodbye to. Luckily the venue comped our rooms/suites and gave us some of our deposit back, but all in all that is about 10% of the total amount we paid Marriott for the entire event. Icing on the cake - the general manager said in addition to the small reimbursement they gave us, they would be sending a $250 restaurant gift card as a personal apology. We NEVER received this, so we are left with the feeling that our unhappiness and anger at these events are not actually being heard or valued by Marriott staff.
We will not be giving Marriott our business ever again, and we have made sure to share this unfortunate incident with any friends and family looking to get married in Lexington. -
