Very good value!!

Green Mill was incredible solid and the price was incredible! They had lots of great options for apps, dinner, dessert, and even add ons like late night pizza. The food was very good, I remember liking it while I was eating it, but it was not so spectacular that I remember it now - which is exactly what we wanted! We got really good food for an excellent price and we could spend the rest of our wedding budget on things that were more important to us. Additionally their staff were communicative and professional, there were no issues day of the wedding, everything went very smoothly!

Breakfast Food for the WIN!

We enjoyed having Green Mill caterer our wedding. There were a lot of staff around available to assist with anything if needed. We had breakfast, which was SUPER nummy and the guests loved it! We had a little display of pastries for our dessert table, which was great to grab and go.

The food was so Good!

We had a buffet style dinner with airline chicken and butternut squash ravioli. The food was so good everyone complimented the food quality. We even got compliments on the mashed potatoes. The late night pizzas were excellent as well. The service and communication before the wedding were great.

Amazing Food + Great Staff

Green Mill Catering & Bar Service was so easy to work with. We did a lunch buffet and the food was delicious! The day-of staff did an amazing job with set-up, dismissing tables, managing the bar, etc. I would highly recommend Green Mill to anybody and everybody for any event!

Amazing Wedding Caterer!

Green Mill catered our wedding dinner on October 3rd and they were absolutely phenomenal! Their customer service is above and beyond- one of the best vendors I've worked with! They always responded in a timely manner, the tasting was amazing, they showed up on time and their presentation was beautiful! All the servers were professional and took every COVID precaution. We got compliments from all our guests that it was the best wedding food they've ever had- and I have to agree! They far exceeded our expectations. My husband and I couldn't be happier. We would highly recommend Green Mill!

Great catering with Green Mill

Green Mill catered dinner for our wedding as well as provided the alcohol and bar service. We had a great experience with them, and they provided delicious food and good service for a very reasonable price. They were very easy to work with during the planning process, and the staff on the wedding day were clearly experienced and kept everything running smoothly. They also had gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options. We highly recommend Green Mill!

Delicious buffet

The guests loved the coconut chicken skewers, both entrees beef tips and chicken piccata. The food was served hot and everyone complemented how good it was.

Impeccable Service

We utilized Green Mill Catering for a Corporate event and the service we received was impeccable. Katie our catering manager was extremely useful with suggestions to make our event a success! The stuffed mushrooms and meatballs was a huge hit with out group.

We had a great experience with Green Mill - we contracted with them through our venue and couldn't have been happier! Our guests all said the food was great, we did a buffet which was set up really nicely. They provided complimentary bread, coffee, water, etc.

We looked at several caterers for our daughter's post destination wedding celebration luncheon. Green Mill was great from the initial tasting to the final event. Everything was seamless all of the way through. Questions were answered promptly. All staff were friendly and helpful. We truly made the right choice and would choose them again for any catering need. Highly recommended!

We hired Green Mill to cater our wedding and they exceeded our highest expectations! We were very taken with their scratch kitchen offering for catering. We were able to sample and order anything we wanted, modifying some of their most popular dishes to exactly how we wanted them. The food was amazing and very high quality. We were leery to do buffet style with the food sitting out for 220 guests, but it all stayed very fresh, warm, and was maintained with a watchful eye by the staff. We received so many compliments and many guests said it was the best food they’ve had at a wedding. Patty Gustafson at the Woodbury location was outstanding. She was diligent to ensure that we got exactly what we wanted and worked very well within our budget, never pushing us out to make a better sale. She only cared about what we wanted and made sure it always fit our budget. Throughout the entire process she was exceptionally responsive and always touched base. The serving staff were timely, professional, polite, and efficient. I cannot imagine having a better experience with any other caterer. We recommend Green Mill to anyone for any occasion.

Green Mill was amazing to work with. We worked with Sarah Carter and she was awesome!! First off our tasting was unbelievable, so much food and we got to take the leftovers. Let's just say we had dinner taken care of the next several nights. Food the wedding night was delicious. We got many compliments. We were told by guests the serving size was good and the vegetables were perfectly cooked. We were able to have 3 meal chocies for a plated dinner without adding extra fees which was something other caters had.

Green Mill was fantastic to work with!! Our contact was Sarah Carter and she was SO accommodating with answering all of my questions and addressing my concerns. The brunch buffet at our wedding turned out wonderfully and our guests raved about the food. Everything looked beautiful and service was seamless.

Green Mill did an excellent job with our wedding food and bar service! We worked with Andrea at our tasting and to book the service.. then Katie was the manager on-site at our Wedding! They were both fantastic to work with :) We did the taco bar at our summer wedding and everyone said it was delicious! We also loved how they gave us flexibility in the bar service... we didn't like the idea of a totally open bar so we decided to pay for 1 keg + 18 bottles of wine for our guests... then when those ran out, it turned into a cash bar. The entire team was very professional and friendly!

I was also super happy that they provided all our table linens + colored napkins for us. The room looked BEAUTIFUL.

We definitely recommend working with Green Mill :)

We had appetizers and a buffet catered from Green Mill for our wedding. The food was actually very good. A lot of our guests commented to us that it was the best wedding food they had ever had. Not only that, but they did a complete room flip for us and provided all the silverware and linens. I would highly recommend Green Mill! (Oh, and they threw in 10 free late-night pizzas for us)

Green Mill was fantastic catering our wedding. From our first meeting with them, to the end of the night of our wedding, we felt very special and,well, catered to. There was so much food at the tasting we couldn't get through it all, but they boxed the rest up for us and sent it home with us! They had great suggestions, especially for a non-alcoholic toasting beverage since we did not serve alcohol ( sparkling pear juice, had never heard of it but it was perfect!), and met with us and the venue to finalize all the details. The day of the wedding the event staff reached out to me to make sure everything was okay throughout the day. They even let me know when the bakery delivered the wedding cake because I was so anxious to see it. They went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly and I didn't have to worry about anything. I would recommend them to anyone for any event, they were fantastic!

Green Mill Catering and Bar service was outstanding for our June wedding. Sarah was very organized and helpful throughout the planning process. The food was delicious, and our guests told us they were impressed with what was served. The bartenders were also very friendly. Highly recommend!

We used Green Mill for our cocktail hour, bar service, and dinner for our November Wedding! We would highly recommend. From start to finish the service was great and the food was delicious! The staff for our tasting were very well organized and informative--they let us know of all of our options, and were very accommodating when it came to providing meals for guests with certain dietary needs. We felt very well taken care of on the day of as well. They worked closely with the reception coordinator to make sure everything went smoothly--and it did! I certainly enjoyed my meal, and we received many compliments from our guests as well. They checked in with us a few times during dinner, and had a point of contact for when we weren't there in case anything needed to be addressed. Great service and great food--can't get much better than that! 5 stars!

Green Mill was great! The food tasting was fun and informative. Renee and Sarah were very timely in their responses. We had such great experience with them that we decided to use Green Mill for the bar. The food was delicious! Even our guests complimented us on a great dinner. We served dinner family-style and loved it. Our guests appreciated not having to wait in line for a buffet and everyone was able to eat at the same time. Family-style also saved a lot of time and allowed us to get through dinner and get the party started!

We had our groom dinner here and it was amazing. The food was on time and very delicious. The price was reasonable and was nice to have our own bar in the room. It was a little crowded since we did go over the limit, but they were able to squeeze in another table to fit everyone. I would highly recommend having a rehearsal dinner here if you want to keep it simple. Friendly staff and amazing to work with.

Renee and Sarah were fabulous to work with! They were able to do custom items for us - such as a Cheetos Bar and a Bacon Bar for our reception! Our entire day was uniquely us and that did not stop at our food. Renee listened to what my husband and I wanted and they were able to execute is flawlessly. Beyond the planning process- the servers at the reception were phenomenal and on top of everything during the ceremony. I would recommend Green Mill to anyone for their wedding - they went above and BEYOND our expectations. Everyone at our wedding continued to rave about the food - even after the the day!

Renee and Sarah from Green Mill Saint Paul were fantastic! They were always very responsive to my e-mail (replied within a week) and were able to accommodate my requests (ex. using napkins as a base for the center pieces). Everyone at the wedding raved about how delicious the food was and how much food was available. The pizza at 10 pm was a hit with everyone even though they kept saying how full they felt.
The bartenders were great and filled our (bride and groom's) glasses before toasts so we weren't stuck with empty glasses during the toasts.
One thing I would note if you would like the top tier of your cake cut make sure to mention it beforehand. The top of our cake wasn't cut and we didn't want to keep it so we ended up just giving it away.

We had the green mill cater our wedding reception and the food and services were wonderful. We chose to do the dinner served family style and it turned out perfect. Our guests liked that they didnt have to get up to get their dinners yet it was still kind of like a buffet in that they could still have options to choose from at their table. We had chicken marsala with garlic mashed potatoes, a baked mostacholi and fresh green beans, a strawberry bleu salad and dinner rolls. It was fabulous. All the food was great. We would highly recommend the green mill to cater your wedding!!

Absolutely delicious!!!! Green Mill was so incredibly helpful with helping us devise a unique meal that would satisfy everyone while keeping our budget in mind. We tried many different dishes during our tasting and got to take home a ton of leftovers.

We received countless compliments ("best wedding good I've ever had"). The 10 free pizzas were awesome and gone in minutes; I wish we had gotten more!! I recommend them to everyone I know who is planning a wedding. So good!!!!!!!

WOW! What amazing food! All of our guests were raving about the Green Mill food. I couldn't believe the quantity that they gave everyone. I think I had almost an entire chicken on my plate! They were wonderful to work with and cannot recommend them enough.

I had no idea Green Mill did catering until I reserved our reception venue at FIVE event center (awesome, see review) and Green Mill was one of their preferred caterers. I worked with Nikki and Sarah and they were both so organized and professional. We went back and forth on the catering menu until it was exactly what we wanted and they were so accomodating! I was planning from out of state, so had my relatives go and taste test and they all said it was delicious, and they were definitely right! We had prime rib and the spinach tortelloni buffet ($30 per person) and so many people went back for seconds! Plus they include all the linens, dishes and silverware with the price per person which is so convenient. They also cut and serve your cake for no fee. All the servers were well dressed and polite and always very attentive to the tables. The buffet went very smoothly and there was never a time when people were waiting for a dish to be brought out. I'd say all 120 of our guests were through the buffet within 20 minutes max.
Green Mill is the best kept secret when it comes to wedding catering, and I highly highly recommend them!!! Thank you Nikki, Sarah and Green Mill!!

Who would have throught Green Mill would be such a great caterer for a wedding? Believe me, I was a little skeptical but holy cow- Awesome! Most food at wedding is pretty gross in my opinion- our food at our wedding kicked other wedding foods butts for sure!

Everyone was so impressed by the food. We got Chicken Marsala, Pork Loin, and Spinach Tortelloni- all very good...ESPECIALLY the chicken- everyone was raving about it. We had an upgraded salad with a raspberry vinegrette, pecans and gorgonzola cheese and that was fabulous- people that don't like salad liked it . We had our wedding at a library so there was no "kitchen" there, but everything was warm as well, which I was pretty surprised about.

GREAT value....cheapest place we could find and probably the best food we found as well so it was a double win. Nikki and Sarah had us for a tasting and were extremly helpful with answering questions before we made our decision. Sarah was my contact afterwards and was very responsive and helpful with any question I had- she was actually there helping with everything the day of which was very surprising to me...made me feel so comfortable knowing someone who know exactly what I wanted was there.

Oh, and they also comped our cake cutting and gave us free late night pizzas for signing within 2 weeks (I think it was 2 weeks) of our tasting. They really made our decision easy, and we are so glad we went with them!

Green Mill did a fabulous job catering our wedding! From the consultation and tasting to the service on our wedding day, they pulled everything off seamlessly and professionally. We were blown away by the food at the tasting and the service that they provided. We had a consultation 2 weeks before the wedding at our venue, where we went over exactly how the day would go in terms on the timeline and what we wanted the staff to do. The staff was so accomodating and ended up doing many things on our wedding day in addition to serving the food. They put flowers in our centerpieces at the last minute and lit candles on the reception tables. They were more than happy to accomodate any request that we had. We have gotten so many compliments on the food and service and have had many people say it is the best food they've had at a wedding! Thank you so much to all the staff for helping make our wedding day go so smoothly!

The food was great and the people we worked with were great! The day of the wedding everything exceeded our expectations and we encountered no problems. What sold us on Green Mill is that they dont charge for each plate, glass, napkin, etc. like a lot of other catering companies do, which makes the cost rise fast.

Green Mill Catering was great! My contact person (Nikki) was extremely helpful and always there to answer my questions! She was also very flexible with our meetings. Her staff was also great to work with! My spreadsheet calculated the wrong count when I gave them my final count and they were very good with letting me give them the correct count for the bill. The food was awesome and the price was even better! I would highly recommend!

My husband and I got married in St. Paul on 2/16/13 and Green Mill catered our wedding, which included about 135 guests. They were great from the start! Our tasting was months before the wedding, but it was a wonderful experience. Afterward, we knew Green Mill was it and canceled our appointment with another caterer for a tasting. Working with Nikki and Sarah was also a great experience. Both were helpful, flexible, and professional. On our wedding day, the food came out hot, on time, and in large portions - which everyone appreciated. Green Mill also provided pizza, which was 100% consumed by guests, along with linens, place-settings and glassware, all of which were elegant, but simple, which was what we wanted. We would certainly recommend Green Mill Catering to couples looking for excellent food at a price that they won't find with most other quality caterers in the metro area.

We booked Green Mill Catering for all of our wedding food and alcohol needs. They provided us with a buffet for our reception dinner, cake for our guests, as well as bar services. We had pork loin, chicken, mixed vegetables, roasted potatoes and salad in a buffet, and chocolate stout cake for dessert for our guests. The food was probably the best wedding food we have ever tasted, and our guests thought it was delicious! We had a lot of compliments throughout the course of the night.

The catering manager, Sarah Carter, was also great to work with. For months she kept in contact with me regarding changes in menus, guest counts, and samples of different food. She was very accommodating and flexible, and the day of our wedding went right as planned. She even picked up our wedding cake from Frenchmeadow Bakery in South Minneapolis on the day of our wedding and brought it to our venue!

The only reason we didn't give Green Mill a 5/5 was because we had a few hiccups in our invoices throughout the planning and payment process, however once brought to the appropriate people's attention, these issues were resolved quickly.

Believe it or not the food was really really great for the price. We had a big taco bar for our guests and they LOOOVED it. We had multiple couples that had already been married talk about how they wished they would have done this.

Great variety of food and great price!!

We had green mill cater our June 30th wedding. The chicken teriyaki and new york strip steak were delicious. Our guests loved the cheesecake/pie desserts.

Green Mill was great for our event. Our venue had either Green Mill or Sterling Catering as options and we went with Green Mill as it was a more affordable option. We did a taco bar and passed hor'd'vours and everyone loved the food. They were willing to work with us to provide a custom vegetarian taco filling option and made it easily available the day of.

They also provided the alcohol for the evening. The bartender was friendly and helpful. Green Mill worked with the winery to put together a bar package that included their wine as well as beer/liquor options.

They were great. We loved our tasting (and got to take home the leftovers which was amazing and much less pressure to eat everything!) On the big day they did a really good job of making sure everyone was happy. The head caterer was very impressive and accommodating (when people would clink their wine glasses for us to kiss, he would come help me sit back down because my ballgown was hard to get up and down in. Very nice gesture!) The only complaint I had was that they poured the water in the wine glasses and wine in the water glasses but it wasn't a huge deal. Food was good, servers were friendly, it was a great party! And the late night pizza was very appreciated.

Food/Flexibility/Wedding day staff:The food was great! I was also very happy that they were able to set up the linen's at my venue a day in advance! That was a big help! The staff that was there on my wedding day was great. z

Cleanliness: However, I found the overall cleanliness of the dishes (mainly the water goblets, about 60% of the 125 goblets) nasty and not up to par. I should have taken pictures! Some of the dishes had giant coffee stains, gunk on the bottom base of the glassware, and even several lipstick marks on the goblets! I was completely grossed out. When I contacted the Green Mill they were very nice and said they would take care of it.

BUT, when I came in on my wedding day, I saw one Green Mill employee using a cloth napkin to "buff" the marks away. Which hardly seems up to heath code especially if there were lipstick marks, gunk, and dark coffee stains... It just made me wonder if they were ever washed the water goblets in the first place?

Professionalism: Please proofread your e-mails. I don't feel like I should sign anything that says "Cakle" cutting or really think about what you are saying when you e-mail me that you managed to "here" my message...

Responsiveness: Instead of calling me when I had a concern about my dirty dishes, the catering coordinator sent me an e-mail. Does she really think I check my e-mail the day before my wedding?

Our only bar option for our venue was Green Mill. They were hard to get a hold of at first. I had my items set for what I wanted which was host bar with only the certain beer and wine I requested (no liquor). The week before our event, another person who I hadn't worked with emailed/called me about the event. I confirmed the host bar with the specific beer and wine that we wanted at our event. The night of our event, I got there and it was set-up for liquor and multiple beers and wines. I asked the bartender why there was more than what I asked for and she said it was a cash bar. I was upset that I had confirmed multiple times what we were having and they didn't have anything correct. I don't know if it was an issue because the catering is through Minneapolis and the bartender was in a different state location. I was very disappointed with Green Mill catering.

The quality of the Green Mill food was good but the service was poor. I asked for plated salads and bread on the table which was in the contract, and it was discussed 3 more times and they still didn't do it. The staff said they didn't know. They also would take weeks if not more to respond to emails and often times did not respond to the questions that I asked. They also "accidentally" added a $400 extra charge to the final bill, that luckily my dad noticed. Overall, if you are a couple that wants responsiveness and you have specific details than don't go with Green Mill but if it is quality of food for a good price than Green Mill is a good choice.

Inexperienced staff, and likely overcharged us after the fact.

GreenMill staff was inexperienced serving my son's wedding reception. They put the dessert out BEFORE dinner. Had no clue on how to dismiss tables to the food line, and cleared plates when guests were not done eating. The bar staff said we barely put a dent in the beer and wine (hosted). But GreenMill said we went over budget on alcohol!! What???

This review is just based on the liquor catering, not the food. Out of 4 vendors I contacted, Green Mill had the most expensive liquor prices. They also charged more for open bar than cash bar, tacking on an extra 10% tax and 20% service charge that doesn't apply to cash bar. When I asked what the service charge was for, the rep explained that people consume more drinks at open bar, requiring them to provide more cups, napkins, labor etc. No kidding!! Have they ever heard of concepts like fixed cost, marginal cost and profit margin? Needless to say, I'm booking another vendor.
