My (now husband) Rian and I worked with Erich to design a custom shadow wedding band for my vintage heirloom 1973 engagement ring made by my grandfather, using some sapphires and diamonds I had in another ring I had inherited from him. In addition to the band coming out even more perfect than I had imagined, the experience was absolutely stellar. Coming from a family of jewelers, I had extremely high expectations that were met and surpassed at every point! Erich showed such care and curiosity about our very precious pieces and the stories behind them, and designed a ring that perfectly matches my vintage piece. Erich also cleaned, polished, and and inspected both my engagement ring and my husband's vintage band so that everything looked brand new on our wedding day. In my family, it's important to have a jeweler that you can return to time and time again to keep your pieces in top shape and I know we have found that with Green Lake! We look forward to working with them for years to come!! -

We bought my husband's wedding ring here and we are so grateful for the amazing service we got from our ring designer, Vinh. He walked us through all kinds of different styles, talked us through all kinds of ways to design the ring we envisioned, and helped us stick within our price range throughout the process. The team was so helpful and respectful at every visit - including serving us coffee :) They also let us come in a few days before our wedding to polish my husband's ring and my engagement and wedding rings, even though we didn't purchase mine through them. We're so happy with the beautiful ring they designed, thank you! -

Green Lake Jewelry Works have a beautiful show room and lovely pieces. We had a very enjoyable appointment trying on rings, and Vinh was very responsive to our preferences and made great suggestions. I ended up designing my own piece that turned out beautifully, but felt like I could have happily purchased something in the store on the day of. The design process was easy and fun, and we’re so happy with how it turned out. -

We have loved the experience at Green Lake Jewelry works and more importantly, we LOVE their designs. He chose one of their designs and an already made ring and then customized the center stone to create something truly unique for me. They’ve been great at helping us with sizing afterwards and figuring out other things for other jewelry projects too. -

I can't recommend Green Lake Jewelry Works highly enough! My fiancé and I went to the Northgate store to find out what possibilities there might be to incorporate part of a piece of family jewelry into my engagement ring. We worked with Rebecca and had a wonderful experience from start to finish. She talked us through our options, helped us figure out what we wanted, and designed an absolutely beautiful ring for us, keeping us up to date all the way through. She was very transparent in answering all of our questions on everything from quality of materials to pricing, and was fabulous to work with every step of the way. She even worked with my fiancé to be sure he was able to surprise me with the ring when I wasn't expecting it. We plan to go back to Green Lake Jewelry Works for our wedding bands, and would recommend it in a heartbeat for any type of jewelry! -

Designed my dream ring!
Had an amazing design experience with Sophia, who created my dream ring. She clearly explained each step of the process to us, from trying on wax models to selecting an antique diamond. We had a lot of fun watching our vision come together, and it only took maybe three or four visits total. Not an inexpensive process, but a terrific value, and it gave us exactly what we wanted. -

Katie Sent on 11/08/2014At first when I thought about getting engaged, I was nervous - I am not a fan of diamonds and wanted something different. Every setting I see in traditional jewelry stores are nothing like what I would want.
One day, while doing research on stones, I came across Green Lake Jewelry Works and fell in love! I was so impressed by the work, and when I contacted them they were so quick to respond back with helpful suggestions. They said that I would be able to send them a loose stone and they could set it in a band that we could design. We went through several stages, and the person we were set up with (Shelly) was fantastic and so responsive throughout the entire process!
We gave Shelly sketches of what we wanted, and she was able to come up with the most beautiful CAD drawing/rendering of what my ring would look like. She helped us through the process of picking out the perfect gemstone and then we went to wax modeling. She sent it to us and we loved it! Next thing we knew, we were getting engaged and when I saw the real thing for the first time - I was so shocked (after crying for a long time and hugging my fiance). It is the most beautiful, unique ring I have ever seen! I can't wait to see the wedding bands that my fiance is designing as well (best thing is that they will all have similar elements - something that you can't always do unless you design your own). The other great part is that the prices are SO reasonable! It only cost a little more than we were originally going to spend - and having a ring that we designed is totally worth it!
Thank you Shelly and Green Lake Jewelry Works for all that you have done! The rings are phenomenal. I couldn't imagine anything better and I look forward to wearing it for the rest of my life.. because let's me real. When you get something this perfect you don't ever need to change it =) -

Keri Sent on 03/20/2013When we first set out to look for an engagement ring together, my fiance and I thought it would be pretty simple to find something that I loved. Once we made the rounds of the various stores, however, we found that no one quite had exactly what we were looking for. We could see quite clearly what we wanted - and no one had it! So we set out looking for somewhere that we could design the perfect ring.
Green Lake is not the first place we found when looking for custom designs. We spent a while working with another designer, and the experience was easily one of the most painful things we have done while planning the wedding. After spending months going back and forth with that company, and essentially being told that what we were looking for was impossible, we finally decided to look elsewhere. It was a very frustrating decision to make, especially after spending so long trying to design the ring with that company. But now that we have had the pleasure of working with Green Lake, I am so very happy we found them!
My engagement ring is, essentially, the ring of my dreams. Its craftsmanship is absolutely stunning, and they worked very hard with us in designing a one-of-a-kind setting that other people said wasn't possible. Our representative, Ellie, was extremely helpful and responsive, and worked very quickly and skillfully to put together the design of the ring. She listened when we sent back comments, and modified the design as necessary as we went on. Every interaction with her was kind and friendly, and it was a pleasure to deal with her. The skill of the artists who hand-carved the band is clearly evident in the ring, and I have gotten endless compliments on it.
I would definitely recommend Green Lake to anyone who is looking for a one-of-a-kind custom ring. They make designing a ring enjoyable (as it should be!), and their professionalism and skill is clear in every aspect of the process. -

This ring has so much wonderful intricate detail-I get compliments everywhere I go!!! When it came time to find a wedding band-there was only one place to go. They worked with us to design the perfect match to my engagement ring-complete with sketches and everything!! Service was nop-notch and speedy, they answered any question we had and can pretty much do anything you dream up as they custom design their own jewelry. We'd looked a few shops months before, and he worked with Kirk at Green Lake to design the perfect ring. It was just what I wanted, and it was even more special because he'd designed something truly unique. I received so many compliments on it. We went back to Green Lake to for our bands, and once again the process and the final products were wonderful. Their customer service really is top notch! Also, while some people have commented have rated Green Lake lower on the value for cost standard, their prices were certainly less than similar rings at some of the "custom" high end retailers we'd visited. My fiance also did some on-line research and said their prices were similar to other sites he'd looked at...and he never felt pressured to get a bigger stone or upgrade components, which was not like our experience at a number of shops we visited. We think their jewelry is certainly a value when compared to chains, given that you are getting something truly unique with fabulous customer service. -

We loved the idea of GLJW because you work with the designer directly. OUr designer was Aaron Barr--he was professional and friendly. After you pick a design, a deposit is required; balance is due upon completion and satisfaction with the design.
We felt that price and personalizationwere well worth it--good experience, we will definitely use them again in the future. -

Ian Sent on 11/22/2010Simply amazing! I did a ton of research on jewelers before deciding on Green Lake. We were able to get something locally designed, locally produced, one of a kind custom designed and engraved with a Canadian conflict free diamond. The engagement ring is incredibly beautiful and my wife gets compliments on it all of the time. For a similar price to what I would have paid for a plain band and diamond at Shane Co, E.E. Robins or the like, we got a one of a kind ring that my wife adores. The service was excellent, I never felt that I was being pushed into anything. Each of the several times I went into the show room they offered me a beverage. The show room is gorgeous and comfortable. The designers and engravers are talented and very helpful.
My one issue was that I told them the date I wanted the engagement ring to be done and they assumed it was a tentative date. My suggestion is that you be very clear that the date you need it is a FIRM date or you flat out tell them you need it a month ahead of when you need it. When you are working with custom jewelry you absolutely have to expect things to take a little longer and understand that if something goes wrong, you want to make sure that you have some flex time. You have to understand that they aren't just pulling your ring off of a shelf like at a chain jeweler. Several people have to contribute to making it and if someone gets too busy or sick, it could be delayed. In my case things worked out, but I had to delay my proposal by a couple weeks.
My wedding band was a Mokume Gane and the local vendor they order these through is awesome too. Once again, these are custom made in a very labor intensive process, so if you want one, give them plenty of time and makes sure the must have date you provide is well before the date you actually need it.
Once you see the finished product, you will know it was worth the wait. As you wear your ring for years to come, you can also rest easy that you won't see that exact ring on anybody else's finger. I'll be honest, I wouldn't think of getting an engagement, wedding or anniversary band anywhere else! -

My now-husband turned out to be surprisingly picky with his wedding band as we were shopping for my engagement ring/wedding band, so I decided to look for custom options for him. While I was very nervous about ordering something so expensive online, it turned out to be the right choice. With just a few of my vague feelings and descriptions of what he'd liked so far, the jeweler we worked with sent a design WITHIN A DAY that was perfect on the first try. Considering it was a lot of detail work in quite thick platinum, I think it was perfectly priced, and it came exactly as promised. I would caution that it took a full 3 months for the ring to make it to us. While they did mention they'd be able to accommodate it if we needed it earlier, the only thing I'd say is maybe don't look for such custom work if you're in a hurry. -

Lia Sent on 07/12/2011We are very happy with the custom designed rings we got from Greenlake. I had a specific mountain skyline engraved on my husband's ring and they were able to do it as an 'engraving' rather than a 'custom' work, which was significantly less expensive. They also will polish my ring and inspect it for mounting fidelity any time I come in, it takes about 10 minutes. Their communication between staff is slightly lacking: They confused my order once with another customer with the same first name. Also they were supposed to phone us for a fitting consult before engraving the groom's ring... but they went ahead and engraved anyway. In the end it fit great and we were happy with it.
