Would definitely recommend!

I had a great experience with this vendor (even during COVID)! They were able to make significant alterations to my dress affordably and within a good time frame! The latch they added to the belt on the back of my dress unfortunately was very weak and broke early on the wedding day - but that is my only complaint!

Perfect Fit and Excellent Service

The thought of leaving my wedding dress in the hands of someone I had never worked with before made me a little nervous, but in meeting Tami and her team at GLWGS, I was immediately put at ease. The seamstress who altered my dress had over 40 years of experience. She took in the bodice, shortened the straps, added bustle hooks, and shortened the length of my dress (which even included removing the scalloped lace trim and reattaching it so that this detailing could be preserved!). GLWGS was very helpful from the appointment reminder emails to teaching my bridesmaid and I how to bustle my dress. Overall, I was extremely happy with how my dress fit and appreciated the excellent service to go with it!

So easy to work with

Tami and her team were very easy to work with. They hemmed, created a beautiful bustle, and pressed my dress. I was so happy with the result! My dressed was stunning and made me feel so amazing on my wedding day.

Very helpful and personalized service!

I took a chance on buying my dress (worn once before) online and when it came stained - though the seller claimed these were not there when she shipped it - I panicked. I researched the best way to take care of such a delicate piece and found Great Lakes Wedding Gown Specialists. I contacted and heard back from Tami very quickly who offered to look at the dress. When I brought it in Tami offered to clean the dress and reassured me that there was hope for my dream dress! When I returned a week later, my dress looked brand new and I loved it even more! I'll be back in a few months for alterations and I am excited to work with Tami's team to make this dress my own! Tami truly cares about her clients, their vision for their special day, and clearly has a passion for what she does. I could not be more thankful for the reassurance and the support!

Speechless - in SUCH a good way!

I never write reviews, but this one deserves it. To say the least my dress experience was horrible with my 1st seamstress. She totally ruined the dress and I called Tammy and asked her just to dry clean it thinking that my only hope was body tape. She ended up Having me meet with the same stress their. It was a short time frame and yet Karen worked endlessly in order to make it as perfect as it could be. They worked in a short time frame saving me from a seamstress gone bad. They literally saved me. Should have just gone there right from the start, but didn't even know they did alterations. They do - start there. Karen literally saved the dress, even adding some hand beading. The dress came back neatly pressed and clean, and done in a time crunch. Thank you ladies.

Perfectly steamed and preserved

The day before my wedding they steamed my horse hair gown and gave great instructions to keep it perfect until I walked down the aisle. They also did a great job with the preservation after the fact as well. They came highly recommended and did not disappoint!

I VERY last minute reached out to see if they could clean my dress (I sold it to another bride living out of state, who’s wedding was the following month and she still needed time for alterations once she received the dress!). I wanted to have the dress cleaned prior to sending, and within 2 days my dress was looking like it did when I FIRST received it prior to my wedding! BRAND NEW. I would recommend them over and over again. Extremely responsive (even via text!)

Mom's wedding dress restyle

My experience with GLWGS was one I will talk about for years to come. I lost my mom 5 years ago and I wanted to honor her by wearing her wedding gown. Her gown just so happen to fit me perfectly but the style was just not me. I wanted to preserve as much of it as I could but I knew I wanted to add my own style to it too. Tami and Sherry were so wonderful to work with. They put my mind at ease throughout the whole process. They were patient with me as I changed my mind many times. They are both so talented at what they do. I would recommend them to everyone, and I already have! I received so many compliments and many people could not believe it was the same dress. Thank you for helping me keep my mom close on my wedding day and giving her gown new life!

Tami provided expert advice as we made a purchase off the rack that needed alterations and attention. She expertly provided advice as to the proper way to take the dress in. She is very knowledgeable about the industry and provided us with advice as to how to feel confident about purchasing a designer gown off the rack instead of special order. She set our minds at ease and went about the business of fitting the gown and making light repairs. It was perfect for the day of my daughter's wedding, and she is now preparing the dress for archiving. Also, Tami provided advice on MOB dresses and the prices overall were very reasonable and well worth it! I would trust her with any gown!

I had a custom Anna Campbell designer dress that I took to her to clean. She is so knowledgable and helped out so much, very flexible too. She works out of a dry cleaners office but don't let that scare you. She did an excellent job at cleaning my gown. I plan on using her again to store my gown for me.

Tami did an incredible job cleaning my daughter's wedding gown. It was stained all over from beer splashing out of glasses on the dance floor. The gown was also torn after being bustled. The repair she did was flawless.

Great Lakes Wedding Gown Specialists did a wonderful job cleaning my daughter's wedding gown. And her gown was a challenge given it was so large at the bottom with several ruffles. They placed the gown in a large box (chest) for preservation along with a momento and white gloves for handling.

The service was equally wonderful given they came to my home to pick up the gown and delivered it back to my home when finished. I would recommend GLWGS to my family and friends.

I used Tami's services from Great Lakes Wedding Gown Specialists to clean and preserve my wedding gown. Our wedding was 7/6/13, but I didn't contact her until November of 2014 (oops! forgot about cleaning my dress!). Tami was immediately responsive by email, AND even came to my house to pick up and drop off my gown! (My home was a 30-45 minute drive for her.) Cleaning and preservation of my gown was exceptional and very professionally done. I would highly recommend her services to anyone!!

I was so happy to get to meet Tami and work with her for my wedding attire! I was looking for someone to help me clean and basically re-image my mother's veil so I could use it for my wedding. My mother's veil was made specially for her by her godmother, so it is a treasured piece. Tami cleaned the veil so that it practically shone with newness even though it is quite old! It looks amazing. She also took it off of my mother's juliet cap and placed it onto a comb so I can wear it easily in my updo. It is stunning, and the price was so reasonable that I almost didn't believe it. If I can hire Tami and the Great Lakes Wedding Gown Specialists again (for this wedding or a relative's wedding), I absolutely will!

September's Bride was so awesome to work with! They really care about the customer's experience and it shows in all that they do. I was lucky and found a silk gown for a steal in their consignment boutique (SB & Beyond) along with a (new) Jennifer Leigh veil. They took care of me every step of the way. Alterations were done fantastically and in a relatively short amount of time. Sherry is seriously a sewing magician. I got my dress for my vow renewal from September's Bride. The staff was kind and patient, even finding me a hair tie so I could see what the dress looked like with my hair up as I was trying them on. And my dress? It was so lovely and beautiful, I only wish I could wear it every day.

Being the father of the bride, and not fully aware of the value a wedding planner adds to the planning process and the actual event, I was a little reluctant to hire a wedding planner.

However, being 9 hours away from the wedding venue and knowing we couldn't stay on top of all the planning and certainly could not "manage" the actual event, we contracted with Rachel at September's Bride in Holland, Michigan.

I cannot praise Rachael and Tiffany highly enough fior all they did. They were absolutely outstanding to work with in every regard and took the entire load of of our shoulders so that we could fully enjoy the moment.

From the earlier in the day set up of the outdoor wedding site to the reception venue and the departing of the bride and groom at the conclusion of the reception, they were on top of every detail.

The best investment you any father of the bride can make is contracting with a professinal wedding planner and September's Bride, with Rachel and Tiffany in particularly, are the best.

September's Bride was awesome to work with. I found my dream dress right away. I was especially impressed my the woman who did alterations - she was beyond fabulous. I am extremely short and while they ordered a petite size the torso was way too long. I couldn't believe how well she fit the dress to me. She also restored my mother's veil so I could wear that with my dress. Awesome experience. I would definitely recommend getting your dress at September's Bride. You will get one on one attention and great customer service.

September's Bride made me feel like a bride. I shopped there a few times to find the right dress, and there was never pressure to buy a dress right that second. My dress was a little bit delayed, but they kept me calm and told me my alterations would get done on time and it would be 100% ready for my wedding day and it was.

We loved September's bride. They were so nice and helpful. We had a couple of minor problems, like ring bearer shoes not fitting. They went out of their way to help and fix the problems. Their calm spirit kept this MOB calm. I really appreciated them.

I traveled several hours to purchase my gown and veil from September's Bride, and it was definitely worth it. The service was excellent and their selection was unique and beautiful. Tami was wonderful. When I arrived for my appointment with a friend, she had bottled water for us and made sure we were really comfortable. She pulled some beautiful dresses and had a couple that I had asked to see. A week later, when we changed venues and my budget was cut in half, she was great then also. She had some beautiful samples on sale, and she helped me find the perfect dress. I was very happy with service, and she made shopping for wedding dress fun.

Additionally, when I found a vintage clutch to carry, she helped me with information on how to clean and care for it.

I LOVED this store. They were so laid back and friendly. They let me take pictures of EVERY dress I tried on so I could show my family in Indiana and they even helped with a few of them! I found no other store that was that customer friendly. In the end, I bought my Casablanca dress from them and was totally thrilled with the entire experience. The dress arrived on time, the alterations were painless and inexpensive, and everything was pressed and ready to go the Thurs. before my wedding. I still need to take my dress back to them to have it cleaned / preserved, but I'm not to the point yet where I don't want to still open up the bag and stare at it. Maybe next week!

Totally laid back bridal salon with a beautiful store and a wonderful selection. They even let me take pictures of all of the dresses I tried on so I could share them with long distance family / friends and to ensure that later I still liked how I looked in the dress. If you have ever been bridal dress shopping, then you know this is very rare and I found their attitude refreshing after several of the stuck up stores I had visited before them.

I loved the employees at September's Bridal! From the very beginning, they were helpful and attentive. They did a great job with the hemming of my dress and any alterations. My dress fit perfectly! I even found a great necklace there, as well, thanks to Rachel! The jewelry selection is beautiful.

This is the place where they treat you like the princess you are. Individualized service that is not rushed or pressuring sales tactics. This is a real bridal salon so expect to find the high end designers but it's so worth it. They also sell/rent tuxs, bridesmaid dresses, mother of the bride dresses, flower girl dresses, custom jewelry, shoes, and custom veils.

Tami and Rachel are so nice and helpful. I bought my dress at a sample sale for $300. They gave me a discount on the bridesmaids dresses and my mother's dress and helped me select a great veil. They were very patient with us as we changed our minds about colors and fabric choices. The shop is just beautiful and I would never go anywhere else.

Tami is an expert preservationist and handled my dress with extreme care! As an archivist, I was impressed with her method of preservation using museum-quality care, with acid free tissue/packaging, and an acid-free museum box. She even includes white cotton gloves so you can enjoy your dress for years to come! Tami also picked up and delivered my dress to me. Thank you, Tami!

When my fiancé and I got engaged, I decided that I wanted to try on dresses so I knew what look looked best on me. We had already started saving for the wedding, but my dress budget was very small ($500). If I would have waited a year or so, I would have gotten a larger budget. Any who, My mother in law and I made an appointment with September's Bride to try on dresses. There was NO sales pressure, and because of my smaller budget, she showed me the best of the best clearance dresses, which I ended up buying! Tami was very accommodating and understood my budget and didn't pressure me into spending more money than I had. I had such a fantastic experience with the boutique, that we are planning on getting the grooms suits there also.

September's Bride did a wonderful job for us. My daughter decided to wear my 1980 wedding gown. It had been carefully preserved but needed remaking. Sherry (alterations) did a fabulous job. The dress was mine initially but she made it look updated with a timeless classic look - it was now my daughters. They also did alterations on my daughter's reception gown and my MOB gown. We are so pleased. We took advantage of September's Bride's Couture service and we're so pleased! I would highly recommend to anyone having a wedding - don't shop anywhere else. Jan

I got my dress, bridesmaid dresses and tuxes through Septermber's Bride. Julie was incredibly helpful when choosing my dress. They were not pushy and let me try on what I wanted. She was also helpful when figuring out the girls dresses. They have a wonderful selection of bridesmaid dresses with tons of colors and fabric choices. The girls dresses were definitely more expensive than if you were to find them somewhere else. However, they took wonderful care of us throughout the entire process. All the dresses were fitted perfectly and pressed before the wedding. Wonderful job!

A wonderful experience. I found the dress I loved on the designers website and then couldn't find it available anywhere to try it on. I called at least four different states worth of bridal stores. They all commented on how beautiful the dress was but they made no other efforts to help. When I called Septembers Bride they told me to come in and try on a similar style and that they could help me order the dress. Each time I went in the ladies there were extremely helpful and knowledgable. They made finding all that I needed easy.

I contacted Tami to clean and preserve my wedding gown. She gives options for receiving dresses if you're not from the Holland area - I appreciated that she comes to Grand Rapids for pick ups and deliveries. My dress had discoloration from the spray tan I had for the wedding and her process returned it to pristine condition. The only thing I would change is having a sealed dress bag rather than one that buttons up with the resale package. Either way, I am confident my dress will be safe whether I sell it or decide to keep it.

The ladies at September's Bride are great to work with and the couture service they provided was excellent! Knowing that someone was their to fix any last minute mishaps was wonderful. Beforehand, a few alterations left my dress fitting like a glove and really gave an added bit of glamour that can only be provided by a great fitting wedding dress. Throughout the day of the wedding I received numerous compliments on my gown and how fitting it was to my personality. Additionally, the accessory lines and flower girl dresses carried by September's Bride are fabulous!

I used Events by September's Bride for "partial" planning. They provided me with names of vendors, recommendations, advice, set up on the day of, and tear down. The team was very responsive and easy to contact. The girls that helped us on the day of the wedding were courteous to our guests, professional and just sweet. I would recommend to ANY bride to fork over a few dollars to not have to deal with the day of set up. It is totally worth it!

I absolutely loved my dress and the service I received from September's Bride! It was a bit inconvenient to have to drive in from almost an hour away so many times for my dress alterations, but I'm glad it ended up fitting as well as it did.
The only part I was a bit disappointed with was the bustle they added to the dress. My dress was ivory, with many layers of tulle for the skirt. The metal hooks they attached to the back of the dress, as well as the loops they sewed into the layers of tulle were white, instead of ivory, meaning they stood out quite a bit more than I would have liked. Other than that minor issue, everything was great!

Horrible service from the moment we walked in the door. The seamstress wanted to take out the low back of my dress instead of tailoring the sides. When we questioned it, we were yelled at and told not to question her sowing experience. The entire alterations would have been $450-$500, and with only one seamstress they were very busy so the dress would be available about a week before the wedding.

Decided to take my gown elsewhere and had an amazing experience at Miller Bridal in Fremont, and saved at least $150! So glad I followed my instincts. You only get one wedding dress! Weddings should be a happy experience.

Messed Up Wedding Gown

My experience with Great Lakes Wedding Gown Specialists has truly been horrific.

They messed up a bridesmaid dress for me this summer, then "fixed it" (Still very tight, and so long I ripped it walking around at the reception)

Worst of all, they messed up my wedding gown itself on 2 occasions, then refused to let me come back into the shop to fix it for a third appointment. Both occasions asking me if I had gained weight, etc, making me feel extremely guilty.

I had to go to another alterations specialist who was shocked that they took my money for such poor craftsmanship. (Big thank you to the other shop for saving my wedding day)

Not once did they apologize for a single mistake.

Ladies, do not give your wedding gown to these women! So heartless that they refused to even let me come back and get the gown fixed.

Waste of money, time, and a lot of emotional drama.

Although I think that the level of service my family recieved from this salon was abysmal at best I will say they are responsive. For isntance when my sister arrived to her final fitting and was presented with a dress that was ill fitting and stained they were quick to defend themselves. Left my sister feeling horrible and frustrated. After a couple more failed attempts to repair the dress my sister had to take it somewhere else to get if fixed. The salon apologized for her experience and agreed to refund her the amount it cost to repair the dress. When it came time to refund my sister the salon retracted their willingness to pay for the repairs. Before and after this salon has been awful to deal with and refuse to take responsibility for their actions.

If anyone reading this thinks that my sister is a diva and may have expresed unreasonable demands should know that my sister is the kindest, most generous person. She dedicates her life to helping under privilaged children. She truely is concerned for other brides who may be lured into this salon, promised a great experience and find themselves in a frustrating situation a week before their wedding like she did. Be sure that you get everything in writing and don't take anything at face value.

Too many mistakes to mention when ordering, altering and cleaning both the bridesmaid dresses and bridal gown. Customer service was very poor and disappointing. Final gown came with a very large black stain, several holes and alterations that cut corners.

Clerks were very rude not helpful. Delivery times were not met. Would never recommend this store.
