    Transcendent

It's impossible to fully describe how incredible Gloriosa & Co. is in words. The venue is absolutely stunning, and Gloria is a fantastic host. We stayed the weekend (Fri-Sun), and Gloria made sure that we were taken care of every moment. She even whisked us away for a private moment after our ceremony and brought us champagne and snacks. The house and the grounds are so charming and filled with unique details - whether it's a flower blooming in the garden or in the nursery, or an antique piece of artwork in the old house, we were so grateful to find such a special setting for celebrating our wedding.

The food at our reception dinner and day-after brunch simply transcended what we thought possible for wedding food. Each dish was incredibly well-made, well-plated, and delicious. Emma and her catering team are extremely talented and ensured that every detail was perfectly executed. We are food snobs with high standards, and every course exceeded our expectations. People will not stop talking about how good the food was (including our pies for dessert!).

Everything was perfect. My wife teared up as she hugged Gloria good-bye on our last day! We did not want to say good-bye to this magical place. If you are looking for a beautiful venue that will give you the barn wedding of your dreams, know that you will be in fantastic hands at Gloriosa & Co.

Gloriosa & Co at the Curtis House's reply:

Oh my goodness, thank you so much, it was a joy having you all here. I cried as well. Please keep in touch, come back to visit at Fall Festival, you are always welcome.
    Love Glo

    Beautiful location, perfect food!

We knew that we were going to have our reception at Gloriosa and co after a family birthday party in the main house. The barn is gorgeous! All the details of the place settings were perfection. The food was described as “the best wedding food I’ve ever had” by a ton of our guests (and we agree!!). Emma uses local, seasonal ingredients to make absolutely delicious food. The garden and lawn are perfect for photos. We had the best time and cannot recommended Gloria and her team enough!!!

    Warm, welcoming and charming

Every inch of this property is thoughtfully designed and delightful, around every corner there is another sweet detail. We had an 80 person wedding the barn was just the right size to allow for a family style meal, dancing and even a lounge area indoors. Cocktail hour was in the gardens and on the stone patio, and our ceremony took place in front of the dahlia field overlook the town steeple. All our gusts were blown away with how lovely everything was.

Gloria, Emma and the rest of their team at the Curtis House made our day so special. Thank you so much!

The best experience in every way

We can’t express how much love and appreciation we have for Gloria and everything she helped us with throughout the wedding process. With Gloria, Emma, and the rest of the team, you can immediately tell that your wedding is (almost) just as special to them as it is for you. Every detail contributed to the experience feeling like we were a part of our own wedding planning family to make the wedding perfect.
The venue is beautiful, from the rustic barn, to fall foliage, stone walls, the glass greenhouse, the house itself, all the way down to the mismatched vintage tableware and reclaimed chairs and furniture for the reception. Emma crafted a delicious menu, incorporating influences from our cultural backgrounds growing up to give the food a special touch. We had Gloria do all of the flowers, and she even saved a disaster of a wedding cake with an elegant arrangement of edible flowers at the last minute. Every detail, we trusted that Gloria and the team would make it as special and perfect as possible, and we could not be happier with how everything turned out.
We had originally scheduled our wedding before the pandemic, but Gloria worked with us through all the uncertainty to postpone a full year. What could have been a stressful wrench in our plans, and certainly were hard times for her venue, ended up being just another example of why we are so happy to have chosen these people and this venue for our wedding.
At the end of the day, we left our wedding feeling like we had a special, lasting connection to Gloria and everyone who helped make our wedding so great, which makes it even more special for us now.

Gloriosa & Co at the Curtis House's reply:

Dora, thank you so much for your kind words! You and Sam are both delightful humans, and remained so practical and flexible through the challenges of pandemic postponements, UMass parents' weekend, and me making baklava for the first time! We hope you're both well, and please don't hesitate to let us know if you are back in our area, we'd love to see you. Best, Emma and Glo

    Simply the Best

We cannot recommend Gloriosa enough as a venue. The grounds are beautiful, the food was described by nearly all of our guests as the finest they had ever been served at a wedding, and Gloria's hand-crafted floral arrangements must be seen to be believed. But by far the best thing about Gloriosa is the staff! They are consummate professionals: experienced, efficient and pragmatic. More than this, they are also extraordinary human beings: deeply creative, thoughtful, considerate and kind.

And trust us when we say that if you're currently planning or even might someday be planning a wedding: you cannot put a price on such exquisite service! Because of the COVID-19 pandemic we had to postpone our wedding twice in three years. Yet throughout the whole awful ordeal Gloria, Emma and the rest of the Gloriosa staff never failed to turn up in support of our plans and wishes, shepherding us through all the stress and uncertainty with a level of care and grace most people rarely encounter outside their own families. We were and are to this day deeply grateful for the privilege of hosting our wedding at Gloriosa, and if you or someone you care about is searching for a venue guaranteed to make the kind of beautiful, lifelong memories it gave our family: look no further!

Gloriosa & Co at the Curtis House's reply:

Oh my Dylan, what gifts you both are!
    Thank you sweet ones.
    Keep in touch please.
    Love Glo and Emma

    Absolutely Perfect

However many characters this review is limited to, it is surely not enough to convey how happy we were to have chosen Gloriosa for our wedding venue, how much fun we and our guests had on our wedding day, and how much we loved working with Gloria and her staff. While I do not have another venue to compare it to, having fortunately been married just the one time, I can say no other venue I have been to gives such an authentic, welcoming, and organic setting. It's not just the place - it's the people. A prime example of Gloria's kindheartedness came several months after our wedding when I bumped into her at the grocery store. Not only was I greeted with a loving hug, but she remembered my name, my wife's name, and our infant son's name. We were already Gloria's number one fans, but that put her into legend status. If you are reading these reviews, you may have already met Gloria and wondered, "Is she for real or is she just a good salesperson?" Rest assured she is the real deal, she works her butt off to make your event special, she has incredible attention to detail, she can make a delicious meal, and she somehow does all of this while keeping the bride and groom at ease - even through a global pandemic. If you're still on the fence, well then you need to meet her Great Dane - Clark.

One final thought: on our wedding day as the important moments came and went, Gloria pulled us aside shortly after the vows. She handed each of us a glass of champagne and ushered us to a small sunroom on the back of the house away from the crowd. This 20 minute window with just the two of us enjoying a quiet moment alone was an unexpected treat, and one of our favorite moments of the whole day. It's just one of the many ways that Gloria made our special day even more special.

Gloriosa & Co at the Curtis House's reply:

Tyler and Meg, thank you so much for all of this! You were an absolute joy to work with, remaining calm and flexible in spite of so many changes and unexpected events during the pandemic. Please don't hesitate to stop by and see us next time you're up this way (could 2023 be Terry's first fall festival?!), we'd love to catch up. Love, Glo and Emma
P.S. There are now two Great Danes!

Intimate and customized to make our dreams come true!

From the first visit to The Curtis House we knew that Gloria and her team would be able to help make our wedding dreams come true. They worked with us to develop a menu that incorporated my Colombian heritage and ensured that everything ran smoothly the day of. During pictures Gloria even came by with a plate of snacks to make sure we didn't get hungry! That is just a small example of the personalized touches that the team at the Curtis House do to make your day special.

From start to finish Gloria and her team were so helpful every step of the way. Gloria's goal is for couples to have a wedding that fits their vision and she certainly delivers.

The venue is nestled in the charming town of Ashfield and with it you get the Curtis House, the Barn and the amazing grounds complete with a scenic backdrop and beautiful gardens. The look is a rustic chic. The Curtis house is furnished with antiques with really neat trinkets all throughout the place. We chose the option to stay in the Curtis house Friday and Saturday night. That made everything so easy and relaxed. Gloria is so great making sure you are comfortable and have everything you need. She also makes an excellent scone for breakfast!

Gloria's team nailed all of the finer details. Beverly did our flowers and came very close to the photographs I showed her on Pinterest. I only say very close because Beverly's were better. The day of our wedding, it rained all afternoon. We planned to have our ceremony outside but had the backup plan of doing it in the barn. We made a last minute decision to do it outside because the rain cleared up. Gloria's team was very accomodating to this.

During the reception we had a 5 piece band play in the barn. This worked out great, when the doors are open the sound was perfect and we fit about 120 people in just fine. We had the dinner outside under a tent. The set up was beautiful with all of Gloria's antique chairs and rustic wood tables. Gloria's staff was great with the cleanup, I barely noticed they were there but somehow they managed to keep up with our rowdy bunch.

We are so happy with how our wedding day turned out! It was so unique and special to us as a couple and we will cherish the day forever.

Dan and I couldn't have asked for a better place to host our wedding. From the first contact to the final goodbyes at the end of our big day, Gloria and her team were with us all the way. They did absolutely everything right and made us feel at ease, welcome and they made our wedding a HUGE success. The comments from our guests spoke volumes to just how well Gloria and her team did for us. Dan and I were looking for a simple, early fall themed wedding in a relaxed and family style atmosphere that would allow us to have an intimate day with our closest friends and family. Dan and I live in Northern Virginia, so we had to plan and prepare for our wedding almost completely remotely. The Curtis House is a simply stunning and charming location in Ashfield, MA. We decided to get married in the apple orchard adjacent to the gardens and town church outside. This turned out to be perfect! Gloria and her team provided everything we needed in a single, easy to understand package. Gloria and her team provided the venue, food, flowers, cakes, and all of the tables, chairs, china, linens, etc. It was truly a one stop shop. We decided that we wanted a family style post wedding reception and meal in their newly renovated barn, and we couldn't have been happier with how that turned out. We chose some food from Gloria's options, and also provided family recipes for a few key dishes, each of which turned out great! And our cakes... holy smokes. They were straight out of a Better Homes and Gardens photo shoot and tasted amazing! Our guests commented that the food was the best they had ever had at a wedding and many asked for recipes. We brought in our own musician (Ellis Paul) and he loved the venue and setup. Gloria and her team made us feel like family and we would highly recommend the Curtis House and her team to anyone. You simply cannot beat the value for the price here anywhere in Western, MA.

If you need help from the ground floor and up, you want to hire Gloriosa & Co. Gloria handled ALL details, managed, and took charge of virtually all wedding needs. She was asked to do details that varied from her norm, and adjusted to provide the requests beautifully. Her food is not only delicious, but fresh and presented pleasing to the eye. Her attention to detail is to be admired. I don't know what I would have done with Gloriosa & Co., and the person who makes it what it is. She and her staff have it all.

Gloriosa & Co at the Curtis House's reply:

Thank you for your kind words, Karen. I was so happy and honored to be a part of your daughter's big day! I hope you and your whole family are well. Thanks again.

Gloria helped in so many ways to make our intimate backyard wedding beautiful, delicious and seamless. She (and her team) catered everything, provided gorgeous flowers, helped us decorate, lent us beautiful antique china, glassware, silverware, vases and candleholders, and - perhaps most importantly - pulled it all together with aplomb. On the day of the wedding she coordinated her staff as well as other vendors and helping hands, and made sure that everything flowed easily and naturally. I really had no stress about anything that she was in charge of! Which was a great gift on such a hectic and eventful day.

The results were fantastic: the food was delicious, beautiful, and plentiful, the flowers were lush, and the entire wedding was suffused with her lovely aesthetic. We chose to serve dinner family style, so it was an elegant feast with much sharing and passing of bright, seasonal dishes presented on Gloria's antique platters. So many people remarked about the food that I lost count. The photos only hint at how special it felt!

The best thing about Gloria is how dedicated she is to bringing your vision to life. Most caterers handle so many weddings that you are just one of a long list of clients, and customization is limited to adjusting menu items. Gloria is a fount of creativity, and really wants to know how you'd like your day to feel, look and taste...and then draws on her many talents to make that vision a reality. She is willing to handle as much or as little as you'd like her to (she does catering, flowers, decoration, coordination, and also owns a lovely venue), and engages with you in the process of figuring out details and decisions. I met with her a couple of times at her house, even walking through her garden to look at flowers and picking out vases from her extensive collection. All in all, she brought an incredible vision to our day and executed it really well. Would recommend her highly!

We held our wedding reception at The Curtis House, as well as housing several of our guests there and hiring Gloria to be our "day-of" coordinator. (We also rented her beautiful antique china and silverware for our place settings.)

Gloria helped us figure out the basics like our tent and port-a-potty rentals and she had a brand-new electrical system ready for our 5-piece band. She was around the day before the wedding as we were setting up with anything and everything we needed: sledge hammer, duct tape, extension cords, you name it.

It seemed she was everywhere during the reception, too…making sure our caterers were on point, lighting candles, even making sure everyone had water. She made it easy for me to relax while she took care of all the little details. And, when my dress zipper broke 5 minutes before the wedding (!!!), Gloria was there within minutes with a needle and thread, sewing me in. Seriously, I don't know what we would've done without her.

The Curtis House itself is absolutely gorgeous! The rooms, furniture and decor are all tasteful and elegant with just the right amount of uniqueness. Our guests loved staying there and said Gloria was a wonderful hostess and cook. The grounds are incredible…the old barn, the apple orchard, the views over Main Street… It made our wedding night so magical.

I really can't say enough good things about Gloria and The Curtis House!

Gloria was a godsend. Wedding planning was sped up for me due to an unexpected illness in the family, and I felt like I was in over my head, but Gloria helped immensely. She did all of the floral arrangements for our wedding, which ended up being all the candles, 26 large wreaths, 3 garlands, 14 low table arrangements, one large hanging flower backdrop, my bridal headpiece, and wrist corsages and boutonnieres for all of our family members.

I was able to have an initial meeting with Gloria at her beautiful home and knew right away that I loved her aesthetic. She asked me questions about my vision for the wedding, and I showed her a few photos I had collected. I had nothing thematic planned—no colors, no table plans, and at the point I first met her I may not have even had a venue yet! She did not chastise me for this, but instead was very understanding and enthusiastic about the few ideas I had, and reassured me that she would make things happen within my budget (which she did).

From there, I let her do her thing, and I’m so glad I did. The results were outstanding! I could not have imagined more beautiful floral arrangements. She listened to what I wanted, and took it to the next level. All of the arrangements were very well made, and had a sort of classic-bohemian vibe. Her work warmed up the room on a chilly winter day, and made things feel festive and elegant. I especially loved that each element was unique, yet everything was cohesive overall. The hanging flower backdrop in particular was stunning. Gloria figured out all the details, and built it from scratch. My cousin actually imitated it at her own wedding the following year!

I highly recommend Gloria for her floral arrangements. She was professional and reassuring throughout the planning process, and day-of. I am so grateful to her for her exceptional work and supportive demeanor.

I cannot even begin to describe how wonderful Gloria and her crew are. We had both our ceremony and reception at the Curtis House. There are many beautiful options to choose from on the property. The inside of the house is gorgeous and would be perfect for a small wedding. For a larger wedding, the grounds have many beautiful areas. There is an apple orchard, beds of perennials, a wooded area, and a large open grassy area. We had our ceremony on the edge of the woods. The photos of the ceremony with the soaring trees in the background are breathtaking. We had the reception in a tent close to the house. Gloria has an amazing collection of vintage plates and silverware. That coupled with the beautiful linens and flower arrangements gave me exactly the look I was after – simple but elegant. The woman who did the flowers was a true artist and designed beautiful arrangements everywhere – not just on the tables, but on all the serving areas, throughout the grounds and house, even in the bathroom. The menu we were given to choose from was varied with many top-notch choices. The food was all cooked and served to perfection. When it began to get dark there were hundreds of candles on the porch and throughout the trees and grounds – it was absolutely beautiful. Gloria took care of every detail – there was no request she could not handle. She is a delight to deal with – calm, reassuring, one of those people who can keep 5 balls in the air at the same time and make it look easy. Our wedding was in August, but as night fell there was a slight chill in the air. Gloria came out with one of the most beautiful shawls I have ever seen for me to wear. I found out later it had belonged to her mother. For her to loan me what has to be one of her most cherished possessions – that sums up Gloria in a nutshell – thoughtful, kind and giving. There are so many choices these days for where to book a wedding – trust me, the best decision you could make is to have yours at the Curtis House.

From start to finish, Gloria and her wonderful staff made our wedding the event of a lifetime. Not only is she fun to work with and be around, she can be as involved or as hands-off as you like.
The grounds are absolutely stunning, with a really comfortable, approachable feeling- sophisticated and immaculate but still like home and casual enough to be able to fully relax. The gardens are planted with care, the trees and lawn the epitome of rustic beauty. The house itself is a true beauty.
We had our bridesmaids brunch catered at the venue the day before our wedding, and not only did we each feel like royalty, we spent hours giggling and sipping sparkling drinks from elegant flues and generally spoiling ourselves rotten, all while being taken care of by Gloria and her staff.
We requested her help with our flower arrangements, which trend out even more beautifully than I could have imagined- and under budget too!! She hooked us up with a wonderful photographer and
She was able to work around several hectic events the day of, and was gracious and accommodating to several unplanned changes!

I really can't recommend this experience enough- if you want to to have a wedding to remember, something to show off and remember fondly for the rest of your life- trust your wedding to Gloria.

We couldn't have been happier with Gloria and her crew! Our reception was at a historic manor on a large veranda. She catered it, did the flower arrangements, some decor, and the cake.

I originally met Gloria when I went to view the Curtis House as a possible venue. It is spectacularly beautiful, but we had too many people to fit inside, and had decided against a tent. However, I was so impressed with Gloria and her taste, that I asked if she would be willing to work with us at another venue. Luckily she said yes!

Right from the beginning, she really honed in on the vision that I had and the aesthetic that I was going for. I wanted a classic, vintage feel without overdoing it and having it be a "theme."

We used her beautiful collection of vintage china and we designed an elaborate high tea menu that everyone raved about. As most brides, I was pretty neurotic, but in my case down to the sugar cubes! She was always graceful and reassuring and really fun to work with.

Her pricing is excellent for the quality she delivers. Everything was fresh and lush and her attention to detail is apparent in everything she touches (our European guests were very impressed with fresh gooseberries and currants which they can't usually find).

I only gave her a little lower on responsiveness because early in the process I felt that she could have responded to some of my calls faster than she did, but that was not the case once we were in full swing.

She truly has an artist's eye and spectacular taste so I highly recommend her to people who want something that is artfully done and more interesting than usual.
