  Incredible quality and craft

  GJ was recommended to me by the bridal shop that I bought my dress from (The Sentimentalist) and I can absolutely see why they are so trusted! They were super up front about pricing and how long the alterations would take. They were incredibly knowledgeable and professional and did a beautiful job with my dress. Also, one of the vendors at my wedding who helped bustle my dress said that this was one of the easiest bustles they’ve ever had to do- GJ color-coded everything and numbered which ties went together, which made bustling SO easy! They were fantastic :)

  Highly Recommend!!

  I can't say enough good things about this place! I felt so special and everyone there made me feel like I was their top priority. I loved how personal and intimate this experience was. My dress needed to be practically made all over again due to weight loss and they made my dress fit like a glove!! Even with a global pandemic, they made sure I had my dress for the wedding day! The shop was clean and the staff made me feel extremely safe. Beyond thankful and grateful for their expertise.

  Quality & craft

  Gizelle and her team totally transformed my wedding dress. I already thought it fit pretty well and looked good - but they made it look unreal. The before and after made me look like a different person because of how flattering it was after tailoring. On top of all that, I just enjoyed working with Gizelle. She’s a true professional and just the coolest. It was great knowing that I could totally trust her and Nancy with my dress from start to finish.

  Gizzelle and her team were incredible to work with and I would HIGHLY recommend their services. They are true experts and will help you achieve a flawless fit- my wedding dress fit perfectly and I felt so beautiful in the finished product. Their services are definitely pricier, but I truly felt I got what I paid for. Gizzelle and her team were also so lovely- scheduling was seamless and Gizzelle really took her time with each appointment to ensure perfection in all alterations.   Made my already perfect dress even more perfect!

  Gizelle and team did an amazing job making my dress feel like it was made for me. I fell more and more in love with my dress after each appointment. The team was easy to work with and were so helpful in ensuring I would feel my best on my big day!

  I cannot express how amazing Gizzelle and her team are at what they do! Their alterations made my wedding dress look exquisite on me. Gizzelle has an eye for all the changes needed to flatter your best features, and made excellent suggestions that transformed my dress into something customized and perfect for my shape. Gizzelle also has such a wonderful personality---she listens well and made my wedding alterations experience such a pleasurable one! I will definitely be coming to her for all future alteration needs!

  Perfection in fit and customer service

  Gizzelle altered my wedding dress and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. She was an absolute perfectionist and my dress fit me like a glove. I felt SO glamorous in it. She made sure I was 1000% happy with everything before we were done and she was delightful to work with. During my appointments, I got to watch her work with tons of other clients on various wardrobe pieces and I was so impressed with what she can do. I highly recommend her!

  Best seamstress in Atlanta

  I have used several tailoring businesses in Atlanta, and I'm so glad I was referred to Gizelle for my wedding and bridesmaid dresses. Gizzelle and her staff are detail oriented, meticulous, and super friendly. I had one bridesmaid whose dress came in totally wrong. We didn't have time to return and get a new one. Gizzelle worked magic, and my bridesmaid looked incredible. Plus, they have an adorable pup in the shop!

  Life Savers!

  Gizzelle and her crew worked miracles on my wedding dress and it fit flawlessly by the time they were done! The dress required taking in at some places and letting out at others - they handled the whole thing perfectly and even caught some small details that I never would have noticed. I felt like a million bucks in my dress thanks to these ladies!! Best in town.

  The best in town

  I took one dress here after my salon suggested it. They did such a great job I ended up bringing two other dresses to them, one that had to be fixed at the last minute that another place did a bad job with. They do EXCELLENT work, they really know what they are doing, and I am their customer for life. They also did my groom's suit and did a perfect job. They are extremely skilled. I am so thankful I found them. Brst in the business. No question.

  Gizelle and her team were absolutely amazing! They altered my lace wedding gown perfectly - down to adding bits lace back on during my very last appointment to cover a couple of spots that I was worried about. They also took my mother's hand-sewn cathedral length veil from 35 years ago and created a shorter veil for me and added my grandmother's 60 year old lace covered buttons to my dress. We were so impressed with all the work they did and it was totally worth the price!

  Gizzelle and her team are AMAZING. I had a really bad interaction with the alterations team at Bridals by Lori, so I came to Gizzelle and it was like a complete 180. They are so polite, accommodating, and passionate. I live in Washington DC, but my wedding was in Atlanta. They don't normally do second fittings on the weekend, but because I had to travel down for it, they arranged that for me. My dress had a ton of beadwork on the top, and they were in floral patterns. You couldn't even tell they they took the dress in or changed the patterns in any way. They did way more to the dress that I thought we could do for how much we were paying. It turned out perfect and I couldn't be happier!

  This is a wonderful little alterations shop in Midtown in Atlanta! Gizzelle is such a sweet lady and her staff is amazing!!! I was a little worried about getting my dress altered since it was hand made and made specifically to my body's specifications, but they took such care with my dress! I only needed a little taken in and a little length taken off, but they managed to make my dress even more perfect than it was! The price wasn't bad either! They do alterations on anything, but they are amazing and I would recommend them to anyone!

  I went to Gizzelle to alter my wedding dress. She and her team did an incredible job!!! I bought a sample gown off the rack and promptly lost quite a bit of weight. They were able to take the dress in so that it fit me perfectly! I brought the dress in late January and they had it perfectly finished by my April 9th wedding.   After picking up my wedding gown after my final fitting, I was blown away by what an amazing job the Gizzelle James team did! My dress is an Allure 2801, which I'd ordered from the manufacturer with a fabric change on the skirt to remove the satin and replace with tulle. When my dress originally came in, I was disappointed with how "tacked on" the skirt material was, as it didn't flow as one continuous dress, and instead looked like two separate pieces. After reading reviews on wedding dress alterations, I know that Gizzelle James was the only place I'd trust my gown to. They did a total overhaul on the skirt, and eased my concerns about not being able to find a bra that would work with the low plunging neckline by sewing a bra into the bodice itself. They were always extremely friendly and willing to accommodate. I'm in love with the finished product, it's finally the dress I had imagined. It looked amazing on our wedding day!

  Giselle is a Tailoring Goddess

  I can't say enough about how Giselle worked with me to customize my wedding gown and my bridal jumpsuit. We created a completely custom illusion bodice with sleeves and delicate appliques. She has an impeccable eye and a great team. Between COVID delaying my wedding and the custom work I had done, I must have had 7 or 8 fittings. You are gonna be in great hands here.

  Excellent wedding dress tailor

  I am new to Atlanta, and I wanted to be sure I had my wedding dress altered somewhere where I would not have to stress. I chose Gizzelle James based on their reviews, and they lived up to the quality reflected in their reviews. My wedding dress was a smooth crepe material with a mostly form fitting, boat neck silhouette. Needless to say, you could tell if the dress was misfitted and there was no covering up errors. I went through 3.5 fittings (the third fitting they did a couple of last minute alterations). I was feeling a little anxious towards the last fitting, but the team at Gizzelle's was great in helping me to feel at ease. In the end, my dress fit perfectly and looked gorgeous on our wedding day. My only criticism is that it was a bit pricier than I would have liked, although I think the quality and convenience of location was worth it for me.

  I took my dress to a regular alterations person first because my dad wanted to save money, but I was told because of the lace that she couldn't fix the darting or make it fit properly. I was devastated, and the regular person was going to charge almost as much as a couturiere. When I brought my dress to Gizelle, she was like, of course we will fix the darting, and not only will we fix it, we will make it specific to each side of your body and adjust the back to make your scoliosis less prominent. Needless to say, I was blown away. They did an absolutely fantastic job and I felt so beautiful.

  Expensive and Stressful

  Gizzelle James was recommended by the bridal shop where we purchased my daughter's wedding gown. Before our first appointment, I sent Gizzelle pictures of my daughter in her gown and was quoted a range of $500 - $800 for alterations. Her reviews were wonderful, so I thought we would be in good hands. Several reviews mentioned how special the brides were made to feel. That was not our experience. On our first visit, after waiting an hour past our appointment time which was the case for every visit, the dress was pinned by one of Gizzelle's seamstresses. It was difficult to communicate with her due to a language barrier. At the end of the appointment, we were told alterations would be $1300. I should have followed my gut and found another seamstress but after being told how booked everyone was due to 2022 being such a busy wedding year, I was afraid we would not find anyone else in time. We had 4 more appointments over the course of 3 1/2 months and each one was stressful because whenever we tried to give feedback about something needed on the dress, we were cut off and told 'Don't worry about it'. At one point, midway through the process, Gizzelle lost her temper and told me off. I had already paid for half of the alterations and she had the dress so I felt like I needed to just keep my cool and get the dress done. The most stressful part was when we went to what was supposed to be our last appointment 10 days before the wedding, the dress was not ready. We had to come back 3 days before the wedding to get the dress not knowing if it would be done in time. In the end, the dress looked beautiful on my daughter but I would not recommend Gizzelle due to the cost of the alterations, her rude demeanor and the stressful alterations experience.

  Gizzelle James was recommended by the bridal shop where we purchased my daughter's wedding gown. Before our first appointment, I sent Gizzelle pictures of my daughter in her gown and was quoted a range of $500 - $800 for alterations. Her reviews were wonderful, so I thought we would be in good hands. Several reviews mentioned how special the brides were made to feel. That was not our experience. On our first visit, after waiting an hour past our appointment time which was the case for every visit, the dress was pinned by one of Gizzelle's seamstresses. It was difficult to communicate with her due to a language barrier. At the end of the appointment, we were told alterations would be $1300.   Wedding planning can be quite a stressful experience, and I hate to say that Gizzelle Jame only added to my stress. I decided to wear my Grandmother's 1950's style dress for my beach wedding and came in knowing it would be a challenging job but would be worth it. I spoke to numerous friends and looked up countless shops and ended us coming here based on the marvelous reviews. I brought my dress into the shop late January, which should have been plenty of time because my wedding was on April 29. When I explained what I would like to have done, they seemed to share and understand my vision for the dress. The overall process went fairly smoothly until the week before my wedding. I went in for a final fitting and the didn't have my dress ready. The lace new lace wasn't even pinned onto the bottom portion of the dress nor was the belt sewn on as I had previously asked. They promised they would have it done by my pick up date (April 26 as I was driving down to Savannah the very next morning). When I arrived to pick up my dress, it still was not ready! The lace was poorly tacked on, the belt was not attached, and they decided to change the lace for the bottom at the very last minute, the day I was to take it home. My sister-in-law and I were at the studio for 2 hours while they tried to cut and sew on the lace which was unacceptable! She ended up having to come back and pick it up the next day without me. No bride should have to leave for her wedding without her dress. When she came to pick it up, they still had not finished sewing the lace onto the dress. She sat on the floor with the seamstress to finish it and once again was their for close to two hours. Diana, one of the seamstresses, kept apologizing, which i appreciated, but Gizzelle did not apologize once for the inconvenience or lack of professionalism. I, for one, will never be back nor will I let any of my friends go to her studio. Brides, time management is important!
