Misty did an amazing job with our wedding cake! Not only was it absolutely beautiful, it was so delicious that guests walked up to us during the wedding raving about the cake. Some were asking to take some home :). I truly loved our wedding cake and it was definitely a special touch to our day. Misty is incredibly professional and talented. We loved working with Girl Meets Cake! Misty made us a dozen cupcakes so we could try multiple flavors before we decided on our final three. Beyond accommodating vendor & delicious cake!
Misty was suggested to me by my planner Katie of Tilly & Teal. I’m so happy she was! We first connected via zoom to talk about my husband & I’s favorite flavors for our future wedding cake & I just LOVED Misty. She was so sweet. She made us the most gorgeous cake complimented by tiny marzipan mushrooms (mushroom foraging is one of our favorite things to do together). We picked her “lemon lovers” flavor which is a lemon cake with raspberry filling & vanilla buttercream. It was the best cake I’ve ever eaten in my life. On top of Misty’s amazing baking & decorating work, I found a pig cake topper on etsy & it tied everything together so well! Our pet pigs couldn’t attend the wedding so this was the best we could do 😂 We love you Misty! Our guests had nothing but great things to say about them! Not only did everything look beautiful it tasted amazing! She even was able to pull off personalized husky cookies to make it extra special as our two dogs were a part of our big day! My Dream Cake

Misty at Girl Meets Cake was phenomenal! We did a pickup tasting during the pandemic and we loved what Misty put together for us. We decided to go with cupcakes for our wedding so everyone could pick their favorite flavor! She had some awesome flavor combinations with the cake, icings and fillings. You could seriously get whatever your heart desired! Misty was super professional, responsive and flexible. There was a little hiccup with the payment (as I sent it to the wrong address), but Misty still held our date and was reassuring during the entire process! She was so easy to work with! Everyone loved the cupcakes! My only suggestion would be to ask her if she could supply some sort of cardboard or plastic container for extras the day of. Our caterer didn't have any extra containers and Misty didn't provide any, so the leftover cupcakes had to be tossed. Super super sad about that since the groom and I didn't get to have one at the reception. Misty also did the cupcakes for my bridal shower, so I know they are delicious. I would recommend her and certainly buy cupcakes or a cake from her again in the future!

Misty was an incredible vendor to work with for our wedding. The cake was gorgeous and so many people came up to me and said how great it tasted. One guest said, “I’ve never been to wedding where the cake was actually delicious.” The tasting was professional and we got to try so many different flavors. We received all of our documents on time and she got back to us within a day or so. She was accessible and punctual on the day of the wedding. 15/10 would recommend her to anyone.

Misty at Girl Meets Cake saved the day when I called her just 11 days before my wedding needing a new wedding cake since my other vendor fell through. We spoke on the phone and within a few minutes we had a plan for her to make my wedding cake. She was so helpful and delivered the most gorgeous cake - it was exactly as I had dreamed it would be. We loved working with Misty! She did a custom flavor for us - cardamom-orange with amaretto buttercream and a cherry filling. The cake was four-tiered and elegant. It was our only dessert (we ordered extra sheet cakes to feed all 300 guests). We loved it, felt great about the value, and enjoyed the process.

I called around 20 cake places and Misty was by far the most responsive, enthusiastic, but most importantly - the cake was absolutely delicious! We had cake enough for 125 people and only 110 guests, and ALL of the cake was gone by the end of the wedding. The value of her cake is also the best you will find. She is fair with her prices (actually she's generous haha), cake tasting is so easy and great, and her flavor options are awesome. We had a vanilla cake for one tier, chocolate for tier 2 and 3, buttercream frosting, raspberry puree, and a buttercream outer frosting. All of our guests specifically came up to me to say how much they enjoyed the cake. 10000000% recommend. You will not be disappointed.

First off, I want to say that Misty is super sweet and was so accommodating to what we wanted! My then fiance and I were super surprised by how much wedding cakes cost when we first started doing research for our budget. It was shocking and we really didn't know if we could afford a cake. So we then decided to stick with only cupcakes because they were less expensive. I joined a wedding Facebook group for my area and I kept seeing Girl Meets Cake pop up as a recommendation. I went on her website and reached out to her telling her my vision of a cake and cupcake combination for our wedding that was within our budget. She set up a meeting with us and her presentation was very professional, we were really impressed with the set up. Not to mention we got to taste 5 different flavors of very yummy cake with leftovers to take home! What she charges is very affordable and the designs of the cakes/cupcakes are beautiful. Our guests loved all the flavors so much that they went back for seconds. Not only did we end up with deliciously decorated cupcakes on our wedding day, we were able to have a 2 layer octagon cake with a separate anniversary tier to take home! Everything turned out fantastic and I would definitely book with her again!

Misty was referred to me by a friend and I am so glad that we found her. She is so talented!!! I was in a rushed situation and needed a cake for a retirement party. Misty only had a few days notice and she was as calm as could be. Unlike me who was going to lose it... Very, very easy to work and make the time schedule work. I was able to give her our Party theme and the colors and she immediately sent me some photo ideas. Misty knew exactly what we were needing. It was overwhelming for me to pick flavors so she did it and WOW....If you don't know what goes well together, let her pick them for you! It was the best cake that I really have ever had. It was moist, the frosting was so good and the attention to detail was amazing. She did a Double Chocolate Cake with Caramel Filling and Cream Cheese Frosting. It was wonderful. I would recommend Girl Meets Cake for any event. Her cake was the centerpiece of our table and it was just so pretty. Her prices are so reasonable and you get so much for your dollar. OMG is it amazing cake. Girl Meets Cake owner Misty made the entire process just perfect. My fiancé went into the tasting wanting only plain white cake and we walked away with something much different and just beautiful. We are not frosting people so we ordered a naked cake covered in fruit. We did two tiers of classic vanilla cake and one of double chocolate. Chocolate buttercream on the chocolate layer with a raspberry filling and cream cheese frosting on the vanilla cake – one strawberry filling and one blackberry filling. I honestly wish on the wedding day I had eaten more cake. It was just fantastic cake. Guests could not stop telling us how great the cake looked and tasted. I cannot wait for the need to purchase another cake from Girl Meets Cake – do we need to wait for our anniversary?

I am so glad we found the extremely talented Misty to make our wedding cake! She was very easy to work with and understood our vision to create the most beautiful 3-tiered semi-naked cake for us. It was also incredibly delicious! The bottom and top tiers were Lemon cake with Raspberry filling and Vanilla Buttercream, and the middle tier was Classic Vanilla cake with Strawberry filling and Lemon Buttercream - YUM! Previously to meeting Misty I was told by a cake vendor that they would NOT do something that I wanted for my cake. An exceptional, local cake artist. Very affordable, especially considering the prices we saw going around Northern Virginia. The tasting was easily the best part (of course), and she was beyond willing to work with our budget to get as close to what we were looking for with plenty of options. In our case, she exceeded every expectation. The end product was gorgeous (and delicious!), and the guests could not stop raving about it. You will not be disappointed! I have used Girl Meets Cake multiple times for cakes (not wedding, but birthdays and graduation) over the years. With each cake, she continues to amaze me with her remarkable designs, and the cakes are absolutely delicious ... moist and decadent. The most recent cake was for my mother's 80th birthday. Our theme was hummingbirds. Misty loves the challenge of trying something new. She sent me sample pics and she worked with me to make sure she was incorporating everything I wanted into the cake. The end result was truly magnificent. The cake was gorgeous; all our guests raved over not only how beautiful it was, but how delicious it was. At each party I have, I always end up recommending Girl Meets Cake to our guests.

Misty is great! She is professional and friendly. She made picking a cake very easy! We did a combination of 3 tier cake with each layer a different flavor and cupcakes for kids. Prices are affordable! Very happy and everything went smoothly I arrived at the venue and the cake was nicely displayed. I did not have to worry about a thing!

I'd highly recommend Girl Meets Cake to anyone looking for a wedding cake in the DC area. Our wedding cake phenomenal - it was absolutely gorgeous - everyone at our wedding kept commenting on how beautiful it was - and it was delicious as well. Misty is so easy to work with, she has a great eye for design, and our cake was quite affordable. We'll be going back to her for any other cake needs as well. :)

Misty is so wonderful to work with! She made our wedding cake and cupcakes. Everything was amazingly delicious, and the cake was gorgeous! Her prices are so much lower than just about every other cake vendor in the DC area, even with her delivery costs. She does not charge more to have each tier of cake be a different flavor, and she is willing to go beyond a simple cake and add design elements without increasing price. From the first tasting, we knew she would make our wedding cake. She conducts the tastings in her home, and really makes you feel welcome. All of her cakes taste amazing, and she really works to design a cake that you will love.
She can occasionally take a few days to respond to emails, which is understandable given her heavy workload, but she never makes you worry that she's forgotten about you. She is extremely flexible as well. We changed from a sheet cake to 50 cupcakes later in the process, and not only did she make the change without charging any extra, she offered to make three different flavors of cupcakes without any issue. I cannot recommend Girl Meets Cake, Misty, and Mandy enough.

The wedding cake was beautiful and yummy.
And the process of choosing the flavor was super fun: Misty offered us a whole bunch of differently flavored cupcakes to try. A lot of them were very unique combos. We went with chocolate and raspberry in the end, and it turned out great!
A sweet touch: Misty also gave us some really good recommendations on where to get the topper.
Overall, would recommend Girl Meets Cake to anybody in a heart beat!

From the initial tasting to the finished product this vendor is A++. They created one of the prettiest cakes I have ever seen. It must have been very good because no one even left crumbs on their plates. The cake arrived at the promised time and was set up beautifully. They used our cake topper and incorporated it wonderfully into the design. Yummy, yummy, yummy - all three beautiful tiers.

From our first meeting, we knew she would be the one making our wedding cake :) She was so easy to work with, knew what we wanted without us having to say much, and was priced so well. She worked with us when picking our topper and gave us advice on what would look best. In the end, it was more than we ever imagined! She delivered our 2-tier cake with cupcakes (with different flavors) to our venue. The cake was beautiful and was so delicious. We even had some left over and it was still so good. We had so many compliments from guests...even guests saying they want to get future cakes from them. We've definitely found our cake baker for life! Can't wait to get our cake remade for our 1st anniversary!

From our very first meeting, I knew I wanted to work with Misty. She was friendly, had great ideas, and she seemed genuinely excited for us! We came in with pictures of cakes we liked and she took it to the next level. I love funfetti cake and even though it's a pretty non traditional flavor, she said it would be no problem to make. Not only that, but Misty made the most incredible groom's cake for my husband for the rehearsal the day before... it was incredible! It looked like his DJ mixer and everyone raved about how delicious the cake was inside! It's not all about what's on the outside - her cakes LOOK and TASTE incredible!!
And her price? Forget about! She cannot be beat! We went to a few other bakeries and Misty was going to make MORE cake for at least $200 less than those big bakeries... and honestly, her cake was better!!
I can't say enough great things about Misty. She will be my go to "cake lady" from now on - future birthdays, showers... any big event - I'm going with Girl Meets Cake! (I've already referred her to a friend for her mother's retirement party cake!)

If you haven't tried the cakes from this vendor then you are missing out. Girls meet cake makes delicious cakes. They are moist, light, not too sweet. My absoulte favorite is the red velvet cake. However I can assure you whatever flavor you choose you are in for a treat. This is the second time I have had the privilege of eating such an awesome creation. Misty is awesome. And the display of the cake is creative and beautiful. I will continue to use Girls Meet Cake for future events and I think you should too.

Our cake turned out beautifully, and I am going to recommend her to everyone. Go to Misty, guys! Very affordable because she works out of her home in Manassas and therefore doesn't have the overhead costs of paying rent. We tried quite a few cupcakes throughout the Alexandria area, and Misty's by far were the best. Honestly, of all the vendors we worked with for the wedding, Misty was my favorite.

Girl Meets Cake aka Misty is the best! I was stressing out about finding a baker that would work within my budget and when I connected with Misty she put me immediately at ease. So many bakeries/bakers are not flexible with their services, but Misty was really willing to work with us!! When we went for our tasting we had such a fun time and it was really hard to decide what we wanted for our cake, because everything we tasted was delicious. Because we were indecisive, Misty guided us towards the best options for "what we were going for" with our cake; and the end result was the most beautiful and delicious cake we could have asked for! And when I needed some extra floral decor last minute, it was no problem at all! Misty had it all taken care of.

The cake was DELICIOUS! We had cream cheese pound cake for one tier and lemon cake for a second tier. Both of them were amazing and moist! Oh how sweet it was:))) We loved Misty, and loved her cake and macaroon creations even more! Misty was such a pleasure to deal with in every single way. She added such a personal touch to the whole experience, running her business right from home. It felt like having a friend make your cake, instead of some stranger at a crowded cake shop. First off, she held a cake tasting right from home, at no extra charge! Every other vendor we looked at charged a fee, and usually a fairly pricey one. Not only that, but she created the flavors based on what we liked, and not just based on standard flavors. In addition, we had a specific picture of a wedding cake in mind that we brought to her. She was able to make an exact replica of it, and even more beautiful than the one in the picture. Also, she made us macaroons as a special favor to us. Needless to say, her creations were a HUGE hit at the wedding! We highly recommend choosing Misty and Girl Meets Cake. You'll be glad you did. Thanks Misty;)

I had another cake lady originally and she backed out on me at the last minute. Misty was a savior and was able to provide us a cake tasting on very short notice. She worked with us to come up with an original design that met our needs and was exactly what we were looking for. We had our hearts set on a baileys irish cream cake, and it wasn't in the flavor choices on her website. We asked if there was any way she could make us one and she said of course! It was THE BEST CAKE WE HAD EVER TASTED! Immediately we knew that no other cake could even compete, based on taste AND price. On our wedding day, Misty did NOT disappoint! Our cake was delivered on time, was beautiful, and tasted AMAZING! We got a lot of compliments on how pretty and yummy our cake was! Misty always was very quick to respond to any emails and questions I had, and she is a very sweet lady all around. Hubby and I have already decided she will be making our baby shower cake when the time comes.

I recently had a Lilly Pulitzer themed bridal shower at my house and had Misty design a Lilly themed cake, I sent her a picture of what I wanted which was very detailed and she was able to copy the design perfectly. The cake was absolutely gorgeous, her price for all that work was incredible as well. This is the 4th year in a row Girl Meets Cake created an amazing and delicious cake for my daughter's birthday. Misty has made birthday cakes for my grandchildren for years. We have always found Misty to be professional but very personable. She is just as excited to make the cakes and we are to receive them. The décor always exceeds our expectations and every flavor of cake we choose is so delicious. I would highly recommend Girl Meets Cake for any occasion!!

Misty has been creating and baking great looking and best tasting cakes for our family for over 8 years!! She always does a top notch job! For my husbands 30th birthday she handcrafted a chocolate chip vanilla cake with piping camo colored frosting all over, for my nephew, a circus cake that looked like the big top with very cute and real like ediable animals, a life like play tractor cake for one of my 3 sons ! Those are just the beginning of many more great looking and tasting cakes! I always give her a theme and tell her to use her imagination. Love her and all this cake talk has made me realize I need to call her to order my next cake;)

I am a event planner and I frequently recommend Misty to my clients. She has also baked more than a dozen cakes for my personal events over the past 3 years. The cake she provided was a custom design for my best friend's wedding. I remember how excited my friend was after her tasting with Misty - her cakes are delicious but her sweet spirit is what makes the meeting so fun! The cake was so beautiful the bride cried when she saw it. Guests ooh-ed and aah-ed over the cascading ruffles and beautiful fondant bows. Misty did an amazing job with our cake, and it was delicious! She was super easy to work with, and really made our vision (an ombre cake) come to life. She also did these amazing sugar flowers on our cake that were so detailed they looked real - incredible! Misty also provided a grooms cake for a very reasonable price, and it was such a hit that no one wanted to eat it! She made fondont figurines of the groom and bride wrestling in a boxing ring (appropriate bc of my husband's boxing background). The bride and groom even resembled us! She is incredibly creative and I would definitely use her again for birthday parties, etc. We definitely feel like we got a great value for the price we paid.

Misty is absolutely amazing at what she does! She worked with us step by step to custom-design a cake exactly how we wanted it. My husband's groom's cake was supposed to be delivered to our rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding, but her husband was in a car accident (with their kids!) and she still remembered to call me and apologize profusely! Our cake in the car and she worried about us?! she's an absolute gem, a real pleasure to work with, and her cake was AMAZING.
For the amount we paid, plus the amount of cake we received (and had left over!), she is basically perfection as a baker. =) Oh and she even whipped up a few gluten-free cupcakes for us!

Misty really blew us away with her cake services for our wedding! She met with us and we were able to do a tasting and design a cake to look exactly how we had wanted. The cake was absolutely delicious (we had three flavors: spice cake, yellow, and marble chocolate chip)! Her cake was a fraction of the price of other cakes around and in my oppinion, way better! It turned out absolutely delicious and everyone loved it.

I'm so happy we found Girl Meets Cake. Misty is the owner and she is absolutely wonderful to work with. Our cake was so beautiful, she made it exactly how I wanted. And most importantly the cake was delicious!! (both flavors). But you really can't beat her prices for, very affordable!

Such an amazing wedding cake experience! From figuring out the design, to scheduling cake tasting, and beyond - Misty was awesome. To top it off when she found out I didn't get a chance to taste my cake at my wedding she offered to make a topper cake for my husband and I when we return from our honeymoon. 110% would recommend

Misty made a small 3-tier cake for our wedding and the whole experience with her was fantastic! When we first met with her for our tasting and to brainstorm a design for our cake, she was really helpful in taking our ideas and fleshing them out into something we could really visualize and get excited about. Our cake ended up being perfect - everything we had discussed but even better than I had imagined. She absolutely exceeded our expectations. And the actual cake - OMG soooo good!! Misty let us do a different flavor cake for each tier (which was perfect for us since we love cake and couldn't pick just one) and they were all delicious. The lemon cake was my favorite but we also had chocolate and marble cake and those were amazing as well. All of our guests loved the cake - people were actually going back for second helpings! Price wise I found Misty to be the most reasonable vendor around - we paid $320 for 3 tiers (90 servings) which also included the delivery fee. Originally she gave us a bid for a larger cake but when our guest count dropped from an estimated 140 people to 90, she adjusted the size of the cake and the price without any issue. Sometimes Misty took a bit to get back to us (understandable given how busy she is) but she was absolutely worth it and I would definitely recommend her to anyone in the area!

Our experience with Girl Meets Cake was wonderful. We set up our cake tasting which is at the owner's house, Misty. We got to choose 4 cupcakes in any combination we wanted for cake/icing/fillings. When we arrived at our tasting, Misty had everything set up professionally in her office - 1 cupcake for each of us in each of our choices, a bottom of water for each of us, and napkins. They all tasted delicious. Misty was very nice and she did not pressure us one bit. We discussed our desires and needs and she gave us some ideas to piece together what we were looking for. We ended up booking with her that day. We booked a 3 tier cake with a different cake/icing/filling on each tier. In between our booking and the wedding day, there was sometimes a delay in email responses but nonetheless, we always got a friendly response to our questions so no big deal. When the wedding day came, the cake looked absolutely beautiful! Exactly what we wanted! We were very impressed. Because we were so busy during the reception, the only piece that we got to eat that night was our cake cutting bites but our guests loved it and we got many compliments. There was some cake leftover so we did have some the next evening and it was delicious.
Overall, wonderful experience. Delicious cake, friendly service, and very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend and use again.

Misty created a cake that was visually stunning and elegant, and absolutely delicious. She worked with us to create an Art Deco design that suited our style, and customized flavors that pleased our families' diverse cultures. We found her prices to be very reasonable. I can't wait for our first anniversary, because we are going to have her recreate part of that cake for us. Misty helped make our wedding day PERFECT, down to the last delectable morsel!

This review is based on our cake tasting, since I cannot write a fair review of the cake on the day of my wedding because I didn't really eat any. :/ There were some slices of wedding cake that were left out throughout the night, & I tasted the chocolate marble cake the morning after our wedding. It was just as delicious, albeit drier. I think that had something to do with the cake being left out, but again, this review is mostly for the tasting. We really enjoyed working with Misty (the owner), & she even discounted one of her 3-tier cakes, the one we eventually chose. While our budget only allowed for 1 cupcake for each guest w/ other cake bakers, we could get a FULL three-tier cake (no dummy tiers) for a little over our budget with her. She used cupcakes for her tasting, & the cake was moist and — the frosting. Now, I am not a fan of frosting. But Misty’s frostings were so delicious. We were in her home, so if we wanted to try something other than what we selected, she went back to her kitchen to grab a cupcake in that flavor and just fill it in.
She was so much fun, and her humor matched our humor. Every flavor we tasted was really good; it was hard to select a combination that we could agree on. Misty helped guide us with her suggestions and reminded us that we would have a 3-tier cake, so we could have different flavors for our guests with different palates. I e-mailed her about taking her up on her offer of borrowing one of her stands. The stands she had though were a bit too rustic for my taste, so she actually offered to buy a cake stand that better aligned with my vision just to add to her collection as well!
There was a point in time right after we booked with her when I was asking her about a contract, and I didn't hear back from her in at least a week. I came to find out she was on vacation, but I wished I would've known that beforehand. I was worried I would have to look for other cake bakers. Overall, great cake baker. And she came on time!

We hired her for our wedding to make three different cakes (red velvet, chocolate chip marble, vanilla with raspberry filling) and some strawberry cupcakes and all of them were SO delicious and beautiful! Our guests could not stop raving about them! With such beautiful, delicious, and affordable cakes, I would recommend Girl Meets Cake to any bride looking for a baker!

Where do I start?..... Misty was absolutely wonderful! From the first point of contact, I knew we had chosen the right company to make our wedding cake. She and her team are very responsive, professional, and not to mention AMAZING at what they do!! My husband and I wanted our cake to be a spectacular in the way it looked and tasted. We met with Misty and gave her our ideas from the cake flavors, design, and even the cake stand. Misty went above and beyond by hand crafting a custom cake stand for us that fit our vision. It definitely WOW'd us and our guests! We are still getting compliments on how amazing the cake was. (I uploaded a picture of our cake to my page) It really made our day complete. Thank you Misty!!!

One word: YUM! We loved our cupcakes for our wedding day from Misty! My husband doesn't even like sweets and he ate one. I even bought little to-go containers for guests and so many people took one home with them! I was getting pictures the next day of guests eating cupcakes in their hotel room. The cake was beautiful and everything was so moist and delicious. Misty made an assortment of dogwood, cherry blossoms and other fondant flowers along with different color frostings to help distinguish the different cupcake flavors. She even made a sign for them which was a huge lifesaver!

This is the second time that I ordered cake from Girl Meets Cake. The first time was for my daughter's Sweet Sixteen and this time was for her graduation. I can very well say that I was completely satisfied not only with the cake but with Misty's service as well. I gave her ideas on what I want as far as designs and colors and she would come up with the perfect cake for these very special occasions. The cakes were always the highlight of our party and we got lots of compliments from our guests. We all love Misty's cake!
I would highly recommend her to those who are looking for an inexpensive and impressive cake.

Thrilled about our gorgeous & delicious wedding cake!
After a dear friend surprised me with a stunning and delicious cake by Misty for my bridal shower, I knew I wanted another cake by Misty for our wedding day. Not only was Misty kind and flexible to work with, she suggested some beautiful ideas after hearing what I hoped for and on our wedding day, we enjoyed a beautiful and most importantly- a tasty cake that our guests raved about again. Misty was also kind enough to offer to deliver our cake to our venue and decorate it with fresh flowers that we prepared. Overall, it was an absolute pleasure working with Misty and this certainly won’t be our last time ordering an amazing cake from Girl Meets Cake!

Beautiful cake
I hired Misty to make my wedding cake with a simple design. The cake looked gorgeous and tasted great! It came out exactly the way we discussed. She offers a very affordable rate (that you cannot find anywhere else around this area) and even let me borrow a giant cake stand for free. Highly recommend!!
