We loved having our wedding at the George Washington National Masonic Memorial! My fiancé and I actually met while working at this venue three years prior to our wedding, so it was a special place for us. We were married in the theater, had a cocktail hour and reception following in Grand Masonic Hall. The building itself is an amazing work of art, with a lot of great photo opportunities - think red, gold, and marble. We received many compliments from our guests on our choice of this unique venue. We also provided guests with a chance to ride up the elevators during cocktail hour to see the view from the ninth floor - spectacular! Radka and Kevin, and all of the tour guides, are great to work with. We would highly recommend this beautiful venue to other couples getting married in Alexandria!

This venue cannot be beat! It is spectacular the views are amazing, so many locations to photograph (indoors & out!) My guests had nothing but compliments on the space, especially the observation deck! Being from Alexandria so many guests had never had the opportunity to visit the memorial so this was quite special for folks who have lived here for so long admiring the exterior. I loved how each part of the event had its own space. Radka was very easy to work with and the custodial staff was always welcoming and allowed me to poke around whenever I was visiting and planning my set up.

We got married this fall and and we are so happy that we chose the George Washington Masonic National Memorial as our venue. The staff was so helpful, responsive, and a great value. The venue was beautiful and was an stunning spot for out of town and local guests.

We recently held our wedding here and it was everything we hoped for and more!

Radka was very attentive and responsive to all of the questions we had, and the staff on-site were equally knowledgable and attentive leading up to the wedding and the day-of. We held our ceremony in the memorial theater that was absolutely gorgeous, and our reception in the grand masonic hall. Our guests and families could not get over the gorgeousness of the venue and we also had tours to the observatory deck during cocktail hour that had spectacular views of VA, DC and the surrounding areas.

We were also able to book our own caterers and bring everything in (including alcohol), which saved us money in many ways. It was worth every penny and I would recommend this venue to anyone who wants a classic city wedding without paying DC prices!

We were so happy with the Masonic Temple as our venue! What I’m surprised was not noted on here is while they offer vendors, they do not have required vendors. I was able to put together the right team for us and as a result had a perfect day!

Radka is great to work with, she answered all my questions quickly and was very helpful when it came to floor plans and advice. Kevin worked our event – he took great care of us! The staff in general was super accommodating for when I’d need to drop by, even with little heads up.

It’s a beautiful venue, the observation deck during the cocktail hour was an absolute hit. This venue gives you the flexibility to make your wedding day truly your own!

We are SO HAPPY that we chose the Masonic Temple for our wedding venue. From the first time we visited, we loved the venue. We visited for the first time on a weekend and we ran into Abe, one of the maintenance men, who was so welcoming and answered all of our questions. After that first visit, we decided to pursue booking the venue and I began communicating with Radka via email. Radka is so kind and helpful, we had a wonderful experience with her. Responsive to emails and phone calls and VERY accommodating. The venue in general is extremely accommodating and flexible. Not to mention, it is an incredible value for the DC area - you cannot beat the price for being so close to DC, smack dab in the middle of Old Town Alexandria, close to the metro, and very close to nearby hotels!!

We were married in the North Lodge Room and had many compliments about how intimate the setting was; our guests loved the "stadium seating" with the seats above.

For the reception, the Grand Masonic Hall was absolutely beautiful and a large enough space to accommodate 18 guest tables, a dance floor, and a bar. It really is very spacious - even with all of the guest tables there is plenty of space to walk and move about the room. Andy was the building manager on staff the night of the wedding and he was extremely helpful, responsive, and flexible. He was always close by in case we had a question or needed anything. The staff at this venue really cannot be beat.

We also booked the Observation Tower for our guests to visit which was a huge hit. The views are unbeatable! We got so many excellent pictures at the venue - there are a million and one beautiful photo spots on the grounds and in the building. It was spectacular.

Thank you to the entire team at the Masonic Temple for an unforgettable wedding night! We will never forget it!!!!

I am so glad we used the Grand Masonic Hall for our wedding reception! We took the public tour of the GWMNM shortly after we were engaged and really loved the building, the history (my husband is a huge fan of George Washington), the reception space and the views of Old Town. It is very accessible and right next to the metro, Amtrak, hotels, has plenty of parking and the rental price is very reasonable. We worked with the even coordinator, Radka and she is great. She is very responsive to emails, promptly returns calls and has great recommendations for vendors if needed. She worked directly w/ our day of coordinator during the last few weeks which made things easier on me. The security team is awesome let us show my dad and future in laws around on a few separate occasions and turned on lights, let us down into the room and showed us the kitchen. We had our cocktail hour overlooking the Grand Masonic Hall and guest were able to go up to the observation deck at this time too. We had a plated dinner for 155 people w/ plenty of room for dancing, the DJ, the cake, coffee station and the bar down in the room. You do need to bring everything in and get outside vendors but it was not too difficult and was well worth it and our reception was better then we could have even imagined.

We are so glad we chose the GW Masonic Memorial as our wedding venue! For this area it was a great price especially for the amount of time you get there! You are the Only event that day which makes things so much easier- for any of you that had heard/been to/been in a wedding where the site has multiple in a day you know what I'm talking about. We had both our ceremony (in the north lodge) and our reception (in the grand hall) here! There were many options to chose from for rooms based on your wedding size. We worked with their event planner Radka and she was wonderful! She was extremely friendly, responsive to emails, and shared a bunch of information with us like vendors, photos from other weddings, & ideas to help us along the way. They were flexible on little details for us and were extremely friendly! The security staff was great too and helped out! If you are looking for a unique venue, with beautiful grounds, multiple room options, and is architecturally pleasing- I would consider looking here!

Our wedding at the Masonic Memorial turned out great! Aside from being a beautiful place to get married inside, the photo ops on the grounds outside are amazing. Also, it's convenient to downtown Alexandria and located right across from the Metro/Amtrak station for out-of-town guests, with hotels and restaurants less than a mile away right across the street. The staff were really helpful throughout the entire planning process and our guests loved the tour up to the top of the tower during the cocktail hour. The prices have gone up since we booked our wedding here, but it's still a great value and totally worth the money to have your wedding here, especially if you like a more traditional facility with an impressive presence.

GWMM was the first and only venue we visited. It's gorgeous by itself, so there's no need for a ton of decorations. We had our ceremony in the theater and our reception in the Grand Masonic Hall. Everyone who works at the venue is friendly and helpful. Radka, the facilities manager, is energetic and responsive. John and Abe on staff were incredibly helpful at the time of the wedding setting up tables and helping the groom and groomsmen transport beverages and decorations into the venue. As an added bonus, the married couple get to go up the tower for photos overlooking Alexandria. Many of our guests were locals who had never been inside the building but loved it and couldn't believe they'd never been. I can't imagine a better place to have a wedding.

This was my top choice for reception venues, and instantly became my husband's top pick after walking through the venue. The location was amazing. Many of the attendees had never been to the building, but they all enjoyed the spectacular architecture of the historic building. The observation deck was a favorite of attendees as well. Radka was extremely helpful, and we felt that the Memorial really made us feel like we were the only people that mattered for the whole week!

After looking at several venues of varying styles, I decided to check out GWMMA's website. I was surprised and thrilled to find that they did in fact rent event space. We decided to stop by and check it out, and at first glance, I knew we had found our venue! Radka always responded quickly to emails and calls, with detailed information and solutions to everything. She and her staff were a pleasure to work with.
The location itself is unbeatable; great access to transportation, amazing views of the area from the observation deck, great for photo ops, and a landmark!

The Masonic Memorial is truly a hidden gem in the DC area. Not many people even know that this place is available for public rental. You do not have to be a Mason to have your wedding here and the price is more reasonable than you would think. If you are looking to have your wedding/reception at a beautiful, unique, historical venue, then look no further....this is it!

The George Washington Masonic Memorial was the perfect place for my husband and me to get married. One of the other reviewers is correct that you do not have to be a mason to get married there, but if your fiancee or future husband is a mason like my husband, it's even more meaningful a place to be married. We used the North Lodge Room for our actual wedding ceremony and then had the reception in the Grand Masonic Hall. The price was extremely affordable for the DC area and the amazing architecture. The views from the memorial are amazing, especially if you go all the way to the top. Since we were coming from out of town it was very important to us that we have someone who was flexible and willing to work with us remotely via phone calls and email. Radka did exactly that. Even better was the awesome staff that helped the night of the event to make sure everything went well and was setup. We used an outside caterer that had done events there in the past so they new the kitchen and setup well. If you are looking for a jem of a location, you definitely should check out the George Washington Masonic Memorial. You can see all the various rooms they rent out at http://www.gwmemorial.org/facility.php.

The George Washington Masonic National Memorial was the site of my January 23, 2016 wedding. Let me repeat that for you: January 23rd. AKA the dead middle of Winter Storm Jonas's barrage on the entire Mid-Atlantic region. Yep, I got married in a blizzard, y'all.

Now, getting married in the midst of a natural disaster meant that there were a lot of things that didn't go according to plan, and you kind of just had to roll with the punches. You make contingencies, you rework, you make it happen, which is what we had to do in several instances. But thankfully, and the credit is entirely due to the incredible staff at the GW Masonic Memorial, finding a new venue for my big day was not one of the things we had to deal with.

The maintenance staff at the Memorial was nothing short of incredible. Roger, Kevin, and many others whose names I'm embarrassed to have forgotten, literally moved Heaven and Earth to ensure we would still be able to get to our wedding venue. They plowed and shoveled and swept nonstop from Friday night through Saturday to ensure that we'd be able to physically get ourselves onsite. They truly made my wedding dreams a reality, in spite of the insane storm raging on outside, and I will be eternally grateful.

Radka, the venue coordinator, was very pleasant to work with throughout the entire planning process, offering her advice and not batting an eye at how many times I showed up for various unplanned site visits before the big day. She can be a little bit tricky to get ahold of at times, but just be vigilant with your emails/calls and she will always deliver.

I got married in the Memorial Theater, and had my reception in the Grand Masonic Hall. The venue was beautiful, grand, regal, and everything I could have asked for -- with or without the blizzard happening outside. This is the place to get married at if you're looking for that historic, opulent DC-feel without paying historic, opulent DC-prices.

The George Washington Masonic Memorial was our reception venue, and it was amazing - I can't say enough about how impressed our guests were. When we were considering options, we knew we wanted something a bit different than a typical hotel ballroom. The Masonic Memorial is a large and imposing historical structure in Old Town Alexandria, directly opposite the King Street Metro and Amtrak stations. We held the reception for 85 guests in the Grand Masonic Hall (located on the lower level, directly off the parking lot), and it is a beautiful large room chock-full of marble floors and pillars and understated lighting. The great thing is, while the reception took place in the Grand Masonic Hall, we also had access to the rest of the floor, which included a large kitchen and restrooms. We also had several stations throughout the floor, which promoted mingling outside of the Hall and made the space seem even bigger. There is a large free parking lot directly off the room, with a handicapped-accessible ramp. For a reasonable additional fee, the Memorial will provide guests with an opportunity to tour the upper level, which offers an amazing view of Old Town and DC. It was cheaper than many of the other venues that we looked at, and offered much more space, in a grander setting. 6-person wooden tables, long tables, and wooden chairs (looked like school chairs, but were easily covered by chair covers) are included in the rental cost. Fortunately for us, the Memorial wasn't on the bride beaten path, but I am sure it will be! Radka was easy to work with and very helpful, and the physical plant staff responsive (and set out tables and chairs according to our floor plan in advance.) It was a wonderful, wonderful event. Thanks to all of the Memorial staff for making it possible!

LOVED this place as our venue! It was wonderful having a place were we could have both the ceremony and reception without leaving. In fact, the rooms were so different that it felt like we did actually change locations. There are multiple rooms for ceremony, but we chose the more intimate room that resembled a chapel/church - The North Lodge Room. It has an adjacent board room that you enter prior to going in there, so we were able to serve hot chocolate and cider prior to the ceremony. During cocktail hour, the guests were able to go to the top and view the spectacular view of the DMV area. And the ballroom was perfect for the reception. Not to mention, the pictures turned out spectacular!!! There are so many places for amazing photos! I couldn't have been happier with this choice!

We absolutely loved our wedding reception at the Masonic Memorial. It was absolutely beautiful. They were wonderful to work with, let us store items (centerpieces and alcohol) there a couple days before, offered plentiful parking, and the janitors on staff there are helpful, polite, and wonderful. It was difficult at times to get in touch with the events manager, but once we did, everything was fine and worked out just fine. We offered tours to the observation deck for our guests, which they loved. We took our wedding pictures in front of the Memorial, and they are beautiful. I think this venue is really a hidden gem in the DC area.

The Masonic Temple is an AMAZING venue! Absolutely breathtaking! We really appreciated the flexibility the Masonic Temple allowed us with setting everything up and allowing us to come by many times in advance to view the space. The staff at the memorial was very easy to work with and even allowed us some special photo ops on the day of the wedding. The Masonic Temple is such a unique venue and is one your guests will never forget!

This venue is absolutely beautiful. A little pricey, but not for this area. You will love the pictures and the views. Your guests will be absolutely amazed. Our wedding turned into a "magical winter wonderland;" according to my mother. This location is unique and has free parking, which is really hard to find. It's also a great location for wedding parties that have a lot of out of town guests. I would definitely recommend the GW Masonic Memorial. They fill up fast so book early.

This venue is a unique find in the DC area. For the price, you can't really beat the beautiful space and the parking and metro access. We loved that we were able to bring in our own vendors who fit our style and budget. Our guests raved about the view from the observation deck.

However, I will say that Radka was difficult to get a hold of at times and we had a few hiccups the night of our wedding. We were told the guests and bridal party would be able to enter via the front stairs so they could see the gorgeous entryway. By the time the bridal party got there, it was locked and they had to wander around in the dark to try and find the room that was set aside for the bridal party. We had reserved the observation deck for 4 hours but the staffer who was running the elevator left after an hour or two without telling anyone. A special thanks to the building manager who took the rest of our guests up. Unfortunately, he was stretched a little too thin and a few of our guests were stranded up there for about 30 minutes before they were able to make contact with another guest at the reception to help get them back down.

Overall, this is a wonderful venue and a very memorable space. Just make sure you triple check the details with Radka to ensure everything is as you expect.

First off, The GW Masonic Memorial was the perfect venue for our wedding. We had a lot of out of town guests and they were amazed by beauty of the hall. It was exactly what we were looking for - close to DC, reasonable rental costs and gave us the ability to choose all of our own vendors and really make our wedding exactly how we wanted it.

I have to say though, that the process was a struggle. Radka was not as responsive as expected and there was a miscommunication during the planning process that really rubbed us the wrong way with Kevin. The situation caused the hall to threaten to cancel our wedding, which is a Bride's worst nightmare. Thankfully everything worked out, but not with out growing pains. Just be ready to stick your ground and constantly follow up when you need something.

The memorial is lovely and so many of my guests had never been and were excited to attend. However, Radka was not very responsive to my emails and I would have to send my parents to get things done because I didn't live near by. When I couldn't get a response I would call the general number and have one of them find out the answer for me. Well the day before my wedding Radka finally emails us and tells me the opposite answer to what I was previously told and I had to change many of my decorating plans.

The value for the area is great and the security guards on site are so easy to work with and make your wedding day go so easily!!
