They have a huge backlog of songs, and for the ones they didn't already know that were important to us, they were able to learn them quickly and put on an incredible show. Funktastic Productions might just be my new go-to recommendation for DJ and event production! The live DJ and saxophone combo was absolutely unforgettable—unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. Aaron was amazing, keeping the energy high and guests entertained and dancing all night long. Highly recommend for anyone looking to make their event extra special! -

Book them!
Book them. That's it, that's the review. They are incredible, from the preparation, the pre-wedding support, the AMAZING music, and the versatility, Funktastic is incredible every step of the way! Our dance floor was packed the whole night. Well worth the price, an absolute highlight of our celebration!

I've waited a little while to write this review so that I can come down from the wedding day vibe, and also experience a few other wedding bands since the big day. I can now officially say that Funktastic is the best band I've ever seen at a wedding. They have an extensive collection of songs, and they're very generous with their offer for special requests. I did not leave the dance floor to stop dancing once while they were playing, and we didn't need to encourage our guests to come join us - Funktasic's playing ability and energy were magnetic throughout the entire night. Alysha is an INCREDIBLE frontwoman, and the rest of the band did an outstanding job of jamming out the music to add a little variety and keep the people dancing longer! 10/10 would absolutely hire again -

Funktastic was absolutely fantastic!!!!!! They were the best decision we made for our wedding day and I cannot emphasize that enough. Their 10 piece band absolutely rocks - they had the dance floor filled the entire night. Amber was fabulous to work with and worked with us leading up to the wedding day to make sure the MCing and the playlist was perfect! Thank you, Amber!! We also hired Funktastic's string players for our ceremony and used their photobooth, which both added so much to our day. I HIGHLY recommend Funktastic for all of their services - they are great people, very professional, and so talented at what they do! -

Funktastic MADE our wedding! We knew we wanted to work with them after seeing them perform previously, and we actually planned our event around their availability. I HIGHLY recommend Funktastic in any form. We went all out with a 13 piece band, and it was worth every penny. Working with Michael and the band was SO easy, and they were incredibly kind, patient, flexible, and professional while we took our time deciding our setlist. Even though about a month has passed, people are STILL coming up to us and complimenting the band! They did an amazing job reading the room and knowing how to keep the dance floor packed the entire night. They were able to play a wide variety of music ranging from Bruce Springsteen to the Hora to Florence and the Machine. I couldn't have asked for a better group of people to be a part of our special day. Thank you! -

Amber and the Funktastics blew our MINDS!!! Not only were they insanely talented, personable and engaging on the dance floor, they were also so timely and communicative and kind throughout the process. We loved how interactive they were, getting the crowd going and coming onto the dance floor with us! We had an unbelievable night, we didn't leave the dance floor for a single second. I truly couldn’t recommend The Funktastics enough!! We had SO many guests (many of whom are performers themselves) pull us aside and ask who they were saying that they were the best wedding band they’ve ever heard. THANK YOU Funktastics!!! -

Disclaimer: this review is being written before our wedding day. It may seem like I’m putting the cart before the horse by writing this, but our experience with Funktastic Productions thus far has been so positive that I think it’s worth sharing with any couples who are in the preliminary planning phase.
Booking a band was the most important part of wedding planning for my fiancé, which would make one think it would be the most stressful/daunting, but from our first call with Mike to the moment the contract was signed it has been the farthest thing from that.
From the moment we got engaged and started mapping out our vision for our wedding, my fiancé and I agreed that the most important facet of the event was the band. We are live-music fanatics with our taste spanning from The Grateful Dead to a Taylor Swift, so it was important to us to find a band with a range to match. The band’s massive catalog and clips of their repertoire on their website made it a no brainer.
Pair that with Mike’s receptiveness, responsiveness, and insight and we truly feel like we hit the jackpot.
Lastly, of all the bands we met with, Funktastic has the most sophisticated and empowering platform (Releventful) that grants the couple ease of access to communication and collaboration. While some bands gave a vibe of “leave the creative control all to us, we’re the pros” (which we respect) the genuine interest in us as a couple and the invitation to work together to have our vision come to fruition has us confident that we made the right choice.

Funktastic is a vendor you absolutely SHOULD NOT pass up. They are AMAZING in all aspects. First and foremost, they will have your dance floor up and ready to party all night. They are super talented and fun. Second, they are PROFESSIONAL. Whatever you want, they will get it done. They will make you feel special on your special day, and they will tailor their set list to fit what you want for your wedding day. Do not hesitate... book them NOW! -

We came to Funktastic Productions just 5 weeks before our wedding desperate to find a band. Our previous band cancelled and left us without entertainment just 5 weeks before our date. Mike and Funktastic Productions were great from the start. The were able to answer all our questions, and had great communication before our date. They were highly recommended and made us feel comfortable from Day 1. From a process stand point, Funktastic Productions was extremely professional and made us very comfortable. Day of performance was unbelievably good. The sound and vibe of the band was just what we were looking for. The band sounded even better than what we were able to listen to online. We received compliments throughout the night and post our wedding. Could not recommend this band enough not only for the day of performance but for how they handled our stressful situation. -

We can't say enough good things about Mike, Alysha, and this band. We were in a tough spot with only a month to find a wedding band, and this team came through with an incredible performance (and with only 3 weeks to plan!). I feel like every one of our wedding guests had something positive to say about the band, and it truly made our night unforgettable. From the first conversation with Mike, to the planning and day-of coordination with Alysha, we were thoroughly impressed with the professionalism and preparation this group demonstrated. The vocals, instruments, and MC-ing matched/exceeded any live concert we had been to. Don't look any further, book these guys. -

Do yourself a favor- hire Funktastic!
We saw Funktastic at a friends wedding in 2020 and knew we had to hire them for ours- and it was 100% the right decision! Mike & Alysha were so helpful through the entire process, giving their ideas but also letting us have full autonomy - they let us make the set list, learned new songs for us, and even let me father join them for 2 songs which was a really special moment for us. Funktastic played for our ceremony (guitar), during cocktail hour (instrumental jazz trio) and also during the reception (7 piece band). They were so engaging and kept the dance floor full all night- our guests did not want it to end! They are worth every penny & we are so happy to have them as part of our big day. Thank you Mike, Alysha, & rest of the crew!! -

My now husband came across Funktastic Productions when searching the set lists at the BASSment venue in Chicago. Their reviews were all positive, and their videos were unreal. Our two biggest priorities for our wedding day were food and music, so we were prepared to invest in a quality wedding band. Mike and Alysha were so communicative during this entire process, and could not have been more pleasant to work with. They are a genuinely good group of humans, and you can tell that they are all actually friends given their natural chemistry on the stage. They kept us on track and sent us gentle reminders to help keep us on working on our song list and set list preferences. Alysha even learned my favorite Robyn song (ultra Swedish pop, not at all their norm) and absolutely KILLED it. It was probably one of the best songs of the night. Even more special was that they learned all of our first dance songs. To sum it up: their range is astounding, their sound is incomparable, and they will absolutely bring the party. Mike and the Funktastic team are 1st class in every way. Although our wedding was cancelled due to Covid, Mike is always easy to reach, flexible, and very understanding. No hassles, No fuss, No problems. We are so bummed that our wedding was cancelled because Funktastic was going to be one of the highlights of the night. We've seen them play at The Bassment and they had the entire venue rocking all night.
Mike is extremely caring, friendly, and passionate about his work. And if you've never seen him hit the bass, you're missing out. They have an incredible band and are extremely talented. I highly recommend going to see them jam.
In the future, when we need a band for an event, or even a night out to see a band rock, we'll go see these guys any day of the week. -

You want a wedding band? Book Funktastic. They are an absolute thrill and were the highlight of our wedding. Mike is a pleasure to work with, keeps the band tight and well-rehearsed, and was able to accommodate us to learn not only our first dance, but also the father-daughter and mother-son dances as well. You won't find a better wedding band in Chicago. -

Where to begin! First and foremost, Mike and Funktastic Productions has been so professional and FUN to work with! From our first phone conference, to scheduling our setlist, to rescheduling due to Covid 19, I have always felt like a priority. And yes, we did have to reschedule our wedding and they were literally the easiest vendor to move. Just a couple emails confirming the new date/availability, and done! There was no fee, no hassle, and Mike even sent us a little "sorry you had to reschedule" gift in the mail! It was such a sweet surprise :) They are the vendor we have been most excited about working with for our wedding (a fun live band is at the top of our list for our wedding) and I would highly recommend them to any friends or relatives looking for a fun, highly professional band for any occasion!
UPDATE
We had our wedding and OMG...literally the BEST decision I ever made for my wedding was hiring Mike and Funktastic Productions! My guests are still raving weeks later about how much fun they were! I'm a musician myself (so sometimes a bit picky) and I cannot find fault...their singers?? voices are off the charts! And the whole band was super talented.
My favorite part was how much fun they were having! You can tell they love music and love performing and it got the whole party started.
You need to book them NOW! Thank you Mike for making my wedding the most fun night ever!! -

I don't know where to start. Everything with Funktastic was absolutely flawless. Started with talking to Mike about playing our wedding that was originally scheduled for 2020 but was postponed due to Covid and they were able to accommodate our one year postponement without any issues. I ended up working with Alysha who is so incredibly talented and she worked with my wife and I to create the most perfect setlist. We had a few songs that we wanted to be played that weren't in their song catalogue (including our first dance) and they were able to learn the songs and perform them so beautifully. I am a drummer and I asked them if I could play a song with them during the reception and they were happy to let me play and we had a blast playing together (the crowd loved it). You can always tell a great band by how many people are on the dance floor and for how long. Everyone's seat was empty the entire night. Everyone was dancing from start to finish due to the amazing talent of the band and the engaging words from Alysha in between songs. We have received so many compliments about Funktastic, and how people felt like they were at a live concert instead of a wedding and how couples now want them to play their weddings. They made our wedding better than we could have ever imagined and made it the best day of our lives.
Bonus: they were able to provide us with some string musicians for our ceremony, and a DJ for our after party making the entire wedding easy and seamless. -

From initial outreach and introductions with the band to choosing the band composition and setlist, Mike was incredibly responsive, flexible, proactive, and most importantly - accommodating.
Mike gave us the opportunity to check out the band at various venues leading up to our wedding day, he always made sure that we were taken care of and having a good time.
He was never one that we had to chase down for answers, and approached each topic and question with enthusiasm and energy so that they could deliver for our big day.
The guitar & keyboard duo for cocktail hour was elegant, his emceeing gave our reception structure and flow, and when it came time to dance, the band knocked the music out of the park.
We will be sure to get out and see Funktastic at shows in the future, and cannot recommend them highly enough. The affordability combined with the flexibility and wide range of music that this band offers is unparalleled.

We had so many guests tell us that it was one of the best receptions they've ever been to and I've gotta give props to Funktastic for that one. Laura Sent on 02/20/2018We first heard Funktastic play at The Bassment two years ago. They had the crowd dancing the entire night with an energy that was contagious. When we got engaged, the first thing we did was book Funktastic for our wedding! They were incredible to work with - from the planning stage to traveling to Peoria for the big event. All of our guests couldn't stop talking about the talented band from Chicago that kept people on their feet all night....and they are still talking about it two months later! The wide variety of music got people of all ages on their feet dancing and Laura's beautiful voice was captivating! The sax, drums, and bass were no exception! Mike is not only is an amazing band leader, but also a phenomenal MC. We were SO lucky and happy to have found the best band to play at the most special celebration of our life. Thank you for making our reception one that will go down in history!

Collin Sent on 02/20/2018If you like live funk music as much as my wife and I do, Mike Zabrin's Funktastic are exactly the kind of band you want at your event. The whole band are super talented musicians who brought so much energy, tight beats and deep grooves to our wedding reception. The moment the band started to play everyone was on the dance floor getting down and kept it going for hours. We made a number of specific song requests and they killed them. Mike plugged right into our program and took on MC duties masterfully. Seriously, such a good band. We highly recommend Mike Zabrin's Funktastic!

Funktastic completely exceeded every expectation we had! When planning our wedding, Funktastic provided an incredibly user-friendly and flexible setlist builder. It really makes you feel like you can curate exactly the kind of party you want. They're also willing to learn a few songs, as needed for special moments.
They are probably the best band I've ever encountered at a wedding or event. We received compliment after compliment during our reception on the band. It's now two weeks later, and our friends and family are still talking about how good Funktastic was! I've even had people tell me they wished they would've spent every minute on the dancefloor to not miss out on any song they played. We would highly recommend adding on the extra horns, as it really elevated the party! Thank you again to Alysha and her band members for an incredible evening! -
