During our first phone meeting, Steve earned our trust through his vast knowledge, kind nature, and innovative ideas for engaging with guests. He truly listened to our vision for the wedding and cared about reflecting it authentically. Many people mentioned how incredible the DJ was and asked if we knew him personally, since he catered to our personalities and shared why certain songs were important to us as a couple.
On the wedding day, he skillfully flowed through each phase of the event’s timeline. Steve’s expertise was proven by “reading the room” and pivoting as needed to keep folks on the dance floor. He was a pleasure to collaborate with and we’d hire him again in a heartbeat. We cannot recommend him enough! -

We couldn’t have asked for a better DJ/MC than Steve from Function 45! From our very first meeting, he was professional, attentive, and truly committed to making our wedding unforgettable.
Steve didn’t just play music; he created an experience. His energy, charisma, and seamless transitions made every moment feel special. From the heartfelt introductions to the perfectly timed announcements and the high-energy dance sets, he kept the vibe exactly where it needed to be.
We also got the photobooth through Steve, and it was perfect! We didn’t have to worry about setup or anything — everything was taken care of seamlessly. Our guests had a blast taking fun photos and leaving us heartfelt (and hilarious) video messages. It was such a hit and added an extra layer of fun to the night!
If I knew then what I know now, I would pay double for Steve because he truly had the biggest impact on the night. Out of all of our amazing vendors, we received the most compliments on Steve! He brought our vision to life in a way that exceeded every expectation.
He also handled last-minute requests and curveballs with absolute ease, ensuring the night went off without a hitch. Whether it was the perfect slow song during a tender moment or a party anthem that had everyone cheering, Steve absolutely nailed it! Even my out-of-town guests were asking how they could get Steve to Texas for their daughter’s wedding.

We had an outdoor wedding at a campsite that included minimal electrical connections for the DJ and roaring rapids along the river, American River Resort in Coloma. Function 45 showed up with all the equipment needed for a good time and a mic for our officant. After the wedding I got so many complicates on the dance party portion and everyone came up to me expressing how much fun the DJ was. We also got some cool lights that went with the beat of the music, highly recommend this add-on! -

Steve puts the FUN in Function45! He kept all the guests out on the dance floor all night. He gave us wonderful ideas for keeping guests entertained as well as adding our special touches throughout the night. He played all of our must have songs, even my quirky special ones. We’ve had the pleasure of working with Steve multiple times now and we know he’s the best in the business. Thank you so much Steve for making our night unforgettable! -

Steve was fantastic and made our wedding so much fun and enjoyable. He kept the pace and rhythm going throughout our ceremony, dinner, and dancing. We had two check-in calls with him prior to our wedding where he went in detail about our song choices, schedule, and made sure how to pronounce everyone's names (a lor our guests had Chinese names). Steve also promptly responded to our questions over email or text. I appreciated how Steve had creative ideas for how to make our wedding more personal, including different options for the ceremony, how to introduce each member of our wedding party, and options for how to entertain guests during the reception. Additionally, his song choices are stellar and he was able to gauge the mood of the audience and adjusted music and dancing accordingly. I was so pleasantly surprised that he got our guests to dance (we didn't think our guest list would be the dancing type). I think Steve picked up that our guests liked to sing, so he played a lot of songs that everyone could sing and dance to at the same time such as Mr. Brightside, Don't Stop Believin', Taylor Swift songs, Britney Spears songs, etc. I also loved that Steve had add-on items such as a photo booth, uplights, and a bubble machine. I highly recommend all three as they really enhanced the vibe of our dance floor! -

When you are looking for a DJ, I honestly feel like it’s worth to spend the extra $$$, as they control the vibe for the entire wedding. Steve is phenomenal and worth every cent!! His communication is excellent and he had great ideas that made my wedding extremely unique to others. I had people tell us days after the wedding how amazing of a DJ Steve was. I HIGHLY recommend Steve, he’s amazing. -

Major praise for DJ Steve! He is very professional and experienced, while also making the wedding planning process fun! My wife and I are low-key, not “life of the party” kind of people so Steve was instrumental in making our wedding a blast. He was honest about what would and would not work given the size of our wedding, vibe, and preferences, but listened to us and let us call the shots. Steve is definitely well known in the Sacramento wedding scene, as our officiant, photographer, and videographer all knew him from past events. We highly recommend Steve for your next event! -

This review is way overdue, but we can't recommend Steve and Function 45 enough! We got married in July, and here four months later, one of the first things our family and friends still mention when discussing our wedding is how great our DJ was. Steve was incredibly helpful throughout the planning process, made us feel at ease, and helped us make decisions to craft an experience that truly reflected us as a couple. On the day of the wedding, we had no worries about anything going wrong because of the wealth of knowledge and experience he brings. However equally as important, and what is harder to put into words, is how much heart Steve brought to our wedding day - he has a passion for what he does and an ability to seamlessly guide your guests throughout the day while keeping the energy up. Everyone loved it! He not only incorporated our songs/activities/dances/etc. but included a few surprises that made our day extra special. Steve, thank you so much for everything! -

Wow, Steve at Function 45 was a wonderful time! After a terrible COVID experience with my previous DJ's falling through due to not being able to accomodate my date changes, I got in touch with Steve and he made for a memorable night! Everything went smooth and a great amount of people danced until the very end of our wedding night! One thing I wanted to call out that was unexpected but such a great addition was his music playing for the guests to be excused to get their food at the buffet and this is why: Each of my tables had a theme of a country my husband and I traveled to and for each table he excused, he played a love song that resonated with that country (like That's Amoré for Italy). WOW! What a fun surprise and guests noticed. I highly recommend Steve for your events. He knows how to throw a great party! -

We had an AMAZING wedding despite the 2020 curveballs! Function 45 was a major part of making our day a success and full of wonderful memories! We weren’t sure if we really had a big dancing crowd invited to our wedding, but Steve reminded us that it’s not all about a full dance floor. He expressed that he has a passion for creating little moments that make the guests feel the love that they came to celebrate. Some DJ’s just play music in the background, but not Steve! He kept our guests informed, engaged, and made every transition of the evening (grand entrance, toasts, first dance, father -daughter, mother-son dance, cake cutting) so smooth. Steve asked us in a planning meeting why we selected each song for those special moments and he mentioned our reasoning as he introduced each special dance so our family and friends knew why we chose what we did. He also asked our guests to come up with a movie title to describe our relationship and then read off the top ten! Everyone got a good laugh out of those, including us! LOL All around Steve made our wedding so memorable AND we ended up with a full dance floor! Win win! People always talk about DJ’s being pricey, but when you realize the talent, the passion, and the attention to detail in creating magical moments for your wedding, it’s worth the investment! My husband and I highly recommend Function 45! Steve is AMAZING! -

Steve, was the PERFECT person to DJ our wedding. He not only was personable but interactive with the crowd. He had great ideas regarding crowd interaction as well as played music for all age groups to enjoy! We had to move our venue three different times due to the pandemic and he followed us the entire way. Steve was rooting for us and made us feel so important. Our friends and family continue to say to this day how much they loved our DJ! The day went exactly how we dreamt of it going and a lot of that is due to Steve! -

We simply can’t say enough about how amazing our experience was with Steve. From the first planning session to minutes before the wedding he was there to turn our vision into reality while also being honest with us about things that wouldn’t work from his experience. He was 100% spot on about it all. You can have the perfect visual details to a wedding but what truly makes it fun is everyone breaking the ice and partying, and Steve facilitates that seamlessly, letting you relax and enjoy the day. -

Our wedding day was perfect for us. It went off without a problem, and we/our guests had a great time. We owe most of that to Steve and Function 45. OMG, words do not describe how glad we are to have hired him. He knows what he’s doing and he helped these two homebodies through a fun wedding reception. We decided to hire Steve for our wedding entertainment after meeting him at a wedding open house. He had such great energy and sitting down and talking with him made it all the more clear that he would be the perfect DJ/MC to keep the party going at our wedding. Steve happened to be one of the preferred vendors for our wedding venue, the Firehouse restaurant, and in talking with all our other vendors when we mentioned Steve was our DJ, it was always followed by “Steve is the best”- and I was happy to hear about his excellent reputation among other people in the wedding industry!
When we had our sit down meeting with Steve, he helped incorporate all of our ideas and favorite songs we wanted and had some great ideas to help us make our special day unique and entertaining for our guests. When the big day came, Steve and his assistant were timely and ready to execute the plan we had put together. His energy and vibe were fantastic and set the tone for a beautiful ceremony followed by a fun filled reception. The dance floor stayed full the entire night and we and our guests had an amazing time. We got so many compliments that night and the days following our wedding that it felt like a party and was one of the best weddings they had ever been to and a majority of that credit goes to Steve & Function 45. If you want a team that is going to deliver a great time for you and your guests, look no further. We are incredibly thankful to have Function 45 be part of our special day.

Where can I start about Function 45... We decided to hire Steve for our wedding entertainment after talking with him and three other different DJs. We connected with him right away, and his pricing was reasonable. Not too cheap to make you worry why it was indeed so inexpensive, but also not too expensive to make you shake your head and hide your wallet.
As soon as we booked with Steve, he gave us some worksheets to think about different songs and items he will be looking for once we meet a month and a half before the wedding. We arrived at his office once that day came, which is nicely decorated and super comfortable. He was well-prepared and asked all of the right questions just to get a feel for who we are as a couple and what kind of feel we wanted for our big day. After we exchanged ideas and planned the timeline for the day, we felt super comfortable and knew he would be able to execute it with no problem.
Steve and his assistant arrived timely on the big day and had everything set up on time and with such ease. He didn't even need to ask us anything because he was so prepared. Everything went according to timeline as discussed, as if we had just met the day before. We got so many compliments about him and how our DJ was so good and really got the crowd going! We loved that he was open to requests - and our guests really loved that too! It made it more fun and interesting, instead of having people wait around for a song they like before coming out to the dance floor.
A million thank yous to Steve & Function 45 for a flawless event. A DJ is such a crucial part for a wedding and we are so pleased with their service and happy that our guests felt the same way! THANKS STEVE!

Steve and his team at Function 45 was amazing! He kept all of our guests entertained and engaged, involved all of the wedding party in the entertainment, and kept the dance party moving all night. In the planning process, he had a ton of great ideas like the social media moment and the wedding party introductions that we ended up doing for our wedding. He helped us pick out the perfect songs for every important moment of our wedding and had a ton of great tips for us. Our guests raved about him all night and he had the most compliments from our guests out of all of the vendors that night.
We also opted to get the photo/video booth from him, and his lovely wife put together a beautiful memory book that we got to take home with us the next day. We definitely had a bit of the post-wedding blues as all of our family and friends flew out the next day so it was really nice to be able to flip through the book and feel the love all over again.
We are so happy we went with Steve for our DJ/MC and photo booth. Don't go with Steve if you just want someone to play background music for your event. Highly recommend if you want highly engaged guests at a wedding, party, or any other celebration! -

With a NYE Wedding, we had a huge bill to fit and Steve was the man for the job. He was the first vendor outside of our venue that we hired and he was worth every single penny. Our family and friends have continuously told us what an amazing time they had at our wedding and it was all because of him!
Steve came highly recommended by our venue coordinator, so we set up a phone interview. Typical phone interview may be 30 minutes or so, right? Not with Steve! We were on the phone over 2 hours. He felt like a friend immediately and understood the party vibe we wanted our wedding to have. We had 2 more appointments between that and the big day so that Steve could nail down all of the details.
The day of, everything went perfectly. Steve kept our guests on the move all night long--the goal since we wanted everyone to party through midnight with us. He kept everyone awake and involved and it was the best! He even threw in a few surprises for Brandon and myself. We had the most amazing time! He is not just a run of the mill DJ--the man is an entertainer!
We love you Steve. We are so glad we found you and that you said yes to us! -

Katie Sent on 07/06/2011I could not say enough about Steve and Function 45. My husband and I were married on June 18th, 2005 and our wedding could not have been more perfect. Your wedding DJ is one of the most important decisions you will make about your big day and we could not be happier that we chose Steve. He came highly recommended to us through family and when we met him, we instantly knew why. He goes to great lengths to make sure that your day goes exactly the way you want it to. He spent a tremendous amount of time with us getting to know us and finding out what was most important to us on this day. He did an amazing job of keeping the party going the whole time and making sure the guests were too entertained to want to leave early. His music choices were perfect for our group of people and he made sure that he played music that could apply to everyone. We've recommended him several times to friends and I'm happy to say that all 5 couples ended up choosing him as well. He has become a friend of ours and we're so pleased to have seen him at so many weddings since ours. We felt his prices were completely reasonable considering he's the reason the whole day flowed so well. He is a pro and extremely professional. He's very good at what he does and he is the only DJ we would ever recommend. You could not go wrong in choosing him. You could only go wrong if you don't. -

Everyone had a great time, and mentioned how fun this game he had everyone play, 'singing tables' I think was the name, while we were taking pics after the ceremony. There were also things like 'candy toss' for the kids and another game we played as a couple at the reception. Basically a lot of unique stuff added to the reception that everyone got a kick out of! All of my specific song choices (down the aisle, first dance, etc) sounded great, I heard the dance songs I wanted to hear, I didn't hear any of our 'Do not play' songs, it was all great!
He was also very easy in the planning process, we had to reschedule/cancel one of our meetings with him (car trouble) and he was very understanding, 'no prob, I'm here to help with wedding stress' type of response, so that was very much appreciated by us at the time. Also, during planning, I'm very musical and have a very musical family, so I had many, many song ideas :) he welcomed any/all ideas saying he really would rather have too much info than not enough, so that eased my mind. Music is very important to me, and the music that night was perfect and just what we wanted! Thanks again Jeff!! -

Crystal Sent on 04/14/2011I couldn't have done it without Steve. He listens to everything you need on your wedding day and makes sure to keep everything on schedule. Every Song is hand picked for you. He even brings a generator in case the power may go out.
You'll still be dancing the night away. It was unbelievable but Everyone in the room was dancing. I stopped during the end of the night to take it all in, and everyone was up dancing having fun.He talks to all the other vendors on your day so you dont have everyone asking millions of questions. I was the most stressless bride and I am thankful for Steve. Our lfirst dance was the most priceless memory to me. He put our words to each other into our first dance(recorded eariler). There was specail lights that made it look like we were dancing under the stars. Three years later I still cry listening to our song he made for us!! When the lights turned back up there wasnt a dry eye in the room. !! We have been to two more wedding with him because our family and friends loved him so much!
