Sarah and Andrea were both wonderful to work with! They created such a magical ceremony and made it so very memorable for us and all our guests. From the initial planning stages up until the big day, they were there every step along the way. We would absolutely recommend their services without a doubt! Worth every penny and then some!! We are eternally grateful for them!

Thanks to Andrea, we had a beautiful wedding day. Our wedding was with a very short notice, but Andrea was very flexible and helpful, so we were able to make it happpen in a couple of days. She is very proffesional and accomodating.

Our wedding day was the most important day of our lives. Andrea Purtell our Wedding Officiant was the most professional and loving woman we had ever met. She made our wedding day more than we dreamed of and could not have asked for anything more. Our Wedding Day

Andrea waa very professional from the first time I contacted her in January. She was courteous kind and understanding of the importance of our day and ceremony. Although the weather was threatening rain she kept in touch with me all the way until hours before we arrived on the beach.
I would Recommend Andrea over and over again. Thank you for our great Experience.

My husband and I cannot thank Andrea enough for an absolutely perfect wedding ceremony. From the moment we sat with her we had no doubt we wanted her to officiate our wedding. She allows you to completely customize your ceremony. We sent her what we wanted to include and she sent us a copy of the ceremony to approve. It was so beautiful I cried just reading it. She included family members who had passed and a beautiful wine box ceremony. Every guest has said what a beautiful job she did. She arrived early to confirm details with us, our witnesses and our venue. Her words during the ceremony were beautiful and touched everyone. We cannot thank Andrea enough for making our wedding ceremony absolutely perfect and one to remember for the rest of our lives.

Andrea was an excellent officiant. We were able to use her ceremony menu to create a beautiful ceremony. She was extremely responsive and easy to get a hold of throughout the planning process and was very flexible with multiple last minute changes. She is extremely detail oriented and thorough and coordinated with the director of our venue and the ceremony musician. We received so many compliments on our ceremony; one of my mother's friends even asked us for Andrea's name and info so she could use her down the road if/when her kids get married!

Andrea was very helpful in providing many different (and lovely) ideas for ceremonies, including those that were already written, mixing-and-matching, as well as being open and flexible to any and all ideas the bride and groom might have. She provided endless resources and advice when solicited. Andrea responded promptly through e-mail and took the initiative in contacting us as the wedding date approached to make absolutely sure that everything was to our liking. She was able to personalize our ceremony based on our desires and preferences and offer any relevant suggestions. She has a very pleasant, friendly, open, and soothing demeanor. Her ceremonies are all beautiful--it was not easy making a decision! On the day of our wedding, she arrived early as promised, and did her best to prepare everyone and everything (even on a windy day with pending rainstorms!) to make sure that all went smoothly. She has reasonable pricing as well.

We had a short notice wedding, and Andrea was so easy to work with, helped keep the day as stress free as possible for me. Everything was even more perfect than I could have imagined! Constant contact, Andrea was always available to answer any questions and give me adivse. I couldnt have asked for a more perfect day and I thank Andrea for everything she did for us!

There are so many little elements of a wedding that need to come together to make it the wedding of your dreams. Andrea helped us do just that. By understanding our vision, helping with decorations, and her selection of ceremony options, it was all very simple. We couldn't have imagined that it would be as beautiful as it was. She is both professional and personable. She fit right in with our vision and is beautifully spoken. She gave great advice to make things run smoothly and the days before when we were nervous about how things would run, she walked us through everything. She filed the paperwork and told us how to get the license following. She is knowledgeable and patient. Without a doubt we recommend her to anyone and everyone!

Andrea is such a pleasant and wonderful person to work with! She was very quick to reply to our e-mails back and forth. She was always on top of things and made sure the two of us were completely satisfied before our ceremony. Andrea came before our ceremony to quickly go through the process of everything since we opted out of a rehearsal. She was extremely knowledgable and patient with all questions. Andrea's support with our wedding ceremony went above-and-beyond what we could have imagined! We hired her to provide same-day coordination for our wedding ceremony. She was on top of every single detail, organized a really helpful rehearsal the night before, and was so composed, calm, and helpful the whole time. When our original plan to have the ceremony on the beach itself didn't work out due to weather issues, she helped us transition to another option and provided a source of calm and comfort every step of the way. She was a delight to work with, is extremely knowledgable about beach weddings and wedding ceremonies in general, and we couldn't recommend her highly enough. Thank you so much, Andrea!

Andrea was so great to work with! We had previously met with officiants that either charged an exorbitant travel fee or wanted us to change our ceremony time so they could officiate two weddings across the county from each other, back-to-back.

Andrea has a menu of options for each portion of the ceremony, which was very helpful to us. We wanted to change a few wordings of the passages and add a reading of our own, and she had no problem with this. As soon as changes were made, Andrea sent us a fresh copy of the ceremony to proof.

She was punctual for the rehearsal the night before the ceremony, and early on the day of so she could coordinate with other vendors and our venue. We had a beautiful ceremony!

We were rushing to pack for our honeymoon and forgot to pack our marriage certificate, which we needed to get our honeymoon perks, so we emailed Andrea to see if she could scan and send a copy. She promptly responded with a PDF of our certificate, which was extremely nice of her!

Amazing Officiant!

Andrea is an amazing officiant and such an easy person to work with! In all the stress of wedding planning we never had to worry about our ceremony. She has so many different choices for each part of the ceremony, so it is totally personalized to you! And if you don’t want to pick each part, she has great traditional ceremonies as well! Andrea is so sweet and patient! She responded to emails very quickly and was willing to meet whenever we needed to go over anything. My guests were complimenting her and the ceremony all night! She was also very helpful in guiding us through the marriage license process, which I would’ve had no idea how to navigate without her. Definitely can’t go wrong with Andrea!

Andrea was amazing. We eloped and not only did she officiate our ceremony, she helped guide us through what we needed to do prior to our wedding day. Andrea gave us a beautiful and intimate ceremony. It was so sweet because we fell short of one witness and she asked a woman in the park with her children to witness (thanks Kelli!!) for us ....just so we could get married on our day. The best choice for an officiant!

Andrea was the best! She was very easy to work with and we loved her "build your own ceremony" feature on her website. She helped us put together the perfect ceremony and was very professional during the whole process. The day of the wedding was very windy, but she easily navigated the weather issues. We also did a run through before to ease our worries about the sound/wind and readings. I would highly recommend her to anyone and everyone getting married at the Jersey Shore.

I cannot say enough about how great Andrea was to work with. From our first phone call to my wedding day, she was professional, personable, prompt, efficient and a JOY to work with. Andrea was wonderful and provided a diverse selection of written material to build the service for our daughters baptism. We had a beautiful backyard ceremony surrounded by family and friends that I believe left lasting memories for all who attended.

When it came time to find an officiant, I did a Google search of wedding officiants in NJ. Andrea Purtell of This Joyous Occasion was one of the first to pop up in my search results! I liked her website, the thoroughness of her wedding package descriptions, her availability, her overall tone and website appearance, and just had a good vibe about her from the onset. Andrea had scripts for weddings, recommended readings, links to vendors she'd worked with, etc. Her website had a very user-friendly, bride-friendly element -- it's as warm and inviting as she is!

While Andrea recommended getting in touch via Skype or phone to discuss wedding details, we actually planned our entire event THROUGH EMAIL. I found a wedding "script" I liked on Andrea's site, went through her suggested readings, and made adjustments to the run-through based on our personal preferences. Andrea was completely open to any changes or suggestions that were in the original script - extremely accommodating!

The day of our wedding was the first time we spoke to Andrea and met her in person. I actually "ran into her" in the lobby. Andrea was SO WARM AND FRIENDLY!!! Just as sweet as her emails. I have to say, I'm not a bridezilla and I was calm as a cucumber the day I got married. My now husband and I had been living together for a year and this day came together as if it were any other -- in an incredibly good way. I wasn't worried about our ceremony knowing it was in Andrea's hands, and after talking to her for a few minutes prior to our nuptials, I was CERTAIN we would have a wonderful ceremony.

A JOYOUS OCCASION INDEED! I cannot recommend Andrea enough!

I cannot begin to express how wonderful Andrea was. Unfortunately due to Hurricane Sandy our original plans had to be changed on very short notice. Not only was Andrea flexible with the time and venue changes, she went out of her way to find us a new venue. She was easy to get a hold of and always had wonderful suggestions and ideas. We cannot wait to use her again for our vow renewal ceremony.

From start to finish Andrea was a dream to work with. Every time I reached out she responded right away. Andrea had great suggestions and a long list of options for every part of our ceremony. She was truly committed to creating an experience unique to us. We loved our shell blessing ceremony by the beach. It was so much fun having the everyone come to the water's edge for to toss the shells in the water. Such awesome photos! Andrea's setup was fantastic, she could be clearly heard by all, even on a windy beach. We received so many compliments about our ceremony. It was a truly wonderful collaboration and ceremony. I could not have asked for anything more. From the first e-mail contact to our first meeting Andrea was so pleasant and professional. Her Guidance and all her knowledge of baptisms and blessings was what made our special day for our little one perfect. The Rose Blessing was so beautiful I loved how we were able include everyone in the blessing and we ended in a big circle of family and friends holding hands. They say it takes a village to raise a child and Andrea helped us show our village how much they mean to us and our children.

"What a Beautiful Ceremony" were the comments from all our guests. Andrea was absolutely wonderful. From the first time we spoke on the phone to the continuous contact by e-mails, we knew we had the right person to officiate our wedding. Andrea had so many good ideas and gave us a few choices of ceremonies and walked us through the entire process. We knew the type of ceremony we wanted and it seemed we were always on the same page, with a few tweaks we had just what we wanted.
Andrea came to our rehearsal and and gave perfect direction to all of our family and made it all very easy .

Andrea is Very Professional, Experienced and Very Very good at what she does.

My husband and I were so very blessed to find Andrea to marry us! Andrea could not have been better! From the time leading up to the wedding, until after the ceremony, she was professional and kind. We could not have asked for a better experience. Leading up to the ceremony, she sent reminders to make sure we were on top of our marriage license. She catered every word in the ceremony to exactly what we wanted. The day of she arrived well before the start of the ceremony and made sure everything was still ok. It was such a pleasure to work with her and hope she is available in the future when we need her services again!

Andrea Purtell made our wedding wonderful. Andrea was able to get the wedding party organized without any prior rehearsals, and was articulate in asking what we wanted and gave us choices on how we wanted out wedding to proceed. The ceremony was better than we could have asked; being a religious ceremony, but overly so. Ms. Purtell displayed a wide range of knowledge on what we wanted and was able to deliver for a wonderful and happy wedding.

We reached out to Andrea in a panic about a month before our wedding after our previous plans fell through. I would highly recommend Andrea for any type of ceremony. She was so helpful with all our questions and very quick to respond. She was professional and very friendly. Such a nice woman! Her website offers many options, even a Disney themed ceremony, that my daughter adored and used. Andrea was very willing to make any changes we wanted and was very reasonably priced. Her website also offers venue and ceremony ideas which helped out a lot. She made the whole process pleasant and stress free. It was a wonderful ceremony.

Andrea was amazing from the get go! She responded to emails quickly, and took time to skype with us since we couldn't chat in person. After I showed her an idea I had for a ceremony she transformed it into the most beautiful storybook ceremony anyone could have asked for. Andrea is the best out there

We were riding blind when we picked an officiant for our wedding and she was so beyond wonderful that she was our favorite "vendor" that day! Four years later, there was no doubt in mind that we would use Andrea to officiate our baby blessing ceremony for our son. Families were hesitant on what this ceremony would be like and then told us, "it was so beautiful, your officiant did an amazing job and this was the best christening I've ever been to." If you are getting married, you need an officiant who genuinly cares about the whole coordination and presentation of your ceremony.. He/ she is the most important part of your ceremony after all. I cannot recommend Andrea highly enough! She officiated our April wedding, and our guests could not stop commenting on how beautiful our ceremony was. Andrea truly takes the time to help you craft a ceremony that is unique and special for each couple, and is very flexible on any custom pieces you may want to add. I am so happy that my husband and I chose Andrea and For This Joyous Occasion to officiate our wedding ceremony on 8/20/17. From the beginning, Andrea was incredibly informative and easy to work with. My husband and I are from different religious backgrounds and were unsure which route to go officiant-wise. We interviewed a couple of non-denominational officiants but they came off as very salesmanlike. Andrea was willing to accommodate us with a Skype info session and provided us with all of the information we needed. We wanted a short, but personalized ceremony. Her calm manner and understanding made the process incredibly easy. We filled out a worksheet with the information we wanted included and met with her to review. She was so helpful with instructing us on how to file the legal documentation too, which was so useful because it can get confusing. Everyone loved our personalized ceremony that she put together. I highly recommend Andrea to officiate your special day!

Joyous Indeed!

My husband and I found Andrea’s reviews on wedding wire, took a close look at her website and felt confident in what we could expect.
Andrea was wonderful. She was quick to respond, always kind and professional, and accommodating. Andrea never made us feel she was going to “run with our money”- trust me, you would be surprised!
Andrea handled both of our families (mostly mine LOL) at the rehearsal seamlessly with no hiccups.
For a day of some chaos, she was supportive and soft-spoken that added Zen to the day where it was needed.
Over all: hire Andrea and you will not be disappointed! :)

I was so nervous about having a simple but beautiful beach wedding. Andrea worked with us to make a memorable ceremony that included our children. Sarah did an amazing job performing our ceremony and was able to calm my nerves before the ceremony (thank you Sarah). I cannot thank you both enough for making our special day even more special!

If you are looking for someone to go above and beyond and really make your wedding special Andrea of this joyous occasion is the woman to see. My husband is a Marine and she helped me learn more about what it means to be the wife of a United States Marine. She takes the time to really make sure that the wedding service that she provides is the one of your dreams. Andrea was absolutely wonderful. She was so nice and easy to work with. She made the whole process wonderful and my guests couldn't stop singing her praises. She has a wonderful format that she emails you and you can pick or choose your ceremony or write your own. She also got my paperwork to the office so quick and my wedding license was ready for pickup in just a few days after the ceremony. Thank you so much Andrea!!!

Andrea is the BEST! We worked with Andrea to create a Baby Blessing ceremony on the beach for our twin daughters and Andrea went above and beyond to make the day a smooth, beautiful, memorable event for all who attended. ALL of my guests were totally blown away (even the more "hard to please" type were raving the best reviews) with how lovely the ceremony was and they're still talking about that amazing day. To this day and probably always, THE most touching, beautiful event I've ever attended, and not just because it was our event - it was really THAT special, I promise! I have already recommended her services to others and I will continue to do so - Andrea is truly an amazing, kind-hearted soul. There is an amazing energy about her - she genuinely speaks from her heart and you can feel it, the sort of person you feel like you've known your whole life - we LOVE her!

Andrea was an excellent officiant. She was incredibly responsive when we had a question, made sure we had all of the information necessary for us with our marriage certificate and licence, and had so many options to choose from for our ceremony that we felt we were really able to customize it to our personal preferences. Did a fantastic job for our wedding ceremony, would definitely recommend.

Andrea was just amazing! From the time we got engaged, we knew that we didn’t want a “typical” ceremony that could be meant for anyone. We wanted something that reflected our personalities and our relationship. The thought of putting together your ceremony can be extremely daunting, but I promise it won’t be with Andrea! She makes it so simple and easy, leaving you with plenty of time and energy left for the rest of wedding planning. Andrea had multiple options to choose from and even allows you to “build your own ceremony,” which is the route we chose to go! This allowed us to tailor the ceremony to us. Andrea also gives you the option to fill out a questionnaire, we found this to be extremely fun and rewarding. It allows you to reflect on your relationship and also allows her to personalize your ceremony even more. We can’t thank Andrea enough for being such a huge part of our day!

Highly recommend!

I found Andrea's websites from Google searching for someone to perform our ceremony for a small local wedding. Her website is welcoming, very informative, and without meeting her, you can tell that she is professional and passionate in what she does. It was also refreshing to see someone with the same values as us on marriage equality. I instantly felt a trust here, and knew that she'd be the person doing our ceremony.

At first, we were planning on having a micro wedding. Even being micro, the wedding planning seemed to be more about pleasing other family, and not being true to ourselves. For months, I found myself repeatedly going back to Andrea's elopement website. On it, it says, "It means it’s just about the two of you, your love and commitment to each other. It is a celebration focusing on your love." We both decided that this was the best for us, and did not want to wait any longer. We contacted Andrea, and were married in a private ceremony within a few weeks.

Throughout the marriage application process, Andrea let us know exactly what we had to do at the municipal office, and she was available for any questions we had. After our ceremony, she gave us printed instructions on how to obtain our marriage certificate. Throughout the process, she followed up with us via email. She makes it stress free.

Andrea was an absolute pleasure to work with and I highly recommend her to all who are looking for a wedding officiant. If you are looking for a woman officiant who is completely organized, professional and confident in the services she provides, than go with Andrea! During the process she will meet with you and go over a list of different services that you can have and she is extremely helpful in providing the ceremony both you and your fiance/significant other want.
