Flowers were stunning!
Our wedding planner mainly communicated with Flowers Make Scents and to be honest, I didn’t really have an idea or look I was really wanting. I just had the wedding colors and said “boho-chic” and even with that little information, they created stunning pieces and had the perfect color + flower breed combo made to fit our special day. Everything was absolutely beautiful.

From the initial consultation to the final delivery and arrangements, Flowers Make Scents did an amazing job for my daughter's wedding. Their prices were very reasonable, and they were easy to work with throughout the process. The bridal bouquets were beautiful, and the table arrangements were artfully created. We had a large quantity of corsages, wrist corsages, swags, large arrangements and table arrangements and each one was arranged with care. I can't say enough about how easy and accommodating they were. I would highly recommend!

Beautiful ceremony spaces flowers
Our flowers were gorgeous for our January wedding! The utilized my color scheme for our wedding well and added pops of blush pink that really went well with everything else. We had a large piece for the arch, chair decorations, an arrangement over our welcome sign, boutonnieres, corsages for the moms, bouquets, and flowers for our cake.

So responsive and helpful
Shari and team created a beautiful arch and centerpieces for our wedding on 5/14/22. Everyone kept saying how beautiful the flowers looked and how great it smelled in our venue. Our DJ said she could smell the flowers before she entered the reception space. We cannot thank you enough for bringing our vision to life and being so friendly to us throughout this process. Absolutely Stunning!
Flowers Make Scents was by far the best floral vendor we have ever worked with. My husband and I were married in October 2021 in Prince George, VA. I met with Shari during the planning process and she made me feel so welcomed and excited for our big day. She walked me through each option that she could provide and made it known that no detail would go unnoticed. She took all of my ideas and responded to each of my questions about the floral arrangements, as well as offering some sage advice about the wedding floral design process. I am not exactly well-versed in florals, but Shari took the time to listen to my vision. She routinely asked for images of my vision and even allowed my bridesmaid and I to preview the flowers prior to the wedding day, just in case I wanted to make any last minute adjustments. To say that these floral arrangements are stunning would be an understatement. Flowers Make Scents went above and beyond all of my expectations and truly made my dream come to life. Thank you so much Shari and all the Flowers Make Scents team for playing such an integral part of our wedding day. A Dream Come True
I can't rave enough about this florist. We worked with Shari to design our wedding flower arrangements. She took our vision and elevated it to new heights! During the times of Covid, our venue was forced to change, causing our floral plans to change as well. Shari and her team did not cower at this challenge. They looked at our new venue and brainstormed ideas on how to decorate it to our liking. The flowers were breathtaking. They transformed the venue. I could not have imagined having anyone else do our wedding flowers. We are lifelong customers now! Shari truly made an unfortunate change of plans into a beautiful opportunity and I can't thank her enough for that.

Shari was a pleasure to work with from beginning to end! Because I was living out of town during the initial stages of my wedding planning and was unable to visit her in person, Shari set up a FaceTime call for our initial consultation. She was not only helpful with floral my arrangements but gave great feedback and recommendations for decor rentals and other vendors that she believed could help bring my entire wedding vision to life. She was very patient and flexible as my wants and needs changed and updated my proposal without hesitation. Wedding flowers can definitely add up but Shari did a great job helping me stay within my budget while still having the wedding of my dreams!

I absolutely loved working with Flowers Make Scents for my wedding. I told them a list of everything I could have possibly wanted and they gave me a quote on the spot and then adjusted that quote all the way up until the week of the wedding to accommodate my last minute ideas! I had gone to at least 3 other florists/wedding florists and Flowers Make Scents was the only vendor who I felt wasn't trying to make me max out my budget. They allowed me to come into the shop 2 days before the wedding to make sure everything was EXACTLY how I envisioned it and even though they got it perfect on the first try, I know they would have made any changes that I requested! I would highly recommend them to anyone getting married in the Richmond area!

I highly recommend this vendor! I had to delay my purchase order due to my husband's health, but I was greeted warmly and remembered from previous meetings. The staff here really care of giving quality service, they are considerate, accommodating, the floral selections are crazy beautiful and unusual. I have used this vendor before and the purple roses lasted over two weeks, even after being in the heat! They know their business and I will be patroning them again. You can't go wrong with this company.

My daughter and I met with a few florists. Within 5 minutes of arriving at Flowers Make Sense, we knew we were at the right place. Al was prepared for our appointment. I had sent pictures of flowers my daughter liked which he had reviewed. We discussed the pictures, types of flowers, etc., and within 15 minutes, he had stepped away and created a visual for my daughter's input.
The flowers were absolutely gorgeous, exactly like my daughter dreamed. The venue was just so beautiful. The flowers were talked about by all of the guests.
I just cannot encourage you enough to consider Flowers Make Sense.

We had one meeting with Ellen we knew she was the one. This company knows flowers and they know how to make your day beautiful. We loved her knowledge of flowers as well as her knowledge of weddings and events. This is her speciality and she is a pro. We never had one minute of worry. A friend recommended I use Flowers Make Scents for my April wedding. We met with Ellen to discuss what I had in mind for the big day. I pointed out a few things on Pinterest that I liked, and she went with it. She knew exactly what to do and could picture my vision. The flowers were delivered in enough time that I could see them before the ceremony. They were absolutely gorgeous and totally exceeded my expectations. Everyone loved them! Two arrangements in vases were beautiful in the colors we requested and in composition.

I couldn't have been happier with Flowers Make Scents who did our wedding flowers. Going into the process not really knowing what I wanted, Shari and her team worked with me, listened to my likes and dislikes and made some fantastic suggestions. And they had no problem making some tweaks as I changed my mind leading up to the date :-) From the altar flowers, to the bouquets to the reception flowers, no detail was overlooked and they did an amazing job tying it all together.
I also fully appreciated them inviting me to stop by the store 2 days before the wedding so I could take a look at what they had already put together. One look at my bouquet and it put all my nerves at ease, it was absolutely gorgeous!!
Lastly, their flowers are built to last! The altar flowers were repurposed at our reception and then got moved to the post-wedding brunch the next day at a hotel. My mother checked out of the hotel 2 days after the wedding and noticed the arrangement had been moved to the front desk still looking brand new!

Shari at Flowers Make Scents was absolutely wonderful. I have never been super into flowers, and I certainly am not one to know what I'm talking about when it comes to anything floral. Shari and I sat down and looked at some pictures and I mentioned things I thought were pretty and things I didn't like as much. She pulled flowers right then and there to give me an idea of what we could do. I thought what she did was gorgeous, and the pricing was super reasonable. I gave Shari very little direction, and she did an absolutely PHENOMENAL job. I got SO many compliments on my bouquet as well as all of the other flowers. A+ job!

I was beyond pleased with the flowers that Flowers Make Scents provided for my daughter's recent wedding! They were so accommodating to work with from beginning to end, and were really creative and respectful in helping me stay within my budget. I don't have a lot of floral expertise, so I came to our initial consultation armed only with a verbal description and a few photos as a reference. Christine really captured the casual but elegant vision that we were going for. Also, unlike a couple other florist's I had visited; Flowers Makes Scents was also able to provide me with a price quote that very day. They also conveniently delivered to our venue, and provided us use of special vases to use for displaying (and maintaining) the bridesmaid's bouquets as decor during the reception. On the day of the wedding, the girl's bouquets were beautiful, and turned out exactly as my daughter had envisioned them! For the reception tables, a family member had uniquely decorated the centers with an assortment of vintage books and tea cups; but I also wanted to carry out our color scheme with a touch of fresh flowers on every table as well. Rather than use traditional vase arrangements, FMS suggested the perfect splash of color with a fresh hand tied floral sprague that could be worked into the existing decor of each individual table. The hand tied bundles turned out even larger than I had anticipated, and were a perfect compliment to our vintage theme. On a side note; all the wrist and lapel flowers were extremely fresh and held up beautifully during sunny outdoor ceremony; and the ladies corsages all conveniently came with both wrist or lapel attachments. From boutonnieres to bouquets... my experience with Flowers Makes Scents was extremely positive from beginning to end! I highly recommend their services for all floral needs... both big and small!

We could have not asked for more beautiful arrangements; they came out great and really was the perfect touch for the decor. This wedding was for my daughter! My daughter and I went for a consultation and brought pictures of what we wanted for her bouquet but wasn't sure about what we wanted for the bridesmaids. After our consultation was over, we were very excited about what we ordered and couldn't wait. Consultation was very helpful! We went to see the flowers the day before and they were beautiful. We had gotten everything we ordered. The bouquets were put together beautifully and we actually got more roses in the bouquets then ordered since they wanted to make sure that they came out much prettier for us. We were very happy and thrilled with the flowers! Everything was beautiful. We were very happy to work with Flowers Make Scents and would definitely order from there again.

When we first met at the shop, we pulled up my pinterest and scrolled through what we had been imagining, and the day-of our flowers were dead-on! We wanted a birch chuppah, and wow did they ever deliver us the most gorgeous chuppah, decorated perfectly with my mother's veil and my grandfathers prayer shawl. The flowers (yellow gerber daisies and billy balls) were PERFECT and the ribbons were exactly what we discussed and just made the whole ceremony and reception POP! Would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for floral arrangements for a wedding or celebration.

Flowers Make Scents is truly a wonderful vendor to work with; you will not be disappointed with their service. Shari is such a sweet lady, and she works very hard to be sure she clearly understands your vision & gets it right. I love how she used my floral inspiration to help guide her and her assistants in creating the arrangements exactly as I had imagined them. She also lets brides come by a day or two before the wedding to give your stamp of approval prior to the big day. That certainly helps calm some pre-wedding jitters! Again, Shari and her staff are wonderful. I would certainly use them again & again!

Flowers make scents and Shari did a great job helping my day beautiful. They were very professional and made the centerpieces and bouquets I had imagined. They were able to make adjustments that I needed and also did a great job with being flexible and making beautiful centerpieces. I was able to see them a couple of days before the wedding and I was so happy with them. Flowers make scents was a wonderful florist and Shari was super friendly and helpful.

Flowers Make Scents was recommended to me by a friend that is an event planner. She said she uses them for all of her events and that she has never been disappointed. I am SO glad that I listened to her! We met with Shari to go over the colors we wanted and brought her pictures of our ideas. She listened, gave her feedback on the flowers, told us ways to cut costs, and wasn't trying to force anything on us. She pulled up flowers online to show us flowers she was referring to, and made sure every detail was correctly written down on her list. The cost was very reasonable and came in under other vendors we spoke with.
We had 3 cylinder vases and had a Beta fish in the tallest one. She worked with us on the special water we needed to add, the rocks on the bottom, and adding the fish at the right time. When I came the day before the wedding for the walk through I was AMAZED at how awesome the flowers looked. They were more beautiful then I could have ever imagined.. I cried right in the store! When you have 1,000 details to worry about, it was so nice that I didn't have to worry about anything involving the flowers. I would HIGHLY recommend Flowers Make Scents to anyone, Shari was fabulous!

I used Flowers Make Scents for my wedding on 9/7/13. I wanted the wedding to have sort of an old, art-deco feel to it, and I knew that the flowers would be important in reflecting that theme while working in the confines of my budget. So I met with the owner, Ellen, and I showed her pictures and described which colors and flowers I liked while she took notes. The co-owner Shari sent me a contract describing exactly what flowers they would use, what vases, etc. I am a perfectionist, so I sent the contract back with a few changes, and they told me no problem. A few months later, I asked to come back for a preview of what my centerpieces would look like (the preview is an awesome thing they do to make SURE their brides are happy IN ADVANCE of wedding day), and I wasn't completely thrilled with what they had come up with... so I sent over a few more pictures and revised my original description of the flowers, because, hey, a girl is allowed to change her mind, right? Went in again to preview my flowers before the wedding, and they were PERFECT! I was so impressed with how they took my vision and made it better than the pictures I had showed them, not to mention how patient they were with me and all my little tweaks and revisions. I would absolutely recommend Flowers Make Scents to another Richmond-area bride! I just wish I could post a picture here to show off my lovely bouquets and centerpieces!

Shari did beautiful flowers for our wedding on May 4, 2013. She let us preview the flowers two days before the wedding, and was willing to make a minor adjustment to make sure we were completely satisfied with our flowers. Shari was reasonable and flexible with pricing, and I think she ultimately upgraded our flowers at the last minute by adding more peonies than we had discussed (which made everything even more beautiful!)

Flowers Make Scents is by far one of the best vendors for flowers in Richmond, VA! I personally worked with Shari, but the other girls in the shop were super nice and responsive. Shari went through the whole wedding flower process from the "look and feel" of the wedding to ordering and pickup/delivery. I felt very comfortable. The shop has limitless options available to fit any budget. I got married at the Jefferson Hotel and decided to go with traditional roses for my bouquets (HOT pink roses). Shari knew just the "type" of rose that would look best (I had NO idea there were so many different hot pink roses out there). I gave her a swatch of the color of the bridesmaids dresses (which were purple) and she did the rest. The bouquets turned out amazing! I also placed a last minute order the week of my wedding for cake flowers and flower girl petals... Flowers Make Scents made it happen in a time crunch! The cake was BEAUTIFUL with the flower additions (same hot pink) and we got the biggest bag of petals for the flower girl!!!! Very reasonable prices, excellent service (even in a time crunch) and FANTASTIC looking product. Highly recommended.

I went to flowers makes scents after seeing their work at a friends wedding and thinking I couldn't afford arrangements as beautiful. When I spoke to my friend she told me that they were actually very reasonable. She was right. Shari was beyond fair, honest, and reasonable. I showed her my "dream" florals and then discussed my actual budget. She found a way to make beautiful arrangements that were in my taste and price range. My wedding arrangements were BEAUTIFUL! Modern, elegant, and with the touch of bling that I wanted. She definitely delivered on her work. I asked her to make me 3 different arrangements, one large, one small, and one non floral. All of them were fabulous! My bouquets were perfect! She even made me two arrangements for the ceremony at the last minute that were even better than what I described to her. I had to give a perfect score for professionalism also because my wedding was out of town in Charlottesville and I had delivered votives to them 2 days earlier in Richmond. On the delivery day, they forgot the votives. The delivery driver went to SEVERAL stores in Charlottesville to replace them. I never heard a word about it until after the fact. That's professionalism and service. My decor consisted basically of flowers and lighting and Flowers Make Scents ensured I had a beautiful wedding day for a very reasonable price. I highly recommend them.

This is the florist that you never break a sweat over. If you say "no hydrangeas", they don't magically sneak in there because they feel it is the "hot flower" de jour.
Anyway, they can handle any kind of bride. Are you free spirited with a price range and a color family you want to stick to? You just want to let them have free reign? Then this florist is for YOU!
Are you insisting that they replicate an exact piece that you saw in a wedding magazine? Well, you're in luck.
They were very good about sticking to the budget and parameters for style and color that I requested. Everything was done in a timely manner. I never did not know where I was in the process with her. Friendly, professional and trustworthy...it was all there.
I will note that if you are a bride on a budget (I was), your flowers will still be beautiful. The florists are VERY tasteful!!! They are just good at what they do and can suggest lots of work arounds for pricing purposes.
For instance, I wanted to replicate the festive look of tall orchid bunches on centerpieces. I can't afford orchids and instead we did large bunches of baby's breath.

I had a fall wedding and wanted to incorporate some fall colors along with other vibrant colors. I had met with several other florists, but Shari and the others at Flowers Make Scents were the only ones to fully understand my vision. What a relief it was to show up on the day of my wedding and see my flowers just as I had imagined them....they were beautiful!!

These ladies were absolutely wonderful! I really wanted flowers that were unique and special and they did both better than I could have ever come up with on my own. These were the most amazing and perfect wedding flowers that I could have ever asked for! My only regret is not being able to save them forever! Flowers Make Scents sent over backwards to make my special day perfect and I could not thank them more for it. They new exactly what I was looking for and give me suggestions to keep my cost low and the impact spectacular! We were thrilled with the flowers that Shari, from Flowers Make Scents did for my daughter's wedding this past Sat., May 26, 2012. All the flowers are still as beautiful as they were 5 days ago. Everyone is raving about the flowers when they view the pictures of the wedding on Facebook, etc. The pink balls of carnations, that hung on the end of the pews, were used at the reception as well and are decorating my home. The aromama is as wonderful as the looks of the flowers. Thanks again to FLowers Make Scents. We will certainly be recommending them to everyone that we know that needs flowers for any event!!
