If you're searching for a wedding cake, cupcakes, or simply to get your afternoon dessert fix, STOP!!! You needn't look any further!!! Flour Child Bakery is THE ANSWER!!!
Two weeks ago, I married my best friend. I was thrilled to finally make it down the aisle, but what I truly couldn't wait for was to see (and eat!) the incredible cake and cupcakes from Flour Child that awaited us inside the venue...
I started planning our wedding in February, so we didn't have much time to ruminate over the many options! I knew I wanted something coffee-flavored, and wanted to see lots of pretty cake/cupcake combo designs. Flour Child clearly listed an espresso Swiss meringue buttercream frosting option on their website and had a variety of beautiful, unique, and delicious-looking photos to browse! It was so easy to reach out and immediately connect with Cassie. From start to finish, her expertise, guidance, patience, creativity, warmth, and passion guided me through the process of choosing the perfect wedding cake and cupcakes!!!
The team was personable and incredible in every way. Our cake tasting was an absolute blast—we did 2 cake tasting boxes and had so much fun mixing and matching different frostings and cake flavors! Their specialty frosting, Swiss meringue buttercream, is the best thing I've ever eaten. It's thick, fluffy, holds shape, is stable at room temperature, and carefully crafted with so many freaking flavors!!!! It's an absolute HIT and unlike the typical syrupy, overly sweet, or sticky frosting many places use. It's PERFECTION. I ate it with a spoon out of my tasting box.
Now, let me tell you what we chose to do and how freaking delicious everything was, so you can say, "I'LL HAVE WHAT SHE'S HAVING!"
We opted for a 6" layered cutting cake for us, with a wide variety of cupcakes for guests, placed on a large wooden cupcake stand.
Our layered cutting cake had espresso-flavored frosting with devil's food chocolate cake, filled with dark chocolate ganache... The decorations were breathtaking—she created the most beautiful seashells and coral for our beach-themed wedding, and it complemented our cake topper so perfectly!!! The flavor was to die for. Absolutely perfect, fluffy, rich, and delectable....
We then did 10 dozen cupcakes consisting of 9 flavors!!!!! We had a small wedding, and the goal was making sure people got to try any flavor they wanted, and send some home with folks!
The final flavors:
1) our wedding cake flavor (espresso frosting, devil's food chocolate cake, dark chocolate ganache filling) x 2 dozen
2) strawberry cupcakes filled with white chocolate ganache, topped with strawberry frosting and white chocolate ganache drizzle
3) carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and cream cheese frosting as filling
4) German chocolate cupcakes with classic German chocolate coconut/pecan frosting with chocolate buttercream filling
5) lemon cupcakes with raspberry preserves filling and lemon buttercream frosting with a raspberry drizzle
6) pineapple cupcakes with passion fruit preserves filling and passion fruit buttercream frosting with a dollop of passion fruit filling on top
7) coconut cupcakes filled with lemon curd and topped with classic vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream frosting tinted blue with edible seashells
8) almond cupcakes with raspberry preserves filling and almond frosting with raspberry drizzle
9) Classic yellow cake cupcakes with chocolate Swiss meringue buttercream frosting
Every single one was phenomenal, and I had so much fun bossing people around, making sure they all tried everything! As evidenced in the photos 😂😂😂
Amid the stress of wedding planning, when I felt overwhelmed, I'd literally drive over to Flour Child and get some treats (jumbo cupcakes, cake pops, coconut custard, cookies, etc.)! Their store is such a lovely, yummy safe space and helped remind me what a wedding is truly all about—togetherness, community, love, connection, and cake!
I will be a lifelong customer and fan of this incredible family-owned, woman-owned bakery!!!! Thank you so much for helping our dreams come true!!! We'll be seeing you again soon!

The Best Wedding Cake Ever!
Flour Child Bakery was the perfect choice for our wedding cake. From the start of the process, they were so easy to work with. Being able to sample flavors at home and then tell them exactly what we wanted our cake to be, they were great every step of the way. The cake was delivered exactly when they said and it was perfect. First time using this bakery and will use again in the future! The cake was the “shining star” on the table.Guest loved the two tier filled cake raspberry on top chocolate ganache on the bottom. Everyone commented how the cake was so delicious light,moist and not too sweet. Guests surprised it was gluten-free which we ordered for two guests that were attending, so everyone could enjoy! Wow! Flour Child Bakery was recommended to me by several people on social media. They created a custom, 6" wedding cake as well as several dozen cupcakes for our wedding. The bakers and staff that helped us with the process were absolutely fantastic; from setting up a take-home cake testing, discussing design, and modifying pie order to accommodate some of our guests food restrictions. Everything looked amazing, exactly how we envisioned the cake and cupcakes to look... and tastes delicious as well (we were lucky to taste many of the flavors we ordered for our guests cupcakes lol). 10/10 recommend! -

Flour Child Bakery did an absolutely amazing job with the two tier cake we ordered for our wedding on 5/2/26! Cassie from Flour Child arrived early for our event with a gorgeous two tier white wedding cake decorated with our cake topper & flowers we had previously dropped off at their location. It was stunning! She even provided a box for us to save the top tier in. The cake was beautifully executed & meticulously presented! We were so impressed by it!!
The flavor combination of almond cake with vanilla buttercream was delightful together & we were happy we’d ordered the tasting box well in advance of our event so we could try out all the combinations of cake, frosting & filling for ourselves to make an informed decision for our big day. In addition we found everyone at Flour Child both professional, helpful & great at communicating. Our guests found the cake so delicious that most of them took home an extra piece from our wedding! Flour Child really hit it out of the park for us on this one!!! We will definitely be using their services again in the future. Thank you so much for making our big day so special!!! 💕 -

Working with Flour Child Bakery was such a wonderful experience! Cassie and Cathy were very easy to communicate with and responded very quickly to any questions we had. Cake testing was really fun once my husband and I figured out we take everything home and test out all flavors from the comfort of our own couch - this is such a great idea! We knew we wanted red velvet for our 2 tier cake, but had the most fun paring flavors for our guests cupcakes. Our cake came out beautiful and the cupcakes were a hit with our guests. We loved our experience so much with Flour Child Bakery that my husband and I make occasional trips back to the bakery to treat ourselves with cake pops, scones or a slice of pie. We had a wonderful overall experience with Flour Child Bakery! They were one of the first vendors I booked. We enjoyed the at home cake tasting in a relaxed environment. Flour Child has always been our favorite bakery in the VB area. We wanted to get a cake from them and do a cookie bar for our wedding, and they were so helpful and executed our vision perfectly. We got a personal cake to cut and did an assortment of cookies. Everything was delivered on time and set up prior to our reception beginning. Our guests thought our cookies were AMAZING to the point we almost didn't have any left over. Our cake was just as beautiful as we wanted, too, and everything was perfectly priced for all of our items and including delivery to our venue. 13/10 recommend them for all your wedding dessert dreams! -

Wonderful experience all around!
Flour Child Bakery was an absolute delight to work with for our wedding cake. They were fast to respond to inquiries and questions and incredibly helpful throughout the whole process. We had been talking to another bakery when we were abruptly told they could no longer do our wedding cake. After contacting Flour Child Bakery it was obvious they should have been the choice from the beginning, I only wish I'd found them first. The tasting was well priced and provided us the opportunity to try multiple different cake types and filling/frosting flavors. They were incredibly helpful in planning the size of the cake and decorations. On the day of the wedding the cake was delicious and a huge hit with our guests. Thank you so much Flour Child Bakery. -

Cassie and Cathy created the most stunning cake for my sister's wedding! It was absolutely picture-perfect and tasted just as incredible as it looked. When I arrived early to do a final check (as the coordinator) at the venue, I was so touched to see the cake already beautifully displayed. That extra thoughtfulness meant so much.
Every detail—from the decoration to the flavors—was done with such care and creativity. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about it, and we received so many compliments throughout the night.
Cassie and Cathy truly brought our vision to life, and their talent and dedication made our day even more special. I would recommend them in a heartbeat to any couple looking for a wedding cake that is both gorgeous and delicious. -

Top “Tier” Wedding Cake Bakery
I came to Flour Child with only a few until my wedding as the original bakery we had in mind,who only required 4 weeks notice, did not end up working out. The staff at Flour Child was accommodating & kind. They ensured they had all the details & sent forms in a timely manner. The cake was DELICIOUS! And they have lots of options to customize flavors and fillings. Their icing is to die for. Set up was beautiful & they added the cake toppers I brought. Absolutely recommend! -

The most beautiful and delicious cake!!
We had such an amazing experience with Cassie at Flour Child Bakery! She was so responsive from beginning to end and ensured we had the right cake and design we wanted for our big day. She provided a box to save the top tier and also set up a delicious tasting to-go box. Every flavor of cake and buttercream was so good. We decided on vanilla bean cake with vanilla buttercream. It was AMAZING and so moist and flavorful!! Everyone loved it and asked where we got it from. We will certainly be back for any special occasion and just because!

Very Professional / Reliable + Great Tasting Wedding Cake!
Ordered a 6" on 8" Cutting Cake ($200) + Delivery ($50) for my Wedding. I ordered very last minute -- a month out and Flour Child (Mother / Daughter-Owned Bakery) was able to accommodate. They were super responsive / professional. They have lots of flavors / designs with transparent pricing - just make sure to have pictures ready if you want a certain look. I didn't have to worry about anything. I did not do a tasting since another friend had used them before -- and said they had the best tasting cake in the area :) -

My husband and I ordered a tiered confetti wedding cake with buttercream frosting and Lambeth-styled piping for that vintage feel! Flour Child Bakery exceeded our expectations with the look and taste of the cake! The buttercream frosting was so light and the cake was super moist and full of flavor. Everyone loved the cake and we received many compliments about it. Beautiful and delicious!
We had a fabulous cutting cake and cupcakes for our wedding. The team at Flour Child were quick to respond, gave all the information up front so you weren't having to keep going back and forth and made it fun and easy. They have cakes to choose from and open to creating your personal cake. They are our local bakery that we purchase from and everything they make is delicious! We were able to do a tasting to pick our cakes and frostings. Everyone loved our Devils Food with salted caramel and Italian Cream with coconut. -

Easy on-line communications; Cassie was very responsive in communicating with me, as well as, in offering advice and suggestions. My fiance and I enjoyed the cake tasting process, which helped us to narrow down our favorite flavor combinations. I was looking for a simple, tasteful, and elegant cake for the Big Day and Flour Child truly delivered. The cake was perfection! The whole process of finding and deciding how a wedding cake should look and taste was extremely stressful, until I found Flour Child Bakery! Cassie was soooo easy to work with, sweet as could be, and communicated promptly through the whole process. I didn't know what I wanted for a cake design but she helped me along the way by sending ideas of other cakes she's done as well as offered suggestions. I also love how easy the 'cake tasting to go' was.
Just pick 3 cake flavors (though I HAD to try the lemon so I added that in there) and 6 fillings or frostings, and mix and match how you like in the comfort of your home! I will never forget how excited I was walking into the reception to see it all come together on the cake table....Absolutely beautiful and deliciously perfect and EXACTLY how I pictured it would look! Their work is perfect. I'm so happy I found this business because honestly, they were the best tasting cupcakes and cake I've ever had. They were a HUGE hit and everyone was eating them before the food! I cannot thank the Flour Child Bakery team enough. The work they do is outstanding! -

The best cake!
We had such a great time tasting all the different combinations to pick what we wanted for our wedding cake and cupcakes. We ended up choosing some from the wedding selection sheet and going with a flavor that had been a cupcake of the day. The bakery was amazing to work with! All our questions were answered quickly. We ending up going with a three tiered cake and 60 cupcakes in three different flavors. Our guests loved the cake and the cupcakes. We actually had no cupcakes left at the end of the night! -

My Husband and I have always loved Flour child Bakery, so when it came to picking them to make our wedding cake and desserts it was not a hard choice! We had our wedding in October at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens. We really wanted fall themed desserts as well as our wedding cake. Flour Child helped us pick the best fall themed desserts that everyone loved. We got a two-tier cake, 6 dozen cupcakes and two kinds of pies! The owner Cassie suggested to us the idea of pie to also serve to the guests and we fell in love with that! All of our guests loved the desserts. We kept getting compliments and asked what bakery we chose. The cake so was beautiful, super moist and perfect. The pies can’t compete!! Overall Flour Child Bakery was very flexiable for us and definitely made our day special & unique! If your looking for a bakery for your special day I highly recommend Flour Child Bakery!! -

Flour Child Bakery was wonderful to work with for our wedding in Virginia Beach! They were quick to respond and were very flexible when I changed my mind about flavors and counts the month before the wedding. My mom and I loved the "to go" tasting and the flavors of cakes and frostings were delicious...to the point where it was hard to choose just a couple! You can mix and match the flavors to get the exact vibe you are going for on your big day. The prices were very reasonable and they were always willing to answer my questions. We will definitely be using them again for special events and highly recommend them for family and friends' special events! Flour Child Bakery was so easy to work with while planning our wedding! They answered every question we had and ensured every detail was perfect. Flour Child created our wedding cake back in October of 2020 along side another little honeymoon cake.
What we ordered:
Bottom/biggest cake:
Cake - Italian Cream (coconut & walnuts)
Filling - White Chocolate Ganache
Buttercream - Amaretto Buttercream
Middle cake:
Cake - Lemon
Filling - Raspberry Preserves
Buttercream - Lemon
Top/smallest cake:
Cake - Devil's Food
Filling - Peanut Butter
Buttercream - Banana Cream
& The honeymoon cake was a coconut cake with pineapple filling and coconut buttercream with shredded coconut all over it.
As you can see by our selections, they offer flavors that run from the most elegant to everyday fun & tasty ones, and their full menu is is much broader.
I am not kidding when I say that I am trying to think of an excuse to order it all over again, it was seriously the yummiest cake and cake combination I have ever tasted. So freaking good. We actually over-ordered so we would make sure not to run out, but even the leftovers were gobbled up over the next couple of days our family and wedding party stayed at the beach house where we held the ceremony.
Plus working with Cassie and Cathy was wonderful...they were patient with me and very helpful and kind during the planning process and onsite, they worked with the florist to decorate the cake with some of the florals that had been designated for the cake. It was so beautiful....and I cannot say enough how truly delicious each of the different cakes were.
In the VA Beach area, this bakery is going to be your best choice for whatever event you plan. Locals get to enjoy their cakes and pastries anytime they want, but if you are from out of town and have high-end expectations, Flour Child Bakery is the best choice in the area for your special event.
I can't recommend them enough.

Through our cake tasting during COVID times, our last minute additions, and our changing guest list, Flour Child Bakery was beyond accommodating. Beautiful and delicious!
My husband and I are SO glad that we got our cake from Flour Child Bakery. We did the initial tasting “to-go” style due to the pandemic where we got to pick our cake flavors, fillings, and buttercreams. We decided to go with a lemon cake with cream cheese frosting & lemon curd for one tier; then a chocolate cake with mocha buttercream for the other tier. Our wedding cake was absolutely DELICIOUS!!! On top of that, they decorated so beautifully! Our guests were so excited for our cake and even grabbed seconds. I highly recommend getting your cake at Flour Child Bakery! -

I don’t even know where to begin. These ladies are a gift from Heaven! We got a small 6" cake and 4 dozen mini cupcakes for our itsy bitsy wedding in the park - and my guests wouldn't wait til cake cutting to dive into the cupcakes!! Wonderful flavor, delicious icing, and beautiful decoration just as we asked!
Now I just need to special-order some Guiness chocolate cupcakes with Bailey's icing for a special treat 😉 -

I really had no idea what I wanted for a wedding cake, I just knew we needed one. I've never been much of a cake person. Flour Child Bakery made us the most BEAUTIFUL cake. I couldn't believe it! Most importantly, it was SCRUMPTIOUS! I loved every bite! Their Red Velvet with Cream cheese icing is to DIE for. -

Cathy was so helpful in helping us design a cake that fit our budget. They seemed keen on helping us save money, which was really nice seeing as getting married is so expensive! It was very easy to work with Flour Child Bakery! All of the guests devoured the cake at the reception and some even took 2 pieces so they could try another flavor! We didn't have any left over at the end of the night! I highly recommend them! -

Flour child bakery did my wedding cake. It was absolutely beautiful. It tastes so good. I received many compliments on the cake. Many people wanted to take it home with them. We already got into the top layer ( couldnt wait a year). They are AMAZING!! -

My matron of honor moved down to Virginia a couple of years ago and actually had her wedding cake done by Flour Child Bakery so she suggested them to us since they did an amazing job on her wedding cake and since we are from out of the area as well. We came down in August for cake tasting and we ended up picking banana cake with cream cheese filling with vanilla icing. There were so many options and they were all delicious. I had a picture of what I wanted my cake to look like and they fulfilled that wish. We decided to have our cake delivered to the hotel and their delivery was timely and with no issues. At the reception all of our guests loved the taste of the cake and people were having additional slices. The cake looked amazing and tasted amazing too. We always joke that when you go to weddings the cake always looks nice but never tastes good, however their cake is certainly the exception. From our experience Flour Child Bakery really cares about what the customer wants and they are very friendly and professional. We would recommend this bakery to anyone as they deliver on your expectations.

Heather Sent on 01/15/2018Our guests RAVED about our wedding cake and groom’s cake from Flour Child Bakery! The cake was moist and the flavors were out of this world! When we went in for a tasting, there were so many options of cake, fillings, and frostings it was hard to narrow down what flavors we wanted for our cake as they all sounded fantastic. They had all of the flavors that you would expect and a lot more that you wouldn’t know to ask for. During the tasting we discussed designs and the owner guided us through the process. I chose a design that included balsa wood flowers (that I provided). I dropped off the box of flowers hoping that the pictures provided and our discussion of design would provide enough insight as to my vision. Holy cow! The cake was even more gorgeous than I could have imagined. I got so many compliments! The grooms cake was a fun design with a beer can suspended over a beer stein cake. It turned out wonderfully and so many people thought it was quite the feat of engineering. Flour Child Bakery’s prices and flavors for wedding cakes can’t be beat in the Hampton Roads area. Check them out!

Rachael Sent on 11/10/2017Had a destination wedding in Va Beach and it was so difficult to get anyone to answer my emails or call me back. Flour Child bakery were so quick to respond. I had picked out the cake I wanted on pinterest and sent them a picture the women at Flour Child were so friendly and very easy to work with and super responsive. Other bakeries and wedding cake vendors were charging So Much for the cake. They delivered on time. Cake was exactly what I asked for. We ordered a 3 tier and had picked vanilla for 2 tiers and chocolate for 1. The vanilla was not good at all, so dry, like it had sat for days, chocolate was a little better. We threw away 3/4 of the cake since not many people liked it. I am giving 4 stars only because they were so friendly and quick to respond and even though the cake was not that great it looked outstanding and was exactly what I asked for!
