We found Penni through a venue that we toured. Her food is AMAZING! We told my mother-in-law about her and she used her for the Rehearsal Dinner as well. All of our guests raved about the food at our Rehearsal Dinner and Reception. There are so many options and the price is unbeatable. At the end of both events the staff packed up all of the leftovers and sent it home with us. You will not be disappointed if you use Flavorful Events!

The food was great and the service was top notch. Plenty of food and everything was kept stocked. Had several comments from guests on the quality and we were very satisfied.

This caterer is owned with Stonewall Manor. The reception food was awesome, and they also provided plenty of appetizers like cold cuts, spinach dip, meatballs, and fruit. Very delicious. And they packed a to-go meal for the bride and groom.

Penni and staff were incredible! The food was so delicious and their service was exceptional. They went above and beyond for my daughter's wedding reception, from the wonderful attitude the bartender and serving staff had with our guests, the quickness of clearing dishes as our guests were finished eating. The attention to detail was phenomenal and the set-up was beautifully done! TOP NOTCH!!!

Penni was wonderful to work with and was so accommodating! The food was DELICIOUS and was the best value by far!! So many guests told me and my husband that it was the best wedding food they'd ever had and I have to agree. The macaroni and cheese was incredible! The presentation was perfect as well. Highly recommend this caterer!

Penni & the staff at Flavorful Events are incredible! They catered both our rehearsal dinner and our reception, and at our recommendation, they catered my sister-in-law's wedding and are catering for two more friends. Penni was so wonderful to us every step of the way. I felt like I had made a great new friend in her; she worked really hard to capture the vision for our wedding day and to make the food displays flow right along with the look/feel of our reception. Speaking of food - it was delicious! When we first met with Penni, we had a few different directions that we considered for food - a traditional Southern buffet, breakfast for dinner, or soup and salads. While we LOVED the breakfast for dinner spread, we ultimately ended up choosing the soups and salads option, as we loved the idea of doing "comfort foods". We loved all of the soup options - regular chili, white chicken chili, loaded baked potato soup, clam chowder and seafood gumbo. For salads, we had Caesar, garden salad, waldorf salad, fruit salad and spinach salad. The sides were delicious - macaroni and cheese, chicken and dumplings, Carolina cheese grits and a mashed potato/sweet potato bar! It was so perfect!! Penni, Danny & the entire Flavorful Events staff truly went above and beyond to take care of us throughout our wedding season, and we couldn't be more grateful!

Penni was amazing. She met me at my venue weeks ahead of time to go over everything I needed and brought whatever extra tables and supplies weren't provided at no extra cost. All the other caterers I talked to wanted to nickel and dime for every table, glass or platter. She was so flexible and nice it was easy to make the catering choice. She and her staff came to set up what they could the day before the wedding and make sure I didn't need anything else. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Many of my guests commented on it. The staff was very helpful and professional. They packed up food for us to take with us anticipating that we wouldn't get a chance to eat at the reception. They also went above and beyond to help us break down the tables, etc as required by my venue.

Penni was so incredibly flexible and reasonable! Every other caterer we looked at charged extra for every little thing--drinks, cake cutting, travel, etc. For the same price at most other caterers, we would have gotten a buffet with one entree choice, two sides, and maybe a salad. With Flavorful Events, we not only got two entree choices, FOUR sides, and salad, but we also got a biscuit bar, passed hor d'oeuvres, and drinks included in the super reasonable price. There also weren't any silly hidden fees, like cake cutting fees or travel fees.

The staff was very professional, and I had good feedback from my guests about the food. Penni was super accomodating also--she worked with us to do everything she could to help us achieve the vision we wanted for our wedding without breaking the bank! The only small complaint I have is that sometimes it would take her a while to respond to emails. However, she and her staff delivered on every promise, and were definitely the best value for the money!

Awful Experience - Do Not Recommend

Let me start this review off by saying two things:
    1. I am not typically a person to write bad reviews on companies.
    2. All of our other wedding vendors received 5 star reviews from us.

Now that I have gotten that out of the way, I will say that the absolute worst part of our entire wedding day was Flavorful Events Catering. When my husband and I fixed our plates to eat, the food was COLD. While we did not eat immediately when the food buffet opened, we did eat within the first 20 minutes of it opening, as the food line was only open for about 45 minutes to an hour max before the catering staff carted all of the food away. Several guest complained about not eating and others went back for seconds to see that the food was already gone. Given that we picked their hors d'oeuvres package I assumed that our guests would have longer than 45 minutes to scarf down their food and have nothing left to eat from 6:15/6:30 until the end of the reception at 10:30. Please keep in mind that our guests all traveled from out of town to attend our wedding, so they were all very hungry by the end of the night and heading back to hotel rooms. Our contract stated that we would be getting bride/groom packaged hors d’oeuvres and bride parent packaged meals, which we were fine with until we saw how quickly the food was picked up. We received 9 partially filled to go boxes with about 1/3 of the menu items we had chosen. So I’m not sure where ALL THE FOOD that was leftover went. Especially considering we paid for the minimum catering package of 100 adults and only had 85-90 adults present at the wedding. Had the food been out for a reasonable amount of time, I would have had no issues with the amount of food we received at the end of the night. The food, in general, was subpar, aside from the pulled pork and mashed potatoes.

We paid to add the cake cutting package to our catering contract and were asked to give the company a description of each layer of the cake, if they were not all the same. I am not sure why this was asked because they only cut one layer of our 3 tier cake and immediately wrapped/packaged the other 2 layers. Meaning that only one of the three flavors were available for our guests to eat. The grooms cake was also cut, or as I saw it to be… butchered. Many guests said they did not want the grooms cake but did not other options because the rest of the cake had not been cut. When I attempted to go find cake for myself, it was all packaged already so I also couldn’t even eat my own wedding cake at my wedding.

Once I mentioned the issues we had with the catering company, several of our guests started telling us that the staff was basically ripping things off the table, hurriedly trying to gather their things as if they had somewhere else to be.

We paid additional for a bartender, who was hands down the ONLY good thing about the entire experience. She was very nice/accommodating to our guests. Yet, somehow, my guest ended up having to serve themselves by the end of the night. Which according to Penni was a miscommunication on my wording for when the reception would end. Our sparkler exit was listed on the timeline but I added that the event would not actually end until later in the evening but our photographers would be leaving, so we were doing the ‘grand exit’ early for photo purposes. Had this been our only hang up, I would not even be mentioning it because I understand miscommunications.

On the Monday, following our wedding, I contacted Penni to voice my concerns. She stated that she would need to contact her catering manager and give me a call back. On Tuesday, her husband calls me saying that ‘the whole situation was his fault, that he was taking full responsibility for the timeline being given incorrectly to the staff’. At this point I am trying to understand how this could have happened and while attempting to ask questions and explain my situation, he repeatedly talked over me, disregarded my concerns, was unbothered by the fact that I was so upset by this experience, and just kept asking ‘so what’s it going to take to make you happy? Is this enough money to fix it?’ This is probably the sole reason I am writing the review that I am, because instead of showing any compassion or any care in the world about us not having a good experience with his company, he was trying to throw money at the situation to make me go away.

So while they did send us a partial refund for the terrible service they provided, it does not change the situation our guests experienced. And the fact that he would not even listen to me, attempting to tell him what happened in order for them address/fix the issues for future clients, does not sit well with me. I worry that without properly addressing the issue, this could happen to someone else, and I wouldn’t even wish this experience on my worst enemy. Given the chance to redo our wedding the only change I would be making would be the catering company we chose.
